Drift and diffusion of a confined semiflexible chain

We study the transverse and longitudinal linear response function of rigid chains subjected to an external force. Our main concern are stiff polymers confined in narrow pores with diameter less than their persistence length. We explicitly consider confinement in a transverse harmonic potential and generalize results by scaling arguments. Our results describe the drift of the filament under an external force, time evolution of the filament shape, and filament diffusion. Diffusion of a confined filament resembles the celebrated reptation process for flexible chains, albeit with distinct kinetic exponents. The limiting case of stiff free filaments is also mentioned.

Syntheses and evaluation of pyrido[2,3-dlpyrimidine-2,4-diones as PDE 4 inhibitors

The syntheses and in vitro evaluation of a new series of pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine-2,4-diones bearing substituents at C-3 and/or C-4 positions on the pyridine ring are described. Some of these compounds, especially 51 and 6f, were found to be potent phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE 4) inhibitors exhibiting improved ratio of PDE 4 inhibitory activity:rolipram binding assay (RBA).

Synthesis and in vitro antibacterial activity of 3-[N-methyl-N-(3-methyl-1,3-thiazolium-2-yl)aminolmethyl cephalosporin derivatives

The new cephalosporins having N-linked quarternary ammonium salt at C-3 position were prepared from the reaction of 2-methylimino-3-methyl-1,3-thiazoline derivatives with cephalosporins. Also antimicrobial activities of those compounds were determined.

Synthesis and structure-activity relationships of quaternary ammonium cephalosporins with 3-pyrazolylpyridinium derivatives

Cephalosporins with 3-pyazolylpyridinium at C-3 position, which is supposed to exhibit synergic activity of ceftazidime and cefoselis, were synthesized and their antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative was inspected.
