Synthesis and Characterization of New Mesoporous Polyurethane-Nitrogen Doped Carbon Dot Nanocomposites: Ultrafast, Highly Selective and Sensitive Turn-off Fluorescent Sensors for Fe3+ Ions

A new fluorescent mesoporous polyurethane (PU) (9) was synthesized by reaction between 2,2'-(methylenebis(4,1-phenylene))bis(5-isocyanatoisoindoline-1,3-dione) (Diisocyanate) (5) and 4,4',4″-((1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triyl)tris (azanediyl))triphenol (Triol, TO) (8) (molar ratio 3:2). PU was characterized by using FT-IR, ¹H-NMR, XRD, UV-Vis, TGA, Nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherm, BET, FE-SEM and Photoluminescence (PL) analyses. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that a fluorescent polyurethane has been made without the use of commercial fluorescent materials. PU has high fluorescent intensity and it is ultrafast (about few seconds), highly selective and sensitive turn-off fluorescent sensor for Fe³⁺ ions. This chemosensor exhibited a wide concentration range of (10-250)×10^-6 M Fe³⁺ with quenching efficiency (η) 97.50%. Limit of detection (LOD), limit of quantification (LOQ) and quenching constant (Ksv) values were calculated 10.10×10^-6 M, 30.60×10^-6 M and 6919.31 M^-1, respectively. Nitrogen doped carbon dots (N-doped CDs) as fluorescent nanoparticles and with the aim of improving Fe³⁺ detecting were synthesized by microwave-assisted and using citric acid monohydrate (10) and ethylenediamine (11) as carbon and nitrogen sources, respectively. Fluorescent nanocomposites (FNCs) were prepared by using casting and in-situ methods. In both methods, two nanocomposites containing 5 and 10%w of N-doped CDs were prepared. FNCs were characterized by using FT-IR, UV-Vis, XRD, TGA, Nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherm, BET, FE-SEM and PL analyses. All nanocomposites showed better thermal property and sensitivity and lower LOD values in lower concentration of Fe³⁺ related to PU. Among them, FNC10in exhibited the best results as η, LOD, LOQ, Ksv reached 99.80%, 1.15×10^-6 M, 3.48×10^-6 M and 53,551.48 M^-1, respectively.

Synthesis and Characterization of New Polyimide/Organoclay Nanocomposites Containing Benzophenone Moieties in the Main Chain

<p>A series of nanocomposites consist of organic polyimide and organo-modified clay content varying from 0 to 5 wt%, were successfully prepared by in situ polymerization. Polyimide used as a matrix of nanocomposite was prepared through the reaction of 1,4-bis [4-aminophenoxy] butane (APB) and 3،3΄،4،4΄-benzophenone tetra carboxylic dianhydride (BTDA) in N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc). The resulting nanocomposite films were characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).</p>

Designed biocompatible nano-inhibitor based on poly(β-cyclodextrin-ester) for reduction of the DEHP migration from plasticized PVC

The easy migration of di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) from the plasticized PVC (P-PVC) poses a serious threat to human health and the ecosystems. Thus, its control migration from the P-PVC products is very important. In this work, a poly(β-cyclodextrin-ester) network (β-CDP) was synthesized via reaction of β-cyclodextrin with 3,3',4,4'-benzophenone tetracarboxylic dianhydride. As a potential inhibitor for reduction of the DEHP migration, the β-CDP was grafted to Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles. Poly(β-cyclodextrin-ester) functionalized Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles (MNP-CDP) has been used in PVC/DEHP system as a reactive nano-inhibitor to reduce DEHP migration. Thermal stability and mechanical properties of obtained films were investigated. DEHP migration tests of the P-PVC films were also carried out by using Gas chromatography. It was found that by incorporating the small amounts of nano-inhibitor in PVC/DEHP system, the migration of DEHP effectively reduced from the P-PVC samples about 65% without any serious changes in mechanical and thermal properties of the P-PVC films.

Processing of Thermally Stable Polymer Nanocomposites Reinforced Silicate Nanoparticles Based on N-trimellitylimido-L-phenyl alanine

In this article two polymer/nanocomposite films with 5 and 10% silicate particles based on Poly(amide-imide) (PAI) from N-trimellitylimido-L-phenyl alanine were prepared via solution intercalation method through blending of organoclay with the PAI solution. Poly(amide-imide) was synthesized by the direct polycondensation reaction of N-trimellitylimido-L-phenyl alanine with 4,4′-diamino diphenyl ether in the presence of triphenyl phosphite (TPP), CaCl2 and pyridine (Py). Morphology and structure of the resulting PAI-nanocomposite films were characterized by FTIR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The effect of clay dispersion and the interaction between clay and polymeric chains on the properties of nanocomposites films were investigated by using Uv-vis spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and water uptake measurements.

Thermal and optical properties of new poly(amide-imide)-nanocomposite reinforced by layer silicate based on chiral n-trimellitylimido-L-valine

Two new samples of poly(amide-imide)-montmorillonite reinforced nanocomposites containing N-trimellitylimido-L-valine moiety in the main chain were synthesized by a convenient solution intercalation technique. Poly(amide-imide) (PAI) 5 as a source of polymer matrix was synthesized by the direct polycondensation reaction of N-trimellitylimido-L-valine (3) with 4,4′-diaminodiphenyl ether 4 in the presence of triphenyl phosphite (TPP), CaCl2, pyridine and N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP). Morphology and structure of the resulting PA-nanocomposite films (5a) and (5b) with 10 and 20 % silicate particles were characterized by FTIR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The effect of clay dispersion and the interaction between clay and polymeric chains on the properties of nanocomposite films were investigated by using Uv-vis spectroscopy,  thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and water uptake measurements.
