Abstract
OBJECTIVE Nivolumab plus ipilimumab is a recommended first-line therapy regimen for metastatic renal cell carcinoma. However, it is not clear which patient characteristics are associated with its effectiveness. METHODS We retrospectively examined 67 metastatic renal cell carcinoma patients treated with nivolumab plus ipilimumab as a first-line therapy in multiple institutions from September 2018 to August 2022. We analyzed the relationships between survival outcomes and patient-related variables, including paraneoplastic symptoms. We also analyzed the relationships between changes in symptoms and parameters and outcomes. RESULTS Of the 67 patients, 32 patients had paraneoplastic symptoms. The median progression-free survival was 14.9 months and median overall survival was 43.3 months. The objective response rate was 49.25% (33 patients), including two patients with complete response. Patients with cytoreductive nephrectomy, bone metastasis, high C-reactive protein levels and paraneoplastic symptoms were significantly correlated with short progression-free survival in the univariate analysis. Multivariate analysis of these factors showed that the presence of paraneoplastic symptoms at treatment initiation remained an independent predictor of progression-free survival. Of the 32 patients with paraneoplastic symptoms at treatment initiation, 12 patients had symptomatic improvement and 20 did not. The 1-year progression-free survival rates were significantly longer in improved patients compared with those with no improvement. CONCLUSIONS Patients without cytoreductive nephrectomy and with bone metastasis, liver metastasis, high C-reactive protein levels and paraneoplastic symptoms were significantly correlated with shorter progression-free survival. The presence of paraneoplastic symptoms was an independent predictor of progression-free survival. Improvement in paraneoplastic symptoms may reflect the treatment efficacy of nivolumab plus ipilimumab.

Abstract
We herein report an extremely rare case of intratumoral metastasis of colon cancer to chromophobe renal cell carcinoma. A 71-year-old woman was diagnosed with lung metastasis of sigmoid colon cancer and underwent sigmoid colon resection with D3 lymph node dissection. Preoperative contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) revealed a left renal tumor; however, colon resection was prioritized, and the renal tumor was placed under observation. Two years later, CT revealed enlargement of the left renal tumor, and laparoscopic partial left nephrectomy was performed 1 month later. Histopathologic examination showed that the resected renal tumor was a chromophobe renal cell carcinoma with intratumoral metastasis of colon cancer to the renal tumor center, and adjuvant chemotherapy with bevacizumab plus SOX (L-OHP + S-1) was initiated. Because of severe chemotherapy-induced fatigue and nausea, the patient was switched to bevacizumab + S-1. However, the patient's nausea did not improve after this change, and postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy was discontinued at the patient's request 4 months after the partial nephrectomy. Two months after discontinuation of chemotherapy, CT showed no renal recurrence; however, increased lung metastases and a new bone metastasis in the left sciatic bone were observed. Palliative treatment was then initiated because of severe adverse events that made it difficult to continue treatment. In patients who have multiple cancers and an increase in renal tumor size, the possibility of intratumoral metastasis to the renal tumor should be considered.

Abstract
Primary bladder adenocarcinomas comprise 0.5-2% of all epithelial bladder neoplasms. Of these, primary signet-ring cell carcinoma of the bladder is particularly rare, accounting for 0.24% of all bladder malignancies. This tumor is frequently diagnosed at an advanced stage and has a poor prognosis. No standard treatment has yet been established. We here report a patient in whom laparoscopic cystectomy following neoadjuvant chemotherapy was effective. Our patient was a 69-year-old man who had had microscopic hematuria, undergone transurethral resection of a mass in the bladder, and been diagnosed pathologically with a primary signet-ring cell carcinoma of the bladder. No metastases were detected on computed tomography. The patient was treated with a combination of paclitaxel, cisplatin, and gemcitabine prior to undergoing laparoscopic cystectomy. The histopathological diagnosis on this operative specimen was dysplasia and no metastases were detected in the dissected lymph nodes. Complete remission has now been maintained for 9 years.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Prostate cancer is common among male renal transplant recipients and can present challenges for medical management and patient survival. It is imperative to have a comprehensive understanding of available treatment options in this population to determine the most effective and safe therapies. Brachytherapy, a safe and effective treatment for localized prostate cancer, has not been sufficiently studied in this patient population. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of brachytherapy in treating prostate cancer in renal transplant recipients. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed our brachytherapy database to identify patients with a previous history of renal transplantation who underwent seed implantation for localized prostate cancer. Long-term prostate-specific antigen control and treatment-related toxicity, including graft dysfunction and urinary and rectal complications, were assessed and compared with published outcomes. Results were analyzed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of seed implantation in this patient population. RESULTS We identified 2 patients with previous renal transplantation who underwent permanent seed implantation for localized prostate cancer. Follow-ups ranged from 53 to 57 months, and both patients remained free of prostate-specific antigen progression with normal graft function. No acute and late complications occurred. CONCLUSION Brachytherapy is a safe and effective treatment option for post-renal transplant prostate cancer. Given the paucity of reports on brachytherapy in this population, the findings of this study, despite a small sample size, contribute to the increasing body of evidence supporting the use of brachytherapy in this patient population.

Abstract
We here present a patient with a sarcomatoid renal cell carcinoma complicated by inferior vena cava tumor thrombus that we treated with nivolumab plus ipilimumab. This resulted in shrinkage of the tumor, enabling complete resection by robot-assisted laparoscopic radical nephrectomy. The patient is still alive with no evidence of recurrence.

Abstract
Background Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is often locally invasive and may extend from the renal vein into the inferior vena cava (IVC) as a venous tumor thrombus (VTT). Radical nephrectomy with IVC tumor thrombectomy (IVC-TT) via an open approach has been shown to carry high morbidity and mortality. Recently, robot-associated radical nephrectomy (RARN) has been developed with the aim of improving the performance and outcomes of surgery for RCC with IVC-VTT. Methods We here present four patients who had right RCC with IVC-VTT and underwent RARN with IVC-TT in Nagasaki University Hospital. All four patients had level II IVC-TT and underwent RARN with IVC-TT using a da Vinci Xi surgical system. The procedure comprised performing the Kocher maneuver, exposing the right renal artery in the aortocaval region dorsal to the left renal vein, exposing, mobilizing, and clipping the IVC, clamping and incising the IVC, and removing the kidney with the VTT en bloc. Results The mean tumor size was 83.1 (range, 50.1-115.2) mm and the mean length of the VTT within the IVC 41.6 (range, 25.3-44.3) mm. The mean console time was 290 (range, 287-367) minutes and the mean blood loss was 200 (range, 175-260) mL and no patient required blood transfusion. Conclusions Our initial experience of the procedure of RARN with IVC-TT for level II IVC-VTT is that it is safe and has acceptable perioperative outcomes and complications.

Abstract
Introduction Cholesterol crystal embolism is a rare microembolic disease caused by cholesterol crystals that can present with various symptoms after vascular surgery, catheterization, or anticoagulation therapy. We report a case of penile ulceration caused by cholesterol crystal embolism. Case presentation A 72-year-old man undergoing maintenance dialysis for end-stage renal failure presented with penile pain and a black glans ulcer. Despite low-density lipoprotein apheresis, he was referred to our hospital because of lack of improvement. Based on his medical history and clinical presentation, including artificial vascular replacement and right toe amputation, cholesterol crystal embolism was suspected and partial penectomy was performed, thus confirming the diagnosis. Penile pain resolved after surgery, and he was discharged on Day 10. Unfortunately, he died after small bowel perforation developed 2 months after surgery. Conclusion Penile ulcers caused by cholesterol crystal embolism may indicate the severity and progression of disease and typically require surgical intervention.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Limited information is currently available on the efficacy and safety of axitinib for metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) patients with renal impairment. Therefore, the present study investigated the efficacy and toxicity of axitinib in patients with chronic kidney disease. METHODS Post-hoc analyses were performed on a Japanese multicenter cohort study of 477 mRCC patients who received axitinib followed by 1 or 2 regimens of systemic antiangiogenic therapy between January 2012 and December 2016. Differences in clinical characteristics and the efficacy and safety of axitinib were assessed based on pretreatment renal function. RESULTS Patients were categorized into the following 5 renal function groups according to baseline renal function: estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) ≥60 ml/min (n = 133), 45 ml/min ≤eGFR <60 ml/min (n = 153), 30 ml/min ≤eGFR< 45 ml/min (n = 130), eGFR <30 ml/min (n = 45), and dialysis (n = 16). Median progression-free survival (PFS) (95% confidence interval [CI]) in the 5 groups was 11 (8-16), 14 (11-19), 14 (10-19), 12 (8-24), and 6 (3-NR) months, respectively (p = 0.781). After adjustments for treatment-related confounders, the renal function group was not a significant prognostic factor for PFS. Objective response rates in the 5 groups were 22%, 23%, 23%, 18%, 20%, and 38%, respectively (p = 0.468). Regarding adverse events of all grades, hypertension (p = 0.0006) and renal and urinary disorders (p < 0.0001) were more frequently observed in the eGFR <30 ml/min group than in the other groups. CONCLUSIONS Since renal function at the initiation of treatment with axitinib does not adversely affect the efficacy of VEGF-TKI therapy, clinicians do not need to avoid its administration to mRCC patients with impaired renal function in consideration of the risk of progression to end-stage renal disease.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Current prognostic models for metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) are likely inaccurate due to recent treatment advances and improved survival outcomes. The JEWEL study used a data set from patients who received tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) to explore the prognostic impact of the tumor immune environment in the absence of immune checkpoint inhibitor intervention. METHODS The primary analysis population comprised 569 of the 770 Japanese patients enrolled in the ARCHERY study who received first-line TKIs. Multivariable Cox proportional hazard models were used to identify factors associated with the primary (overall survival [OS]) and secondary outcomes (treatment duration) using 34 candidate explanatory variables. RESULTS Median OS was 34.1 months (95% CI, 30.4-37.6) in the primary analysis population. A considerable negative prognostic impact (descriptive p ≤ 0.0005) on OS was seen with lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) >1.5 × upper limit of normal (adjusted HR [aHR], 3.30; 95% CI, 2.19-4.98), Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status (ECOG PS) ≥2 (aHR, 2.14; 95% CI, 1.56-2.94), World Health Organization (WHO)/International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP) Grade 4 (aHR, 1.89; 95% CI, 1.43-2.51), C-reactive protein (CRP) level ≥0.3 (aHR, 1.78; 95% CI, 1.40-2.26), and age ≥75 years (aHR, 1.65; 95% CI, 1.24-2.18) in the multivariable analysis. PD-L1 and immunophenotype affected OS in univariable analyses but were not selected in the multivariable model as explanatory variables. CONCLUSIONS JEWEL identified sex, age, ECOG PS, liver and bone metastases, CRP levels, WHO/ISUP grade, LDH, and albumin levels as key prognostic factors for OS after first-line TKI therapy for mRCC.

Abstract
Cancer-related anorexia is a common complication and frequently occurs in cancer patients treated with vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (VEGFR-TKIs). Anorexia contributes to malnutrition, body weight loss, and cachexia in affected patients. Furthermore, patients who experience anorexia have worse outcomes than those who maintain their appetite, highlighting the importance of managing anorexia and related symptoms. However, as the causes of anorexia are both diverse and interconnected, there have been challenges in evaluating and implementing effective interventions. In this review, we described the contributing factors to cancer-related anorexia and reviewed recent literature for the frequency of anorexia symptoms in patients treated with VEGFR-TKIs. Additionally, we evaluated the evidence for current interventions and the potential benefits of multimodal and multidisciplinary approaches to care. The frequency of anorexia symptoms in patients who received VEGFR-TKIs ranged from 14%-58% for all-grade anorexia and 0%-6% for grade 3 or 4 anorexia. While many of the interventions for cancer-related anorexia have minimal benefit or adverse events, recent advances in our understanding of cancer-related anorexia suggest that multimodal therapy with multidisciplinary care is a promising avenue of investigation. Several studies currently underway are anticipated to further assess the effectiveness of multimodal approaches.

Abstract
Introduction Immune checkpoint inhibitors are available for the treatment of advanced urothelial carcinoma; however, serious adverse events occasionally occur. Here, we report a rare case of Evans syndrome attributed to the use of an immune checkpoint inhibitor. Case presentation A 56-year-old man was diagnosed with left renal pelvic cancer and underwent left laparoscopic radical nephroureterectomy. Eight months postoperatively, computed tomography revealed para-aortic lymph node metastasis. Despite receiving chemotherapy, the disease progressed, and pembrolizumab was initiated. After 26 months of pembrolizumab treatment, the patient developed fever and anemia. Hematologic examination confirmed the diagnosis of Evans syndrome. He was treated with blood transfusions and corticosteroids, and gradual symptom improvement was observed. Conclusion This report highlights the potential risk of Evans syndrome associated with immune checkpoint inhibitor treatment. Clinicians should be aware of this possibility and consider early intervention with corticosteroids.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study is part of the SNPs in Nivolumab PD-1 inhibitor for RCC (SNiP-RCC). Here we aimed to reveal clinical factors for tumor response, progression, and survival in nivolumab for advanced clear cell renal cell carcinoma (RCC) in Japanese patients. METHODS We included patients from 23 institutions in Japan. We evaluated the objective response, radiographic progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), and treatment-related grade ≥ 3 (serious adverse events [SAEs]). RESULTS We included 222 patients. The median age was 69 years (interquartile range 62-74 years), and 71% of the patients were male. Pancreas metastasis, lung metastases, prior cytokine therapy, and SAEs, were associated with objective response. The median PFS was 18 months. Liver metastases (hazard ratio [HR], 1.61), age ≥ 75 (HR, 0.48), previous resection of primary sites (HR, 0.47), and SAEs (HR, 0.47) were independent prognostic factors for PFS. Karnofsky Performance Status <70 (HR, 2.90), high platelets (HR, 4.48), previous resection of primary sites (HR, 0.23), and pathological grade (HR, 0.19 for grade 2 and HR, 0.12 for grade 3) were independent prognostic factors for OS. SAEs were reported in 45 (20.3%) cases. In the group of patients with prior nephrectomy, SAEs were associated with objective response, PFS, and OS. CONCLUSION The SNiP-RCC study identified clinical parameters correlated with treatment outcomes in Japanese patients with priorly treated advanced clear cell RCC undergoing nivolumab monotherapy.

Abstract
We analyzed 45 patients who were diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma with inferior vena cava tumor thrombus (IVC) and underwent surgical resection at Nagasaki University Hospital during the 17 years from March 2003 to November 2020. The median overall survival (OS) was 68.5, 53.5, 45.7, and 20.4 months, respectively, according to the tumor thrombus level (Lv) of I, II, III and IV, with a median level of (P=0.025). In multivariate analysis, pathological sarcomatoid changes were associated with risk of tumor recurrence in the postoperative complete remission group, and IVC thrombus level above Lv III was associated with poor prognosis in the postoperative incomplete remission group. On postoperative systemic treatment for the postoperative recurrence group and the incomplete remission group, overall survival was significantly prolonged in cases using immune checkpoint inhibitors. The results of surgical treatment of renal cell carcinoma with IVC tumor embolization were analyzed. Patients who underwent surgical resection and achieved postoperative complete remission had a relatively long prognosis with a median OS of more than 6 years. In contrast, patients with metastases, especially those with postoperative incomplete remission group, had a poor prognosis despite surgical resection, depending on the patient's situation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Anti-PD-1 antibodies are widely used for cancer treatment including advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC). However, their therapeutic and adverse effects vary among patients. This study aimed to identify genetic markers that predict outcome after nivolumab anti-PD-1 antibody treatment for advanced RCC. METHODS This study was registered on the website of the University Hospital Medical Information Network (protocol ID, UMIN000037739). Patient enrollment was conducted at 23 institutions in Japan between August 19, 2019, and September 30, 2020. Patient follow-up ended on March 31, 2021. Patients were treated with nivolumab for advanced clear cell RCC. A genome-wide association study was performed in the development set, while genotyping of target regions in the validation set was undertaken. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in genes of interest CD274, PDCD1LG2 and PDCD1 were genotyped in the combined set. The primary endpoint was the association of SNPs with objective response following nivolumab treatment. As secondary endpoints, the associations of SNPs with radiographic progression-free survival (rPFS) and treatment-related grade ≥ 3 adverse events (AEs) were evaluated. RESULTS A genome-wide association study followed by a validation study identified that SNPs in FARP1 (rs643896 and rs685736) were associated with objective response and rPFS but not AEs following nivolumab treatment. Furthermore, SNPs in PDCD1LG2 (rs822339 and rs1411262) were associated with objective response, rPFS, and AEs following nivolumab treatment. Genetic risk category determined according to the number of risk alleles in SNPs (rs643896 in FARP1 and rs4527932 in PDCD1LG2) excellently predicted objective response and rPFS in nivolumab treatment. CONCLUSION This study revealed that SNPs in FARP1 and PDCD1LG2 were correlated with outcome in nivolumab treatment. The use of these SNPs may be beneficial in selecting appropriate treatment for individual patients and may contribute to personalized medicine.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIM Kidney and brain expressed protein (KIBRA), a member of the WW domain-containing protein family, has an important role in tumour growth and progression in various cancers. However, the pathological significance of KIBRA expression in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) tissues is not fully understood. The aim of this study was to clarify the pathological significance and prognostic roles of KIBRA expression in patients with ccRCC. MATERIALS AND METHODS KIBRA immunoreactivity, proliferation index (PI; with anti-Ki-67 antibody), apoptotic index (AI; using anti-cleaved caspase-3), and large tumour suppressor kinases (LATS-2) were evaluated in 157 ccRCC specimens by immunohistochemistry. Fifty normal kidney tissues were also evaluated as controls. The relationships between KIBRA expression and these cancer-related variables as well as clinicopathological features and survival were analysed. RESULTS Moderate to strong immunoreactivity of KIBRA was identified in all normal kidney tissues; however, ccRCC cells with strong KIBRA expression was rare. The immunoreactivity score (IRS) of KIBRA was negatively associated with grade, T stage, tumour diameter, and metastasis. Kaplan-Meier survival curves showed that high KIBRA expression was a favourite predictor for overall survival. KIBRA IRS was negatively associated with PI and positively associated with the IRS of LATS-2 by univariate analysis. In addition, multivariate analysis showed that KIBRA was significantly associated with PI. CONCLUSION KIBRA demonstrated important roles as a tumour suppressor in ccRCC. In addition, its expression was significantly associated with survival in these patients. Several such KIBRA-related functions were speculated to be modulated by cancer cell proliferation and LATS-2.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Nephrectomy is a curative treatment for localized renal cell carcinoma (RCC), but patients with poor prognostic features may experience relapse. Understanding the prognostic impact of programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression in patients who underwent nephrectomy for RCC may aid in future development of adjuvant therapy. METHODS Of 770 surgical specimens collected from Japanese patients enrolled in the ARCHERY study, only samples obtained from patients with recurrent RCC after nephrectomy were examined for this secondary analysis. Patients were categorized into low- and high-risk groups based on clinical stage and Fuhrman grade. Time to recurrence (TTR) and overall survival (OS) were analyzed. RESULTS Both TTR and OS were shorter in patients with PD-L1-positive than -negative tumors (median TTR 12.1 vs. 21.9 months [HR 1.46, 95% CI 1.17, 1.81]; median OS, 75.8 vs. 97.7 months [HR 1.32, 95% CI 1.00, 1.75]). TTR and OS were shorter in high-risk patients with PD-L1-positive than -negative tumors (median TTR 7.6 vs. 15.3 months [HR 1.49, 95% CI 1.11, 2.00]; median OS, 55.2 vs. 83.5 months [HR 1.53, 95% CI 1.06, 2.21]) but not in low-risk patients. CONCLUSIONS This ARCHERY secondary analysis suggests that PD-L1 expression may play a role in predicting OS and risk of recurrence in high-risk patients with localized RCC. Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIM To analyze the effects of laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (LPN) and robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) for the treatment of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) on subsequent split renal function using renal scintigraphy. PATIENTS AND METHODS We retrospectively analyzed data from 174 patients who underwent LPN or RAPN by a single surgeon, and assessed their total and split renal function before and 6 months after each procedure. Split renal function was analyzed using 99mTc-2,3 dimercaptosuccinic acid renal imaging and calculated as the total estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) × uptake ratio on the surgical side/uptake ratio on the contralateral side. RESULTS LPN or RAPN were performed in 51 (29.3%) and 123 (70.7%) participants, respectively. Their median eGFRs before and after surgery were 32.76 and 27.74 ml/min/1.73 m2, respectively, and 70 of them (40.2%) showed a preservation of split eGFR of >90%, which was used to define a successful procedure. Participants who underwent a successful procedure had significantly lower RENAL nephrometry scoring system (RNS) scores and fewer of them had external tumors. Successful procedures were associated with shorter warm ischemia time, were more likely to be RAPN, and less likely to involve parenchymal suturing. Multivariate analysis showed that a low RNS score and parenchymal suturing were significant independent predictors of split renal function following partial nephrectomy (PN). CONCLUSION Preoperative RNS score and the use of parenchymal suturing are significantly associated with a preservation of split renal function of >90% in patients who undergo PN for the treatment of RCC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIM WW and C2 domain-containing 1 (WWC1) protein is a suppressor of malignancies. However, there is no information on the pathological significance of WWC1 in upper urinary tract cancer (UTUC). PATIENTS AND METHODS In this study, WWC1 immunoreactivity was investigated in 152 non-metastatic UTUC samples. The relationships between WWC1 expression and grade, pT stage, proliferative index (using an antibody to Ki-67), and the immunohistochemical expression of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2 and -9 were evaluated. RESULTS WWC1 expression was negatively associated with tumor grade and pT stage (p<0.001). Positive expression of WWC1 was a better predictor of the UTUC recurrence and subsequent metastasis, and the multivariate analysis showed that WWC1 expression was a significant predictor of subsequent metastasis (hazard ratio=0.29, p=0.020). WWC1 expression inversely correlated with the proliferative index (odds ratio=2.59, p=0.023) and expression of MMP9 (odds ratio=2.19, p=0.040) but not with MMP2 expression, by multivariate analyses. CONCLUSION WWC1 expression was negatively associated with malignant aggressiveness via the suppression of cancer cell proliferation and MMP9 expression in patients with UTUC. This suggests WWC1 to be a useful predictor and novel therapeutic target in patients with UTUC.

Abstract
To date, few detailed studies have been conducted on the convenient and useful markers for the prevalence of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), including overactive bladder (OAB) and nocturia. A high level of calcium (Ca) excretion (hypercalciuria) is indicative of lifestyle-related diseases such as hypertension, which are associated with the onset of LUTS. Hence, in this study we attempted to clarify the relationship between urinary Ca excretion and OAB, nocturia, and nocturnal polyuria in adults. The present study showed that patients with hypercalciuria frequently experienced OAB, nocturia, and nocturnal polyuria. In addition, this study revealed that the severity of LUTS is significantly associated with urinary Ca excretion and that hypercalciuria is an important risk factor for OAB, nocturia, and nocturnal polyuria.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION We investigated the efficacy and safety of every-other-day dosing of sunitinib for the treatment of metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) with extended follow-up and the impact of immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) drugs. METHODS Thirty-two patients received standard dosing treatment (standard group), and 32 received every-other-day treatment (experimental group). Efficacy endpoints included progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), and objective response rate. We also analyzed the clinical course of patients treated with nivolumab after sunitinib. RESULTS The minimum follow-up was 42 months. Median PFS and OS were significantly longer in the experimental group compared with the standard group (27.6 vs. 6.2 and 87.1 vs. 24.6 months, respectively). The incidence of dose interruption of sunitinib caused by adverse events was significantly lower in the experimental group than in the standard group (28.1% vs. 56.3%, p = 0.042). Multivariate analysis showed that every-other-day dosing was a significant independent prognostic factor (p = 0.038), although nivolumab use was not (p = 0.232). Twelve patients were treated with nivolumab after sunitinib, and patients who did not respond to nivolumab tended to respond to pretreatment sunitinib for a long period. DISCUSSION/CONCLUSION Long-term follow-up confirmed the efficacy and safety of every-other-day dosing of sunitinib for mRCC patients in the ICI era.

Abstract
AIM To evaluate the preoperative predictors of pathological lymph node (LN) metastasis and prognostic factors for postoperative biochemical recurrence (BCR) in robot-assisted radical prostatectomy with extended pelvic LN dissection in patients with D'Amico high-risk prostate cancer (PCa). PATIENTS AND METHODS Overall, 107 patients with D'Amico high-risk PCa underwent robot-assisted radical prostatectomy with extended pelvic LN dissection without neoadjuvant or adjuvant therapy. BCR was defined as a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level ≥0.2 ng/ml. Moreover, BCR-free survival rates were determined using Kaplan-Meier analysis. Logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate preoperative predictors of pathological LN metastasis. Cox regression analysis was used to evaluate the effects of preoperative and pathologic variables on BCR. RESULTS The median follow-up was 21 months, and the 5-year BCR-free survival rate was 59.8%. The positive LN rate was 21.5%. In multivariate analysis, the percentage of positive cores was a significant preoperative predictor of positive LNs. Patients with >50% positive cores (p=0.004) and PSA density (PSAD) >0.5 ng/ml/cc (p=0.005) had a high risk of having ≥3 positive LNs. In multivariate analysis, PSAD >0.5% was a significant preoperative predictor of BCR. Among the postoperative predictors, the number of positive LNs was significantly associated with BCR. Patients with ≥3 positive LNs (n=7) had significantly lower BCR-free survival rates than patients with one or two positive LNs (n=16) (p<0.001). Patients with >50% positive cores and PSAD >0.5 ng/ml/cc had a risk for a high number of positive LNs (≥3) that was strongly associated with shorter BCR-free survival (p<0.001). CONCLUSION The percentage of positive cores may be useful as a preoperative predictor of pathological LN metastasis in patients with high-risk PCa. Patients with >50% positive cores and PSAD >0.5 ng/ml/cc were found to have a high risk for ≥3 positive LNs and shorter BCR-free survival.

Abstract
Background Hemodialysis (HD) is a common renal replacement therapy for patients with renal failure. Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases are known to shorten survival periods and worsen the quality of life of HD patients. Atherosclerosis is a major cause of vascular diseases, and various factors such as abnormality of lipid metabolism and increased macrophage activity, oxidative stress, and endothelial dysfunction are associated with its pathogenesis and progression. Further, endothelial stem cells (ESCs) have been reported to play important roles in endothelial functions. Royal jelly (RJ) affects atherosclerosis- and endothelial function-related factors. The main aim of this trial is to investigate whether oral intake of RJ can maintain endothelial function in HD patients. In addition, the effects of RJ intake on atherosclerosis, ESC count, inflammation, and oxidative stress will be analyzed. Methods This will be a multicenter, prospective, double-blind, randomized controlled trial. We will enroll 270 participants at Nagasaki Jin Hospital, Shinzato Clinic Urakami, and Maeda Clinic, Japan. The participants will be randomized into RJ and placebo groups. The trial will be conducted according to the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki, and all participants will be required to provide written informed consent. The RJ group will be treated with 3600 mg/day of RJ for 24 months, and the placebo group will be treated with starch for 24 months. The primary endpoint will be the change in flow-mediated dilation (FMD), a parameter of endothelium function, from the time before treatment initiation to 24 months after treatment initiation. The secondary and other endpoints will be changes in FMD; ESC count; serum levels of vascular endothelial cell growth factor, macrophage colony-stimulating factor, 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine, and malondialdehyde; the incidence of cardiovascular diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, and stenosis of blood access; and safety. Discussion This trial will clarify whether oral intake of RJ can maintain endothelial function and suppress the progression of atherosclerosis in HD patients. In addition, it will clarify the effects of RJ on ESCs, oxidative stress, and angiogenic activity in blood samples. Trial registration The Japan Registry of Clinical Trials jRCTs071200031. Abstract
Erectile function is regulated by complex mechanisms centered on vascular- and nerve-related systems. Hence, dysregulation of these systems leads to erectile dysfunction (ED), which causes mental distress and decreases the quality of life of patients and their partners. At the molecular level, many factors, such as fibrosis, lipid metabolism abnormalities, the immune system, and stem cells, play crucial roles in the etiology and development of ED. Although phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors are currently the standard treatment agents for patients with ED, they are effective only in a subgroup of patients. Therefore, further insight into the pathological mechanism underlying ED is needed to discuss ED treatment strategies. In this review, we focused on the biological and pathological significance of macrophages in ED because the interaction of macrophages with ED-related mechanisms have not been well explored, despite their important roles in vasculogenic and neurogenic diseases. Furthermore, we examined the pathological significance of macrophages in Peyronie’s disease (PD), a cause of ED characterized by penile deformation (visible curvature) during erection and pain. Although microinjury and the subsequent abnormal healing process of the tunica albuginea are known to be important processes in this disease, the detailed etiology and pathophysiology of PD are not fully understood. This is the first review on the pathological role of macrophages in PD.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Large tumor suppressor 2 (LATS2) is an important regulator of the Hippo pathway and it plays crucial roles in cell survival and behaviors. Herein, we evaluated the pathological roles of LATS2 in prostate cancer (PC), for which very little information is available. METHODS Cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in response to the siRNA-mediated knockdown (KD) LATS2 expression were evaluated in two PC cell lines (LNCaP and PC3). The expression of LATS2 in specimens from 204 PC patients was investigated immunohistochemically, and the relationships between its expression and clinicopathological features, proliferation index (PI; measured using an anti-KI-67 antibody), and biochemical recurrence (BCR) were investigated. RESULTS KD of LATS2 increased the growth, migration, and invasion in LNCaP cells and only increased migration in PC3 cells. The expression of LATS2 was negatively associated with the grade group, T, N, M stage, and PI. In addition, the expression of LATS2 was a useful predictor of the histological effects of neoadjuvant hormonal therapy and BCR-free survival periods. A multivariate analysis model including clinicopathological features showed that negative expression of LATS2 had a significantly higher risk of BCR (odds ratio = 2.95, P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS LATS2 acts as a tumor suppressor in PC. LATS2 expression is a useful predictor for BCR. LATS2-related activities are possibly dependent on the androgen-dependency of PC cells. Therefore, we suggest that LATS2 could be a potential therapeutic target and a useful predictor for outcome in patients with PC.

Abstract
Prostaglandin E2 plays an important role in carcinogenesis and malignant potential of prostate cancer (PC) cells by binding to its specific receptors, E-type prostanoid (EP) receptors. However, anti-carcinogenic effects of the EP receptor antagonist are unclear. In this study, we used a mouse model of PC. The mice were provided standard feed (control) or feed containing the EP1 receptor antagonist and were sacrificed at 10, 15, 30, and 52 weeks of age. Apoptosis was evaluated by immunohistochemical analysis using a cleaved caspase-3 assay. The incidence of cancer in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group at 15, 30, and 52 weeks of age. The percentage of poorly differentiated PC cells was significantly lower in the experimental group than in the control group at 30 and 52 weeks of age. The percentage of apoptotic cells in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group at 15, 30, and 52 weeks of age. These findings indicate that feeding with the addition of EP1 receptor antagonist delayed PC progression via the upregulation of apoptosis. We suggest that the EP1 receptor antagonist may be a novel chemopreventive agent for PC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIM Prostaglandin (PG) E2 mediates malignant aggressiveness by binding to four specific E-type prostanoid receptors (EP1R - 4R). This study aimed to clarify the pathological significance of EPRs in hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (HSPC) and castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). MATERIALS AND METHODS EP1R - 4R expression was examined in 102 HSPC and 27 CRPC specimens. The relationships between their expression and proliferation index (PI), apoptotic index (AI), and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-A expression were analyzed. RESULTS EP4R expression in CRPC was significantly higher compared to that in HSPC, even in advanced disease (T3/4, N1, and/or M1). EP4R expression was significantly correlated with PI, AI, and VEGF-A expression in CRPC. Such significant relationships were not detected between EP1R - 3R and CRPC. CONCLUSION EP4R expression in CRPC was significantly higher than that in HSPC and was associated with cancer cell proliferation, apoptosis, and pro-angiogenetic potential.

Abstract
Objectives To compare the urinary pH, recurrence‐free survival (RFS), and safety of adjuvant intravesical therapy in patients with non‐muscle‐invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) receiving mitomycin C (MMC) therapy and MMC + cytosine arabinoside (Ara‐C) therapy. Patients and Methods A total of 165 patients with NMIBC from six hospitals were randomly allocated to two groups: weekly instillation of MMC + Ara‐C (30 mg/30 mL + 200 mg/10 mL) for 6 weeks and the same instillation schedule of MMC (30 mg/40 mL). The primary outcome was RFS, and secondary outcomes were urinary pH and toxicity in the two groups. Results A total of 81 and 87 patients were randomised into the MMC and MMC + Ara‐C groups, respectively. Overall, the RFS in the MMC + Ara‐C group was significantly longer (P = 0.018) than that in the MMC group. A similar significant difference was detected in patients with intermediate‐risk NMIBC, but not in those with high‐risk NMIBC. The mean (SD) urinary pH was significantly higher in the MMC + Ara‐C group than in the MMC group, at 6.56 (0.61) vs 5.78 (0.64) (P < 0.001), and the frequency of a urinary pH of >7.0 in the MMC and MMC + Ara‐C groups was 6.3% and 26.7%, respectively (P < 0.001). Multivariate analysis models including clinicopathological features and second transurethral resection demonstrated that increased urinary pH was associated with better outcomes (hazard ratio 0.18, 95% confidential interval 0.18–0.038; P < 0.001). In all, there were 14 and 10 adverse events in the MMC and MMC + Ara‐C groups, respectively, without a significant difference (P = 0.113). Conclusions Our randomised clinical trial suggested that intravesical therapy with MMC and Ara‐C is useful and safe for patients with intermediate‐risk NMIBC. Increase in urinary pH with Ara‐C is speculated as a mechanism for increased anti‐cancer effects.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIM Stage-specific embryonic antigen (SSEA)-4 plays important roles in the malignant aggressiveness of various cancers. The aim of this study was to investigate the pathological characteristics of SSEA-4 in castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). MATERIALS AND METHODS SSEA-4 expression and its pathological roles were evaluated in five prostate cancer (PC) cell lines and 27 CRPC tissues. The relationship between SSEA-4 and the androgen receptor (AR) was also examined. RESULTS SSEA-4 expression was detected in AR-negative cells (PC3, DU145, and AICaP1) but was not detected in AR-positive cells (LNCaP and AICaP2). SSEA-4 expression in human CRPC tissues was significantly higher than that in locally advanced or metastatic hormone sensitive PC (HSPC) tissues. A negative correlation was also detected between SSEA-4 and AR in CRPC tissues but not in HSPC tissues. CONCLUSION SSEA-4 was over-expressed in CRPC and the changes were mediated by complex mechanisms that related to the AR and hormonal therapy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIM Little is known on urine biomarkers that are associated with malignant behavior in patients with bladder cancer (BC). Our aim was to identify BC-related factors in urine samples using our original method "immune complexome analysis", based on detecting the immune complex (IC). PATIENTS AND METHODS Immune complexome analysis was performed using urine samples from 97 BC patients, including 67 with non-muscle invasive BC (NMIBC). RESULTS Eight IC-antigens were recognized as candidates for BC-related factors from 20,165 proteins. IC-serum albumin, -fibrinogen γ chain, -hemoglobin subunit α, -hemoglobin subunit β, -ceruloplasmin, and fibrinogen β chain were significantly associated with either pathological features and/or outcome. IC-ceruloplasmin was most widely associated with pathological features in all BC patients and lamina propria invasion and urinary tract recurrence in NMIBC. CONCLUSION Based on detection of IC-antigens it was demonstrated that six IC-antigens, especially IC-ceruloplasmin, are potential urine biomarkers in BC.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION To clarify the efficacy and safety of propiverine hydrochloride for incontinence after robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RALP)/laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (LRP), along with changes in the urethral pressure profile (UPP) and quality of life in patients treated with propiverine hydrochloride. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this randomized, comparative study, 104 patients who were aware of urinary incontinence after RALP or LRP were assigned to receive propiverine hydrochloride (treatment group) or not (controls). Pad test results, International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Short Form (ICIQ-SF) scores, and UPP results [including maximum urethral closure pressure (MUCP) and functional urethral length (FUL)], were recorded immediately and at 6 months postoperatively. RESULTS No serious intraoperative complications or adverse events were caused by propiverine hydrochloride. The pad-test negative rate was significantly greater in the treatment group than in controls (89.1% vs. 73.2%, p = 0.044). Changes in ICIQ-SF scores and MUCP were significantly greater in the treatment group than in controls [-6.5 vs. -4.5 points (p = 0.021), and +49.5 vs. +28.7 mmHg (p = 0.038), respectively]. FUL change did not significantly differ between groups [+4.5 vs. +3.8 mm (p = 0.091)]. In univariate logistic regression analyses, body mass index (BMI), MUCP, and treatment with propiverine hydrochloride were significantly associated with continence status. In multivariate analyses, BMI and MUCP were independently associated with continence status [odds ratio (OR), 1.266; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.047-1.530 (p = 0.015), and OR, 0.986; 95% CI, 0.973-0.999 (p = 0.042), respectively]. CONCLUSIONS Treatment with propiverine hydrochloride alleviated urinary incontinence while improving patient symptoms and quality of life after RALP or LRP.

Abstract
PURPOSE To externally validate the utility of the albumin, C-reactive protein and lactate dehydrogenase model to predict the overall survival of previously treated metastatic renal cell carcinoma patients. PATIENTS AND METHODS The ability of the albumin, C-reactive protein and lactate dehydrogenase model to predict overall survival was validated and compared with those of other prognostication models using data from 421 metastatic renal cell carcinoma patients receiving second-line axitinib therapy at 36 hospitals belonging to the Japan Urologic Oncology Group. RESULTS The following factors in this cohort were independently associated with poor overall survival in a multivariate analysis: a low Karnofsky performance status, <1 year from diagnosis to targeted therapy, a high neutrophil count, and low albumin, elevated C-reactive protein, and elevated lactate dehydrogenase, and the Japan Urologic Oncology Group model was newly developed based on the presence/absence of these independent factors. In this cohort, 151 (35.9%), 125 (27.7%) and 145 (34.4%) patients were classified into the favorable, intermediate and poor risk groups, respectively, according to the albumin, C-reactive protein and lactate dehydrogenase model; however, the proportions of patients in the intermediate risk group stratified by the Japan Urologic Oncology Group, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and International Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma Database Consortium models were >50%. The superiority of the albumin, C-reactive protein and lactate dehydrogenase model to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and International Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma Database Consortium models, but not the Japan Urologic Oncology Group model, was demonstrated by multiple statistical analyses. CONCLUSIONS The utility of the albumin, C-reactive protein and lactate dehydrogenase model as a simple and objective prognostication tool was successfully validated using data from 421 metastatic renal cell carcinoma patients receiving second-line axitinib.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIM The pathological significance of thrombospondin (TSP)-1 and -2 in bladder cancer (BC) is well-known whereas that of TSP-3, 4 and 5 remains unclear. Our aim is to clarify the pathological significance and prognostic roles of TSP-3 to 5 expression in BC patients. PATIENTS AND METHODS TSP-3 to 5 expression, proliferation index (PI), apoptotic index (AI) and microvessel density (MVD) were evaluated in 206 BC patients by immunohistochemical techniques. RESULTS TSP-5 expression was positively associated with grade, T stage, metastasis, and worse prognosis. PI in TSP-5-positive tissues was significantly higher compared to negative tissues. In contrast, AI in TSP-5-positive tissues was significantly lower compared to negative tissues. Expressions of TSP-3 and 4 were not associated with any clinicopathological features, survival, PI, or AI. CONCLUSION TSP-5 plays important roles in malignant behavior via cell survival regulation whereas the pathological significance of TSP-3 and TSP-4 in BC might be minimal.

Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of salt intake restriction on overactive bladder (OAB) symptoms in patients with excessive salt intake. Patients received a brochure on nutritional guidance regarding salt intake reduction and received health education every 4 weeks for 12 weeks. Data from overactive bladder symptom score (OABSS) questionnaires and frequency volume charts (FVCs) were evaluated. The daily salt intake was estimated by determining the urinary sodium and creatinine concentrations using spot urine samples. Of the 98 patients included, 71 (72.4%) successfully restricted their daily salt intake after 12 weeks (salt restricted [R] group), while 27 (27.6%) did not (salt non-restricted [N-R] group). The scores to each OABSS question and the resulting total score improved significantly in the R group; however, the individual scores remained unchanged and the total score increased in the N-R group. The FVC data indicated improved voided volumes in the R group as compared to in the N-R group. Ultimately, 17 (23.9%) patients in the R group no longer fulfilled the OAB diagnostic criteria after salt intake reduction. Thus, salt intake reduction improved urinary symptoms in patients with OAB and may be a therapeutic option for OAB in patients with excessive daily salt intakes.

Abstract
Objectives Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a cause of overactive bladder (OAB), and transvaginal mesh (TVM) surgery can improve the symptoms. Bladder wall thickness (BWT) is a useful and safe marker to evaluate bladder function in urinary disorders. The main purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between BWT and changes in the OAB symptom score (OABSS) after TVM operation in patients with POP. Methods BWT was measured by ultrasonography before and 6 months after surgery at three sites in the bladder: the anterior wall, trigone, and dome. Similarly, the OABSS was evaluated at the time of BWT measurement. Changes induced in BWT at each site and the mean BWT at all sites after TVM surgery were analyzed. Similarly, the relationship between presurgical BWT and the decrease in OABSS was investigated. Results TVM surgery improved OABSS in 30 patients (responders; 73.2%), while 11 patients were judged as nonresponders (26.8%). BWT at the anterior bladder wall and dome as well as the mean BWT at all three sites were significantly decreased by TVM surgery (P < .001). Similar trends were identified in OABSS responders; however, all markers showed no significant changes in OABSS nonresponders. All the BWT‐related markers before surgery were significantly lower in OABSS responders than in OABSS nonresponders. Conclusions BWT at the bladder anterior wall and dome, but not the trigone, were decreased by TVM surgery. We conclude that presurgical BWT may be a useful marker to predict the improvement in OAB symptoms by TVM surgery in patients with POP‐related OAB.

Abstract
Objective To assess the relationship between visceral fat accumulation and lower urinary tract symptoms in female patients. Methods In this single‐center study, we enrolled all women who underwent screening abdominal computed tomography 3 months before the study, irrespective of whether they experienced lower urinary tract symptoms. The Overactive Bladder Symptom Score was used to assess subjective symptoms. Uroflowmetry and ultrasound assessment of post‐void residual urine were carried out to assess objective signs. We analyzed the relationship between lower urinary tract symptoms and various body fat accumulation parameters, including visceral fat area, visceral fat volume and total abdominal fat volume, assessed using computed tomography scans. Results A total of 182 patients were divided into the overactive bladder (n = 71, 39.0%) and the non‐overactive bladder (n = 111, 61.0%) groups. The visceral fat area, visceral fat volume and visceral fat volume/total abdominal fat volume values were all significantly higher in the overactive bladder group than in the non‐overactive bladder group (P < 0.001). Of these parameters, the visceral fat volume/total abdominal fat volume ratio showed the strongest correlation with the total Overactive Bladder Symptom Score (r = 0.394, P < 0.001). The maximum urine flow rate correlated negatively with the visceral fat volume/total abdominal fat volume value (visceral fat volume/total abdominal fat volume r = –0.289, P < 0.001). Subsequent multivariate analysis showed that a high visceral fat volume/total abdominal fat volume value, age and metabolic syndrome‐related diseases were independent risk factors for the presence of overactive bladder. Conclusions Excessive accumulation of visceral fat is independently associated with overactive bladder in females.

Abstract
Oxidative stress plays an important role in cellular processes. Consequently, oxidative stress also affects etiology, progression, and response to therapeutics in various pathological conditions including malignant tumors. Oxidative stress and associated outcomes are often brought about by excessive generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Accumulation of ROS occurs due to dysregulation of homeostasis in an otherwise strictly controlled physiological condition. In fact, intracellular ROS levels are closely associated with the pathological status and outcome of numerous diseases. Notably, mitochondria are recognized as the critical regulator and primary source of ROS. Damage to mitochondria increases mitochondrial ROS (mROS) production, which leads to an increased level of total intracellular ROS. However, intracellular ROS level may not always reflect mROS levels, as ROS is not only produced by mitochondria but also by other organelles such as endoplasmic reticulum and peroxisomes. Thus, an evaluation of mROS would help us to recognize the biological and pathological characteristics and predictive markers of malignant tumors and develop efficient treatment strategies. In this review, we describe the pathological significance of mROS in malignant neoplasms. In particular, we show the association of mROS-related signaling in the molecular mechanisms of chemically synthesized and natural chemotherapeutic agents and photodynamic therapy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIM Stage-specific embryonic antigen-4 (SSEA-4) expression is associated with malignant aggressiveness and is useful as a marker for identifying cancer stem cells. Our aim was to assess the relationship between hormonal therapy and SSEA-4 expression in prostate cancer (PC). MATERIALS AND METHODS SSEA-4 expression in paired specimens from PC patients who underwent neoadjuvant hormonal therapy (NHT) and radical prostatectomy (60 pre-NHT specimens and 60 post-NHT specimens) was evaluated using immunohistochemistry. Proliferation index (PI) and apoptotic index (AI) were also evaluated. RESULTS Post-NHT tissues had significantly elevated SSEA-4 expression whereas anti-tumor effects of NHT were inversely correlated with SSEA-4 expression level. SSEA-4 expression in post-NHT tissues was significantly associated with biochemical recurrence-free survival. SSEA-4 expression in the post-NHT tissues was positively associated with PI and negatively done with AI. CONCLUSION SSEA-4 is a potential therapeutic target for limiting the malignant potential in hormone-naïve PC when considering the use of NHT.

Abstract
Molecular targeted therapies are commonly used in patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC). However, the efficacy and safety of these therapeutic interventions require enhancement to improve prognosis in these patients. Royal jelly (RJ) has anti-cancer effects and adverse events across a variety of types of malignancy. The present study investigated the detailed mechanism underlying the effects of oral administration of RJ in patients with advanced RCC that were treated with molecular targeted agents in a randomized clinical trial. The study cohort comprised 16 patients treated with RJ and 17 patients treated with a placebo. Serum levels of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α and transforming growth factor (TGF)-β were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. The results of the present study demonstrated a larger decrease in tumor size upon supplementing patients with RJ following molecular targeted therapy compared with that in patients administered with the placebo. Patients exhibited reduced anorexia and fatigue in the RJ group compared with the placebo group. The relative dose intensity for patients in the RJ group was higher than that in patients in the placebo group. Post- and pre-treatment ratios of the serum levels of TNF-α and TGF-β in patients in the RJ group were lower than those in patients in the placebo group, and these ratios correlated with decreasing tumor size and frequency of anorexia or fatigue in patients. In conclusion, the results of the present study indicated that oral intake of RJ improved the efficacy and safety of molecular targeted therapy in patients with RCC and changed the levels of TNF-α and TGF-β in the serum of patients, which is speculated to serve an important role in RJ-induced biological activities.
