Introdução: O envelhecimento da população mundial é uma conquista da humanidade, que também se mostra um dos maiores desafios, uma vez que ocasionará novos paradigmas e demandas políticas, sociais, econômicas e de saúde. Desse modo, torna-se essencial discutir os aspectos que envolvem a pessoa idosa e a Atenção Primária à Saúde (APS). Objetivo: Realizar uma análise bibliométrica da produção científica referente aos fatores relacionados com a pessoa idosa e a APS. Métodos: Trata-se de uma revisão bibliométrica que utilizou os termos “primary health care” AND “aged*” na base de dados Web of Science, entre os anos de 1945 e 2016. O estudo analisou os registros com base em revisão de literatura sobre a temática em questão com o auxílio do software HistCite. Resultados: Foram identificados 700 artigos em 313 periódicos, de 2.834 autores vinculados a 1.138 instituições de 61 países, o que totalizou 19.745 referências, com média de aproximadamente 28 referências por artigo. A revista Scandinavian Journal of Primary Health Care possui 4% dos textos e o International Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry, o maior fator de impacto. Os autores mais citados estão reunidos em apenas cinco universidades, com destaque para a Linkoping University, que detém 4% do total de publicações, e três países: Suécia, Brasil e Estados Unidos da América. O Brasil ocupa a primeira colocação, com 2% dos textos. Conclusões: Os estudos revelam aspectos importantes associados à pessoa idosa e à APS, como problemas de inobservância quanto aos cuidados de saúde para essa população, tanto por profissionais quanto pelos próprios idosos, apontando para a desumanização e consequente falta de priorização dessa faixa etária no âmbito da saúde. Com o envelhecimento das populações, é imprescindível que esse tema venha a ser priorizado, ampliando o debate sobre essa transição demográfica e suas consequências para toda a população e visando a alternativas que possam minimizar os impactos dela, bem como a novos paradigmas para produtos e serviços voltados para a população idosa. Isso especialmente na atenção primária, que é porta de entrada para todo o serviço de saúde e principal elo social entre o idoso e a qualidade de vida. Destaca-se ainda a necessidade de educação continuada dos profissionais e de aperfeiçoamento desse nível de atenção para o atendimento a essa população, quantitativamente cada vez maior.

Bibliometric Analysis Of Research on Coronavirus Infection and Patient Safety in Health Care

Objective:

The study aimed at analyzing the international scientific publications on coronavirus infection and patient safety in health care.

Methods:

This research is a bibliometric study carried out by searching published articles in theISIWebofKnowledge/WebofScience database and analyzing the results through bibliometric analysis software HistCite. The selected time frame was between 1970 and 2020, and we used the following descriptors: “coronavirus infection” OR “severe acute respiratory syndrome” OR “COVID-19/SARS-CoV-2”.

Results:

We found 5,434 publications in 1,491 different journals; they are written by 18,274 authors linked to 4,064 institutions, which are located in 104 countries. In the citations analysis, the h-index was 155, and the average of citations each article received was 30.79.

Conclusion:

During the studied period, the Web of Science database showed two peaks of publications on coronavirus infections.The first comprised 768 articles published between 2003 and 2004 when a new coronavirus caused an outbreak of severe acute respiratory failure. The second consisted of 576 articles published between 2019 and 2020, during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic COVID-19. The knowledge on coronavirus infection should be widely shared so that new studies can be designed and the world scientific community can contribute to improving patient safety in healthcare and preventing new pandemics of severe acute respiratory infection caused by coronaviruses.

Investigation of Contacts for Latent Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Infection: Application Software Development

Introduction:

Tuberculosis is a pathology that continues to be worthy of special attention from health professionals and society due to its high prevalence, proving to be a crucial public health problem.

Objectives:

To describe the development of an application for family health strategy professionals’ investigation of tuberculosis contacts for Latent Mycobacterium tuberculosis Infection.

Methods:

This study is applied research on an application software developed according to three of the five phases described by Falkembach for developing digital educational materials, which include analysis and planning, modeling, and implementation.

Results:

The application is dynamic; that is, it guides health professionals through sequenced screens according to professionals’ self-informed answers. This functionality helps them deciding whether to proceed to the treatment of the patient with Latent Mycobacterium tuberculosis Infection or returning to the initial stage of a tuberculosis contact.

The screens of the application follow the flowchart presented in the Ministry of Health’s Manual of recommendations for tuberculosis control in Brazil of 2018.

Conclusion:

The application developed to guide Family Health Strategy professionals regarding Latent Infection by Mycobacterium Tuberculosis can prevent human errors and increase the care quality when assessing tuberculosis contacts.

Colonization of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus among healthcare students: an integrative review

BACKGROUND

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection is a worldwide concern given its presence even in non-hospitalized healthy individuals, such as university students.

OBJECTIVE

To identify in the literature the prevalence of colonization by MRSA among healthcare students.

DESIGN AND SETTING

Integrative review of the literature conducted in Universidade Federal do Piauí.

METHOD

A search for primary studies was performed in the following databases: Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System on-line; Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature; Web of Science; Scopus; and LILACS.

RESULTS

This review included 27 studies that demonstrated MRSA infection prevalence ranging from 0.0 to 15.3% among students.

CONCLUSION

The prevalence of colonization of MRSA among healthcare students is high, and the nasal cavity was cited as an important reservoir location for these microorganisms.

Acolhimento à população de lésbicas, gays, bissexuais e transgêneros na atenção básica

Objetivo: analisar os significados atribuídos por enfermeiros da atenção primária acerca do conhecimento e prática do acolhimento à população LGBT. Métodos: pesquisa exploratória e descritiva, de abordagem qualitativa, realizada com vinte enfermeiros que atuam na Estratégia Saúde da Família (ESF) de uma cidade do Nordeste do Brasil. Utilizou-se um roteiro semiestruturado para entrevistas realizadas em janeiro a março de 2019. Os depoimentos transcritos foram processados no software IRaMuTeQ e analisados pela Classificação Hierárquica Descendente. Resultados: a Classificação Hierárquica Descendente permitiu a identificação e a análise dos domínios textuais em um dendograma, que ilustrou as relações entre seis classes nomeadas conforme seu conteúdo a partir de três eixos. Os significados atribuídos por enfermeiros encontraram-se ancorados na necessidade de aprimoramento para qualidade no processo de acolhimento à população LGBT. Conclusão: É preciso reconhecer que a população LGBT é não apenas formada por uma multiplicidade de orientações e identidades de gênero e investir em estudos que reforcem a ampliação das propostas de humanização do acolhimento dessa população.

[Bibliometric analysis of the scientific evidence on violence perpetrated against the elderly]

The scope of this study is violence perpetrated against the elderly. It aims to analyze the international scientific production on violence against the elderly. It involved bibliometric research carried out in the ISI Web of Knowledge/Web of ScienceTM database, in which the search terms "elder,"violence" or "abuse" and "health care" were used, in the period between the years 1991 and 2016. The data were analyzed considering the evolution of the annual publications, the journals with the highest number of records, the authors with the highest number of publications, the number of articles distributed by authors' country of origin, and articles with the highest impact. A total of 267 published records in 174 different journals indexed to the database in question were identified and were written by 901 authors with links to 410 institutions located in 39 countries. In the descriptive analysis of the content of the top journals on the topic and of the most cited articles there was potential for the development of the topic, since there is a need for more data on interventions in cases of violence against the elderly, with a multidisciplinary approach, as well as conducting more research on clinical manifestations, quality of life and its economic impact on the use of health services.

VALIDAÇÃO DE PROGRAMA ELETRÔNICO PARA SEGUIMENTO DO RECÉM-NASCIDO COM SÍFILIS CONGÊNITA

Objetivo: validar o conteúdo e a aparência de um programa eletrônico para seguimento clínico dorecém-nascido com sífilis congênita.Método: estudo metodológico, de validação de aparência e conteúdo. Os dados foram coletadosde junho a agosto de 2018 com instrumentos de avaliação para validação por sete especialistasmédicos docentes de uma Instituição de Ensino Superior, com experiência em pediatria e/ouinfectologia, com tempo de formação superior a 16 anos. Na análise dos dados, utilizou-se o Índicede Validade de Conteúdo com valor estabelecido de 0,78.Resultados: quanto à estrutura e apresentação, objetivos e relevância, todos os itens foramconsiderados validados pelos especialistas. O Índice de Validade de Conteúdo global foi 0,97.Conclusão: o programa eletrônico foi validado quanto ao conteúdo e aparência, tendo comocontribuição, aos enfermeiros e médicos da Atenção Básica, a produção de uma ferramenta defácil utilização para o efetivo seguimento clínico ao recém-nascido com sífilis congênita.

Adaptação cultural do instrumento Facebook Intensity Scale (FIS) para avaliar o impacto da rede social à saúde

Introdução: As redes sociais são um território que tem a presença de forma contínua da população mais jovem e seu uso exagerado pode ter relação direta com o aumento de problemas à saúde. Objetivo: Adaptar culturalmente o instrumento Facebook Intensity Scale (FIS) do inglês dos Estados Unidos para o português do Brasil.  Método: Estudo metodológico, com participação do comitê de especialistas docentes atuantes no ensino e extensão inseridos em pesquisas envolvendo jovens ou mídias sociais. A coleta de dados ocorreu nos meses de janeiro à fevereiro de 2019. A análise de conteúdo foi desenvolvida em ambiente virtual, com utilização o Índice de Validade de Conteúdo (IVC) para avaliação da pertinência prática, relevância e dimensão teórica. Resultado: Dos oito itens da escala, sete apresentaram sugestões dos especialistas para alteração da versão adaptada. Na análise de conteúdo, o título da escala e todos os itens avaliados pelos especialistas quanto à pertinência prática e relevância teórica apresentaram valor máximo do IVC médio e global. Considerações Finais: As análises dos especialistas demonstraram que os itens são pertinentes à cultura brasileira com evidências científicas da adaptação cultural.  

MORTALIDADE POR QUEDA EM IDOSOS: UMA REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA

Introdução: Organização Mundial de Saúde avalia que em torno de 28% a 42% das pessoas com mais de 65 anos sofrem quedas anualmente, e 5 a 10% das quedas evoluem para óbito. O conhecimento das causas dos óbitos por quedas em idosos possibilita auxiliar no planejamento de estratégias preventivas deste agravo. Objetivo: Realizar revisão sistemática da literatura visando verificar o perfil epidemiológico de óbitos por quedas em idosos entre 2007 e 2016. Método: Busca de artigos com descritores: Idoso; Óbito; Envelhecimento; Perfil de Saúde; Acidentes por Quedas; nas bases de dados CAPES, SciELO, BVS Salud e Google Acadêmico; entre 2007 e 2016; utilizando os Idiomas: Inglês, português ou espanhol; Incluídos artigos contendo em seu objetivo avaliar os óbitos por quedas em idosos e excluídos os estudos que não possuíam informações sobre quedas ou continham a informação da queda como fator de risco para mortalidade em idosos, sem o desfecho óbito. Resultados: Triados oito artigos, seis utilizaram estudos retrospectivos entre 1996 a 2011 tendo o SIM como base. Os estudos encontraram percentuais gerais de óbitos por quedas em idosos entre 0,61% e 0,69% e 7,15% das causas externas. No percentual de mortalidade Específica por quedas, foi observada variação de 15 a 29% nos estudos. O Coeficiente de Mortalidade Específico variou de 24,06 a 35,83/100000hab. Gênero, raça, estado civil e escolaridade não apresentaram avaliações que permitisse uma análise mais efetiva. Todos os estudos apontaram que quanto maior a idade, maior o risco de óbito por queda. Os estudos que tiveram como base de informação o SIM apontaram para a limitação da qualidade do dado coletado, onde alguns óbitos podem estar mascarados dentro de outras causas. Conclusões: Foram encontradas informações insuficientes para traçar o perfil epidemiológico da população idosa que vem a óbito por quedas, assim como disparidades entre as taxas gerais e específicas de mortalidade pelo agravo observado. As evidências levantadas neste estudo destacam as quedas em idosos como um relevante problema atual de saúde pública, uma vez que este agravo é considerado evitável por atenção ao idoso. Mostra-se ainda importante a qualificação da causa básica do óbito no preenchimento das informações do SIM, uma vez que o preenchimento incorreto pode mascarar a informação fidedigna sobre a magnitude dos óbitos por quedas em idosos, suas proporções e coeficientes, prejudicando a avaliação do agravo e a alocação de políticas públicas que possam reduzir esta mortalidade.

Elaboração e validação de um álbum seriado para prevenção do pé diabético

Introducción: A través de las tecnologías educativas, se proporcionan conocimientos de una manera más interactiva para promover la salud en la comunidad, lo que contribuye a la construcción de conocimiento entre sus usuarios. Sin embargo, estas tecnologías no se han orientado a las personas con diabetes mellitus. Objetivo: Desarrollar y validar el contenido y el diseño de una guía didáctica sobre la prevención del pie diabético para su uso por parte de los profesionales de la Atención Primaria de Salud. Materiales y métodos: Se llevó a cabo un estudio metodológico a través de la recolección de datos entre agosto y septiembre de 2018 mediante el envío de instrumentos de evaluación y validación por correo electrónico a especialistas seleccionados en la plataforma Lattes. Para el análisis de los datos se utilizó el Índice de Validez del Contenido (IVC) con un valor mínimo establecido de 0.78. Resultados: Se contó con la participación de siete especialistas con experiencia en educación sanitaria, tecnologías educativas y/o diabetes mellitus. En cuanto a los objetivos, la estructura, la presentación y la pertinencia, todos los temas presentaron un IVC global de 0.96. Conclusiones: Los expertos consideraron que la guía didáctica era válida, además de ser una herramienta que ayudaría al profesional de la salud durante el examen de pie en personas con diabetes mellitus.

Primary Health Care professionals’ knowledge about initial care for burn victims

ABSTRACT Objectives: to assess Primary Health Care physicians and nurses’ knowledge about initial care for burn patients. Methods: a descriptive cross-sectional survey of 71 professionals between February 19 and March 30, 2018. A validated questionnaire was used to assess knowledge through the correct answers obtained in the tool; Mann-Whitney test to compare professionals’ level of knowledge; and logistic regression to investigate the association with other variables. Results: there was an overall wrong answer rate of 40.27% in a tool applied to the subject in relation to physicians and 45.59% of nurses, with no statistically significant difference among them (p=0.27). There was a positive association between level of knowledge and length of practice in Primary Health Care (p=0.043). 29.19% of physicians and 14.89% of nurses knew the Ministry of Health’s flowchart for initial care for burn victims. Conclusions: professionals had a low level of knowledge associated with their time in Primary Health Care.

Estrutura dimensional da satisfação dos usuários da Saúde da Família

O estudo objetiva analisar a estrutura dimensional do instrumento SERVQUAL, utilizado para mensuração da satisfação dos usuários de serviço de saúde pública na atenção básica. Estudo quantitativo, realizado por meio de um survey com 353 usuários da Estratégia Saúde da Família. Os participantes foram: gênero feminino (71,7%); idades entre 31 e 40 anos (30,9%) e com Ensino Médio completo (43,3%).  Na análise do ajuste do modelo, os resultados foram insatisfatórios para os critérios estabelecidos. Sugeriu-se um novo modelo dado o contexto específico da saúde pública que apresentou resultados adequados para todos os critérios. Os resultados foram satisfatórios para validade convergente e discriminante. O estudo implica na indicação de um novo modelo ajustado, utilizado para a compreensão da satisfação de usuários da saúde da família, que, testado em estudos futuros na área de enfermagem e saúde pública, com análise aprofundadas que discutam os achados desta pesquisa, consolidem um novo instrumento analítico.

Análise da Perspectiva dos Acadêmicos de Odontologia Acerca do Uso da Laserterapia no Tratamento de Lesões Bucais Associadas ao Herpes Tipo 1

Objetivo: analisar a perspectiva dos acadêmicos de odontologia acerca do uso da laserterapia no tratamento do herpes tipo 1. Material e Métodos: estudo metodológico exploratório descritivo de abordagem quantitativa realizado no período de maio a junho de 2018, com 146 discentes de Odontologia de uma instituição de ensino privado superior, no município de Teresina - PI, por meio de questionário estruturado. Foram excluídos os discentes que não cursaram as disciplinas de Semiologia, Periodontia e Patologia Oral e que reprovaram nas respectivas disciplinas. Foram incluídos aqueles que apresentaram aprovação nas disciplinas de pré-requisito e que estão em atendimento clínico. Os dados foram analisados utilizando técnicas estatísticas descritivas, inferenciais e análises comparativas digitadas e analisados no SPSS na versão 13,0, com margem de erro de 5%. Este estudo encontra-se aprovado no Comite de Ética e Pesquisa sobre o parecer nº 2.861,891. Resultados: Em relação ao conhecimento da coloração da lesão, 48,63%, evidenciaram a cor avermelhada quando relacionada ao herpes e 40,41% desconhecem o tamanho da lesão. Em relação ao tempo de duração da lesão, o estudo revelou que 39,4% conheciam a frequência de duração da lesão e, quando associado à textura, 45,20% demonstraram não saber acerca da lesão tipo simples. No estudo, verificou-se que 75% desconhecem qual o tipo de laser deve ser escolhido para o tratamento, assim como 56,16% desconhecem o tempo de reutilização da terapia, 65,75 desconhecem a característica de recidiva após a utilização do uso do laser e 80,13 desconhecem o período de recidiva após a utilização do laser. Conclusão: concluiu-se que o conhecimento do herpes simples e da laserterapia tiveram relevância, pois os acadêmicos desconhecem a patologia herpes simples e a laserterapia como tratamento do mesmo. O laser foi considerado uma tecnologia eficaz, que permitirá tratamento rápido, efetivo e indolor e contribuirá para a diminuição das intervenções medicamentosas e para o custo-beneficio

Social representations of HIV/AIDS by older people and the interface with prevention

OBJECTIVE

To apprehend the social representations elaborated by older people about HIV/AIDS and to understand how they relate to the prevention of HIV infection.

METHOD

Descriptive and qualitative research based on the Theory of Social Representations with 42 older people assisted at primary care. Data were produced through in-depth interviews with a semi-structured instrument, processed in the IRaMuTeQ software, and analyzed by means of the descending hierarchical classification.

RESULTS

Five classes emerged: "HIV/AIDS: a problem of young people"; "Quality of life improvement for people living with HIV/AIDS"; "Vulnerability to HIV/AIDS among heterosexual women in a stable union"; "HIV/AIDS Information Network: process of creation and transformation of social representations" and "Prevention versus stigma".

FINAL CONSIDERATIONS

The social representations that older people have about HIV/AIDS influence the adoption of preventive measures negatively because stigma is present and HIV/AIDS is attributed to young men, and to men who have sex with other men.

A PERSPECTIVA DO USUÁRIO NA ATENÇÃO BÁSICA SOBRE O ACOLHIMENTO AO IDOSO

Introdução: O acolhimento, uma das diretrizes da Politica Nacional de Humanização, constitui-se em tecnologia para reorganização dos serviços, permitindo a garantia de acesso universal e humanização do atendimento. Objetivo: Este trabalho analisou a perspectiva do usuário na Atenção Básica sobre o acolhimento ao idoso. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo descritivo e analítico composto por usuários, com idade igual e superior a 60 anos, vinculados a Unidade de Saúde da Família do município de Natal/RN. A pesquisa foi aprovada com parecer nº 1.808.237. Para a coleta dos dados utilizou-se a entrevista semiestruturada e os dados foram analisados por meio da Análise de Conteúdo de Bardin. Resultados: Emergiram as seguires categorias: (1)Cuidado - o acolhimento foi correlacionado ao cuidado e respeito com a pessoa, visto como uma concepção ampla; (2) Acesso - verificou-se a relação direta com a espera prolongada no gerenciamento de consultas e de assistência médica; Resolutividade (3) — evidenciou novamente a burocratização do sistema de saúde e a busca por serviços privados demonstrou ser a opção de escolha. Conclusão: Concluiu-se que a perspectiva sobre o acolhimento à pessoa idosa na Atenção Básica é visto com muitas fragilidades, sobressaindo as contradições na humanização das ações em saúde.

ADAPTAÇÃO CULTURAL DE UM INSTRUMENTO PARA AVALIAR AS INTERVENÇÕES DE EDUCAÇÃO TERAPÊUTICA À PESSOA COM DIABETES

Objetivo: adaptar culturalmente a Escala de Educação Terapêutica para o Comportamento do Autocuidado à Pessoacom Diabetes para o português do Brasil. Método: estudo metodológico, com análise semântica e análise de conteúdo,realizado na cidade de Teresina, Piauí, entre janeiro e julho de 2017. Foi realizada avaliação das equivalências semântica,idiomática, cultural e conceitual por oito enfermeiros. Na análise de conteúdo, foi desenvolvido um brainstormingcom participação de 12 especialistas. A avaliação da pertinência prática, relevância e dimensão teórica foi feitapor sete profissionais experts. Resultado: as etapas de adaptação cultural foram bem-sucedidas, e as equivalênciassemântico-idiomáticas, culturais e conceituais foram suficientemente alcançadas. Dos 34 itens do instrumento, 29sofreram alterações. Obteve-se Índice de Validade de Conteúdo de 0,93 para o conjunto total de itens. Conclusão:evidenciou-se que os itens são pertinentes à cultura brasileira e avaliam aspectos na perspectiva do instrumento original,demonstrando evidências da adaptação cultural.

Training in diabetes education: meanings attributed by primary care nurses

OBJECTIVE

seize meanings attributed by primary care nurses to training in diabetes education.

METHOD

exploratory and descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, with twenty primary care nurses; semistructured interview script, with interviews processed in the IRaMuTeQ software and analyzed through the Descending Hierarchical Classification. The results were subsidized in the Representational Theory of Meaning.

RESULTS

nurse training in diabetes education is insufficient for holistic action, although it allows the community to be instrumentalized in specific issues about the disease, using the limited tools available, especially lectures. Nurses find themselves in a context of challenges, improvisations, weaknesses, and limitations that determine the meaning attributed to diabetes education and subsequent actions.

CONCLUSION

the meanings attributed by the nurses revealed an incipient training, which limits the quality of care provided and instigates the search for qualification.

Scientific production on falls and deaths among elderly persons: a bibliometric analysis

Abstract Objective: To map international scientific production on falls and deaths among the elderly. Method: A bibliometric study of academic papers was carried out in the ISI Web of Knowledge/Web of ScienceTM. The search terms "elderly*", "fall*" and "death*" were used for studies between 1990 and 2016. Articles from events or those still in the editing process and studies in the form of "conference proceedings", "editorial material" and "letters" were excluded, with only finished studies and complete "articles" and "reviews" considered. Results: After applying the refinement filters, 668 articles were identified during the 26 year evaluation period, published in 364 different journals indexed to the database in question. These were written by 2,958 authors with links to 1131 research institutions located in 63 countries. The articles included 22,093 references, with an average of approximately 33 references per study. Conclusion: The articles on falls and deaths among the elderly emphasize the need for more specific studies on the subject and its potential for exploration in future research. This study revealed the need for this issue to be discussed in the training of health professionals, as it represents an opportunity to deconstruct and reconstruct concepts and values that are established throughout the life of individuals, such as care related to the avoidability of falls, to improve the quality of life of this population.

Evaluation of Stress Distribution in Endodontically Weakened Teeth Restored with Different Crown Materials: 3D-FEA Analysis

This study evaluated the stress distribution in endodontically treated teeth, weakened (W) or not weakened (NW), restored with different materials of prosthetic crown using 3D-FEA. Models of a maxillary canine were constructed based on micro-CT images and divided into the groups: G1 (control) - sound tooth; G2 to G7 - endodontically treated teeth restored with glass fiber post (GFP); which G2 to G4 simulated NW root and G5 to G7 simulated W root. For crown material the teeth were restored with: G2 and G5: metallic coping and ceramic veneering, G3 and G6: zirconia coping and ceramic veneering, G4 and G7: alumina coping and ceramic veneering. Load of 180 N was applied at the incisal third of lingual surface at 45º. Models were supported by the periodontal ligament (x=y=z=0). The von Mises stress (VMS) values were calculated. The W teeth presented higher VMS at coping when compared to NW teeth and group G1 showed lower VMS value. For crown material, for both W or NW teeth, increasing VMS was found at metallic, zirconia and alumina coping, respectively. Metallic coping showed a better performance despite its unfavorable esthetics, suggesting as an appropriate material for prosthetic restoration of endodontically treated teeth.

Objective

to evaluate the clinical outcome of elderly patients admitted to intensive care units who had nosocomial infection, correlating the findings with sociodemographic and clinical variables.

Method

descriptive research, performed with 308 elderly patients. The collection was made from medical records and covers the years 2012 to 2015. Uni-/bivariate analyses were performed.

Results

a statistical association was found between the clinical outcome types and the variables age, length of stay, presence of previous comorbidities, main diagnosis, respiratory and urinary tract infections, use of central venous and indwelling urinary catheters, mechanical ventilation, and tracheostomy. The survival curve showed higher mortality among the elderly from the age of 80 on.

Conclusion

the clinical outcome of the elderly who acquire infection in the intensive care unit is influenced by sociodemographic and clinical variables that increase mortality rates.

Similarity Analysis About The Training Of Family Health Strategy Professionals For The Psychosocial Care Of The Elderly

Background: Elderly mental health is an important topic of discussion to Brazilian public health because it involves factors related to the training of health professionals focused on these demands in the Family Health Strategy. Objectives: To make a similarity analysis about the training of the Family Health Strategy professionals for psychosocial care for the elderly. Methodology: Qualitative research carried out with 31 professionals from the Family Health Strategy in the city of Picos, Piauí, Brazil. Data were collected through a semi-structured interview script. The interviews were performed in a reserved room and recorded with the aid of an MP4 player. The data were processed by the IRAMUTEQ software and analyzed through similarity analysis that is based on graph theory. Results: The study participants were 13 doctors and 18 nurses, 27 (87.09%) were female. The training time of these professionals was comprised between 2 to 32 years of training and the duration of the Health Strategy from 1 year to 16 years. According to the co-occurrence tree, the data indicate that: the word "elderly" is at the heart of the ramifications and expresses how family and professionals can contribute to treatment; another demonstrated representation is that it is difficult for professionals to carry out their activities with the elderly due to lack of training in the specific area of ​​mental health. Conclusion: the family plays a fundamental role in the elderly care with psychosocial needs and the professionals of the Family Health Strategy present difficulties to carry out comprehensive care due to deficiencies in their training. Fungal contamination in white medical coats of dentistry professionals

Background: The white medical coats used by health professionals may serve as a source of infection in health services because it is a potential vehicle for transmission of microorganisms. There are several studies that warn of the inherent dangers in bacterial contamination in lab coats, but there are few reports of fungal contamination in this personal protection equipment. Aims: The study aims to identify fungi in dental lab coats. Method: Samples were collected from ten dentists from a dentistry-school clinic of a higher education institution of Teresina, Piauí, Brazil, using sterile swab, soaked in saline contained in a test tube. Each sample was inoculated on chloramphenicol-containing Saboroud Dextrose agar and incubated at room temperature for fungal growth. Phenotypic and biochemical methods were used to identify the colonies. Results: Fungal growth was observed in all samples of the lab coats, and 19 isolates were counted. The genera Cladosporium and Aspergillus were the most frequent in this study. The results emphasize the role of fungi as contaminants in lab coats; and, as an effective means of transmission of pathogens in the community. Conclusions: This study suggests a methodology for the proper washing and decontamination of the lab coat and advocates the need to implement more rigid norms in concern to the use of lab coats, as well as educational campaigns to guide dentists about the correct use of this Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). Social Representations on ethical and bioethic aspects in research

Objective: the study aims to analyze the social representations on the ethical and bioethical aspects in the research elaborated by academics of the Dentistry Course. Methods: it is a qualitative research based on the Theory of Social Representations carried out with 80 academics of the Dentistry course. The data were collected through a semi-structured interview script, processed in the IRaMuTeQ and analyzed by the Descending Hierarchical Classification. The study followed the ethical standards recommended by Resolution n. 466/2012, obtaining approval from the Ethics Committee of UNINOVAFAPI University Center. Results: The corpus analyzed in the study is composed of 79 units of initial context (UCI) with use of 62%. The results are presented in four classes, namely: 4. The understanding of Ethics and Bioethics in research; 3. Researcher's social position; 1. Legal responsibilities of the researcher and 2. Normative aspects of research ethics - legal basis. Conclusion: Scholars represent ethical and bioethical aspects in research as essential to respect human dignity and protect the lives of research participants, with a focus on normative aspects of research ethics through Research Committees. Satisfaction of users of the Family Health Strategy in a capital city of Northeast Brazil

Objective: To analyze the satisfaction of users of the Family Health Strategy in relation to the Reliability and Safety aspects. Method: This is a quantitative research carried out with 353 participants enrolled in an Integrated Health Center of the eastern region of a capital in the Northeast Brazil, through the SERVQUAL instrument. The data collection took place from January to May 2015, the research was approved by the Ethics and Research Committee of the UNINOVAFAPI University Center. Results: The results indicated that in the Reliability dimension, participants agreed that the healthcare professionals record the attendance, perform on the promised date and have an interest in solving the problems. In the Security dimension, the majority of the participants were indifferent as to the behavior of the professionals generating confidence. They demonstrated security in requesting the services because they were politely attended by the professionals. Moreover, in the two dimensions analyzed, it was noticed that there is a tendency to increase satisfaction as the participants' income decreases with significant statistical relations, with satisfaction on Reliability and Security inversely proportional to income. Conclusion: It is considered that users of the Family Health Strategy have demonstrated satisfaction with the services received, however, there is a need for more studies with different methodological approaches to better elucidate the intersubjective issues that shape the process of interaction between users, healthcare professionals and services. Bonding Effectiveness of Universal Adhesive to Intracoronal Bleached Dentin Treated with Sodium Ascorbate

Abstract This study evaluated the effect of restorative protocol with sodium ascorbate on the shear bond strength (SBS) of a universal adhesive to intracoronal bleached dentin. One hundred-and-twenty bovine dentin fragments were randomly divided into 12 groups (n=10), according to the bleaching procedure (unbleached and bleached) and restorative protocol (no treatment, 10% sodium ascorbate -10SA, 35% sodium ascorbate -35SA and two-step etch-and-rinse -ER or one-step self-etch -SE Scotchbond universal adhesive approaches). Four whitening sessions were performed using 35% hydrogen peroxide. The samples from control groups were kept in relative humidity at 37 °C. Immediately after bleaching procedures, the assigned antioxidant solution was applied on dentin and restorative procedures were performed following either the ER or the SE approach. After 24 h, the specimens were subjected to SBS test. Data (MPa) were analyzed by ANOVA and Tukey's test (?=0.05). Lower SBS values were found for bleached specimens (8.54 MPa) compared with those unbleached (12.13 MPa) (p<0.05). The bond strength of the sodium ascorbate-treated groups was higher than those untreated, regardless of the strategy employed (p<0.05). Groups restored without sodium ascorbate showed lower bond strength values for both ER (8.32 MPa) and SE (8.28 MPa) adhesive strategies. The group treated with 10SA submitted to ER approach (10.14 MPa) was similar to untreated groups (p>0.05). It may be concluded that bond strength of composite resin to intracoronal dentin was affected by restorative protocol and reduced by bleaching.

Representações sociais das infecções hospitalares elaboradas pelos profissionais de saúde

O estudo objetivou apreender e analisar as Representações Sociais das Infecções Hospitalares elaboradas pelos profissionais e estudantes de saúde de um hospital público de Teresina-PI. Pesquisa descritiva, com abordagem qualitativa. Os dados foram produzidos a partir do teste de associação livre de palavras, e processados pelo software Tri-Deux Mots, que deram origem a 563 palavras como respostas para os estímulos: Infecção hospitalar, procedimentos invasivos, esterilização de material, precaução padrão. O posicionamento dos sujeitos da pesquisa frente à infecção hospitalar foi evidenciado com evocações, tais como: paramentação, sondagem e mãos. O resultado reforça a ênfase dada pelos profissionais da saúde à paramentação para sua própria proteção e a do paciente durante procedimentos invasivos, ressaltando a importância do cuidado com as mãos.
