Abstract
Listeria monocytogenes (LM) is one of the most invasive foodborne pathogens that cause listeriosis, making it imperative to explore novel inhibiting strategies for alleviating its infection. The adhesion and invasion of LM within host cells are partly orchestrated by an invasin protein internalin A (InlA), which facilitates bacterial passage by interacting with the host cell E-cadherin (E-Cad). Hence, in this work, we proposed an aptamer blocking strategy by binding to the region on InlA that directly mediated E-Cad receptor engagement, thereby alleviating LM infection. An aptamer GA8 with a robust G-quadruplex (G4) structural feature was designed through truncation and base mutation from the original aptamer A8. The molecular docking and dynamics analysis showed that the InlA/aptamer GA8 binding interface was highly overlapping with the natural InlA/E-Cad binding interface, which confirmed that GA8 can tightly and stably bind InlA and block more distinct epitopes on InlA that involved the interaction with E-Cad. On the cellular level, it was confirmed that GA8 effectively blocked LM adhesion with an inhibition rate of 78%. Overall, the robust G4 aptamer-mediated design provides a new direction for the development of inhibitors against other wide-ranging and emerging pathogens.

Abstract
Sarafloxacin (SAR), one of the most widely used fluoroquinolone antibiotics, is a serious threat to aquatic environments and human health due to its illegal abuse. Herein, we first screened an aptamer (SAR-1) that specifically binds to SAR using capture-SELEX technology. Based on molecular docking technology, SAR-1 was gradually truncated, and a short SAR-1a with better affinity and specificity was obtained. The optimal SAR-1a was further combined with a Pt nanoparticle (Pt NP)- decorated bimetallic Fe/Co-MOF to fabricate a multimode sensing platform for SAR determination. The Fe/Co-MOF@Pt NPs exhibited excellent peroxidase-like activity, which catalyzed the H2O2-mediated oxidation of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB), thereby enabling visual detection of SAR. Meanwhile, the generated oxTMB can also produce SERS responses and be used for the SERS detection of SAR. Moreover, the inherent fluorescence property of Fe/Co-MOF@Pt NPs enabled fluorescence detection of SAR. The designed triple-readout aptasensor showed good sensitivity for SAR detection with limits of detection of 0.125 ng/mL (fluorescent mode) and 0.05 ng/mL (colorimetric and SERS mode). The aptamer-based triple-mode sensing platform provided mutual verification of detection results in different output modes, effectively improving the assay accuracy and providing a promising tool for highly sensitive, selective, and accurate determination of SAR in daily life.

Abstract
Shiga toxin type II (Stx2), the major virulence component of enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli, is strongly associated with the life-threatening hemolytic uremic syndrome thus posing a substantial risk to food safety and human health. In this work, a dual-mode aptasensor with colorimetric and surface-enhanced Raman scattering was developed for Stx2 specific detection based on noble metal nanoparticles and Raman reporter loaded metal-organic framework (Mn/Fe-MIL(53)@AuNSs-MBA). The Mn/Fe-MIL(53)@AuNSs could catalyze the H2O2-mediated oxidation of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB), thereby enabling visual detection. Meanwhile, the SERS signal from MBA can be enhanced by the decorated AuNSs. Under optimal conditions, a linear range of 0.05-500 ng/mL with limit of detection (LOD) of 26 pg/mL was achieved in colorimetric mode and a linear range of 5-1000 ng/mL with LOD of 0.82 ng/mL in SERS mode, in which the dual-mode results complement each other, widening the linear range, increasing the accuracy and reliability of the detection. The method was further applied to the detection of Stx2 in milk with average recovery of 101.1 %, demonstrating its superior potential for bacterial toxin monitoring.

Abstract
Building multifunctional platforms for integrating the detection and control of hazards has great significance in food safety and environment protection. Herein, bimetallic Fe-Co-based metal-organic frameworks (Fe-Co-MOFs) peroxidase mimics are prepared and applied to develop a bifunctional platform for the synergetic sensitive detection and controllable degradation of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1). On the one hand, Fe-Co-MOFs with excellent peroxidase-like activity are combined with target-induced catalyzed hairpin assembly (CHA) to construct a colorimetric aptasensor for the detection of AFB1. Specifically, the binding of aptamer with AFB1 releases the prelocked Trigger to initiate the CHA cycle between hairpin H2-modified Fe-Co-MOFs and hairpin H1-tethered magnetic nanoparticles to form complexes. After magnetic separation, the colorimetric signal of the supernatant in the presence of TMB and H2O2 is inversely proportional to the target contents. Under optimal conditions, this biosensor enables the analysis of AFB1 with a limit of detection of 6.44 pg/mL, and high selectivity and satisfactory recovery in real samples are obtained. On the other hand, Fe-Co-MOFs with remarkable Fenton-like catalytic degradation performance for organic contaminants are further used for the detoxification of AFB1 after colorimetric detection. The AFB1 is almost completely removed within 120 min. Overall, the introduction of CHA improves the sensing sensitivity; efficient postcolorimetric-detection degradation of AFB1 reduces the secondary contamination and risk to the experimental environment and operators. This strategy is expected to provide ideas for designing other multifunctional platforms to integrate the detection and degradation of various hazards.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Maillard reaction involves the polymerization, condensation, and other reactions between compounds containing free amino groups and reducing sugars or carbonyl compounds during heat processing. This process endows unique flavors and colors to food, while it can also produce numerous hazards. Acrylamide (AAm) is one of Maillard's hazards with neurotoxicity and carcinogenicity, these effects can trigger mutations and alternations in gene expression in human cells and accelerate organ aging. An accurate and reliable acrylamide detection method with high sensitivity and specificity for future regulatory activities is urgently needed. RESULTS Herein, we constructed a colorimetric aptasensor with the hybridization of MIL-glucose oxidase (MGzyme)-cDNA and magnetic nanoparticle-aptamer (MNP-Apt) to specifically detect AAm. The incorporation of MB-Apt and AAm released MGzyme-cDNA in the supernatant, took the supernatant out, with the addition of glucose and TMB, MGzyme would oxidize glucose, the resulting •OH facilitated the oxidation of colorless TMB to blue ox-TMB. The absorbance value at 652 nm, which indicates the characteristic absorption peak of ox-TMB, exhibited a proportion to the concentration of AAm. MGzyme avoided the addition of harmful intermediate H2O2 and created an acid microenvironment for the catalytic reaction. MNP-Apt possessed the advantages of high specificity and simplified separation. Under optimal conditions, this method displayed a linear range of 0.01-100 μM with the limit of detection of 1.53 nM. With the spiked analysis data cross-verified by ELISA kit, this aptasensor was proven to specifically detect AAm at low concentrations. SIGNIFICANCE This colorimetric aptasensor was the integration of aptamer and the enzyme-cascade system, which could broaden the applicable range of enzyme-cascade system, break the limits of specific detection of substrates, eliminate the need for harmful intermediates, improve the reaction efficiency, implement the specific detection, whilst enabling the accurate detection of AAm. Given these remarkable performances, this method has shown significant potential in the field of food safety inspection.

Abstract
Acrylamide (AA) is a heat-processed potent food carcinogen that is widely used in industry, posing a significant risk to human health. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the toxic effects and mechanism of AA. miR-21 is a representative biomarker during AA-induced carcinogenesis. Here, dual-color aggregation-induced emission nanoparticles (AIENPs) were developed for the detection and simultaneous imaging of AA and miR-21. AIENPs were synthesized by combining aggregation-induced emission (AIE) dyes and a poly (styrene-co-maleic anhydride) (PSMA) amphiphilic polymer modified with hairpin DNA. Upon AA intervention and aptamer recognition, cDNA was dissociated, leading to miR-21 overexpression and initiating the catalytic hairpin assembly cycle. Consequently, fluorescence quenching was observed due to FRET between AIENPs and labeled quenchers. The relative fluorescence intensities of dual-color AIENPs displayed good linear relationships with logarithmic AA and miR-21 concentrations. Moreover, there was a gradual decrease in dual-color AIENP fluorescence as the HepG2 cell concentration of AA (0-500 μM) and stimulation time (0-12 h) increased, making it possible to simultaneously image AA and AA-induced miR-21. The findings of this work are valuable for revealing the cytotoxic mechanism of AA.

Abstract
Deoxynivalenol (DON) is a mycotoxin secreted by Fusarium species, posing great harm to food safety and human health. Therefore, it is of great significance to study its toxic effects and mechanism. miR-34a is a representative biomarker during the process of DON-induced apoptosis. Herein, a DON-triggered dual-color composite probe was constructed for simultaneous imaging of DON and miR-34a in living cells. The aptamer blocks the recognition sequence of miR-34a to realize DON-triggered cell imaging. The specific binding of DON with its aptamer and HCR induced by miR-34a resulted in the recovery of fluorescence of the dual-color Au NCs. Under the optimal conditions, the correlation between the relative fluorescence intensities of dual-color Au NCs showed good linear relationships with the logarithm of DON and miR-34a concentration, respectively. With the increase in DON concentration (0-20 μg/mL) and stimulation time (0-12 h), the fluorescence of dual-color Au NCs gradually recovered. This dual-color Au NCs composite probe can realize simultaneous detection of DON and miR-34a induced by DON, which is significant for verifying the cytotoxic mechanism of DON.

Abstract
Herein, a SiO2@Ag NPs core/shell nanoparticles were synthesized to fabricate a surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) sensor for the simultaneous determination of histamine (HIS) and tyramine (TYR) based on specific aptamer recognition and ratiometric strategy. SiO2@Ag NPs with 4-thiosaminophenol (4-ATP) and Nile blue A (NBA) molecules were used as an internal standard (IS) and labeled with aptamers corresponding to HIS and TYR, respectively. Raman reporter molecules ROX and Cy5 labeled complementary DNA (cDNA) were then hybridized with aptamers to form rigid double-stranded DNA. After the HIS and TYR were captured by their aptamers, resulting in the dissociation of cDNA and separated from the SERS substrate. Therefore, the SERS signal intensity at 1503 cm-1 of ROX and 1358 cm-1 of Cy5 tagged on the terminal of cDNA decreased with the concentration of HIS and TYR increasing, while the SERS signal intensity at 1079 cm-1 of 4-APT and 592 cm-1 of NBA on the substrate remain stable. Thus, the concentrations of HIS and TYR can be determined by the I1503/I1079 and I1358/I592 values, respectively. This sensing strategy achieves a lower detection limit of 0.2 ng/mL for HIS and 0.05 ng/mL for TYR, respectively, demonstrating promising applications in sensitive detection of BAs in animal-derived foodstuff.

Abstract
A portable paper-based microfluidic aptasensor is established to simultaneously and visually detect zearalenone (ZEN) and ochratoxin A (OTA). The targets at the sample zone can migrate to two detection zones through dual-channels and result in green and blue fluorescence recovery. This is due to the specific recognition by a respective aptamer that destroys fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) from dual-color upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) to Cu-TCPP nanosheets. By capturing fluorescent images and analyzing the corresponding RGB value via a smartphone, ZEN and OTA can be analyzed with limits of detection down to 0.44 ng/mL and 0.098 ng/mL in the linear ranges of 0.5-100 ng/mL and 0.1-50 ng/mL, respectively. Satisfactory recoveries are also obtained for ZEN (94.5-103.7 %) and OTA (92.2-106.8 %) in corn flour. With the advantages of simple operation, low sample consumption, and broad adaptability, this promising platform allows for the on-site detection of multiple hazards in food.

Abstract
Deoxynivalenol (DON), a common mycotoxin produced by Fusarium species, poses a great threat to human and animal body. Hence, it is of significance to develop an ultrasensitive and reliable method for DON detection. Herein, a fluorescence and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (FL-SERS) dual-mode aptasensor was designed for the detection of DON based on gold nanoclusters (Au NCs) and silver nanoparticles modified metal-polydopamine framework (Ag NPs/MPDA). In this aptasensor, complementary DNA modified Au NCs (cDNA-Au NCs) was selected as fluorescence probe, and 6-carboxytetramethylrhodamine (TAMRA)-labeled aptamer modified Ag NPs/MPDA (Ag NPs/MPDA-Apt-TAMRA) was employed as SERS probe, in which Ag NPs/MPDA acted as SERS substance and fluorescence quencher, and TAMRA acted as Raman label. The superior binding affinity of the aptamer with DON to cDNA can regulate the fluorescence and Raman signal intensities and realize the quantitative determination of DON. Under the optimal conditions, the aptasensor exhibited a low detection limit of 0.08 ng mL-1 (0.1-100 ng mL-1) in FL mode and 0.06 ng mL-1 (0.1-100 ng mL-1) in SERS mode. In addition, it was successfully applied for DON detection in wheat flour. We believe that the proposed FL-SERS strategy has a promising application in the detection of mycotoxins.

Abstract
Food safety is a global issue in public hygiene. The accurate, sensitive, and on-site detection of various food contaminants performs significant implications. However, traditional methods suffer from the time-consuming and professional operation, restricting their on-site application. Hydrogels with the merits of highly porous structure, high biocompatibility, good shape-adaptability, and stimuli-responsiveness offer a promising biomaterial to design sensors for ensuring food safety. This review describes the emerging applications of hydrogel-based sensors in food safety inspection in recent years. In particular, this study elaborates on their fabrication strategies and unique sensing mechanisms depending on whether the hydrogel is stimuli-responsive or not. Stimuli-responsive hydrogels can be integrated with various functional ligands for sensitive and convenient detection via signal amplification and transduction; while non-stimuli-responsive hydrogels are mainly used as solid-state encapsulating carriers for signal probe, nanomaterial, or cell and as conductive media. In addition, their existing challenges, future perspectives, and application prospects are discussed. These practices greatly enrich the application scenarios and improve the detection performance of hydrogel-based sensors in food safety detection.

Abstract
Excessive use of antibiotics in aquaculture severely endangers human health and ecosystems, which has raised significant concerns in recent years. However, conventional laboratory-based approaches regularly required time or skilled manpower. Herein, we propose a point-of-care-testing (POCT) biosensor detection device for the simultaneous determination of multiantibiotics without complex equipment or professional operators. A laser-printed paper-based microfluidic chip loaded with multicolor fluorescence nanoprobes (mCD-μPAD) was developed to rapidly detect sulfamethazine (SMZ), oxytetracycline (OTC), and chloramphenicol (CAP) on-site. These "fluorescence off" detection probes composed of carbon dots (CDs) conjugated with aptamers (donor) and MoS2 nanosheets (acceptor) (CD-apt-MoS2) were based on Förster resonance energy transfer. Upon the addition of target antibiotics, the significantly recovered fluorescence signal on the μPAD can be sensitively perceived by employing a 3D-printed portable detection box through a smartphone. Under optimal conditions, this μPAD allowed for a rapid response of 15 min toward SMZ, OTC, and CAP with considerable sensitivities of 0.47, 0.48, and 0.34 ng/mL, respectively. In shrimp samples, the recoveries were 95.2-101.2, 96.4-105, and 96.7-106.1% with RSD below 6%. This paper-based sensor opens an avenue for on-site, high-throughput, and rapid detection methods and can be widely used in POCT in food safety.

Abstract
With the growing concern of illegal abuse of amantadine (AMD) and its potential harmful impact on humans, detection of AMD has become an urgent food safety and environmental topic. Biosensing is a promising method for this, but the effective recognition of AMD still remains a challenge. Herein, we isolated an aptamer (Am-20) for AMD through a 14-round iterative selection based on capture-SELEX. The preliminary interaction mechanism between AMD and Am-20 was clarified with the help of docking simulations. Facilitated by a base mutation and truncation strategy, an optimized aptamer Am-20-1 with a short length of 62-mer was obtained, which exhibited competitive affinity with a Kd value of 33.90 ± 5.16 nM. A structure-switching SERS-based aptasensor based on Am-20-1 was then established for AMD quantification via a binary metal nanoparticle-embedded Raman reporter substrate (AuNRs@ATP@AgNPs). The fabricated strategy showed a wide linear range (0.005∼25 ng/mL) and a low limit of detection (0.001 ng/mL) for AMD determination. We envision that the novel aptamer identified in this study will provide a complementary tool for specific recognition and detection of AMD and could assist in the supervision of illegal abuse of AMD.

Abstract
DNA walker machines, as one of the dynamic DNA nanodevices, have attracted extensive interest in the field of analysis due to their inherent superiority. Herein, we reported a split aptamer remodeling-initiated target-self-service 3D-DNA walker for ultrasensitive, specific, and high-signal-background ratio determination of 17β-estradiol (E2) in food samples. Two split probes (STWS-a and STWS-b) were rationally designed that can undergo structural reassembled to serve as walking strands (STWS) under the induction of the target. Meanwhile, an intact E6-DNAzyme region was formed and activated at the tail of STWS. The activated E6-DNAzyme then continuously drives the 3D-DNA walker for signal amplification and specific detection of E2. Under optimal conditions, the proposed DNA walker-based biosensor exhibited excellent linearity in the range of 1 pM to 50 nM with a low limit of detection (LOD) of 0.28 pM, and good precision (2.7%) for 11 replicate determinations of 1 nM of E2. Furthermore, the developed DNA walker-based biosensor achieved excellent sensitive analysis of E2 in the complex food matrix with recoveries of 95.6-106.5%. This newly proposed split aptamer-based strategy has the advantages of ultrasensitive, high signal-to-background ratio, and high stability. Noteworthy, the successful operation of the DNA walker initiated by the split aptamer expands the principles of DNA walker design and provides a universal signal amplification platform for trace analysis.

Abstract
Aptamers against deoxynivalenol (DON) were selected through capture-systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment. Through isothermal titration calorimetry and fluorimetric assay, aptamer candidate DN-2 demonstrated good affinity to DON with Kd value of 40.36 ± 6.32 nM. Accordingly, a Forster resonance energy transfer aptasensor was fabricated by using the aptamer DN-2 combined with AuCu bimetallic nanoclusters as energy donor and MoS2 nanosheets as energy acceptor. Under the optimal conditions, the fluorescence response was utilized for DON quantitative determination ranging from 5 to 100 ng/mL with a detection limit of 1.87 ng/mL. The practical application of this method was verified in maize flour samples and demonstrated a satisfied recovery of 94.6 ~ 103.1%. The obtained aptamers and their application in DON determination provide a new tool for DON monitoring in various foodstuff.

Abstract
Deoxynivalenol (DON) is a typical mycotoxin in cereals and poses tremendous threats to the ecological environment and public health. Therefore, exploiting sensitive and robust analytical methods for DON is particularly important. Here, we fabricated a CRISPR-Cas12a-mediated luminescence resonance energy transfer (LRET) aptasensor to detect DON by using single-stranded DNA modified upconversion nanoparticles (ssDNA-UCNPs) as anti-interference luminescence labels and gold nanoparticle-decorated Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets (MXene-Au) as enhanced quenchers. The DON aptamer can activate the trans-cleavage activity of Cas12a to indiscriminately cut nearby ssDNA-UCNPs into small fragments, which prevents ssDNA-UCNPs from adsorbing onto MXene-Au, and the upconversion luminescence (UCL) remains. Upon the binding of the aptamer with DON, the trans-cleavage activity of Cas12a was suppressed, and the ssDNA-UCNPs were not cleaved and easily adsorbed onto MXene-Au, which caused UCL quenching. Under optimized conditions, the limit of detection was determined to be 0.64 ng/mL with a linear range of 1 - 500 ng/mL. In addition, the sensor was successfully applied to detect DON in corn flour and Tai Lake water with recoveries of 96.2 - 105% and 95.2 - 104%, respectively. This platform achieves a sensitive and specific analysis of DON and greatly broadens the detection range of CRISPR-Cas sensors for non-nucleic acids hazards in the environment and food.

Abstract
Mycotoxins, which are toxic secondary metabolites produced by fungi, are harmful to humans. Mycotoxin-induced contamination has drawn attention worldwide. Consequently, the development of reliable and sensitive detection methods and high-efficiency control strategies for mycotoxins is important to safeguard food industry safety and public health. With the rapid development of nanotechnology, many novel nanomaterials that provide tremendous opportunities for greatly improving the detection and control performance of mycotoxins because of their unique properties have emerged. This review comprehensively summarizes recent trends in the application of nanomaterials for detecting mycotoxins (fluorescence, colorimetric, surface-enhanced Raman scattering, electrochemical, and point-of-care testing) and controlling mycotoxins (inhibition of fungal growth, mycotoxin absorption, and degradation). These detection methods possess the advantages of high sensitivity and selectivity, operational simplicity, and rapidity. With research attention on the control of mycotoxins and the gradual excavation of the properties of nanomaterials, nanomaterials are also employed for the inhibition of fungal growth, mycotoxin absorption, and mycotoxin degradation, and impressive controlling effects are obtained. This review is expected to provide the readers insight into this state-of-the-art area and a reference to design nanomaterials-based schemes for the detection and control of mycotoxins.

Abstract
Weissella viridescens is a spoilage bacterium commonly found in low-temperature meat products. In this work, after fifteen rounds including three counter selection rounds of whole-cell systemic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment (SELEX) in vitro, a novel aptamer L3 that can specifically recognize W. viridescens was obtained with a dissociation constant (Kd) value of 68.25 ± 5.32 nM. The sequence of aptamer L3 was optimized by truncation and a new aptamer sequence TL43 was obtained with a lower Kd value of 32.11 ± 3.01 nM. Finally, a simple and rapid fluorescence polarization (FP) platform was constructed to detect W. viridescens, in which FAM-labeled complementary sequence (FAM-cDNA) was employed to generate FP signal and streptavidin was used to amplify FP signal. In the presence of target bacteria, FP value decreased owning to the dissociation of FAM-cDNA from streptavidin/biotin-TL43/FAM-cDNA complex. Under optimal conditions, the concentration of W. viridescens and FP value displayed a good linear relationship with the detection range from 102 to 106 cfu/mL. Moreover, the designed detection system had a good recovery rate of 90.6%-107.7% in smoked ham samples compared with classical plate counting method, indicating the great potential of the selected and truncated aptamer in practical biosensing applications.

Abstract
In this work, we developed an aptamer-based optical assay for the analysis of Pb2+, a hazardous heavy metal that may be present in the food chain and harmful to human health. An aptamer targeted against Pb2+ was immobilized onto the microplate as the capture probe. SiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized and used as carriers of the signaling horseradish peroxidase (HRP) to achieve amplification of the optical signal. Complementary DNA (cDNA) of the aptamer was also linked to the above mentioned SiO2 nanoparticle (NPs) as the signal probe. The aptamers were found to be able to capture Pb2+, and the unbound aptamers were subsequently hybridized with cDNA-HRP-SiO2 conjugates. As a result, the addition of TMB-H2O2 promoted the formation of blue products in the catalytic system. The assay adopting SiO2 NPs as an enhancer resulted in higher sensitivity with an LOD of 2.5 nM compared to normal procedures. The feasibility of the aptamer-based colorimetric assay was verified by successful detection of Pb2+ in water samples with recoveries in the range of 97.4-103.52%.

Abstract
It is necessary to detect the biogenic amine (BA) content in food due to their toxicological effects and their role as an index of freshness for protein-rich foods. Aptamer-based techniques have the potential to provide alternative methods for sensitive and efficient monitoring of BAs. Herein, we described the selection and characterization of DNA aptamers for tyramine (TYR) and β-phenethylamine (PHE) using a one-pot coupled with separate selection strategy. During the selection process, melting curve analysis was developed to monitor the enrichment of the aptamer species, and a saturation of the selection was found at the 14th round. Based on the fluorescence assay, aptamers TYR-2 and PHE-2 showed high affinity to TYR and PHE with the dissociation constant values of 64.28 ± 10.4 and 71.64 ± 11.47 nM, respectively. The circular dichromatic and molecular docking technologies were employed for the preliminary binding mechanism analysis. The obtained aptamers TYR-2 and PHE-2 were used in a fluorescence method for the TYR and PHE determination with limits of detection of 0.34 and 0.39 ng/mL, respectively. In addition, the developed aptasensor was further applied to the TYR and PHE detection in pork and beer samples, and the recovery rate was between 95.6 and 104.2%. It was demonstrated that the selected aptamers had enormous potential as a molecular probe for the identification and determination of BAs.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the characteristics of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and clinical etiology of ovarian infertility. Methods: The data of infertile women who underwent 3.0T MRI and magnetic resonance hysterosalpingography (MR-HSG) examination in the Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine from September 2017 to March 2020 were collected. The ovarian factors of infertility, as well as the abnormalities of bilateral fallopian tubes and uterus, were evaluated. Etiologies assessed by MRI were finally confirmed by hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, surgery, or a comprehensive clinical diagnosis. Results: Among 1 351 patients, 1 296 cases were eligible and included for further analysis. Evaluated by MRI and MR-HSG, 494(38.12%) cases had ovarian abnormalities, including 239(48.38%) cases of ovarian endometriosiss, 116(23.48%) cases of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), 37(7.49%) cases of diminished ovarian reserve (DOR), 33(6.68%) cases of ovarian mass, 28(5.67%) cases of ovarian injury, and 41(8.30%) cases who had at least two kinds of ovarian diseases. Unilateral and bilateral ovarian abnormalities accounted for 52.02% (257/494) and 47.98%(237/494), respectively.In total, 453 of 494(91.7%) patients had only one kind of ovarian disease. Among the 494 patients, 103(20.85%) cases had abnormal ovary with normal uterus and fallopian tubes, and the other 391(79.15%) cases had abnormalities not only in ovary, but in fallopian tube and/or uterus. Conclusion: Infertility-related ovarian diseases have certain characteristics of MRI findings. 3.0T MRI is useful for comprehensive analysis of etiology in ovarian infertility. Combined with MR-HSG, it provides one-stop assessments of the pelvic factors in female infertility.

Abstract
Deoxynivalenol (DON), a trichothecene mycotoxin, is one of the most globally prevalent mycotoxins mainly produced by Fusarium species. DON exposure can cause spectrum of symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, gastroenteritis, growth retardation, immunosuppression, and intestinal flora disorders in humans and animals. Therefore, the implication of DON degradation technology is of great significance for food safety. Recently, photocatalytic degradation technology has been applied for DON control. However, the toxicity of the intermediates identified in the degradation process was often ignored. In this work, based on previous successful degradation of DON and evaluation of the in vitro toxicity of DON photocatalytic detoxification products (DPDPs), we further studied the in vivo toxicity of DPDPs and mainly explored their effects on intestinal barrier function and intestinal flora in mice. The results demonstrated that the DPDPs treated with photocatalyst for 120 min effectively increased the expression of intestinal tight junction proteins and improved the disorder of gut flora. Meanwhile, compared with DON-exposed mice, the DPDPs reduced the level of inflammation and oxidative stress of intestinal tissue, and improved growth performance, enterohepatic circulation, energy metabolism, and autonomic activity. All the results indicated that the toxicity of the DPDPs irradiated for 120 min was much lower than that of DON or even nontoxic. Therefore, we hope that this photocatalytic degradation technology can be used as a promising tool for the detoxification of mycotoxins.

Abstract
Deoxynivalenol (DON) is considered a mycotoxin that is toxic to the agricultural environment and human body. It is necessary to study the pathophysiological mechanism of DON toxicity at the cellular level. Cytochrome c (Cyt c), as an important biomarker of DON-induced apoptosis that may lead to a bipartite 'point-of-no return' event, is of great significance to be detected using cell imaging. Herein, we synthesized a DON-deactivated emission fluorescent probe, the molecularly imprinted polymer-coated quantum dots (CdTe@MIP), for monitoring the Cyt c level with a photoinduced electron transfer strategy. The CdTe@MIP probe can be easily loaded into cells and perform well due to its great sensitivity and selectivity and its fluorescence was gradually quenched with the increasing concentration (0-10 μM) and incubation time (0-7.5 h) of DON. Cell imaging results of apoptosis induced by DON was consistent with that of the cell counting kit-8 assay and flow cytometry technique. The developed method can be used to monitor DON-induced apoptosis and provide an early-warning system for the contaminant toxicity.

Abstract
In this study, the original chloramphenicol aptamer containing 80 bases was truncated to 30 bases with high affinity by the SYBR Green I assay. It was found that the ionic strength and type affect the recognition of aptamers, especially magnesium ion played a vital role in the binding process. Furthermore, the binding performance of aptamer, including binding mode, key binding sites and conformational changes were further investigated by circular dichroism spectroscopy, UV-vis absorption spectrum and molecular docking. Based on these research data, we inferred that chloramphenicol bound to the minor groove region in the aptamer double helix. Finally, the optimized aptamer LLR10 was used to develop a novel label free fluorescence polarization assay to detect chloramphenicol within SYBR Green I as the source of fluorescence polarization signal. Under optimal conditions, the designed method showed a linear detection range of 0.1-10 nM with a detection limit of 0.06 nM. Additionally, the aptasensor exhibited a high accuracy to the detection of chloramphenicol in milk samples with a recovery rate from 93.7% to 98.4%. Therefore, the developed label free fluorescence polarization aptasensor provides a new idea for the rapid, reliable and sensitive detection of chloramphenicol, which can be applied to food safety control.

Abstract
The abuse of ribavirin, an antiviral drug, in poultry breeding can cause quality degradation and drug resistance. So it is of great importance to establish a simple and effective method for detecting ribavirin in foods. In this work, aptamers that could especially bind to ribavirin with high affinity were obtained by the Capture-SELEX method. After 15 rounds of enrichment, ssDNA library pool was enriched and then analyzed by high-throughput sequencing. The seven most enriched sequences were selected as candidate aptamers for affinity and specificity characterization. Among the candidate aptamers, APT-1 was proved to be the optimal aptamer. The dissociation constant (Kd) values of APT-1 obtained by the two methods of colorimetric and fluorescence were 34.34 ± 6.038 nmol L-1, 61.19 ± 21.48 nmol L-1, respectively. To study the binding mechanism of the selected aptamer, molecular docking was conducted and results indicated that hydrogen bonds were formed at binding sites located at G37, T38, A40, T53 and A54. Furthermore, to confirm the practicability of the selected aptamer, a fluorescence assay was designed, showing the liner range within 1.0-50 ng mL-1 and the low detection limit of 0.67 ng mL-1. Besides, the aptamer was applied for the detection of ribavirin in chicken samples and the recoveries ranged from 87.26% to 105.57%, which showed great application potential in food safety.

Abstract
A nano-composite film was prepared from k-carrageenan (KC), konjac glucomannan (KGM) and TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) by solvent casting method. The morphology and structure of the KC/KGM based nano-composite films prepared from different weight ratio of TiO2 NPs were characterized by SEM, XRD and FT-IR techniques. The addition of TiO2 NPs to KC/KGM films improved the mechanical, thermal, structural, and barrier properties of nano-composite films. In particular, the film containing 7 wt% of TiO2 NPs exhibited effective photocatalytic anti-fungal activity (79%) for Penicillium viridicatum after irradiating 6 h through generating reactive oxygen species thus destroying the fungi. Benefitting from the improved characteristics investigated above, the nano-composite films showed a favorable effect on strawberry storage. Overall, the fabricated KC/KGM/TiO2 nano-composite films have a broad application in the field of food preservation and packaging applications.

Abstract
AIM To assess the feasibility of preoperative computed tomography (CT) prediction of torsion angle for stratifying the risk of necrosis in patients with adnexal torsion. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this multicentre, retrospective study, 72 patients underwent preoperative CT and surgically verified adnexal torsion. Surgeons identified the torsion angle and adnexal necrosis requiring adnexectomy. The twisted angles were compared between conservative surgery group and salpingo-oophorectomy group. Variables included demographic, pathological and CT details. Logistic analysis was used to identify the indicators of twisted angle associated with high-risk necrosis. RESULTS The necrosis associated with adnexal torsion treated with adnexectomy was performed more often in patients with a torsion angle of ≥720° (odds ratio [OR]=7, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.314-37.295, p=0.023). The enlarged twisted pedicle (OR=14.592, 95% CI: 2.048-103.953, p=0.007) and pedicle haemorrhage (OR=5.612, 95% CI: 1.088-28.941, p=0.039) can predict a torsion angle of ≥720°, and area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC=0.758±0.058) was generated with the combined variables. CONCLUSION The risk of adnexal necrosis is high in patients with torsion angle of ≥720°. CT findings of enlarged twisted pedicle and pedicle haemorrhage can be used to predict torsion angle of ≥720° and can imply adnexal necrosis indirectly.

Abstract
MicroRNAs plays important role in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion (CIR). However, the role of miR-26b-5p in CIR injury remains unclear. PC12 cells were treated with oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD) for 0 h, 2 h, 4 h, 6 h, and then reoxygenated for 24 h to construct an in vitro I/R model. Then, miR-26b-5p mimic, small interfering RNA of KLF10 and KLF10 overexpression plasmid were transfected into cells respectively for mechanism study. Our results showed that miR-26b-5p was downregulated in OGD/R-induced PC12 cells. After overexpression of miR-26b-5p, cell proliferation ability was enhanced, apoptosis, ROS and inflammatory mediators were inhibited. Bioinformatics analysis indicated that miR-26b-5p was directly bound to the 3' UTR of KLF10, and downregulated the expression of KLF10. KLF10 was upregulated in OGD/R cells, and transfection with si-KLF10 promoted cell proliferation and reduced apoptosis, NO concentration and inflammatory factor secretion. Moreover, pcDNA-KLF10 reversed the inhibitory effects of miR-26b-5p mimic on apoptosis, NO content and inflammatory factor secretion, as well as the downregulation of N-myc and PTEN expression. Meanwhile, I/R rat models were constructed and divided into sham operation group (femoral artery isolation only), model group (middle cerebral artery occlusion model of rats was prepared by thread embolization), treatment group (200 µL of miR-26b-5p mimic was injected into the brain of model rats). We observed that the infarct size of brain tissue was reduced, KLF10 expression was downregulated, and apoptosis and inflammatory response were reduced. These results suggest that miR-26b-5p had protective effects on CIRI and it may be a potential treatment target.

Abstract
Herein, a new double-enzymes-modulated fluorescent assay based on the quenching of upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) by Fe3+ was constructed for sensitive determination of OPs. OPs can inhibit the activity of acetylcholinesterase to reduce the production of choline and further lead to the lack of H2O2 in the presence of choline oxidase. Therefore, Fe2+ cannot be converted into Fe3+, resulting in "turn-on" fluorescence of UCNPs. Under optimal conditions, an excellent linear correlation between the inhibition efficiency and the logarithm of the chlorpyrifos concentration was achieved with a detection limit (LOD) of 6.7 ng/mL in the range of 20-2000 ng/mL. The recovery for chlorpyrifos in apples and cucumbers was 89.5-97.1%. The results were consistent with those obtained by GC-MS. Overall, the integration of UCNPs into the double-enzymes-mediated Fe3+/Fe2+ conversion endows this method with desirable rapidity, sensitivity, selectivity, stability, operational simplicity, and strong anti-interference capability, holding great potential in the application of food safety.

Abstract
In this work, a colorimetric aptamer-based method for detection of cadmium using gold nanoparticles modified MoS2 nanocomposites as enzyme mimic is established. In short, biotinylated Cd2+ aptamers are immobilized by biotin-avidin binding on the bottoms of the microplate, the complementary strands of Cd2+ aptamers are connected to the Au-MoS2 nanocomposites which have the function of enhanced peroxidase-like activity. The csDNA-Au-MoS2 signal probe and target Cd2+ compete for binding Cd2+ aptamer, the color change can be observed by addition of chromogenic substrate, thereby realizing visual detection of Cd2+. The absorbance of the solution at 450 nm has a clear linear relationship with the Cd2+ concentration. The linear range is 1-500 ng/mL, and the limit of detection is 0.7 ng/mL. The assay was used to test white wine samples, the results are consistent with those of atomic absorption spectrometry; which prove that this method can be used for detection of Cd2+ in real samples.

Abstract
Deoxynivalenol (DON) is one of the most common contaminants of cereal grains. Efficient and environmental-friendly technology to eliminate DON is important for food safety and environmental protection. In this work, upconversion nanoparticles (UCNP) coated with titanium dioxide (TiO2) photocatalysts were synthesized. Then, a photocatalytic experiment was performed to test the impact of NaYF4:Yb,Tm@TiO2 of DON degradation. Our results showed the DON degradation rate at 10 μg/mL under simulated sunlight using NaYF4:Yb,Tm@TiO2 (6 mg/mL) approached 100% within 60 min at pH 8.0. UPLC-Q-TOF MS was used to monitor the degradation process and three degradation products were identified, namely C15H20O8, C15H20O7 and C15H20O5. Subsequently, we studied the photocatalytic degradation of DON in wheat, providing a theoretical basis for photocatalytic degradation of contaminated grain samples. This study demonstrated that UCNP@TiO2 photocatalysis has the potential for detoxification in food security applications.

Abstract
An aptamer-based sensitive method was developed here for detection of multiple foodborne pathogens in food matrix by surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) technology. Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) film was first prepared and then coated with gold nanoparticles (AuNP) to act as an active substrate for the enhancement of Raman scattering. The as-prepared Au-PDMS film was functionalized with specific pathogen aptamers (Apt) to capture the targets. In addition, aptamers functionalized AuNP integrated with Raman reporters (4-Mercaptobenzoic acid (4-MBA)/Nile blue A (NBA)) were fabricated as pathogen-specific SERS probes. In this scheme, pathogens were first captured by Apt-Au-PDMS film and then bind with SERS probes to allow the formation of a sandwich assay to complete the sensor module for the detection of multiple pathogens. With Vibrio parahaemolyticus and Salmonella typhimurium as model targets, this protocol can selectively detect 18 cfu/mL and 27 cfu/mL, respectively. Furthermore, this platform can be successfully applied to detect pathogens in seafood samples with recoveries ranging from 82.9% to 95.1%.

Abstract
Herein, we constructed an aptamer-based sensor for the sensitive and highly specific detection of Shigella sonnei via surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) analysis. A composite material integrated of the Raman active 4-MBA ligand of the Eu-complex and citrate-stabilized Au nanoparticles (cit-Au NPs) was synthesized and served as both active substrate and Raman reporter. Aptamers targeted to S. Sonnei was then modified onto the surface of this dual-functional material. With the introduction of S. Sonnei, aptamer bound with target with high affinity and specificity, leaving the dual-functional material onto the bacteria. The SERS intensity response showed a strong positive linear correlation (R = 0.9956) with increasing concentrations of S. sonnei (ranging from 10 to 106 cfu/mL). High specificity was achieved at Shigella species (S. dysenteriae, S. flexneri, S. boydii) and other common bacteria (Salmonella typhimurium, Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli). When applied in real samples, the approach showed recoveries from 92.6 to 103.8 %. The designed approach holds great potential for the construction of various aptasensors for the effective and convenient detection of different food hazards.

Abstract
Techniques that are sensitive to detect mercury ion (Hg2+) are very important, due to its serious threat to public health and food security. In this work, a colorimetric aptasensor was fabricated for the detection of Hg2+ based on rolling circle amplification (RCA). The aptamer was immobilized onto the microplate and hybridized with its complementary strand (cDNA1) which linked with a primer for triggering the RCA reaction of circular template. The successfully RCA process led to the formation of long ssDNA chains on the microplate, which created many hybridized DNA fragments for bio-cDNA2. The tagged amount of horseradish peroxidase (HRP) was enhanced through the avidin/biotin binding between avi-HRP and bio-cDNA2. In the addition of TMB-H2O2, HRP was catalyzed and generated an optical signal. However, in the presence of target, Hg2+ specifically and preferentially bound with aptamer and formed a strong and stable T-Hg2+-T complex, which led to the release of cDNA1 and HRP cluster. Consequently, the optical signal decreased. Our results showed that the limit of detection (LOD) of this system was 1.6 nM with excellent specificity, and that the detection signals were enhanced by up to 18 times under RCA conditions when compared with detections without RCA. This method has been successfully used to detect Hg2+ in water samples with a recovery of 98%-105.74%.

Abstract
Deoxynivalenol (DON) is one of the most globally prevalent mycotoxins mainly produced by Fusarium species. It can cause pollution to water environmental quality due to its water solubility. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a green and efficient detoxification technology for DON. More importantly, the toxicity of the degradation products should be assessed. Photocatalytic degradation technology has attracted increasing attention in the field of pollutants treatment, especially for wastewater treatment. Herein, the as-prepared NaYF4:Yb,Tm@TiO2 composite (UCNP@TiO2) was employed as a novel photocatalyst for the NIR-enhanced photocatalytic degradation of DON. Three intermediate products were identified by using the ESI/MS analysis and secondary mass spectrogram, with the m/z values of 329.399, 311.243 and 280.913, respectively. Furthermore, the in vitro safety of the product mixtures with various degradation time (30 min, 60 min, 90 min and 120 min) were evaluated through the influences on cell viability, cell morphology, cell cycle, intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) level, cell apoptosis and antioxidant capacity of HepG2 cells. There were no significant differences in these investigated indicators between the control (free of DON) and 120 min products treatment. Overall, the results indicated that the toxicity of degradation products after 120 min irradiation was much lower and even nontoxic than that of DON.

Abstract
Deoxynivalenol (DON) is regarded as the most common contaminant of cereal grains. Therefore, finding an efficient and safe detoxification technology is of great significance in the field of food. In this study, upconversion nanoparticles@TiO2 composites were used for the photocatalytic degradation of DON in wheat. The effect of photocatalytic oxidation on wheat quality was also evaluated by studying the basic physical and chemical indexes of wheat. The results showed that the removal rate of DON in wheat could reach 72.8% within 90 min when the dosage of photocatalyst UCNP@TiO2 was 8 mg mL-1 and the ratio of wheat to liquid was 1 : 2. In addition, the composites can be easily removed by washing, thus ensuring the low exposure dose of the nanomaterials in wheat. Studies on the nutritional quality of wheat showed that photocatalytic technology had little effect on the starch, protein, amino acid content of wheat (p > 0.05). The whiteness of wheat flour decreased and the yellowness increased. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images of wheat starch showed that the surfaces of starch granules were damaged to varying degrees with the prolongation of illumination time. Meanwhile, the fatty acid value and wet gluten content and pasting properties of wheat decreased significantly during photocatalysis (p < 0.05). This study demonstrates that photocatalytic degradation will have a promising prospect in toxin removal.

Abstract
Spermine contamination ranks as one of the food safety issues, it will cause some adverse reactions if the intake of spermine is excessive in human body. So it is of great significance to establish fast and efficient analysis method to detect spermine in foods. In this study, the spermine aptamers with high affinity and specificity were obtained by the capture systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment (Capture-SELEX) technique. Forty-one aptamer sequences were obtained by cloning and sequencing, and were divided into eight families based on homology and secondary structure analysis. The affinity and specificity of candidate aptamers was analyzed by isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) and fluorescence assay. The aptamers named APJ-6 was picked out as the optimal aptamer that recognizes spermine specifically with the Kd value of 9.648 ± 0.896 nM. In order to verify the practicability of the selected aptamers, the sensitive aptamer-based fluorescene assay was designed. Under optimized conditions, this aptasensor exhibited a low detection limit of 0.052 nM, as well as a linear within the range of 0.1-20 nM. Besides, it has been further applied for the determination of spermine in pork samples and the recoveries ranged from 86.45% to 98.15%, showing its great potential for sensitive analysis in food safety control.
