Abstract
INTRODUCTION The advent of image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) has recently changed the workflow of radiation treatments by ensuring highly collimated treatments. Artificial intelligence (AI) and radiomics are tools that have shown promising results for diagnosis, treatment optimization and outcome prediction. This review aims to assess the impact of AI and radiomics on modern IGRT modalities in RT. METHODS A PubMed/MEDLINE and Embase systematic review was conducted to investigate the impact of radiomics and AI to modern IGRT modalities. The search strategy was "Radiomics" AND "Cone Beam Computed Tomography"; "Radiomics" AND "Magnetic Resonance guided Radiotherapy"; "Radiomics" AND "on board Magnetic Resonance Radiotherapy"; "Artificial Intelligence" AND "Cone Beam Computed Tomography"; "Artificial Intelligence" AND "Magnetic Resonance guided Radiotherapy"; "Artificial Intelligence" AND "on board Magnetic Resonance Radiotherapy" and only original articles up to 01.11.2022 were considered. RESULTS A total of 402 studies were obtained using the previously mentioned search strategy on PubMed and Embase. The analysis was performed on a total of 84 papers obtained following the complete selection process. Radiomics application to IGRT was analyzed in 23 papers, while a total 61 papers were focused on the impact of AI on IGRT techniques. DISCUSSION AI and radiomics seem to significantly impact IGRT in all the phases of RT workflow, even if the evidence in the literature is based on retrospective data. Further studies are needed to confirm these tools' potential and provide a stronger correlation with clinical outcomes and gold-standard treatment strategies.

Abstract
This work aimed to report values on oral hygiene habits at home during the pandemic and compare the differences between previous oral hygiene habits. A total of 1,136 questionnaires were filled in via a link sent through email to the patients. The answers show that although they had more time during the pandemic, they spent less time on dental and tongue hygiene. Dental and tongue hygiene are key to maintaining systemic health. The questionnaire was sent by e-mail to 1,136 male and female patients throughout Italy. Demonstrate and understand whether patients during the pandemic cleaned and spent time cleaning and maintaining their teeth and tongue hygiene. The questionnaire testifies to the fact that it is not the time but the patient's compliance and motivation that makes the difference. OBJECTIVE This work aimed to report values regarding oral hygiene habits at home during the pandemic and compare the difference with previous oral hygiene habits. METHODS This study was performed anonymously and had patients answer an online questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of 11 closed-answer questions (except 1) concerning oral hygiene habits at home at the time of COVID-19 and participant characteristics, including gender and age. A total of 1,136 questionnaires were filled in via a link sent by email to the patients. RESULTS Among the 1,136 patients examined, 32.4% (372) were male and 67.6% (775) were female, and almost half (47.9%) of the patients who answered the questionnaire were aged 18-40 years. Patients who participated in our survey were asked questions related to dental and tongue hygiene. The answers showed that although they had more time during the pandemic, they brushed their teeth less and did not brush their tongues regularly. CONCLUSION Patients with periodontal problems usually have less time for brushing and do not have good plaque control. The questionnaire showed the opposite, such that the patient's compliance and motivation matters more than time. Thus, dentists and dental hygienists must encourage and make patients understand the importance of oral hygiene at home.

Abstract
Uterine cervical and endometrial cancers are two major gynecological malignancies, affecting women's health worldwide. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is appropriate for evaluating malignant disease, thanks to the excellent soft tissue contrast and multiplanar imaging ability. Recently, functional MR techniques, namely diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and dynamic contrast-enhanced imaging (DCE), have proved to be a precious support not only in cancer diagnosis but also in disease staging, in the therapy planning, in monitoring response to treatment and during long-term recurrence surveillance. In the field of gynecologic oncology, the European Society of Urogenital Radiology (ESUR) recommends DWI and dynamic contrast-enhanced imaging (DCE-MRI) for local staging of endometrial and cervical cancer, but the potential application of functional imaging in all different aspects of patient management seems very promising. The aim of this article is to summarize the existing literature, providing a comprehensive update on the role of functional MRI in endometrial and cervical cancer.

Abstract
Metastasis to bone is a common occurrence among epithelial tumors, with a high incidence rate in the Western world. As a result, bone lesions are a significant burden on the healthcare system, with a high morbidity index. These injuries are often symptomatic and can lead to functional limitations, which in turn cause reduced mobility in patients. Additionally, they can lead to secondary complications such as pathological fractures, spinal cord compression, hypercalcemia, or bone marrow suppression. The treatment of bone metastases requires collaboration between multiple healthcare professionals, including oncologists, orthopedists, neurosurgeons, physiatrists, and radiotherapists. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the correlation between two methods used to assess local control. Specifically, the study aims to determine if a reduction in the volume of bone lesions corresponds to better symptomatic control in the clinical management of patients, and vice versa. To achieve this objective, the study evaluates morphological criteria by comparing pre- and post-radiotherapy treatment imaging using MRI and RECIST 1.1 criteria. MRI without contrast is the preferred diagnostic imaging method, due to its excellent tolerance by patients, the absence of exposure to ionizing radiation, and the avoidance of paramagnetic contrast media side effects. This imaging modality allows for accurate assessment of bone lesions. One of the secondary objectives of this study is to identify potentially useful parameters that can distinguish patients into two classes: "good" and "poor" responders to treatment, as reported by previous studies in the literature. These parameters can be evaluated from the imaging examinations by analyzing morphological changes and radiomic features on different sequences, such as T1, STIR (short tau inversion recovery), and DWI-MRI (diffusion-weighted).

Abstract
PURPOSE The quantification of radiotherapy (RT)-induced functional and morphological brain alterations is fundamental to guide therapeutic decisions in patients with brain tumors. The magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) allows to define structural RT-brain changes, but it is unable to evaluate early injuries and to objectively quantify the volume tissue loss. Artificial intelligence (AI) tools extract accurate measurements that permit an objective brain different region quantification. In this study, we assessed the consistency between an AI software (Quibim Precision® 2.9) and qualitative neruroradiologist evaluation, and its ability to quantify the brain tissue changes during RT treatment in patients with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). METHODS GBM patients treated with RT and subjected to MRI assessment were enrolled. Each patient, pre- and post-RT, undergoes to a qualitative evaluation with global cerebral atrophy (GCA) and medial temporal lobe atrophy (MTA) and a quantitative assessment with Quibim Brain screening and hippocampal atrophy and asymmetry modules on 19 extracted brain structures features. RESULTS A statistically significant strong negative association between the percentage value of the left temporal lobe and the GCA score and the left temporal lobe and the MTA score was found, while a moderate negative association between the percentage value of the right hippocampus and the GCA score and the right hippocampus and the MTA score was assessed. A statistically significant strong positive association between the CSF percentage value and the GCA score and a moderate positive association between the CSF percentage value and the MTA score was found. Finally, quantitative feature values showed that the percentage value of the cerebro-spinal fluid (CSF) statistically differences between pre- and post-RT. CONCLUSIONS AI tools can support a correct evaluation of RT-induced brain injuries, allowing an objective and earlier assessment of the brain tissue modifications.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE to evaluate the efficacy of US, both qualitatively and semi-quantitatively, in the selection of treatment for the Covid-19 patient, using patient triage as the gold standard. METHODS Patients admitted to the Covid-19 clinic to be treated with monoclonal antibodies (mAb) or retroviral treatment and undergoing lung ultrasound (US) were selected from the radiological data set between December 2021 and May 2022 according to the following inclusion criteria: patients with proven Omicron variant and Delta Covid-19 infection; patients with known Covid-19 vaccination with at least two doses. Lung US (LUS) was performed by experienced radiologists. The presence, location, and distribution of abnormalities, such as B-lines, thickening or ruptures of the pleural line, consolidations, and air bronchograms, were evaluated. The anomalous findings in each scan were classified according to the LUS scoring system. Nonparametric statistical tests were performed. RESULTS The LUS score median value in the patients with Omicron variant was 1.5 (1-20) while the LUS score median value in the patients with Delta variant was 7 (3-24). A difference statistically significant was observed for LUS score values among the patients with Delta variant between the two US examinations (p value = 0.045 at Kruskal Wallis test). There was a difference in median LUS score values between hospitalized and non-hospitalized patients for both the Omicron and Delta groups (p value = 0.02 on the Kruskal Wallis test). For Delta patients groups the sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values, considering a value of 14 for LUS score for the hospitalization, were of 85.29%, 44.44%, 85.29% and 76.74% respectively. CONCLUSIONS LUS is an interesting diagnostic tool in the context of Covid-19, it could allow to identify the typical pattern of diffuse interstitial pulmonary syndrome and could guide the correct management of patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is a common, steady growing lung tumour that is often discovered when a surgical approach is forbidden. For locally advanced inoperable NSCLC, the clinical approach consists of a combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, eventually followed by adjuvant immunotherapy, a treatment that is useful but may cause several mild and severe adverse effect. Chest radiotherapy, specifically, may affect the heart and coronary artery, impairing heart function and causing pathologic changes in myocardial tissues. The aim of this study is to evaluate the damage coming from these therapies with the aid of cardiac imaging. METHODS This is a single-centre, prospective clinical trial. Patients with NSCLC who are enrolled will undergo computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) before chemotherapy 3 months, 6 months, and 9-12 months after the treatment. We expect to enrol 30 patients in 2 years. CONCLUSIONS Our clinical trial will be an opportunity not only to highlight the timing and the radiation dose needed for pathological cardiac tissue changes to happen but will also provide useful data to set new follow-up schedules and strategies, keeping in mind that, more often than not, patients affected by NSCLC may present other heart- and lung-related pathological conditions.

Abstract
Background The most prevalent noncommunicable disease in the world is dental caries; and when it is not adequately treated, it is usually associated with tooth loss or severe dental lesions. In fact, expensive care or tooth extraction may be necessary due to the negative effects dental caries have on general health. This is due to its frequent pain and secondary bacterial infections. The aim of this study was to investigate the activity of ozonated water as such and in combination with appropriate light radiation so as to perform a photodynamic treatment (PDT) against the cariogenic bacterium Streptococcus mutans. Design and methods This work has been performed in vitro by using an S. mutans strain mainly structured in a biofilm status, reproducing the natural condition of the tooth infection. The ozone was tested at three different concentrations by using a commercial device able to generate different O3 formulations in water. The PDT treatment requires an appropriate light wavelength, evaluated in this work through the UV-Vis adsorption spectrum of the ozonated water. Results The obtained results suggested an effective and synergic property of O3 and light at 460-470 nm against this microorganism. The most antibiofilm activity was observed using a concentration of ozone of 0.06 mg/L alone as well as with PDT treatment. Conclusions The results are encouraging for additional research and in vitro/in vivo fresh experimental investigations to perform an exhaustive antimicrobial treatment protocol against the S. mutans tooth infection.

Abstract
In modern clinical practice, there is an increasing dependence on imaging techniques in several settings, and especially during emergencies. Consequently, there has been an increase in the frequency of imaging examinations and thus also an increased risk of radiation exposure. In this context, a critical phase is a woman's pregnancy management that requires a proper diagnostic assessment to reduce radiation risk to the fetus and mother. The risk is greatest during the first phases of pregnancy at the time of organogenesis. Therefore, the principles of radiation protection should guide the multidisciplinary team. Although diagnostic tools that do not employ ionizing radiation, such as ultrasound (US) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) should be preferred, in several settings as polytrauma, computed tomography (CT) nonetheless remains the examination to perform, beyond the fetus risk. In addition, protocol optimization, using dose-limiting protocols and avoiding multiple acquisitions, is a critical point that makes it possible to reduce risks. The purpose of this review is to provide a critical evaluation of emergency conditions, e.g., abdominal pain and trauma, considering the different diagnostic tools that should be used as study protocols in order to control the dose to the pregnant woman and fetus.

Abstract
Since its beginning in March 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has claimed an exceptionally high number of victims and brought significant disruption to the personal and professional lives of millions of people worldwide. Among medical specialists, radiologists have found themselves at the forefront of the crisis due to the pivotal role of imaging in the diagnostic and interventional management of COVID-19 pneumonia and its complications. Because of the disruptive changes related to the COVID-19 outbreak, a proportion of radiologists have faced burnout to several degrees, resulting in detrimental effects on their working activities and overall wellbeing. This paper aims to provide an overview of the literature exploring the issue of radiologists' burnout in the COVID-19 era.

Abstract
The treatment of primary and secondary lung neoplasms now sees the fundamental role of radiotherapy, associated with surgery and systemic therapies. The improvement in survival outcomes has also increased attention to the quality of life, treatment compliance and the management of side effects. The role of imaging is not only limited to recognizing the efficacy of treatment but also to identifying, as soon as possible, the uncommon effects, especially when more treatments, such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy and radiotherapy, are associated. Radiation recall pneumonitis is an uncommon treatment complication that should be correctly characterized, and it is essential to recognize the mechanisms of radiation recall pneumonitis pathogenesis and diagnostic features in order to promptly identify them and adopt the best therapeutic strategy, with the shortest possible withdrawal of the current oncological drug. In this setting, artificial intelligence could have a critical role, although a larger patient data set is required.

Abstract
(1) Background: To assess the clinical safety and efficacy of a new piezoelectric instrument for orthodontic clean-up; (2) Methods: An in-vitro comparative study on 75 teeth extracted for orthodontic reasons compared the tested method (Treatment 1) with two other procedures: One step finisher and polisher (Inverted cone One gloss Shofu Dental, Kyoto, Japan) (Treatment 2) and twelve-fluted tungsten carbide bur (123-603-00, Dentaurum, Pforzheim, Germany) and Sof-Lex discs Pop-On XT Kit (3M ESPE) (Treatment 3), with n:25 samples in each group. Clinical safety (enamel volume loss) and effectiveness (residual adhesive volume) were assessed using the structured light 3D scanner Atos Compact Scan (GOM GmbH) together with the support of Atos Professional software. The surfaces were scanned three times to assess: (i) the volume of the residual adhesive (RAV) after bracket removal; (ii) the volume of the relative residual adhesive (dAV) after the clean-up procedure; (iii) volume of the enamel loss (EVL); (3) Results: The mean RAV (mm3) was 0.239 ± 0.337; 0.069 ± 0.124, 0.120 ± 0.193 and the mean EVL (mm3) was 0.1870 ± 0.177, 0.187 ± 0.299 and 0.290 ± 0.205, for treatment 1, 2 and 3, respectively. The distribution was asymmetrical between groups in both cases; (4) Conclusions: The tested instrument proved to be effective and safe for post-orthodontic clean-up. With the increasing use of invisible aligners, the possibility of using an ergonomic and fast instrument is of benefit to both patient and practitioner.

Abstract
Treatment-induced cardiac toxicity represents an important issue in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients, and no biomarkers are currently available in clinical practice. A novel and easy-to-calculate marker is the quantitative analysis of calcium plaque in the coronary, calculated on CT. It is called the Agatston score (or CAD score). At the same time, other potential predictors include cardiac ultrasonography and anamnesis of the patients. Our work aimed to correlate cardiac biomarkers with overall survival (OS) in NSCLC patients. We retrospectively analyzed patients with NSCLC discussed in the Multidisciplinary Tumor Board of our Institute for the present analysis between January 2018 and July 2022. Inclusion criteria were the availability of basal CT imaging of the thorax, cardiac ultrasonography with the calculation of ejection fraction (EF), and complete anamnesis, including assessment of co-pathologies and pharmacological drugs. The clinical data of the patients were retrospectively collected, and the CAD scores was calculated on a CT scan. All of these parameters were correlated with overall survival (OS) with univariate analysis (Kaplan-Meier analysis) and multivariate analysis (Cox regression analysis). Following the above-mentioned inclusion criteria, 173 patients were included in the present analysis. Of those, 120 patients died in the follow-up period (69.6%), and the median overall survival (OS) was 28 months (mean 47.2 months, 95% CI, 36-57 months). In univariate analysis, several parameters that significantly correlated with lower OS were the stage (p < 0.001), the CAD grading (p < 0.001), history of ischemic heart disease (p: 0.034), use of beta blocker drugs (p: 0.036), and cardiac ejection fraction (p: 0.005). In multivariate analysis, the only parameters that remained significant were as follows: CAD score (p: 0.014, OR 1.56, 95% CI: 1.04-1.83), stage (p: 0.016, OR: 1.26, 95% CI: 1.05-1.53), and cardiac ejection fraction (p: 0.011, OR 0.46, 95% CI: 0.25-0.84). Both CAD score and ejection fraction are correlated with survival in NSCLC patients at all stages of the disease. Independently from the treatment choice, a cardiological evaluation is mandatory for patients with NSCLC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND breast cancer (BC) is the world's most prevalent cancer in the female population, with 2.3 million new cases diagnosed worldwide in 2020. The great efforts made to set screening campaigns, early detection programs, and increasingly targeted treatments led to significant improvement in patients' survival. The Full-Field Digital Mammograph (FFDM) is considered the gold standard method for the early diagnosis of BC. From several previous studies, it has emerged that breast density (BD) is a risk factor in the development of BC, affecting the periodicity of screening plans present today at an international level. OBJECTIVE in this study, the focus is the development of mammographic image processing techniques that allow the extraction of indicators derived from textural patterns of the mammary parenchyma indicative of BD risk factors. METHODS a total of 168 patients were enrolled in the internal training and test set while a total of 51 patients were enrolled to compose the external validation cohort. Different Machine Learning (ML) techniques have been employed to classify breasts based on the values of the tissue density. Textural features were extracted only from breast parenchyma with which to train classifiers, thanks to the aid of ML algorithms. RESULTS the accuracy of different tested classifiers varied between 74.15% and 93.55%. The best results were reached by a Support Vector Machine (accuracy of 93.55% and a percentage of true positives and negatives equal to TPP = 94.44% and TNP = 92.31%). The best accuracy was not influenced by the choice of the features selection approach. Considering the external validation cohort, the SVM, as the best classifier with the 7 features selected by a wrapper method, showed an accuracy of 0.95, a sensitivity of 0.96, and a specificity of 0.90. CONCLUSIONS our preliminary results showed that the Radiomics analysis and ML approach allow us to objectively identify BD.

Abstract
AIM Head and neck squamous cell cancer (HNSCC) is the ninth most common tumor worldwide. Neck lymph node (LN) status is the major indicator of prognosis in all head and neck cancers, and the early detection of LN involvement is crucial in terms of therapy and prognosis. Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) is a non- invasive imaging technique used in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to characterize tissues based on the displacement motion of water molecules. This review aims to provide an overview of the current literature concerning quantitative diffusion imaging for LN staging in patients with HNSCC. METHODS This systematic review performed a literature search on the PubMed database (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/) for all relevant, peer-reviewed literature on the subject following the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) criteria, using the keywords: DWI, MRI, head and neck, staging, lymph node. RESULTS After excluding reviews, meta-analyses, case reports, and bibliometric studies, 18 relevant papers out of the 567 retrieved were selected for analysis. CONCLUSIONS DWI improves the diagnosis, treatment planning, treatment response evaluation, and overall management of patients affected by HNSCC. More robust data to clarify the role of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and DWI parameters are needed to develop models for prognosis and prediction in HNSCC cancer using MRI.

Abstract
PURPOSE The remodeling process following tooth extraction can be observed as horizontal and vertical bone reduction of the alveolar ridge. Preservation procedures such as alveolar ridge preservation (ARP) aim to maintain the 3D volume of the extraction site. This retrospective study analyzed differences in the hard and soft tissue changes in patients treated with either spontaneous healing or ARP. METHODS After tooth extraction, the patients were treated either by spontaneous socket healing (SH group) or with ARP using a xenograft and a resorbable membrane (ARP group). One week before and 6 months after extraction, the patients underwent cone beam computed tomography. A volumetric analysis was performed by superimposing the digital models of the two time points. Intraoral radiography was performed after implant placement, upon prosthesis delivery, and at 1-year post-treatment. An esthetic assessment was conducted using the Pink Esthetic Score (PES). The patients' overall satisfaction with the implant restoration was investigated at 12 months. RESULTS Intragroup comparisons revealed significant differences between baseline and the 6-month follow-up in both groups at the measured locations (1 mm, 3 mm, and 5 mm below the most coronal aspect of the alveolar ridge) showing a reduction of the horizontal width (P < 0.05). Additionally, after treatment, the horizontal width at 1 mm was significantly different in the SH and ARP groups (P < 0.001), with mean changes of 2.03 ± 0.54 mm and 0.86 ± 0.49 mm, respectively. ARP was associated with an increased PES (11.6 ± 2.2) and a reduction in patients requiring additional grafting procedures in subsequent treatment phases (9% vs 26%; P = 0.11). CONCLUSIONS In both groups, significant horizontal and vertical bone loss was observed after the extraction. ARP can reduce linear and volumetric shrinkage of the alveolar ridge, leading to improved outcomes. It can also simplify implant restoration.

Abstract
Purpose: To assess the qualitative relationship between liquid biopsy and conventional tissue biopsy. As a secondary target, we evaluated the relationship between the liquid biopsy results and the T stage, N stage, M stage, and compared to grading. Methods: The Local Ethics Committee of the “Università degli Studi della Campania Luigi Vanvitelli”, with the internal resolution number 24997/2020 of 12.11.2020, approved this spontaneous prospective study. According to the approved protocol, patients with lung cancer who underwent Fine-Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC), CT-guided biopsy, and liquid biopsy were enrolled. A Yates chi-square test was employed to analyze differences in percentage values of categorical variables. A p-value < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Data analysis was performed using the Matlab Statistic Toolbox (The MathWorks, Inc., Natick, MA, USA). Results: When a genetic mutation is present on the pathological examination, this was also detected on the liquid biopsy. ROS1 and PDL1 mutations were found in 2/29 patients, while EGFR Exon 21 was identified in a single patient. At liquid biopsy, 26 mutations were identified in the analyzed samples. The mutations with the highest prevalence rate in the study populations were: ALK (Ile1461Val), found in 28/29 patients (96.6%), EML4 (Lys398Arg), identified in 16/29 (55.2%) patients, ALK (Asp1529Glu), found in 14/29 (48.3%) patients, EGFR (Arg521Lys), found in 12/29 (41.4%) patients, ROS (Lys2228Gln), identified in 11/29 (37.9%) patients, ROS (Arg167Gln) and ROS (Ser2229Cys), identified in 10/29 (34.5%) patients, ALK (Lys1491Arg) and PIK3CA (Ile391Met), identified in 8/29 (27.6%) patients, ROS (Thr145Pro), identified in 6/29 (20.7%) patients, and ROS (Ser1109Leu), identified in 4/29 (13.8%) patients. No statistically significant differences can be observed in the mutation rate between the adenocarcinoma population and the squamous carcinoma population (p > 0.05, Yates chi-square test). Conclusions: We showed that, when a genetic mutation was detected in pathological examination, this was always detected by liquid biopsy, demonstrating a very high concordance rate of genomic testing between tissues and their corresponding mutations obtained by liquid biopsy, without cases of false-negative results. In addition, in our study, liquid biopsy highlighted 26 mutations, with the prevalence of ALK mutation in 96.6% of patients, supporting the idea that this approach could be an effective tool in cases with insufficient tumor tissue specimens or in cases where tissue specimens are not obtainable.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Targeted dose-escalation and reduction of dose to adjacent organs at risk have been the main goal of radiotherapy in the last decade. Prostate cancer benefited the most from this process. In recent years, the development of Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT) radically changed clinical practice, also thanks to the availability of modern imaging techniques. The aim of this paper is to explore the relationship between diagnostic imaging and prostate cancer radiotherapy techniques. MATERIALS AND METHODS Aiming to provide an overview of the integration between modern imaging and radiotherapy techniques, we performed a non-systematic search of papers exploring the predictive value of imaging before treatment, the role of radiomics in predicting treatment outcomes, implementation of novel imaging in RT planning and influence of imaging integration on use of RT in current clinical practice. Three independent authors (GF, IM and ID) performed an independent review focusing on these issues. Key references were derived from a PubMed query. Hand searching and clinicaltrials.gov were also used, and grey literature was searched for further papers of interest. The final choice of papers included was discussed between all co-authors. RESULTS This paper contains a narrative report and a critical discussion of the role of new modern techniques in predicting outcomes before treatment, in radiotherapy planning and in the integration with systemic therapy in the management of prostate cancer. Also, the role of radiomics in a tailored treatment approach is explored. CONCLUSIONS Integration between diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy is of great importance for the modern treatment of prostate cancer. Future clinical trials should be aimed at exploring the real clinical benefit of complex workflows in clinical practice.

Abstract
Musculoskeletal ultrasound involves the study of many superficial targets, especially in the hands, wrists, and feet. Many of these areas are within the first 3 cm of the skin surface and are ideal targets for ultra-high-frequency ultrasound. The high spatial resolution and the superb image quality achievable allow foreseeing a wider use of this novel technique, which has the potential to bring innovation to diagnostic imaging.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The purpose of this review is to present the latest innovations and current topics in musculoskeletal diagnosis and interventional imaging, with a focus on degenerative and inflammatory diseases. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this study, the search was conducted through the online databases PubMed and Google Scholar, including articles published in English in the past 15 years, in order to find existing studies, clinical cases, and reviews on the latest innovations and current topics in degenerative and inflammatory musculoskeletal pathologies. RESULTS Imaging plays a pivotal role in the diagnosis and treatment of MSK degenerative and inflammatory disease. In the last few years continuous innovations and technological advances have allowed new clinical applications in the management of MSK disorder. Advanced magnetic resonance techniques, the introduction of fusion imaging techniques and new approaches to infiltrative medicine are revolutionizing the clinical and therapeutic approach to degenerative and inflammatory pathologies. Artificial intelligence also increasingly seeks to be applied in all fields of medicine and radiology with increasingly promising results. CONCLUSIONS Imaging modalities undergo continuous innovations and revolutions due to technological advances, with direct repercussions on clinical applications and new therapeutic potential through interventional radiology techniques. In recent years, there have been particular innovations in the context of musculoskeletal imaging of degenerative and inflammatory diseases, both for diagnosis and intervention.

Abstract
Since 1997, heart failure (HF) has been designated as a new epidemic. However, it is not easy to find a proper definition since different descriptors are used in clinical practice. Moreover, HF is not a single clinical entity, and there is a close relationship between HF and all cardiomyopathies (CMs). This leads us to also consider accuracy in the characterization of CMs, which is essential to define the therapeutic process of HF patients. This narrative review aims to describe the main mechanisms leading to HF in different CMs, as well as the current diagnostic and prognostic advantages deriving from advanced imaging in the cardiac field.

Abstract
Liver cancer is the sixth most detected tumor and the third leading cause of tumor death worldwide. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary liver malignancy with specific risk factors and a targeted population. Imaging plays a major role in the management of HCC from screening to post-therapy follow-up. In order to optimize the diagnostic-therapeutic management and using a universal report, which allows more effective communication among the multidisciplinary team, several classification systems have been proposed over time, and LI-RADS is the most utilized. Currently, LI-RADS comprises four algorithms addressing screening and surveillance, diagnosis on computed tomography (CT)/magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), diagnosis on contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and treatment response on CT/MRI. The algorithm allows guiding the radiologist through a stepwise process of assigning a category to a liver observation, recognizing both major and ancillary features. This process allows for characterizing liver lesions and assessing treatment. In this review, we highlighted both major and ancillary features that could define HCC. The distinctive dynamic vascular pattern of arterial hyperenhancement followed by washout in the portal-venous phase is the key hallmark of HCC, with a specificity value close to 100%. However, the sensitivity value of these combined criteria is inadequate. Recent evidence has proven that liver-specific contrast could be an important tool not only in increasing sensitivity but also in diagnosis as a major criterion. Although LI-RADS emerges as an essential instrument to support the management of liver tumors, still many improvements are needed to overcome the current limitations. In particular, features that may clearly distinguish HCC from cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) and combined HCC-CCA lesions and the assessment after locoregional radiation-based therapy are still fields of research.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate in a cohort of patients with peri-implant mucositis: (a) the efficacy of professional mechanical debridement therapy assisted using Bioptron Hyperlight Therapy on the reduction in periodontal indexes and (b) the reduction in total oxidative salivary stress. Forty subjects with a diagnosis of peri-implant mucositis were enrolled and randomly assigned to the Study Group (mechanical debridement therapy assisted using Bioptron Hyperlight Therapy) or Control Group (mechanical debridement therapy alone). The study duration was 6 months. Data on plaque index (PI), bleeding on probing (BoP), probing pocket depth (PPD), and pain relief on Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) were recorded at T0, T1 (14 days), T2 (1 month), and T3 (6 months). Group differences were assessed using Student's t-test and Pearson's Chi-squared test of homogeneity. PI and PPD decreased in the Study Group at the [T0; T1] time interval and during the overall time of observation significantly more than in the Control Group; BoP and pain on VAS decreased significantly faster in the Study Group than in the Control Group. Differences in Salivary Antioxidant Test (SAT) changes were not significant at any time interval. Patients' gender and smoking habit were not correlated with the clinical outcomes. Clinical parameters related to peri-implant mucositis significantly improved in the Study Group, which demonstrated the clinical efficacy of the Bioptron Hyperlight Therapy as an adjunct to standard of care for the treatment of peri-implant mucositis. Abstract
The assessment of nodal involvement in patients with rectal cancer (RC) is fundamental in disease management. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is routinely used for local and nodal staging of RC by using morphological criteria. The actual dimensional and morphological criteria for nodal assessment present several limitations in terms of sensitivity and specificity. For these reasons, several different techniques, such as Diffusion Weighted Imaging (DWI), Intravoxel Incoherent Motion (IVIM), Diffusion Kurtosis Imaging (DKI), and Dynamic Contrast Enhancement (DCE) in MRI have been introduced but still not fully validated. Positron Emission Tomography (PET)/CT plays a pivotal role in the assessment of LNs; more recently PET/MRI has been introduced. The advantages and limitations of these imaging modalities will be provided in this narrative review. The second part of the review includes experimental techniques, such as iron-oxide particles (SPIO), and dual-energy CT (DECT). Radiomics analysis is an active field of research, and the evidence about LNs in RC will be discussed. The review also discusses the different recommendations between the European and North American guidelines for the evaluation of LNs in RC, from anatomical considerations to structured reporting.

Abstract
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are among the most common causes of access to the Emergency Department and among the leading causes of death worldwide. Accurate diagnostic algorithms are mandatory to ensure a rapid life-saving treatment. However, non-specific clinical presentation and unnecessary referrals to other subspecialties may lead to misinterpretation of the diagnosis and delays. In recent years, the development of imaging technologies has allowed Computed Tomography (CT) to play a prominent role in the concepts of CVD rule-in and rule-out. An optimization strategy for CT protocols is needed to reduce variability and improve image quality. A correct diagnostic suspicion is crucial, as different districts (i.e., heart, aorta and pulmonary circulation) may require different investigation techniques. Additionally, the CVD pre-test probability assessment is highly correlated with CT accuracy. The purpose of this narrative review is to analyze the current role of CT in the approach to the CVDs in the ED, and to analyze the main strategies of CT optimization.

Abstract
Radiologists play a key role in the management of trauma patients. With the improvement of computed tomography (CT), radiologist makes an important contribution to the timely diagnosis of trauma-related findings and the choice of the most suitable treatment, improving patient outcomes. It is important to select the most appropriate imaging technique, which in the trauma patient is CT, and especially the most appropriate CT protocol, to correctly characterize trauma injuries. Currently, there is no agreement on what the optimal protocol is, acquisition times and number of contrast enhanced phases are not standardized. This is a review of the most recent literature on optimizing the CT protocol in polytrauma, with the intent of giving a useful tool for radiologists in the management of trauma patients.

Abstract
Background This paper offers an assessment of diagnostic tools in the evaluation of Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). Methods Several electronic datasets were analysed to search papers on morphological and functional evaluation in ICC patients. Papers published in English language has been scheduled from January 2010 to December 2021.
Results We found that 88 clinical studies satisfied our research criteria. Several functional parameters and morphological elements allow a truthful ICC diagnosis. The contrast medium evaluation, during the different phases of contrast studies, support the recognition of several distinctive features of ICC. The imaging tool to employed and the type of contrast medium in magnetic resonance imaging, extracellular or hepatobiliary, should change considering patient, departement, and regional features. Also, Radiomics is an emerging area in the evaluation of ICCs. Post treatment studies are required to evaluate the efficacy and the safety of therapies so as the patient surveillance. Conclusions Several morphological and functional data obtained during Imaging studies allow a truthful ICC diagnosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Radiomics and radiogenomics are two words that recur often in language of radiologists, nuclear doctors and medical physicists especially in oncology field. Radiomics is the technique of medical images analysis to extract quantitative data that are not detected by human eye. METHODS This article is a narrative review on Radiomics in Medical Imaging. In particular, the review exposes the process, the limitations related to radiomics, and future prospects are discussed. RESULTS Several studies showed that radiomics is very promising. However, there were some critical issues: poor standardization and generalization of radiomics results, data-quality control, repeatability, reproducibility, database balancing and issues related to model overfitting. CONCLUSIONS Radiomics procedure should made considered all pitfalls and challenges to obtain robust and reproducible results that could be generalized in other patients cohort.

Abstract
PURPOSE To assess the efficacy of radiomics features obtained by T2-weighted sequences to predict clinical outcomes following liver resection in colorectal liver metastases patients. METHODS This retrospective analysis was approved by the local Ethical Committee board and radiological databases were interrogated, from January 2018 to May 2021, to select patients with liver metastases with pathological proof and MRI study in pre-surgical setting. The cohort of patients included a training set and an external validation set. The internal training set included 51 patients with 61 years of median age and 121 liver metastases. The validation cohort consisted a total of 30 patients with single lesion with 60 years of median age. For each volume of interest, 851 radiomics features were extracted as median values using PyRadiomics. Nonparametric test, intraclass correlation, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis, linear regression modelling and pattern recognition methods (support vector machine (SVM), k-nearest neighbours (KNN), artificial neural network (NNET) and decision tree (DT)) were considered. RESULTS The best predictor to discriminate expansive versus infiltrative front of tumour growth was obtained by wavelet_LHL_gldm_DependenceNonUniformityNormalized with an accuracy of 82%; to discriminate high grade versus low grade or absent was the wavelet_LLH_glcm_Imc1 with accuracy of 88%; to differentiate the mucinous type of tumour was the wavelet_LLH_glcm_JointEntropy with accuracy of 92% while to identify tumour recurrence was the wavelet_LLL_glcm_Correlation with accuracy of 85%. Linear regression model increased the performance obtained with respect to the univariate analysis exclusively in the discrimination of expansive versus infiltrative front of tumour growth reaching an accuracy of 90%, a sensitivity of 95% and a specificity of 80%. Considering significant texture metrics tested with pattern recognition approaches, the best performance was reached by the KNN in the discrimination of the tumour budding considering the four textural predictors obtaining an accuracy of 93%, a sensitivity of 81% and a specificity of 97%. CONCLUSIONS Ours results confirmed the capacity of radiomics to identify as biomarkers, several prognostic features that could affect the treatment choice in patients with liver metastases, in order to obtain a more personalized approach.

Abstract
Diet and nutrition are generally categorized as modifiable lifestyle risk factors for the development of periodontal disease because diet may influence a person’s inflammatory status. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of the application of a diet plan focused on reducing inflammation and oxidative stress in treating periodontitis. Subjects suffering from periodontitis were divided into two groups. Both groups underwent non-surgical periodontal therapy, and in the optimized diet (OD) group, this treatment was associated with a diet plan. The sample consisted of 60 subjects; 32 (53%) were treated in the non-optimized diet group (ND group) and 28 (47%) in the OD group. In both groups, the periodontal treatment significantly improved the recorded periodontal outcomes between T0 and T1 (FMPS, FMBS, CAL, PPD). Inter-group differences were not statistically significant (p < 0.05). The linear regression models showed that the optimized diet was associated with a higher reduction in PPD and FMBS after the treatment, while patients who had higher LDL levels (over 100 mg/mL) had a less favorable improvement of PPD. The application of an improved diet plan can increase the reduction in PPD and FMBS after non-surgical periodontal therapy when compared with periodontal treatment alone.

Abstract
Abdominal acute pain is a manifestation of heterogeneous medical conditions, with difficult clinical-laboratory assessment. Multi-detector CT (MDCT) is the gold standard imaging technique for evaluating adult patients with acute abdominal pain. Due to its fast execution and the high spatial resolution, CT is fundamental in the diagnostic and therapeutic work-up of patients with time-dependent pathology that could require surgical treatment, reducing mortality and morbidity. However, the radiological risk connected to the ionizing radiation use should not be underestimated, especially in young patients. The aim of this study is to identify optimized CT protocols to apply in the management of non-traumatic acute abdomen. In particular, this review is focused on the main emergency settings: acute pancreatitis, small bowel obstruction, acute appendicitis and acute diverticulitis. This survey would not be complete without mentioning Dual-Energy CT (DECT) technique, one of the last frontiers in CT, achieving encouraging results also in acute abdominal conditions.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The rare hepatic tumor can have a wide spectrum of radiologic features, representing a diagnostic challenge. Our purpose is to report the experience of a National Cancer Center, emphasizing the radiological features encountered and assessing the LR-M categories in the diagnostic performances for these lesions. PATIENTS AND METHODS We assessed 113 patients who underwent surgical resection or biopsy for rare liver lesions from May 2010 to December 2020. For these patients a computerized search of radiological records was performed to identify which had been studied with MRI and CT. For each lesion, the radiologists recorded the attenuation on CT studies and signal intensity (SI) in T1 weighted (W), in T2-W, DWI and in the related map of the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC). We assessed the presence and the type of contrast enhancement (CE) during contrast study on CT and MRI and the enhancement was categorized according to LI-RADS 2018. We also assessed the presence of other features in LR-M categories (ancillary LR-M features) in order to classify different subgroups. The lesions were classified according to LR categories, and the gold standard was histological analysis. RESULTS The final study population included 95 patients (46 females and 49 males), with a mean age of 51 years (range 38-83 years). 83 patients had solid lesions, 12 patients had cystic lesions (simple or complex). According to histological analysis, we categorized 79 patients with malignant lesions and 16 patients with benign lesions. According to radiological features we assessed as malignant 82 patients (79 true malignant and 3 false malignant), as benign 13 patients (all true benign). Therefore, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and accuracy of radiological features to identify benign and malignant lesions were 100.0%, 81.3%, 96.3%, 100.0% and 96.8%, respectively. We found no significant difference in signal and contrast enhancement appearance among all LR-M categories (p-value =0.34 at Chi square test). However, among LR-M categories the presence of satellite nodules was a feature typical of cHCC-CC (p-value < 0.05 at Chi square test). The presence of intra lesion necrosis and haemorrhage was suggestive of sarcoma (p-value < 0.05 at Chi square test). CONCLUSIONS High diagnostic accuracy was obtained by LI-RADS classification between malignant and benign lesion. The presence of ancillary features could help the radiologist towards a correct diagnosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Structured reporting (SR) in radiology is becoming increasingly necessary and has been recognized recently by major scientific societies. This study aims to build structured CT-based reports in colon cancer during the staging phase in order to improve communication between the radiologist, members of multidisciplinary teams and patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS A panel of expert radiologists, members of the Italian Society of Medical and Interventional Radiology, was established. A modified Delphi process was used to develop the SR and to assess a level of agreement for all report sections. Cronbach's alpha (Cα) correlation coefficient was used to assess internal consistency for each section and to measure quality analysis according to the average inter-item correlation. RESULTS The final SR version was built by including n = 18 items in the "Patient Clinical Data" section, n = 7 items in the "Clinical Evaluation" section, n = 9 items in the "Imaging Protocol" section and n = 29 items in the "Report" section. Overall, 63 items were included in the final version of the SR. Both in the first and second round, all sections received a higher than good rating: a mean value of 4.6 and range 3.6-4.9 in the first round; a mean value of 5.0 and range 4.9-5 in the second round. In the first round, Cronbach's alpha (Cα) correlation coefficient was a questionable 0.61. In the first round, the overall mean score of the experts and the sum of scores for the structured report were 4.6 (range 1-5) and 1111 (mean value 74.07, STD 4.85), respectively. In the second round, Cronbach's alpha (Cα) correlation coefficient was an acceptable 0.70. In the second round, the overall mean score of the experts and the sum of score for structured report were 4.9 (range 4-5) and 1108 (mean value 79.14, STD 1.83), respectively. The overall mean score obtained by the experts in the second round was higher than the overall mean score of the first round, with a lower standard deviation value to underline greater agreement among the experts for the structured report reached in this round. CONCLUSIONS A wide implementation of SR is of critical importance in order to offer referring physicians and patients optimum quality of service and to provide researchers with the best quality data in the context of big data exploitation of available clinical data. Implementation is a complex procedure, requiring mature technology to successfully address the multiple challenges of user-friendliness, organization and interoperability.

Abstract
The primary aim of this observational survey study was to assess patients' attitudes toward clinical dental practice during the COVID-19 pandemic; the secondary aim was to evaluate patients' attitudes towards oral health by maintaining an appropriate lifestyle and oral hygiene at home. The questionnaire was developed using Google Forms. The questionnaire consisted of three parts: Part A-geographic, demographic, and personal data; Part B-patients' attitude toward oral health selfcare and lifestyle; Part C-patients' attitude toward dental practice. This survey, conducted during the months of November and December 2020, enrolled 1135 subjects throughout Italy. All data were statistically analyzed. COVID-19 has changed patients' approach to dental procedures. Most of the people interviewed lived in families, and their greatest fear was infecting a family member. Restrictive measures forced people to stay at home, which led to an increased consumption of various types of food, including cariogenic foods. People said they felt safe when they went to the dentist, but they also paid special attention to measures to prevent contagion. Among the measures that should be introduced in similar situations in the future, people wanted telemedicine, a phone recall, and the possible use of video clips for home oral care instructions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Radiomics can provide quantitative features from medical imaging that can be correlated with various biological features and clinical endpoints. Delta radiomics, on the other hand, consists in the analysis of feature variation at different acquisition time points, usually before and after therapy. The aim of this study was to provide a systematic review of the different delta radiomics approaches. METHODS Eligible articles were searched in Embase, PubMed, and ScienceDirect using a search string that included free text and/or Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) with three key search terms: "radiomics", "texture", and "delta". Studies were analysed using QUADAS-2 and the RQS tool. RESULTS Forty-eight studies were finally included. The studies were divided into preclinical/methodological (five studies, 10.4%); rectal cancer (six studies, 12.5%); lung cancer (twelve studies, 25%); sarcoma (five studies, 10.4%); prostate cancer (three studies, 6.3%), head and neck cancer (six studies, 12.5%); gastrointestinal malignancies excluding rectum (seven studies, 14.6%), and other disease sites (four studies, 8.3%). The median RQS of all studies was 25% (mean 21% ± 12%), with 13 studies (30.2%) achieving a quality score < 10% and 22 studies (51.2%) < 25%. CONCLUSIONS Delta radiomics shows potential benefit for several clinical endpoints in oncology (differential diagnosis, prognosis and prediction of treatment response, and evaluation of side effects). Nevertheless, the studies included in this systematic review suffer from the bias of overall low quality, so that the conclusions are currently heterogeneous, not robust, and not replicable. Further research with prospective and multicentre studies is needed for the clinical validation of delta radiomics approaches.

Abstract
The increase in oncology knowledge and the possibility of creating personalized medicine by selecting a more suitable therapy related to tumor subtypes, as well as the patient's management with cancer within a multidisciplinary team has improved the clinical outcomes. Early detection of cancer through screening-based imaging is probably the major contributor to a reduction in mortality for certain cancers. Nowadays, imaging can also characterize several lesions and predict their histopathological features and can predict tumor behaviour and prognosis. CT is the main diagnostic tool in oncologic imaging and is widely used for the tumors detection, staging, and follow-up. Moreover, since CT accounts for 49-66% of overall patient radiation exposure, the constant reduction, optimization, dose inter- and intraindividual consistency are major goals in radiological field. In the recent years, numerous dose reduction techniques have been established and created voltage modulation keeping a satisfactory image quality. The introduction of CT dual-layer detector technology enabled the acquisition of spectral data without additional CT x-ray tube or additional acquisitions. In addition, since MRI does not expose the body to radiation, it has become a mainstay of non-invasive diagnostic radiology modality since the 1980s.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is the second most common type of primary hepatic malignancy. Aim of this work is to analyse the features of ICC and its differential diagnosis at MRI, assessing two categories intraparenchymal and peribiliary lesions. METHODS The study population included 88 patients with histological diagnosis of ICCs: 61 with mass-forming type, 23 with periductal-infiltrating tumours and 4 with intraductal-growing type. As a control study groups, we identified: 86 consecutive patients with liver colorectal intrahepatic metastases (mCRC) (groups A); 35 consecutive patients with peribiliary metastases (groups B); 62 consecutive patients (groups C) with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC); 18 consecutive patients (groups D) with combined hepatocellular cholangiocarcinoma (cHCC-CCA); and 26 consecutive patients (groups E) with hepatic hemangioma. For all lesions, magnetic resonance (MR) features were assessed according to Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (LI-RADS) version 2018. The liver-specific gadolinium ethoxybenzyl dimeglumine-EOB (Primovist, Bayer Schering Pharma, Germany), was employed. Chi-square test was employed to analyse differences in percentage values of categorical variable, while the nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis test was used to test for statistically significant differences between the median values of the continuous variables. However, false discovery rate adjustment according to Benjamin and Hochberg for multiple testing was considered. RESULTS T1- and T2-weighted signal intensity (SI), restricted diffusion, transitional phase (TP) and hepatobiliary phase (HP) aspects allowed the differentiation between study group (mass-forming ICCs) and each other control group (A, C, D, E) with statistical significance, while arterial phase (AP) appearance allowed the differentiation between study group and the control groups C and D with statistical significance and PP appearance allowed the differentiation between study group and the control groups A, C and D with statistical significance. Instead, no MR feature allowed the differentiation between study group (periductal-infiltrating type) and control group B. CONCLUSION T1 and T2 W SI, restricted diffusion, TP and HP appearance allowed the differentiation between mass-forming ICCs and mimickers with statistical significance, while AP appearance allowed the differentiation between study group and the control groups C and D with statistical significance and PP appearance allowed the differentiation between study group and the control groups A, C and D.

Abstract
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a non-invasive imaging technique (non-ionizing radiation) with superior soft tissue contrasts and potential morphological and functional applications. However, long examination and interpretation times, as well as higher costs, still represent barriers to MRI use in clinical routine. Abbreviated MRI protocols have emerged as an alternative to standard MRI protocols. Abbreviated MRI protocols eliminate redundant sequences that negatively affect cost, acquisition time, patient comfort. However, the diagnostic information is generally not compromised. Abbreviated MRI protocols have already been utilized for hepatocellular carcinoma, for prostate cancer detection, and for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease screening.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To report an overview and update on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and COVID-19 using chest Computed Tomography (CT) scan and chest X-ray images (CXR). Machine Learning and Deep Learning Approaches for Diagnosis and Treatment were identified. METHODS Several electronic datasets were analyzed. The search covered the years from January 2019 to June 2021. The inclusion criteria were studied evaluating the use of AI methods in COVID-19 disease reporting performance results in terms of accuracy or precision or area under Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC). RESULTS Twenty-two studies met the inclusion criteria: 13 papers were based on AI in CXR and 10 based on AI in CT. The summarized mean value of the accuracy and precision of CXR in COVID-19 disease were 93.7% ± 10.0% of standard deviation (range 68.4-99.9%) and 95.7% ± 7.1% of standard deviation (range 83.0-100.0%), respectively. The summarized mean value of the accuracy and specificity of CT in COVID-19 disease were 89.1% ± 7.3% of standard deviation (range 78.0-99.9%) and 94.5 ± 6.4% of standard deviation (range 86.0-100.0%), respectively. No statistically significant difference in summarized accuracy mean value between CXR and CT was observed using the Chi square test (p value > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Summarized accuracy of the selected papers is high but there was an important variability; however, less in CT studies compared to CXR studies. Nonetheless, AI approaches could be used in the identification of disease clusters, monitoring of cases, prediction of the future outbreaks, mortality risk, COVID-19 diagnosis, and disease management.

Abstract
This article provides an overview of diagnostic evaluation and ablation treatment assessment in Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC). Only studies, in the English language from January 2010 to January 202, evaluating the diagnostic tools and assessment of ablative therapies in HCC patients were included. We found 173 clinical studies that satisfied the inclusion criteria.HCC may be noninvasively diagnosed by imaging findings. Multiphase contrast-enhanced imaging is necessary to assess HCC. Intravenous extracellular contrast agents are used for CT, while the agents used for MRI may be extracellular or hepatobiliary. Both gadoxetate disodium and gadobenate dimeglumine may be used in hepatobiliary phase imaging. For treatment-naive patients undergoing CT, unenhanced imaging is optional; however, it is required in the post treatment setting for CT and all MRI studies. Late arterial phase is strongly preferred over early arterial phase. The choice of modality (CT, US/CEUS or MRI) and MRI contrast agent (extracelllar or hepatobiliary) depends on patient, institutional, and regional factors. MRI allows to link morfological and functional data in the HCC evaluation. Also, Radiomics is an emerging field in the assessment of HCC patients.Postablation imaging is necessary to assess the treatment results, to monitor evolution of the ablated tissue over time, and to evaluate for complications. Post- thermal treatments, imaging should be performed at regularly scheduled intervals to assess treatment response and to evaluate for new lesions and potential complications.

Abstract
Simple Summary This review based on a literature search aims at showing the impact of Texture Analysis in the prediction of response to neoadjuvant radiotherapy and/or chemoradiotherapy. The manuscript explores radiomics approaches in different fields of neoadjuvant radiotherapy, including esophageal cancer, lung cancer, sarcoma and rectal cancer in order to shed a light in the setting of neoadjuvant radiotherapy that can be used to tailor the best subsequent therapeutical strategy. Abstract Introduction: Neoadjuvant radiotherapy is currently used mainly in locally advanced rectal cancer and sarcoma and in a subset of non-small cell lung cancer and esophageal cancer, whereas in other diseases it is under investigation. The evaluation of the efficacy of the induction strategy is made possible by performing imaging investigations before and after the neoadjuvant therapy and is usually challenging. In the last decade, texture analysis (TA) has been developed to help the radiologist to quantify and identify the parameters related to tumor heterogeneity, which cannot be appreciated by the naked eye. The aim of this narrative is to review the impact of TA on the prediction of response to neoadjuvant radiotherapy and or chemoradiotherapy. Materials and Methods: Key references were derived from a PubMed query. Hand searching and ClinicalTrials.gov were also used. Results: This paper contains a narrative report and a critical discussion of radiomics approaches in different fields of neoadjuvant radiotherapy, including esophageal cancer, lung cancer, sarcoma, and rectal cancer. Conclusions: Radiomics can shed a light on the setting of neoadjuvant therapies that can be used to tailor subsequent approaches or even to avoid surgery in the future. At the same, these results need to be validated in prospective and multicenter trials.

Abstract
The assessment of tumor response, after neoadjuvant radiochemotherapy (nCRT), allows stratifying the patient in order to consider the proper therapeutical management. Histopathology analysis of the surgical specimen is considered the gold standard to assess tumour response and the definition of a complete cancer response is related to the clinical and endoscopic features, by direct evaluation of the rectal wall. However, imaging studies, especially Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) have provided additional parameters, as the evaluation of nodal or mesorectal status. MRI provides a radiological tumour regression grade (mrTRG) that is correlated with the pathologic tumor regression grade (pTRG). Functional MRI parameters have additional impending in early prediction of the efficacy of therapy and can be valuable in drug development processes. Some of functional methodologies are already part of clinical practice: diffusion-weighted MRI (DW-MRI) and perfusion imaging (dynamic contrast enhanced MRI [DCE-MRI]). Other technologies, such as radiomics with MRI are still in the experimental phase. An adequate radiological report describing the restaging of rectal cancer after nCRT should be a "structured report" to improve communication in a multidisciplinary team.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Currently, the technologies most commonly used to treat locally advanced pancreatic cancer are radiofrequency ablation (RFA), microwave ablation, and irreversible (IRE) or reversible electroporation combined with low doses of chemotherapeutic drugs.
AIM To report an overview and updates on ablative techniques in pancreatic cancer.
METHODS Several electronic databases were searched. The search covered the years from January 2000 to January 2021. Moreover, the reference lists of the found papers were analysed for papers not indexed in the electronic databases. All titles and abstracts were analysed.
RESULTS We found 30 studies (14 studies for RFA, 3 for microwave therapy, 10 for IRE, and 3 for electrochemotherapy), comprising 1047 patients, which were analysed further. Two randomized trials were found for IRE. Percutaneous and laparotomy approaches were performed. In the assessed patients, the median maximal diameter of the lesions was in the range of 2.8 to 4.5 cm. All series included patients unfit for surgical treatment, but Martin et al assessed a subgroup of patients with borderline resectable tumours who underwent resection with margin attenuation with IRE. Most studies administered chemotherapy prior to ablative therapies. However, several studies suggest that the key determinant of improved survival is attributable to ablative treatment alone. Nevertheless, the authors suggested chemotherapy before local therapies for several reasons. This strategy may not only downstage a subgroup of patients to curative-intent surgery but also support to recognize patients with biologically unfavourable tumours who would likely not benefit from ablation treatments. Ablation therapies seem safe based on the 1047 patients assessed in this review. The mortality rate ranged from 1.8% to 2%. However, despite the low mortality, the reported rates of severe post procedural complications ranged from 0%-42%. Most reported complications have been self-limiting and manageable. Median overall survival varied between 6.0 and 33 mo. Regarding the technical success rate, assessed papers reported an estimated rate in the range of 85% to 100%. However, the authors reported early recurrence after treatment. A distinct consideration should be made on whether local treatments induce an immune response in the ablated area. Preclinical and clinical studies have shown that RFA is a promising mechanism for inducing antigen-presenting cell infiltration and enhancing the systemic antitumour T-cell immune response and tumour regression.
CONCLUSION In the management of patients with pancreatic cancer, the possibility of a multimodal approach should be considered, and conceptually, the combination of RFA with immunotherapy represents a novel angle of attack against this tumour.

Abstract
Background Radiomics is an emerging field and has a keen interest, especially in the oncology field. The process of a radiomics study consists of lesion segmentation, feature extraction, consistency analysis of features, feature selection, and model building. Manual segmentation is one of the most critical parts of radiomics. It can be time-consuming and suffers from variability in tumor delineation, which leads to the reproducibility problem of calculating parameters and assessing spatial tumor heterogeneity, particularly in large or multiple tumors. Radiomic features provides data on tumor phenotype as well as cancer microenvironment. Radiomics derived parameters, when associated with other pertinent data and correlated with outcomes data, can produce accurate robust evidence based clinical decision support systems. The principal challenge is the optimal collection and integration of diverse multimodal data sources in a quantitative manner that delivers unambiguous clinical predictions that accurately and robustly enable outcome prediction as a function of the impending decisions. Methods The search covered the years from January 2010 to January 2021. The inclusion criterion was: clinical study evaluating radiomics of liver colorectal metastases. Exclusion criteria were studies with no sufficient reported data, case report, review or editorial letter. Results We recognized 38 studies that assessed radiomics in mCRC from January 2010 to January 2021. Twenty were on different tpics, 5 corresponded to most criteria; 3 are review, or letter to editors; so 10 articles were included. Conclusions In colorectal liver metastases radiomics should be a valid tool for the characterization of lesions, in the stratification of patients based on the risk of relapse after surgical treatment and in the prediction of response to chemotherapy treatment.
