Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) The study is aim to investigate whether Deep-inspirational breath-hold (DIBH), compared with free breathing (FB), could provide a short-term cardiac benefit in patients with early left breast cancer after breast-conserving surgery combined whole breast radiotherapy. MATERIALS/METHODS A total of 78 patients with early stage left breast cancer treated with radiotherapy between 2021-2022 after breast-conserving surgery were enrolled. Among them, 32 cases were treated with DIBH technique and 46 cases were treated with free breathing. Patients with previous cardiac disease such as coronary artery disease were excluded. We performed myocardial enzymes, ECG, and ECHO in all patients within 2 weeks before, during, and 6 months after radiotherapy. The results of the two groups were compared using nonparametric tests and chi-square tests, and P < 0.05 indicated statistical significance. Where subclinical acute cardiac injury was defined as new above-normal myocardial enzymes and/or electrocardiographic ST-T or T-wave changes and/or ECHO abnormalities after the start of radiotherapy. RESULTS The median follow-up of patients was 6 months and the mean age of patients was 52.3 years for FB and 44.9 years for DIBH. There were no significant differences in staging, molecular subtype, chemotherapy and endocrine therapy history. The proportion of subclinical acute cardiac injury was smaller in the DIBH group compared to the FB group (DIBH = 31/46 and FB = 28/32, p = 0.042). The most sensitive of the subclinical acute cardiac injury events were detected by myocardial enzymes rising, with cTnI (p = 0.034) and NT-proBNP (p = 0.023) appearing significantly lower in the DIBH patients during radiotherapy. The difference of cTnI between 2 groups at 6 months after radiotherapy became non-significant. In contrast, CK-MB was higher in DIBH compared with FB only 6 months after radiotherapy (p = 0.006). The differences in ECG and ECHO were not significant between the two groups. CONCLUSION After breast-conserving surgery combined with radiotherapy for left early breast cancer, DIBH compared to FB reduces the proportion of acute subclinical cardiac injury that occurs with the most sensitive changes in myocardial enzymes. Subsequent studies will explore the relationship between the short-term subclinical injury and irradiated dose, as well as long term cardiac injury.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Pancreatic cancer patients often have a high symptom burden, significantly impairing patients' quality of life (QOL). Nevertheless, there are hardly any reports on the impact of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) on the QOL of treated patients. For the first time, this study evaluated the effect of HIFU on QOL and compared these results in two European centers. METHODS Eighty patients with advanced pancreatic cancer underwent HIFU (50 in Germany, 30 in Bulgaria). Clinical assessment included evaluation of QOL and symptoms using the EORTC QLQ-C30 questionnaire at baseline and 1, 3, and 6 months after HIFU. Pain intensity was additionally evaluated with the numerical rating score (NRS). RESULTS Compared to baseline, global health significantly improved 3 and 6 months after HIFU treatment (p = 0.02). Functional subscales including physical, emotional, and social functioning were considerably improved at 6 months (p = 0.02, p = 0.01, and p = 0.01, respectively) as were leading symptom pain (p = 0.04 at 6 months), fatigue (p = 0.03 at 3 and p = 0.01 at 6 months), and appetite loss (p = 0.01 at 6 months). Moreover, pain intensity measured by NRS revealed effective and strong pain relief at all time points (p < 0.001). Reported effects were independent of tumor stage, metastatic status, and country of treatment. CONCLUSIONS This study showed that HIFU represents an effective treatment option of advanced pancreatic cancer improving QOL by increasing global health and mitigation of physical complaints with a low rate of side effects, independent of the examiner. Therefore, HIFU is a worthwhile additional treatment besides systemic palliative chemotherapy or best supportive care in management of this aggressive disease. KEY POINTS • In a prospective two-center study, it was shown that HIFU represents an effective treatment option of advanced pancreatic cancer improving QOL. • HIFU in pancreatic cancer patients is associated with a low rate of side effects, independent of the performer. • HIFU is a worthwhile additional treatment besides systemic palliative chemotherapy or best supportive care in management of this aggressive disease.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the clinical usefulness of the microbubble contrast agent SonoVue in enhancing high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) for the treatment of adenomyosis. METHODS A total of 102 patients with adenomyosis, assessed from August 2015 to April 2017, were randomly divided into 1-minute (A) and 10-minute (B) groups, respectively. In groups A and B, HIFU started 1 minute and 10 minutes, respectively, after SonoVue injection. All patients underwent a magnetic resonance imaging scan before and after HIFU treatment. RESULTS The occurrence rates of massive gray scale change, nonperfused volume, and fractional ablation were similar in both groups (P > .05). Meanwhile, sonication time to massive gray scale change was reduced in group A compared with group B (P < .05). In addition, mean power, total energy, and energy efficiency factor were lower in group A than group B (all P < .05). The incidence rates of most perioperative and all postoperative adverse events were similar in both groups (P > .05). The incidence rates of pain in the treated region, leg pain, and sciatic or buttock pain during HIFU were substantially lower in group A than group B (P < .05). CONCLUSIONS Overall, starting HIFU sonication at 1 minute after SonoVue injection enhances HIFU ablation by cavitation and heating and is safe. Early massive gray scale change, lower total energy, and reduced mean power are potential safety factors.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of rhubarb-based Chinese herbal formulae (RCHF), which are widely used to treat hepatic encephalopathy (HE) in China. METHODS Nine online databases were searched from inception to November 22, 2016. Eligible studies were randomized controlled trials of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatment for adult patients (≥ 18 years old) with HE. Outcomes such as mortality rate, clinical response rate, blood ammonia level, and alanine aminotransferase were evaluated between TCM group and control group. RESULTS Thirty studies involving 2661 HE patients were analyzed. Most studies used RCHF treatment. Compared with conventional treatment as usual, lactulose, and vinegar, RCHF were associated with significant improvement in clinical response rate [risk ratio (RR) = 1.33, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.25, 1.43, I 2 = 0%; RR = 1.26, 95% CI = 1.14, 1.38, I 2 = 22%; and RR = 1.19, 95% CI = 1.06, 1.33, I 2 = 0%, respectively] and significant reductions in levels of blood ammonia and alanine aminotransferase. Only minor RCHF-associated adverse events, such as abdominal pain (0.3%), anal tenesmus (0.3%), and diarrhea (2.3%), were reported, and there were no significant differences in these events between the treatment group and the three types of control group. CONCLUSION The findings suggest that RCHF may be an alternative treatment option for HE patients. More rigorous multicenter studies with larger samples and longer observational periods are needed to confirm these findings.

Abstract
PURPOSE The purpose of this study is to compare BLADE diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) with single-shot echo planar imaging (EPI) DWI on the aspects of feasibility of imaging the sellar region and image quality. METHODS A total of 3 healthy volunteers and 52 patients with suspected lesions in the sellar region were included in this prospective intra-individual study. All exams were performed at 3.0T with a BLADE DWI sequence and a standard single-shot EP-DWI sequence. Phantom measurements were performed to measure the objective signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Two radiologists rated the image quality according to the visualisation of the internal carotid arteries, optic chiasm, pituitary stalk, pituitary gland and lesion, and the overall image quality. One radiologist measured lesion sizes for detecting their relationship with the image score. RESULTS The SNR in BLADE DWI sequence showed no significant difference from the single-shot EPI sequence (P>0.05). All of the assessed regions received higher scores in BLADE DWI images than single-shot EP-DWI.

Abstract
El propósito de este trabajo fue determinar el efecto de la edad de sacrificio, densidad de población, sexo, tipo de yacija, tipo de alimentador y tipo de gallinero sobre posibles defectos de la canal tales como huesos rotos, defectos articulares, erosiones en la pechuga, sangre y hematomas de la pechuga, muslo o alas, hematomas de la pechuga. La incidencia de estos problemas decreció al aumentar la edad del ave. La incidencia de huesos rotos, defectos articulares y hematomas en la pechuga aumentó con la densidad de población. Los defectos articulares y sangre o hematomas del muslo en las hembras fueron más frecuentes que en los machos. No se encontraron diferencias entre tipos de yacija, tipos de alimentador o tipo de gallinero. Huesos rotos, hematomas u otros defectos indican ausencia de bienestar y pérdidas económicas. Se determinó la contribución al total de la naturaleza e incidencia de defectos.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE We are interested in the metabolism of baicalin in human body to offer more information to clinic. METHOD Urine of ten persons was collected during 2-18 h after taking 1.0 g of baicalin orally, and the urine was concentrated to 0.5 L, then filtered, the solution being loaded on an iron exchange column eluted with 1.0 L of H2O and 1.0 L of 50% EtOH. The EtOH fraction was concentrated and loaded on a Sephadex LH 20 column eluted with 0.5 L of H2O to obtain 15 fractions, which were detected by silica gel TLC (CHCl3-MeOH-H2O, 1:1:0.1). The fractions 8-11 showed flavonoid characteristics by spraying FeCl3 reagent, and the four fractions were combined to obtain the sample containing metabolites of baicalin for HPLC analysis and LCMS measurement. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS M1, M2 and M3 was identified as baicalein-6-O-beta-glucopyranuronoside; 6-O-methyl-baicalin-7-O-beta-glucopyranuronoside and baicalin.

Abstract
Osteoporosis as a worldwide problem is discussed in the present review and the question of improving peak bone mass to reduce the risk of osteoporosis and osteoporotic fracture is addressed. The available evidence points to pre-puberty and puberty as the most opportune periods for intervention, but the potential for achievable increments in bone mass is shown to be small compared with the overwhelming influence of heredity, body composition and hormonal factors on bone. Lean body mass appears to be positively correlated with bone mass, while black-white racial differences in bone mass appear to be related to greater lean mass and lower bone turnover rate in blacks. Within races, twin and parent-offspring models have suggested that 46-80 % of the variance in bone mineral density can be explained by inherited factors; however, the mechanism of the genetic influence on bone density remains poorly understood. Moderate regular exercise seems to maintain bone mass while more vigorous regular exercise increases it in children and young adults. Ca intake has been found to be positively associated with bone mass in many but not all studies, possibly because of a ceiling at about 1300-1500 mg/d for young people. Other nutritional variables, including vitamin D, have been little investigated in relation to childhood and adolescent bone mass. The influence of milk as a source of highly bioavailable Ca and other nutrients has also been less frequently investigated, which is of concern given the cessation of school milk programmes in Western countries over the last three decades. Intervention studies to improve bone health in young people have mainly been based on Ca milk or exercise. The evidence points to the benefits to bone of such interventions, particularly when commenced pre-puberty, and it seems that daily consumption of 200-300 ml milk/d by children and adolescents has no adverse side effects. The benefits to bone are almost universally shown to be lost fairly rapidly after Ca or exercise intervention ceases; there is therefore no justification in terms of bone health for short-term interventions of this nature. The question of withdrawal of milk supplementation has undergone very little examination. Further, very little evidence is available on the effects of long-term interventions of any sort on bone health. Nevertheless, the data obtained so far permit the suggestion that promotion of Ca intake (e.g. at the higher level of current recommendations) and exercise commencing in the pre-pubertal period should be adopted as policy now.

Abstract
The records of 49 patients with neurilemmoma in the neck and oral and maxillofacial region (OMR) were reviewed. The results showed some location-related differences in clinical behavior, including six cases of recurrence and two cases of malignant change found in the OMR. It was suggested that anatomic factors play an important role in the poor prognosis of tumors in the OMR.
