Abstract
UNLABELLED Huanglongbing (HLB) is a highly destructive disease that decreases the yield and quality of Citrus medica L. var. sarcodactylis Swingle (C. medica var. sarcodactylis) and poses a great threat to the development of the global citrus industry. To explore the influence of HLB infection on C. medica var. sarcodactylis, levels of photosynthetic pigments, malondialdehyde (MDA), and carbohydrates, as well as antioxidant enzyme activities, were measured. The results show that HLB infection decreased photosynthetic pigment content, increased MDA content and antioxidant enzyme activities, and caused various changes in carbohydrate levels in stem, fruit, and leaf tissues. Transcriptomic analysis of C. medica var. sarcodactylis was also used to identify key genes related to the carbohydrate metabolic synthesis pathway in C. medica var. sarcodactylis. The C. medica var. sarcodactylis ADP-glucose pyrophosphorylase1 (CmAGP1), CmAGP2, C. medica var. sarcodactylis Granule-bound starch synthase (CmGBSS), C. medica var. sarcodactylis Sucrose synthases1 (CmSUS1), CmSUS2, C. medica var. sarcodactylis Sucrose phosphate synthase (CmSPS), C. medica var. sarcodactylis alkaline/neutral invertase1 (CmNi1), CmNi2, CmNi3 and CmNi4 were successfully cloned and identified, and differential expression analysis showed that HLB infection significantly upregulated these genes in stems and leaves. In conclusion, HLB infection causes cellular damage, a reduction in photosynthetic capacity, decreased pathogen resistance, and severe disorders in carbohydrate metabolism in C. medica var. sarcodactylis. Abstract
The fruit of Citrus medica L. var. sarcodactylis Swingle is not only used as a traditional medicinal plant, but also served as a delicious food. Six new (3'→7″)-biflavonoids (1-6), and twelve known biflavonoid derivatives (7-18) were isolated and characterized from the fruits of C. medica L. var. sarcodactylis Swingle for the first time. Their structures were determined by extensive and comprehensive analyzing NMR, HR-ESI-MS, UV, and IR spectral data coupled with the data described in the literature. Compounds (1-18) were evaluated for their hypolipidemic activities with Orlistat as the positive control, and assayed for their immunosuppressive activities with Dexamethasone as the positive control, respectively. Among them, compounds (1-3) exhibited moderate inhibition of pancreatic lipase activity by inhibiting 68.56 ± 1.40%, 56.18 ± 1.57%, 53.51 ± 1.59% of pancreatic lipase activities at the concentration of 100 μM, respectively. Compounds (4-6) and 8 showed potent immunosuppressive activities with the IC50 values from 16.83 ± 1.32 to 50.90 ± 1.79 μM. The plausible biogenetic pathway and preliminary structure activity relationship of the selected compounds were scientifically summarized and discussed in this study.

Abstract
Listeria monocytogenes, which could cause severe disease of listeriosis, is one of the most concerned foodborne pathogens worldwide. Citrus medica L. var. sarcodactylis Swingle (Fingered Citron) is one of the citrus species cultivated in south China. Here, we investigated the efficacy of Fingered Citron essential oil (FCEO) against L. monocytogenes and explored the response of L. monocytogenes in the presence of FCEO using genome-wide transcriptome analysis. FCEO exhibited strong anti-listeria activity and obvious alterations of cell morphology were observed by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. Moreover, GO analysis demonstrated many potential cell responses, including metabolic process, cellular process, single-organism process, cell part, membrane, catalytic activity, binding, and transporter activity. KEGG analysis suggests that L. monocytogenes respond and adapt by (1) increasing motility through the enhancement of flagella rotation; (2) promoting cell tumbles and re-orientating to escape from FCEO; (3) enhancing the uptake of carbohydrates from environment to gain more energy; (4) changing the uptake of several metallic cations, including iron, zinc, cobalt, and nickel. Our research contributes to the understanding of the adaptive responses of L. monocytogenes exposed to FCEO and provides novel insights for finding new targets of anti-listeria therapy.

Abstract
The fruit of Citrus medica L. var. sarcodactylis Swingle is a functional food with rich nutrients and medicinal values because of its content of bioactive compounds. A bioactivity-guided chemical investigation from the fruits of C. medica L. var. sarcodactylis Swingle afforded three new benzodioxane neolignans (1-3), three new phenanthrofuran neolignan glycosides (4-6), two new biphenyl-ketone neolignans (7-8), two new 1',7'-bilignan neolignans (9-10), as well as fourteen known neolignan derivatives (11-24), which were isolated and characterized from the fruits of C. medica L. var. sarcodactylis Swingle for the first time. These neolignan derivatives were determined by extensive and comprehensive analyzing NMR, HR-ESI-MS, UV, IR spectral data and compared with the data described in the literature. Among them, compounds 1-3 and 12-13 exhibited moderate hepatoprotective activities to improve the survival rates of HepG2 cells from 46.26 ± 1.90% (APAP, 10 mM) to 67.23 ± 4.25%, 62.87 ± 4.43%, 60.06 ± 6.34%, 56.75 ± 2.30%, 58.35 ± 6.14%, respectively. Additionally, compounds 7-8 and 21-22 displayed moderate neuroprotective activities to raise the survival rates of PC12 cells from 55.30 ± 2.25% to 66.94 ± 3.37%, 70.98 ± 5.05%, 64.64 ± 1.93%, and 62.81 ± 4.11% at 10 μM, respectively. The plausible biogenetic pathway and preliminary structure-activity relationship of the selected compounds were scientifically summarized and discussed in this paper.

Abstract
Investigation of the chemical constituents from the fruits of Citrus medica L. var. sarcodactylis Swingle has led to the characterization of a new sesquiterpene 1 along with thirty-two known compounds. The structure of 1 was established on the basis of 2D NMR spectroscopic and mass spectrometric analyses, and the known compounds were identified by comparison of their physical and spectroscopic data with those reported in the literature. In addition, most of the isolated compounds were evaluated for the activity assayed by the in vitro inhibition of superoxide anion generation and elastase release by human neutrophils. The results showed that only 6,7-dimethoxycoumarin (5) exhibited significant inhibition of superoxide anion generation, with IC50 value of 3.8 ± 1.4 μM.
