Abstract
BACKGROUND Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a common comorbidity in patients with apparent treatment-resistant hypertension (aTRH). We assessed clinical outcomes, healthcare resource utilization events, and costs in patients with aTRH or difficult-to-control hypertension and stage 3-4 CKD with uncontrolled versus controlled blood pressure (BP). METHODS This retrospective cohort study used linked IQVIA Ambulatory EMR-US and IQVIA PharMetrics® Plus claims databases. Adult patients had claims for ≥3 antihypertensive medication classes within 30 days between 01/01/2015 and 06/30/2021, 2 office BP measures recorded 1-90 days apart, ≥1 claim with ICD-9/10-CM diagnosis codes for CKD 3/4, and ≥1 year of continuous enrollment. Baseline BP was defined as uncontrolled (≥130/80 mmHg) or controlled (<130/80 mmHg) BP. Outcomes included risk of major adverse cardiovascular events plus (MACE+; stroke, myocardial infarction, heart failure hospitalization), end-stage renal disease (ESRD), healthcare resource utilization events, and costs during follow-up. RESULTS Of 3,966 patients with stage 3-4 CKD using ≥3 antihypertensive medications, 2,479 had uncontrolled BP and 1,487 had controlled BP. After adjusting for baseline differences, patients with uncontrolled versus controlled BP had a higher risk of MACE+ (hazard ratio [95% CI]: 1.18 [1.03-1.36]), ESRD (1.85 [1.44-2.39]), inpatient hospitalization (rate ratio [95% CI]: 1.35 [1.28-1.43]), and outpatient visits (1.12 [1.11-1.12]), and incurred higher total medical and pharmacy costs (mean difference [95% CI]: $10,055 [$6,741-$13,646] per patient per year). CONCLUSIONS Patients with aTRH and stage 3-4 CKD and uncontrolled BP despite treatment with ≥3 antihypertensive classes had an increased risk of MACE+ and ESRD and incurred greater healthcare resource utilization and medical expenditures compared with patients taking ≥3 antihypertensive classes with controlled BP.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Amivantamab-vmjw (amivantamab) is a bispecific EGFR/MET antibody approved for patients with advanced NSCLC with EGFR exon 20 insertion mutations, after prior therapy. Nevertheless, the benefits and safety of amivantamab in other EGFR-mutant lung cancer, with or without osimertinib, and with concurrent radiation therapy, are less known. METHODS We queried the MD Anderson Lung Cancer GEMINI, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of California Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Stanford Cancer Center's database for patients with EGFR-mutant NSCLC treated with amivantamab, not on a clinical trial. The data analyzed included initial response, duration of treatment, and concomitant radiation safety in overall population and prespecified subgroups. RESULTS A total of 61 patients received amivantamab. Median age was 65 (31-81) years old; 72.1% were female; and 77% were patients with never smoking history. Median number of prior lines of therapies was four. On the basis of tumor's EGFR mutation, 39 patients were in the classical mutation cohort, 15 patients in the exon 20 cohort, and seven patients in the atypical cohort. There were 37 patients (58.7%) who received amivantamab concomitantly with osimertinib and 25 patients (39.1%) who received concomitant radiation. Furthermore, 54 patients were assessable for response in the overall population; 19 patients (45.2%) had clinical response and disease control rate (DCR) was 64.3%. In the classical mutation cohort of the 33 assessable patients, 12 (36.4%) had clinical response and DCR was 48.5%. In the atypical mutation cohort, six of the seven patients (85.7%) had clinical response and DCR was 100%. Of the 13 assessable patients in the exon 20 cohort, five patients (35.7%) had clinical response and DCR was 64.3%. Adverse events reported with amivantamab use were similar as previously described in product labeling. No additional toxicities were noted when amivantamab was given with radiation with or without osimertinib. CONCLUSIONS Our real-world multicenter analysis revealed that amivantamab is a potentially effective treatment option for patients with EGFR mutations outside of exon 20 insertion mutations. The combination of osimertinib with amivantamab is safe and feasible. Radiation therapy also seems safe when administered sequentially or concurrently with amivantamab.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitides (AAV) are rare autoimmune diseases triggering inflammation of small vessels. This real-world analysis was focused on the most common AAV forms, granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) and microscopic polyangiitis (MPA), to describe patients' demographic and clinical characteristics, therapeutic management, disease progression, and the related economic burden. METHODS A retrospective analysis was conducted on administrative databases of a representative sample of Italian healthcare entities, covering approximately 12 million residents. Between January 2010 and December 2020, adult GPA patients were identified by payment waiver code or hospitalization discharge diagnosis, and MPA patients by payment waiver code with or without hospitalization discharge diagnosis. Clinical outcomes were evaluated through AAV-related hospitalizations, renal failure onset, and mortality. Economic analysis included healthcare resource utilization deriving from drugs, hospitalizations, and outpatient specialist services. The related mean direct costs year/patient were also calculated in patients stratified by presence/absence of glucocorticoid therapy and type of inclusion criterion (hospitalization/payment waiver code). RESULTS Overall, 859 AAV patients were divided into GPA (n = 713; 83%) and MPA (n = 146; 17%) cohorts. Outcome indicators highlighted a clinically worse phenotype associated with GPA compared to MPA. Cost analysis during follow-up showed tendentially increased expenditures in glucocorticoid-treated patients versus untreated (overall AAV: €8728 vs. €7911; GPA: €9292 vs. €9143; MPA: €5967 vs. €2390), mainly driven by drugs (AAV: €2404 vs. €874; GPA: €2510 vs. €878; MPA: €1881 vs. €854) and hospitalizations. CONCLUSION Among AAV forms, GPA resulted in a worse clinical picture, higher mortality, and increased costs. This is the first real-world pharmaco-economic analysis on AAV patients stratified by glucocorticoid use on disease management expenditures. In both GPA and MPA patients, glucocorticoid treatment resulted in higher healthcare costs, mostly attributable to medications, and then hospitalizations, confirming the clinical complexity and economic burden for management of patients with autoimmune diseases under chronic immunosuppression.

Abstract
Background Tisagenlecleucel was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2017 for refractory B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) and B-ALL in ≥2nd relapse. Outcomes of patients receiving commercial tisagenlecleucel upon 1st relapse have yet to be established. We aimed to report real-world tisagenlecleucel utilisation patterns and outcomes across indications, specifically including patients treated in 1st relapse, an indication omitted from formal FDA approval. Methods We conducted a retrospective analysis of real-world tisagenlecleucel utilisation patterns across 185 children and young adults treated between August 30, 2017 and March 6, 2020 from centres participating in the Pediatric Real-World CAR Consortium (PRWCC), within the United States. We described definitions of refractory B-ALL used in the real-world setting and categorised patients by reported Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cell indication, including refractory, 1st relapse and ≥2nd relapse B-ALL. We analysed baseline patient characteristics and post-tisagenlecleucel outcomes across defined cohorts. Findings Thirty-six percent (n = 67) of our cohort received tisagenlecleucel following 1st relapse. Of 66 evaluable patients, 56 (85%, 95% CI 74-92%) achieved morphologic complete response. Overall-survival (OS) and event-free survival (EFS) at 1-year were 69%, (95% CI 58-82%) and 49%, (95% CI 37-64%), respectively, with survival outcomes statistically comparable to remaining patients (OS; p = 0.14, EFS; p = 0.39). Notably, toxicity was increased in this cohort, warranting further study. Interestingly, of 30 patients treated for upfront refractory disease, 23 (77%, 95% CI 58-90%) had flow cytometry and/or next-generation sequencing (NGS) minimum residual disease (MRD)-only disease at the end of induction, not meeting the historic morphologic definition of refractory. Interpretation Our findings suggested that tisagenlecleucel response and survival rates overlap across patients treated with upfront refractory B-ALL, B-ALL ≥2nd relapse and B-ALL in 1st relapse. We additionally highlighted that definitions of refractory B-ALL are evolving beyond morphologic measures of residual disease. Abstract
BACKGROUND Recent advances in immune-checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have highlighted the need for effective management of immune-related adverse events (irAEs). This study aimed to conduct a systematic surveillance of real-world development of irAEs for understanding their characteristics and examine the prognostic impact of steroid use for these events. METHODS We retrospectively investigated cancer patients treated with ICIs between 2014 and 2021 and collected information about irAEs throughout their development, management, and clinical outcomes. RESULTS Overall, 458 patients (45.4%) developed 670 irAEs. The prevalence of irAEs varied by cancer type, but it was increased in regimens with longer treatment durations. Severe irAEs were more common in the nivolumab + ipilimumab and pembrolizumab + axitinib regimens. Patients who received steroids for irAEs at a dosage of < 2 mg/kg had comparable prognosis to those who did not receive steroids; however, patients who received methylprednisolone pulse therapy, primarily for severe pneumonitis and hepatitis, had shorter overall survival than those who did not receive steroids (7.8 versus 23.4 months, p = 0.016). Furthermore, methylprednisolone pulse therapy for irAEs was a poor prognostic factor in multivariate analysis (hazard ratio: 2.19, 95% confidence interval: 1.34-2.86, p < 0.001). CONCLUSION Steroid treatment for irAE does not affect prognosis and should thus be used promptly to control inflammation. However, pulse therapy for severe cases is a poor prognostic factor, and early detection remains the key to managing such irAEs. The irAE characteristics in each regimen should be clarified to establish and provide more sophisticated irAE management, and the current findings will be beneficial to this goal.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Approximately 50% of colorectal cancers occur in older patients. International societies recommend geriatric tools to optimise treatment of older patients. Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) is a multidimensional assessment used to classify patients as fit, vulnerable, or frail. The CGA-based oncological multidimensional prognostic index (onco-MPI) also classifies patients as high-, intermediate-, or low-risk based on tumour characteristics. We investigated the role of CGA and onco-MPI in older patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) in a real-world setting. METHODS Data for consecutive mCRC patients aged ≥70 years were retrieved from a prospectively maintained database from 2010 to 2020. We analyzed patients' and tumours' characteristics, and the CGA domains. Onco-MPI was calculated by a validated algorithm derived from CGA domains. Pearson's test was used to verify whether onco-MPI scores and chemotherapy administration were correlated. RESULTS The study included 488 mCRC patients with a mean age of 76.1 years. According to CGA, 52% of patients were fit, 28% vulnerable, and 20% frail. According to onco-MPI, 9% were low, 54% intermediate, and 37% high-risk. The median OS was 22.7 months. The following factors improved OS: 0-1 ECOG PS, low onco-MPI, fit based on CGA, chemotherapy administration, and doublet regimen. Chemotherapy administration significantly correlated with onco-MPI scores, leading to a survival gain regardless of the risk subgroups. First-line regimen had no impact on survival across the CGA and onco-MPI categories. CONCLUSION CGA and onco-MPI scores confirmed their prognostic impact in older mCRC patients and may aid in decision-making and subgroup stratification in dedicated trials.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE A comprehensive picture of pegvisomant use for treating acromegaly in routine clinical practice in different countries is lacking. We aimed, therefore, to document country-specific behaviors in real-life pegvisomant use, and the main safety and effectiveness outcomes in the ACROSTUDY. DESIGN ACROSTUDY is an open-label, non-interventional, post-marketing safety surveillance study. METHODS A descriptive analysis was performed using data from the six top-recruiter ACROSTUDY countries, i.e., Germany (n = 548 patients), Italy (n = 466), France (n = 312), USA (n = 207), Spain (n = 200) and the Netherlands (n = 175). These nations accounted for > 85% of the ACROSTUDY cases. RESULTS The mean pegvisomant dose at treatment start was lowest in the Netherlands (9.4 mg/day), whereas it ranged between 10.9 and 12.6 mg/day in the other countries. At year 5, the mean pegvisomant dose was around 15 mg/day in all countries, except France (18.1 mg/day). At starting pegvisomant, patients treated with monotherapy ranged between 15% in the Netherlands and 72% in Spain. Monotherapy remained lowest over time in the Netherlands. In all countries, the percentage of patients with normal IGF-1 increased steeply from < 20% at baseline to 43-58% at month 6 and 51-67% at year 1. After that, we observed minor changes in the rate of acromegaly control in all countries. The Netherlands peaked in disease control at year 2 (72%). The proportion of patients reporting changes in pituitary tumor size was generally low. Serious treatment-related adverse events were < 5% in all countries. CONCLUSIONS Our study provided a detailed summary of real-life use of pegvisomant in the six top-recruiter ACROSTUDY nations.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Achieving hypertension control is beneficial regardless of age. Fixed-combination pills have the potential of increasing adherence to treatment, improving the benefit/risk ratio, and simplifying therapy, with resulting convenience especially in the elderly. AIM We examined real-world antihypertensive treatment adherence and hypertension control rates in a cohort of Italian elderly individuals, enrolled in a prospective, pragmatic awareness-raising campaign on blood pressure (BP). METHODS 13196 treated hypertensive elderly (mean age 73.2±7.5 years, 55.5% women) were recruited through opportunistic sampling, answered a brief questionnaire on antihypertensive therapy, and were followed-up for 6 months, when BP was measured as per routine care. Controlled hypertension was defined as BP < 140/90 mmHg. Real-world treatment adherence and hypertension control rates were evaluated at 6 months according to different treatment patterns (fixed-dose versus free combinations), using Yates correction for continuity to assess likelihood estimates for differences between treatments. RESULTS 10551 participants (80%) were on a single-pill therapy and 3445 were on a fixed combination therapy of two (24.8%) or three (1.3%) drugs. Individuals on a fixed combination therapy were more adherent to treatment than the counterparts (p < 0.001). Full adherence increased with the number of drugs/pill among single-pill users (47.5%, 68.5%, and 100% with 1, 2, or 3 drugs/pill; p < 0.001). Hypertension control rates were 70% and 65.2% (p = 0.001) according to fixed or free combinations of two drugs and 71% and 63.9% (p = 0.321) for fixed or free combinations of three drugs. CONCLUSIONS Real-world data suggest that simplified treatment strategies and use of fixed combinations improve adherence to antihypertensive therapy and BP control in the elderly.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Expression of the Notch-family ligand delta-like protein 3 (DLL3), a potential therapeutic target in small cell lung cancer (SCLC), has not been assessed in the real-world setting. To identify the real-world utility of DLL3 as an SCLC therapeutic target, we performed the largest retrospective international noninterventional study to date to evaluate DLL3 prevalence in SCLC patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS DLL3 expression was assessed using immunohistochemistry in archived histological and cytological specimens (independent and paired) and correlated to patient demographics, clinical disease characteristics, and survival. The primary endpoint was the proportion of patients with DLL3 expression in ≥25 % of tumor cells. DLL3 expression concordance was assessed in paired specimens. RESULTS Independent tumor specimens were collected from 1073 patients. The mean age at biopsy was 66 years (SD, 10); 682 (64 %) patients were male. Paired specimens were collected from 36 patients. The mean age at biopsy was 62 years (SD, 11); 16 (44 %) patients were male. Most patients had ECOG performance status of 0-1, were smokers/ex-smokers, and received ≥1 prior therapy. Positive DLL3 expression (defined as ≥25 % of tumor cells) was identified in 895/1050 (85 %) patients with 1 specimen and evaluable DLL3 expression; 719/1050 (68 %) patients had high DLL3 expression (defined as ≥75 % of tumor cells). DLL3 expression concordance was 88 % between paired specimens (n = 17; Cohen's kappa P value, .9412). There was no significant difference in median overall survival from SCLC diagnosis for evaluable patients with nonmissing data based on DLL3 expression (negative DLL3 expression [n = 139], 9.5 months; positive DLL3 expression [n = 747], 9.5 months; all evaluable patients [n = 893, 9.5 months). CONCLUSION These real-world epidemiologic findings indicate that DLL3 is robustly expressed across SCLC disease stages and remains stable despite treatment, consistent with available clinical trial data. There was no prognostic role for DLL3 observed in this study for overall survival.

Abstract
This study assessed treatment patterns and healthcare resource utilization (HRU) of patients with severe aplastic anemia (SAA) with insufficient response to immunosuppressive therapy (IST). A retrospective chart review was conducted at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), United States, and Hôpital Saint-Louis (HSL), France. Eligible patients were ≥ 18 years old, diagnosed with acquired SAA between January 1, 2006, and July 31, 2016, had insufficient response to IST, and had ≥ 12 months of follow-up post-diagnosis. Overall survival (OS) was estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method. Among the 40 patients, mean age at diagnosis was 44 years and 53% were women. Median follow-up time after SAA diagnosis was 48.3 months. Ninety-five percent of patients received antithymocyte globulin (ATG) as primary therapy prior to hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT). Most common secondary SAA therapies prior to HSCT were eltrombopag (28%) and androgens (15%). Seventy-five percent of patients received HSCT. Prior to HSCT, patients received an average of 2.7 red blood cell (RBC) and 3.3 platelet transfusions per month; patients had 0.9 hospitalizations, 0.4 emergency room visits, and 12.8 office visits per year. Five-year OS was 75%, with infection as the primary cause of death. Additionally, this study provides information on the subgroup of patients receiving eltrombopag which was the most common secondary therapy. This study quantified transfusion and HRU burden associated with SAA and demonstrated high 5-year survival in a recently treated cohort.

Abstract
Introduction The goal of psoriasis (PsO) treatment is to improve quality of life by lessening the extent and severity of the disease. Traditional systemic drugs and biologic agents are used for the treatment of moderate to severe PsO and recent research emphasizes understanding patient goals and preferences for treatment, to improve overall outcomes. Methods An online survey was administered to collect data from 500 adult patients with moderate to severe PsO in the USA. Patients were required to have current or previous systemic therapy use and were excluded if aged 75 or older. Data on demographics, disease burden, treatment use, and patients’ treatment goals and expectations were collected. Descriptive and multivariate analyses examined the factors that predict treatment goals. Subgroup analyses were performed for age, gender, severity, comorbid psoriatic arthritis (PsA), location of PsO, and biologic experience. All analyses were conducted using SAS v9.4 and R v3.4. Results Of the 500 adult patients included, 71.6% reported moderate PsO. Patients had a mean (SD) score of 62.4 (23.0) for skin pain, 60.0 (26.3) for fatigue, and 6.6 (2.1) for itch on a scale of 0–100, 0–100, and 0–10 respectively. Mean (SD) score for quality of life (QoL), assessed using Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI), was 18.3 (7.3), with more than 90% having moderate/very large/extremely large effect on life. The majority of patients considered “keeping skin clear for 2–3 years” (94%), “overall relief of symptoms” (93.8%), and effective in clearing certain areas” (92.2%) as important attributes of a systemic treatment. Overall, patients expected 50% clear skin in about 2 weeks and completely clear skin in about 4 weeks. Conclusions Overall, in this study with more than 70% of patients with moderate disease, patients reported high burden of disease and impact on QoL. This study demonstrates the importance of considering patient perspectives in treatment decisions that are critical for optimizing patient outcomes. Funding Eli Lilly and Company.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Olaratumab is a humanized monoclonal antiplatelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha antibody that has been approved in combination with doxorubicin for the treatment of patients with metastatic soft tissue sarcoma (STS). The purpose of this retrospective study was to assess the clinical efficacy in STS patients treated with olaratumab in a real-world setting in Austria. METHODS Retrospectively collected longitudinal data from patients treated between November 2016 and September 2018 at 9 Austrian centers were obtained from the respective medical charts. All patients who received at least one dose of olaratumab were eligible. Parameters of most interest were response rates, progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). RESULTS Altogether 55 patients were included in the analysis. The median age was 58 years. In total, 65.5% (n = 36), 21.8% (n = 12) and 12.7% (n = 7) received olaratumab as first, second or ≥third line treatment, respectively. Olaratumab was administered either in combination with doxorubicin (81.8%, n = 45) or liposomal doxorubicin (16.4%, n = 9); one patient received olaratumab as upfront monotherapy. The median PFS and OS were 2.6 and 11.4 months, respectively. The objective response rate was 11.4% and the disease control rate was 40.9%. CONCLUSION In this real-world analysis the outcome was less pronounced compared to the results of both the phase Ib/II approval trial and the confirmatory phase III trial. The latter failed to show an improvement in OS and PFS for the doxorubicin/olaratumab combination. As such, olaratumab should not be used anymore in patients with STS.

Abstract
BACKGROUND & AIMS The effect of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) on the response to interferon-free direct-acting antiviral (DAA) therapy in patients with chronic hepatitis C (CHC) infection remains unclear. Using a systematic review and meta-analysis approach, we aimed to investigate the effect of DAA therapy on sustained virologic response (SVR) among patients with CHC and either active, inactive or no HCC. METHODS PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials were searched from 1/1/2013 to 9/24/2018. The pooled SVR rates were computed using DerSimonian-Laird random-effects models. RESULTS We included 49 studies from 15 countries, comprised of 3,341 patients with HCC and 35,701 without HCC. Overall, the pooled SVR was lower in patients with HCC than in those without HCC (89.6%, 95% CI 86.8-92.1%, I2 = 79.1% vs. 93.3%, 95% CI 91.9-94.7%, I2 = 95.0%, p = 0.0012), translating to a 4.8% (95% CI 0.2-7.4%) SVR reduction by meta-regression analysis. The largest SVR reduction (18.8%) occurred in patients with active/residual HCC vs. inactive/ablated HCC (SVR 73.1% vs. 92.6%, p = 0.002). Meanwhile, patients with HCC who received a prior liver transplant had higher SVR rates than those who did not (p <0.001). Regarding specific DAA regimens, patients with HCC treated with ledipasvir/sofosbuvir had lower SVR rates than patients without HCC (92.6%, n = 884 vs. 97.8%, n = 13,141, p = 0.026), but heterogeneity was high (I2 = 84.7%, p <0.001). The SVR rate was similar in patients with/without HCC who were treated with ombitasvir/paritaprevir/ritonavir ± dasabuvir (n = 101) (97.2% vs. 94.8%, p = 0.79), or daclatasvir/asunaprevir (91.7% vs. 89.8%, p = 0.66). CONCLUSION Overall, SVR rates were lower in patients with HCC, especially with active HCC, compared to those without HCC, though heterogeneity was high. Continued efforts are needed to aggressively screen, diagnose, and treat HCC to ensure higher CHC cure rates. LAY SUMMARY There are now medications (direct-acting antivirals or "DAAs") that can "cure" hepatitis C virus, but patients with hepatitis C and liver cancer may be less likely to achieve cure than those without liver cancer. However, patients with liver cancer are also more likely to have advanced liver disease and risk factors that can decrease cure rates, so better controlled studies are needed to confirm these findings.

Abstract
Introduction Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common neurodegenerative form of dementia. Pharmacological therapies for symptomatic treatment, such as acetylcholinesterase inhibitors (AChEIs) and memantine, have been available in the USA since 2000. Over the past decade, few studies have analyzed real-world anti-dementia treatment patterns in the USA. This study evaluated monotherapy AChEIs and memantine treatment patterns among newly diagnosed AD patients. Methods A retrospective cohort study was conducted using Medicare data and the Minimum Data Set from 2008 to 2012. Patients aged 65–100 years with newly diagnosed AD (ICD-9 code: 331.0) and monotherapy AChEI or memantine treatment initiated after diagnosis were included. Descriptive treatment pattern analyses, including discontinuation and switch, were undertaken. Kaplan–Meier curves were developed to examine the treatment duration. Results A total of 9812 newly diagnosed AD patients were identified, with 56.7% (n = 5567) first receiving anti-dementia treatment after the initial AD diagnosis. Among patients initiating monotherapy AChEIs or memantine after AD diagnosis (N = 5200), 51.6% continued index treatment during the entire follow-up period (mean follow-up: 659.7 days) and 21.7% discontinued treatment. Of those who initiated monotherapy treatment with an AChEI, 11.1% received adjunct therapy with memantine. Among patients with ≥1 year of continuous treatment (mean follow-up: 834 days), 75.6% remained on the index drug, 10.2% discontinued during the remaining follow-up period, and 9.5% of the AD patients initiating AChEIs received adjunct memantine therapy during the remaining follow-up period. Conclusion In the USA Medicare population, about 50% of the patients who initiated treatment with AChEI or memantine after diagnosis continued the index treatment, and more than 20% discontinued and were untreated afterwards over the observation period. AD patients initiating AChEIs or memantine were more likely to remain on their treatment if they were persistently treated for the first year.
