Abstract
Bladder leiomyomas are uncommon benign soft tissue neoplasms of the bladder, frequently observed in women. Diagnosis often happens incidentally during ultrasonography, with symptoms varying based on tumour size and location. Here, we present a case of a 57-year-old woman with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus, successfully treated for bladder leiomyoma through transurethral resection and laparoscopic partial cystectomy. This case highlights the significance of early detection and timely intervention in optimizing patient outcomes for bladder leiomyoma.

Abstract
Schwannomas are not uncommon in the maxillofacial region; however, those with intraoral localization and, in particular, the hard palate are among the least frequently described. In the current case report, we present a 17-year-old girl with a histologically verified schwannoma of the hard palate on the right, originating from the right greater palatine nerve. In her case, despite the lysis of the palatine bone from the tumor compression, the disease is asymptomatic, causing only a weak sensation of local discomfort. The lesion was removed surgically under general anesthesia and the resulting defect of the palatal mucosa was compensated by plastic reconstruction with a lingual mucosal flap on a posterior feeding base. The recovery period was uneventful.

Abstract
Solitary fibrous tumors of the pleura (SFTPs) are rare and typically benign neoplasms with limited reported cases. Despite their initial characterization as a pleura-based lesion, these neoplasms can occur in various anatomical locations. These tumors can present with paraneoplastic syndromes and have potential malignant transformations. Herein, we report a case of a 47-year-old female presenting with chest pain, cough, and weakness who was subsequently diagnosed with a benign SFTP. The patient required surgical intervention and underwent a wedge resection via video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery. The patient's recovery was uneventful, demonstrating effective management.

Abstract
Superficial acral fibromyxoma, also known as digital fibromyxoma, is a slow-growing, benign, solitary soft tissue tumor. First described in 2001 by Fetsch et al., it is a condition that often occurs in middle-aged individuals. However, it has also been reported across a wide range of ages, ranging from 4 to 86 years, with males more commonly reported. The condition often presents as solitary soft tissue swelling over the periungual or subungual. We present the management experience of the rare presentation of this rare tumor and a detailed review of the past literature on this condition. Detailed management of the condition has been described, along with the outcome after 2 years of follow-up and treatment experience. Our detailed analysis shows that 2 years is the shortest duration of follow-up to rule out recurrence. Hence, most of the cases reported earlier had given the false sense of the recurrence rate of the tumor, which could lead to undertreatment of the condition. The purpose of this article is to allow the readers to understand better the tumor's characteristics with bone involvement and the tumor's diagnostic strategies and treatment options.

Abstract
Cutaneous neurofibromas (cNFs) are characteristic of neurofibromatosis 1 (NF1), yet their immune microenvironment is incompletely known. A total of 61 cNFs from 10 patients with NF1 were immunolabeled for different types of T cells and macrophages, and the cell densities were correlated with clinical characteristics. Eight cNFs and their overlying skin were analyzed for T cell receptor CDR domain sequences, and mass spectrometry of 15 cNFs and the overlying skin was performed to study immune-related processes. Intratumoral T cells were detected in all cNFs. Tumors from individuals younger than the median age of the study participants (33 years), growing tumors, and tumors smaller than the data set median showed increased T cell density. Most samples displayed intratumoral or peritumoral aggregations of CD3-positive cells. T cell receptor sequencing demonstrated that the skin and cNFs host distinct T cell populations, whereas no dominant cNF-specific T cell clones were detected. Unique T cell clones were fewer in cNFs than in skin, and mass spectrometry suggested lower expression of proteins related to T cell-mediated immunity in cNFs than in skin. CD163-positive cells, suggestive of M2 macrophages, were abundant in cNFs. Human cNFs have substantial T cell and macrophage populations that may be tumor-specific.

Abstract
Lipomas are one of the most common, benign, slow-growing tumours composed of adipose (fat) tissue. These soft, rubbery lumps are usually painless and move easily when touched. Lipomas are generally small, ranging from less than an inch to a few inches in diameter. However, when a lipoma grows to a size larger than 10 cm (about 4 in), it is referred to as a giant lipoma. Only about 1% of all lipomas can be called "giant". Though usually they are benign, in the case of a very large lipoma it is essential to rule out the possibility of malignancy before embarking on its surgical treatment. Lipomas can occur anywhere in the body, but they are most commonly found on the neck, shoulders, back, abdomen, arms, or thighs. Here, we present a case of a 42-year-old woman with a giant lipoma over her left scapula.

Abstract
Soft tissue angiofibroma is a pathology consisting of a benign fibrous vascularized tumor that mimics low-grade sarcoma. Such tumors frequently arise in the extremities, more commonly in the lower extremities, presenting as a slow-growing, painless swelling. Females are more commonly affected than males. We present the case of a 42-year-old male with a slow-growing, painless mass on the extensor aspect of his left foot. Differential diagnoses considered were soft tissue fibrosarcoma, liposarcoma, and sebaceous cysts. Surgical excision of the tumor was done, and upon histopathology, there were multiple lobules with well-circumscribed, alternating areas of collagenous and myxoid tissues. There was a prominent small vascular network with uniformly arranged spindle cells consisting of pale eosinophil-rich cytoplasm and small ovoid nuclei, fine chromatin, and an indistinct nucleolus. There are not many reported cases of this clinical entity, and every new case reported brings light to the pathology and progression of this tumor. Understanding this pathology is necessary since it mimics many other skin and soft tissue tumors.

Abstract
Enchondromas are common benign bone tumors, usually presenting in the hand. They can cause symptoms such as swelling and pain but often go un-noticed. If the tumor expands, it can diminish the bone cortices and predispose the bone to fracture. Diagnosis is based on clinical investigation and radiographic imaging. Despite their typical appearance on radiographs, they can primarily be misdiagnosed or go totally unrecognized in the acute trauma setting. Earlier applications of deep learning models to image classification and pattern recognition suggest that this technique may also be utilized in detecting enchondroma in hand radiographs. We trained a deep learning model with 414 enchondroma radiographs to detect enchondroma from hand radiographs. A separate test set of 131 radiographs (47% with an enchondroma) was used to assess the performance of the trained deep learning model. Enchondroma annotation by three clinical experts served as our ground truth in assessing the deep learning model's performance. Our deep learning model detected 56 enchondromas from the 62 enchondroma radiographs. The area under receiver operator curve was 0.95. The F1 score for area statistical overlapping was 69.5%. Our deep learning model may be a useful tool for radiograph screening and raising suspicion of enchondroma.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Mass lesions occurring under the oral mucosal epithelium are often small and difficult to diagnose; however, intraoral ultrasonography can delineate these lesions. We aimed to investigate the features of submucosal mass lesions in the oral cavity using intraoral ultrasonography. METHODS Fifty patients with hemangioma, irritation fibroma, mucous cyst, lipoma, and pleomorphic adenoma were included. Age, site, largest diameter, thickness, marginal morphology type, border type, internal echo posterior echo, and internal or peripheral Doppler images of the lesions were recorded. RESULTS The hemangiomas were internally hypoechoic and exhibited a cord-like structure; irritation fibromas, mainly internally isoechoic; mucous cysts, hypoechoic; and the lipomas appeared as homogeneous, isoechoic, or hyperechoic images with unclear borders. Pleomorphic adenomas were surrounded by a single hypoechoic zone, suggesting a thick capsular structure, were predominantly isoechoic internally, and appeared as cyst-like hypoechoic images. CONCLUSIONS The features of the lesions were identified and delineated using intraoral ultrasonography.

Abstract
Pyogenic granuloma is a non-neoplastic inflammatory reactive hyperplasia commonly found on keratinized tissues caused by different factors such as hormonal imbalance. Pyogenic granuloma has a wide age range and is frequently found in females in the second to third decade. Pyogenic granuloma developed in pregnancy is commonly known as pregnancy tumor. The standard treatment approach is surgical excision of the lesion. In the case report, a 42-year-old female presented with a persistent oral lesion in the left anterior mandible. The lesion first appeared during pregnancy and remained in the oral cavity for two years after delivery. Clinical, radiographic, and histopathological examination revealed a definitive diagnosis of pyogenic granuloma.

Abstract
An intratendinous ganglion cyst is a very rare benign lesion with an unknown etiology. The clinical diagnosis can be difficult as patients may have mild symptoms or impaired hand functionality. Ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging can differentiate a ganglion cyst from other soft-tissue tumors and tumor-like lesions and provide excellent information on the location of an intratendinous lesion to schedule surgical treatment. We present a case report of a 50-year-old female diagnosed with an intratendinous ganglion cyst of the extensor indicis. She complained of right-hand swelling for three months, which was associated with pain. The US revealed an oval hypoechoic mass with cystic formation at the extensor indicis, measuring 9 x 4 mm, compatible with an intratendinous ganglion cyst. The cyst was excised by enucleation. After surgery, the patient was referred to the Department of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine for evaluation. She started a rehabilitation programme. The patient presented a favourable clinical evolution with a return to her previous professional activity. However, six months after surgery, the cyst recurred, but with a smaller size and no associated pain.

Abstract
Paragangliomas are rare neuroendocrine tumors that arise from the extra-adrenal autonomic paraganglia, i.e., small organs consisting mainly of neuroendocrine cells that are derived from the embryonic neural crest and have the ability to secrete catecholamines. Paragangliomas can derive from either parasympathetic or sympathetic paraganglia. Most of the parasympathetic ganglia-derived paragangliomas are nonfunctional, and symptoms result from mass effect. Conversely, the sympathetic paragangliomas are functional and produce catecholamine. Although such patients could have symptoms similar to pheochromocytoma, mass effect symptoms, or non-specific symptoms, being benign tumors, they can also present with anemia, specifically iron-deficiency anemia. Considering that neoplastic pathology is chronically accompanied by moderate, normochromic, normocytic anemia, association between paragangliomas that are mostly benign but with a potential degree of malignancy and anemia is not as frequent as expected, with only 12 cases reported in the literature. We report a case of a 54-year-old female patient diagnosed with a paraganglioma of the carotid glomus accompanied by severe normochromic, normocytic anemia, which reached normal limits after excision of the paraganglioma.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer deaths in women. Early diagnosis offers the best hope for a cure. Ductal carcinoma in situ is considered a precursor of invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast. In this study, we carried out microRNA sequencing from 7 ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), 6 infiltrating ductal carcinomas (IDC Stage IIA) with paired normal, and 5 unpaired normal breast tissue samples. We identified 76 miRNAs that were differentially expressed in DCIS and IDC. METHODS Additionally, we provide preliminary evidence of miR-365b-3p and miR-7-1-3p being overexpressed, and miR-6507-5p, miR-487b-3p, and miR-654-3p being downregulated in DCIS relative to normal breast tissue. We also identified a miRNA miR-766-3p that was overexpressed in early-stage IDCs. The overexpression of miR-301a-3p in DCIS and IDC was confirmed in 32 independent breast cancer tissue samples. RESULTS Higher expression of miR-301a-3p is associated with poor overall survival in The Can-cer Genome Atlas Breast Cancer (TCGA-BRCA) dataset, indicating that it may be associated with DCIS at high risk of progressing to IDC and warrants deeper investigation. CONCLUSION We also analyzed competing endogenous networks associated with differentially expressed miRNAs and identified LRRC75A-AS1 and MAGI2-AS3 as lncRNAs that potentially play an important role in early-stage breast cancers.

Abstract
Ameloblastic fibro-odontoma (AFO) is a rare, slow-growing neoplastic lesion classified as a benign, epithelial mixed odontogenic tumor with odontogenic mesenchyme. This tumor demonstrates the histological features characteristic of both ameloblastic fibromas and complex odontomas. The clinical manifestation of AFO is typically characterized by asymptomatic enlargement of the jawbones. Radiographically, it presents as a distinct radiolucent region, indicating the presence of radiopaque substances with varying degrees of irregularities in size and morphology. Standard therapeutic intervention involves enucleation. Despite its benign nature, AFO can cause significant morbidity if left untreated. Therefore, prompt diagnosis and appropriate management are essential to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The following case report details the clinical presentation and management of an 18-year-old male with an AFO lesion located in the posterior mandible. This particular case was treated with conservative measures involving surgical enucleation.

Abstract
RATIONALE Retinal astrocytic hamartoma (RAH) is a rare benign tumor originating from astrocytic cells located in the neural cell layer of the retina. It is commonly seen in patients with phakomatoses such as tuberous sclerosis complex or neurofibromatosis, rarely as an isolated retinal mass. This lesion is usually asymptomatic; however, these located in the area of the optic nerve, macula, or exhibiting the features of exudation, neovascularization may present visual disturbances and decreased visual acuity. PATIENT CONCERNS We present a rare case of a 15-year-old boy, with no significant past medical history, whose cause of visual disturbances turned out to be isolated RAH. DIAGNOSES Based on the results of color images of the fundus, fluorescein angiography as well as the analysis of magnetic resonance imaging, the patient was diagnosed with RAH. INTERVENTIONS Additionally an B-scan ultrasonography, static and kinetic perimetry were performed. OUTCOMES Fundoscopic examination showed a unilateral yellowish, well-circumscribed, mulberry-like lesion with a wide base, located in inferosnasal quadrant, in the vinicity of the optic nerve. The patient underwent neurological, pediatric, and genetic evaluations that excluded other pathological findings or underlying systemic disease. LESSONS The prognosis for RAH is generally good, however, the lesion requires regular ophthalmologic follow-up to rule out the progression of the tumor mass. The patient 7-year follow-up history is without evidence of tumor growth, local or general deterioration of the condition.

Abstract
Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumors (IMTs) are uncommon tumors that can be classified among fibroinflammatory disorders. IMTs are diagnosed after excluding all other entities, which can be considered differential diagnoses of IMTs. Microscopic examination of IMTs shows multiple myofibroblastic spindle cells, which are surrounded by inflammation. IMTs have lesser chances of progression to malignancy. The case defined below is one of the few cases in the literature that reports the presentation of IMT and another malignancy. We describe a 72-year-old man who was found to have cecal carcinoma and later diagnosed with an IMT of the testis. IMTs are generally benign tumors with a tendency for local recurrence. Patients affected by IMTs usually get diagnosed only after more than one biopsy. IMT is diagnosed only after ruling out other differential diagnoses. They rarely show invasiveness and metastasize. The presence of metastasis, recurrence, and other malignancies probably indicate poor prognosis and poor survival. The course of IMTs is usually benign, with good outcomes after surgery. IMTs have been known to recur, invade, or metastasize in sites such as paranasal sinuses, mediastinum, and the abdomen. In the case that we researched, vimentin and smooth muscle actin were strongly positive in the spindle-shaped cells, whereas anaplastic lymphoma kinase-1 was negative.

Abstract
Introduction Schwannomas are rare benign tumors of the nerve sheath that originate from the Schwann cells of the peripheral nerve and have a broad anatomic distribution that includes superficial tissues, deep tissues, including the central nervous system, and the gastrointestinal system. Case Report A 60-year-old male presented with left knee pain for 5 years. This pain was associated with paresthesia, night pain unresponsive to analgesia, on the left foot intermittent pins and needles sensation. Schwannoma lesion was excised, histology confirmed the diagnosis, and the patient's symptoms improved. Conclusion Schwannoma around the knee is a rare or atypical cause of the non-arthritic pain and should be considered in the differential diagnosis of non-arthritic and extra-articular causes of knee pain with neurological deficit of the foot in an adult population.

Abstract
Introduction Synovial chondromatosis is a rare non- malignant bone tumor. Most commonly middle aged people are affected . This condition most commonly occurs in knee joints, and rarely, it may occur in other joints. Patient usually complaints of pain, swelling and restrictions of movements at the affected joint. Diagnosis is made through thorough clinical examination and Radiological investigation. Condition is treated with open synovectomy with the removal of loose bodies. If not treated in time the patient might develop early osteoarthritic changes and rarely develop into malignancy in few cases. Case Report A 43 year old female came with complaints of pain and stiffness over the right elbow which aggravates on movements without alleged history of trauma. The patient was diagnosed with synovial chondromatosis after appropriate radiological investigation. The patient underwent open synovectomy and post operatively adequate physiotherapy was initiated at the operated elbow. After 6 months of follow-up, the patient improved clinically and functionally. Conclusion Synovial chondromatosis of the elbow is a rare benign orthopedic condition that appears as multiple hyaline cartilage nodules within sub synovial connective tissue. Complete excision of synovium is necessary to prevent the recurrence and for better clinical outcome.

Abstract
Chorioangioma is a benign placental neoplasm seen in about one percent of all pregnancies. The larger neoplasms generally cause severe foeto-maternal complications. We are reporting a case of a 33-year-old gravida three para two female who was incidentally diagnosed with chorioangioma at her routine 28-week antenatal follow-up. She delivered a preterm small-for-gestational-age female baby at 34 weeks with complications. Therefore, an early diagnosis warrants a close follow-up and timely intervention for a better outcome of the pregnancy.

Abstract
Laparoscopic cholecystectomy has been found to be associated with the development of traumatic neuromas on rare occasions. The present study reports a rare case of post-cholecystectomy biliary tree traumatic neuroma. Herein, a 47-year-old female with a history of laparoscopic cholecystectomy presented with upper abdominal pain and anorexia. Upon an examination, a yellow discoloration of the sclera was observed. Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography revealed a dilated proximal bile duct and mild dilatation of the intrahepatic biliary tree due to a stricture. Intraoperatively, a hard bile duct mass was observed with multiple enlarged lymph nodes in the peri-hepatic region. The patient was initially suspected to have bile duct cancer; however, a histopathological analysis of the resected mass revealed a bile duct traumatic neuroma. Biliary traumatic neuromas may be underestimated since they often remain asymptomatic. It is unfortunate that, as traumatic neuromas often lack distinguishing characteristics, no particular radiological findings for traumatic neuromas of the bile duct have been described to date, at least to the best of our knowledge. The rarity of this condition, combined with the absence of a standardized diagnostic modality, renders its diagnosis difficult and can even lead to misdiagnosis as biliary cancer.

Abstract
Elastofibroma dorsi (EFD) is an uncommon benign tumor of mesenchymal origin that usually occurs in the subscapular region. Bilateral and triple EFD are frequently reported in the literature but cases with more lesions have never been described. Our patient is a 50-year-old female with quadruple locations of bilateral suprascapular and subscapular EFD who presented with left shoulder pain and swelling over the affected area. Clinical presentation, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and biopsy were consistent with EFD. Therapeutic excision was performed and successfully alleviated the patient's discomfort. This report presents the first case of quadruple locations of EFD and highlights the value of MRI in the diagnosis of EFD, especially when there are multiple masses with indistinct margins are deeply located in the chest wall.

Abstract
Cemento-ossifying fibroma (COF) is a benign odontogenic neoplasm. It is considered an ossifying fibroma with traces of interspersed cementum fragments. Here we present a case report of the occurrence of COF in the maxillary anterior region of an elderly woman. A 61-year-old female reported with a painless, progressive, slow-growing swelling on the upper front jaw region for the past five years. A single, localized, swelling on the anterior region of the maxilla which was non-tender and bony hard in consistency. Radiological examination consisting of orthopantomagram (OPG) and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) revealed increased thickness of bone over frontal, parietal and maxilla with alteration of trabecular pattern - cotton wool/ground glass. Serum alkaline phosphatase level was found to be 865 U/l, however, serum calcium level and other routine blood investigations (hemogram) were within normal limits. The above radiological and laboratory findings are more in favour of primary bone pathology and with a biopsy later correlating with histopathological findings; it was diagnosed as COF. Under conscious sedation, surgical excision of the bony mass was done along with extraction of associated teeth. The patient is currently on regular follow-up and planning for a dental prosthesis is in progress.

Abstract
Purpose The purpose of this study is to describe the clinicopathologic characteristics of ocular surface and orbit tumors in the Southeast of China and explore the method to differentiate the benign and malignant masses. Materials and methods 3468 patients undergoing mass resection from January 2015 to December 2020 were selected as observation subjects and were classified into benign and malignant masses according to postoperative pathology. The clinicopathologic characteristics were collected, including gender, age, pathological tissue signs, and pathological signs. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis of independent risk factors of malignant mass was applied to establish a diagnostic model and the efficacy was evaluated by the subject working characteristics (ROC) curve. Results Benign tumors accounted for 91.5% of all cases, and malignant tumors accounted for 8.5%. The most common ocular benign tumors were nevi (24.2%), granuloma (17.1%), and cysts (16.4%). The most common ocular malignant tumors were malignant lymphoma (32.1%) and Basal cell carcinoma (20.2%). As for the histologic origin, melanocytic origin was on the list with 819 (23.6%), mesenchymal 661 (19.1%), epithelial 568 (16.3%), cystic 521 (15.0%), skin adnexal 110 (3.1%), lymphoid 94 (2.8%), and Neural 25(0.8%). Based on the gender, age, tumor location, and the pathological tissue image feature (including differentiation, structural atypia, covering epithelial, keratosis, nest structure/distribution, nuclear atypia, cytoplasmic change and nuclear division), the diagnostic model had predictive value to differentiate the benign and malignant masses. Conclusion Most ocular surface and orbit tumors are benign. Tumor diagnosis is relative to the patient's age, gender, tumor location, and pathologic characteristics. We generated a satisfactory diagnostic model to differential diagnosis of benign and malignant masses.

Abstract
(1) Background: Osteoid osteoma (OO) is one of the most common benign bone tumors. This type of osteogenic tumor is generally characterized by a well-defined lytic area with a vascularized central nidus surrounded by sclerosis and bone thickening. The wrist and hand bones are infrequent sites for osteoid osteoma: only 10% of the cases arise in these areas. Standard treatments are surgical excision and radio-frequency ablation (RFA), both with advantages and disadvantages. This study aimed to compare the two techniques to prove if RFA could be a potential alternative to surgery in the treatment of OO of the hand. (2) Methods: Patients treated for OO of the hand between January 2011 and December 2020 were evaluated and data was collected regarding the lesions' characteristics and the treatment outcome. Each patient was followed up for 24 months and VAS pain (Visual Analogue Scale), DASH (Disability of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand), and PRWE (Patient-Related Wrist Evaluation) scores were collected. (3) Results: A total of 27 patients were included in the study: 19 surgical and 8 RFA. Both treatments showed a significant improvement in pain and functionality. Surgery was associated with a higher complication rate (stiffness and pain), while RFA was associated with a higher recurrence rate (2/8 patients). RFA allowed for a speedier return to work. (4) Conclusions: We believe that osteoid osteoma treatment with RFA in the hand should be an available alternative to surgery as it allows rapid pain relief and a swift return to work. Surgery should be reserved for cases of diagnostic uncertainty or periosteal localization.

Abstract
Introduction Lipoma arborescens (LAs) is a benign, intra-articular proliferation of fat cells in villous projections, creating a tree-like pattern on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The suprapatellar pouch is usually affected, and symptoms are typically gradual in nature, and patients may report painless swelling of the knee. Only ten cases of bilateral LA have been reported in the literature so far. Early recognition of this disease process and treatment may help to prevent prolonged symptoms and delays in care. Case Report A 49-year-old female with bilateral knee pain and intermittent swelling for over 20 years presented to our clinic with complaints of bilateral knee pain and swelling. She had previous steroid injection but no relief. After MRI was obtained concerning for LA, a surgical discussion was had with the patient about arthroscopic removal. She elected to proceed with surgery and underwent arthroscopic debridement of both knees. At her follow-up at 6 months for the right knee and 2 months for the left knee, she had a significant improvement in pain and quality of life. Conclusion LA of the knee is a rare condition, particularly bilateral, and in this patient, the diagnosis was missed for many years, and her definitive treatment was delayed. In her case, arthroscopic debridement of her bilateral LA proved to be a viable treatment option which significantly improved the patient's quality of life and function.

Abstract
Key Clinical Message Intramuscular myxoma (IMM) is a benign soft tissue tumor of mesenchymal origin that occurs mainly in skeletal muscles which can be removed through surgery after diagnosis. Abstract Intramuscular myxoma (IMM) is a benign soft tissue tumor of mesenchymal origin that typically occurs in skeletal muscles. Its diagnosis is based on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and histopathologic evaluation of the lesion. In our report, we describe the case of a 60-year-old female with an IMM in the supinator muscle of the right forearm, which was confirmed by MRI and histopathologic examination. Following surgery to remove the mass, a follow-up confirmed the patient's recovery and the absence of movement limitations in the elbow joint.

Abstract
Schwannomas account for a large proportion of tumors in the head and neck regions; however, schwannomas of the larynx are rare. An 11-year-old boy had a sore throat for one month, and his symptoms gradually worsened such that he needed to visit our otolaryngology clinic. The preoperative investigation revealed a smooth mass in the left arytenoid cartilage. Endoscopy-assisted transoral resection of laryngeal masses was performed under general anesthesia, and the resected tissue was histopathologically diagnosed as a laryngeal schwannoma. The postoperative recovery was very good. During the 1-year follow-up, there was no recurrence of the schwannoma or related symptoms. Although laryngeal schwannomas are rare, they should be considered in the differential diagnosis of these tumors. Sufficient preoperative imaging should be performed before surgical resection, and surgery is the preferred treatment option.

Abstract
Angioleiomyomas are smooth muscle masses originating from blood vessel tunica media. This is a rare tumor, comprising less than 1% of benign sinonasal cavity tumors. Failure to recognize and surgically excise nasal angioleiomyomas can result in lesion recurrence. We present 2 new cases of nasal septum angioleiomyoma at a single institution. Additionally, both cases underwent septal and nasal surgery. Due to the nonspecific clinical and imaging findings, a high index of suspicion is needed to diagnose nasal septum angioleiomyoma, often requiring histopathological verification. Preferred treatment is complete surgical excision. From our experience, concurrent corrective septal and sinus surgery can be completed with tumors less than 1.0 cm in size.

Abstract
Background An increased risk of gallstones has been observed in patients undergoing hepatectomy. This study attempted to analyze the risk factors for gallstones after hepatectomy. Methods From January 2013 to December 2016, clinical data of 1,452 eligible patients who underwent hepatectomy were consecutively reviewed. According to the imaging, including gallbladder ultrasound, computerized tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging, all patients were divided into the gallstone group and the nongallstone group. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to select indicators associated with gallstone formation among patients after hepatectomy. Results In the total sample of included patients, there were 341 patients with gallstones and 1,147 patients without gallstones. The incidence of gallstones was 23.5% (341/1,452). The incidence of gallstones in the primary liver cancer group was higher than that in the benign liver tumor group (25.7% vs. 18.9%, P = 0.004). Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses showed that female gender, high body mass index, tumor located in S5, and severe postoperative complication were factors related to gallstones in patients with benign liver tumors after hepatectomy. In addition, Child-Pugh B, low albumin, liver cirrhosis, and transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) after recurrence were factors related to gallstones in patients with primary liver cancer after hepatectomy. Conclusions Hepatectomy increased the risk of gallstones in benign or malignant liver tumors, especially when the tumor was located in S5. TACE further increased the risk of gallstones in patients with postoperative recurrence.

Abstract
Brunner gland hamartoma (BGH) is a rare condition that requires a high clinical suspicion to diagnose. Large hamartomas may initially present with iron deficiency anemia (IDA) or symptoms suggesting intestinal obstruction. Barium swallow may demonstrate the lesion, but endoscopic evaluation is the acceptable first line management unless a concern for underlying malignancy. The present case report and literature review highlight the uncommon presentations and endoscopic role in large BGHs management. Internists should consider BGH in their differential, especially in patient with occult bleeding, IDA, or obstruction, which can be treated with endoscopic resection of large sized tumors by trained experts.

Abstract
Craniopharyngiomas (CP) are rare noncancerous brain tumors located in the skull base. To date, CP remain challenging-to-resect tumors, owing to their difficult location and invasive potential, with profound adverse effects for the patient if left to grow. Indeed, gross total resection may also be accompanied by unwelcome sequalae, underscoring the need for continued investigation. In the present work, we provide a scoping review of current CP management, with emphasis on our knowledge of their genesis, available treatment options, post-intervention clinical outcomes. Leading theories of CP development are (1) the embryonic theory, explaining the development of adamantinomatous CP from epithelial remnants of Rathke's pouch and (2) the metaplastic theory, which describes papillary CP development as a result of adenohypophyseal cell metaplasia. Treatment may include surgery, intracystic therapy, or irradiation depending on tumor size, history and location. However, whether a single ideal approach and timing for CP intervention exists remains debated. We appraise and critique these areas with priority for emerging basic results and innovation.

Abstract
Introduction Osteoid osteoma is a common benign bone tumor affecting young adults with the typical clinical and radiological presentation when arising from common locations. However, when they arise from unusual locations like intra-articular regions the diagnosis may be confusing thereby leading to delay in diagnosis and appropriate management. Here we present a case with an intra-articular osteoid osteoma of the hip involving the anterolateral quadrant of the femoral head. Case Report An active 24-year-old man, with no relevant or significant medical history presented with progressive left hip pain radiating to the thigh for the past 1 year. There was no significant history of trauma. His initial symptoms were dull aching groin pain which worsened over weeks, associated with night cries, and loss of weight and appetite. Conclusion The unusual site of presentation led to a diagnostic challenge and caused a delay in diagnosis. Computed tomography scan is the gold standard to detect osteoid osteoma and radiofrequency ablation can be used as a reliable and safe modality of the treatment for intra-articular lesions.

Abstract
Neurogenic tumors located in the larynx are extremely rare. Among them, schwannoma is a
benign encapsulated tumor originating from Schwann cells, which form nerve fiber sheaths
in the peripheral nervous system. We herein report a case of a schwannoma arising from a
rare subsite of the larynx and review the literature on laryngeal schwannoma. The case
involved a woman with a 1-month history of globus pharyngeus and dysphagia without
dysphonia. Rigid laryngoscopy and magnetic resonance imaging showed a large submucosal
bulge toward the medial wall of the right pyriform fossa, pushing the right false and true
vocal cords and aryepiglottic fold inward. A transcervical approach was used to completely
excise the tumor without incisional biopsy or preliminary tracheotomy. Histology confirmed
a benign schwannoma originating from the right paraglottic space, which was extremely
rare. During follow-up, no evidence of recurrence or a residual mass was found. The
transcervical approach is a useful and less invasive treatment for laryngeal schwannoma
located in the paraglottic space.

Abstract
Lipoma is the most common mesenchymal tumor seen in the trunk and extremities. It is rarely found in the mouth. Clinically, it resembles other lesions and is not considered in the initial diagnosis. Histopathological evaluation is needed for accurate diagnosis. Surgical excision is the main treatment modality. Histologically, many variants are described of which fibrolipoma is thought to have some recurrence. This article describes a case of fibrolipoma of the buccal mucosa in a geriatric patient.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Postoperative sialoceles and fistulas are frequent surgical complications of parotid tumor resection. Extracapsular dissection by the sternocleidomastoid muscle-parotid space approach (ECD-SMPSA) is a minimally invasive technique. To our knowledge, the characteristics of sialoceles and fistulas secondary to ECD-SMPSA have not been reported. METHODS This prospective study enrolled 52 patients who underwent ECD-SMPSA without sialocele/fistula prevention measures. Postoperative sialoceles and fistulas were evaluated during 2 months of follow-up. RESULTS Among the 52 patients, only one male patient developed a mild sialocele. No salivary fistulas occurred. The overall rate of sialocele/fistula formation was 1.92%. CONCLUSIONS When treating clinically benign tumors that involve the sternocleidomastoid muscle-parotid space, ECD-SMPSA may prevent postoperative formation of sialoceles and salivary fistulas.

Abstract
Introduction: Intussusception represents a rare form of bowel obstruction in the adult, which is defined as the telescoping of a proximal segment of the gastrointestinal tract into the lumen of the adjacent distal segment of the GI tract Case Report: We report the case of a 50-year-old woman was admitted in our hospital with acute bowel obstruction. CT showed intestinal occlusion secondary to intussusception. the patient underwent emergency surgery. Surgery confirmed intussusception at the level of the distal ileum (about 30 cm from the ileocecal valve) due to a 3-4 oval mass of hard consistency that appeared to be suspicious for GIST. Was performed a resection of the ileal segment involved associated with oncologically radical lymphadenectomy. The histological examination reported benign ileal mesenchymal neoformation compatible with inflammatory fibroid polyp. Patient had a regular course Discussion: In adults, 90% of invaginations manifest as a result of an organic lesion caused by benign or malignant tumors. The clinical presentation in adults is generally chronic or nonspecific. The emergence of acute symptoms due to complete intestinal obstruction occours in fewer than 20% of patients. Abdominal computed tomography (CT) is the most sensitive radiologic method to confirm intussusception. As many cases are secondary to organic pathologies with malignant potential, surgical resection of the affected bowel segment with oncological procedures is the primary method of treatment Conclusion: Due to the fact that adult intussusception is often frequently associated with organic lesions, surgical intervention is necessary. Treatment usually requires formal resection of the involved bowel segment. (www.actabiomedica.it).

Abstract
There are a number of benign tumors of the nose and pharynx that are seldomly reported in literature but that can sometimes prove difficult to treat and extremely important for differential diagnosis. The present study presents cases of rare benign tumors localized in the pharynx, nasal and sinus cavities, as well as reviews of literature and historical references for each type of tumor. Unilateral nasal hemangioma in a 72-year-old male which, although not a rare pathology, raised problems due to auto-resection of the tumor. The surgeon was able to pull it out with ease without bleeding; it is possible that the mass would have eventually fallen out. Pilomatrixoma is a relatively uncommon ectodermal benign tumor of the skin derived from hair matrix cells. Surgical resection is curative but recurrence is possible (≤5% risk). The presented case is of a 26-year-old female with a pilomatrixoma of the left cheek who, for aesthetic reasons, refused a classical external surgical approach. Trans-oral resection was performed, which proved feasible but laborious and prone to recurrence. Inverted Schneiderian papilloma is a rare benign tumor of the nasal and sinus cavities with increased potential for invasion, recurrence and malignant transformation compared with other types of papilloma and other benign tumors of the area. The tumor represents 0.5-4.0% of all nasal tumors and has been described under different names, such as villiform cancer and cylindrical/transitional papilloma. The present study reports a rare case of bilateral papilloma in a 68-year-old male. He presented with bilateral evolving nasal obstruction and hyposmia. Following surgery, the patient was treated by a multidisciplinary team and followed by a respiratory rehabilitation program.

Abstract
The aim of this study is to identify urinary metabolomic profile of benign and malign ovarian tumors patients. Samples were analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and metabolomic tools to define biomarkers that cause differentiation between groups. 7 metabolites were found to be different in patients with ovarian cancer (OC) and benign tumors (BT). R2Y and Q2 values were found to be 0.670 and 0.459, respectively. L-tyrosine, glycine, stearic acid, turanose and L-threonine metabolites were defined as prominent biomarkers. The sensitivity of the model was calculated as 90.72% and the specificity as 82.09%. In the pathway analysis, glutathione metabolism, aminoacyl-tRNA biosynthesis, glycine serine and threonine metabolic pathway, primary bile acid biosynthesis pathways were found to be important. According to the t-test, 29 metabolites were found to be significant in urine samples of OC patients and healthy controls (HC). R2Y and Q2 values were found to be 0.8170 and 0.749, respectively. These results showed that the model has high compatibility and predictive power. Benzoic acid, L-threonine, L-pyroglutamic acid, creatinine and 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid metabolites were determined as prominent biomarkers. The sensitivity of the model was calculated as 93.81% and the specificity as 98.59%. Glycine serine and threonine metabolic pathway, glutathione metabolism and aminoacyl-tRNA biosynthesis pathways were determined important in OC patients and HC. The R2Y, Q2, sensitivity and specificity values in the urine samples of BT patients and HC were found to be 0.869, 0.794, 91.75, 97.01% and 97.18%, respectively. L-threonine, L-pyroglutamic acid, benzoic acid, creatinine and pentadecanol metabolites were determined as prominent biomarkers. Valine, leucine and isoleucine biosynthesis and aminoacyl-tRNA biosynthesis were significant. In this study, thanks to the untargeted metabolomic approach and chemometric methods, every group was differentiated from the others and prominent biomarkers were determined.

Abstract
Bronchial chondromas are very rare pulmonary benign tumors. Despite their rarity, clinicians should be aware of the possibility of endobronchial tumors in patients with unexplained respiratory symptoms. Treatment modalities for the complete excision of the tumor should be initiated to prevent further complications based on the individual tumor situation.

Abstract
RATIONALE Parosteal lipomas are rare neoplasms comprising mature adipocytes situated in a proximity to bone. Although these tumors follow a benign course, the reactive osseous changes that may occur with such lesions might raise the suspicion of malignancy. PATIENT CONCERNS Here we present a case of a 33-year-old male patient complaining of pain and swelling in the right anterior forearm without history of trauma. DIAGNOSIS An magnetic resonance imaging of the region revealed a lobulated intramuscular fat intensity mass within the supinator muscle. Bony projection inseparable from the anterolateral radial diaphyseal cortex and periosteum was also seen. The radiological features suggested the diagnosis of parosteal lipoma. INTERVENTION After the radiological diagnosis of a parosteal lipoma, the patient was offered a total surgical excision of the mass. OUTCOMES The mass was removed successfully. Histopathology showed mature benign adipose tissue bordered by thin fibrous septa confirming the diagnosis of parosteal lipoma. Follow-up magnetic resonance imaging after 6 months did not reveal any signs of complications or recurrence. LESSONS Distinction of the features of parosteal lipomas is needed to establish the accurate diagnosis, discriminate it from malignant lesions, predict potential neurovascular compromises, and follow up until a curative action is planned.

Abstract
Összefoglaló. Bevezetés: A kis méretű vesedaganatok között lényegesen gyakoribbak a benignus elváltozások, és a kis malignus tumorok biológiai tulajdonságai is kedvezőbbek, mint a nagyobb daganatokéi. Célkitűzés: Szerzők a kis méretű vesetumorok tulajdonságait vizsgáltuk különböző alcsoportokban. A betegeket a tumorméret alapján három csoportba osztottuk. Orv Hetil. 2021; 162(42): 1693-1697. SUMMARY INTRODUCTION The incidence of benign lesions is more common in small renal masses (SRMs) and biological behavior of small malignancies is better compared to larger ones. OBJECTIVE The authors measured the characteristics of SRMs in different subgroups. METHOD From January 1, 2000 to January 1, 2015, 1272 patients underwent surgery for renal tumors. In 496 of the 1272 cases, the patients had SRMs. The mean age of the patients was 59 ± 12 years. Based on the sizes, the SRMs were divided into three groups. The sizes of the renal tumors were ≤4 cm in Group 1, ≤3 cm in Group 2 and ≤2 cm in Group 3. RESULTS The mean diameter of the removed SRMs was 29 ± 8 mm. Histology confirmed renal cell carcinoma in 418 cases (84%), while benign tumor was present in 78 patients (16%). However, with the tumor size ≤2 cm, malignancy was detected in 73.2% of the cases. There was a significant difference in the sizes of the malignant and the benign masses (p = 0.008). Grade 3 or 4 tumors were present in 10.8%, 14.4% and 20.7% when the tumor size was ≤2 cm, 2.1 to 3 cm, and 3.1 to 4 cm in diameter, respectively. During the mean 10-year follow-up period, tumor progression was detected only in 5.5% of malignancies. CONCLUSION In 39% of all cases, the patients had SRMs. The majority of SRMs were malignant, and benign lesion occurred only in 16% of the cases. The incidence of malignant tumors was the lowest when the size of SRMs was ≤2 cm. The size of the tumor was highly associated with probability of malignancy and tumor grading. Based on the favorable pathological and biological results in tumors below 2 cm, active surveillance or minimally invasive treatment could be the preferred management. Abstract
Fibroepithelial polyps of the vagina (FEPV) are rare entities which normally manifest as one or more painless polyps sometimes with symptoms such as bleeding, vaginal discharge, and discomfort regarding the size of the mass. Despite their benign nature, they can be confused with other vaginal tumors due to their abnormal histology. In this report, we present a case of a 44-year-old woman with a giant pedunculated and symptomatic polyp of the vagina with anterior vaginal wall prolapse. The treatment method included a simple local excision of the polyp and anterior vaginal compartment repair. Histopathological examination revealed a polypoid lesion covered by squamous epithelium containing a central fibrovascular core without atypia. The patient experienced an uneventful postoperative recovery, with no complication, which implies that surgery is the most effective modality for managing such tumors.

Abstract
Osteochondroma is the most common benign tumor of the growing bone that commonly involves the knee joint region. Hereby we present a case of an arthroscopic resection of a symptomatic intra-articular osteochondroma of the knee. A 32-year-old woman presented with diffuse and persistent pain of her right knee followed by discomfort for over three months. She did not report any history of injury or any other medical problem. Physical examination and imaging, with plain radiographs and MRI, revealed a bony mass arising from the supero-lateral aspect of her right distal femur without a stalk. This bone tumor, an osteochondroma, was arthroscopically resected and the diagnosis was confirmed by the histologic examination. The arthroscopic resection of this benign tumor led to complete relief of the symptoms of the patient and her return to daily and athletic activities in one month postoperatively. No recurrence of symptoms occurred during the seven-year follow-up period. Arthroscopic resection of a symptomatic osteochondroma is less painful, more cosmetically accepted, and can result in a quicker recovery than the traditional approach with an open incision.
