Abstract
Endophytic fungi are an important resource for bioactive natural products. In this study, a new tryptophan derivative fusaconate A (1) and three pyridone alkaloids, including one new pyridone derivative 1'-methoxy-6'-epi-oxysporidinone (2) and two known ones (3-4), were identified from the endophytic fungus Fusarium concentricum which was isolated from the medicinal plant Anoectochilus roxburghii. Their structures were elucidated through extensive spectroscopic analysis, including HR-ESI-MS, 1 D and 2 D NMR. Compound 4 exhibited moderate cytotoxicities against HT29 and PC3 cells with IC50 values of 7.60 and 4.99 μM, respectively.

Abstract
Two new 4-hydroxy-2-pyridone alkaloids furanpydone A and B (1 and 2), along with two known compounds N-hydroxyapiosporamide (3) and apiosporamide (4) were isolated from the endophytic fungus Arthrinium sp. GZWMJZ-606 in Houttuynia cordata Thunb. Furanpydone A and B had unusual 5-(7-oxabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane)-4-hydroxy-2-pyridone skeleton. Their structures including absolute configurations were determined on the basis of spectroscopic analysis, as well as the X-ray diffraction experiment. Compound 1 showed inhibitory activity against ten cancer cell lines (MKN-45, HCT116, K562, A549, DU145, SF126, A-375, 786O, 5637, and PATU8988T) with IC50 values from 4.35 to 9.72 µM. Compounds 1, 3 and 4 showed moderate inhibitory effects against four Gram-positive strains (Staphylococcus aureus, methicillin-resistant S. aureus, Bacillus Subtilis, Clostridium perfringens) and one Gram-negative strain (Ralstonia solanacarum) with MIC values from 1.56 to 25 µM. However, compounds 1-4 showed no obvious inhibitory activity against two Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and two pathogenic fungi (Candida albicans and Candida glabrata) at 50 µM. These results show that compounds 1-4 are expected to be developed as lead compounds for antibacterial or anti-tumor drugs.

Abstract
Four phenylfuropyridone racemates, (±)-tersones A-C and E (1–3, 5), one phenylpyridone racemate, (±)-tersone D (4), one new pyridine alkaloid, tersone F (6), single new phenylfuropyridone, tersone G (7) and two known analogs 8 and 9 were isolated from the deep-sea fungus Phomopsis tersa. Their structures and absolute configurations were characterized on the basis of comprehensive spectroscopic analyses, single-crystal X-ray diffraction experiments, and electronic circular dichroism (ECD) calculations. Moreover, compounds 1–9 were evaluated for in vitro antimicrobial and cytotoxic activity. Compounds 5b and 8b exhibited antibacterial activity against S. aureus with the MIC value of 31.5 μg/mL, while compound 5b showed cytoxic activities against SF-268, MCF-7, HepG-2 and A549 cell lines with IC50 values of 32.0, 29.5, 39.5 and 33.2 μM, respectively.

Abstract
Two novel compounds bearing heterocyclic nitrogen, 2-pyridone alkaloid (1) and alloxazine derivative (2), along with the known pretenellin B (3), pyridovericin (4) and lumichrome (5) were isolated from a culture of the entomopathogenic fungal strain Beauveria bassiana. The chemical structures of 2-pyridone alkaloid and alloxazine derivative were established on the basis of the interpretation of spectroscopic data. The isolated compounds were evaluated in a panel of five cancer cell lines and pyridovericin exhibited cytotoxicity (IC50, μM) against cancer cell lines: HL-60 (25.9 ± 0.3), HCT8 (34.6 ± 3.6), MDA-MB435 (34.8 ± 3.8) and SF295 (31.1 ± 0.6). Considering that other pyridone compounds display good cytotoxic activity, it would be suggested to obtain new semi synthetic derivatives of pyridovericin, for the development of new cytotoxic chemical entities.
