DSA-Net: Infrared and Visible Image Fusion via Dual-Stream Asymmetric Network

Infrared and visible image fusion technologies are used to characterize the same scene using diverse modalities. However, most existing deep learning-based fusion methods are designed as symmetric networks, which ignore the differences between modal images and lead to source image information loss during feature extraction. In this paper, we propose a new fusion framework for the different characteristics of infrared and visible images. Specifically, we design a dual-stream asymmetric network with two different feature extraction networks to extract infrared and visible feature maps, respectively. The transformer architecture is introduced in the infrared feature extraction branch, which can force the network to focus on the local features of infrared images while still obtaining their contextual information. The visible feature extraction branch uses residual dense blocks to fully extract the rich background and texture detail information of visible images. In this way, it can provide better infrared targets and visible details for the fused image. Experimental results on multiple datasets indicate that DSA-Net outperforms state-of-the-art methods in both qualitative and quantitative evaluations. In addition, we also apply the fusion results to the target detection task, which indirectly demonstrates the fusion performances of our method.

Detection of Occluded Small Commodities Based on Feature Enhancement under Super-Resolution

As small commodity features are often few in number and easily occluded by hands, the overall detection accuracy is low, and small commodity detection is still a great challenge. Therefore, in this study, a new algorithm for occlusion detection is proposed. Firstly, a super-resolution algorithm with an outline feature extraction module is used to process the input video frames to restore high-frequency details, such as the contours and textures of the commodities. Next, residual dense networks are used for feature extraction, and the network is guided to extract commodity feature information under the effects of an attention mechanism. As small commodity features are easily ignored by the network, a new local adaptive feature enhancement module is designed to enhance the regional commodity features in the shallow feature map to enhance the expression of the small commodity feature information. Finally, a small commodity detection box is generated through the regional regression network to complete the small commodity detection task. Compared to RetinaNet, the F1-score improved by 2.6%, and the mean average precision improved by 2.45%. The experimental results reveal that the proposed method can effectively enhance the expressions of the salient features of small commodities and further improve the detection accuracy for small commodities.

RDASNet: Image Denoising via a Residual Dense Attention Similarity Network

In recent years, thanks to the performance advantages of convolutional neural networks (CNNs), CNNs have been widely used in image denoising. However, most of the CNN-based image-denoising models cannot make full use of the redundancy of image data, which limits the expressiveness of the model. We propose a new image-denoising model that aims to extract the local features of the image through CNN and focus on the global information of the image through the attention similarity module (ASM), especially the global similarity details of the image. Furthermore, dilation convolution is used to enlarge the receptive field to better focus on the global features. Moreover, avg-pooling is used to smooth and suppress noise in the ASM to further improve model performance. In addition, through global residual learning, the effect is enhanced from shallow to deep layers. A large number of experiments show that our proposed model has a better image-denoising effect, including quantitative and visual results. It is more suitable for complex blind noise and real images.
