Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aims of this study were to assess the chest computed tomography (CT) findings in post-COVID-19 respiratory condition (rPCC) patients and compare the findings with asymptomatic participants (APs). It also aimed to evaluate the relationship between CT findings and pulmonary function tests (PFTs) in rPCC patients. Finally, it aimed to compare the quantitative chest CT findings and PFT results of patients with rPCC and APs. METHODS We retrospectively enrolled consecutive patients with rPCC who underwent unenhanced chest CT and PFTs between June 2020 and September 2022. In addition, a control group (APs) was prospectively formed and underwent nonenhanced chest CT and PFTs. The presence and extent of abnormalities in unenhanced chest CT images were evaluated qualitatively and semiquantitatively in a blinded manner. We used fully automatic software for automatic lung and airway segmentation and quantitative analyses. RESULTS Sixty-three patients with rPCC and 23 APs were investigated. Reticulation/interstitial thickening and extent of parenchymal abnormalities on CT were significantly greater in the rPCC group than in the control group ( P = 0.001 and P = 0.004, respectively). Computed tomography extent score was significantly related to length of hospital stay, age, and intensive care unit stay (all P s ≤ 0.006). The rPCC group also had a lower 85th percentile attenuation lung volume ( P = 0.037). The extent of parenchymal abnormalities was significantly correlated with carbon monoxide diffusing capacity ( r = -0.406, P = 0.001), forced vital capacity (FVC) ( r = -0.342, P = 0.002), and forced expiratory volume in 1 second/FVC ( r = 0.427, P < 0.001) values. Pulmonary function tests revealed significantly lower carbon monoxide diffusing capacity ( P < 0.001), FVC ( P = 0.036), and total lung capacity ( P < 0.001) values in the rPCC group. CONCLUSIONS The rPCC is characterized by impaired PFTs, a greater extent of lung abnormalities on CT, and decreased 85th percentile attenuation lung volume. Advanced age, intensive care unit admission history, and extended hospital stay are risk factors for chest CT abnormalities.

Abstract
PURPOSE Baastrup's disease is characterized by abnormal contact between adjacent spinous processes. Our study is the first to systematically incorporate the STIR sequence, recognized for its heightened sensitivity to fluid and edema, into the MRI protocol for diagnosing Baastrup's disease in symptomatic individuals. The objective is to determine its prevalence and association with lumbar spinal degenerative changes. MATERIALS AND METHODS Lumbar spinal MRI examinations of 375 patients performed between January 2021 and 2022 were retrospectively reviewed by two radiologists. Baastrup's disease was diagnosed based on meeting any of the following criteria: lumbar interspinous bursitis, hyperintense signal changes in adjacent spinous processes, and ligaments on the STIR sequence. The study also investigated the presence of degenerative changes and interreader agreement among radiologists. RESULTS Baastrup's disease was found in 141 of 375 individuals (37.8%). It correlated significantly with degenerative lumbar changes such as bulging (P = 0.0012), herniation (P = 0.0033), disc degeneration (P = 0.0013), Modic changes (P = 0.034), facet osteoarthritis (P = 0.0041), spinal stenosis (P = 0.005), and anterolisthesis (P = 0.0049). No significant associations were observed with gender (P = 0.468) or retrolisthesis (P = 0.167). Its occurrence increased gradually, peaking at 87.5% in individuals aged 80 and above. Radiologists showed complete agreement with Baastrup's diagnoses. CONCLUSION Baastrup's disease is more commonly observed than being considered rare, displaying an incremental occurrence with increasing age in symptomatic individuals notably discernible on the STIR sequence. Using the STIR sequence seems to promote a consensus among radiologists, irrespective of their experience levels.

Abstract
Testicular myeloid sarcoma (TMS) is a challenging pathology often posing diagnostic difficulties due to the poorly differentiated nature of tumor cells at the initial presentation. The delay in diagnosis significantly impacts patient life expectancy, emphasizing the need for prompt identification and treatment initiation. In certain cases, the presence of the Fms-like tyrosine kinase (FLT3) mutation adds complexity to the disease, requiring tailored therapeutic approaches. In this report, we present a unique case of bilateral TMS with FLT3 tyrosine kinase domain (TKD) mutation. The patient exhibited an aggressive clinical course, initially misdiagnosed with orchitis during the initial evaluation. Subsequent reevaluation of the testicular biopsy at a second center led to an accurate diagnosis, highlighting the importance of thorough examination in challenging cases. Given the emerging significance of FLT3 mutations in myeloid sarcomas, comprehensive testing for all FLT3 variants is crucial to determine the appropriate treatment modality. This case underscores the need for increased awareness among healthcare professionals regarding the diagnostic nuances and potential genetic variations associated with TMS. Furthermore, the inclusion of tyrosine kinase inhibitors, such as midostaurin or gilteritinib, especially in the presence of FLT3 mutations, may significantly impact treatment outcomes. This report contributes to the growing body of literature on TMS and highlights the importance of considering FLT3 mutations in the diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making process for improved patient care.

Abstract
Objectives This study aimed to evaluate choroidal thickness (CT) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and healthy controls and to determine its relationship with RA-associated interstitial lung disease (RA-ILD). Patients and methods A total of 63 patients with RA and 36 age- and sex-matched healthy controls were recruited in the cross-sectional study. Serological findings, Disease Activity Score-28, disease duration, and medical treatment of patients were recorded. Patients with RA were subdivided into two groups: patients with RA-ILD (Group 1) and patients with RA but without ILD (RA-noILD; Group 2). CTs were measured using enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography. CT was measured at five points: the subfoveal region, 750 μm nasal and temporal to the fovea, 1500 μm nasal and temporal to the fovea. Patients with RA-ILD were evaluated with delta high-resolution computed tomography (ΔHRCT) and pulmonary function test to determine the severity of interstitial lung disease. Results Four of 63 RA patients were excluded due to comorbidities. Thus, 59 RA patients, 20 in the RA-ILD group and 39 in the RA-noILD group, were included in the analyses. The RA groups were similar in terms of clinical characteristics and laboratory findings. There were statistically significant differences between Group 1, Group 2 and healthy controls (Group 3) compared to all CT values (p<0.05). The mean CT measured at 750 μm and 1500 μm nasal to the fovea was lowest in the RA-ILD group, followed by the RA-noILD and healthy groups (p<0.05). CT measurements did not correlate with the pulmonary function test and ΔHRCT. Conclusion RA-ILD patients had a thinner CT measured at nasal points. However, there was no association between CT measurements and the severity of ILD.

Abstract
HISTORY A 70-year-old woman with a 6-year history of asthma, a 12-year history of diabetes mellitus, and who did not smoke presented to the pulmonology clinic with dyspnea and cough. Chest CT performed 5 years earlier for similar symptoms revealed multiple pulmonary nodules. However, she was lost to follow-up before the work-up was concluded. Otherwise, her medical history was unremarkable. Family history included maternal endometrial cancer. Physical examination revealed partial oxygen saturation of 98%, respiratory rate of 18 breaths per minute, and heart rate of 77 beats per minute. Her breath sounds and other systemic findings were normal. Pulmonary function test results were as follows: forced expiratory volume in 1 second, 108% predicted (normal range, 80%-120%); total lung capacity, 72% predicted (normal range, 80%-120%); forced vital capacity, 101% predicted (normal range, 80%-120%); diffusing capacity for carbon monoxide, 69% predicted (normal range, 60%-120%); and forced midexpiratory flow, 85% predicted (normal range, 40%-160%). Complete blood count, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, C-reactive protein level, rheumatoid factor, and antinuclear antibody levels were within normal limits. The patient underwent volumetric thin-section CT of the chest using a multidetector CT scanner (Ingenuity Core 128; Philips Medical Systems) to evaluate lung nodules and pulmonary interstitium.

Abstract
Although Kawasaki disease is often self-limiting, significant cardiovascular sequelae may occur in the acute or late stage. The most common late complication is persistent coronary artery aneurysm, which can lead to myocardial ischaemia and even myocardial infarction. We report a case of coronary artery bypass grafting in a 16-year-old boy with a history of undiagnosed Kawasaki disease. Increased awareness of Kawasaki disease, especially among children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years, can increase early treatment and prevent serious complications that may occur in the future.

Abstract
AIM To assess the relationship between idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) prognosis, baseline skeletal muscle mass, and attenuation on computed tomography (CT) and clinical parameters. MATERIAL AND METHODS This retrospective cohort study enrolled 195 patients. The mean follow-up duration was 42.52 months. Erector spinae muscle area (ESMA), pectoralis muscle area (PMA), and the attenuation of the erector spinae muscle at the level of T12 vertebrae were measured. Muscle indexes were obtained by adjusting the measured muscle areas to the patients' heights. The relationship between baseline CT-derived muscle metrics and clinical parameters including short- and long-term mortality were evaluated. RESULTS There was a moderate correlation between ESMA and PMA and pectoralis muscle index (PMI; r=0.536, p<0001 and r=0.403, p<0.001 respectively). ESMA correlated significantly with forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1; hazard ratio [HR] = 0.488 p<0.001) and forced vital capacity (FVC; HR=0.501, p<0.001). Compared with PMA, ESMA was more strongly associated with 1- and 2-year mortality in patients with IPF (HR=0.957, p=0.022). The survival rate in male patients with sarcopenia was significantly worse (p=0.040). CONCLUSION ESMA measurements obtained from CT correlated with clinical parameters in IPF patients and were also predictors of short- and long-term survival.

Abstract
Objectives The study aimed to evaluate stiffness and the cross-sectional area (CSA) of the tibial nerve (TN) using shear wave elastography (SWE) and ultrasound (US) and investigate the relationship of these with disease activity, quality of life, and severity of neuropathic pain in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc). Patients and methods This cross-sectional study included 28 SSc patients (1 male, 27 females; mean age: 50±11 years; range, 28 to 67 years) and 22 age- and sex-matched healthy controls (4 males, 18 females; mean age: 48±6 years; range, 37 to 66 years) between March and April 2022. US and SWE were performed on the TN, and CSA and nerve stiffness were measured. The TN was examined by a radiologist, 4 cm proximal to the medial malleolus. A few days later, an evaluation was performed in the second session by a second observer to investigate inter-and intraobserver agreement. Interobserver agreement was evaluated using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). The Scleroderma Health Assessment Questionnaire, European League Against Rheumatism European Scleroderma Trial and Research (EUSTAR) group activity index, and Douleur-Neuropathique 4 scores of the patients were evaluated. Correlations between the questionnaires and measurements of nerve stiffness and CSA were assessed. Results Patients with SSc had significantly higher stiffness and CSA values of the right TN compared to healthy controls (p<0.001 and p=0.015, respectively). The nerve stiffness values of the right TN were positively correlated with the EUSTAR activity index (p=0.004, r=0.552). The CSA of the left TN was larger in patients with SSc (21.3±4.9 mm2 ) than in controls (12.8±3.4 mm2 ), and the nerve elasticity was positively correlated with the EUSTAR activity index (p=0.001, r=0.618). The interobserver agreement was moderate to good for measuring stiffness and CSA of the TN (ICC were 0.660 and 0.818, respectively). There was a good to excellent intraobserver agreement for measuring stiffness and CSA of TN (ICC were 0.843 and 0.940, respectively). Conclusion The increased disease activity in patients with SSc is associated with TN involvement, which can be demonstrated by US and SWE.

Abstract
HISTORY A 58-year-old man presented to the cardiology clinic with intermittent chest pain and a 5-day history of palpitations that were not associated with exercise. His medical history revealed that a cardiac mass was detected at echocardiography performed 3 years ago and for similar symptoms. However, he was lost to follow-up before his examinations were concluded. Apart from that, his medical history was unremarkable, and he had not experienced any cardiac symptoms in the intervening 3 years. He had a family history of sudden cardiac death, and his father died of a heart attack when he was 57 years old. Physical examination findings were unremarkable except for increased blood pressure (150/105 mmHg). Laboratory findings, including a complete blood count and creatinine, C-reactive protein, electrolyte, serum calcium, and troponin T levels, were within normal limits. Electrocardiography (ECG) was performed and revealed sinus rhythm and ST depression in the left precordial leads. Transthoracic two-dimensional echocardiography revealed an irregular left ventricle mass. The patient subsequently underwent contrast-enhanced ECG-gated cardiac CT followed by cardiac MRI to evaluate the left ventricle mass.

Abstract
A previously healthy 12-year-old girl presented to the emergency department with severe chest pain and dyspnea that woke her from sleep. She had short-term syncope just before the emergency admission. On physical examination, respiratory rate was 26 breaths per minute while resting, and blood pressure was 92/56 mmHg. Other physical examination findings were insignificant. She had no past medical history, and her family history was unremarkable. Laboratory test results showed elevated C-reactive protein (27 mg/L; reference range: <5 mg/L) and white blood cell count (13.7 K/μL; reference range: 4-12 K/μL). Other laboratory test results were within normal limits, including troponin T value (3 ng/L; reference range: 3-14 ng/L). An electrocardiogram showed 1 mm ST-segment elevation in bipolar (D1 and D2) limb leads, and augmented vector foot leads, and echocardiography revealed a complicated pericardial effusion and a suspicious mass adjacent to the left ventricle.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is an X-linked muscular disease which is caused by the absence of dystrophin. Troponin elevation with acute chest pain may indicate acute myocardial injury in these patients. We report a case of DMD that presented with ACP and troponin elevation, who was diagnosed with acute myocardial injury, and successfully treated with corticosteroids. CASE PRESENTATION A 9-year-old with DMD was admitted to the emergency department with the complaint of acute chest pain. His electrocardiogram (ECG) revealed inferior ST elevation and serum troponin T was elevated. The transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) demonstrated inferolateral and anterolateral hypokinesia with depressed left ventricular function. An ECG-gated coronary computed tomography angiography ruled out acute coronary syndrome. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging revealed mid-wall to sub-epicardial late gadolinium enhancement at the basal to the mid inferior lateral wall of the left ventricle and corresponding hyperintensity on T2-weighted imaging, consistent with acute myocarditis. A diagnosis of acute myocardial injury associated with DMD was made. He was treated with anticongestive therapy and 2 mg/kg/day of oral methylprednisolone. Chest pain resolved the next day, and ST-segment elevation returned to normal on the third day. Troponin T decreased in the sixth hour of oral methylprednisolone treatment. TTE on the fifth day revealed improved left ventricular function. CONCLUSION Despite advances in contemporary cardiopulmonary therapies, cardiomyopathy remains the leading cause of death in patients with DMD. Acute chest pain attacks with elevated troponin in patients with DMD without coronary artery disease may indicate acute myocardial injury. Recognition and appropriate treatment of acute myocardial injury episodes in DMD patients may delay the development of cardiomyopathy.

Abstract
HISTORY A 58-year-old man presented to the cardiology clinic with intermittent chest pain and a 5-day history of palpitations that were not associated with exercise. His medical history revealed that a cardiac mass was detected at echocardiography performed 3 years ago and for similar symptoms. However, he was lost to follow-up before his examinations were concluded. Apart from that, his medical history was unremarkable, and he had not experienced any cardiac symptoms in the intervening 3 years. He had a family history of sudden cardiac death, and his father died of a heart attack when he was 57 years old. Physical examination findings were unremarkable except for increased blood pressure (150/105 mmHg). Laboratory findings, including a complete blood count and creatinine, C-reactive protein, electrolyte, serum calcium, and troponin T levels, were within normal limits. Electrocardiography (ECG) was performed and revealed sinus rhythm and ST depression in the left precordial leads. Transthoracic two-dimensional echocardiography revealed an irregular left ventricle mass. The patient subsequently underwent contrast-enhanced ECG-gated cardiac CT followed by cardiac MRI to evaluate the left ventricle mass (Figs 1-5).

Cross-sectional imaging findings of COs, such as location, morphology, size, and accompanying wall motion abnormalities, play an essential role in determining the correct diagnosis and appropriate clinical management. Therefore, radiologists should be familiar with them. This article reviews the key cross-sectional imaging findings and differential diagnoses of COs.

Abstract
Pulmonary adverse events and drug-induced lung disease (DILD) can occur when treating many conditions. The incidence of DILDs in clinical practice and the variety of radiological findings have increased, mainly due to the increased use of novel therapeutic agents. It is crucial to determine whether the newly emerging clinical and imaging findings in these patients are due to the progression of the underlying disease, infection, pulmonary edema, or drug use, as this will change the patient management. Although the diagnosis of DILD is usually obtained by excluding other possible causes, radiologists should be aware of the imaging findings of DILD. This article reviews the essential radiological results of DILD and summarizes the critical clinical and imaging findings with an emphasis on novel therapeutic agents.

Abstract
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a viral disease that causes life-threatening health problems during acute illness, causing a pandemic and millions of deaths. Although computed tomography (CT) was used as a diagnostic tool for COVID-19 in the early period of the pan demic due to the inaccessibility or long duration of the polymerase chain reaction tests, cur rent studies have revealed that CT scan should not be used to diagnose COVID-19. However, radiologic findings are vital in assessing pneumonia severity and investigating complications in patients with COVID-19. Long-term symptoms, also known as long COVID, in people recovering from COVID-19 affect patients' quality of life and cause global health problems. Herein, we aimed to summarize the lessons learned in COVID-19 pneumonia, the challenges in diagnosing the disease and complications, and the prospects for future studies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Due to the long acquisition time and high cost of multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI), biparametric and, more recently, fast prostate magnetic resonance imaging (fpMRI) protocols have been described. However, there is insufficient data about the diagnostic performance and cost of fpMRI. PURPOSE To compare the diagnostic performances and cost analysis of fpMRI and mpMRI in clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCA). STUDY TYPE Retrospective. POPULATION A total of 103 patients (63 had csPCA) with a mean age of 66.83 (± 7.22) years were included. FIELD STRENGTH/SEQUENCE A 1.5-T; T1- and T2-weighted turbo spin-echo imaging (T1WI and T2WI), echo-planar diffusion-weighted images, and dynamic contrast-enhanced T1W imaging. ASSESSMENT Three readers independently evaluated the fpMRI and mpMRI images in different sessions blinded to all patient information. Diagnostic performances of fpMRI and mpMRI were evaluated. Kappa coefficient (κ) was used to determine the interreader and intrareader agreement. A detailed cost analysis was performed for each protocol. STATISTICAL TESTS Receiver operating characteristics analysis, area under the curve (AUC), and κ test were used. Diagnostic performance parameters were also calculated. RESULTS Of the 63 malignant index lesions (csPCA), 53/63 of those (84.1%) originated from the peripheral zone and 10/63 lesions (15.9%) originated from the transition zone. The AUC values for fpMRI were 0.878 for reader 1, 0.937 for reader 2, and 0.855 for reader 3. For mpMRI, the AUC values were 0.893 for reader 1, 0.94 for reader 2, and 0.862 for reader 3. Inter and intrareader agreements were moderate to substantial (κ range, 0.5-0.79). The total cost per examination was calculated as €12.39 and €30.10 for fpMRI and mpMRI, respectively. DATA CONCLUSIONS Fast MRI protocol has similar diagnostic performance with mpMRI in detecting csPCA, and fpMRI can be considered an alternative protocol that could create a lower financial burden on health-care systems. Abstract
Acute focal bacterial nephritis (AFBN) is characterised by a complicated upper urinary tract infection ranging from acute pyelonephritis to renal abscess. Timely diagnosis of AFBN is important because antibiotic therapy of longer duration is required. A 10-year-old boy presented with fever for 5 days and bilateral flank pain. He was oriented and cooperative but appeared ill. Physical examination did not reveal any oedema or costovertebral angle tenderness. Acute phase reactants such as erythrocyte sedimentation rate and C-reactive protein were raised, serum creatinine was 1.25 mg/dL (0.31-0.88) and leucocyte esterase was positive in the urine. Ultrasonographic examination demonstrated bilaterally enlarged kidneys with increased echogenicity. Because of the high creatinine level, abdominal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was performed instead of computed tomography (CT) for further evaluation. The MRI showed an increase in the size of both kidneys, renal cortical heterogeneity and multiple cortical nodular lesions with diffusion restriction (constrained Brownian movement of water molecules) on diffusion-weighted MRI. A negative urine culture result in children presenting with fever and abdominal pain may mislead the clinicians, causing them to miss a nephro-urological diagnosis. It is therefore recommended that patients in whom the cause of fever cannot be determined be scanned by ultrasound and examined by CT or MRI so that undiagnosed and/or suspected cases of AFBN might be detected.

Abstract
The novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is similar to connective tissue disease-associated interstitial lung diseases (CTD-ILD) in many aspects. However, patients with CTD-ILD have required particular attention during the pandemic since they are at high risk due to -immunosuppressive treatments. Thus, prompt decisions for diagnosis and treatment initiation have become more important than earlier for these patients during the pandemic. Radiological perspectives have become inevitable for the differential diagnosis of this group ¬during the pandemic, particularly to obtain rapid and accurate results that allow the physicians to start treatment immediately. However, in addition to radiological images, a definitive diagnosis also requires access to extensive information regarding patient history, including characteristics of comorbidities, and clinical and serological findings. Consequently, the differential diagnosis of COVID-19 and CTD-ILD can yield accurate treatment regimens that differ greatly between the 2 diseases, and also prevent the spread of the outbreak with COVID-19 patients treated under isolation.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aims to retrospectively investigate the imaging features of patients with sternum fracture (SF) and concomitant organ injuries. We also aimed to evaluate the potential prognostic effect of skeletal muscle area (TMA) and muscle attenuation (MuA) values. PATIENTS AND METHODS Computed tomography (CT) images of patients with SF were re-evaluated by two observers (Observer-1 and 2). Observer-3 has measured TMA and MuA values. Observer-1 has repeated the measurements blindly to the first measurement results to evaluate the inter-observer agreement. The length of hospital stay, death, hemiplegia, or quadriplegia were investigated from the archives. Mann-Whitney U-test or Student's t-test was used to investigate the relationship between linear variables. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) score was used to evaluate the interobserver agreement. Logistic regression analysis was used to estimate the relative effect of variables by calculating unadjusted odds ratios (ORs) for categorical outcomes. RESULTS Sixty-five patients had SF and 53 patients had SF and concomitant organ injuries. The most common injuries accompanying SF were rib fracture (73.58%) and lung contusion (60.38%). Manubrium fracture was the most common fracture location (52.3%), and 18 patients (27.7%) had displaced SF. Eight patients (15.1%) were discharged with plegia and five (9.4%) died. Hemothorax, displaced SF and decreased MuA were predictors of prolonged hospital stay, and the presence of cardiac contusion, displaced SF, hemothorax, and vertebra body fracture were independent factors for death. CONCLUSIONS The presence of a displaced SF and decreased MuA value are important prognostic factors in patients with SF.

Abstract
Spontaneous pneumothorax (SP) is characterized by the escape of broncho-alveolar air into presence of air in the pleural space without preceding blunt or penetrating trauma. SP requires prompt diagnosis and treatment. SP is divided into two groups as primary and secondary. Primary SP is usually seen in tall and thin patients with no clinically evident underlying lung disease (especially in tall and thin subjects), whereas secondary SP cases have an underlying lung disease, such as cystic lung disease, cavitary lung lesions, severe asthma, emphysema or pneumonia. Patients with Coronavirus-2019 (COVID-19) may experience the SP during the diagnosis and treatment processes, and it is a significant cause of morbidity. However, late-onset SP after recovering from COVID-19 is unusual. Herein we present a case with post-COVID-19 pulmonary fibrosis-like changes and subsequent late onset spontaneous pneumothorax (SP). We also present the patient's radiological findings.

Here, a 16-year-old pediatric patient, who has been on dialysis since the age of 3, and who was diagnosed with acute coronary syndrome and placed an emergency percutaneous transcatheter stent in the left anterior descending branch of the left coronary artery is presented. It is important that the present patient does not have any electrocardiography findings in favor of cardiovascular disease and that he cannot fully explain the complaint of chest pain due to his mental retardation.
Conclusions
Early detection of acute coronary syndrome is life-saving, especially in children with chronic kidney disease.

Abstract
Objectives
This study aims to measure and compare bilateral carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT), bilateral jugular, common femoral, and main portal vein wall thicknesses (VWTs) in Behçet’s disease (BD) patients with and without vascular involvement to obtain a cut-off value for vascular complications and determine their relationship with disease activity. Sixty-three BD patients (41 males, 22 females; median age: 38.0 years; min 20 - max 71 years) and 30 healthy control subjects (14 males, 16 females; median age: 40.3 years; min 21 - max 60 years) were included in this cross-sectional study between February and March 2020. According to imaging findings, BD patients were divided into two groups as those with and without vascular complications. Disease duration, medical treatment and BD manifestations of patients were questioned. Disease activity was evaluated using the Behçet's Disease Current Activity Form (BDCAF) and the Behçet's Syndrome Activity Scale (BSAS). Two radiologists blinded to the diagnosis of BD used ultrasound to measure VWT and CIMT. Receiver operating characteristics were assessed to obtain sensitivity and specificity values for each VWT and CIMT. Results
The groups were similar in terms of age, sex, and body mass index (p>0.05). There was a significant difference between the BD groups when the BDCAF and BSAS scores were compared, while there was no difference between them in terms of disease duration and medical treatment (p>0.05). All VWTs and CIMTs were significantly higher in patients with BD compared to healthy controls (p<0.05). There was no significant difference between the BD groups in terms of CIMT, jugular and common femoral VWTs (p>0.05). But portal VWT was significantly higher in patients with vascular involvement (p<0.05). A cut-off value of ≥1.35 mm yielded a sensitivity of 79.2% and a specificity of 82.4% for the diagnosis of vascular involvement with the highest Youden's index (area under the curve, 0.869; 95% confidence interval, 0.783 to 0.956). Conclusion Portal VWT has high sensitivity and specificity for the screening of vascular involvement in patients with BD.
