Abstract
Tridacna spp. are valuable archives for paleoclimate and paleoweather research due to their distinct daily growth patterns and the sensitivity of the daily growth patterns to environment changes. However, manually identifying daily growth lines and measuring the daily growth increment width (DGIW) of Tridacna shells from Laser Scanning Confocal Microscopy (LSCM) images is a tedious task that has become a significant barrier to Tridacna studies. This paper addresses this challenge by integrating machine learning into Tridacna research for the first time to automate the calculation of the number of daily growth lines and DGIW of Tridacna shells. Specifically, we propose an unsupervised generative adversarial attention network called TriGAN to automatically recognize distinct daily growth lines of Tridacna shells from LSCM images. Utilizing modern Tridacna specimens collected from the South China Sea, our experimental results demonstrate that TriGAN can effectively reconstruct the ambiguous and blurred regions in LSCM images and produce higher quality images of daily growth patterns compared to existing image generation networks. Furthermore, the daily growth line number and DGIW of Tridacna shells can be counted automatically from the images recognized by TriGAN, which are in good agreement with the statistical results obtained manually from the original LSCM images (R = 0.7, p < 0.01 for the DGIW profile of T. gigas specimen MD1 and R = 0.6, p < 0.01 for T. derasa specimen XB10). This automated method provides an efficient solution for researching the laminar chronology of Tridacna.

Abstract
Dietary fiber metabolism by gut microorganisms plays important roles in host physiology and health. Alginate, the major dietary fiber of daily diet seaweeds, is drawing more attention because of multiple biological activities. To advance the understanding of alginate assimilation mechanism in the gut, we show the presence of unsaturated alginate oligosaccharides (uAOS)-specific alginate utilization loci (AUL) in human gut microbiome. As a representative example, a working model of the AUL from the gut microorganism Bacteroides clarus was reconstructed from biochemistry and transcriptome data. The fermentation of resulting monosaccharides through Entner-Doudoroff pathway tunes the metabolism of short-chain fatty acids and amino acids. Furthermore, we show that uAOS feeding protects the mice against dextran sulfate sodium-induced acute colitis probably by remodeling gut microbiota and metabolome. IMPORTANCE Alginate has been included in traditional Chinese medicine and daily diet for centuries. Recently discovered biological activities suggested that alginate-derived alginate oligosaccharides (AOS) might be an active ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine, but how these AOS are metabolized in the gut and how it affects health need more information. The study on the working mechanism of alginate utilization loci (AUL) by the gut microorganism uncovers the role of unsaturated alginate oligosaccharides (uAOS) assimilation in tuning short-chain fatty acids and amino acids metabolism and demonstrates that uAOS metabolism by gut microorganisms results in a variation of cell metabolites, which potentially contributes to the physiology and health of gut.

Abstract
Severe acute pancreatitis (SAP), characterized by pancreatic acinar cell death, currently lacks effective targeted therapies. Ellagic acid (EA), rich in pomegranate, shows promising anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects in SAP treatment. However, the roles of other forms of EA, such as plant extracellular vesicles (EVs) extracted from pomegranate, and Urolithin A (UA), converted from EA through gut microbiota metabolism in vivo, have not been definitively elucidated. Our research aimed to compare the effects of pomegranate-derived EVs (P-EVs) and UA in the treatment of SAP to screen an effective formulation and to explore its mechanisms in protecting acinar cells in SAP. By comparing the protective effects of P-EVs and UA on injured acinar cells, UA showed superior therapeutic effects than P-EVs. Subsequently, we further discussed the mechanism of UA in alleviating SAP inflammation. In vivo animal experiments found that UA could not only improve the inflammatory environment of pancreatic tissue and peripheral blood circulation in SAP mice but also revealed that the mechanism of UA in improving SAP might be related to mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) through the results including pancreatic tissue transcriptomics and transmission electron microscopy. Further research found that UA could regulate ER-mitochondrial calcium channels and reduce pancreatic tissue necroptosis. In vitro experiments of mouse pancreatic organoids and acinar cells also confirmed that UA could improve pancreatic inflammation by regulating the ER-mitochondrial calcium channel and necroptosis pathway proteins. This study not only explored the therapeutic effect of plant EVs on SAP but also revealed that UA could alleviate SAP by regulating ER-mitochondrial calcium channel and reducing acinar cell necroptosis, providing insights into the pathogenesis and potential treatment of SAP.

Abstract
Bamboo, as a renewable bioresource, exhibits advantages of fast growth cycle and high strength. Bamboo-based composite materials are a promising alternative to load-bearing structural materials. It is urgent to develop high-performance glued-bamboo composite materials. This study focused on the chemical bonding interface to achieve high bonding strength and water resistance between bamboo and dialdehyde cellulose-polyamine (DAC-PA4N) adhesive by activating the bamboo surface. The bamboo surface was initially modified in a directional manner to create an epoxy-bamboo interface using GPTES. The epoxy groups on the interface were then chemically crosslinked with the amino groups of the DAC-PA4N adhesive, forming covalent bonds within the adhesive layer. The results demonstrated that the hot water strength of the modified bamboo was improved by 75.8 % (from 5.17 to 9.09 MPa), and the boiling water strength was enhanced by 232 % (from 2.10 to 6.99 MPa). The bonding and flexural properties of this work are comparable to those of commercial phenolic resin. The activation modification of the bamboo surface offers a novel approach to the development of low-carbon, environmentally friendly, and sustainable bamboo engineering composites.

Abstract
High internal phase Pickering emulsions (HIPPEs) stabilized by edible colloid particles have gained great interest. In this study, ultrasound-treated pea protein isolate and mung bean starch complexes (UPPI/MS) were prepared and used in stabilization of HIPPEs. The emulsifying properties of UPPI/MS were found to be superior to those of pea protein isolate (PPI), as evidenced by a smaller particle size and higher surface hydrophobicity. HIPPEs stabilized by UPPI/MS displayed a higher viscoelastic and gel-like structure. Low-Field NMR (LF-NMR) revealed that HIPPEs stabilized by UPPI60/MS (UPPI60/MS-HIPPEs) showed better ability to restrict the mobility of water. UPPI60/MS-HIPPEs also revealed the best environmental stability attributed a stronger three-dimensional network structure. Encapsulation of β-carotene within HIPPEs resulted in improving stability, with UPPI60/MS-HIPPEs exhibiting the highest retention rate of 73.58 %. Moreover, β-carotene encapsulated in HIPPEs displayed enhanced bioaccessibility, with UPPI60/MS-HIPPEs achieving the highest value of 25.37 %. This research highlighted the potential of UPPI60/MS complexes as effective stabilizers for HIPPEs and provided new insights on HIPPEs in nutrient delivery systems.

Abstract
China, especially the densely populated North China region, experienced severe haze events in the past decade that concerned the public. Although the most extreme cases have been largely eliminated through recent mitigation measures, severe outdoor air pollution persists and its environmental impact needs to be understood. Severe indoor pollution draws less public attention due to the short visible distance indoors, but its public health impacts cannot be ignored. Herein, we assess the trends and impacts of severe outdoor and indoor air pollution in North China from 2014 to 2021. Our results demonstrate the uneven contribution of severe hazy days to ambient and exposure concentrations of particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter <2.5 (PM2.5). Although severe indoor pollution contributes to indoor PM2.5 concentrations (23%) to a similar extent as severe haze contributes to ambient PM2.5 concentrations (21%), the former's contribution to premature deaths was significantly higher. Furthermore, residential emissions contributed more in the higher PM2.5 concentration range both indoors and outdoors. Notably, severe haze had greater health impacts on urban residents, while severe indoor pollution was more impactful in rural areas. Our findings suggest that, besides reducing severe haze, mitigating severe indoor pollution is an important aspect of combating air pollution, especially toward improving public health.

Abstract
Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) hydrolysis in deliquesced aerosol particles forms nitrous acid and nitrate and thus impacts air quality, climate, and the nitrogen cycle. Traditionally, it is considered to proceed far too slowly in the atmosphere. However, the significance of this process is highly uncertain because kinetic studies have only been made in dilute aqueous solutions but not under high ionic strength conditions of the aerosol particles. Here, we use laboratory experiments, air quality models, and field measurements to examine the effect of the ionic strength on the reaction kinetics of NO2 hydrolysis. We find that high ionic strengths (I) enhance the reaction rate constants (kI) by more than an order of magnitude compared to that at infinite dilution (kI=0), yielding log10(kI/kI=0) = 0.04I or rate enhancement factor = 100.04I. A state-of-the-art air quality model shows that the enhanced NO2 hydrolysis reduces the negative bias in the simulated concentrations of nitrous acid by 28% on average when compared to field observations over the North China Plain. Rapid NO2 hydrolysis also enhances the levels of nitrous acid in other polluted regions such as North India and further promotes atmospheric oxidation capacity. This study highlights the need to evaluate various reaction kinetics of atmospheric aerosols with high ionic strengths.

Abstract
Segmentation and classification of breast tumors are critical components of breast ultrasound (BUS) computer-aided diagnosis (CAD), which significantly improves the diagnostic accuracy of breast cancer. However, the characteristics of tumor regions in BUS images, such as non-uniform intensity distributions, ambiguous or missing boundaries, and varying tumor shapes and sizes, pose significant challenges to automated segmentation and classification solutions. Many previous studies have proposed multi-task learning methods to jointly tackle tumor segmentation and classification by sharing the features extracted by the encoder. Unfortunately, this often introduces redundant or misleading information, which hinders effective feature exploitation and adversely affects performance. To address this issue, we present ACSNet, a novel multi-task learning network designed to optimize tumor segmentation and classification in BUS images. The segmentation network incorporates a novel gate unit to allow optimal transfer of valuable contextual information from the encoder to the decoder. In addition, we develop the Deformable Spatial Attention Module (DSAModule) to improve segmentation accuracy by overcoming the limitations of conventional convolution in dealing with morphological variations of tumors. In the classification branch, multi-scale feature extraction and channel attention mechanisms are integrated to discriminate between benign and malignant breast tumors. Experiments on two publicly available BUS datasets demonstrate that ACSNet not only outperforms mainstream multi-task learning methods for both breast tumor segmentation and classification tasks, but also achieves state-of-the-art results for BUS tumor segmentation. Abstract
BACKGROUND The utilization of islet-like cells derived from pluripotent stem cells may resolve the scarcity of islet transplantation donors. The subcutaneous space is a promising transplantation site because of its capacity for graft observation and removal, thereby ensuring safety. To guarantee subcutaneous islet transplantation, physicians should ensure ample blood supply. Numerous methodologies, including prevascularization, have been investigated to augment blood flow, but the optimal approach remains undetermined. METHODS From C57BL/6 mice, 500 syngeneic islets were transplanted into the prevascularized subcutaneous site of recipient mice by implanting agarose rods with basic fibroblast growth factor at 1 and 2 wk. Before transplantation, the blood glucose levels, cell infiltration, and cytokine levels at the transplant site were evaluated. Furthermore, we examined the impact of the extracellular matrix capsule on graft function and the inflammatory response. RESULTS Compared with the 1-wk group, the 2-wk group exhibited improved glycemic control, indicating that longer prevascularization enhanced transplant success. Flow cytometry analysis detected immune cells, such as neutrophils and macrophages, in the extracellular matrix capsules, whereas cytometric bead array analysis indicated the release of inflammatory and proinflammatory cytokines. Treatment with antitumor necrosis factor and anti-interleukin-6R antibodies in the 1-wk group improved graft survival, similar to the 2-wk group. CONCLUSIONS In early prevascularization before subcutaneous transplantation, neutrophil and macrophage accumulation prevented early engraftment owing to inflammatory cytokine production.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Gaming disorder (GD) and hazardous gaming (HG) have a high incidence among adolescents and young adults and have caused various negative consequences. Interpersonal interaction deficits are closely related to GD and HG, however, the underlying brain mechanisms are still unclear. METHODS The current study recruited 46 healthy subjects and 32 subjects with GD/HG. Gaming time and frequency, gaming disorder risks, life events, strengths, and difficulties were measured with scales. Subjects were randomly paired into 12 HC-HC dyads, 15 GD/HG-HC dyads, and 7 GD/HG-GD/HG dyads and in pairs completed a real-world cooperating video game - "Tied Together" with functional near-infrared spectroscopy hyperscanning recording in the prefrontal cortex. The inter-brain synchronization in each region of the PFC between dyads was calculated by wavelet to transform coherence to measure brain-to-brain synchronization. RESULTS We found subjects with GD/HG reported higher risks of gaming. The highest IBS in the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex significantly decreased in the GD/HG-HC and GD/HG-GD/HG dyads compared with healthy controls. A decreasing highest IBS of the left dlPFC was related to a decreasing level of peer problems. LIMITATIONS We declare limitations of age gaps of samples, undistinguishing GD from HG, use of sub-samples, and the broad concept of interpersonal interaction. CONCLUSIONS The current study found a decreased highest IBS in the left dlPFC among adolescents and young adults with gaming diseases. It may provide new prevention and treatment insights into gaming disorders targeting disrupted interpersonal interaction.

Abstract
One-step carbonization was explored to prepare biochar using the residue of a traditional Chinese herbal medicine, Atropa belladonna L. (ABL), as the raw material. The resulting biochar, known as ABLB4, was evaluated for its potential as a sustainable material for norfloxacin (NOR) adsorption in water. Subsequently, a comprehensive analysis of adsorption isotherms, kinetics, and thermodynamics was conducted through batch adsorption experiments. The maximum calculated NOR adsorption capacity was 252.0 mg/g at 298 K, and the spontaneous and exothermic adsorption of NOR on ABLB4 could be better suited to a pseudo-first-order kinetic model and Langmuir model. The adsorption process observed is influenced by pore diffusion, π-π interaction, electrostatic interaction, and hydrogen bonding between ABLB4 and NOR molecules. Moreover, the utilization of response surface modeling (RSM) facilitated the optimization of the removal efficiency of NOR, yielding a maximum removal rate of 97.4% at a temperature of 304.8 K, an initial concentration of 67.1 mg/L, and a pH of 7.4. Furthermore, the biochar demonstrated favorable economic advantages, with a payback of 852.5 USD/t. More importantly, even after undergoing five cycles, ABLB4 exhibited a consistently high NOR removal rate, indicating its significant potential for application in NOR adsorption.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Invasive mucinous adenocarcinoma (IMA) has a rare incidence with better prognosis than nonmucinous adenocarcinoma. We aimed to investigate the prognosis between limited resection and lobectomy for patients with clinical stage IA IMA ≤ 2 cm. METHODS Data were taken from two cohorts: In Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital (SPH) corhort, we identified 403 patients with clinical stage IA IMA who underwent surgery. In the SEER corhort, 480 patients with stage T1 IMA who after surgery were included. Recurrence-free survival (RFS) for SPH corhort, lung cancer-specific survival (LCSS) for the SEER corhort and overall survival (OS) for both corhort were compared between patients undergoing lobectomy and limited resection by Log-rank and Cox proportional hazard regression model. RESULTS In SPH corhort, patients who underwent limited resection had equivalent prognosis than those underwent lobectomy (5-year RFS: 79.3% versus. 82.6%, p = 0.116; 5-year OS: 86.2% versus. 88.3%, p = 0.235). However, patients with IMA > 2 to 3 cm had worse prognosis than those with IMA ≤ 2 cm (5-year RFS: 73.7% versus. 86.1%, p = 0.007). In the analysis of IMA > 2 to 3 cm subgroup, multivariate analysis showed that limited resection was an independent risk factor of RFS (hazard ratio, 2.417; 95% confidence interval, 1.157-5.049; p = 0.019), while OS (p = 0.122) was not significantly different between two groups. For IMA ≤ 2 cm, limited resection was not a risk factor of RFS (p = 0. 953) and OS (p = 0.552). In the SEER corhort, IMA ≤ 2 cm subgroup, limited resection was equivalent prognosis in LCSS (p = 0.703) and OS (p = 0.830). CONCLUSIONS Limited resection could be a potential surgical option which comparable to lobectomy in patients with clinical stage IA IMA ≤ 2 cm.

Abstract
This registration study assessed clinical outcomes of TQ-B3525, the dual phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI3K) α/δ inhibitor, in relapsed and/or refractory follicular lymphoma (R/R FL). This phase II study (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT04324879. Registered March 27, 2020) comprised run-in stage and stage 2. R/R FL patients after ≥2 lines therapies received oral 20 mg TQ-B3525 once daily in a 28-day cycle until intolerable toxicity or disease progression. Primary endpoint was independent review committee (IRC)-assessed objective response rate (ORR). Based on results (ORR, 88.0%; duration of response [DOR], 11.8 months; progression-free survival [PFS], 12.0 months) in 25 patients at run-in stage, second stage study was initiated and included 82 patients for efficacy/safety analysis. Patients received prior-line (median, 3) therapies, with 56.1% refractory to previous last therapies; 73.2% experienced POD24 at baseline. At stage 2, ORR was 86.6% (71/82; 95% CI, 77.3-93.1%), with 28 (34.2%) complete responses. Disease control rate was 95.1% due to 7 (8.5%) stable diseases. Median time to response was 1.8 months. Among 71 responders, median DOR was not reached; 18-month DOR rate was 51.6%. with median follow-up of 13.3 months, median PFS was 18.5 (95% CI, 10.2-not estimable) months. Median overall survival (OS) was not reached by cutoff date; 24-month OS rate was estimated as 86.1%. Response rates and survival data were consistent across all subgroups. Grade 3 or higher treatment-related adverse events were observed in 63 (76.8%) cases, with neutropenia (22.0%), hyperglycemia (19.5%), and diarrhea (13.4%) being common. TQ-B3525 showed favorable efficacy and safety for R/R FL patients after ≥2 lines prior therapies.

Abstract
The dynamics of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) export from headwater catchments are of critical importance for the global carbon balance and are driven by complex runoff processes. Most previous studies have used statistical relationships between runoff and DOC concentration to estimate DOC export dynamics. Thus, the coupling mechanisms between runoff generation and DOC export dynamics at the process level were obscured in the fitting parameters and have rarely been addressed. In this study, high-frequency (hourly) discharge and DOC export from a typical flash flood experimental headwater catchment with an area of 1.8 km2 were simulated using a process-based model (INCA-C). The results showed that the INCA-C model successfully captured the hourly dynamics of both discharge and DOC concentrations with a Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE) of 0.47-0.81 and 0.28-0.70 among moderate events and 0.81-0.85 and 0.19-0.90 among extreme events, respectively. The DOC was exported with distinct concentration dynamics, fluxes, and contributions from the four flow pathways under different storm intensities. At higher intensities, the DOC fluxes were exported by subsurface flows, particularly from shallow organic soil, with greater peaks and shorter time-to-peaks. Exported DOC is primarily sourced from subsurface runoff from the mineral layer (73 %-77 %) during moderate events, whereas it is primarily sourced from subsurface runoff from the organic layer (61 %-79 %) during extreme events. The two contrasting contributions suggest that hydrological pathway controls and DOC dynamic patterns can shift owing to runoff generation influenced by storm intensity. The distinct and variable controls of different flow pathways on DOC export highlight the need to explain the role of hydrology in regulating DOC storm exports through process-based modelling.

Abstract
Ultrahigh-power-density multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) are critical components in electrical and electronic systems. However, the realization of a high energy density combined with a high efficiency is a major challenge for practical applications. We propose a high-entropy design in barium titanate (BaTiO3)-based lead-free MLCCs with polymorphic relaxor phase. This strategy effectively minimizes hysteresis loss by lowering the domain-switching barriers and enhances the breakdown strength by the high atomic disorder with lattice distortion and grain refining. Benefiting from the synergistic effects, we achieved a high energy density of 20.8 joules per cubic centimeter with an ultrahigh efficiency of 97.5% in the MLCCs. This approach should be universally applicable to designing high-performance dielectrics for energy storage and other related functionalities.

Abstract
Background Catastrophic antiphospholipid syndrome (CAPS) is a multi-system autoimmune disease characterized by extensive thrombosis. Pediatric CAPS is extremely rare and associated with a high mortality rate, especially when midbrain infarction is involved. Hence, early diagnosis and prompt initiation of appropriate treatment for CAPS complicated by midbrain infarction are of utmost importance in achieving favorable outcomes. Case presentation In this report, we present the case of a 14-year-old girl who presented with neurological symptoms and digestive system infection and was initially diagnosed with an "intracranial infection". After a series of rigorous diagnostic procedures, the patient was ultimately diagnosed with primary CAPS and was immediately transferred to the intensive care unit where she was treated with anticoagulation, glucocorticoids, intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) therapy, and multiple plasma infusions. Twenty-seven days after admission, the patient's condition improved with standardized treatment, and she was discharged and followed up regularly. Conclusion This case report provides a description of the clinical features observed in a pediatric patient with CAPS and concurrent midbrain infarction, highlighting the crucial role of early diagnosis and timely treatment in influencing patient prognosis.

Abstract
The 5-fluoroalkyl-1,2,3-triazoles, serving as a pivotal element in medicinal chemistry, hold substantial research significance. In this work, we developed a furan dearomatization reaction for the synthesis of various 5-fluoroalkyl-1,2,3-triazoles, which contains -CF3, -CF2H, -CF2CF3, -CF2CF2CF3, -CF2CO2Et, and -C6F5. This methodology relies on the intermolecular [3 + 2] cycloaddition/furan ring-opening triggered by α-fluoroalkyl furfuryl cation with azides to stereoselectively synthesize a series of (E)-fluoroalkyl enone triazoles. The reaction proceeds without metal participation, exhibits excellent substrate tolerance, and has excellent synthetic utility.

Abstract
Notoginseng saponins (NS) are the active ingredients in Panax notoginseng (Burk.) F.H. Chen (PN). NS can be transformed depending on how the extract is processed. Fermentation has been shown to produce secondary ginsenosides with increased bioavailability. However, the therapeutic effect of fermented NS (FNS) requires further study. The present study compared the compositions and activities of FNS and NS in blood deficiency rats, which resembles the symptoms of anemia in modern medicine, induced by acetylphenylhydrazine and cyclophosphamide. A total of 32 rats were randomly divided into control, model, FNS and NS groups. A blood deficiency model was established and then treatment was orally administered for 21 days. The results of component analysis indicated that some saponins transformed during the fermentation process resulting in a decrease of notoginsenoside R1, and ginsenosides Rg1, Rb1 and Re, and an increase in ginsenosides Rd, Rh2, compound K, protopanaxadiol and protopanaxatriol. The animal results showed that both FNS and NS increased the number of white blood cells (WBCs), red blood cells, hemoglobin, platelets and reticulocytes, and the levels of granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), erythropoietin (EPO) and thrombopoietin (TPO), decreased the G0/G1 phase and increased G2/M phase, and decreased the apoptosis rate of bone marrow (BM) cells, which suggested a contribution to the recovery of hematopoietic function of the BM cells. FNS and NS increased the protein expression levels of the cytokines IL-4, IL-10, IL-12, IL-13, TGF-β, IL-6, IFN-γ and TNF-α, and the mRNA expression levels of transcription factors GATA binding protein 3 and T-box expressed in T cell (T-bet). FNS and NS treatment also increased the number of CD4+ T cells, and decreased the enlargement of the rat spleen and thymus atrophy, which indicated a protective effect on the organs of the immune system. The results of the present study demonstrated that compared with NS, FNS showed an improved ability to increase the levels of WBCs, lymphocytes, GM-CSF, EPO, TPO, aspartate aminotransferase, IL-10, IL-12, IL-13 and TNF-α, and the mRNA expression levels of T-bet, and decrease alanine aminotransferase levels. The differences seen for FNS treatment could arise from their improved bioavailability compared with NS, due to the larger proportion of hydrophobic ginsenosides produced during fermentation.

Abstract
PURPOSE Patients with peripheral T-cell lymphomas (PTCL) in the relapsed or refractory (r/r) setting have only a limited number of therapies available, and the prognosis is extremely poor. SHR2554 is an oral inhibitor against EZH2, a rational therapeutic target for lymphomas. PATIENTS AND METHODS This was a multicenter, two-part, phase I study of SHR2554 in r/r mature lymphoid neoplasms. In part I, 350 mg twice daily was established as the recommended phase II dose (RP2D) based on the findings during dose escalation and expansion; subsequently, selected lymphoma subtypes were recruited in clinical expansion cohorts to receive SHR2554 at RP2D. Here, we provide an in-depth assessment of SHR2554 at RP2D in subpopulation with r/r PTCL. RESULTS Twenty-eight patients were included for analysis (17 angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma and 11 not otherwise specified). Eighteen (64%) patients had received ≥2 lines of previous anticancer therapies. The objective response rate was 61% [95% confidence interval (CI), 41-78]. Responses were still ongoing in 59% (10/17) of the responders; estimated median duration of response was 12.3 months (95% CI, 7.4-not reached). Median progression-free survival was 11.1 months (95% CI, 5.3-22.0), and 12-month overall survival rate was 92% (95% CI, 72-98). The most common grade 3 or 4 treatment-related adverse events were decreased platelet count [nine (32%)] as well as decreased white blood cell count, decreased neutrophil count, and anemia [four (14%) for each]. No treatment-related deaths were reported. CONCLUSIONS This extended follow-up analysis further supports SHR2554 as a therapeutic opportunity for patients with r/r PTCL.

Abstract
Spin-crossover (SCO) materials exhibit remarkable potential as bistable switches in molecular devices. However, the spin transition temperatures (Tc) of known compounds are unable to cover the entire ambient temperature spectrum, largely limiting their practical utility. This study reports an exemplary two-dimensional SCO solid solution system, [FeIII(H0.5LCl)2-2x(H0.5LF)2x]·H2O (H0.5LX = 5-X-2-hydroxybenzylidene-hydrazinecarbothioamide, X = F or Cl, x = 0 to 1), in which the adjacent layers are adhered via hydrogen bonding. Notably, the Tc of this system can be fine-tuned across 90 K (227-316 K) in a linear manner by modulating the fraction x of the LF ligand. Elevating x results in strengthened hydrogen bonding between adjacent layers, which leads to enhanced intermolecular interactions between adjacent SCO molecules. Single-crystal diffraction analysis and periodic density functional theory calculations revealed that such a special kind of alteration in interlayer interactions strengthens the FeIIIN2O2S2 ligand field and corresponding SCO energy barrier, consequently resulting in increased Tc. This work provides a new pathway for tuning the Tc of SCO materials through delicate manipulation of molecular interactions, which could expand the application of bistable molecular solids to a much wider temperature regime.

Abstract
BACKGROUND We aimed to validate the prognostic implication of uncertain resection, R(un), proposed by International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) and evaluate the prognostic value of spread through air spaces (STAS) in reclassifying the R classification among patients with lung adenocarcinoma after segmentectomy. METHODS We enrolled 1007 patients who underwent segmentectomy for c-stage IA lung adenocarcinoma between 2014 and 2017. Recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) were compared to evaluate the prognostic value of IASLC-R(un) and STAS. Whether STAS would skip into complementary lobectomy was evaluated in a prospective cohort. RESULTS The current IASLC-R(un) failed to significantly stratify the RFS (P = .078) in segmentectomy, and STAS was a stronger risk factor of poor prognosis for both RFS and OS (P < .001). Moreover, the presence of STAS was associated with increased locoregional recurrence in patients undergoing segmentectomy (P < .001) but not in those treated with lobectomy (P = .187), indicating that only STAS-positive segmentectomy was consistent with the concept of R(un) in relapse pattern. After reclassifying STAS-positive segmentectomy into the R(un) category, the proposed R(un) showed an improvement in prognosis stratification. In addition, 2 of 30 patients (6.2%) in the prospective cohort who underwent initial segmentectomy and complementary lobectomy had STAS clusters in the complementary lobectomy specimens. CONCLUSIONS Unfavorable prognosis, relapse patterns consistent with R(un), and pathologic verification that saltatory spread of STAS observed in complementary lobectomy specimens supported reclassifying STAS-positive segmentectomy as R(un). STAS is a critical concern for the surgical completeness evaluation after segmentectomy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Medullary thyroid carcinoma has a high rate of recurrence and distant metastasis. The aim of this study was to investigate the risk factors for distant metastasis in patients with primary medullary thyroid carcinoma. METHODS Patients diagnosed with primary medullary thyroid cancer between 2010 and 2015 were enrolled using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. Patient demographics and tumor clinicopathological features were evaluated to identify potential risk factors for distant metastasis in patients with primary medullary thyroid cancer. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to determine independent risk factors for distant metastasis in patients with primary medullary thyroid carcinoma. All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS statistical software (version 27.0). A two-tailed P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS We collected 685 patients with primary medullary thyroid carcinoma, 40 of whom (5.84%) developed distant metastases. Univariate logistic regression analysis showed that except marital status, age, sex, race, pT stage, N stage, multifocal and capsular infiltration were significantly correlated with distant metastasis of medullary thyroid carcinoma. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that patients aged ≤ 18 years or > 55 years, Black race, higher pT stage and N stage were independent risk factors for distant metastasis of medullary thyroid carcinoma. CONCLUSIONS This study found that ≤ 18 years or > 55 years, black race, higher pT stage and N stage were significantly associated with distant metastasis of medullary thyroid cancer. This is important for clinicians to identify patients at high risk of distant metastasis in a timely manner.

Abstract
The relationship between CD276 and malignancies of the female reproductive system has previously been controversial. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the predictive value of CD276 expression in clinicopathological features and prognosis of female reproductive system malignant tumors through meta-analysis. PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CNKI and Wanfang databases were searched for studies published up to December 2022 on the role of CD276 expression in the clinicopathological features and prognosis of female reproductive system malignancies. STATA 14.0 was used for meta-analysis. A total of 10 studies were included, involving 840 patients with malignant tumors of the female reproductive system. The results showed that in terms of clinicopathological features: CD276 expression was closely related to lymph node status [OR = 2.33, 95 %CI = 1.32-4.11, P = 0.003], tumor differentiation [OR = 2.15, 95 %CI = 1.27-3.63, P = 0.004], and FIGO stage [OR = 2.58, 95 %CI = 1.44-4.61, P = 0.001] of reproductive system malignant tumors. In terms of prognosis: CD276 expression is strongly associated with shorter OS in patients with female reproductive system malignancies [HR = 3.33, 95 % CI = 1.36-8.15, P = 0.01]. CD276 may be a new target for immunotherapy and a biomarker for predicting poor prognosis of female reproductive system malignancies.

Abstract
To cope with real-world dynamics, an intelligent system needs to incrementally acquire, update, accumulate, and exploit knowledge throughout its lifetime. This ability, known as continual learning, provides a foundation for AI systems to develop themselves adaptively. In a general sense, continual learning is explicitly limited by catastrophic forgetting, where learning a new task usually results in a dramatic performance drop of the old tasks. Beyond this, increasingly numerous advances have emerged in recent years that largely extend the understanding and application of continual learning. The growing and widespread interest in this direction demonstrates its realistic significance as well as complexity. In this work, we present a comprehensive survey of continual learning, seeking to bridge the basic settings, theoretical foundations, representative methods, and practical applications. Based on existing theoretical and empirical results, we summarize the general objectives of continual learning as ensuring a proper stability-plasticity trade-off and an adequate intra/inter-task generalizability in the context of resource efficiency. Then we provide a state-of-the-art and elaborated taxonomy, extensively analyzing how representative strategies address continual learning, and how they are adapted to particular challenges in various applications. Through an in-depth discussion of promising directions, we believe that such a holistic perspective can greatly facilitate subsequent exploration in this field and beyond.

Abstract
Objectives: This study aims to explore the clinical significance of lateral pelvic sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) using indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence navigation in laparoscopic lateral pelvic lymph node dissection (LLND) and evaluate the accuracy and feasibility of this technique to predict the status of lateral pelvic lymph nodes (LPLNs). Methods: The clinical and pathological characteristics, surgical outcomes, lymph node findings and perioperative complications of 16 rectal cancer patients who underwent SLNB using ICG fluorescence navigation in laparoscopic LLND in the Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College during April 2017 and October 2022 were retrospectively collected and analyzed. The patients did not receive preoperative neoadjuvant radiotherapy and presented with LPLNs but without LPLN enlargement (MRI showed the maximum short axes of the LPLNs were ≥5 mm and <10 mm at first visit). Results: All 16 patients were successfully performed SLNB using ICG fluorescence navigation in laparoscopic LLND. Three patients underwent bilateral LLND and 13 patients underwent unilateral LLND. The lateral pelvic sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs) were clearly fluorescent before dissection in 14 patients and the detection rate of SLNs for these patients was 87.5%. Lateral pelvic SLN metastasis was diagnosed in 2 patients and negative results were found in 12 patients by frozen pathological examinations. Among the 14 patients in whom lateral pelvic SLNs were detected, the dissected lateral pelvic non-SLNs were all negative. All dissected LPLNs were negative in two patients without fluorescent lateral pelvic SLNs. The specificity, sensitivity, negative predictive value, and accuracy was 85.7%, 100%, 100%, and 100%, respectively. Conclusions: This study indicates that lateral pelvic SLNB using ICG fluorescence navigation shows promise as a safe and feasible procedure with good accuracy. This technique may replace preventive LLND for locally advanced lower rectal cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIM Sarcoplasmic/endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ ATPase 2 (SERCA2) is critical in maintaining Ca2+ homeostasis. The cysteine 674 (C674) is the key redox regulatory cysteine in regulating SERCA2 activity, which is irreversibly oxidized in the renal cortex of hypertensive mice. We have reported that the substitution of C674 by serine causes SERCA2 dysfunction and increases blood pressure by induction of endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS). This study is to explore whether the dysfunction of SERCA2 causes hypertension by interrupting mitochondrial homeostasis and inducing oxidative stress. METHODS & RESULTS We used heterozygous SERCA2 C674S gene mutation knock-in (SKI) mice, where one copy of C674 was substituted by serine to represent partial C674 oxidation. In renal proximal tubule (RPT) cells, the substitution of C674 by serine decreased mitochondrial Ca2+ content, increased mitochondrial membrane potential, ATP content, and reactive oxygen species (ROS), which could be reversed by ERS inhibitor 4-phenylbutyric acid or SERCA2 agonist CDN1163. In SKI RPT cells, the redox modulator Tempol alleviated oxidative stress, downregulated the protein expression of ERS markers and soluble epoxide hydrolase, upregulated the protein expression of dopamine D1 receptor, and reduced Na+/K+- ATPase activity. In SKI mice, SERCA2 agonists CDN1163 and [6]-Gingerol, or the redox modulator Tempol increased urine output and lowered blood pressure. CONCLUSION The irreversible oxidation of C674 is not only an indicator of increased ROS, but also further inducing oxidative stress to cause hypertension. Activation of SERCA2 or inhibition of oxidative stress is beneficial to alleviate hypertension caused by SERCA2 dysfunction.

Abstract
Machine learning with optical neural networks has featured unique advantages of the information processing including high speed, ultrawide bandwidths and low energy consumption because the optical dimensions (time, space, wavelength, and polarization) could be utilized to increase the degree of freedom. However, due to the lack of the capability to extract the information features in the orbital angular momentum (OAM) domain, the theoretically unlimited OAM states have never been exploited to represent the signal of the input/output nodes in the neural network model. Here, we demonstrate OAM-mediated machine learning with an all-optical convolutional neural network (CNN) based on Laguerre-Gaussian (LG) beam modes with diverse diffraction losses. The proposed CNN architecture is composed of a trainable OAM mode-dispersion impulse as a convolutional kernel for feature extraction, and deep-learning diffractive layers as a classifier. The resultant OAM mode-dispersion selectivity can be applied in information mode-feature encoding, leading to an accuracy as high as 97.2% for MNIST database through detecting the energy weighting coefficients of the encoded OAM modes, as well as a resistance to eavesdropping in point-to-point free-space transmission. Moreover, through extending the target encoded modes into multiplexed OAM states, we realize all-optical dimension reduction for anomaly detection with an accuracy of 85%. Our work provides a deep insight to the mechanism of machine learning with spatial modes basis, which can be further utilized to improve the performances of various machine-vision tasks by constructing the unsupervised learning-based auto-encoder.

Abstract
Helicenes are promising candidates for circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) materials, although the performance is poor due to the unsatisfactory dissymmetric factor (glum) and fluorescence quantum efficiency (ΦF). Herein, the influence of heteroatoms (C, Si, Ge, O, S and Se) on the electronic structures and chiroptical properties of [7]helicene derivatives is systematically investigated using density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT calculations combined with the thermal vibration correlation function theory. The results reveal that the non-radiative energy consumption processes for helicene systems are closely related to the variation of bond length upon electronic excitation. Moreover, by introducing five-membered rings and heteroatoms, the dipole-forbidden S1 → S0 emission of [7]helicene changes to dipole-allowed transition due to the rearrangement of occupied orbitals and lifting of the nearly degenerate orbitals, resulting in an enhancement of ΦF. As the heteroatomic radius increases, ΦF decreases while the glum increases. Compared with the derivatives containing aromatic five-membered rings ([7]H-O, [7]H-S, and [7]H-Se), the non-aromatic counterparts ([7]H-C, [7]H-Si, and [7]H-Ge) exhibit a balance in ΦF and glum values. The present study helps to clarify the relationship between structures and chiroptical properties and offers a feasible strategy for the future design of helicene-based CPL materials.

Abstract
BACKGROUND TMPRSS2-ERG (T2E) fusion is highly related to aggressive clinical features in prostate cancer (PC), which guides individual therapy. However, current fusion prediction tools lacked enough accuracy and biomarkers were unable to be applied to individuals across different platforms due to their quantitative nature. This study aims to identify a transcriptome signature to detect the T2E fusion status of PC at the individual level. METHODS Based on 272 high-throughput mRNA expression profiles from the Sboner dataset, we developed a rank-based algorithm to identify a qualitative signature to detect T2E fusion in PC. The signature was validated in 1223 samples from three external datasets (Setlur, Clarissa, and TCGA). RESULTS A signature, composed of five mRNAs coupled to ERG (five ERG-mRNA pairs, 5-ERG-mRPs), was developed to distinguish T2E fusion status in PC. 5-ERG-mRPs reached 84.56% accuracy in Sboner dataset, which was verified in Setlur dataset (n = 455, accuracy = 82.20%) and Clarissa dataset (n = 118, accuracy = 81.36%). Besides, for 495 samples from TCGA, two subtypes classified by 5-ERG-mRPs showed a higher level of significance in various T2E fusion features than subtypes obtained through current fusion prediction tools, such as STAR-Fusion. CONCLUSIONS Overall, 5-ERG-mRPs can robustly detect T2E fusion in PC at the individual level, which can be used on any gene measurement platform without specific normalization procedures. Hence, 5-ERG-mRPs may serve as an auxiliary tool for PC patient management.

Abstract
Phase transitions of water and its mixtures are of fundamental importance in physical chemistry, the pharmaceutical industry, materials sciences, and atmospheric sciences. However, current understanding remains elusive to explain relevant observations, especially at the nanoscale. Here, by using molecular dynamics simulations, we investigate the dissolution of sodium chloride (NaCl) nanocrystals with volume-equivalent diameters from 0.51 to 1.75 nm. Our results show that the dissolution of NaCl in aqueous nanodroplets show a strong size dependence, and its solubility can be predicted by the Ostwald-Freundlich equation and Gibbs-Duhem equation after considering a size-dependent solid-liquid surface tension. We find that the structure of dissolved ions in the saturated aqueous nanodropplet resembles the structure of a molten NaCl nanoparticle. With decreasing nanodroplet size, this similarity grows and the average potential energy of NaCl in solution, the molten phase and the crystal phase converges.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE In recent years, Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) has been increasingly associated with extra-digestive manifestations, including scleroderma, rheumatism, and blood system diseases. Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is a common chronic disease worldwide, with an insidious onset, but as the disease progresses, it will eventually seriously affect the quality of life of patients. The aim of our study was to investigate the relationship between H. pylori infection, iron deficiency (ID), and IDA, and to identify potential serological markers. PATIENTS AND METHODS We conducted a cross-sectional study of 998 individuals who had regular physical examinations at Beijing Shijitan Hospital from January 2021 to March 2022. We detected H. pylori infection by the 13C breath test, and recorded the patient's serum iron, ferritin, transferrin saturation, blood count, etc. We assessed the association between IDA and H. pylori infection and related serum markers using logistic regression and multiple linear regression. Afterward, we analyzed the correlation between sex and potential serum biomarkers. RESULTS Among all study participants, 57.5% of patients had H. pylori and 42.5% did not have H. pylori. ID and IDA were significantly associated with H. pylori infection in women (p=0.031). This association persisted after further adjustment for sex, metabolic variables, liver function, and kidney function. Fasting blood glucose, triglycerides, and uric acid may be associated with IDA. CONCLUSIONS In women, H. pylori infection is associated with ID and IDA. The relationship between H. pylori and IDA may be mediated by glycometabolism, lipid metabolism, and uric acid metabolism.

Abstract
PURPOSE Compared with other types of thyroid carcinoma, patients with medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) are more likely to develop cervical lymph node metastasis. This study was conducted to clarify the risk factors for cervical lymph node metastasis (central lymph node metastasis or lateral cervical lymph node metastasis) in MTC by meta-analysis, and to provide evidence-based basis for the treatment and prognosis of MTC. METHODS The literatures related to cervical lymph node metastasis in medullary thyroid carcinoma were searched in PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane, CNKI and Wanfang databases, and statistical analysis was performed using Revman 5.3 and Stata 14.0 software. RESULTS A total of 28 papers were included in this paper, and meta-analysis showed that the occurrence of central lymph node metastasis (CLNM) in MTC patients was significantly associated with tumor size (OR = 3.07, 95%CI: 2.04-4.63, P < 0.00001), multifocality (OR = 0.29, 95%CI: 0.19-0.44, P < 0.00001), bilaterality (OR = 3.75, 95% CI: 1.95-7.14, P < 0.0001), capsular invasion (OR = 9.88, 95% CI: 5.93-16.45, P < 0.00001) and extrathyroidal extension (OR = 5.48, 95% CI: 2.61-11.51, P < 0.00001). While the occurrence of lateral cervical lymph node metastasis (LLNM) in MTC patients was strongly correlated with gender (OR = 2.97, 95%CI: 2.46-3.58, P < 0.00001), tumor size (OR = 3.88, 95%CI: 1.90-7.92, P = 0.0002 < 0.05), multifocality (OR = 0.43, 95%CI: 0.35-0.51, P < 0.00001), bilaterality (OR = 2.93, 95% CI: 1.72-4.98, P < 0.0001), capsular invasion (OR = 8.44, 95% CI: 6.11-11.64, P < 0.00001), extrathyroidal extension (OR = 7.04, 95% CI: 5.54-8.94, P < 0.00001), margin of the tumor (OR = 4.47, 95% CI: 2.37-8.44, P < 0.00001), shape of the tumor (OR = 6.81, 95% CI: 3.64-12.73, P < 0.00001), preoperative calcitonin level (SMD = 1.39, 95% CI: 0.98-1.80, P < 0.00001), preoperative carcinoembryonic antigen level (SMD = 0.97, 95% CI: 0.74-1.20, P < 0.00001) and CLNM (OR = 19.70, 95% CI: 14.16-27.43, P < 0.00001). CONCLUSION Tumor size, multifocality, bilaterality, capsular invasion and extrathyroidal extension are the main risk factors for developing CLNM in MTC patients; And risk factors for developing LLNM in MTC patients include: gender, tumor size, multifocality, bilaterality, capsular invasion, extrathyroidal extension, margin of the tumor, shape of the tumor, preoperative calcitonin level, preoperative carcinoembryonic antigen level and central lymph node metastasis. These risk factors can guide the individualized treatment plan and improve the prognosis of MTC patients.

Abstract
Neural-symbolic models provide a powerful tool to tackle complex visual reasoning tasks by combining symbolic program execution for reasoning and deep representation learning for visual recognition. A probabilistic formulation of such models with stochastic latent variables can obtain an interpretable and legible reasoning system with less supervision. However, it is still nontrivial to generate reasonable symbolic structures without the guidance of domain knowledge, since it generally involves an optimization problem with both continuous and discrete variables. Despite the challenges, the interpretability of such symbolic structures provides an interface to regularize their generation by domain knowledge. In this article, we propose to incorporate the available domain knowledge into the learning process of probabilistic neural-symbolic (PNS) models via posterior constraints that directly regularize the structure posterior. In this way, our model is able to identify a middle point where the structure generation process mainly learns from data but also selectively borrows information from domain knowledge. We further present inductive reasoning where the posterior constraints can be automatically reweighted to handle noisy annotations. The experimental results show that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance on major abstract reasoning datasets and enjoys good generalization capability and data efficiency.

Abstract
AIMS The astaxanthin-producing yeast Xanthophyllomyces dendrorhous is widely used in aquaculture. Due to the production of carotenoid, this yeast shows visible color; however, high-throughput approaches for identification of astaxanthin-overproducing strains remain rare. METHODS AND RESULTS This study verified an effective approach to identify astaxanthin-overproducing mutants of X. dendrorhous by flow cytometry (FCM) and cell sorting. First, the mutant libraries were generated by atmospheric and room-temperature plasma (ARTP) mutagenesis. Second, a highly direct correlation between the concentrations of intracellular astaxanthin and the levels of emitting fluorescence was constructed by testing a variety of astaxanthin-contained populations via FCM and cell sorting. Third, iterative cell sorting efficiently improves the identification of astaxanthin-overproducing strains. Finally, two mutants producing 4.96 mg astaxanthin g-1 DCW (dry cell weight) and 5.30 mg astaxanthin g-1 DCW were obtained, which were 25.3% and 33.8% higher than that of the original strain, respectively. CONCLUSIONS This study demonstrated that iterative ARTP mutagenesis along with cell sorting by FCM is effective for identifying astaxanthin-overproduction strains.

Abstract
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are organic pollutants and manufactured substances conferring toxicity to human health. The present study investigated whether pyrene, a type of PAH, harms rats. Our research provides an effective feature selection strategy for the animal dataset from Wenzhou Medical University's Experimental Animal Center to thoroughly examine the impacts of PAH toxicity on rat features. Initially, we devised a high-performance optimization method (SCBA) and added the Sobol sequence, vertical crossover and horizontal crossover mechanisms to the bat algorithm (BA). The SCBA-KELM model, which combines SCBA with the kernel extreme learning machine model (KELM), has excellent accuracy and high stability for selecting features. Benchmark function tests are then used in this research to verify the overall optimization performance of SCBA. In this paper, the feature selection performance of SCBA-KELM is verified using various comparative experiments. According to the results, the features of the genes PXR, CAR, CYP2B1/2 and CYP1A1/2 have the most impact on rats. The SCBA-KELM model's classification performance for the gene dataset was 100%, and the model's precision value for the public dataset was around 96%, as determined by the classification index. In conclusion, the model utilized in this research is anticipated to be a reliable and valuable approach for toxicological classification and assessment.

Abstract
HLX01 (HanliKang®) is a rituximab biosimilar that showed bioequivalence to reference rituximab in untreated CD20-positive diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) in the phase 3 HLX01-NHL03 study. Here, we report the 5-year follow-up results from the open-label extension part. Patients were randomised to either rituximab plus cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone (R-CHOP) or HLX01 plus CHOP (H-CHOP) every 21 days for up to six cycles. The primary efficacy endpoint was overall survival (OS), and secondary efficacy endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS). Of the 407 patients enrolled in HLX01-NHL03, 316 patients (H-CHOP = 157; R-CHOP = 159) were included in the 5-year follow-up for a median duration of 65.1 (range, 2.2-76.5) months. 96.5% of the patients had an International Prognostic Index (IPI) of 1 or 2, and 17.7% had bone marrow involvement. The 5-year OS rates were 81.0% (95% CI: 74.9-87.5%) and 75.4% (95% CI: 68.9-82.6%)( HR: 0.75, 95% CI 0.47-1.20; p = 0.23) while 5-year PFS rates were 77.7% (95% CI: 71.4-84.6%) and 73.0% (95% CI: 66.3-80.3%) (HR: 0.84, 95% CI 0.54-1.30; p = 0.43) in the H-CHOP and R-CHOP groups, respectively. Treatment outcomes did not differ between groups regardless of IPI score and were consistent with the primary analysis. H-CHOP and R-CHOP provided no significant difference in 5-year OS or PFS in previously untreated patients with low or low-intermediate risk DLBCL.

Abstract
Disordered immunity, aging, human immunodeficiency virus type one (HIV-1) infection, and responses to antiretroviral therapy are linked. However, how each factor is linked with the other(s) remains incompletely understood. It has been reported that accelerated aging, advanced HIV-1 infection, inflammation, and host genetic factors are associated with host cellular, mitochondrial, and metabolic alterations. However, the underlying mechanism remains elusive. With these questions in mind, we used chronically HIV-1-infected CD34-NSG humanized mice (hu-mice) to model older people living with HIV and uncover associations between HIV-1 infection and aging. Adult humanized mice were infected with HIV-1 at the age of 20 weeks and maintained for another 40 weeks before sacrifice. Animal brains were collected and subjected to transcriptomics, qPCR, and immunofluorescence assays to uncover immune disease-based biomarkers. CD4+ T cell decline was associated with viral level and age. Upregulated C1QA, CD163, and CXCL16 and downregulated LMNA and CLU were identified as age-associated genes tied to HIV-1 infection. Ingenuity pathway analysis affirmed links to innate immune activation, pyroptosis signaling, neuroinflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction, cellular senescence, and neuronal dysfunction. In summary, CD34-NSG humanized mice are identified as a valuable model for studying HIV-1-associated aging. Biomarkers of immune senescence and neuronal signaling are both age- and virus-associated. By exploring the underlying biological mechanisms that are linked to these biomarkers, interventions for next generation HIV-1-infected patients can be realized.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION While the potential future role of virtual agents (VAs) in treating addiction is promising, participants' attitudes toward the use of VAs in psychotherapy remain insufficiently investigated. This lack of investigation could pose barriers to the adoption of VA-led psychotherapy for people with substance use disorders (SUD). This research aims to explore the acceptability and usability of VAs for people with methamphetamine use disorder. METHODS Following a single session of psychotherapy led by VAs through the Echo-app, a group of 49 individuals actively seeking treatment for current DSM-V substance dependence (with a mean age of 39.06 ± 8.02) completed self-administered questionnaires and participated in focus group interviews. These questionnaires aimed to investigate participants' preference regarding the type of psychotherapy and their willingness to engage in VA-led psychotherapy, taking into account their diverse psychological needs. RESULTS Quantitative data were subjected to analysis through both descriptive and inferential statistical methods. Interestingly, participants exhibited a significantly higher acceptability for traditional face-to-face psychotherapy compared to email-based psychotherapy (p = 0.042), but there was no statistically significant difference between their acceptance of traditional psychotherapy and VA-led psychotherapy (p = 0.059). The questionnaire outcomes indicated participants' willingness to engage in VA-led psychotherapy for purposes such as relapse prevention intervention, addressing emotional issues, managing somatic experiences, and facilitating social and family functional recovery. Furthermore, the participants' attitudes toward VA-led psychotherapy were predicted by factors including the need for anxiety-focused psychotherapy (p = 0.027; OR [95%CI] = 0.14[0.03,0.80]), the presence of chronic somatic diseases (p = 0.017; OR [95%CI] = 13.58[1.59,116.03]), and marital status (p = 0.031; OR [95%CI] = 5.02[1.16,21.79]). DISCUSSION Through the interviews, the study uncovered the factors that either supported or hindered participants' experiences with VA-led psychotherapy, while also gathering suggestions for future improvements. This research highlights the willingness and practicality of individuals with SUD in embracing VA-led psychotherapy. The findings are anticipated to contribute to the refinement of VA-led tools to better align with the preferences and needs of the users.

Abstract
Methamphetamine (METH) abuse inflicts both physical and psychological harm. While our previous research has established the regulatory role of miR-29c-3p in behavior sensitization, the underlying mechanisms and target genes remain incompletely understood. In this study, we employed the isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation (iTRAQ) technique in conjunction with Ingenuity pathway analysis (IPA) to probe the putative molecular mechanisms of METH sensitization through miR-29c-3p inhibition. Through a microinjection of AAV-anti-miR-29c-3p into the nucleus accumbens (NAc) of mice, we observed the attenuation of METH-induced locomotor effects. Subsequent iTRAQ analysis identified 70 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs), with 22 up-regulated potential target proteins identified through miR-29c-3p target gene prediction and IPA analysis. Our focus extended to the number of neuronal branches, the excitatory synapse count, and locomotion-related pathways. Notably, GPR37, NPC1, and IREB2 emerged as potential target molecules for miR-29c-3p regulation, suggesting their involvement in the modulation of METH sensitization. Quantitative PCR confirmed the METH-induced aberrant expression of Gpr37, Npc1, and Ireb2 in the NAc of mice. Specifically, the over-expression of miR-29c-3p led to a significant reduction in the mRNA level of Gpr37, while the inhibition of miR-29c-3p resulted in a significant increase in the mRNA level of Gpr37, consistent with the regulatory principle of miRNAs modulating target gene expression. This suggests that miR-29c-3p potentially influences METH sensitization through its regulation of neuroplasticity. Our research indicates that miR-29c-3p plays a crucial role in regulating METH-induced sensitization, and it identified the potential molecular of miR-29c-3p in regulating METH-induced sensitization.

Abstract
Intestinal flora plays an important role in maintaining the internal stability and health of the intestine. Currently, intestinal microbes are considered an important "organ" but are mostly ignored by people. This study evaluated the flora structure of each intestinal segment of blue foxes pre-weaning and explored the differences between the fecal flora and intestinal flora structure of each segment after weaning. Samples of intestinal contents from three blue foxes at 45 days of age (before weaning) and intestinal contents and feces samples from at 80 days (after weaning) were collected for 16s rRNA flora analysis. The species and distribution characteristics of microorganisms in different intestinal segments of blue foxes before and after weaning were different. Except for the rectum, the dominant flora of each intestinal segment of blue fox changed significantly after experiencing weaning, and the fecal flora structure of young fox at the weaning stage did not represent the whole intestinal flora structure but was highly similar to that of the colon and rectum. To sum up, the intestinal flora of blue foxes changed systematically before and after weaning. When performing non-invasive experiments, the microflora structure of the colon and rectum of blue foxes can be predicted by collecting fecal samples.

Abstract
Background: Previous studies demonstrated a controversial relationship between sarcopenia (SP) and osteoarthritis (OA) and their genetic causality is unclear. Thus, we conducted a Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to evaluate the possible causal association between sarcopenia-related traits (appendicular lean mass (ALM), grip strength, usual walking pace) and OA. Method: We used pooled genetic data from the UK Biobank for ALM(n = 450,243), left-hand grip strength (n = 461,026), right-hand grip strength (n = 461,089) and usual walking pace (n = 459,915). Moreover, summary statistics for OA were obtained from the latest study conducted by the Genetics of Osteoarthritis Consortium, including all OA (n = 826,690), hand OA (n = 303,7782), hip OA (n = 353,388) and knee OA (n = 396,054). The primary method for estimating causal effects was the inverse-variance weighted (IVW) method, with the utilizing of false discovery rate adjusted p values (P FDR). Additional MR methods such as MR-Egger regression, MR pleiotropy residual sum and outlier (MR-PRESSO), weighted median were employed as supplementary analyses. Results: We discovered ALM (odds ratio (OR) = 1.103, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.052-1.156, P FDR = 2.87E-04), hand grip strength (left, IVW OR = 0.823, 95% CI = 0.712 to 0.952, P FDR = 0.020; right, OR = 0.826, 95% CI = 0.718 to 0.950, P FDR = 0.020), and usual walking pace (OR = 0.339, 95% CI = 0.204 to 0.564, P FDR = 2.38E-04) were causally associated with OA risk. In the reverse MR analysis, we identified a causal effect of OA on ALM (β = -0.258, 95% CI = -0.369 to 0.146, P FDR = 0.6.07E-06), grip strength (left, β = -0.064, 95% CI = -0.104 to 0.024, P FDR = 0.002; right, β = -0.055, 95% CI = -0.095 to 0.014, P FDR = 0.008), and usual walking pace (β = -0.104, 95% CI = -0.147 to 0.061, P FDR = 1.61E-05). Conclusion: This present study suggests an obvious causality of SP on OA, with condition exhibiting site-specific effects, while evidence was also provided for the causal effect of OA on SP.

Abstract
The inability of people living with HIV (PLWH) to eradicate human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection is due in part to the inadequate HIV-specific cellular immune response. The antiviral function of cytotoxic CD8+ T cells, which are crucial for HIV control, is impaired during chronic viral infection because of viral escape mutations, immune exhaustion, HIV antigen downregulation, inflammation, and apoptosis. In addition, some HIV-infected cells either localize to tissue sanctuaries inaccessible to CD8+ T cells or are intrinsically resistant to CD8+ T cell killing. The novel design of synthetic chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) that enable T cells to target specific antigens has led to the development of potent and effective CAR-T cell therapies. While initial clinical trials using anti-HIV CAR-T cells performed over 20 years ago showed limited anti-HIV effects, the improved CAR-T cell design, which enabled its success in treating cancer, has reinstated CAR-T cell therapy as a strategy for HIV cure with notable progress being made in the recent decade.Effective CAR-T cell therapy against HIV infection requires the generation of anti-HIV CAR-T cells with potent in vivo activity against HIV-infected cells. Preclinical evaluation of anti-HIV efficacy of CAR-T cells and their safety is fundamental for supporting the initiation of subsequent clinical trials in PLWH. For these preclinical studies, we developed a novel humanized mouse model supporting in vivo HIV infection, the development of viremia, and the evaluation of novel HIV therapeutics. Preclinical assessment of anti-HIV CAR-T cells using this mouse model involves a multistep process including peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) harvested from human donors, T cell purification, ex vivo T cell activation, transduction with lentiviral vectors encoding an anti-HIV CAR, CAR-T cell expansion and infusion in mice intrasplenically injected with autologous PBMCs followed by the determination of CAR-T cell capacity for HIV suppression. Each of the steps described in the following protocol were optimized in the lab to maximize the quantity and quality of the final anti-HIV CAR-T cell products.

Abstract
The abundant oxygen-related defects (e.g., O vacancies, O-H) in the TiO2 electron transport layer results in high surface energy, which is detrimental to effective carrier extraction and seriously impairs the photovoltaic performance and stability of perovskite solar cells. Here, novel surface energy engineering (SEE) is developed by applying a surfactant of heptadecafluorooctanesulfonate tetraethylammonium (HFSTA) on the surface of the TiO2 . Theoretical calculations show that the HFSTA-TiO2 is less prone to form O vacancies, leading to lower surface energy, thus improving the carrier-extraction efficiency. The experimental results show that superior perovskite film is obtained due to the reduced heterogeneous nucleation sites and improved crystallization process on the modified TiO2 . Furthermore, the flexible long alkyl chains in HFSTA considerably relieve the compressive stresses at the buried interface. By combining the passivation of TiO2 , crystallization process modulation, and stress relief, a champion PCE up to 25.03% is achieved. The device without encapsulation sustains 92.2% of its initial PCE after more than 2500 h storage under air ambient with relative humidity of 25-30%. The SEE of a buried interface paves a new way toward high-efficiency, stable perovskite solar cells.

Abstract
Ozone (O3) pollution is becoming the primary air pollution issue with the large decrease in fine particulate concentrations in eastern China. The development of widely recognized policies for controlling O3 pollution episodes is urgent. This study aims to provide actionable and comprehensive suggestions for O3 control policy development, with an emphasis on the precursor emission reductions. Here, we compared the impacts of different spatial scale reductions on a widespread O3 pollution episode in eastern China by a state-of-the-art regional air quality model. We find that region-scale joint control (in >30 cities) is much more effective than city-scale sporadic reduction in reducing O3 concentration. Sporadic controls only reduce the maximum daily 8-h average (MDA8) O3 by ∼1 μg/m3 in the controlled city, whereas regional controls lead to a MDA8 O3 decrease of ∼8 μg/m3 in the controlled region. In addition, the emission reduction effectiveness increased by 2.6 times from <5 cities to >30 cities. Continuous reductions have a cumulative effect on the decrease of MDA8 O3, showing the strongest effects within 24 h and diminishing after 48 h, which underscores the importance of reducing emissions 24 h prior to an episode. Moreover, the effect of control measures on MDA8 O3 varies spatially depending on the ratio of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) to nitrogen oxides (NOx) (VOCs/NOx). Both the reductions of VOC and NOx emissions have a positive effect on the decrease of MDA8 O3 in summer, but the effects of VOC reductions are 1.2 to 1.7 times higher than those of NOx reductions. The residential sector, due to its high VOCs/NOx emission ratio, exhibits the highest efficiency in the reduction of O3 concentrations. Our results highlight the importance of regional joint control and synergistic reduction of VOCs and NOx in eastern China.

Abstract
To investigate the correlation of melanoma-associated antigen-C gene expression with clinicopathologic characteristics and prognosis in patients with breast cancer through a meta-analysis. PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane, CNKI, Wanfang and VIP databases were searched from the establishment of the databases to December 2022. The New castle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) was used for literature quality evaluation, and meta-analysis of all studies was performed using Rev Man 5.3 and Stata14.0. A total of 11 studies and 1146 samples were included in the meta-analysis. High expression of MAGE-C gene was significantly correlated with tumor grade (OR = 8.06, 95%CI:4.14-15.67, P < .00001), lymph node metastasis (OR = 8.06, 95%CI:4.14-15.67, P < .00001), tumor type (OR = 0.36, 95%CI: 0.23-0.49, P < .00001), tumor stage (OR = 0.14, 95%CI: 0.05-0.38, P = .0001<.05), ER expression (OR = 0.14, 95%CI: 0.05-0.38, P = .0001<.05), HER-2 expression (OR = 0.24, 95%CI:0.11-0.57, P = .001<.05) and tumor embolus (OR = 0.24, 95%CI:0.11-0.57, P = .001<.05). In addition, the MAGE-C expression was correlated with the reduced overall survival (HR = 2.13, 95%CI: 1.52-2.99, P < .0001), recurrence-free survival (HR = 2.59, 95%CI:1.47-4.56, P = .0010) and metastasis-free survival (OR = 2.52, 95%CI: 1.38-4.59, P = .003). The high expression of MAGE-C gene is closely related to some clinicopathological parameters and poor prognosis of breast cancer, which may be used as a potential biomarker to determine the prognosis of breast cancer.
