Abstract
INTRODUCTION Hip arthroplasty is a common orthopaedic procedure worldwide. There is an ongoing debate related to the fixation and anaesthesia impact on the 30-day mortality, particularly in the aging population with higher American Society of Anaesthesiology (ASA) Physical-Status. AIM To study the 30-day all-cause mortality in patients undergoing primary hip arthroplasty, with regards to the impact of age, ASA-class, anaesthesia techniques, indication for surgery and fixation techniques. MATERIALS AND METHODS Perioperative data for primary hip arthroplasty procedures for osteoarthritis and hip fractures registered in the Swedish Perioperative Registry (SPOR) between 2013 and June 2022 were collected. Binary logistic regressions were performed to assess the impact of age, ASA-class, anaesthetic technique, indication for surgery and fixation on odds ratio for 30-day mortality in Sweden. RESULTS In total, 79,114 patients, 49,565 with osteoarthritis and 29,549 with hip fractures were included in the main study cohort. Mortality was significantly higher among hip fracture patients compared with osteoarthritis, cumulative 8.2% versus 0.1% at 30-days respectively (p < 0.001). Age above 80 years (OR3.7), ASA 3-5 (OR3.3) and surgery for hip fracture (OR 21.5) were associated with significantly higher odds ratio, while hybrid fixation was associated with a significantly lower odds ratio (OR0.4) of 30-day mortality. In the same model, for the subgroups of osteoarthritis and hip fracture, only age (OR 3.7) and ASA-class (OR 3.3) had significant impact, increasing the odds ratio for 30-day mortality. Hemi arthroplasty was commonly used among the hip fracture patients 20.453 (69.2%), and associated with a significantly higher odds ratio for all-cause 30-day mortality as compared to total hip arthroplasty when adjusting for age and ASA-class and fixation 2.3 (95%CI 1.9-2.3, p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS All-cause 30-day mortality associated with arthroplasty differed significantly between the two cohorts, hip fracture, and osteoarthritis (8.2% and 0.1% respectively) and mortality expectedly increased with age and higher ASA-class. Anaesthetic method and cement-fixation did not impact the odds ratio for all-cause 30-day mortality after adjustment for age and ASA-class.

Abstract
This Letter presents the first study of Higgs boson production in association with a vector boson (V=W or Z) in the fully hadronic qqbb final state using data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb^{-1}. The vector bosons and Higgs bosons are each reconstructed as large-radius jets and tagged using jet substructure techniques. Dedicated tagging algorithms exploiting b-tagging properties are used to identify jets consistent with Higgs bosons decaying into bb[over ¯]. Dominant backgrounds from multijet production are determined directly from the data, and a likelihood fit to the jet mass distribution of Higgs boson candidates is used to extract the number of signal events. The VH production cross section is measured inclusively and differentially in several ranges of Higgs boson transverse momentum: 250-450, 450-650, and greater than 650 GeV. The inclusive signal yield relative to the standard model expectation is observed to be μ=1.4_{-0.9}^{+1.0} and the corresponding cross section is 3.1±1.3(stat)_{-1.4}^{+1.8}(syst) pb.

Abstract
ATLAS measured the centrality dependence of the dijet yield using 165 nb^{-1} of p+Pb data collected at sqrt[s_{NN}]=8.16 TeV in 2016. The event centrality, which reflects the p+Pb impact parameter, is characterized by the total transverse energy registered in the Pb-going side of the forward calorimeter. The central-to-peripheral ratio of the scaled dijet yields, R_{CP}, is evaluated, and the results are presented as a function of variables that reflect the kinematics of the initial hard parton scattering process. The R_{CP} shows a scaling with the Bjorken x of the parton originating from the proton, x_{p}, while no such trend is observed as a function of x_{Pb}. This analysis provides unique input to understanding the role of small proton spatial configurations in p+Pb collisions by covering parton momentum fractions from the valence region down to x_{p}∼10^{-3} and x_{Pb}∼4×10^{-4}.

Abstract
Searches for new resonances are performed using an unsupervised anomaly-detection technique. Events with at least one electron or muon are selected from 140 fb^{-1} of pp collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV recorded by ATLAS at the Large Hadron Collider. The approach involves training an autoencoder on data, and subsequently defining anomalous regions based on the reconstruction loss of the decoder. Studies focus on nine invariant mass spectra that contain pairs of objects consisting of one light jet or b jet and either one lepton (e,μ), photon, or second light jet or b jet in the anomalous regions. No significant deviations from the background hypotheses are observed. Limits on contributions from generic Gaussian signals with various widths of the resonance mass are obtained for nine invariant masses in the anomalous regions.

Abstract
This Letter reports the observation of WZγ production and a measurement of its cross section using 140.1±1.2 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The WZγ production cross section, with both the W and Z bosons decaying leptonically, pp→WZγ→ℓ^{'}^{±}νℓ^{+}ℓ^{-}γ (ℓ^{(^{'})}=e, μ), is measured in a fiducial phase-space region defined such that the leptons and the photon have high transverse momentum and the photon is isolated. The cross section is found to be 2.01±0.30(stat)±0.16(syst) fb. The corresponding standard model predicted cross section calculated at next-to-leading order in perturbative quantum chromodynamics and at leading order in the electroweak coupling constant is 1.50±0.06 fb. The observed significance of the WZγ signal is 6.3σ, compared with an expected significance of 5.0σ.

Abstract
A measurement of the mass of the Higgs boson combining the H→ZZ^{*}→4ℓ and H→γγ decay channels is presented. The result is based on 140 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data collected by the ATLAS detector during LHC run 2 at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV combined with the run 1 ATLAS mass measurement, performed at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, yielding a Higgs boson mass of 125.11±0.09(stat)±0.06(syst)=125.11±0.11 GeV. This corresponds to a 0.09% precision achieved on this fundamental parameter of the Standard Model of particle physics.

Abstract
A search for events with a dark photon produced in association with a dark Higgs boson via rare decays of the standard model Z boson is presented, using 139 fb^{-1} of sqrt[s]=13 TeV proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The dark boson decays into a pair of dark photons, and at least two of the three dark photons must each decay into a pair of electrons or muons, resulting in at least two same-flavor opposite-charge lepton pairs in the final state. The data are found to be consistent with the background prediction, and upper limits are set on the dark photon's coupling to the dark Higgs boson times the kinetic mixing between the standard model photon and the dark photon, α_{D}ϵ^{2}, in the dark photon mass range of [5, 40] GeV except for the ϒ mass window [8.8, 11.1] GeV. This search explores new parameter space not previously excluded by other experiments.

Abstract
A new dark sector antibaryon, denoted ψ_{D}, could be produced in decays of B mesons. This Letter presents a search for B^{+}→ψ_{D}+p (and the charge conjugate) decays in e^{+}e^{-} annihilations at 10.58 GeV, using data collected in the BABAR experiment. Data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 398 fb^{-1} are analyzed. No evidence for a signal is observed. Branching fraction upper limits in the range from 10^{-7}-10^{-5} are obtained at 90% confidence level for masses of 1.0

Abstract
This Letter reports the observation of single top quarks produced together with a photon, which directly probes the electroweak coupling of the top quark. The analysis uses 139 fb^{-1} of 13 TeV proton-proton collision data collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Requiring a photon with transverse momentum larger than 20 GeV and within the detector acceptance, the fiducial cross section is measured to be 688±23(stat) _{-71}^{+75}(syst) fb, to be compared with the standard model prediction of 515_{-42}^{+36} fb at next-to-leading order in QCD.

The measurement is performed using 1.72 nb^{-1} and 257 pb^{-1} of Pb+Pb and pp data, respectively. Abstract
A key open question in the study of multiparticle production in high-energy pp collisions is the relationship between the "ridge"-i.e., the observed azimuthal correlations between particles in the underlying event that extend over all rapidities-and hard or semihard scattering processes. In particular, it is not known whether jets or their soft fragments are correlated with particles in the underlying event. To address this question, two-particle correlations are measured in pp collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV using data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, with an integrated luminosity of 15.8 pb^{-1}, in two different configurations. In the first case, charged particles associated with jets are excluded from the correlation analysis, while in the second case, correlations are measured between particles within jets and charged particles from the underlying event. Second-order flow coefficients, v_{2}, are presented as a function of event multiplicity and transverse momentum. These measurements show that excluding particles associated with jets does not affect the measured correlations. Moreover, particles associated with jets do not exhibit any significant azimuthal correlations with the underlying event, ruling out hard processes contributing to the ridge.

Abstract
A search is made for potential ccc[over ¯]c[over ¯] tetraquarks decaying into a pair of charmonium states in the four muon final state using proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^{-1} recorded by the ATLAS experiment at LHC. Two decay channels, J/ψ+J/ψ→4μ and J/ψ+ψ(2S)→4μ, are studied. Backgrounds are estimated based on a hybrid approach involving Monte Carlo simulations and data-driven methods. Statistically significant excesses with respect to backgrounds dominated by the single parton scattering are seen in the di-J/ψ channel consistent with a narrow resonance at 6.9 GeV and a broader structure at lower mass. A statistically significant excess is also seen in the J/ψ+ψ(2S) channel. The fitted masses and decay widths of the structures are reported.

Abstract
This Letter reports the observation of τ-lepton-pair production in ultraperipheral lead-lead collisions Pb+Pb→Pb(γγ→ττ)Pb and constraints on the τ-lepton anomalous magnetic moment a_{τ}. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.44 nb^{-1} of LHC Pb+Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment in 2018. Selected events contain one muon from a τ-lepton decay, an electron or charged-particle track(s) from the other τ-lepton decay, little additional central-detector activity, and no forward neutrons. The γγ→ττ process is observed in Pb+Pb collisions with a significance exceeding 5 standard deviations and a signal strength of μ_{ττ}=1.03_{-0.05}^{+0.06} assuming the standard model value for a_{τ}. To measure a_{τ}, a template fit to the muon transverse-momentum distribution from τ-lepton candidates is performed, using a dimuon (γγ→μμ) control sample to constrain systematic uncertainties. The observed 95% confidence-level interval for a_{τ} is -0.057

Abstract
Jet quenching is the process of color-charged partons losing energy via interactions with quark-gluon plasma droplets created in heavy-ion collisions. The collective expansion of such droplets is well described by viscous hydrodynamics. Similar evidence of collectivity is consistently observed in smaller collision systems, including pp and p+Pb collisions. In contrast, while jet quenching is observed in Pb+Pb collisions, no evidence has been found in these small systems to date, raising fundamental questions about the nature of the system created in these collisions. The ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider has measured the yield of charged hadrons correlated with reconstructed jets in 0.36 nb^{-1} of p+Pb and 3.6 pb^{-1} of pp collisions at 5.02 TeV. The yields of charged hadrons with p_{T}^{ch}>0.5 GeV near and opposite in azimuth to jets with p_{T}^{jet}>30 or 60 GeV, and the ratios of these yields between p+Pb and pp collisions, I_{pPb}, are reported. The collision centrality of p+Pb events is categorized by the energy deposited by forward neutrons from the struck nucleus. The I_{pPb} values are consistent with unity within a few percent for hadrons with p_{T}^{ch}>4 GeV at all centralities. These data provide new, strong constraints that preclude almost any parton energy loss in central p+Pb collisions.

A search for a long-lived, heavy neutral lepton (N) in 139 fb^{-1} of sqrt[s]=13 TeV pp collision data collected by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider is reported. The N is produced via W→Nμ or W→Ne and decays into two charged leptons and a neutrino, forming a displaced vertex. The N mass is used to discriminate between signal and background. No signal is observed, and limits are set on the squared mixing parameters of the N with the left-handed neutrino states for the N mass range 3 GeV

Abstract
A test of CP invariance in Higgs boson production via vector-boson fusion has been performed in the H→γγ channel using 139 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The optimal observable method is used to probe the CP structure of interactions between the Higgs boson and electroweak gauge bosons, as described by an effective field theory. No sign of CP violation is observed in the data. Constraints are set on the parameters describing the strength of the CP-odd component in the coupling between the Higgs boson and the electroweak gauge bosons in two effective field theory bases: d[over ˜] in the HISZ basis and c_{HW[over ˜]} in the Warsaw basis. The results presented are the most stringent constraints on CP violation in the coupling between Higgs and weak bosons. The 95% C.L. constraint on d[over ˜] is derived for the first time and the 95% C.L. constraint on c_{HW[over ˜]} has been improved by a factor of 5 compared to the previous measurement.

Abstract
The temperature dependence of core mode resonance has been thoroughly studied in fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs), but it is not the case for cladding mode resonances in multi-resonance gratings such as tilted FBGs (TFBGs). In this work, the temperature sensitivity of ultraviolet written TFBGs in SMF-28 fibers is assessed, demonstrating in the first, to the best of our knowledge, place that a single gauge factor K T =6.25⋅10-6±0.02⋅10-6 ∘ C -1 can be employed to characterize the response to temperature of the resonances over the full spectrum in the 10°-50°C range. Then, a simulation model is obtained, enabling to predict TFBG spectra in the 10°-50°C range with high accuracy. This requires a calibration of the core index and dispersion of the TFBG measured in air at 25°C, and determination of the glass refractive index thermo-optic coefficient (d n/d T=8.46⋅10-6±0.1⋅10-6 ∘ C -1, common to both core and cladding glasses), leading to a mean error on the wavelength position of resonances between 1 and 3 pm. This mean error can be further reduced (less than 1 pm) by considering a linear dependence with temperature of d n/d T. Therefore, this model will enable to completely remove the temperature-induced shifts of all resonances in TFBG sensing applications and measure with great accuracy the variables of interest by using the scaled averages of groups of resonances instead of (less accurate) individual shifts.

Introduction
In heart failure (HF), chronotropic incompetence is a major factor limiting cardiac output and exercise capacity. In patients carrying cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIED), accelerometer-based rate adaption (R-mode) counterbalances chronotropic incompetence during physical activity but fails to modulate heart rate under circumstances of high metabolic demand.
Purpose
We hypothesized that an activated R-mode, a surrogate of chronotropic incompetence, indicates worse prognosis during and after episodes of acutely decompensated HF (AHF).
Methods
We analysed 632 patients enrolled between 01/2014 and 02/2018 in an ongoing registry that phenotypes and follows patients admitted for AHF. We compared CIED carriers with activated R-mode (CIED-R; n=37, 16% women) with CIED carriers not in R-mode (CIED-0; n=64, 23% women) and patients without CIEDs (no-CIED; n=511, 43% women). Information on survival status was collected up to 12 months after discharge from index hospitalisation (IH). Uni- and multivariable Cox proportional hazard regression was used to identify predictors of 12-month mortality risk.
Results
Mean age of the study sample was 74 (11) years, 39% were women, median LVEF on admission was 51 (quartiles 32, 59) % and de novo HF was detected in 20% of all patients. Median length of IH was 10 (7, 14) days. In-hospital mortality was similar across groups, but 12-month mortality risk was affected by chronotropic incompetence as indicated by R-mode activation: age- and sex-associated hazard ratio (HR) for CIED-R was 2.61 (95% CI 1.59–4.29, p<0.001) compared to group no-CIED, and 2.44 (95% CI 1.25–4.74, p=0.009) compared to group CIED-0. Amongst univariable predictors of mortality risk, strong associations were found for NT-proBNP levels (p<0.001), Charlson comorbidity index (p=0.001), and de novo HF (p=0.003). These effects persisted after multivariable adjustment for comorbidity burden. Within CIED-R, mortality risk was similar in patients with pacemakers vs. ICDs (HR 1.20, 95% CI 0.49–2.95) and in subgroups with LVEF <50% vs. ≥50% (HR 1.10, 95% CI 0.79–1.53). Mean heart rate on admission was lower in CIED-R vs. CIED-0 or no-CIED (70 bpm vs. 80 bpm or 82 bpm; both p<0.001). Heart rate on admission had no impact on frequency of in-hospital worsenings or death. However, we found a 36% increase in mortality risk per tertile of heart rate at discharge (HR 1.36, 95% CI 1.10–1.69, p=0.004) after exclusion of patients with an activated R-mode.
Conclusion
In AHF, R-mode stimulation was associated with an increased 12-month mortality risk, independent of LVEF, type of CIED, burden of comorbidities and type of presentation. Further, increased resting heart rate at discharge predicted 12-month mortality risk only in patients without an activated R-mode. Our findings suggest that chronotropic incompetence per se worsens outcome in AHF and may not be adequately treated through accelerometer-based R-mode stimulation.

Background
Mid-regional proadrenomedullin (MR-proADM) is a blood biomarker indicating critical illness. Its short-term prognostic relevance has been investigated in several conditions including heart failure (HF). Yet, the long-term prognostic utility is unknown.
Methods
We conducted a post-hoc analysis of the Extended Interdisciplinary Network for Heart Failure (E-INH) study, which investigated the long-term effects of a HF nurse-led remote patient care program (HeartNetCare-HFTM [HNC]). Patients from nine regional centers in Germany hospitalized with HF and a left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) <40% were randomized into HNC vs. Usual Care. MR-proADM and other standard biomarkers for disease progression and systemic inflammation were measured from venous blood collected at study inclusion, i.e. during index hospitalization. The prognostic utility was assessed using Kaplan-Meier plots and Cox proportional hazard models, and compared with other biomarkers by ROC curves.
Results
From 919 out of the 1022 recruited patients (90%), baseline levels of MR-proADM were available: median MR-proADM 0.89 (quartiles 0.63, 1.28) nmol/l; mean age 68±12 years; 28% women; 45% in class III or IV of the New York Heart Association (NYHA) classification.
Median LVEF was 31 (25, 37) %. Median levels of NT-proBNP, high sensitive C-reactive protein (hsCRP), tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-a, and interleukin-6 (IL-6) were 3045 (1087, 7759) pg/ml, 9.2 (3.3, 25.2) mg/l, 13.4 (10.4, 17.5) pg/ml, and 4.9 (2.0, 11.4) pg/ml, respectively. Higher levels of MR-proADM at baseline were associated with age, female sex, NYHA class, NT-proBNP, hsCRP, IL-6, and TNF-α, while there was an inverse association with LVEF.
In the course of 10 years of follow-up, 691 (68%) patients died. Unadjusted MR-proADM strongly predicted all-cause death when used as a continuous variable (HR 1.31 per nmol/l, 95% CI 1.26–1.37; p<0.001) or when grouped into quartiles (HR 1.85, 95% CI 1.71–2.0; p<0.001). Adjustments for age, sex and NYHA functional class did not materially alter the strong association. Plotting quartiles of MR-proADM in a Kaplan-Meier curve (see Figure 1) confirmed this findings. As shown in Figure 2, MR-proADM had the highest area under the curve (AUC) in ROC analysis when compared to other biomarkers.
Conclusion
MR-proADM appears to be a strong and independent predictor for long-term all-cause mortality risk in HF with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). Therefore, assessing MR-proADM may contribute to better categorization of risk and tailored care. Its clinical utility needs to be investigated in future studies.

Abstract
This Letter reports the observation of WWW production and a measurement of its cross section using 139 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Events with two same-sign leptons (electrons or muons) and at least two jets, as well as events with three charged leptons, are selected. A multivariate technique is then used to discriminate between signal and background events. Events from WWW production are observed with a significance of 8.0 standard deviations, where the expectation is 5.4 standard deviations. The inclusive WWW production cross section is measured to be 820±100 (stat)±80 (syst) fb, approximately 2.6 standard deviations from the predicted cross section of 511±18 fb calculated at next-to-leading-order QCD and leading-order electroweak accuracy.

Abstract
The standard model of particle physics1-4 describes the known fundamental particles and forces that make up our Universe, with the exception of gravity. One of the central features of the standard model is a field that permeates all of space and interacts with fundamental particles5-9. The quantum excitation of this field, known as the Higgs field, manifests itself as the Higgs boson, the only fundamental particle with no spin. In 2012, a particle with properties consistent with the Higgs boson of the standard model was observed by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN10,11. Since then, more than 30 times as many Higgs bosons have been recorded by the ATLAS experiment, enabling much more precise measurements and new tests of the theory. Here, on the basis of this larger dataset, we combine an unprecedented number of production and decay processes of the Higgs boson to scrutinize its interactions with elementary particles. Interactions with gluons, photons, and W and Z bosons-the carriers of the strong, electromagnetic and weak forces-are studied in detail. Interactions with three third-generation matter particles (bottom (b) and top (t) quarks, and tau leptons (τ)) are well measured and indications of interactions with a second-generation particle (muons, μ) are emerging. These tests reveal that the Higgs boson discovered ten years ago is remarkably consistent with the predictions of the theory and provide stringent constraints on many models of new phenomena beyond the standard model.

Abstract
BackgroundGout patients are at increased risk for developing chronic kidney disease (CKD)1 and hyperuricemia is an independent risk factor for CKD worsening,2,3 particularly in women.3 As a result, renal function is of concern in uncontrolled gout patients. Pegloticase, a recombinant PEGylated uricase, can rapidly decrease serum uric acid levels (sUA) in uncontrolled gout patients, but with pegloticase monotherapy <50% have sustained urate-lowering during Month 6 of treatment.4 Pegloticase treatment response rate is markedly higher when immunomodulating therapies such as methotrexate (MTX) are co-administered,5,6 but MTX use can be limited by renal impairment. Clinical trials excluded CKD patients, but real-world published cases of immunomodulation-pegloticase co-therapy have included patients with a pre-therapy eGFR <60 ml/min/1.73 m2.ObjectivesThis study examined pooled case data from prior studies, focusing on renal function changes during MTX-pegloticase co-treatment in patients with and without pre-therapy CKD.MethodsThis retrospective study examined deidentified case data collected for prior retrospective studies.7-9 All patients who underwent MTX-pegloticase co-therapy were included and categorized as CKD (baseline eGFR <60 ml/min/1.73 m2) or non-CKD (baseline eGFR ≥60 ml/min/1.73 m2). sUA, renal function, blood cell counts, and liver function were closely monitored during therapy. Patient characteristics, pegloticase treatment parameters, proportion of treatment responders (≥12 infusions received and sUA <6 mg/dL at infusion 12 [ongoing patients with <12 infusions excluded]), renal function changes (eGFR, CKD stage), and adverse events were examined.Results15 uncontrolled gout patients with CKD (9 stage 3a, 4 stage 3b, 2 stage 4; pre-therapy mean[±SD] eGFR: 43.2±11.3 ml/min/1.73 m2, sUA: 8.5±2.2 mg/dL) and 27 without CKD (pre-therapy eGFR: 82.9±19.0 ml/min/1.73 m2; sUA: 9.5±1.7 mg/dL) were included. Patient characteristics and comorbidity profiles were similar, but CKD patients were older (72.0±9.9 vs. 52.3±14.3 yrs) and more often female (33% vs. 7%). On average, MTX was initiated ~4 wks before pegloticase in both CKD status groups. MTX dose was lower in CKD patients (14.8±5.8 vs. 19.3±4.9 mg/wk). Pegloticase treatment was similar between groups (CKD: 14.7±8.1 infusions over 28.5±17.1 wks, non-CKD: 14.1±7.1 infusions over 27.9±15.1 wks), with similar urate-lowering response rate (92% vs. 86%). eGFR increased during therapy in 60% and 44% of CKD and non-CKD patients, respectively, with mean eGFR increase of 11.5±20.9 and 4.2±15.0 ml/min/1.73m2, respectively. In the CKD group, CKD stage either improved or was stable in 13/15 patients (87%). The 2 patients with CKD progression both moved from stage 3a to 3b, and both stage 4 CKD patients had an eGFR increase, improving to stage 3a. In the non-CKD group, 3 patients developed stage 3 CKD (2 stage 3a, 1 stage 3b). 7/15 (47%) CKD and 13/27 (48%) non-CKD patients had ≥1 AE noted, with gout flare most reported (47% vs. 41%). A mild infusion reaction and pancytopenia occurred in 1 non-CKD patient each.ConclusionIn this retrospective real-world review of a limited number of cases, MTX-pegloticase co-therapy resulted in sustained sUA lowering in uncontrolled gout patients with and without CKD. Close monitoring of renal function indicated stability or improvement during therapy in 86% of uncontrolled gout patients with CKD. BackgroundAcute gout flares are a known result of urate-lowering in gout patients1 and are the most common adverse event in patients treated with pegloticase.2 Fortunately, the proportion of pegloticase-treated patients who experience flares and the number of flares/patient decrease over time.3 Though well-studied in the clinical trial setting, little has been published on the rate of acute gout flares during pegloticase therapy in a real-world, rheumatology setting. This retrospective study examined one community practice’s findings on gout flares in uncontrolled gout patients co-treated with pegloticase and methotrexate.ObjectivesThis retrospective chart review examined acute gout flare occurrence and characteristics in patients undergoing pegloticase-methotrexate co-therapy. Patients with and without gout flares were also compared to investigate potential factors that may have influenced gout flare.MethodsAll patients who underwent pegloticase plus methotrexate co-therapy between January 2017 and March 2021 at a community rheumatology practice were included. Patient, treatment, and flare characteristics were extracted from the medical record and compiled into a de-identified data set.Results29 patients treated with pegloticase and methotrexate (28 subcutaneous, 1 oral) were included. Mean patient age was 59.9±17.0 years and 79% were male. Gout duration was 11.7±10.8 years, pre-therapy serum uric acid (sUA) averaged 9.4±1.8 mg/dL, and 97% had visible tophi. Patients had received 12.8±14.3 pegloticase infusions over 25.1±9.7 weeks, with pre-infusion sUA<6 mg/dL in 27/29 patients (93%) at last pegloticase dosing. 23 gout flares were noted in 12 patients (41%, 1.9±1.8 flares/patient), 59% of which were noted as severe and 50% involved a single joint. Acute gout flare was most common in the first 4 weeks of therapy, with first flare occurring a mean of 3.4±2.1 weeks after first pegloticase infusion. Demographic and treatment characteristics were similar between flaring and non-flaring patients. However, patients with ≥1 flare were older (65.8±15.4 years vs. 55.6±17.8 years), more often obese (83% vs. 47%), and had an overall higher comorbidity burden.ConclusionThis retrospective study of real-world pegloticase use suggests that gout flare rates may be lower in a real-world setting (41%) than that reported in clinical trials (76─86%2,3), which have different gout flare criteria. Consistent with clinical trials,2,3 flare rate was highest during the first 4 weeks of pegloticase treatment, progressively decreasing over time. Interestingly, these data suggest that patients who experience gout flares on pegloticase may have more obesity and a higher comorbidity burden than those who do not experience flares. Abstract
Large Amazonian rivers impede dispersal for many species, but lowland river networks frequently rearrange, thereby altering the location and effectiveness of river barriers through time. These rearrangements may promote biotic diversification by facilitating episodic allopatry and secondary contact among populations. We sequenced genome-wide markers to evaluate the histories of divergence and introgression in six Amazonian avian species complexes. We first tested the assumption that rivers are barriers for these taxa and found that even relatively small rivers facilitate divergence. We then tested whether species diverged with gene flow and recovered reticulate histories for all species, including one potential case of hybrid speciation. Our results support the hypothesis that river rearrangements promote speciation and reveal that many rainforest taxa are micro-endemic, unrecognized, and thus threatened with imminent extinction. We propose that Amazonian hyper-diversity originates partly from fine-scale barrier displacement processes-including river dynamics-which allow small populations to differentiate and disperse into secondary contact.

Abstract
Axionlike particles (ALPs) are predicted in many extensions of the standard model, and their masses can naturally be well below the electroweak scale. In the presence of couplings to electroweak bosons, these particles could be emitted in flavor-changing B meson decays. We report herein a search for an ALP, a, in the reaction B^{±}→K^{±}a, a→γγ using data collected by the BABAR experiment at SLAC. No significant signal is observed, and 90% confidence level upper limits on the ALP coupling to electroweak bosons are derived as a function of ALP mass, improving current constraints by several orders of magnitude in the range 0.175 GeV<m_{a}<4.78 GeV.

Abstract
We report on the first search for electron-muon lepton flavor violation (LFV) in the decay of a b quark and b antiquark bound state. We look for the LFV decay ϒ(3S)→e^{±}μ^{∓} in a sample of 118 million ϒ(3S) mesons from 27 fb^{-1} of data collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II e^{+}e^{-} collider operating with a 10.36 GeV center-of-mass energy. No evidence for a signal is found, and we set a limit on the branching fraction B[ϒ(3S)→e^{±}μ^{∓}]<3.6×10^{-7} at 90% C. L. This result can be interpreted as a limit Λ_{NP}/g_{NP}^{2}>80 TeV on the energy scale Λ_{NP} divided by the coupling-squared g_{NP}^{2} of relevant new physics (NP).

Abstract
Collider searches for dark sectors, new particles interacting only feebly with ordinary matter, have largely focused on identifying signatures of new mediators, leaving much of dark sector structures unexplored. In particular, the existence of dark matter bound states (darkonia) remains to be investigated. This possibility could arise in a simple model in which a dark photon (A^{'}) is light enough to generate an attractive force between dark fermions. We report herein a search for a J^{PC}=1^{--} darkonium state, the ϒ_{D}, produced in the reaction e^{+}e^{-}→γϒ_{D}, ϒ_{D}→A^{'}A^{'}A^{'}, where the dark photons subsequently decay into pairs of leptons or pions, using 514 fb^{-1} of data collected with the BABAR detector. No significant signal is observed, and we set bounds on the γ-A^{'} kinetic mixing as a function of the dark sector coupling constant for 0.001<m_{A^{'}}<3.16 GeV and 0.05<m_{ϒ_{D}}<9.5 GeV.

Abstract
A search for lepton-flavor-violating Z→eτ and Z→μτ decays with pp collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC is presented. This analysis uses 139 fb^{-1} of Run 2 pp collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV and is combined with the results of a similar ATLAS search in the final state in which the τ lepton decays hadronically, using the same data set as well as Run 1 data. The addition of leptonically decaying τ leptons significantly improves the sensitivity reach for Z→ℓτ decays. The Z→ℓτ branching fractions are constrained in this analysis to B(Z→eτ)<7.0×10^{-6} and B(Z→μτ)<7.2×10^{-6} at 95% confidence level. The combination with the previously published analyses sets the strongest constraints to date: B(Z→eτ)<5.0×10^{-6} and B(Z→μτ)<6.5×10^{-6} at 95% confidence level.

Abstract
We describe our efforts to overcome barriers to patient engagement in facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) and offer a roadmap that can be replicated in other rare neurologic disorders. We implemented an engagement plan during Clinical Trial Readiness to Solve Barriers to Drug Development for FSHD (ReSolve), an 18-month, multisite, observational study of individuals with FSHD. Elements of our engagement plan included conducting focus groups during protocol development, patient involvement on the ReSolve external advisory committee, creation of a patient advisory committee, and collaboration with patient advocacy groups. Patient feedback led to adaptations in the study protocol and to changes in recruitment and retention methods. Patient engagement ensures that the patient voice contributes to multiple aspects of trial design and implementation. Our engagement efforts exemplify how collaboration with patients and families can be accomplished in FSHD and the resultant roadmap process may be replicable in other rare neurologic diseases.

Abstract
A search for new phenomena is presented in final states with two leptons and one or no b-tagged jets. The event selection requires the two leptons to have opposite charge, the same flavor (electrons or muons), and a large invariant mass. The analysis is based on the full run-2 proton-proton collision dataset recorded at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13 TeV by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb^{-1}. No significant deviation from the expected background is observed in the data. Inspired by the B-meson decay anomalies, a four-fermion contact interaction between two quarks (b, s) and two leptons (ee or μμ) is used as a benchmark signal model, which is characterized by the energy scale and coupling, Λ and g_{*}, respectively. Contact interactions with Λ/g_{*} lower than 2.0 (2.4) TeV are excluded for electrons (muons) at the 95% confidence level, still far below the value that is favored by the B-meson decay anomalies. Model-independent limits are set as a function of the minimum dilepton invariant mass, which allow the results to be reinterpreted in various signal scenarios.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In Sweden, social restrictions to contain SARS-CoV-2 have primarily relied upon voluntary adherence to a set of recommendations. Strict lockdowns have not been enforced, potentially affecting viral dissemination. To understand the levels of past SARS-CoV-2 infection in the Stockholm population before the start of mass vaccinations, healthy blood donors and pregnant women (n = 5,100) were sampled at random between 14 March 2020 and 28 February 2021. METHODS In this cross-sectional prospective study, otherwise-healthy blood donors (n = 2,600) and pregnant women (n = 2,500) were sampled for consecutive weeks (at four intervals) throughout the study period. Sera from all participants and a cohort of historical (negative) controls (n = 595) were screened for IgG responses against stabilized trimers of the SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) glycoprotein and the smaller receptor-binding domain (RBD). As a complement to standard analytical approaches, a probabilistic (cut-off independent) Bayesian framework that assigns likelihood of past infection was used to analyse data over time. SETTING Healthy participant samples were randomly selected from their respective pools through Karolinska University Hospital. The study was carried out in accordance with Swedish Ethical Review Authority: registration number 2020-01807. PARTICIPANTS No participants were symptomatic at sampling, and blood donors were all over the age of 18. No additional metadata were available from the participants. RESULTS Blood donors and pregnant women showed a similar seroprevalence. After a steep rise at the start of the pandemic, the seroprevalence trajectory increased steadily in approach to the winter second wave of infections, approaching 15% of all individuals surveyed by 13 December 2020. By the end of February 2021, 19% of the population tested seropositive. Notably, 96% of seropositive healthy donors screened (n = 56) developed neutralizing antibody responses at titres comparable to or higher than those observed in clinical trials of SARS-CoV-2 spike mRNA vaccination, supporting that mild infection engenders a competent B-cell response. CONCLUSIONS These data indicate that in the first year since the start of community transmission, seropositivity levels in metropolitan in Stockholm had reached approximately one in five persons, providing important baseline seroprevalence information prior to the start of vaccination.

Abstract
A search for charged leptons with large impact parameters using 139 fb^{-1} of sqrt[s]=13 TeV pp collision data from the ATLAS detector at the LHC is presented, addressing a long-standing gap in coverage of possible new physics signatures. Results are consistent with the background prediction. This search provides unique sensitivity to long-lived scalar supersymmetric lepton partners (sleptons). For lifetimes of 0.1 ns, selectron, smuon, and stau masses up to 720, 680, and 340 GeV, respectively, are excluded at 95% confidence level, drastically improving on the previous best limits from LEP.

Abstract
The first measurement of longitudinal decorrelations of harmonic flow amplitudes v_{n} for n=2-4 in Xe+Xe collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.44 TeV is obtained using 3 μb^{-1} of data with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The decorrelation signal for v_{3} and v_{4} is found to be nearly independent of collision centrality and transverse momentum (p_{T}) requirements on final-state particles, but for v_{2} a strong centrality and p_{T} dependence is seen. When compared with the results from Pb+Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV, the longitudinal decorrelation signal in midcentral Xe+Xe collisions is found to be larger for v_{2}, but smaller for v_{3}. Current hydrodynamic models reproduce the ratios of the v_{n} measured in Xe+Xe collisions to those in Pb+Pb collisions but fail to describe the magnitudes and trends of the ratios of longitudinal flow decorrelations between Xe+Xe and Pb+Pb. The results on the system-size dependence provide new insights and an important lever arm to separate effects of the longitudinal structure of the initial state from other early and late time effects in heavy-ion collisions.

Abstract
Several extensions of the Standard Model predict the production of dark matter particles at the LHC. An uncharted signature of dark matter particles produced in association with VV=W^{±}W^{∓} or ZZ pairs from a decay of a dark Higgs boson s is searched for using 139 fb^{-1} of pp collisions recorded by the ATLAS detector at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The s→V(qq[over ¯])V(qq[over ¯]) decays are reconstructed with a novel technique aimed at resolving the dense topology from boosted VV pairs using jets in the calorimeter and tracking information. Dark Higgs scenarios with m_{s}>160 GeV are excluded.

Abstract
The yield of charged particles opposite to a Z boson with large transverse momentum (p_{T}) is measured in 260 pb^{-1} of pp and 1.7 nb^{-1} of Pb+Pb collision data at 5.02 TeV per nucleon pair recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The Z boson tag is used to select hard-scattered partons with specific kinematics, and to observe how their showers are modified as they propagate through the quark-gluon plasma created in Pb+Pb collisions. Compared with pp collisions, charged-particle yields in Pb+Pb collisions show significant modifications as a function of charged-particle p_{T} in a way that depends on event centrality and Z boson p_{T}. The data are compared with a variety of theoretical calculations and provide new information about the medium-induced energy loss of partons in a p_{T} regime difficult to measure through other channels.

Abstract
The observation of forward proton scattering in association with lepton pairs (e^{+}e^{-}+p or μ^{+}μ^{-}+p) produced via photon fusion is presented. The scattered proton is detected by the ATLAS Forward Proton spectrometer, while the leptons are reconstructed by the central ATLAS detector. Proton-proton collision data recorded in 2017 at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13 TeV are analyzed, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 14.6 fb^{-1}. A total of 57 (123) candidates in the ee+p (μμ+p) final state are selected, allowing the background-only hypothesis to be rejected with a significance exceeding 5 standard deviations in each channel. Proton-tagging techniques are introduced for cross-section measurements in the fiducial detector acceptance, corresponding to σ_{ee+p}=11.0±2.6(stat)±1.2(syst)±0.3(lumi) and σ_{μμ+p}=7.2±1.6(stat)±0.9(syst)±0.2(lumi) fb in the dielectron and dimuon channel, respectively.

Abstract
This Letter presents a search for the production of new heavy resonances decaying into a Higgs boson and a photon using proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb^{-1}. The analysis is performed by reconstructing hadronically decaying Higgs boson (H→bb[over ¯]) candidates as single large-radius jets. A novel algorithm using information about the jet constituents in the center-of-mass frame of the jet is implemented to identify the two b quarks in the single jet. No significant excess of events is observed above the expected background. Upper limits are set on the production cross-section times branching fraction for narrow spin-1 resonances decaying into a Higgs boson and a photon in the resonance mass range from 0.7 to 4 TeV, cross-section times branching fractions are excluded between 11.6 fb and 0.11 fb at a 95% confidence level.

Abstract
We report on a precision measurement of the ratio R_{τμ}^{ϒ(3S)}=B(ϒ(3S)→τ^{+}τ^{-})/B(ϒ(3S)→μ^{+}μ^{-}) using data collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II e^{+}e^{-} collider. The measurement is based on a 28 fb^{-1} data sample collected at a center-of-mass energy of 10.355 GeV corresponding to a sample of 122 million ϒ(3S) mesons. The ratio is measured to be R_{τμ}^{ϒ(3S)}=0.966±0.008_{stat}±0.014_{syst} and is in agreement with the standard model prediction of 0.9948 within 2 standard deviations. The uncertainty in R_{τμ}^{ϒ(3S)} is almost an order of magnitude smaller than the only previous measurement.

Abstract
A search for Higgs boson decays into a Z boson and a light resonance in two-lepton plus jet events is performed, using a pp collision dataset with an integrated luminosity of 139 fb^{-1} collected at sqrt[s]=13 TeV by the ATLAS experiment at the CERN LHC. The resonance considered is a light boson with a mass below 4 GeV from a possible extended scalar sector or a charmonium state. Multivariate discriminants are used for the event selection and for evaluating the mass of the light resonance. No excess of events above the expected background is found. Observed (expected) 95% confidence-level upper limits are set on the Higgs boson production cross section times branching fraction to a Z boson and the signal resonance, with values in the range 17-340 pb (16_{-5}^{+6}-320_{-90}^{+130} pb) for the different light spin-0 boson mass and branching fraction hypotheses, and with values of 110 and 100 pb (100_{-30}^{+40} and 100_{-30}^{+40} pb) for the η_{c} and J/ψ hypotheses, respectively.

Background
To date, there are few prospective studies which characterize left ventricular diastolic dysfunction (LVDD) in patients with acute heart failure (AHF) using contemporary echo- and Doppler-techniques and take heart failure (HF) phenotype into account. Furthermore, prevalence and clinical correlates of different degrees of LVDD are unknown.
Purpose
To determine prevalence and echo characteristics of LVDD and identify clinical and biomarker correlates in patients hospitalized for AHF with either preserved (HFpEF, LVEF ≥50%) or reduced (HFrEF, LVEF <50%) LV systolic function.
Methods
The AHF Registry Würzburg enrols consecutive patients hospitalized for AHF. For the current analysis, patients with complete high-quality echo- and Doppler studies performed during the index hospitalization allowing for full quantitative analysis were eligible. Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) was determined using Simpson's biplane method. LVDD was graded according to 2016 ESC recommendations based on the E/A-ratio and markers of left ventricular (LV) filling pressure: E/E'-ratio, LA volume, and estimated systolic pulmonary artery pressure (sPAP, derived from peak tricuspid regurgitant flow velocity and estimated right atrial pressure). E/A-ratio <0.8 or E/A-ratio 0.8–2.0 without evidence of increased LV filling pressure was classified as LVDD°I, an E/A-ratio between 0.8–2.0 with evidence of elevated filling pressure as LVDD°II, and an E/A-ratio >2.0 as LVDD°III. LVDD prevalence rates were determined overall and in patients with HFrEF and HFpEF, respectively. Furthermore, other echocardiographic, clinical, and biomarker characteristics were studied.
Results
Overall, 155 patients were eligible (37.4% female, mean age 71.6±12.0 years, LVEF 45.7±17.8%, 49.7% HFpEF, 50.3% HFrEF). Most patients (83.9%) had Doppler evidence of increased filling pressures, with either LVDD°II (48.4%, LVEF 48.6±18.6%) or LVDD°III (35.5%, LVEF 40.3±15.4%). Overall, HFrEF-patients had higher rates of LVDD°III (47.4 vs 23.4%, p=0.002), while HFpEF-patients had higher rates of LVDD°II (58.4 vs 38.5%, p=0.013) (Figure). LVDD°I was present in only 16.1% of all patients (HFpEF: n=14, HFrEF: n=11, LVEF 48.9±15.4%). Compared to patients with LVDD°II-III, this subgroup had lower E/E'-ratio (11.7 vs 19.5 p<0.001), sPAP (30.9±15.8 vs 44±12.5 mmHg, p<0.001) and LA volume index (36.4±17.67 vs 53.5±21.0 ml/m2, p<0.001). Furthermore, NT-proBNP-levels were lower (median [IQR] 2236 [1336; 5204] vs 4125 [2390; 4125] pg/ml, p=0.042) and heart failure (HF) history shorter (56.0 vs 33.1% HF known <1 year, p=0.029).
Conclusion
Among patients hospitalized for AHF, the majority had significant LVDD, irrespective of LVEF. However, LVDD°II was more common in HFpEF, whereas HFrEF patients had more LVDD°III. Furthermore, the small subgroup with LVDD°I had less severe sPAP elevation, lower LA volume and NT-proBNP and a shorter HF history indicating a less advanced HF stage.

Abstract
Many scenarios of physics beyond the standard model predict the existence of new gauge singlets, which might be substantially lighter than the weak scale. The experimental constraints on additional scalars with masses in the MeV to GeV range could be significantly weakened if they interact predominantly with leptons rather than quarks. At an e^{+}e^{-} collider, such a leptophilic scalar (ϕ_{L}) would be produced predominantly through radiation from a τ lepton. We report herein a search for e^{+}e^{-}→τ^{+}τ^{-}ϕ_{L}, ϕ_{L}→ℓ^{+}ℓ^{-} (ℓ=e, μ) using data collected by the BABAR experiment at SLAC. No significant signal is observed, and we set limits on the ϕ_{L} coupling to leptons in the range 0.04<m_{ϕ_{L}}<7.0 GeV. These bounds significantly improve upon the current constraints, excluding almost entirely the parameter space favored by the observed discrepancy in the muon anomalous magnetic moment below 4 GeV at 90% confidence level.

Abstract
This Letter describes a search for narrowly resonant new physics using a machine-learning anomaly detection procedure that does not rely on signal simulations for developing the analysis selection. Weakly supervised learning is used to train classifiers directly on data to enhance potential signals. The targeted topology is dijet events and the features used for machine learning are the masses of the two jets. The resulting analysis is essentially a three-dimensional search A→BC, for m_{A}∼O(TeV), m_{B},m_{C}∼O(100 GeV) and B, C are reconstructed as large-radius jets, without paying a penalty associated with a large trials factor in the scan of the masses of the two jets. The full run 2 sqrt[s]=13 TeV pp collision dataset of 139 fb^{-1} recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider is used for the search. There is no significant evidence of a localized excess in the dijet invariant mass spectrum between 1.8 and 8.2 TeV. Cross-section limits for narrow-width A, B, and C particles vary with m_{A}, m_{B}, and m_{C}. For example, when m_{A}=3 TeV and m_{B}≳200 GeV, a production cross section between 1 and 5 fb is excluded at 95% confidence level, depending on m_{C}. For certain masses, these limits are up to 10 times more sensitive than those obtained by the inclusive dijet search. These results are complementary to the dedicated searches for the case that B and C are standard model bosons.
