Abstract
Patients with atypical anorexia nervosa (AAN) or anorexia nervosa (AN) with premorbid history of higher weight (PHW; median BMI ≥ 85th %ile) may report greater eating disorder (ED) pathology, anxiety, and depression, than patients with premorbid history of lower weight (PLW; mBMI <85th %ile). Less is known about caregiver attitudes or treatment outcome related to premorbid weight history. The current study examined associations between premorbid weight history and patient/caregiver factors at presentation, during treatment, and end of treatment among adolescents (N = 138) diagnosed with AN/AAN and their caregivers who received interdisciplinary ED treatment. The sample comprised adolescents with PHW (n = 58, 40.6 %) or PLW (n = 82, 59.4 %). Adolescents with PHW did not differ with regard to patient- or caregiver-reported ED symptoms, comorbid psychopathology, rates of treatment completion, and attainment of estimated body weight compared to PLW (ps > .05). Adolescents with PHW (vs. PLW) were more likely to be diagnosed with AAN (67.9 %, p < .001), identify as cisgender male (p < .001) and to have lost more weight prior to presentation (p < .001). Perceived caregiver burden was lower among adolescents with PHW vs. PLW (p < .001). Further research should expand on this preliminary study exploring associations between premorbid weight history on patient and caregiver factors at treatment presentation and conclusion to enhance the efficacy of evidence-based treatment across the weight-spectrum.

Abstract
Over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, rates of eating disorders have increased, further straining systems of care that were already overburdened. The current paper describes novel interventions, largely informed by Family-Based Treatment (FBT), that were implemented by a tertiary specialist adolescent eating disorders service. In response to the pandemic, programming was designed to bridge access to care while waiting for availability of evidence-based therapy. The Brief Psychology Consultation Clinic provides several sessions to patients and families, focused on psychoeducation and problem-solving informed by FBT and other evidence-based therapies. Two groups, the FBT Caregiver Workshop Series and FBT Caregiver Support Group, provide psychoeducation and support for caregivers of youth with eating disorders. Perceived strengths and benefits of these services, as well as barriers to implementation and future research directions are discussed.

Abstract
The stereotype that eating disorders (ED) primarily present among individuals of higher socioeconomic status (SES) has long persisted in popular and professional perception. This belief has likely contributed to disparities in ED identification and treatment, particularly among those of lower SES backgrounds. The objective of this article was to systematically review the literature investigating socioeconomic diversity in distinct ED diagnoses. A PRISMA search was conducted to identify studies that empirically assessed the association between ED pathology and indicators of SES via PubMed and PsycINFO. This search generated 13,538 articles, of which 62 articles published between 1973 and August 2020 met criteria for inclusion in the review. Included studies were primarily cross-sectional and covered diagnoses of anorexia nervosa (AN), bulimia nervosa (BN), and binge eating disorder (BED), with quality ratings of poor, fair, and good. Results are examined in the context of studies' sampling methods, operationalization of SES, and statistical analyses. There is no consistent pattern of evidence to suggest a relationship between high SES and ED. Instead, all ED present across a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds. Limitations included the predominance of cross-sectional study designs and poor to fair quality ratings. Future research should include adequately powered, community-based longitudinal studies that examine how sociocultural factors, including SES, intersect to influence ED risk and treatment outcome. The existing data suggest an urgent need to prioritize affordable and accessible ED treatment.

Abstract
There has been a growing effort to incorporate the evidence-based practices of family-based treatment (FBT) into higher levels of care, such as day-treatment programs. This study tracked the effects of integrating the principles and strategies of FBT into a partial hospitalization program (PHP) for youth with eating disorders. Following retrospective chart review, rates of readmission to the PHP were measured for three years before (2011-2014) and after (2014-2017) FBT was incorporated into the hospital programming. Patients (N = 326) were primarily adolescents with anorexia nervosa. Rates of readmission were significantly lower for those who received care during the implementation of FBT-based PHP programming (2.95%) as compared to the prior traditional PHP (11.7%). Patterns of readmission to the PHP before and after FBT implementation suggest that FBT can be adapted for higher levels of care, and may reduce readmissions and promote continuity of care.

Abstract
Background Digital therapeutics such as cognitive-emotional training have begun to show promise for the treatment of major depressive disorder. Available clinical trial data suggest that monotherapy with cognitive-emotional training using the Emotional Faces Memory Task is beneficial in reducing depressive symptoms in patients with major depressive disorder. The aim of this study was to investigate whether Emotional Faces Memory Task training for major depressive disorder is associated with changes in brain connectivity and whether changes in connectivity parameters are related to symptomatic improvement. Methods Fourteen major depressive disorder patients received Emotional Faces Memory Task training as monotherapy over a six-week period. Patients were scanned at baseline and posttreatment to identify changes in resting-state functional connectivity and effective connectivity during emotional working memory processing. Results Compared to baseline, patients showed posttreatment reduced connectivity within resting-state networks involved in self-referential and salience processing and greater integration across the functional connectome at rest. Moreover, we observed a posttreatment increase in the Emotional Faces Memory Task-induced modulation of connectivity between cortical control and limbic brain regions, which was associated with clinical improvement. Discussion These findings provide initial evidence that cognitive-emotional training may be associated with changes in short-term plasticity of brain networks implicated in major depressive disorder. Conclusion Our findings pave the way for the principled design of large clinical and neuroimaging studies.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The evolution toward more stringent conceptualizations of remission in family therapy for adolescent anorexia nervosa (AN) has, with time, introduced variability in outcomes across randomized controlled trials (RCTs). An examination of remission across the history of research on family therapy for AN shows that earlier studies adopted lenient definitions and generally yielded higher rates of remission than studies of the past decade that have used stricter definitions of remission. In this study, we investigate the reactivity of remission rates to the application of different definitions of remission used within the family therapy for AN literature, within a single RCT data set. METHOD We conducted a secondary analysis of data from a single-site RCT which compared the relative efficacy of two formats of family therapy in a sample of 106 Australian adolescents with AN. Using end-of-treatment data, we compared remission rates using 11 definitions of remission that have been used in studies of family therapy for AN spanning more than three decades. RESULTS We found wide variability in remission rates (21.7-87.7%; Cochran's Q χ2 (10, N = 106) = 303.55, p = .000], depending on which definition of remission was applied. As expected, more lenient criteria produced higher remission rates than more stringent definitions. DISCUSSION Applying different criteria of remission to a single data set illustrates the impact of changing how remission is defined. Failure to consider the greater stringency of remission criteria in recent studies could result in false inferences concerning the efficacy of family therapy for AN over time.

Abstract
The Body Project (BP) is a cognitive dissonance-based eating disorders (ED) prevention program that targets thin-ideal internalization and reduces ED risk factors and onset for higher-risk adolescent/young adult females. Although the more insular Orthodox Jewish communities reduce exposure to mainstream secular media, they are not immune to thin-ideal internalization and EDs. The present uncontrolled study evaluated the preliminary effects of a cultural adaptation of the BP for Orthodox Jewish girls. The modified manual improved fit with ultra-Orthodox Jewish norms, practices, and values. Eighty-nine 11th-graders in a private, all-female religious high school participated. ED risk factors and symptoms were assessed at baseline, end of 4-week intervention, and 6-month follow-up. Multi-level modeling showed that body dissatisfaction and negative affect significantly decreased across time. Findings demonstrate potential for the BP to be adapted for and implemented in cultural and religious communities wherein interactions with societal influences on thin-ideal internalization differ from dominant culture.

Abstract
There is an urgent need for more effective treatments for major depressive disorder (MDD). Digital therapeutics, such as computerized cognitive-emotional training interventions, represent a promising new strategy for treating MDD. Here we report a replication of efficacy of a digital cognitive-emotional training intervention designed to enhance cognitive control for emotional information-processing. In a randomized, double-blind, controlled study design, fifty-one participants with MDD in a current major depressive episode were randomly assigned to participate in a digital cognitive-emotional training regimen (Emotional Faces Memory Task (EFMT); n= 28) involving 18 sessions over 6 weeks, or an active control condition (CT; n= 23) involving computerized working memory training. MDD symptoms were assessed weekly using a clinician-rated measure (Hamilton Depression Rating Scale; Ham-D); and neurocognition (working memory), at baseline and study outcome. Mixed-effects model for repeated measures (MMRM) analysis of all participants randomized revealed a significantly greater reduction in MDD symptom severity (Ham-D) from baseline to outcome in the EFMT group (8.65 points) compared to the CT group (4.77 points) (F(6,205)= 3.23, p= .005, d= .46). Ten of 28 EFMT participants achieved clinical response (≥ 50% reduction in symptoms) compared to 4 of 23 in CT. Both groups exhibited similar, small improvements in working memory. This replicated the preliminary efficacy of a digital cognitive-emotional training approach for the treatment of MDD. EFMT may be a feasible and effective intervention strategy for MDD, but future studies to elucidate its mechanism of action are warranted. Abstract
BACKGROUND The antibiotic minocycline appears to promote neuroprotection through antioxidant and other mechanisms that may be relevant to the pathophysiology of bipolar disorder. The present study assessed the efficacy of minocycline in bipolar depression and examined the association between minocycline treatment and brain glutathione (GSH), an essential regulator of oxidative stress. METHOD Twenty patients with bipolar disorder experiencing acute depressive symptoms enrolled in an 8-week, open-label trial of adjuvant minocycline. Depression was assessed using the Montgomery-Asberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS) and proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H MRS) measures of cortical GSH within a voxel prescribed in the precuneus and aspects of the occipital cortex were obtained from a subset of patients (n=12) before and after treatment. RESULTS The daily dose of minocycline at study end was 256mg (SD: 71mg). Treatment was associated with improvements in depression severity [MADRS score change: -14.6 (95% CI: -7.8 to -21.3)]. Ten patients (50%) were classified as responders based on a ≥50% reduction in MADRS score and 8 patients (40%) were classified as remitters (MADRS score ≤ 9). Higher baseline GSH levels were associated with greater improvement in MADRS score following treatment (ρ=0.51, p=0.05). Increases in GSH levels at study end were higher in non-responders than in responders (p=0.04). LIMITATIONS Small sample size, lack of a placebo group. CONCLUSION Minocycline may be an effective adjuvant treatment for bipolar depression, particularly in patients with high baseline GSH levels. Further research is needed to evaluate the potential of minocycline in this population.
