Abstract
Peroxynitrite (ONOO-) and cell plasma membrane (CPM) are two key factors in cell pyroptosis during the progression of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). However, their combined temporal and spatial roles in initiating AAA pathogenesis remain unclear. Herein, we developed a two-photon fluorescence probe, BH-Vis, enabling real-time dynamic detection of CPM and ONOO- changes, and revealing their interplay in AAA. BH-Vis precisely targets CPM with reduced red fluorescence intensity correlating with diminished CPM tension. Concurrently, a blue shift of the fluorescence signal of BH-Vis occurs in response to ONOO- offering a reliable ratiometric detection mode with enhanced accuracy by minimizing external testing variables. More importantly, two photon confocal imaging with palmitic acid (PA) and ganglioside (GM1) manipulation, which modulating cell pyroptosis, showcases reliable fluorescence fluctuations. This groundbreaking application of BH-Vis in a mouse AAA model demonstrates its significant potential for accurately identifying cell pyroptosis levels during AAA development.

Abstract
In this study, we have effectively prepared a novel fluorescent probe named HDXM based on benzopyran derivatives for the ultrafast detection (within 3 s) of SO2 derivatives or biogenic amines. HDXM showed a noticeable color change after the addition of SO2 derivatives (from purple to colorless) or biogenic amines (from purple to blue), indicating that HDXM can identify two analytes with the naked eye. It is worth noting that HDXM can be used to detect SO2 derivatives in actual sugar samples, and to image HSO3-/SO32- in living cells. More importantly, sensing labels (HDXM-loaded filter paper or agarose hydrogel) enable real-time visual monitoring of salmon freshness through colorimetric and fluorescence dual channels. Compared with the Chinese national standard method, the sensing label is an effective tool for evaluating the freshness of fish. Benefiting from its excellent solubility and fluorescence performance, HDXM can be used as a versatile fluorescent material in various applications, including flexible films, glass coatings, impregnating dyes, printing, and fingerprint ink. HDXM is expected to be a promising and valuable multifunctional tool for food safety and fluorescent materials.

A colorimetric and NIR fluorescent probe for ultrafast detecting bisulfite and organic amines and its applications in food, imaging, and monitoring fish freshness. Food Chem 2024; 438:137987. Abstract
Herein, for the first time, we have successfully constructed a novel near-infrared (NIR) emission fluorescent probe Dpyt for ultrafast detecting (within 5 s) bisulfate and organic amines based on a 1,2-dihydrocyclopenta[b]chromene-barbiturate conjugation system. Upon addition of bisulfate or organic amines, Dpyt displayed a distinct color change from blue to colorless or from purple to blue, respectively, suggesting that the Dpyt can be used to detect two analytes by the naked eye. Based on quantum chemistry calculations, the fluorescence quenching of Dpyt after the addition of HSO3- is caused by the photoinduced electron transfer (PET) process of the adduct Dpyt-HSO3-. The fluorescence enhancement of Dpyt caused by most organic amines is due to the enhanced intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) process of deprotonated Dpyt. Notably, Dpyt can be applied for detecting HSO3- in actual food samples such as red wine and sugar, as well as for imaging of HSO3- and representative propylamine in living cells. And more importantly, indicator labels constructed by filter paper loaded with Dpyt can visually monitor the freshness of salmon in real-time by daylight and fluorescence dual-mode. The comparison with national standard method of China manifests that indicator labels are a valid tool to assess the freshness of seafood.

Abstract
Objective: To study the curative effect of rehmannia glutinosa leaves total glycoside capsules and the role of mitochondrial autophagy on nucleos(t)ide drug-induced renal injury. Methods: Adefovir dipivoxil (ADV) was used to construct a hepatitis B virus (HBV) transgenic mouse model for renal injury. Renal function was measured in each group at one and two weeks of modeling. Mitochondrial autophagy indicators were measured at two weeks of modeling in renal tissue. Transmission electron microscopy was used to detect mitochondrial autophagy phenomena in renal tissue. The model was established for two weeks. Mouse with renal injury were treated with rehmannia glutinosa leaves total glycoside capsules or isotonic saline for eight weeks by intragastric administration. Renal function was measured. Renal tissue morphology was observed. Mitochondrial autophagy indicators were detected in renal tissue. The protective effect of different concentrations of verbascoside (the main active ingredient of rehmannia glutinosa capsule) was observed on HK-2 cell damage induced by ADV. HK-2 cells were divided into control, ADV, and ADV plus verbascoside groups. The effects of verbascoside at different times and concentrations were observed on the HK-2 mitochondrial autophagy indicators. Fifty patients with chronic hepatitis B were collected who presented with renal injury after treatment with nucleos(t)ide analogs. The random number method was used to divide 29 cases into a control group that received conventional treatment. The treatment group of 21 cases was treated with rehmannia glutinosa leaves total glycoside capsules on the basis of the control group. Serum creatinine (Scr) and urinary protein were detected at eight weeks. The χ(2) test or t-test was used for statistical analysis. Results: Compared with the control group, two weeks of modeling in the ADV group induced renal function injury in HBV mice. The expression of autophagy indicators was higher in the renal tissue of the ADV group than that of the control group. Transmission electron microscopy had revealed mitochondrial autophagy in the renal tissue of the ADV group. Compared with the control group, the renal function of HBV mice treated with rehmannia glutinosa leaves total glycoside capsules improved for two months, and the expressions of autophagy indicators were down-regulated.Verbascoside promoted proliferation in ADV-damaged HK-2 cells, and the expression of autophagy indicators was down-regulated compared with the ADV alone group. In 50 patients with renal function injury, the urinary protein improvement was significantly superior in the treatment group than that in the control group, with eighteen and three cases being effective and ineffective in the treatment group and 12 and 17 cases being effective and ineffective in the control group, with a statistically significant difference (χ(2) = 9.975 0, P = 0.001 6). Serum creatinine was decreased in the treatment group compared with the control group, with 11 and 10 cases being effective and ineffective in the treatment group and 12 and 17 cases being effective and ineffective in the control group, with no statistically significant difference (χ(2) = 0.593 5, P = 0.441 1). Conclusion: Rehmannia glutinosa leaves total glycoside capsule can improve the nucleos(t)ide drug-induced renal function injury in chronic hepatitis B, possibly playing a role via inhibiting PINK1/Parkin-mediated mitochondrial autophagy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the safety and oncological prognosis of laparoscopic seromuscular dissection (LSD) in the treatment of gastric stromal tumors. MATERIAL AND METHODS From June 2016 to July 2022, 67 patients with gastric stromal tumors underwent laparoscopic seromuscular dissection (LSD), and 58 patients underwent non-LSD surgery during the same period (52 patients underwent laparoscopic gastric wedge resection (LWR), two patients underwent proximal gastrectomy, three patients underwent total gastrectomy, one patient underwent distal gastrectomy and partial hepatectomy). Gastric stromal tumor patients were compared to compare the surgical results, tumor relapse rate, and survival rate of the two groups. RESULTS The results of the two groups were compared. For gastric stromal tumors, especially gastric stromal tumors located at 'difficult sites', LSD can reduce the amount of bleeding and the number of cutting staplers used during the operation, reduce the incidence of postoperative complications, shorten the postoperative hospitalization time, reduce the hospitalization cost and improve the quality of life of patients without increasing the operation time. CONCLUSION Laparoscopic seromuscular dissection for gastric stromal tumors is safe and technically feasible in the hands of experienced laparoscopic surgeons.

Abstract
Reducing agent SO2 and oxidant H2O2 are two essential substances in cells, and the balance between them is closely related to the survival of cells. SO2 derivative HSO3- is often used as food additive. Therefore, simultaneous detection of SO2 and H2O2 is of great significance in biology and food safety. In this work, we successfully developed a mitochondria-targeted red fluorescent probe (HBTI), which has excellent selectivity, high sensitivity and large Stokes shift (202 nm). HBTI and HSO3-/SO32- undergo Michael addition on the unsaturated C=C bond, and the addition product (HBTI-HSO3-) can react with H2O2 to restore the conjugated structure. Fluorescence changes from red to non-emissive and then restores to red, and can be detected quickly and visually. In addition, HBTI has been successfully targeted mitochondria, and achieved dynamic reversible response to SO2/H2O2 in living cells, and has been successfully applied to detect SO2 in food samples.

Abstract
In view of the important physiological role of HSO3- and H2O2, it is of great significance to develop fluorescent probes to detect HSO3- and H2O2 in aqueous medium. We herein report a new fluorescent probe (E)-3-(2-(4-(1,2,2-triphenylvinyl)styryl)benzo [d]thiazol-3-ium-3-yl)propane-1-sulfonate (TPE-y) possessing benzothiazolium salt based on tetraphenylethene (TPE) moiety with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) characteristics. TPE-y can sequentially recognize HSO3- and H2O2 through colorimetric and fluorescence dual-channel response in HEPES (pH = 7.4, 1% DMSO) buffer solution, and exhibits high sensitivity and selectivity, a large Stokes shift (189 nm), as well as a wide applicable pH range. The detection limits of TPE-y and TPE-y-HSO3 for HSO3- and H2O2 are 3.52 μM and 0.15 μM, respectively. The recognition mechanism is verified by 1H NMR and HRMS methods. Furthermore, TPE-y can detect HSO3- in sugar samples, and can image exogenous HSO3- and H2O2 in living MCF-7 cells. TPE-y can relay detect HSO3- and H2O2, which is of great significance to maintain the redox balance in organisms.

Abstract
Freshness is an important parameter of fish quality. This study aims to develop a ratiometric fluorescent sensing label that is responsive to volatile amines, affording real-time and visual detection of fish freshness. For developing of the sensing label, an aggregation-induced emissive (AIE) polymer was prepared from the stimuli-responsive polymer polymethacrylic acid and the AIE molecule tetraphenylethylene and coated on to filter paper with rhodamine B as an internal reference. By exploiting the ratiometric response, the freshness of fish could be identified clearly and easily according to the color of on-package label, which changes from pink (fresh) to dark blue. The difference was linearly correlated with the total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N, R2 = 0.995 and 0.994 at 25 °C and 4 °C, respectively) in the range of 15-25 mg/100 g for the salmon samples, which indicated that the sensing label feasibly and non-destructively quantified TVB-N.

Abstract
Despite their status of being widely used as food additives, bisulfite (HSO3-)/sulfite (SO32-) can pose serious health risks when they are excessively added. Therefore, it is vital to develop a new method for detecting HSO3-/SO32- in foodstuff. In this paper, a benzopyran-benzothiazole derivative (probe DCA-Btl) with near-infrared emission was designed and synthesized by constructing a "push-pull" electronic system. DCA-Btl can selectively recognize HSO3-/SO32- via a colorimetric and fluorescence dual channel in DMF/PBS (1:1, v/v, pH = 8.4), and the emission wavelength of DCA-Btl can reach 710 nm. The fluorescence quenching of DCA-Btl after recognition of HSO3- is attributed to the photoinduced electron transfer (PET) process of the adduct DCA-Btl-HSO3- as evaluated by the DFT/TD-DFT method. In addition, DCA-Btl has many advantages, including a large Stokes shift (95 nm), good anti-interference ability, and little cytotoxicity. What's more, DCA-Btl has been successfully applied for the detection of HSO3-/SO32- in actual water samples and food samples such as sugar, red wine, and biscuits with satisfying results, as well as for fluorescent imaging of HSO3- in living MCF-7 cells.

Abstract
Bisulfite (HSO3-)/Sulfite (SO32-) is widely used as a food additive, but excessive use often leads to serious consequences, so the detection of HSO3-/SO32- is of great importance. In this paper, a novel 1,4-diethylpiperazine-modified coumarin-benzopyran derivative (probe QLP) has been synthesized and characterized. In PBS (10 mM, pH = 7.4), QLP displays good selectivity and is sensitive for HSO3-/SO32- over various analytes with fluorescent "OFF-ON" rapid responding (2 min), long-wavelength emission (600 nm), and a detection limit of 177 nM. With the treatment of HSO3-/SO32-, the color of the QLP solution obviously changes from blue-green to yellow, and the fluorescent color of QLP changes from colorless to amaranth. The fluorescence-enhanced mechanism is qualitatively evaluated by density functional theory calculations using the CAM-B3LYP/6-31G (d) method, which reveals that the photoinduced electron transfer leads to the fluorescence emission of the QLP-SO3H adduct. Importantly, nontoxic QLP can be used to detect HSO3-/SO32- in sugar, natural water samples, and living cells and localized to the mitochondria and monitor the mitochondrial HSO3-/SO32- level.

Abstract
Glycosylation (Glyc) is prevalently related to gastric cancer (GC) pathophysiology. However, studies on the relationship between glycosylation regulators and tumor microenvironment (TME) and immunotherapy of GC remain scarce. We extracted expression data of 1,956 patients with GC from eight cohorts and systematically characterized the glycosylation patterns of six marker genes into phenotype clusters using the unsupervised clustering method. Next, we constructed a Glyc. score to quantify the glycosylation index of each patient with GC. Finally, we analyzed the relationship between Glyc. score and clinical traits including molecular subtype, TME, and immunotherapy of GC. On the basis of prognostic glycosylation-related differentially expressed genes, we constructed the Glyc. score and divided the samples into the high– and low–Glyc. score groups. The high–Glyc. score group showed a poor prognosis and was validated in multiple cohorts. Functional enrichment analysis revealed that the high–Glyc. score group was enriched in metabolism-related pathways. Furthermore, the high–Glyc. score group was associated with the infiltration of immune cells. Importantly, the established Glyc. score would contribute to predicting the response to anti–PD-1/L1 immunotherapy. In conclusion, the Glyc. score is a potentially useful tool to predict the prognosis of GC. Comprehensive analysis of glycosylation may provide novel insights into the epigenetics of GC and improve treatment strategies.

Abstract
Based on the electrostatic interaction, we constructed a ratiometric fluorescence nanomixture of graphene quantum dots-gold nanoclusters (GQDs-AuNCs) for the quantitative detection of Cu2+ and Cd2+. When Cu2+ or Cd2+ was added into the reaction system, the fluorescence of GSH-AuNCs at 565 nm can be quenched by Cu2+ and enhanced by Cd2+ while the intensity of N-GQDs at 403 nm stayed constant. Under the optimized conditions, the fluorescence intensity ratio (I565/I403) of the GQDs-AuNCs system was proportional to the concentration of Cu2+ and Cd2+ in the range of 8×10-8 mol/L-6×10-6 mol/L and 1×10-6 mol/L-4×10-5 mol/L, respectively, with detection limits of 4.12×10-9 mol/L and 9.43×10-7 mol/L, respectively. In the presence of Cu2+ and Cd2+, the paper-based vision sensor would produce visible fluorescent color changes, which can be used for rapid detection on site. The method has been successfully applied to the determination of Cu2+ and Cd2+ in scallops with satisfactory results.

Abstract
In the present article, we report a novel fluorescent and colorimetric dual-signal sensing probe based on a CD-Cu2+ complex for the detection of the phosphate ion (Pi). The yellow fluorescent carbon quantum dots (CDs) were simply synthesized via one-step hydrothermal treatment of o-phenylenediamine (OPD) and 4-aminobutyric acid (GABA). The method was based on the combination of the CDs and Cu2+ to form a coordination complex. Pi can capture Cu2+ on the surface of CDs, which brings about two kinds of signal change through competitive complexation, including fluorescence and UV-vis absorption. The probe could detect the Pi with a linear range of 0.01-1 mM with a detection limit of 3.75 μM for the fluorescence signal and a linear range of 0.01-1 mM with a detection limit of 4.38 μM for the colorimetric signal. And the change in absorption signal can be used to visually detect Pi. Furthermore, the proposed sensing system was successfully applied to determine Pi in practical water samples.

Abstract
Carbon monoxide (CO) gas therapy is a promising cancer treatment. However, gas delivery to the tumor site remains problematic. Proper tunable control of CO release in tumors is crucial to increasing the efficiency of CO treatment and reducing the risk of CO poisoning. To overcome such challenges, we designed ZCM, a novel stable nanotechnology delivery system comprising manganese carbonyl (MnCO) combined with anticancer drug camptothecin (CPT) loaded onto a zeolitic imidazole framework-8 (ZIF-8). After intravenous injection, ZCM gradually accumulates in cancerous tissues, decomposing in the acidic tumor microenvironment, releasing CPT and MnCO. CPT acts as a chemotherapy agent destroying tumors and producing copious H2O2. MnCO can react with the H2O2 to generate CO, powerfully damaging the tumor. Both in vitro and in vivo experiments indicate that the ZCM system is both safe and has excellent tumor inhibition properties. ZCM is a novel system for CO controlled release, with significant potential to improve future cancer therapy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the antitumor effects of AZD2014 (a dual mTORC1/2 inhibitor) against human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) xenograft in mice. METHODS HCCLM3 cells were injected subcutaneously in the right flank of nude mice, and when the tumors were macroscopic, the mice were randomized into 2 groups for daily intraperitoneal injection of AZD2014 (5 mg/kg, n=5) or vehicle (5 mL/kg, n=5) for 24 days. Tumor growth was assessed using calipers every 4 days and the tumor growth curve was drawn. After the final injection, the mice were euthanized and the tumors were dissected for measuring tumor weight and histopathological analysis with HE staining. Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expressions of Ki-67, cleaved caspase-3, CD31, and the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related proteins (Ecadherin, N-cadherin, and vimentin) in the tumor tissue. RESULTS Daily treatment with AZD2014 significantly suppressed HCC growth as compared with the control group. HE staining showed significantly increased tumor necrosis in AZD2014-treated mice. AZD2014 treatment inhibited tumor cell proliferation, angiogenesis and EMT progression as shown by decreased expressions of Ki-67, CD31, N-cadherin, and vimentin and increased expression of E-cadherin in the tumor tissue, and significantly promoted tumor cell apoptosis as shown by an increased expression of cleaved caspase-3 in AZD2014-treated mice. CONCLUSIONS AZD2014 is a highly potent antitumor agent for HCC in nude mice bearing HCC xenografts. AZD2014 can effectively inhibit tumor proliferation, angiogenesis and EMT progression and induce tumor cell necrosis and apoptosis.

Abstract
The radiative and non-radiative decay processes of five compounds are investigated through a comprehensive computational approach, for the aim of investigating the effect of different halogen substituents to the phosphorescent emission. Their optimal configurations at the ground (S0) and lowest triplet excited (T1) states are obtained and the calculated phosphorescent emission spectra are comparable with the experimental values. For 1,4-di(9H-carbazol-9-yl)benzene (PDCz), the electronic transition is between the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO), while for the four halides, the electronic transitions are attributed to several molecular orbitals. According to calculations, 9,9'-(2,5-diiodo-1,4-phenylene)bis(9H-carbazole) (PDICz) possesses the largest radiative decay rate constant (kr) and non-radiative decay rate constant (knr), which can be attributed to the strong spin-orbital coupling from the heavy iodine atom. However, the phosphorescent quantum efficiency (Φ) of PDICz is lower than that of 9,9'-(2,5-dibromo-1,4-phenylene)bis(9H-carbazole) (PDBCz), implying that a comprehensive consideration is necessary. Furthermore, by analyzing the vibrational mode, we have confirmed that the reorganization energies are also influenced by the different halogen atoms. While the dominated factor that determines the kr and knr comes from the spin-orbital coupling. We expect that our research findings will be beneficial to the newly designed organic phosphorescent materials in the future.

Abstract
Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) contributes to human health and prolongs the storage time of postharvest fruits and vegetables. At the same time, H2S can cause a negative impact on some foodstuffs and beverages, so an efficient probe to detect H2S is needed. Herein, a fluorescent turn-on responding probe SPy-DNs for H2S detection has been designed and synthesized. SPy-DNs exhibited a red emission (608 nm), large Stokes shift (111 nm), and a detection limit of a nanomolar level (356 nM) in a dimethylformamide/phosphate-buffered saline (DMF/PBS) (1:1, v/v, 10 mM, pH 7.4) solution. SPy-DNs can detect H2S with ultrafast response within 4 s, which is faster than the response of other reported probes. In addition, the applicability of SPy-DNs to detect H2S has been determined in the actual water samples, targeted mitochondria, and imaged H2S in living cells. Moreover, SPy-DNs was successfully used as a tool to judge H2S levels in beer, which indicates that SPy-DNs possesses the advantage of rapid detection of H2S in foodstuffs.

Abstract
Both hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and metabolic syndrome are closely associated with the composition of the gut microbiota (GM). Although it has been proposed that elements of the GM can be used as biomarkers for the early diagnosis of HCC, whether metabolic syndrome results in a misrepresentation of the results of the early diagnosis of HCC using GM remains unclear. We compared the differences in the faecal microbiota of 10 patients with primary HCC, six patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), seven patients with arterial hypertension, six patients with both HCC and T2DM, and 10 patients with both HCC and arterial hypertension, as well as 10 healthy subjects, using high-throughput sequencing of 16S rRNA gene amplicons. Our results revealed a significant difference in the GM between subjects with and without HCC. The 49 bacterial genera out of the 494 detected genera were significantly different between the groups. These results show that changes in the GM can be used to distinguish between subjects with and without HCC, and can resist interference of T2DM and arterial hypertension with the GM. The results of the present study provide an important basis for the clinical auxiliary diagnosis of HCC by detecting the GM.

Abstract
A novel colorimetric and near-infrared fluorescent probe (L) with D-π-A structure derived from 4-diethylaminosalicylaldehyde and 2-(3-cyano-4,5,5-trimethylfuran-2(5H)-ylidene)malononitrile has been developed. Probe L displays highly selective and sensitive recognition for H2S over various anions with a large Stokes shift (96 nm) in DMF/H2O (3/7, v/v, PBS-HCl 10 mM, pH = 7.4). A naked-eye observable color change of L solution from colorless to bluish-purple occurred on treatment with H2S. The potential applications of probe L were evaluated and the results show that probe L can detect H2S vapor and H2S in real water, red wine and living cells.

Abstract
Purpose Cervical cancer is the second leading cause of women’s cancer-related death. MiR-940 has been reported as a critical factor in various cancers. Based on the high transfection efficiency and low side effect, the clinical application of microbubble ultrasound contrast agent in gene treatment has attracted a widespread attention. In this study, we determined the mechanism of miR-940 inhibiting cell proliferation and cycle procession, and promoting cell apoptosis in cervical cancer Hela cells. In addition, we compared the effects of different transfection methods, including liposome, microbubble, ultrasound, and microbubble coupled with ultrasound. Patients and methods MTT assay, PI staining, and Annexin-Ⅴ/PI staining assays were, respectively, performed to evaluate cell proliferation status, cell cycle progression, and apoptosis status. RT-PCR and Western blot were conducted to measure the levels of cell cycle- and apoptosis-related factors, and the phosphorylation levels of PI3K and Akt. Results Results showed that the overexpression of miR-940 inhibited cell proliferation, blocked cell cycle, and promoted apoptosis by regulating cell cycle-related factors (such as inhibited Cyclin D1 and CDK4) and apoptosis-related factors (such as promoted Puma and Bax, inhibited Bcl-2 and Cleaved caspase9), and inhibiting the phosphorylation and activation of PI3K/AKT pathway. Among all of them, miR-940 transfected with microbubble and ultrasound showed the greatest changes. Conclusion It provides evidence that miR-940 could be a wonderful biomarker and treatment agent for cervical cancer, and microbubble ultrasound would have more wide application in the clinical treatment of cancers.

Mutual regulation of JAG2 and PRAF2 promotes migration and invasion of colorectal cancer cells uncoupled from epithelial-mesenchymal transition. Cancer Cell Int 2019; 19:160. Abstract
Background Our previous studies revealed that Jagged 2 (JAG2) is involved in the regulation of migration and invasion of colon cancer cells without affecting cell proliferation. This study further explored the specific mechanism by which JAG2 promotes migration and invasion of colorectal cancer cells. Methods JAG2 mRNA expression in different clinical stages of colorectal cancer and normal intestinal tissues was detected by quantitative PCR (QPCR). QPCR and Western Blot were used to analyze the differential expression of JAG2 mRNA and protein between normal human colon tissue cells and various colorectal cancer cells. Co-expression status of JAG2 and epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) markers in colon cancer tissues and cells was analyzed. The difference between TGF-β-induced EMT model and the JAG2 overexpression model were compared in promoting migration and invasion of HT29 cells. HT29 cells were treated with EMT pathway inhibitors (LY2157299 and Slug siRNA) to identify a cross-talk between the JAG2 effect and the Notch pathway. Co-expressed genes of JAG2 in colorectal cancer cells were identified using siRNA and transcriptome microarray technology. The mutual regulation of JAG2 and the co-expressed gene PRAF2 and the regulation of the paracrine effect of exosomes were analyzed. Results JAG2 was abnormally expressed in colorectal cancer tissues and directly related to clinical stages. Similar to the findings in tissues, the expression of both JAG2 mRNA and protein was significantly increased in the colorectal cancer cell lines compared with that of normal colorectal cell line CCD18-Co. It was shown in our cell model that JAG2 was involved in the regulation of migration and invasion independent of the canonical Notch signaling pathway. More interestingly, JAG2 also promoted the migration and invasion of colon cancer cells in a non-EMT pathway. Further analysis revealed the co-expression of JAG2 with PRAF2 in colorectal cancer cells. JAG2-rich exosomes were released from colorectal cancer cells in a PRAF2-dependent way, while these exosomes regulated the metastasis of colorectal cancer cells in a paracrine manner. Conclusions This is the evidence supporting the biological function of JAG2 through non-canonical Notch and non-EMT-dependent pathways and also the first demonstration of the functions of PRAF2 in colorectal cancer cells. These findings also provide theoretical basis for the development of small molecules or biological agents for therapeutic intervention targeting JAG2/PRAF2. Abstract
In this work, we presented a new tetraphenylethene-derived fluorescent probe TPE-M for Hg2+ detection in an aqueous solution. Probe TPE-M is molecularly dissolved in CH3OH/PBS (20 mM, pH = 7.4) (3 : 7, v/v) mixed solution and is almost non-emissive. Reaction of TPE-M with Hg2+ leads to release of an AIE-active precursor 4, and results in a significant fluorescence enhancement. The Hg2+ recognition process has some distinct advantages including rapid response, high selectivity and sensitivity, strong anti-interference ability, and a low detection limit (4.16 × 10−6 M). Moreover, the probe is applicable to detect Hg2+ in real food samples such as shrimp, crab and teas, suggesting the practical applicability of TPE-M. Abstract
Rod-coil molecules, composed of rigid segments and flexible coil chains, have a strong intrinsic ability to self-assemble into diverse supramolecular nanostructures. Herein, we report the synthesis and the morphological control of a new series of amphiphilic coil-rod-coil molecular isomers 1-2 containing flexible oligoether chains. These molecules are comprised of m-terphenyl and biphenyl groups, along with triple bonds, and possess lateral methyl or butyl groups at the coil or rod segments. The results of this study suggest that the morphology of supramolecular aggregates is significantly influenced by the lateral alkyl groups and by the sequence of the rigid fragments in the bulk and in aqueous solution. The molecules with different coils self-assemble into lamellar or oblique columnar structures in the bulk state. In aqueous solution, molecule 1a, with a lack of lateral groups, self-assembled into large strips of sheets, whereas exquisite nanostructures of helical fibers were obtained from molecule 1b, which incorporated lateral methyl groups between the rod and coil segments. Interestingly, molecule 1c with lateral butyl and methyl groups exhibited a strong self-organizing capacity to form helical nanorings. Nanoribbons, helical fibers, and small nanorings were simultaneously formed from the 2a-2c, which are structural isomers of 1a, 1b, and 1c. Accurate control of these supramolecular nanostructures can be achieved by tuning the synergistic interactions of the noncovalent driving force with hydrophilic-hydrophobic interactions in aqueous solution.

Abstract
A series of bent-shaped molecules, consisting of dibenzo[a,c]phenazine and phenyl groups connected together as a rod segment, and poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) with a degree of polymerization (DP) of 6 as the coil segment, were synthesized. The self-assembling behavior of these molecules by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermal optical polarized microscopy (POM), small-angle X-ray scattering spectroscopy (SAXS), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), revealed that carboxyl or butoxy carbonyl groups at the 11 position of dibenzo[a,c]phenazine noticeably influence self-organization of molecules into supramolecular aggregates in bulk and aqueous solutions. Molecules 1 and 2 with chiral or non-chiral PEO coil chains and the carboxyl group at the rod segments self-organize into a hexagonal perforated lamellar structure and a hexagonal columnar structure in the solid state. In aqueous solution, molecules 1 and 2 self-assemble into diverse lengths of nanofibers, whereas molecules 3 and 4 with butoxy carbonyl groups exhibit a self-organizing capacity to form diverse sizes of spherical aggregates.

In the bulk state, 1a self-assembles into oblique columnar structures, whereas 1b, incorporating butoxy and lateral methyl groups, self-assembles into three-dimensional body-centered tetragonal structures. Molecules 2a and 2b with no butoxy groups, and 2b incorporating a lateral methyl group, self-assemble into hexagonal perforated lamellar and oblique columnar structures, respectively. In dilute aqueous solutions, 1a assembles into tubular nanoassemblies, while 1b self-organizes into micelles and nanoparticles. On the other hand, 2a and 2b spontaneously aggregate into nanoribbons and nanofibers. Furthermore, CD experiments together with AFM investigations of 2b indicate the creation of self-organized helical fibers, implying that the lateral methyl group induces the helical stacking of the rod building block. These results reveal that the butoxy and lateral methyl groups between the rod and coil segments dramatically influence the creation of supramolecular nanostructures and morphologies.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION A national survey on critical values in hematology of China laboratories was conducted to determine the current practice and assess the quality indicators so as to obtain a quality improvement. METHODS Laboratories participating were asked to submit the general information, the practice of critical value reporting, and the status of timeliness of critical value reporting. RESULTS A total of 862 laboratories submitted the results. The majority of participants have included white blood cell count, blood platelet count, hemoglobin, prothrombin time, and activated partial thromboplastin time in their critical value lists. Many sources are used for establishing a critical value policy, and some of the laboratories consult with clinicians. The unreported critical value rate, late critical value reporting rate, and clinically unacknowledged rate in China are relatively low, and the median of critical value reporting time is 8-9 minutes. CONCLUSION There exists a wide variety for critical value reporting in hematology in China. Laboratories should establish a policy of critical value reporting suited for their own situations and consult with clinicians to set critical value lists. Critical values are generally reported in a timely manner in China, but some measures should be taken to further improve the timeliness of critical value reporting.

Abstract
A new 2-(2'-hydroxyphenyl)quinazolin-4(3H)-one derived acylhydrazone (QP) was designed and synthesized as a fluorescent sensor. In Tris∙HCl buffer (10mM, pH7.4)/ethanol (1/9, v/v) solution, QP exhibits a highly selective fluorescence response to Al3+ over other metal ions with a significant blue-shifted and enhanced emission at 473nm. QP interacts with Al3+ reversibly through a 1:2 binding ratio with a detection limit of 4.79×10-8M. Potential applicability of QP for Al3+ detection in tap and lake water samples were also examined by 'proof-of-concept' experiments.
