Abstract
Abstract Rodents can cause significant damage to wheat-groundnut crops in developing countries, as well as to stored produce and infrastructure, affecting food security and income of small-holder farmers. Wheat (Triticum aestivum) and groundnuts (Arachis hypogea) are important cash crops for local farmers in Pakistan. Field experiments were performed to assess the extent of rodent damage to wheat-groundnut crops throughout their growth stages (i.e, germination, flowering/peg formation and maturity) in the agro-ecological zones of Pothwar Plateau, Pakistan. We used a quadrat method to record the number of damaged crop plants. On the basis of the trapping data four rodent species were captured from wheat-groundnut cropping systems which were responsible for causing damage, i.e., lesser bandicoot rat (Bandicota bengalensis) was the main species, followed by the short-tailed mole rat (Nesokia indica), the Indian gerbil (Tatera indica) and the bush rat (Golunda ellioti). In both crops, the maximum damage was recorded at crop maturity (10.7 and 14.4%, respectively). The lowest reported damage to wheat and groundnuts was at the germination stage (3.5% and 6.0%, respectively). The lower damage reported at germination could be due to availability of non-crop vegetation at field borders that may be a potential factor influencing damage. Our findings clearly show the considerable amount of damage caused by rodents to wheat-groundnut at maturity across all the agro-ecological zones of Pothwar and indicated that the small mammal composition was more related to maturity stage/season of crops, when the availability of food and climatic condition were favorable and having security under crop shelter. More detailed studies are needed to fully understand the population and breeding ecology of the relevant rodent pest species in relation to damage patterns to optimize management beyond individual structural measures.

Abstract
A low odor formulation of ultra-low volume (ULV) malathion (Fyfanon EW®) mosquito adulticide was evaluated in the field for its efficacy using caged female Aedes aegypti. Cages were placed in three rows, 30 m apart at 30, 60, and 90 m from the spray line. The product was applied at the manufacturer's suggested operational rate of 0.28 liter/min (9.5 fl oz/min) and at the maximum label rate of 0.37 liter/min (12.6 fl oz/min) with a Guardian 190ES truck mounted ULV sprayer. At 1 h post-treatment for the manufacturer's suggested operational rate, adult mortality ranged from 85% at 30 m to 46% at 90 m (overall average 65.5%). At 24 h post-treatment, mortality was significantly greater at each distance with complete control of caged mosquitoes at 30 m and >95% at 90 m. Overall, 24-h average mortality at this rate was 96.8%. At the maximum label rate, mosquito mortality at 1 h was considerably greater at all distances and ranged from about 89% to 75% with an overall average of 84.3%. At 24 h post-treatment, complete mortality was recorded at all transect distances at this higher rate. In conclusion, our results showed that at 24 h, Fyfanon EW® was considered very effective when applied by ULV truck mounted ground equipment for area-wide control of mosquitoes.

Abstract
We present a new measurement of the positive muon magnetic anomaly, a_{μ}≡(g_{μ}-2)/2, from the Fermilab Muon g-2 Experiment using data collected in 2019 and 2020. We have analyzed more than 4 times the number of positrons from muon decay than in our previous result from 2018 data. The systematic error is reduced by more than a factor of 2 due to better running conditions, a more stable beam, and improved knowledge of the magnetic field weighted by the muon distribution, ω[over ˜]_{p}^{'}, and of the anomalous precession frequency corrected for beam dynamics effects, ω_{a}. From the ratio ω_{a}/ω[over ˜]_{p}^{'}, together with precisely determined external parameters, we determine a_{μ}=116 592 057(25)×10^{-11} (0.21 ppm). Combining this result with our previous result from the 2018 data, we obtain a_{μ}(FNAL)=116 592 055(24)×10^{-11} (0.20 ppm). The new experimental world average is a_{μ}(exp)=116 592 059(22)×10^{-11} (0.19 ppm), which represents a factor of 2 improvement in precision.

Abstract
Cardiovascular diseases are a leading cause of death and disability globally, with inequalities in burden and care delivery evident in Europe. To address this challenge, The Lancet Regional Health-Europe convened experts from a range of countries to summarise the current state of knowledge on cardiovascular disease inequalities across Europe. This Series paper presents evidence from nationwide secondary care registries and primary care healthcare records regarding inequalities in care delivery and outcomes for myocardial infarction, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and aortic stenosis in the National Health Service (NHS) across the United Kingdom (UK) by age, sex, ethnicity and geographical location. Data suggest that women and older people less frequently receive guideline-recommended treatment than men and younger people. There are limited publications about ethnicity in the UK for the studied disease areas. Finally, there is inter-healthcare provider variation in cardiovascular care provision, especially for transcatheter aortic valve implantation, which is associated with differing outcomes for patients with the same disease. Providing equitable care is a founding principle of the UK NHS, which is well positioned to deliver innovative policy responses to reverse observed inequalities. Understanding differences in care may enable the implementation of appropriate strategies to mitigate differences in outcomes.

Abstract
Left ventricular fibrosis can be identified by late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) in some veteran athletes. We aimed to investigate prevalence of ventricular fibrosis in veteran athletes and associations with cardiac arrhythmia. 50 asymptomatic male endurance athletes were recruited. They underwent CMR imaging including volumetric analysis, bright blood (BB) and dark blood (DB) LGE, motion corrected (MOCO) quantitative stress and rest perfusion and T1/T2/extracellular volume mapping. Athletes underwent 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) and 24-h ECG. Myocardial fibrosis was identified in 24/50 (48%) athletes. All fibrosis was mid-myocardial in the basal-lateral left ventricular wall. Blood pressure was reduced in athletes without fibrosis compared to controls, but not athletes with fibrosis. Fibrotic areas had longer T2 time (44 ± 4 vs. 40 ± 2 ms, p < 0.0001) and lower rest myocardial blood flow (MBF, 0.5 ± 0.1 vs. 0.6 ± 0.1 ml/g/min, p < 0.0001). On 24-h ECG, athletes with fibrosis had greater burden of premature ventricular beats (0.3 ± 0.6 vs. 0.05 ± 0.2%, p = 0.03), with higher prevalence of ventricular couplets and triplets (33 vs. 8%, p = 0.02). In veteran endurance athletes, myocardial fibrosis is common and associated with an increased burden of ventricular ectopy. Possible mechanisms include inflammation and blood pressure. Further studies are needed to establish whether fibrosis increases risk of malignant arrhythmic events.

Abstract
The present experimental work was conducted to elucidate the toxicity of nimesulide at three different doses in black kites (Milvus migrans). M. migrans is one of the most common raptors near human habitations. The goal of the current investigation was to determine whether nimesulide is similarly hazardous to raptors as was diclofenac sodium and to investigate the acute oral toxicity of nimesulide in these birds. For this study, eight adult male black kites (M. migrans) were randomly divided into four groups. M. migrans in the control group (n = 02) were not treated with nimesulide. The other three groups were given nimesulide doses. The birds in the first (n = 02) were declared the control group. The second (n = 02), third (n = 02), and fourth groups were administered nimesulide at a low, medium, and high dose of 2, 4, and 6 mg/kg live body weight of bird/day, respectively, for 10 days. Nimesulide-addled birds became listless and despondent, then anorexic. The birds were standing there with their eyes closed and showing no signs of life. There was an increase in saliva production, a slowing of breathing, and dilated pupils. No clinical signs were observed in the control group. No mortality was seen in the control or treated groups. The control group did not show lesions of gout, but black kites intoxicated with nimesulide at 2, 4, and 6 mg/kg live body weight of bird/day showed inflammation, apoptosis, hemorrhage, necrosis, and leukocytic infiltration tissues of the liver, kidney, and heart of black kites (M. migrans) treated with different concentrations of nimesulide. The treated groups also showed apoptosis of myofibrils and hyperplasia. The hypertrophy, atrophy, fibrosis, necrosis of skeletal muscles and hemorrhage were prominent in the muscles of black kites (M. migrans) intoxicated with nimesulide. All observed histological alterations got worse in a dose-related way. There was no significant difference in AST, ALT, ALP, serum uric acid, but a significant difference was observed in the values of serum urea (p = 0.001) and serum creatinine (p = 0.019).

Abstract
Natural products are always been the great source of therapeutic agents. The aim of the study was to analyze the physicochemical properties of Roystonea regia plant which were performed on its powder. All the results were in their official limits. Extraction was done with n-hexane, chloroform and ethanol using Soxhlet apparatus and phytochemicals of different extracts of plant were evaluated with freshly prepared reagents. Anti-oxidant activity of plant by Total Phenolic Content (TPC) method revealed that all extracts specially ethanol extract has anti-oxidant potential of 398.6 mg/g of GAE. In anti-pyretic activity Swiss albino rats containing weight 150 to 200 mg were used and results showed the dose dependent effects of all extracts from 1st hour to 5th hour after the administration of yeast. Results were analyzed by using ANOVA along with Dunnett’s test.

Abstract
Nowadays, it would be ideal to develop high-performance photovoltaic devices as well as highly efficient photocatalysts for the production of hydrogen via photocatalytic water splitting, which is a feasible and sustainable energy source for addressing the challenges related to environmental pollution and a shortage of energy. In this work, we employ first-principles calculations to investigate the electronic structure, optical properties and photocatalytic performance of novel SiS/GeC and SiS/ZnO heterostructures. Our results indicate that both the SiS/GeC and SiS/ZnO heterostructures are structurally and thermodynamically stable at room temperature, suggesting that they are promising materials for experimental implementation. The formation of SiS/GeC and SiS/ZnO heterostructures gives rise to reduction of the band gaps as compared to the constituent monolayers, enhancing the optical absorption. Furthermore, the SiS/GeC heterostructure possesses a type-I straddling gap with a direct band gap, while the SiS/ZnO heterostructure forms a type-II band alignment with indirect band gap. Moreover, a red-shift (blue-shift) has been observed in SiS/GeC (SiS/ZnO) heterostructures as compared with the constituent monolayers, enhancing the efficient separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs, thereby making them promising candidates for optoelectronic applications and solar energy conversion. More interestingly, significant charge transfers at the interfaces of SiS-ZnO heterostructures, have improved the adsorption of H, and the Gibbs free energy ΔH* becomes close to zero, which is optimal for the hydrogen evolution reaction to produce hydrogen. The findings pave the path for the practical realization of these heterostructures for potential applications in photovoltaics and photocatalysis of water splitting.

Abstract
In the recent era, the nanofluid's transportation due to the Jeffrey-Hemal flow phenomenon (i.e., carrying fluid through a converging/diverging channel) has significant applications in numerous engineering and science technologies. Therefore, multi-disciplinary evolution and research motivated us to present current attempt. The aim of this attempt is to present Jeffrey-Hamel mechanism of the nanofluid through non-parallel channel under thermally balance non-Darcy permeable medium impacts. The nanomaterial is represented using the Buongiorno nanofluid model. The investigation also includes zero mass flux impacts as well as variable rheological fluid properties. The influences of temperature jump are also encountered in the current analysis. The governing flow expressions under the Jeffrey-Hemal analysis are made dimensionless utilizing the similarity variables. The dimensionless equations are then solved using the analytical scheme (homotopy method) and the obtained series solutions are convergent. The influences of the involved parameters on concerned profiles are investigated through graphs. Force of drag, Nusselt and Sherwood numbers are elaborated graphically. In this analysis, intensification in Prandtl number enhances the heat transfer rate whereas decrement is seen in heat transfer rate for larger thermal slip parameter. Further, mass diffusivity parameter adversely affects the mass transfer rate. The current analysis incorporates numerous industrial and technological processes including transportation, material synthesis, microfluidics, high-power Xrays, biomedical, solid-state lighting, microelectronics, scientific measurement, medicine, molten polymers extrusion via converging dies, cold drawing operation related to polymer industry etc.

Survival and success of composite resin restorations in endodontically treated maxillary incisors with minimal structure loss. GENERAL DENTISTRY 2023; 71:44-49. Abstract
The primary aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical performance of nanofilled composite resin restorations in traumatized, endodontically treated maxillary incisors with structural loss of 40% or less. The performance of the restorations was assessed in terms of longevity (survival) and esthetics (success) over a 20-month period. The secondary objective was to employ a novel digital method to quantify preoperative tooth structure loss. Sixty-one fractured maxillary incisors in 55 patients were included in the study. The teeth were photographed with a digital single-lens reflex camera equipped with a macro ring flash. The amount of lost tooth structure was calculated with digital photography software. The teeth were restored with a nanohybrid composite resin and self-etching adhesive system bonding agent. To assess esthetics, color change in the blue-yellow axis (Δb*) of the composite resin restoration was evaluated digitally with the Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) L*a*b color system. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used to assess Δb*, and a Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was used to assess the longevity of the restorations. The study findings showed a statistically significant difference between pretreatment and posttreatment b* values (P < 0.05), but the difference was too small to be clinically perceptible to the human eye. A total of 5 restorations (9.8%) failed. The remaining restorations survived for a mean (SD) period of 18.6 (4.4) months. The log-rank test did not show any significant association between the amount of residual tooth structure and success of the restoration. The results of this study showed that use of direct composite resin restorations in endodontically treated maxillary incisors resulted in acceptable survival and success rates. Background: Left atrial (LA) dilatation is linked to cardiovascular disease and atrial fibrillation but its associations in athletes are unknown. The authors investigated whether aerobic fitness and clinical parameters are associated with LA dilatation and emptying fraction (EF) in endurance athletes. Materials & methods: 65 endurance athletes underwent cardiovascular magnetic resonance to assess LA size and function along with fitness assessment. 25 sedentary controls underwent an identical cardiovascular magnetic resonance protocol. Results: In athletes, LA volume index was elevated, while total and passive LAEFs were decreased versus sedentary controls. Increasing age and maximal oxygen uptake were associated with LA volume index. Only older age was associated with decreased total LAEF. Conclusion: LA dilatation in athletes is associated with increasing age and aerobic fitness rather than conventional cardiovascular risk factors.

Abstract
Purpose Obesity adversely impacts outcomes during COVID-19 but its relation to mortality in those receiving extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is uncertain. Methods A retrospective multicenter study was conducted. Adult patients (≥18 years old) with severe COVID-19 infection placed on ECMO between March 1, 2020 to April 30, 2021, across the United States were included. A web-based database application, REDCap, was utilized to capture clinical characteristics and outcomes. Patients were grouped into tertiles of body mass index (BMI). The primary outcome was in-hospital mortality after ECMO placement assessed by a time-to-event analysis. Results Overall 444 patients (age 49, IQR: 38-57 years, 29% female, BMI: 33, IQR: 29-39 kg/m2) from 17 centers comprised the study cohort. Patients that expired during hospitalization had a similar BMI in comparison to those that were discharged (33, IQR: 29-38 vs. 34, IQR: 30-40 kg/m2, p=0.13). BMI across groups was 27, IQR: 25-29 (lowest tertile), 33, IQR: 32-34 (middle tertile), 41, IQR: 38-45 kg/m2 (highest tertile). At 90 days, in-hospital mortality between BMI tertiles was 53%, 59%, and 53%, p=0.99 (figure). After adjustment for clinical covariates including age, sex, presence of preexisting co-morbidities, cardiopulmonary arrest prior to ECMO, serum creatinine and arterial partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2) to inspired oxygen concentration (FiO2) ratio, there was no difference in hospital mortality in the middle (aHR:1.13, CI: 0.79-1.63, p=0.5) and highest (aHR: 1.38, CI: 0.95-2.01, p=0.09) tertiles in comparison to the lowest BMI tertile. Conclusion Severity of obesity is not associated with death during hospitalization in patients placed on ECMO for COVID-19

Abstract
Purpose: To determine the frequency of depressive illness in patients presenting with ocular complaints.
Study Design: Observational cross sectional study,
Place and Duration of Study: Watim Medical College, Rawat, Rawalpindi, from October 2021 to November 2021.
Methods: All the patients presenting with ocular diseases and visiting were included in the study. Patients were asked to complete an Urdu translated version of patient health questionnaire (PHQ 9). Inclusion criteria was patients more than 40 years of age, with ocular complaints and either gender. Patients with age less than 40 years, mentally and physically handicapped, having a previous history of psychiatric disease, deaf and mute, any terminal, chronic or debilitating ocular or systemic disease were excluded. The results were analyzed and expressed with descriptive data in frequencies and the numerical data in average and standard deviations. Chi square test of significance was applied taking p value of less than 0.05 as significant.
Results: A total of 537 patients (43.95% males and 56.05% females) were included. 60.71% of the participants were suffering from moderate to severe depression. Among them 12.1% had moderately severe and 16.76% had severe depression. More females (19.55%) suffered from depression which required treatment than males (9.31%).
Conclusion: Significant number of patients presenting with ocular complaints suffered from depression, which can affect or may be effected by the underlying ocular disease. The ophthalmologists should be aware of the entity and should take into account while treating the ocular disease.

Abstract
The aim of the present study is to assess the effects of selenium nanoparticles on the growth, hematology and nutrients digestibility of Labeorohita fingerlings. Fingerlings were fed with seven isocaloric sunflower meal-based diet supplemented with different concentrations of nanoparticles naming T1 to T7 (0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, and 3 mg/kg), with 5% wet body weight while chromic oxide was used as an indigestible marker. After experimentation for 90 days T3 treated group (1mg/kg -1Se-nano level) showed the best result in hematological parameters (WBC's 7.97 ×103mm-3, RBC's 2.98 ×106 mm-3 and Platelet count 67), nutrient digestibility (crude protein: 74%, ether extract: 76%, gross energy: 70%) and growth performance (weight gain 13.24 g, weight gain% 198, feed conversion ratio 1.5, survival rate 100%) as compared to the other treatment groups. Specific growth rates were found significantly higher in T5 than in other groups. The present study indicated positive effect of 1 mg/kg Se-nanoparticles on growth advancement, hematological parameters, and nutrients digestibility of L. rohita fingerlings.

Abstract
Dietary habits of bandicoot rats (bandicota bengalensis) were investigated in the agricultural crops of the Pothwar Plateau, Pakistan by analysing stomach contents. The research activities were conducted in major field crops including wheat-groundnut and in the fallow lands during non-crop season at the field boundaries. The specimens were captured from the fields using kill/snap traps, and dissected to collect their stomach samples for laboratory analysis. Light microscopic slides of the plant material were recovered from stomach samples and the reference materials were collected from the field. Results revealed that the bandicoot rat predominantly fed upon cultivated crops during cropping season but consumed wild vegetation during non-cropping season. There was no significance difference between summer and winter diets. Most frequently consumed crop food items were wheat (Triticum aestivum; 28.57%), groundnut (Arachis hypogea; 11.26%), sorghum (Sorghum bicolor; 10.17%), chickpea (Cicer arietinum; 9.52%), maize (Zea mays; 6.49%), millet (Pennisetum glaucum; 5.84%), barley (Hordeum vulgare; 4.98%) and mustard (Brassica campestris; 4.98%). Among wild vegetation were consumed khbal gha (Cynodon dactylon; 7.79%), baron dhab (Demostachya bipinnata; 7.36%) and Prickly flower (Achyranthes aspera; 3.03%). The study concludes that, in addition to consuming wheat and groundnut crops, the Lesser bandicoot rat also subsists on grasses, weeds, and some fodder crops, as important component of its diet in agro-ecosystem of the Pothwar Plateau.

Abstract
The vertical stacking of two-dimensional materials via van der Waals (vdW) interaction is a promising technique for tailoring the physical properties and fabricating potential devices to be applied in the emerging fields of materials science and nanotechnology. The structural, electronic and optical properties and photocatalytic performance of a GaN-SiS vdW heterostructure were explored using first principles calculations. The most stable stacking configuration found energetically stable, possesses a direct staggered band gap, which is crucial for separating photogenerated charged carriers in different constituents and is efficacious for solar cells. Further, the charge transfer occurred from the SiS to GaN layer, indicating that SiS exhibits p-type doping in the GaN-SiS heterobilayer. Interestingly, a systematic red-shift was observed in the optical absorption spectra of the understudy heterobilayer system. Moreover, the conduction band edge and valence band edge of the monolayers and corresponding heterostructure were located above and below the standard redox potentials for photocatalytic water splitting, making these systems promising for water dissociation for hydrogen fuel production. The results provide a route to design the GaN-SiS vdW heterostructure for the practical realization of next-generation light detection and energy harvesting devices.

Abstract
We present the first results of the Fermilab National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL) Muon g-2 Experiment for the positive muon magnetic anomaly a_{μ}≡(g_{μ}-2)/2. The anomaly is determined from the precision measurements of two angular frequencies. Intensity variation of high-energy positrons from muon decays directly encodes the difference frequency ω_{a} between the spin-precession and cyclotron frequencies for polarized muons in a magnetic storage ring. The storage ring magnetic field is measured using nuclear magnetic resonance probes calibrated in terms of the equivalent proton spin precession frequency ω[over ˜]_{p}^{'} in a spherical water sample at 34.7 °C. The ratio ω_{a}/ω[over ˜]_{p}^{'}, together with known fundamental constants, determines a_{μ}(FNAL)=116 592 040(54)×10^{-11} (0.46 ppm). The result is 3.3 standard deviations greater than the standard model prediction and is in excellent agreement with the previous Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) E821 measurement. After combination with previous measurements of both μ^{+} and μ^{-}, the new experimental average of a_{μ}(Exp)=116 592 061(41)×10^{-11} (0.35 ppm) increases the tension between experiment and theory to 4.2 standard deviations.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to determine the impact of preoperative exposure to intravenous contrast for CT and the risk of developing postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients undergoing major gastrointestinal surgery. METHODS This prospective, multicentre cohort study included adults undergoing gastrointestinal resection, stoma reversal or liver resection. Both elective and emergency procedures were included. Preoperative exposure to intravenous contrast was defined as exposure to contrast administered for the purposes of CT up to 7 days before surgery. The primary endpoint was the rate of AKI within 7 days. Propensity score-matched models were adjusted for patient, disease and operative variables. In a sensitivity analysis, a propensity score-matched model explored the association between preoperative exposure to contrast and AKI in the first 48 h after surgery. RESULTS A total of 5378 patients were included across 173 centres. Overall, 1249 patients (23·2 per cent) received intravenous contrast. The overall rate of AKI within 7 days of surgery was 13·4 per cent (718 of 5378). In the propensity score-matched model, preoperative exposure to contrast was not associated with AKI within 7 days (odds ratio (OR) 0·95, 95 per cent c.i. 0·73 to 1·21; P = 0·669). The sensitivity analysis showed no association between preoperative contrast administration and AKI within 48 h after operation (OR 1·09, 0·84 to 1·41; P = 0·498). CONCLUSION There was no association between preoperative intravenous contrast administered for CT up to 7 days before surgery and postoperative AKI. Risk of contrast-induced nephropathy should not be used as a reason to avoid contrast-enhanced CT.

Abstract
The most critical energy and environmental challenge that our planet is facing today is to minimize the dependence on fossil fuels. Carbon dioxide may be of utmost significance as a solution of this issue through realization of carbon neutral energy cycle. Potentially, this could be achieved through the carbon dioxide capture as the urgent response to ongoing climate change. Activated carbon (AC) adsorption is one the most effective, environment friendly and techno-economic process for the carbon capture. In the current research, an electro-conductive-activated carbon was prepared by mixing powdered activated carbon (PAC) with an electro-conductive polymer (ECP). Different ratios of 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 wt% of ECP with PAC were used for the different analyses of activated carbons in a gas mixture of CO2/N2 using a physical adsorption system. Adsorption and desorption analyses, capacities of the process and desorption effects were examined. Electro-conductive polymers (ECP) were mixed with AC samples, where breakthrough time was increased up to 400% when mixed with the PAC for CO2 adsorption. Following adsorption analysis, desorption of activated carbons was conducted with different potentials. It was revealed that mixing could help the PAC sample to overcome the packing issue to increase the breakthrough capacity and the volumes before and after the breakthrough adsorption in the packed bed systems. The desorption rates of the PAC sample were also enhanced, and fast desorption was observed when mixed with ECP. It is envisioned that this method is very much promising carbon capture method for the techno-economic feasibility and sustainable development of the environment.

Abstract
Sustainability in power generation mainly depends on the transition from fossils to sustainable energy resources. Biomass from the crop residue has huge potential for renewable power generation, but it is still not utilized to its full potential. This study presents a comprehensive methodology to evaluate and forecast the current and future availability of selective crop residue to generate renewable energy. A forecast model incorporating historical trends in the crop yield has been developed in MATLAB and implemented for crop residue based biomass resource assessment of five primary crops (wheat straw, rice husk, rice straw, cotton straw, corn stover, and bagasse) in order to estimate the energy generation potential for Pakistan from 2018 till 2035. It was found that about 40 million tonnes of crop residue was available in Pakistan for power generation in the year 2018 considering a residue removal (availability) factor of 50%. This translates to an estimated potential of about 11,000 MW of electricity generation capacity using crop residue derived biomass for 2018. This capacity is predicted to gradually increase up to 16,000 MW by the year 2035 based on the trends in the growth of crop production since 2001. The suitability of a potential region for the installation of 100 MW biomass-fired power plants was also assessed by calculating crop residue density and an equivalent collection radius (Re) of 50 km (km). Punjab province of Pakistan, being an agricultural province, with relatively better road infrastructure can sustain crop residue based power plants of up to 7000 MW cumulative capacity at various locations. The challenges, such as economic, logistics, regulatory and political barriers, in generating renewable energy from biomass along with their potential solutions were also discussed. The study also provides a baseline for future research to evaluate and forecast the growth in bio-power generation potential of any biomass resource in a region based on crop yield and area of the region.

Dobutamine stress echocardiography (DSE) has been used as a safe stress modality for assessing myocardial ischemia. Acute myocardial infarction is one of the rare complications of DSE. In this report, we will discuss a case of a 60 year old lady who developed anterior ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI) after a negative DSE.
Case report
60 year old lady with a background of PCI to LAD in 2009 presented with angina , a repeat angiogram showed mild to moderate in stent restenosis (ISR) within the LAD but instant wave-free ratio (IFR ) was 0.94 , Fractional Flow Reserve(FFR) 0.84 and negative IVUS studies. Despite that, the patient continued to have chest pain with effort and therefore a DSE was requested. The patient was stressed with intravenous Dobutamine with a maximum dose of 40mcg/kg/min plus 600mcg of atropine. There was no evidence of ischemia. The Patient developed chest pain 15 minutes later. ECG was done and showed ST elevation in anterior leads. Urgent angiography was undertaken which showed acute thrombotic occlusion in the mid LAD with TIMI 0 flow (within the area where ISR had been seen previously) (fig1) . Percutaneous intervention was undertaken and TIMI III flow was restored.
Discussion
Acute STEMI within a few hours after normal DSE is very rare with an incidence of 0.02% (range 0.00% to 0.10%) Plaque destabilisation and rupture are the possible underlying mechanisms behind coronary occlusion. Interestingly, most of the cases happen within 30 mins after the test.
The activation of sympathetic nervous system leads to increased catecholamines, blood viscosity, arterial pressure and heart rate, which are accompanied by detectable increase in platelet aggregation and decrease in fibrinolytic activity that both tend to favour thrombosis. This could lead to propagation of mural thrombus overlying a small plaque erosion that might otherwise have been harmless.
Another interesting learning point is the correlation between chronotropic incompetence (CI) and myocardial ischaemia. Low basal heart rate is one of the predictors of CI (baseline average heart rate of 60 bpm in our case, and she managed to achieve only 81% of target Heart rate (THR) despite the maximum dose of dobutamine and atropine). Many studies examined the significance of CI. Impaired Chronotropic response is associated with an increased risk of mortality and MI. Possible explanation is that patients with CI fail to demonstrate or underestimate extent of ischemia.
With the experience of our case and similar cases from the literature, we suggest symptoms of chest pain should be seriously attended even after a normal DSE. The risk of life-threatening complication should be informed to patients and enough time should be taken for observation post stress test.
More research is needed to clarify the role of DSE in CI patients on account of its potential normal result with submaximal THR and risk of life threatening cardiac event.

Background:
Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) analysis holds potential for minimal residual disease (MRD) detection in early stage breast cancer. However, sensitivity for MRD is limited due to low ctDNA levels in early stage patients and limited blood volumes. Loss of input DNA during library preparation, limited multiplexing or low sensitivity of current molecular methods further limit accuracy. To address this gap, we have developed TARgeted DIgital Sequencing (TARDIS), a novel method for simultaneous analysis of multiple patient-specific mutations in plasma DNA.
Methods:
Using tumor exome sequencing, we identify and prioritize somatic founder mutations, design nested primers and evaluate them for multiplex performance. Using 5-10 ng input plasma DNA, we perform 1) targeted linear pre-amplification to improve downstream molecular conversion, 2) single-stranded adapter ligation to incorporate unique molecular identifiers (UMIs) and 3) targeted PCR to prepare sequencing-ready libraries. The resulting sequencing reads have fixed target-specific ends and variable ligation ends. We utilize fragment size and UMIs to group sequencing reads into read families. To ensure specificity, we require targeted mutations are supported by 2 or more read families.
Results:
To assess analytical performance, we targeted 8 mutations in cell-free DNA reference samples with 0.25%-2% mutation allele fractions (AFs). Precision across 7-16 replicates at each AF level agreed with expectations of Poisson distribution, demonstrating effective analysis of ˜70% of input DNA. At 2%, 1%, 0.5% and 0.25% AFs, variant-level sensitivity was 96.4%, 96.4%, 91.1% and 65.8%, approaching the theoretical limit given input DNA. At 0.25% AF, 3-7 mutations were detected per sample, achieving 100% sample-level sensitivity. In 16 wild-type replicates, no targeted mutations were called (100% specificity). Averaging multiple mutations improved precision in sample-level AF estimates. Mean AFs from 8 mutations for the 2% sample were 2.34%-2.80% (5.8% CV).
In 6 patients with breast cancer treated with neoadjuvant therapy (NAT), we analyzed 8-18 patient-specific mutations (mean 11.8). Before treatment, ctDNA was detected in 5/6 patients at mean AFs of 0.02%-1.19% (mean 0.40%), supported by 2-10 mutations (mean 5.6). Of these 5 patients, 4 had residual disease after NAT and ctDNA was detected pre-operatively or during NAT in 3/4 patients. 1 patient achieved pathological Complete Response and ctDNA was undetectable after NAT.
Conclusions:
Preliminary results suggest TARDIS enables accurate MRD detection after neoadjuvant therapy in patients with early stage breast cancer. On-going work is expanding this analysis to include additional patients and investigate the clinical validity of peri-operative ctDNA monitoring.

Abstract
Partial or complete substitution of coal with renewable biomass like wood is a sustainable and effective solution to reduce the CO2 emissions in the atmosphere. Utilization of these woods in the form of compact pellets facilitates in its handling and transportation with higher energy density. However, for electric power generation the pellets are broken up into their constituent milled finer particles for burning as a pulverised biomass flame. There is a dust fire/explosibility hazards in the process handling facilities such as in storage, conveying and milling. In the present work, four commercial pellets were investigated, and each pellet sample was split into three size ranges <63 μm, 63-500 μm and <500 μm. The flame propagation characteristics and their lean flammability limit for each pulverised pellet was determined using modified Hartmann dust explosion tube. It was found that the fine particles, with lower lean flammability limits of 0.3-0.7 equivalence ratio, intensify the explosibility risk (dP/dt of 10-15 bar/s for most reactive concentration) of the dust due to fast volatile release rate. Comparison was also made between particle size distribution (PSD) of the finer fractions (<63 μm) of wood samples in comparison to crop residue samples that showed 70-80% larger size distribution for wood samples due to elongated particles as showed by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Results showed that the ash + moisture content had a stronger effect on wood samples than on agricultural residue's samples. The results showed that the explosibility characteristics of the pellets industry's feed-stocks was variable and dependent on the pellet composition and this needs to be taken into account in explosion protection and in utilising the pellets in the main pulverised biomass combustion.

Abstract
In-situ regeneration of a granular activated carbon was conducted for the first time using electric potential swing desorption (EPSD) with potentials up to 30 V. The EPSD system was compared against a standard non-potential system using a fixed-bed reactor with a bed of 10 g of activated carbon treating a gas mixture with 10,000 ppm H2S. Breakthrough times, adsorption desorption volume, capacities, effect of regeneration and desorption kinetics were investigated. The analysis showed that desorption of H2S using the new EPSD system was 3 times quicker compared with the no potential system. Hence, physical adsorption using EPSD over activated carbon is efficient, safe and environmental friendly and could be used for the in-situ regeneration of granular activated carbon without using a PSA and/or TSA system. Additionally, adsorption and desorption cycles can be obtained with a classical two column system, which could lead towards a more efficient and economic biogas to biomethane process.

Abstract
Cotton dusky bug (Oxycarenus spp.) mostly attack on cash crops such as Gossypium, Cola and Hibiscus which affect the national economy therefore sustainable pest management is needed. Cytochrome c oxidase I (COI) gene is utilized as marker gene for DNA barcoding, genetic and ecological study of insects. In present study insect (cotton dusky bug) samples were collected from cotton fields in Faisalabad. COI gene was amplified from genomic DNA of bug and cloned into pTZ57R/T vector (Fermentas). The clone was sent to Macrogen (South Korea) for Sanger sequencing. The phylogenetic analysis and pairwise multiple sequence alignment showed that our cotton dusky bug grouped with two species of Oxycarenus genus and highest sequence identity was 91.1% with Oxycarenus hylinipennis. This is the first report of genetic barcode of Oxycarenus hylinipennis from cotton from Pakistan.

Abstract
AbstractThe comparative adsorption studies of Cr (VI) on nano and micro-powder Fe2O3 were investigated using kinetics and batch adsorption techniques. The uptake of chromate onto both the oxides of iron was observed to be dependent on the pH, contact time, temperature, media dosage and concentration of chromate anions. The values of sorption maxima were higher in the case of Fe2O3 nanopowder than the micro-powder which can be ascribed to the high surface area and point of zero charge (PZC) of the former oxide. The Dubinin-Radushkivech and Langmuir models were found well fitted for the description of the batch adsorption data. The FTIR studies confirmed that the hexavalent chromium was adsorbed onto both the iron oxides in the form of the Cr2O72−.
