Abstract
CSL-112, a recombinant human apolipoprotein A-I, holds promise for treating atherosclerotic disease by promoting reverse cholesterol transport. This review evaluates the current evidence on CSL-112's impact on atherosclerotic disease. A search identified studies investigating the effect of CSL-112 on apolipoprotein A-I levels, cholesterol efflux capacity, clinical outcomes, safety profile, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and subgroup analysis in patients with atherosclerotic disease. All nine studies consistently demonstrated a dose-dependent increase in apolipoprotein A-I levels following CSL-112 administration. Most studies also reported a corresponding rise in cholesterol efflux capacity. However, the AEGIS-II trial, the largest study to date, did not show a statistically significant reduction in major adverse cardiovascular events in patients with acute myocardial infarction treated with CSL-112 compared to placebo. While some smaller studies suggested potential benefits, particularly in stable atherosclerotic disease, their limitations in size and duration necessitate further investigation. CSL-112 appeared to be generally well-tolerated, with mostly mild or moderate adverse events reported. However, the AEGIS-II trial identified a higher incidence of hypersensitivity reactions in the CSL-112 group, requiring further exploration. CSL-112 demonstrates promise in raising apolipoprotein A-I levels and enhancing cholesterol efflux capacity, potentially promoting reverse cholesterol transport. However, its clinical efficacy for atherosclerotic disease remains unclear. Larger, well-designed trials with longer follow-up periods are necessary to definitively establish its clinical benefit and safety profile before widespread clinical use can be considered. Future research should also explore deeper into the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profile of CSL-112 and explore its efficacy and safety in different patient subgroups.

Abstract
Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs), a remarkable technological advancement in neurology and neurosurgery, mark a significant leap since the inception of electroencephalography (EEG) in 1924. These interfaces effectively convert central nervous system signals into commands for external devices, offering revolutionary benefits to patients with severe communication and motor impairments due to a myriad of neurological conditions like stroke, spinal cord injuries, and neurodegenerative disorders. BCIs enable these individuals to communicate and interact with their environment, using their brain signals to operate interfaces for communication and environmental control. This technology is especially crucial for those completely locked in, providing a communication lifeline where other methods fall short. The advantages of BCIs are profound, offering autonomy and an improved quality of life for patients with severe disabilities. They allow for direct interaction with various devices and prostheses, bypassing damaged or non-functional neural pathways. However, challenges persist, including the complexity of accurately interpreting brain signals, the need for individual calibration, and ensuring reliable, long-term use. Additionally, ethical considerations arise regarding autonomy, consent, and the potential for dependence on technology. Despite these challenges, BCIs represent a transformative development in neurotechnology, promising enhanced patient outcomes and a deeper understanding of brain-machine interfaces.

Abstract
Ovarian cancer, ranked as the second leading cause of gynecologic malignancy-related deaths globally, poses a formidable challenge despite advances in early detection and treatment modalities. This paper explores the efficacy and safety of mirvetuximab soravtansine, the first folate receptor alpha (FRα)-targeting antibody-drug conjugate, in platinum-resistant ovarian cancer expressing FRα. A review of 4 key studies involving 453 participants consistently demonstrates mirvetuximab soravtansine's clinically meaningful antitumor activity and favorable safety profile. Clinical implications emphasize mirvetuximab soravtansine's pivotal role in targeted therapy, especially for high FRα-expressing tumors, potentially reshaping platinum-resistant ovarian cancer management. The combination therapy approach introduces a novel dimension, suggesting enhanced therapeutic outcomes. Even in heavily pretreated patients, mirvetuximab soravtansine's favorable tolerability positions it as a viable option. The reliability of archival tissue for FRα assessment simplifies patient selection, streamlining accessibility to targeted therapies. However, identified gaps, including limited diversity in patient populations, sparse quality of life data, and the need for long-term safety information, indicate areas for future research. Exploration of additional biomarkers predicting mirvetuximab soravtansine responsiveness is essential for personalized treatment.

Abstract
The year 2022 witnessed an alarming surge in state-based armed conflicts globally, reaching a staggering 56, with major hostilities in Ukraine, Myanmar, and Nigeria resulting in over 10,000 estimated conflict-related deaths. This trend continued with the onset of a significant conflict between Israel and Hamas in October 2023. The escalating frequency of armed conflicts, reaching the highest number since 1946, poses a critical threat to global health. This paper explores the multifaceted health impacts of armed conflicts, encompassing physical injuries, infectious diseases, malnutrition, and profound mental health consequences. Healthcare systems in conflict zones face severe strain, and achieving Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 becomes increasingly challenging. The surge in armed conflicts globally is characterized as a "pandemic," justifying urgent attention. The paper identifies and discusses strategies to safeguard public health in conflict zones, emphasizing humanitarian response, protecting healthcare workers and infrastructure, building preparedness and resilience, and promoting mental health support. In navigating this "pandemic" of armed conflicts, comprehensive strategies are imperative to address the intricate challenges and secure a healthier global future.

Abstract
This mini-narrative review explores the relationship between diabetes and dementia, focusing on the potential mitigating role of metformin in reducing cognitive decline among individuals with type 2 diabetes. The interplay of factors such as glycemic control, diabetic complications, and lifestyle influences characterises diabetes-related dementia. This review emphasises the significance of comprehensive diabetes management in addressing the heightened risk of dementia in this population. Methodologically, the review synthesises evidence from 23 studies retrieved through searches on PubMed, Embase, Google Scholar, and Scopus. Current evidence suggests a predominantly positive association between metformin use and a reduced risk of dementia in individuals with diabetes. However, the review shows the complex nature of these outcomes, revealing variations in results in some studies. These discrepancies show the importance of exploring dose-response relationships, long-term effects, and demographic diversity to unravel the complexities of metformin's impact on cognitive health. Limitations in the existing body of research, including methodological disparities and confounding variables, necessitate refined approaches in future studies. Large-scale prospective longitudinal studies and randomised controlled trials focusing specifically on cognitive effects are recommended. Propensity score matching and exploration of molecular mechanisms can enhance the validity of findings in clinical practice. From a clinical perspective, metformin can serve as a potential adjunctive therapy for individuals with diabetes at risk of cognitive decline.

Abstract
Heart failure (HF) is a prevalent and debilitating global cardiovascular condition affecting around 64 million individuals, placing significant strain on healthcare systems and diminishing patients' quality of life. The escalating prevalence of HF underscores the urgent need for innovative therapeutic approaches that target the root causes and aim to restore normal cardiac function. Stem cell-based therapies have emerged as promising candidates, representing a fundamental departure from conventional treatments focused primarily on symptom management. This review explores the evolving landscape of stem cell-based therapies for HF management. It delves into the mechanisms of action, clinical evidence from both positive and negative outcomes, ethical considerations, and regulatory challenges. Key findings include the potential for improved cardiac function, enhanced quality of life, and long-term benefits associated with stem cell therapies. However, adverse events and patient vulnerabilities necessitate stringent safety assessments. Future directions in stem cell-based HF therapies include enhancing efficacy and safety through optimized stem cell types, delivery techniques, dosing strategies, and long-term safety assessments. Personalized medicine, combining therapies, addressing ethical and regulatory challenges, and expanding access while reducing costs are crucial aspects of the evolving landscape.

Exploring the landscape of intracranial aneurysms in South America unravels a complex interplay of epidemiological factors, clinical manifestations, and therapeutic challenges. The study methodically conducts a comprehensive literature review spanning the years 2003 to 2023, focusing on English-language articles obtained from diverse databases to elucidate the multifaceted nature of intracranial aneurysms in the region. Results and discussions categorize outcomes into positive domains, emphasizing successful treatments, favorable recoveries, and high survival rates, while also shedding light on negative aspects such as residual aneurysms and complications. The research illuminates significant gaps in pathological typing of intracranial aneurysms and exposes challenges in healthcare accessibility, notably the disparities in neurosurgical resources. Management challenges, including constrained infrastructure access, a neurosurgeon shortage, and gender disparities, are underscored. Transitioning to future prospects, the study advocates for strategic interventions, proposing expanded neurosurgical training, multidisciplinary approaches, improved funding, enhanced access to care, and fostering international collaborations. The study concludes by emphasizing the pivotal role of collaborative efforts, intensified training programs, and global partnerships in propelling intracranial aneurysm management forward in South America, ultimately contributing to enhanced patient outcomes across the region.

Abstract
Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by motor and non-motor symptoms, including hallucinations. The use of antipsychotic medications is a common strategy to manage hallucinations associated with Parkinson's disease psychosis (PDP). However, careful consideration is necessary when selecting the most appropriate drug due to the potential risks associated with the available treatment options. Atypical antipsychotics (AAPs), such as Pimavanserin and Clozapine, have effectively controlled PDP symptoms. On the contrary, the support for utilizing quetiapine is not as substantial as other antipsychotics because research studies specifically investigating its application are still emerging and relatively recent. The broad mechanisms of action of AAPs, involving dopamine and serotonin receptors, provide improved outcomes and fewer side effects than typical antipsychotics. Conversely, other antipsychotics, including risperidone, olanzapine, aripiprazole, ziprasidone, and lurasidone, have been found to worsen motor symptoms and are generally not recommended for PDP. While AAPs offer favorable benefits, they are associated with specific adverse effects. Extrapyramidal symptoms, somnolence, hypotension, constipation, and cognitive impairment are commonly observed with AAP use. Clozapine, in particular, carries a risk of agranulocytosis, necessitating close monitoring of blood counts. Pimavanserin, a selective serotonin inverse agonist, avoids receptor-related side effects but has been linked to corrected QT (QTc) interval prolongation, while quetiapine has been reported to be associated with an increased risk of mortality. This review aims to analyze the benefits, risks, and mechanisms of action of antipsychotic medications to assist clinicians in making informed decisions and enhance patient care.

Abstract
RNA interference therapies, particularly small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) like Inclisiran, have shown great potential in managing dyslipidemia, a significant risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Inclisiran targets pro-protein convertasesubtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) mRNA to reduce low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels. This review evaluates Inclisiran's efficacy, safety, and clinical applications in managing dyslipidemia. A review of clinical trials evaluating Inclisiran's efficacy and safety in dyslipidemia management was conducted. PubMed, Embase, Google Scholar and Scopus were searched for relevant trials. Inclusion criteria covered clinical trials in English, published within the last six years, involving human subjects. 12 clinical trials were included in this review, demonstrating Inclisiran's consistent efficacy in reducing LDL-C levels across diverse patient populations, even in statin intolerance or resistance cases. The efficacy was observed over various durations, with some trials extending up to 4 years. Inclisiran demonstrated a favourable safety profile, with mild adverse events reported in most trials, suggesting its potential as a well-tolerated treatment option. Inclisiran's consistent efficacy and safety profile make it a promising option for managing dyslipidemia. Future studies should confirm its long-term effects and explore its clinical implications in diverse patient populations and high-risk scenarios.

Abstract
Adequate sleep is crucial for individuals' well-being and cognitive functioning. However, medical students face unique challenges that disrupt their sleep patterns, such as a rigorous curriculum, long study hours, and high-stress levels. Understanding the sleep patterns and quality among medical students in Nigeria is important to develop targeted interventions and support their overall well-being. This study involved 802 medical students from 3 medical schools in Southwest Nigeria. Participants completed an online questionnaire that collected data on their demographic characteristics, sleep patterns and self-reported sleep quality. Descriptive statistics and correlation analysis were used to analyze the data and identify patterns and associations. Most participants were female (56.9%), with the highest representation from the UNILORIN (65.5%). The average reported sleep duration was 5.74 hours per night, indicating insufficient sleep. Irregular bedtimes and wake-up times were commonly reported. A significant proportion of students consumed coffee late at night (27.1%) and used medication to induce sleep (24.3%). Sleep patterns and behaviors, such as snoring (36.1%) and nocturnal eating (57.6%), were reported. Overall, participants reported satisfactory (28.3%) or poor (29.7%) sleep quality. Correlation analysis revealed significant associations between sleep patterns, sleep quality, academic performance, and other sleep-related factors. The study identified insufficient sleep duration, irregular bedtimes, late-night coffee consumption, and poor sleep quality. These findings emphasize the need for interventions and strategies to promote healthy sleep habits among medical students, which can positively impact their overall health and academic performance.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Dravet Syndrome (DS) is a rare and severe form of childhood epilepsy that is often refractory to conventional antiepileptic drugs. Emerging evidence suggests that Cannabidiol (CBD) offer therapeutic benefits for DS. This review aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of CBD in pediatric patients with DS based on data from ten clinical trials. METHODS A review was conducted to identify clinical trials assessing the efficacy and safety of CBD in pediatric patients diagnosed with DS. PubMed, MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science, and relevant grey literature were systematically searched for relevant articles up to October 2023, and clinical trials within the last 10 years were included. The search strategy incorporated controlled vocabulary terms and keywords related to "Cannabidiol," "Dravet Syndrome," and "pediatric patients." RESULTS The analysis revealed promising efficacy outcomes. Notably, CBD demonstrated substantial reductions in seizure frequency, with some patients achieving seizure freedom. The findings emphasised the consistency of CBD's efficacy across different patient subgroups. The safety profile of CBD was generally acceptable, with adverse events often being manageable. CONCLUSION This review consolidates evidence from multiple clinical trials, affirming the potential of CBD as a promising treatment option for pediatric patients with DS. While further research is needed to address existing knowledge gaps, CBD's efficacy and acceptable safety profile make it a valuable addition to the therapeutic tools for DS.

Surgical access remains a pressing public health concern in African nations, with a substantial portion of the population facing challenges in obtaining safe, timely, and affordable surgical care. This paper delves into the impact of health insurance schemes on surgical accessibility in Africa, exploring the barriers, challenges, and future directions. It highlights how high out-of-pocket costs, reliance on traditional healing practices, and inadequate surgical infrastructure hinder surgical utilization. Financing mechanisms often need to be more effective, and health insurance programs face resistance within the informal sector. Additionally, coverage of the poor remains a fundamental challenge, with geographical and accessibility barriers compounding the issue. Government policies, often marked by inconsistency and insufficient allocation of resources, create further obstacles. However, strategic purchasing and fund integration offer avenues for improving the efficiency of health insurance programs. The paper concludes by offering policy recommendations, emphasizing the importance of inclusive policies, streamlined financing mechanisms, coverage expansion, and enhanced strategic purchasing to bridge the surgical access gap in Africa. Abstract
BACKGROUND Emergency airway management in resource-limited settings presents multifaceted challenges due to shortages in essential medical resources, healthcare professionals, and infrastructure. METHODS We conducted a literature search using keywords "Emergency Airway Management" "Low Resource" "Africa" "Asia" from databases such as Pubmed, and Google Scholar, from where we extracted relevant literature for our study. FINDINGS These limitations resulted in delayed interventions, suboptimal care, and higher complication rates during intubation procedures. However, innovative solutions have emerged to address these challenges, including cost-effective airway management devices and training programs tailored for non-medical personnel. Capacity building and local empowerment are critical components of improving emergency airway management in these settings. Additionally, advocating for policy support and investment in healthcare infrastructure is essential to ensure access to essential equipment and adequate staffing. Collaboration and knowledge-sharing networks among healthcare professionals and organisations are pivotal in disseminating best practices and advancing healthcare delivery in resource-limited regions. CONCLUSION Future efforts should focus on tailored training programs, rigorous research, innovative device development, telemedicine solutions, sustainable capacity building, and advocacy to enhance emergency airway management in resource-limited settings.

Abstract
Group B streptococcus (GBS) poses a significant threat to neonates, leading to morbidity and mortality. Intrapartum antibiotics, although effective, have limitations, prompting the exploration of maternal vaccination. This study reviews the current evidence for maternal GBS vaccination in the prevention of early-onset GBS disease in newborns. A search on Google Scholar, PubMed, and Scopus identified studies assessing the impact of maternal GBS vaccination on early-onset GBS disease. Inclusion criteria comprised English-language clinical trials or observational studies. Data extraction included study details, immunogenicity profiles, effectiveness, safety outcomes, and relevant findings. Qualitative synthesis was employed for data analysis. Five studies meeting the inclusion criteria were reviewed. Maternal GBS vaccines demonstrated efficacy with sustained immunogenicity. Adverse events, although documented, were predominantly non-severe. Variability in immune responses and maternal-to-infant antibody ratios show the need for tailored vaccination approaches. Long-term follow up and surveillance are essential to assess persistence and identify unintended effects. Positive outcomes in vaccine efficacy support GBS vaccination integration into maternal health programs. Implementation challenges in diverse healthcare infrastructures require tailored approaches, especially in resource-limited settings. Overcoming cultural barriers and ensuring healthcare provider awareness are crucial for successful vaccination.

It advocates for global collaboration and partnerships with international organizations, proposing the expansion of the Global SYMPLICITY Registry to include more LMICs; a testament to a commitment to research advancement. The paper concludes by highlighting comprehensive strategies to overcome challenges, making RDN financially viable in resource-limited settings. Abstract
Cholera continues to severely threaten public health, particularly in regions with inadequate access to clean water and sanitation. Zimbabwe, a southern African nation, has witnessed recurrent cholera outbreaks, highlighting the enduring vulnerabilities faced by communities grappling with these underlying challenges. The 2023 cholera outbreak in Chegutu resulted in a devastating impact, with approximately 100 reported deaths and nearly 5000 confirmed and suspected cases. Beyond its immediate health consequences, the outbreak has strained the already fragile healthcare system, exacerbated issues of malnutrition, and disrupted education, particularly affecting vulnerable populations. The Zimbabwean government, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and international agencies have initiated comprehensive efforts to combat the outbreak, encompassing medical treatment, surveillance, public health measures, infrastructure improvement, and community empowerment. Policy recommendations and future directions are discussed, emphasising risk communication, stakeholder engagement, standardisation, evaluation, resource allocation, and capacity-building to bolster prevention and control measures.

Abstract
Ovarian cancer presents a significant health challenge in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), where late-stage diagnosis contributes to high mortality rates. This diagnostic gap arises from limited resources, poor healthcare infrastructure, and a lack of awareness about the disease. However, a potential game-changer is emerging in the form of liquid biopsy (LB), a minimally invasive diagnostic method. This paper analyses the current diagnostic gap in ovarian cancer in SSA, highlighting the socio-economic, cultural, and infrastructural factors that hinder early diagnosis and treatment. It discusses the challenges and potential of LB in the context of SSA, emphasizing its cost-effectiveness and adaptability to resource-limited settings. The transformative potential of LB in SSA is promising, offering a safer, more accessible, and cost-effective approach to ovarian cancer diagnosis. This paper provides recommendations for future directions, emphasizing the need for research, infrastructure development, stakeholder engagement, and international collaboration. By recognizing the transformative potential of LB and addressing the diagnostic gap, we can pave the way for early detection, improved treatment, and better outcomes for ovarian cancer patients in SSA. This paper sheds light on a path toward better healthcare access and equity in the region.

Abstract
Background Stroke remains one of the leading complications of sickle cell anaemia (SCA) in children. Traditionally, SCA treatment focused on symptom relief. However, the high incidence of strokes in children has prompted a reevaluation of treatment, particularly hydroxyurea, for secondary stroke prevention. This study assesses hydroxyurea's effectiveness and safety in preventing secondary strokes in paediatric SCA patients. Methods This systematic review followed a pre-defined protocol registered with PROSPERO. Comprehensive searches were conducted across PubMed, Embase, Scopus, MEDLINE, Google Scholar, and the Cochrane Library up to August 2023. Studies were included involving paediatric SCA patients at risk of secondary stroke, assessing hydroxyurea as the primary intervention. Results A total of six studies meeting inclusion criteria were included. The effectiveness of hydroxyurea in preventing secondary strokes, with variable responses reported across studies. Adverse effects, including mild neutropenia, are associated with hydroxyurea treatment but with variability in reported toxicity levels. Conclusion Hydroxyurea holds promise in preventing recurrent strokes in children with SCA, though its efficacy and safety profiles vary among individuals. Optimal dosages and treatment durations require further investigation, necessitating vigilant monitoring of haematological parameters. Future research should refine dosing strategies, consider individual patient characteristics, assess long-term effects, and explore ancillary benefits beyond stroke prevention.

Evidence synthesis underscores the importance of considering age, urinary health, and lifestyle factors in elucidating the ejaculation frequency-prostate cancer relationship. Notably, technological advancements, including machine learning models and genetic markers, enhance the precision of patient counselling and individualized care. In a clinical context, the findings emphasize the clinical relevance of incorporating sexual behavior into preventive strategies. Public health campaigns emerge as influential tools, breaking taboos, raising awareness, and empowering men to prioritize their well-being. The paradigm shift in prostate cancer understanding, fueled by technology and personalized medicine, holds promise for more accurate risk assessments. Liquid biopsies, multiparametric MRI, and considerations of the gut microbiome present avenues for tailored preventive strategies. This paper examines the far-reaching implications of Triple Artemisinin-Based Combination Therapy (TACT) in the global battle against malaria. Artemisinin-Based Combination Therapy (ACT) is recognized for its cost-effectiveness, lower likelihood of adverse events, and widespread acceptance by patients and healthcare providers. However, TACT introduces novel dimensions to the fight against malaria that make them a superior choice in several aspects. TACT has been demonstrated to address resistance, offer a broader spectrum of action, reduce the risk of treatment failure, and can be tailored to meet regional needs, strengthening the global effort to combat malaria. However, maximizing these benefits of TACT depends on accessibility, particularly in resource-limited regions where malaria is most prevalent. Collaborative efforts among stakeholders, sustainable pricing strategies, efficient supply chains, and public-private partnerships are essential to ensure that TACT reaches needy populations. Moreover, dispelling prevalent malaria myths through health education campaigns is critical in this endeavour. The paper underscores the significance of collaborative initiatives and partnerships among governments, international organizations, research institutions, acadaemia, pharmaceutical companies, and local communities. Together, these efforts can pave the way for the acceptance, adoption, and success of TACT, ultimately advancing the global goal of a malaria-free world.

Abstract
Craniosynostosis, marked by premature cranial suture fusion, necessitates prompt intervention to avert developmental, neurological, and aesthetic issues. While high-income countries have advanced in managing this condition, low- and middle-income countries grapple with substantial healthcare access disparities. This narrative review explores current craniosynostosis management in low- and middle-income countries. The review focused on studies published between 2008 and 2023. The focus was neurosurgical outcomes, and the search utilised databases like PubMed, EMBASE, Google Scholar, the Cochrane Library and Scopus, incorporating specific keywords and phrases. An in-depth analysis of 21 included studies reveals noteworthy positive outcomes, including low mortality, successful corrections and sustained efficacy. These advancements stem from enhanced pre-operative strategies, surgical techniques and postoperative care. Nonetheless, challenges persist, encompassing complications, mortality, reoperations, and treatment disparities, particularly in low- and middle-income countries constrained by financial and expertise limitations. The enhancement of clinical practice and the formulation of effective policies in the future entail several key strategies. These include the reinforcement of specialised healthcare infrastructure and diagnostic capabilities, the ongoing training and retention of neurosurgeons, the improvement of funding mechanisms, and the promotion of equitable access. Additionally, a crucial focus is placed on fortifying paediatric neurosurgical care in low- and middle-income countries. The recommendations underscore the importance of collaborative initiatives, the development of specialised healthcare infrastructure, and the implementation of strategic policies to not only advance pediatric neurosurgical care but also to address existing gaps in management.

Malaria affects millions of lives annually, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions. Despite being largely preventable, 2021 witnessed 247 million infections and over 600,000 deaths across 85 countries. In the ongoing battle against malaria, a promising development has emerged with the endorsement by the World Health Organization (WHO) of the R21/Matrix-M™ Malaria Vaccine. Developed through a collaboration between the University of Oxford and Novavax, this vaccine has demonstrated remarkable efficacy, reaching 77% effectiveness in Phase 2 clinical trials. It is designed to be low-dose, cost-effective, and accessible, with approval for use in children under three years old. This perspective paper critically examines the R21/Matrix-M malaria vaccine, its development, potential impact on global malaria eradication efforts, and the challenges and opportunities it presents.

A systematic search of electronic databases, including PubMed, MEDLINE, Scopus, and Web of Science, was conducted to identify relevant articles published up to October 2023. The search strategy utilized a combination of keywords, including "AE37 HER2 vaccine," "breast cancer recurrence prevention," and related terms. Boolean operators (AND, OR) were employed to refine the search. The AE37 vaccine exhibited a favorable safety profile across all studies, with minimal adverse effects reported. Efficacy outcomes varied, with promising trends observed in specific breast cancer subgroups, such as advanced-stage, HER2 under-expressed, and triple-negative breast cancer patients. Subgroup analyses suggested potential benefits, emphasizing the need for precise patient stratification. While the AE37 HER2-targeted vaccine demonstrates a promising safety profile and potential efficacy in specific breast cancer subgroups, an understanding requires addressing identified limitations and advancing research in nuanced directions. Abstract
BACKGROUND International Health Regulations (IHR) were developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) to curb the trans-border spread of epidemics. To our knowledge, no airport-based studies have assessed travelers' health practices against a combination of diseases subject to IHR 2005. Therefore, we aimed to generate and describe the baseline travelers' pre-travel health practices towards Cholera, Yellow Fever (YF), and Plague at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Nigeria. METHODS A cross-sectional study was employed to collect data from 486 international travelers using a multistage sampling technique. Pre-travel health practices (a combination of pre-travel consultation, pre-travel vaccination, and preventive measures against insect bites) were assessed using an interviewer-administered questionnaire. Logistic regression models were used to estimates the association between selected variables and pre-travel health practices. Statistical significance level was set at 5%. RESULTS A total of 479 complete questionnaires were analyzed. The median age of respondents was 34.0 years Interquartile range (IQR) = 28.0, 44.0). Of the total respondents, 311 (64.3%) were aware of pre-travel health consultation and sources of information, amongst others, including friends/relatives in 180 (37.6%) travelers, social media/internet in 155 (32.4%) travelers, and health professionals in 102 (21.3%) travelers. Two hundred and seventy-one (56.6%) had pre-travel consultation, 156 (32.6%) had YF vaccination, and 226 (47.2%) were prepared to use preventive measures against insect bites. Only 10.6% had good pre-travel practices against the diseases subject to 2 International Health Regulations (IHR). Travelers with bachelor/college degrees, when compared to those with secondary/high education, had 2.91 times higher odds of having good practices when adjusting for other factors (95% C.I: 1.10, 7.70; p < 0.03). Also, those traveling to destinations endemic for YF infection, when compared to those who are not traveling to endemic countries/areas, had 48% lower odds of having good practices after adjusting for other factors (95% C.I: 1.41, 7.77; p < 0.01). CONCLUSIONS Our study revealed a low prevalence of good pre-travel health practices among participants. Educational level and endemicity of YF at the destination were predictors of pre-travel health practices. Introducing topics on travelers' health into schools' curriculums may have a ripple positive effect on health practices among international travelers. Also, there is a need for public enlightenment programs on pre-travel health practices using social media platforms.

Abstract
Bariatric surgery has emerged as a highly effective option for individuals with obesity, offering significant and sustainable weight loss outcomes. This surgical approach involves various procedures that alter the anatomy of the gastrointestinal tract, leading to reduced food intake and nutrient absorption. Established procedures such as sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, adjustable gastric banding, and biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch have proven track records. In contrast, emerging options like intragastric balloons, AspireAssist devices, and endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty show promise but require further investigation. Numerous studies have highlighted the remarkable benefits of bariatric surgery, not only in weight loss but also in the resolution of obesity-related comorbidities and significant improvements in quality of life. However, successful outcomes rely on a multidisciplinary approach, encompassing preoperative evaluation, patient selection, comprehensive postoperative care, nutritional support, and psychological counseling. Regular follow-up and adherence to postsurgical recommendations are crucial for sustained weight loss and positive long-term results. As bariatric surgery continues to evolve, tailored procedures based on individual needs and ongoing research hold the potential for even more refined and effective approaches. Through this ongoing advancement, bariatric surgery is poised to offer improved patient outcomes, transforming lives for those grappling with the challenges of obesity.

Abstract
Recurrent Glioblastoma presents a formidable challenge in oncology due to its aggressive nature and limited treatment options. Tumour-Treating Fields (TTFields) Therapy, a novel therapeutic modality, has emerged as a promising approach to address this clinical conundrum. This review synthesizes the current evidence surrounding the efficacy of TTFields Therapy in the context of recurrent Glioblastoma. Diverse academic databases were explored to identify relevant studies published within the last decade. Strategic keyword selection facilitated the inclusion of studies focusing on TTFields Therapy's efficacy, treatment outcomes, and patient-specific factors. The review reveals a growing body of evidence suggesting the potential clinical benefits of TTFields Therapy for patients with recurrent Glioblastoma. Studies consistently demonstrate its positive impact on overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS). The therapy's safety profile remains favorable, with mild to moderate skin reactions being the most commonly reported adverse events. Our analysis highlights the importance of patient selection criteria, with emerging biomarkers such as PTEN mutation status influencing therapy response. Additionally, investigations into combining TTFields Therapy with other treatments, including surgical interventions and novel approaches, offer promising avenues for enhancing therapeutic outcomes. The synthesis of diverse studies underscores the potential of TTFields Therapy as a valuable addition to the armamentarium against recurrent Glioblastoma. The narrative review comprehensively explains the therapy's mechanisms, clinical benefits, adverse events, and future directions. The insights gathered herein serve as a foundation for clinicians and researchers striving to optimize treatment strategies for patients facing the challenging landscape of recurrent Glioblastoma.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Stroke rehabilitation presents a complex challenge, necessitating innovative approaches to optimise functional recovery. Virtual Reality-Based Rehabilitation (VRBR) has emerged as a promising intervention that capitalises on immersive technology to engage stroke survivors in their recovery journey. This review aims to examine the efficacy of VRBR in stroke rehabilitation, focusing on its advantages and challenges. METHODS A comprehensive search of relevant literature was conducted to gather evidence on the efficacy of VRBR in stroke survivors. Studies that investigated the impact of VRBR on patient engagement, functional recovery, and overall rehabilitation outcomes were included. The review also assessed the ability of VRBR to simulate real-life scenarios and facilitate essential daily activities for stroke survivors. RESULTS The review highlights that VRBR offers a unique immersive experience that enhances patient engagement and motivation during rehabilitation. The immersive nature of VRBR fosters a sense of presence, which can positively impact treatment adherence and outcomes. Moreover, VRBR's capacity to replicate real-world scenarios provides stroke survivors with opportunities to practice vital daily activities, promoting functional independence. In contrast, conventional rehabilitation methods lack the same level of engagement and real-world simulation. CONCLUSION VRBR holds promise as an efficacious intervention in stroke rehabilitation. Its immersive nature enhances patient engagement and motivation, potentially leading to better treatment adherence and outcomes. The ability of VRBR to simulate real-life scenarios offers a unique platform. However, challenges such as cost, equipment, patient suitability, data privacy, and acceptance must be addressed for successful integration into stroke rehabilitation practice.

Abstract
Stroke is a major health concern worldwide, and its impact is particularly pronounced across Africa. This paper delves into the challenges faced in African stroke care and explores the significant potential benefits of mobile stroke units (MSUs) in mitigating these issues. Key challenges include the limited healthcare infrastructure, funding constraints, difficulties reaching remote and rural areas, and shortages of qualified healthcare professionals, especially neurologists and stroke specialists. To address these challenges, recommendations are provided, emphasizing the importance of infrastructure development, sustainable funding mechanisms, solutions for rural accessibility, and healthcare workforce development through training programs and incentives. Additionally, the paper discusses prospects for MSUs in Africa, highlighting the potential for technology advancements to yield more cost-effective and compact MSU models. The integration of telemedicine capabilities within MSUs is examined to enhance communication with specialist physicians at remote hospitals, ultimately improving stroke care outcomes. Furthermore, data collection on MSU outcomes and their impact on stroke care is emphasized to inform evidence-based policies and enhance MSU operations. Collaboration and partnerships between governments, healthcare organizations, and international stakeholders are critical for facilitating MSU expansion. These partnerships can provide essential funding, expertise, and support for the implementation and sustainable operation of MSUs in Africa.

Abstract
Early detection of pancreatic cancer is crucial for improving patient outcomes, and identifying reliable biomarkers is a critical research area in this field. Galectin-3 (Gal-3) is a promising candidate for utilisation as a diagnostic biomarker in early-stage pancreatic cancer. This review aims to explore the potential of Gal-3 in pancreatic cancer diagnosis and its implications for precision medicine. Rigorous validation studies are essential to establish the clinical utility of Gal-3, including large-scale investigations to assess its sensitivity, specificity, and predictive value. Combining Gal-3 with existing biomarkers and advanced imaging techniques may enhance the accuracy of early detection. Moreover, Gal-3 holds promise for risk stratification, enabling the identification of high-risk individuals who could benefit from intensified surveillance and early interventions. However, challenges in standardised testing protocols, establishing reference ranges, assay reliability, workflow integration, cost-effectiveness, and healthcare provider education must be addressed for successful implementation. Despite these challenges, Gal-3 presents significant implications for precision medicine in pancreatic cancer management. By unravelling its potential and overcoming the hurdles, Gal-3 could revolutionise early detection, risk stratification, and personalised approaches in pancreatic cancer care. Collaborative efforts and continued research will be crucial in harnessing the full potential of Gal-3 as a diagnostic biomarker for early-stage pancreatic cancer.

Understanding how metabolic dysregulation contributes to the pathogenesis of these disorders remains a critical research gap. Therefore, this review aims to bridge that gap by examining the key metabolic pathways involved and their specific implications in immune cell function. Key metabolic pathways, including glycolysis, mitochondrial metabolism, fatty acid metabolism, and amino acid metabolism, are discussed in the context of immune cell function. Dysregulation of these pathways can disrupt immune cell activation, differentiation, and overall function, contributing to disease pathogenesis. Understanding these metabolic alterations' molecular mechanisms is essential for developing targeted therapeutic interventions. The review also emphasises the importance of personalised medicine in immune-related disorders. The unique metabolic profiles of individuals can influence treatment outcomes, highlighting the need for tailored approaches. Integrating metabolic profiling into clinical practice can enhance treatment efficacy and improve patient outcomes. Cognitive impairment in individuals with diabetes represents a multifaceted and increasingly prevalent health concern. This review critically examines the current evidence regarding the intricate relationship between diabetes and cognitive decline. It highlights the existing knowledge on the impact of diabetes on cognitive function, spanning from mild cognitive impairment to dementia, including vascular and Alzheimer dementia. The review underscores the need for a standardized diagnostic paradigm and explores research gaps, such as the implications of cognitive impairment in younger populations and various diabetes types. Furthermore, this review emphasizes the relevance of diabetes-related comorbidities, including hypertension and dyslipidemia, in influencing cognitive decline. It advocates for a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach, integrating insights from neuroscience, endocrinology, and immunology to elucidate the mechanistic underpinnings of diabetes-related cognitive impairment. The second part of this review outlines prospective research directions and opportunities. It advocates for longitudinal studies to understand disease progression better and identifies critical windows of vulnerability. The search for accurate biomarkers and predictive factors is paramount, encompassing genetic and epigenetic considerations. Abstract
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that presents distinct challenges for African children due to a complex interplay of social, economic and cultural factors. This review examines the various obstacles faced by children with ADHD in Africa, focusing on the lack of awareness and stigma surrounding the disorder, limited access to mental health services, educational system constraints, economic limitations and cultural beliefs and practices. The review underscores the significance of public awareness campaigns and educational initiatives to dispel myths and misconceptions surrounding ADHD. These efforts should target the general public, educators, healthcare professionals, religious leaders and traditional healers. Crucial to addressing this issue is strengthening mental health services, especially in rural and underserved areas, through increased funding and the availability of trained mental health professionals specialised in ADHD diagnosis and treatment. Integrating mental health services into primary healthcare systems is proposed to enhance accessibility for children with ADHD. By training primary care providers to recognise ADHD symptoms and provide initial support and referrals, early identification and intervention can be facilitated. Addressing the affordability and accessibility of ADHD treatment is a priority, with policy recommendations including subsidising medications and therapies and providing financial assistance to families in need. A call for collaborative efforts between governments, nongovernmental organisations and pharmaceutical companies is advocated to ensure that ADHD treatment is affordable and widely available.

This paper provides an overview of the current state of neuroscience research in Africa, highlighting the progress made, ongoing efforts, and the challenges researchers face. Despite limited resources and funding constraints, African scientists have made remarkable strides in various areas of neuroscience. Collaborative networks and international partnerships have been crucial in advancing education, research infrastructure, and capacity building in the field. Institutions in countries such as Egypt, Ghana, South Africa, Nigeria, Tunisia, and Morocco have emerged as key hubs for neuroscience research, fostering a growing community of researchers dedicated to unravelling the complexities of the brain. Efforts in neuroscience research have encompassed diverse domains, including neurogenomics, neuroimaging, neurophysiology, neurorehabilitation, and neuroepidemiology. Studies have focused on investigating genetic factors underlying neurological conditions, exploring the neural mechanisms of cognition and behaviour, and developing innovative therapeutic approaches for neurological disorders. However, challenges persist in the African neuroscience research landscape. Limited funding remains a significant barrier, hindering the establishment of well-equipped laboratories, access to advanced technologies, and support for research projects. Addressing these concerns is crucial to ensure research outcomes' integrity, validity, and relevance. Looking ahead, strategic interventions are required to address these challenges and further advance neuroscience research in Africa.

With the increasing demand for quality healthcare and the scarcity of resources, medical education in Africa faces numerous challenges. Traditional teaching methods often need help to adequately prepare medical students for the complex and diverse healthcare scenarios they will encounter in practice. 3D printing technology holds significant promise in addressing these challenges by providing innovative solutions for medical education. This review examines the various applications of 3D printing in medical education, focusing on its potential to enhance anatomy education, surgical training and medical device development. It explores how 3D printing can offer realistic and customisable anatomical models, enabling students to understand human anatomy better and improve their surgical skills through realistic simulations. Furthermore, this paper discusses the potential of 3D printing in developing low-cost medical devices, prosthetics and surgical instruments, which can significantly benefit resource-limited settings in Africa. It explores the concept of distributed manufacturing, where 3D printing can decentralise the production of essential medical equipment, reducing reliance on external suppliers and improving access to healthcare. The review also highlights the challenges and limitations associated with implementing 3D printing in medical education in Africa, such as limited infrastructure, high costs and the need for specialised training. However, it presents successful initiatives and collaborations that have overcome these obstacles, demonstrating the feasibility and potential impact of integrating 3D printing into medical education in Africa.

Amidst these challenges, the integration of drone technology emerges as a promising solution, offering unprecedented opportunities to overcome longstanding obstacles and improve healthcare accessibility across Africa. Drawing from existing drone-based healthcare initiatives in Africa, the article explores various applications of drones in healthcare delivery. These encompass but are not limited to, delivering vaccines, medications, blood samples, diagnostic tools and medical personnel to remote locations in a timely and cost-effective manner. Furthermore, the paper examines the operational challenges and regulatory considerations in deploying drone technology for healthcare and the ethical implications surrounding privacy and security.

Moreover, the regenerative capacity of RNA-based therapeutics for cardiac repair and the inherent advantages associated with noninvasive routes of administration are explored. Additionally, the studies accentuate the significance of diligent monitoring of disease progression and treatment response, ensuring safety and considering long-term outcomes. Abstract
This paper presents a narrative review of current knowledge on autism in Africa, including prevalence, diagnosis, treatment and the impact of social and cultural factors on families and caregivers. The prevalence of autism in Africa is estimated to be similar to that in other regions. However, diagnosis and treatment access remain limited due to various challenges, such as a shortage of specialised healthcare professionals and resources, a lack of awareness and understanding of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) among healthcare providers, and cultural stigma surrounding mental health and developmental disorders. Alternative therapies are commonly used with other therapies, but their effectiveness is often unproven. The impact of ASD on families and caregivers in Africa is significant, with many facing challenges in accessing support services and coping with stigma. Efforts are being made to increase awareness and reduce the stigma around ASD in African communities, but more research is needed on effective interventions and culturally appropriate treatments. Policy recommendations include increasing resources and training for healthcare professionals, improving access to evidence-based interventions and promoting community awareness and support. With improved understanding and investment, the quality of life of individuals with ASD in Africa can be significantly improved.
