Abstract
BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE Chronic HCV infection induces lasting effects on the immune system despite viral clearance. It is unclear whether certain immune alterations are associated with vaccine responses in cured HCV patients. APPROACH Thirteen cured HCV patients received the standard 3-dose hepatitis B vaccine and were followed up at the 0, 1st, 6th, and 7th months (M0, M1, M6, and M7) after the first dose of vaccination. Thirty-three-color and 26-color spectral flow cytometry panels were used for high-dimensional immunophenotyping of the T-cell and B-cell subsets, respectively. RESULTS Compared to the healthy controls (HC), 17 of 43 (39.5%) immune cell subsets showed abnormal frequencies in cured HCV patients. Patients with cured HCV were further divided into high responders (HR, n = 6) and nonresponders (NR1, n = 7) based on the levels of hepatitis B surface antibodies at M1. Alterations in cell populations were more significant in NR1. Moreover, we found that high levels of self-reactive immune signatures, including Tregs, TD/CD8, IgD-only memory B, and autoantibodies, were associated with suboptimal hepatitis B vaccine responses. CONCLUSIONS Our data suggest that cured HCV patients exhibit persistent perturbations in the adaptive immune system, among which highly self-reactive immune signatures may contribute to a suboptimal hepatitis B vaccine response.

Abstract
PURPOSE Stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) was widely used in brain metastases (BM), especially in oligometastases. It is imperative to develop a new prognostic score to predict the overall survival (OS) of brain metastases based on prognostic factors for specific primary tumors. MATERIAL AND METHOD One hundred and ninety-seven patients were involved in the training cohort to develop a new prognostic score to predict the overall survival (OS) of brain metastases for specific primary tumors. Independent prognostic factors were confirmed using a Cox regression model. The score was developed based on clinical prognostic factors of OS with Cox proportional hazards model. The result was validated in another cohort with 56 participants to evaluate the performance of the score. RESULTS One hundred and ninety-seven patients with 329 brain metastases received SRT. For NSCLC, the significant prognostic factors were extracranial metastases, target therapy and number of brain metastases. For gastrointestinal cancer, the significant prognostic factors were target therapy and number of brain metastases. CONCLUSION The prognostic factors scores were varied by the histologic types which can be used to efficiently stratify for selected patients with brain-metastasis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Myocardial infarction (MI) resulting from acute coronary ischemia may cause significant morbidity and mortality, and microRNAs play a vital role in this pathophysiology. Limonin (LIM) is a natural medicine from citrus fruit that protects organs against ischemic diseases, but the candidate genes and pathways associated with cardioprotection are unknown. METHODS MI was induced by ligating the left anterior descending coronary in male Sprague-Dawley rats. LIM was orally administered for 7 days after the induction of MI. Subsequently, the hearts were collected to examine significant changes in microRNAs and mRNAs among the control (CON), MI, and LIM + MI groups. Gene Ontology (GO) terms, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathways, and protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks were used to identify the biological functions and signaling pathways of differentially expressed mRNAs. Candidate genes were validated by RT-qPCR. RESULTS Compared to the CON group, MI caused significant changes in the expression of 26 microRNAs and 1979 mRNAs. The bioinformatics analysis showed that inflammation, apoptosis, and oxidation were enriched in GO terms, while RAP1, PI3K/AKT, RAS, and cGMP-PKG were enriched in KEGG pathways. In addition, compared to the MI group, LIM induced significant changes in the expression of 4 microRNAs and 173 mRNAs. The differentially expressed mRNAs were related to collagen biosynthesis, the immune response, extrinsic apoptosis, and tight junctions. One microRNA (rno-miR-10a-5p) and 2 mRNAs (IGLON5 and LMX1A) were differentially expressed among the CON, MI, and LIM + MI groups. CONCLUSIONS Our results suggest that the rno-miR-10a-5p-IGLON5/LMX1A axis may be a candidate pathway and promising target through which LIM alleviates MI-induced cardiac dysfunction.

Abstract
In this work, we present a brand-new narrowband red-emitting fluoroperovskite via the introduction of Mn4+ into NaZnF3 through a facile co-precipitation method at room temperature. The physicochemical properties of the fluoroperovskite such as crystal and electronic structures, morphology, and elemental composition, as well as its spectroscopic properties such as luminescence behaviours and optical performance were characterized and investigated in detail. Evidence shows that NaZnF3:Mn4+ exhibits a uniform particulate shape with single-phase crystallinity. By virtue of the non-equivalent substitution and the [MnF6] octahedral distortion in the fluoride host, sharp red emissions of phonon sidebands and the zero-phonon line upon blue light excitation are identified. Benefiting from the unique spectral feature, a wide colour gamut of 104.1% NTSC is achieved by coating β-SiAlON:Eu2+ and NaZnF3:Mn4+ on an InGaN chip, indicating the potential use of the Mn4+ fluoroperovskite as a colour converter for display backlight application.

Rapid Determination of Low Heavy Metal Concentrations in Grassland Soils around Mining Using Vis-NIR Spectroscopy: A Case Study of Inner Mongolia, China. SENSORS 2021; 21:s21093220. [PMID: 34066493 PMCID: PMC8124297 DOI: 10.3390/s21093220] [Citation(s) in RCA: 4] [Impact Index Per Article: 1.3] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Download PDF] [Figures] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 03/03/2021] [Revised: 04/29/2021] [Accepted: 04/30/2021] [Indexed: 12/07/2022]
Abstract
Proximal sensing offers a novel means for determination of the heavy metal concentration in soil, facilitating low cost and rapid analysis over large areas. In this respect, spectral data and model variables play an important role. Thus far, no attempts have been made to estimate soil heavy metal content using continuum-removal (CR), different preprocessing and statistical methods, and different modeling variables. Considering the adsorption and retention of heavy metals in spectrally active constituents in soil, this study proposes a method for determining low heavy metal concentrations in soil using spectral bands associated with soil organic matter (SOM) and visible–near-infrared (Vis–NIR). To rapidly determine the concentration of heavy metals using hyperspectral data, partial least squares regression (PLSR), principal component regression (PCR), and support vector machine regression (SVMR) statistical methods and 16 preprocessing combinations were developed and explored to determine an optimal combination. The results showed that the multiplicative scatter correction and standard normal variate preprocessing methods evaluated with the second derivative spectral transformation method could accurately determine soil Cr and Ni concentrations. The root-mean-square error (RMSE) values of Vis–NIR model combinations with PLSR, PCR, and SVMR were 0.34, 3.42, and 2.15 for Cr, and 0.07, 1.78, and 1.14 for Ni, respectively. Soil Cr and Ni showed strong spectral responses to the Vis–NIR spectral band. The R2 value of the Vis–NIR-based PLSR model was higher than 0.99, and the RMSE value was 0.07–0.34, suggesting higher stability and accuracy. The results were more accurate for Ni than Cr, and PLSR showed the best performance, followed by SVMR and PCR. This perspective has critical implications for guiding quantitative biogeochemical analysis using proximal sensing data.

Abstract
In order to further develop efficient ultraviolet light-driven photocatalysts for environmental application, α-zirconium phosphate (α-ZrP) and carbon nitride (C3N4) were synthesized, respectively. Then, C3N4-ZrP compositing nanomaterials were prepared by compositing α-ZrP nanocrystals and C3N4 with different mass ratios. C3N4-ZrP compositing nanomaterials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results illustrated that α-ZrP and C3N4 were successfully composited, and the polarization of the compositing nanomaterials was reduced compared with raw materials. The photocatalytic performances of C3N4-ZrP compositing nanomaterials with different mass ratios were studied by photodegradation of RhB under ultraviolet irradiation. All of the degradation rates of the C3N4-ZrP compositing nanomaterials system were achieved more than 90% after 18 min. When the mass ratio of C3N4-ZrP compositing nanomaterials is 2:1, the degradation efficiency achieved 99.95%, which is more efficient than other tested mass ratios. The result indicated the possibility of utilizing C3N4-ZrP compositing nanomaterials for environmental pollutants degradation.

Abstract
Oral squamous cell carcinoma is one of the most common high malignant tumors. This experiment aimed to investigate whether ethyl acetate extract of peony (Paeonia suffruticosa) seed coat could affect the proliferation and apoptosis of oral squamous carcinoma cells by regulating the miR-424-3p/STAT3/Survivin pathway. For this purpose, oral squamous cell carcinoma cell CAL27 was cultured in vitro, and cells were treated with ethyl acetate extract of peony seed coat at different concentrations. MTT was used to detect cell proliferation. Flow cytometry was used to detect apoptosis. qRT-PCR was used to detect the expression level of miR-424-3p. The miR-424-3p mimics and anti-miR-424-3p were transfected into CAL27 cells respectively, and the cell proliferation and apoptosis were detected by the above method. Western blot method was used to detect the expression of PCNA, Bcl-2, Bax, p-STAT3 and Survivin protein. Results showed that ethyl acetate extract of peony seed coat could reduce cell proliferation rate and the protein levels of PCNA, Bcl-2, p-STAT3, Survivin and the expression level of miR-424-3p (P<0.05), increase apoptosis rate and the protein level of Bax (P<0.05). After transfection with anti-miR-424-3p, the cell proliferation rate, the protein levels of PCNA and Bcl-2 were significantly reduced (P<0.05), the apoptosis rate and the protein level of Bax were significantly increased (P<0.05), while the effect of miR-424-3p mimics was the opposite. Transfection of miR-424-3p mimics could significantly reduce the regulatory effect of ethyl acetate extract of peony seed coat on CAL27 cell proliferation, apoptosis and STAT3/Survivin pathway. It concluded that ethyl acetate extract of peony seed coat could inhibit the activation of the STAT3/Survivin signaling pathway by down-regulating the expression of miR-424-3p, thereby inhibiting the proliferation of oral squamous carcinoma cells and inducing apoptosis.

Abstract
The rise of global value chains (GCVs) has seen the transfer of carbon emissions embodied in every step of international trade. Building a coordinated, inclusive and green GCV can be an effective and efficient way to achieve carbon emissions mitigation targets for countries that participate highly in GCVs. In this paper, we first describe the energy consumption as well as the territorial and consumption-based carbon emissions of Belarus and its regions from 2010 to 2017. The results show that Belarus has a relatively clean energy structure with 75% of Belarus' energy consumption coming from imported natural gas. The 'chemical, rubber and plastic products' sector has expanded significantly over the past few years; its territorial-based emissions increased 10-fold from 2011 to 2014, with the 'food processing' sector displaying the largest increase in consumption-based emissions. An analysis of regional emissions accounts shows that there is significant regional heterogeneity in Belarus with Mogilev, Gomel and Vitebsk having more energy-intensive manufacturing industries. We then analysed the changes in Belarus' international trade as well as its emission impacts. The results show that Belarus has changed from a net carbon exporter in 2011 to a net carbon importer in 2014. Countries along the Belt and Road Initiative, such as Russia, China, Ukraine, Poland and Kazakhstan, are the main trading partners and carbon emission importers/exporters for Belarus. 'Construction' and 'chemical, rubber and plastic products' are two major emission-importing sectors in Belarus, while 'electricity' and 'ferrous metals' are the primary emission-exporting sectors. Possible low-carbon development pathways are discussed for Belarus through the perspectives of global supply and the value chain.

Experimental Investigation of Hydrophobically Modified α-ZrP Nanosheets for Enhancing Oil Recovery in Low-Permeability Sandstone Cores. ACS OMEGA 2019; 4:22178-22186. Abstract
Highly crystalline α-zirconium phosphate (α-ZrP) nanoparticles were synthesized and exfoliated into nanosheets, and then the hydrophilic nanosheets were modified into hydrophobic nanosheets with octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS). Scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and thermogravimetric analysis were applied to confirm the morphology and chemical structure of the nanosheets. Contact angle measurement was conducted to explore the wettability alteration of the hydrophobically modified α-ZrP nanosheets, and the result showed that the wettability of the core was changed into hydrophobicity. When ZrP-OTS nanosheets were injected during water-flooding, a Pickering emulsion will be formed. The droplet diameters and viscosities of the Pickering emulsions were measured. The hydrophobically modified α-ZrP nanosheets were applied in low-permeability sandstone cores and various concentrations were tested. The injectivity of the hydrophobically modified α-ZrP nanosheets was also studied and the result indicated that the nanosheets exhibit good injectivity. The mechanisms for enhancing oil recovery by utilizing hydrophobic α-ZrP nanosheets were analyzed: forming Pickering emulsions and increasing the viscosity of the displacing phase. Forming emulsions and increasing the viscosity of the flooding phase can enhance the microdisplacement efficiency, while good injectivity can also enhance the macrodisplacement efficiency. The result indicated the possibility of using hydrophobically modified α-ZrP nanosheets for enhancing oil recovery in a low-permeability reservoir.

Abstract
In this report, we collected the Raman spectrum of cervical adenocarcinoma and cervical squamous cell carcinoma tissues by a micro-Raman spectroscopy system. We analysed, compared and summarized the characteristics and differences of the normalized mean Raman spectra of the two tissues and pointed out the major differences in the biochemical composition between the two tissues. The PCA-SVM model that was used to distinguish the two types of cervical cancer tissues was established. The accuracy of the model in differentiating cervical adenocarcinoma from cervical squamous cell carcinoma was 93.125%. The results of this study indicate that Raman spectroscopy of cervical adenocarcinoma and cervical squamous cell carcinoma tissue in combination with SVM (support vector analysis) and PCA (principal component analysis) can be useful for the classification of cervical adenocarcinoma and cervical squamous cell carcinoma tissues and for the exploration of the differences in biochemical compositions between the two types of cervical tissue. This study lays a foundation to further study Raman spectroscopy as a clinical diagnostic method for cervical cancer.

Abstract
Interferon-tau (IFNT), a type I interferon, is an antiluteolytic factor secreted by trophoderm during pregnancy. IFNT transmitted signals or stimulated the expression of some factors to build maternal recognition and keep pregnancy by binding its receptors, IFNT receptor 1(IFNAR1) and IFNT receptor 2 (IFNAR2). Up to now, the expression model and roles of IFNAR1 and IFNAR2 in placenta have not been investigated in cattle. In this study, the localization and expression of IFNAR1 and IFNAR2 in the cattle placenta at days 18-50 of pregnancy were detected by histological examination, immunofluorescence staining and real-time qPCR. The results showed that IFNAR1 mainly distributed in chorioallantoic membrane, endometrial epithelium, cotyledon and caruncle during the early pregnancy of cattle with change in time- and position-dependent. IFNAR1 and IFNAR2 mRNA expression were mainly detected in chorioallantoic membrane and cotyledon, and markedly increased along with pregnancy process. Moreover, the mRNA expression level of IFNAR1 in chorioallantoic membrane and cotyledon was higher than that of IFNAR2. IFNAR mRNA was also expressed in caruncle tissues, which experienced a tendency of decrease from days 21 to 36, followed by increase after days 36. These results provide morphological basis and quantitative data for investigating the roles of IFNAR1 and IFNAR2 on development of cattle placenta and pregnancy maintenance.

Abstract
It is known that high-risk human papillomavirus infection is the main etiological factor in cervical carcinogenesis. However, human papillomavirus screening is not sufficient for early diagnosis. In this study, we aimed to identify potential biomarkers common to cervical carcinoma and human papillomavirus infection by proteomics for human papillomavirus-based early diagnosis and prognosis. To this end, we collected 76 cases of fresh cervical tissues and 116 cases of paraffin-embedded tissue slices, diagnosed as cervical squamous cell carcinoma, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia II-III, or normal cervix from ethnic Uighur and Han women. Human papillomavirus infection by eight oncogenic human papillomavirus types was detected in tissue DNA samples using a quantitative polymerase chain reaction. The protein profile of cervical specimens from human papillomavirus 16-positive squamous cell carcinoma and human papillomavirus-negative normal controls was analyzed by proteomics and bioinformatics. The expression of candidate proteins was further determined by quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemistry. We identified 67 proteins that were differentially expressed in human papillomavirus 16-positive squamous cell carcinoma compared to normal cervix. The quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction analysis verified the upregulation of ASAH1, PCBP2, DDX5, MCM5, TAGLN2, hnRNPA1, ENO1, TYPH, CYC, and MCM4 in squamous cell carcinoma compared to normal cervix ( p < 0.05). In addition, the transcription of PCBP2, MCM5, hnRNPA1, TYPH, and CYC was also significantly increased in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia II-III compared to normal cervix. Immunohistochemistry staining further confirmed the overexpression of PCBP2, hnRNPA1, ASAH1, and DDX5 in squamous cell carcinoma and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia II-III compared to normal controls ( p < 0.05). Our data suggest that the expression of ASAH1, PCBP2, DDX5, and hnRNPA1, and possibly MCM4, MCM5, CYC, ENO1, and TYPH, is upregulated during cervical carcinogenesis and potentially associated with human papillomavirus infection. Further validation studies of the profile will contribute to establishing auxiliary diagnostic markers for human papillomavirus-based cancer prognosis.

[PMID: 27569862 DOI: 10.1002/cbf.3210] [Citation(s) in RCA: 6] [Impact Index Per Article: 0.8] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 04/08/2016] [Revised: 06/17/2016] [Accepted: 07/12/2016] [Indexed: 02/06/2023]
Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the differentiation potential of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) derived from human foreskin fibroblasts (HFFs) into hepatocyte-like cells (HLCs). The iPSCs were firstly induced by transduction of OCT4, SOX2, KLF4, and c-MYC into HFFs using retrovirus. Afterwards, expressions of pluripotency factors were identified by semiquantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and immunofluorescence staining, and karyotype, embryoid, and teratoma were observed by microscope. Then, iPSCs were gradually differentiated into endoderm cells, hepatic progenitor cells, and mature HLCs by special culture medium. During this process, differentiation efficiency into each kind of cells was evaluated by detecting SOX17, HNF4a, and ALB using flow cytometry, respectively. Besides, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was conducted to detect the secretion of ALB in iPSC-induced HLCs and quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction was performed to detect the expression levels of hepatocyte-specific genes. The iPSCs were successfully induced by HFFs, which exhibited typical embryonic stem cells morphology, positive alkaline phosphatase staining, normal diploid karyotype, and positive expression of various pluripotency factors. Meanwhile, spherical embryoid and teratoma with 3 germ layers were formed by iPSCs. The iPSCs were consecutively induced into endoderm cells, hepatic progenitor cells and mature HLCs, and the differentiation efficiency was 55.7 ± 2.9%, 45.7 ± 4.8%, and 35.0 ± 3.9%, respectively. Besides, the secretion of ALB and expression of various hepatocyte-specific genes was highly detected in iPSC-induced HLCs. The iPSCs were successfully derived from HFFs and then differentiated into HLCs, which proved a new source for hepatocyte transplantation. HIGHLIGHTS HFFs were successfully induced into iPSCs by transduction of OCT4, SOX2, KLF4, and c-MYC. Positive expressions of various pluripotency factors were exhibited in HFFs-induced iPSCs. The iPSCs were consecutively induced into endoderm cells, hepatic progenitor cells, and mature HLCs. Various hepatocyte-specific genes were highly expressed in iPSC-induced HLCs.

Abstract
BACKGROUND We aimed to evaluate the combination therapy of Chinese herbs plus interferon and ribavirin in treatment of patients with chronic hepatitis C (CHC). MATERIAL AND METHODS Related databases were searched to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that evaluated biochemical response, virological response, histological response, and/or adverse reactions to combination therapy of interferon and ribavirin with and without Chinese herbs. The RR (relative risk) with a 95% confidence interval (CI) was calculated. Sensitivity analysis was conducted by omitting one study at a time. Publication bias among the eligible studies was evaluated by Egger's test. RESULTS A total of 17 RCTs matched the selection criteria. Overall, combination therapies of Chinese herbs plus interferon and ribavirin achieved significantly higher ALT (alanine transaminase) and ETVR (the end-of-treatment viral response), and significantly lower levels of HA (hyaluronic acid), LN (laminin), PC III (procollagen iii peptide), IV-C (type IV collagen), decreased LC (decreasing leukocyte count), ATF (abnormal thyroid function), psychosis, and anemia in CHC patients compared with those treated without Chinese herbs. Sensitivity analysis showed no changes and no potential publication bias was found. CONCLUSIONS The current evidence suggests that combination therapy of Chinese herb plus interferon and ribavirin yields better outcome and fewer adverse events in CHC patients than that of interferon plus ribavirin therapy.

Abstract
Plasmonic nanoparticles are an attractive material for light harvesting applications due to their easily modified surface, high surface area and large extinction coefficients which can be tuned across the visible spectrum. Research into the plasmonic enhancement of optical transitions has become popular, due to the possibility of altering and in some cases improving photo-absorption or emission properties of nearby chromophores such as molecular dyes or quantum dots. The electric field of the plasmon can couple with the excitation dipole of a chromophore, perturbing the electronic states involved in the transition and leading to increased absorption and emission rates. These enhancements can also be negated at close distances by energy transfer mechanism, making the spatial arrangement of the two species critical. Ultimately, enhancement of light harvesting efficiency in plasmonic solar cells could lead to thinner and, therefore, lower cost devices. The development of hybrid core/shell particles could offer a solution to this issue. The addition of a dielectric spacer between a gold nanoparticles and a chromophore is the proposed method to control the exciton plasmon coupling strength and thereby balance losses with the plasmonic gains. A detailed procedure for the coating of gold nanoparticles with CdS and ZnS semiconductor shells is presented. The nanoparticles show high uniformity with size control in both the core gold particles and shell species allowing for a more accurate investigation into the plasmonic enhancement of external chromophores.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To study the expression level and clinical significance of miR-181c-3p and miR-5692b in esophageal cancer. METHODS The microRNA (miRNA) profiles of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma were analyzed by miRNA microarray in 55 cases of esophageal cancer. The expression levels of miR-181c-3p and miR-5692b from 55 pairs of tumor tissues and adjacent non-neoplastic tissues were determined by qRT-PCR analysis. RESULTS Both miR-181c-3p and miR-5692b were significantly up-regulated in tumor tissues compared with adjacent non-neoplastic tissues. Their expression was also significantly associated with tumor size, depth of invasion and clinical tumor stage (P<0.05). High expression of miR-181c-3p and miR-5692b were significantly associated with poor prognosis (P<0.05). Multivariate Cox regression analysis confirmed that high expression of miR-181c-3p and miR-5692b was poor prognostic indicators in esophageal cancer. CONCLUSIONS There are significant correlation between miR-181c-3p/miR-5692b expression, clinicopathologic parameters and prognosis. They represent potential prognostic biomarkers in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Adenoid cystic primary pulmonary carcinomas (adenoid cystic carcinomas or ACCs) are rare tumors, so we described the clinical and pathological features of these tumors and related these findings with diagnosis and prognosis of ACC, comparing our data to the existing literature. METHODS Clinical and pathological features of 12 ACC cases were observed and described. Immunohistochemical EnVision staining, fluorescent PCR detection, and FISH were used to characterize tumor samples and the literature was reviewed. RESULTS Of the 12 ACC cases (7 male; average 53.1 years-of-age; range 33-78 years), the chief presentation symptom was cough, followed by expectoration, gasping, and bloody sputum. Microscopically, histopathology revealed cribriform, tubular, or solid cords. CD117 was overexpressed in glandular epithelia in 9 cases and calcitonin and thyroid transcription factor-1 (TTF-1) were overexpressed in 4 cases. One case was positive for EML4 ALK gene rearrangement. CONCLUSION ACC is a low-grade malignant tumor with poor prognosis and high recurrence and metastases. TTF-1 expression indicates a primary tumor and CD117 expression is not significant to prognosis.

Abstract
Single scattering properties for spherical and hexagonal ice crystal models with different size parameters and wavelengths were employed to calculate satellite observed radiation and downward flux in ground surface using RSTAR radiative transfer model. Results indicated that simulated satellite observed radiation and ground surface downward radiant flux from different shapes of ice crystal models were different. The difference in the spectral radiation fluxes between 0. 4 and 1. 0 µm was largest, and particle shapes affected the downward radiant flux significantly. It was verified that the proper selection of the effective ice crystal model is not only important for retrieval of the microphysical and optical parameters of the cirrus cloud, but also important for obtaining the radiant flux on the earth's surface correctly. These results are important for retrieving cloud microphysical parameters and simulation of the ground surface downward radiant flux.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To study chromosome 1p/19q loss of heterozygosity (LOH) and Sox17 protein expression in oligodendrogliomas and correlate this loss with clinicopathological features. METHODS This study included 100 cases of oligodendrogliomas at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from 2003 to 2014. The cases included paraffin-embedded tissues from 50 low-grade oligodendrogliomas and 50 anaplastic oligodendrogliomas. Chromosome 1p/19q LOH was detected by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and Sox17 protein expression was analyzed by immunohistochemistry. Clinicopathological characteristics of the oligodendrogliomas were compared and prognosis analyzed using Cox regression and Kaplan-Meier analyses. RESULTS The LOH positivity rate of 1p/19q was 52% in 50 cases of low-grade oligodendrogliomas and 68% in 50 cases of anaplastic oligodendrogliomas (P = 0.102). The rates of Sox17 expression were significantly different in oligodendrogliomas (82%) and anaplastic oligodendrogliomas (62%, P = 0.026). Single factor analysis determined that 1p/19q LOH (P = 0.000), Sox17 protein expression (P = 0.000), location (P = 0.001), chemotherapy (P = 0.000), and radiation therapy (P = 0.001) were associated with oligodendroglioma patient prognosis. Cox multiple factors regression analysis determined that 1p/19q LOH and Sox17 expression were independent prognostic factors of oligodendrogliomas. CONCLUSION In this study, oligodendroglioma patients with 1p/19q LOH and Sox17 protein expression had a better prognosis. Thus, analysis of 1p/19q LOH and Sox17 protein expression could significantly enhance diagnostic accuracy, guide treatment, and improve the prognosis.

Abstract
The objective of the present study was to evaluate different stage fluid and standard drug treatment strategies in 47 heatstroke patients. 47 adults with Heatstroke received fluid resuscitation treatment guided by transpulmonary thermodilution (PiCCO) in our intensive care unit. Systemic hemodynamics, microvascular indices and measures of acidosis, renal function, and pulmonary edema were followed prospectively. The speed of recovery and the component change was compared during the 6 h, 48 h and 96 h after the 3 stage fluid therapy. All patients were hyperpyrexia (core temperature>41°C), and on ventilation when enrolled in the ICU. Patients received a 6.17 (±1.8) ml/kg/h of crystal fluid and 3.31 (±0.5) ml/kg/h of colloidal fluid in the first 6 h; (3.41±1.2) ml/kg/h crystal fluid along with 2.27 (±0.3) ml/kg/h colloidal fluid in the first 48 h; 2.27 (±0.6) ml/kg/h crystal fluid along with 2.06 (±0.3) ml/kg/h colloidal fluid in the next 48 h. With resuscitation, acid-base status deteriorated in 25 of 47 patients (53.1%), extravascular lung water increased in 36 of 47 resuscitated patients (77%); 21 of these patients developed pulmonary edema though guided by transpulmonary thermodilution, 30 (63.8%) patients survived. All patients with pulmonary edema during the study were hypovolemic or euvolemic at the time pulmonary edema developed. Plasma lactate was lower in hypovolemic patients before (p<0.05) and after (p<0.05) resuscitation. Acute kidney injury was evident in 21 of 47 patients (47%) 48 h after enrollment. In conclusion, our study revealed that fluid resuscitation post heatstroke should be adjusted according to different stages.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIMS Liver cirrhosis is the end-stage of various liver diseases, which has a poor prognosis and determined by deterioration of hepatic functional capacity and consecutive development of hepatic complications. We investigated the role of IL-10-592 A/C, IL-10-819 C/T and IL-10-1082 A/G gene polymorphisms on the development of liver cirrhosis. METHODOLOGY A 1:2 matched case-control study was conducted, including 266 patients from 302 Military Hospital. Genotyping of IL-10-592 A/C, IL-10-819 C/T and IL-10-1082 A/G were performed in a 384-well plate format on the Sequenom MassARRAY platform. RESULTS Multivariate regression analyses showed that subjects carrying the IL-10-592 CC variant had a significant increased risk of liver cirrhosis (OR: 1.83, 95% Cl: 1.10-3.03), and IL-0-592 A/C showed a significant increased risk in recessive model (OR: 1.97, 95% CI: 1.15-3.45). We found those carrying IL-10-592 CC genotype had a heavy increased risk of liver cirrhosis in those with positive chronic hepatitis B, with an OR (95% CI) of 2.46 (1.35-4.42), and a significant interaction was observed between the IL-10-592 A/C genotype and chronic hepatitis B infection (P = 0.036). Those carrying IL-10-819 C/T and IL-10-1082 A/G variants had non-significant increased risk of liver cirrhosis. CONCLUSIONS Our study demonstrates that IL-10-592A/C gene polymorphism would enhance the risk for liver cirrhosis, and this gene variant has interaction with chronic hepatitis B infection in Asian population.

Abstract
Inherent optical properties are important marine optical parameters which are the basic input parameters of the radiative transfer model. Based on hyperspectral remote sensing reflectance and total absorption coefficient data measured in 2005 in the Bohai Sea, the nonlinear minimization model was firstly used to retrieve the inherent optical properties. The model was validated by in situ data. The averaged percent errors were 33.8%, 20.4%, 27.7%, 37.5%, 9.5% and 10.8% for the total absorption coefficients at 412, 440, 510, 555, 650 and 676 nm bands respectively. The main error sources of model were the uncertainty of the model parameters and measurement errors. According to the discussion, the spectral slope S has a slight influence on the retrieval of total absorption coefficients. However, the impact of the spectral power Y on the retrieval cannot be negligible. The model is suitable for hyperspectral data and can fulfill the gaps of inherent optical properties retrieval research in the Bohai Sea, so it can be used for hyperspectral remote sensing data to retrieve inherent optical properties.

Abstract
For training algorithms of recurrent neural networks (RNN), convergent speed and training error are always two contradictory performances. In this letter, we propose a normalized adaptive recurrent learning (NARL) to obtain a tradeoff between transient and steady-state response. An augmented term is added to error gradient to exactly model the derivative of cost function with respect to hidden layer weight. The influence of the induced gain of activation function on training stability is also taken into consideration. Moreover, adaptive learning rate is employed to improve the robustness of the gradient training. Finally, computer simulations of a model prediction problem are synthesized to give comparisons between NARL and conventional normalized real-time recurrent learning (N-RTRL).

Abstract
The existing algorithms for displaying the cutting isosurface of the structure are not suitable for interactive display because they spend too much time on calculation when a fair amount of data is submitted to processing. This paper presents a new algorithm for accelerating the cutting of structure by using the area partition and the increment calculation to reduce the unnecessary calculation in cutting the structure. It is suitable for real time interactive displaying, especially in the case of a vast amount of data.

Abstract
Stack gas emissions were characterized for a steam-generating boiler commonly used in China. The boiler was tested when fired with a newly formulated boiler briquette coal (BB-coal) and when fired with conventional raw coal (R-coal). The stack gas emissions were analyzed to determine emission rates and emission factors and to develop chemical source profiles. A dilution source sampling system was used to collect PM on both Teflon membrane filters and quartz fiber filters. The Teflon filters were analyzed gravimetrically for PM10 and PM2.5 mass concentrations and by X-ray fluorescence (XRF) for trace elements. The quartz fiber filters were analyzed for organic carbon (OC) and elemental carbon (EC) using a thermal/optical reflectance technique. Sulfur dioxide was measured using the standard wet chemistry method. Carbon monoxide was measured using an Orsat combustion analyzer. The emission rates of the R-coal combustion (in kg/hr), determined using the measured stack gas concentrations and the stack gas emission rates, were 0.74 for PM10, 0.38 for PM2.5, 20.7 for SO2, and 6.8 for CO, while those of the BB-coal combustion were 0.95 for PM10, 0.30 for PM2.5, 7.5 for SO2, and 5.3 for CO. The fuel-mass-based emission factors (in g/kg) of the R-coal, determined using the emission rates and the fuel burn rates, were 1.68 for PM10, 0.87 for PM2.5, 46.7 for SO2, and 15 for CO, while those of the BB-coal were 2.51 for PM10, 0.79 for PM2.5, 19.9 for SO2, and 14 for CO. The task-based emission factors (in g/ton steam generated) of the R-coal, determined using the fuel-mass-based emission factors and the coal/steam conversion factors, were 0.23 for PM10, 0.12 for PM2.5, 6.4 for SO2, and 2.0 for CO, while those of the BB-coal were 0.30 for PM10, 0.094 for PM2.5, 2.4 for SO2, and 1.7 for CO. PM10 and PM2.5 elemental compositions are also presented for both types of coal tested in the study.

Abstract
In this comparative study, the authors investigated the chromosome aberrations and expression of fragile sites in the lymphocytes which were collected from 45 elderly people and 29 young people and were cultured with FUDR for 24 hours. The results showed that the aberration rate was 24.75% for elderly people, but 4.22% for young people (P < 0.01): that the expression of fragile sites was 45.94% for elderly peoples, but 23.02% for young people (P < 0.01): and that the relation of aberrations with fragile sites was 79.98% for elderly people, and 92% for young people. These findings suggest that chromosome aberration is in close association with fragile site.

Abstract
In 1987 an epidemic of diarrhea associated with adult diarrhea rotavirus (ADRV) occurred in Qinhuangdao City, China, affecting more than 200 persons and causing 2 deaths. The outbreak was introduced by a person returning from an epidemic area and was spread initially to his family members and subsequently to the entire community. Adults were at greater risk of diarrhea than children 0-4 y of age and, the duration of illness increased significantly with increasing age. ADRV was identified by ELISA and electron microscopy. The electropherotypes of all positive specimens were identical, consistent with the single point-source introduction of the virus. Seroconversion was detected in 6 of 7 ill persons with a blocking ELISA. Both asymptomatic infection and person-to-person spread identified in this epidemic suggest that current emphasis on preventing waterborne transmission may not control the introduction of ADRV into new areas. The predisposition of adults for more severe disease with ADRV is similar to the pattern observed with other enteric viruses such as the Norwalk agent and hepatitis A.
