Abstract
Objective: To assess the compliance with a lung protective ventilation strategy and to evaluate the relationship with prognosis in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Methods: In the prospective multicenter cohort study (CHARDS), patients with ARDS undergoing invasive mechanical ventilation were enrolled to collect essential information, mechanical ventilation data, and prognostic data. Compliance was operationally defined as tidal volume ≤7 ml/kg predicted body weight (PBW) or plateau pressure ≤30 cmH2O or driving pressure≤15 cmH2O. Tidal volume data collected 7 days prior to ventilation after ARDS diagnosis were categorized into four groups: standard group (Group A, 100% compliance), non-standard group (Group B, 50%-99% compliance, Group C,1%-49% compliance, and Group D,totally non-compliant). Plateau pressure and drive pressure measurements were recorded on the first day. Stepwise regression, specifically Logistics regression, was used to identify the factors influencing ICU survival. Results: A total of 449 ARDS patients with invasive mechanical ventilation were included; the proportion of mild, moderate, and severe patients was 71 (15.8%), 198 (44.1%) and 180 (40.1%), respectively. During the first 7 days, a total of 2880 tidal volume measurements were recorded with an average tidal volume of (6.89±1.93) ml/kg PBW. Of these measurements, 53.2% were found to be≤7 ml/kg PBW. The rates of compliance with lung protective mechanical ventilation were 29.8% (134/449), 24.5% (110/449), 23.6% (106/449), and 22% (99/449) in groups A, B, C, and D, respectively. In the standard group, the tidal volume for mild ARDS patients was 18.3%(13/71), while it was 81.7%(58/71)in the non-standard group. Similarly, in patients with moderate ARDS, the tidal volume was 25.8% (51/198) in the standard group, while it was 74.2% (147/198) in the non-standard group. Finally, in patients with severe ARDS, the tidal volume was 38.9% (70/180) in the standard group, while it was 61.1% (110/180) in the non-standard group. Notably, the compliance rate was higher in patients with moderate and severe ARDS in group A compared to patients with mild and moderate ARDS (18.3% vs. 25.8% vs. 38.9%, χ2=13.124, P=0.001). Plateau pressure was recorded in 221 patients, 95.9% (212/221) patients with plateau pressure≤30 cmH2O, and driving pressure was recorded in 207 patients, 77.8% (161/207) patients with a driving pressure ≤15 cmH2O.During the first 7 days, the mortality rate in the intensive care unit (ICU) was lower in the tidal volume standard group compared to the non-standard group (34.6% vs. 51.3%, χ2=10.464, P=0.001). In addition, the in-hospital mortality rate was lower in the standard group compared to the non-standard group (39.8% vs. 57%, χ2=11.016, P=0.001).The results of the subgroup analysis showed that the mortality rates of moderate and severe ARDS patients in the standard group were significantly lower than those in the non-standard group, both in the ICU and in the hospital (all P<0.05). However, there was no statistically significant difference in mortality among mild ARDS patients (all P>0.05). Conclusions: There was high compliance with recommended lung protective mechanical ventilation strategies in ARDS patients, with slightly lower compliance in patients with mild ARDS, and high compliance rates for plateau and drive pressures. The tidal volume full compliance group had a lower mortality than the non-compliance group, and showed a similar trend in the moderate-to-severe ARDS subgroup, but there was no significant correlation between compliance and prognosis in patients with mild ARDS subgroup.

Abstract
The first measurement of the cross section for incoherent photonuclear production of J/ψ vector mesons as a function of the Mandelstam |t| variable is presented. The measurement was carried out with the ALICE detector at midrapidity, |y|<0.8, using ultraperipheral collisions of Pb nuclei at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV. This rapidity interval corresponds to a Bjorken-x range (0.3-1.4)×10^{-3}. Cross sections are given in five |t| intervals in the range 0.04<|t|<1 GeV^{2} and compared to the predictions by different models. Models that ignore quantum fluctuations of the gluon density in the colliding hadron predict a |t| dependence of the cross section much steeper than in data. The inclusion of such fluctuations in the same models provides a better description of the data.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Botulinum toxin A has been shown to be effective in managing depression. This study aimed to evaluate the antidepressant and antianxiety effects of two different doses of botulinum toxin A in patients with mild to moderate depression. METHODS A total of 140 patients diagnosed with mild to moderate depression at the Department of Neurology of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University from September 2020 to September 2021 were enrolled for the study. The patients were allocated into two groups and treated with two different doses of botulinum toxin A (50 units or 100 units). Depression scores (HAMD, HAMA, SDS, and SAS) were evaluated at baseline and 1, 2, 4, 8, and 12 weeks after treatment. RESULTS There was a significant improvement in the depressive and anxiety symptoms following treatment with the botulinum toxin A after 12 weeks compared to the baseline. However, there were no significant differences between the two groups. Further, the factor scores of anxiety/somatization, blocking, sleep disorder, and cognitive disorder were significantly decreased after 12 weeks of treatment with 50 units of botulinum toxin A compared to the baseline (P < 0.05). Further, the factor scores of somatic and mental anxiety were significantly decreased at different time points after treatment with 50 units of botulinum toxin A compared to the baseline (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Local injections of 50 units and 100 units of botulinum toxin A shows equal efficacy. Therefore, 50 units of botulinum toxin A could be used clinically to manage mild to moderate depression.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To understand the current status of capacity building in schistosomiasis control institutes in schistosomiasis-endemic provinces (municipality, autonomous region) of China. METHODS The responsibilities and construction requirements of various schistosomiasis control institutions were surveyed by expert discussions, and field interviews and visits during the period between May and June, 2023, and the questionnaire for capacity maintenance and consolidation in schistosomiasis control institutions was designed. An online questionnaire survey was conducted in county-, municipal-, and provincial-level institutions that undertook schistosomiasis control and surveillance activities through the Wenjuanxing program. The distribution of schistosomiasis control institutions, the status of institutions, departments and staff undertaking schistosomiasis control activities and the translation of scientific researches on schistosomiasis control in China were analyzed. The laboratories accredited by China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) were considered to be capable for testing associated with schistosomiasis control, and the testing capability of schistosomiasis control institutions was analyzed. RESULTS A total of 486 valid questionnaires were recovered from 486 schistosomiasis control institutions in 12 endemic provinces (municipality, autonomous region) of China, including 12 provincial-level institutions (2.5%), 77 municipal-level institutions (15.8%) and 397 county-level institutions (81.7%). Of all schistosomiasis control institutions, 376 (77.4%) were centers for disease control and prevention or public health centers, 102 (21.0%) were institutions for schistosomiasis, endemic disease and parasitic disease control, and 8 (1.6%) were hospitals, healthcare centers or others. There were 37 713 active employees in the 486 schistosomiasis control institutions, including 5 675 employees related to schistosomiasis control, and the proportions of employees associated with schistosomiasis control among all active employees were 5.9% (231/3 897), 5.5% (566/10 134), and 20.6% (4 878/23 682) in provincial-, municipal-, and county-level institutions, respectively. There were 3 826 full-time employees working in schistosomiasis control activities, with 30.5% (1 166/3 826), 34.6% (1 324) and 34.9% (1 336/3 826) at ages of 40 years and below, 41 to 50 years and over 50 years, and there were 1 571 (41.0%) full-time schistosomiasis control employees with duration of schistosomiasis control activities for over 25 years, and 1 358 (35.5%) employees with junior professional titles and 1 290 with intermediate professional titles (35.5%), while 712 (18.6%) full-time employees working in schistosomiasis control activities had no professional titles. The three core schistosomiasis control activities included snail control (26.3%, 374/1 420), epidemics surveillance and management (25.4%, 361/1 420) and health education (18.8%, 267/1 420) in schistosomiasis control institutions. The Kato-Katz method, miracidium hatching test with nylon gauzes, and indirect haemagglutination assay (IHA) were the most commonly used techniques for detection of schistosomiasis, and there were less than 50% laboratories that had capabilities or experimental conditions for performing enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), dipstick dye immunoassay (DDIA), dot immunogold filtration assay (DIG-FA), loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays. During the period from 2018 to 2022, schistosomiasis control institutions had undertaken a total of 211 research projects for schistosomiasis control, with a total funding of 18.596 million RMB, published 619 articles, participated in formulation of 13 schistosomiasis control-related criteria, and applied for 113 schistosomiasis control-related patents, including 101 that were granted, and commercialized 4 scientific research outcomes. CONCLUSIONS The proportion of independent specialized schistosomiasis control institutions is low in schistosomiasis control institutions in China, which suffers from problems of unsatisfactory laboratory testing capabilities, aging of staff and a high proportion of low-level professional titles. More investment into and intensified schistosomiasis control activities and improved capability building and talent cultivation in schistosomiasis control institutions are recommended to provide a powerful support for high-quality elimination of schistosomiasis in China.

A model for evaluating the performance of compulsory education inputs in ethnic areas in China. Heliyon 2024; 10:e26247. [PMID: 38390186 PMCID: PMC10882021 DOI: 10.1016/j.heliyon.2024.e26247] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 03/13/2023] [Revised: 01/24/2024] [Accepted: 02/08/2024] [Indexed: 02/24/2024] Open
Abstract
A scientific performance evaluation model is necessary to establish a performance evaluation index system for compulsory education in ethnic areas and to conduct objective and impartial evaluations. After conducting theoretical analysis and reviewing literature, it was determined that existing educational input performance evaluation models are general and fail to reflect the unique characteristics of compulsory education development in ethnic areas of China. Therefore, this study intends to improve their self-adaptability and degree of fit. Based on the features of China's ethnic areas and the current situation of compulsory education development, a trinity evaluation model of compulsory education input performance in ethnic regions was constructed using the classical performance evaluation theoretical framework. This model includes the "implementation topic - target concept - performance dimension." The government is the main organization responsible for organizing and implementing the entire performance evaluation, with publicness and responsiveness as the value idea of evaluation. The "4E″ of enough, equity, efficiency, and effectiveness are the evaluation objectives, and input, allocation, output, and effect are the dimensions of the building of the performance evaluation index system. The "4E″ evaluation objectives are integrated into the performance evaluation dimensions and index system. The reconstructed theoretical model of performance evaluation combines universality and specificity, highlights the dual attributes of "tool-value," realizes the organic combination of internal and external performance evaluation, illustrates the overall performance evaluation process and ensures objective, fair, and accurate performance evaluation results. It provides useful guidelines for further optimizing compulsory education investment policies and promoting high-quality and well-balanced compulsory education in China's ethnic areas.

Competitive Coordination Structure Regulation in Deep Eutectic Electrolyte for Stable Zinc Batteries. Angew Chem Int Ed Engl 2024; 63:e202316499. Abstract
Rechargeable zinc-based batteries are finding their niche in energy storage applications where cost, safety, scalability matter, yet they are plagued by rapid performance degradation due to the lack of suitable electrolytes to stabilize Zn anode. Herein, we report a competitive coordination structure to form unique quaternary hydrated eutectic electrolyte with ligand-cation-anion cluster. Unraveled by experiment and calculation results, the competing component can enter initial primary coordination shell of Zn2+ ion, partially substituting Lewis basic eutectic ligands and reinforcing cation-anion interaction. The hydration-deficient complexes induced between competing eutectic as hydrogen bond donor-accepter and water also broaden the electrochemical window and confine free water activity. The altered coordination further leads to robust hybrid organic-inorganic enriched solid electrolyte interphase, enabling passivated surface and suppressed dendrite growth. Noticeably, stable Zn plating/stripping for 8000 cycles with high Coulombic efficiencies of 99.6 % and long cycling life of 10000 cycles for Zn-organic batteries are obtained. Even under harsh conditions (small N/P ratio, low temperature), the profits brought by the competitive eutectic electrolyte are still very prominent. This design principle leveraged by eutectic electrolytes with competitive coordination offers a new approach to improve battery performance.

Abstract
AIM To assess changes in the susceptibility of the caudate nucleus (CN), putamen, and globus pallidus (GP) in patients with neurological and hepatic Wilson's disease (WD) by quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM). MATERIAL AND METHODS The brain MRI images of 33 patients diagnosed with WD and 20 age-matched controls were analysed retrospectively. All participants underwent brain T1-weighted, T2-weighted, and QSM imaging using a 1.5 T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine. QSM maps were evaluated with the STISuite toolbox. The quantitative susceptibility levels of the CN, putamen, and GP were analysed using region of interest analysis on QSM maps. Differences among neurological WD patients, hepatic patients, and controls were determined. RESULTS Susceptibility levels were significantly higher for all examined structures (CN, putamen and GP) in patients with neurological WD compared with controls (all p<0.05) and hepatic WD patients (all p<0.05). No statistically significant differences were found in susceptibility levels between patients with hepatic WD and controls (all p>0.05). CONCLUSION The QSM technique is a valuable tool for detecting changes in brain susceptibility in WD patients, indicating abnormal metal deposition. Notably, the current findings suggest that neurological WD patients exhibit more severe susceptibility changes compared with hepatic WD patients. Therefore, QSM can be utilised as a complementary method to detect brain injury in WD patients.

Abstract
Heteroatom doping is a possible way to regulate the catalytic capability of electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). This work focuses on the development of bimetallic Cobalt-Iron sulfide ultrathin nanosheets supported on the graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) catalyst as efficient HER electrocatalysts (CoS2/FeS2/CN) with good stability at wide pH value. The ultrathin nanosheet exposes more active sites and enhances the catalyst activity. Electrochemical experiments demonstrate that adding g-C3N4 and Fe to CoS2 increases its catalytic activity and stability. Furthermore, g-C3N4 and Fe co-doped with CoS2 can modulate electronic structures on the interface. The CoS2/FeS2/CN exhibits outstanding HER performance, reaching a current density of 10 mA cm-2 with overpotentials of only 76.5 mV in an acidic solution and 175.6 mV in an alkaline solution. It also demonstrates exceptional durability, superior to commercial platinum/carbon catalysts. This work introduces a promising approach for designing low-cost, high-performance HER electrocatalysts with a wide pH range.

Abstract
BACKGROUND FLT-PET/CT can accurately identify and locate functional bone marrow (FBM) with hematopoietic capability, the FBM were divided into two levels as FBM1 (strongest hemopoietic ability region)and FBM2 (moderate hemopoietic ability region) via FLT-PET/CT. The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between dose-volume parameters of pelvic FBM and hematologic toxicity (HT) during radiotherapy with or without concurrent chemotherapy for uterine cervical/endometrial cancer. METHODS From December 2016 to September 2021, ninety-seven uterine cervical/endometrial cancer patients received intensity-modulated radiation therapy were prospectively recruited in this single-arm, prospective, phase II trial. Blood counts were reviewed weekly during radiotherapy. Single- and multifactor regression methods were used to analyze the relationships between dose-volume parameters of FBM1/2 and grade ≥ 2 HT. ROC curves were used to determine the cutoff values for the dose-volume parameters of FBM1/2. RESULTS The incidence of grade ≥ 2 leukopenia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia and anemia in patients during radiotherapy was 63.9%, 45.4%, 19.6% and 38.8% respectively, and the median occurrence time was the 29th, 42th, 35th and 31th day, respectively. Multivariate regression analysis showed that the Dmax of FBM1 was significantly related to grade ≥ 2 leukopenia (OR = 1.277 95% CI 1.067-1.528, P = 0.008), Dmean of FBM2 was significantly related to grade ≥ 2 thrombocytopenia (OR = 1.262 95% CI 1.066-1.494, P = 0.007), and V10 of FBM1 was significantly related to grade ≥ 2 anemia (OR = 1.198 95% CI 1.003-1.431, P = 0.046). The incidence of grade ≥ 2 leukopenia for patients with FBM1 Dmax < 53 Gy was lower than that for patients with FBM1 Dmax ≥ 53 Gy (53.4% vs. 95.8%, P < 0.001). The incidence of grade ≥ 2 thrombocytopenia in patients with FBM2 Dmean < 33 Gy was lower than that in patients with FBM2 Dmean ≥ 33 Gy (0 vs. 28.4%, P < 0.001). The incidence of grade ≥ 2 anemia for patients with FBM1 V10 < 95% was lower than that in patients with FBM1 V10 ≥ 95% (24.4% vs. 57.1%, P = 0.003). CONCLUSIONS Grade ≥ 2 HT usually occurs in the 4th week of radiotherapy for patients with uterine cervical/endometrial cancer. The Dmax and V10 of FBM1 and the Dmean of FBM2 were significantly associated with the occurrence of grade ≥ 2 HT. The recommended optimal dose constraints were FBM1 Dmax < 53 Gy, V10 < 95%, and FBM2 Dmean <33 Gy.

Abstract
Understanding the role of parton mass and Casimir color factors in the quantum chromodynamics parton shower represents an important step in characterizing the emission properties of heavy quarks. Recent experimental advances in jet substructure techniques have provided the opportunity to isolate and characterize gluon emissions from heavy quarks. In this Letter, the first direct experimental constraint on the charm-quark splitting function is presented, obtained via the measurement of the groomed shared momentum fraction of the first splitting in charm jets, tagged by a reconstructed D^{0} meson. The measurement is made in proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV, in the low jet transverse-momentum interval of 15≤p_{T}^{jet ch}<30 GeV/c where the emission properties are sensitive to parton mass effects. In addition, the opening angle of the first perturbative emission of the charm quark, as well as the number of perturbative emissions it undergoes, is reported. Comparisons to measurements of an inclusive-jet sample show a steeper splitting function for charm quarks compared with gluons and light quarks. Charm quarks also undergo fewer perturbative emissions in the parton shower, with a reduced probability of large-angle emissions.

The combination of multiple linear regression and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system can accurately predict trihalomethane levels in tap water with fewer water quality parameters. THE SCIENCE OF THE TOTAL ENVIRONMENT 2023; 896:165269. [PMID: 37400033 DOI: 10.1016/j.scitotenv.2023.165269] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 04/04/2023] [Revised: 06/30/2023] [Accepted: 06/30/2023] [Indexed: 07/05/2023]
Abstract
Artificial Neural Network (ANN) models are accurate in predicting the levels of disinfection by-products (DBPs) in drinking water. However, these models are not yet practical due to the large number of parameters involved, which should take a significant amount of time and cost to detect. Developing accurate and reliable prediction models of DBPs with fewest parameters is essential in the management of drinking water safety. This study used the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) and radial basis function artificial neural network (RBF-ANN) to predict the levels of trihalomethanes (THMs), the most abundant DBPs in drinking water. Two water quality parameters identified by multiple linear regression (MLR) models were used as model inputs, and the quality of the models was assessed based on criteria such as correlation coefficient (r), mean absolute relative error (MARE), and the percentage of predictions with absolute relative error less than 25% (NE<25%) and over than 40% (NE>40%), etc. The results showed that the ANFIS models had higher correlation coefficients (r = 0.853-0.898) and prediction accuracy (NE<25% = 91%-94%) compared to RBF-ANN models (r = 0.553-0.819; NE<25% = 77%-86%) and traditional MLR models (r = 0.389-0.619; NE<25% = 67%-77%). Conversely, the prediction error, as indicated by MARE and NE>40%, showed the opposite trend: ANFIS models (MARE = 8%-11%; NE>40% = 0-5%) < RBF-ANN models (MARE = 15%-18%; NE>40% = 5%-11%) < MLR models (MARE = 19%-21%; NE>40% = 11%-17%). The present study provided a novel approach for constructing high-quality prediction models of THMs in water supply systems using only two parameters. This method holds promise as a viable alternative for monitoring THMs concentrations in tap water, thereby contributing to the improvement of water quality management strategies.

Down-Regulation of miRNA-1303 Promotes the Angiogenesis of HUVECs via Targeting THSD7A. Mol Biotechnol 2023:10.1007/s12033-023-00906-9. Abstract
Angiogenesis promotes neurological recovery after acute ischemic stroke (AIS), and microRNAs play crucial roles in cerebral angiogenesis. This study found that Homo sapiens-microRNA-1303(miR-1303) was reduced in blood specimens of AIS patients and human umbilical vein endothelial cells after suffering from oxygen-glucose deprivation/reperfusion. The experiment detected the effect of miR-1303 on angiogenesis by wound healing assay, tube formation assay, and transwell assay. Down-regulation of miRNA-1303 promotes angiogenesis in vitro experiments, while miR-1303 over-expression reverses this effect. Based on bioinformatics analyses and dual-luciferase reporter assay, the thrombospondin type 1 domain containing 7A (THSD7A) was investigated and further validated as the downstream gene of miR-1303. Furthermore, the knockdown of miR-1303 decreased the protein translation and mRNA transcript levels of THSD7A. Our results reveal a novel miR-1303/THSD7A pathway for angiogenesis and further imply that miR-1303 can be a promising biomarker and therapeutic target for AIS.

Occurrence, spatiotemporal distribution patterns, partitioning and risk assessments of multiple pesticide residues in typical estuarine water environments in eastern China. WATER RESEARCH 2023; 245:120570. Abstract
The low terrain and the prosperous agriculture in the east of China, have caused the accumulation of pesticide residues in the estuaries. Therefore, this study analyzed the spatiotemporal distribution and partition tendency of 106 pesticides based on their abundance, frequencies, and concentrations in the aquatic environment of 16 river estuaries in 7 major basins in the eastern China by using solid-phase extraction (SPE) with high-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC‒MS/MS) and gas chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (GC‒MS/MS). In addition, potential risk of multiple pesticides was also evaluated. The results showed that herbicides were the dominant pesticide type, while triazines were the predominate substance group of pesticide. In addition, triadimenol, vinclozolin, diethylatrazine, prometryn, thiamethoxam, atrazine, and metalachlor were the major pesticides in the water, while prometryn, metalachlor, and atrazine were the main pesticides in the sediment. The average total concentration of pesticide was 751.15 ng/L in the dry season, 651.17 ng/L in the wet season, and 617.37 ng/L in the normal season, respectively. The estuaries of the Huai River Basin, the Yangtze River Basin, the Hai River Basin, and the Yellow River Basin have been affected by the low pollution treatment efficiency, weak infrastructure, and agricultural/non-agricultural activities in eastern China, resulting in relatively serious pesticide pollution. The estuaries of Huaihe River, Yangtze River, Xiaoqing River, and Luanhe River had large pesticide abundance and comparatively severe pesticide pollution, while the estuaries of Tuhai River and Haihe River had heavy pesticide contamination in the sediment, which might be induced by historical sedimentary factors. The log KOC values showed that except for thioketone, other pesticides were relatively stable due to the adsorption by sediment. The ecological risk assessment results indicated that insecticides had a high risk. Teenagers were the most severely affected by the noncarcinogenic risk of pesticides, while adults were mostly affected by the carcinogenic risk of pesticides. Therefore, pesticide hazards in the water environment of estuaries in eastern China needs to be further close supervision.

Prediction Analysis of Dose Verification Based on Plan Complexity Metrics during Radiotherapy. Int J Radiat Oncol Biol Phys 2023; 117:e692. [PMID: 37786032 DOI: 10.1016/j.ijrobp.2023.06.2166] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 10/04/2023]
Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Plan validation in radiotherapy includes pre-treatment and in-treatment validation. It is feasible to leverage plan complexity to optimize validation processes, because some research reports that the consistency between planning and measurement or execution decreases as plan complexity increases. Therefore, starting from the plan complexity, this study comprehensively and systematically explores these factors affecting whether the plan verification is passed or not and the strength of their correlations, so as to establish a regression model and optimize the verification process. MATERIALS/METHODS The IMRT and model-based validation information were retrospectively collected for patients who received tumor radiotherapy at our institution from January 2020 to May 2022. The seventy-eight metrics characterizing the plan complexity were calculated and checked for each plan by an in-house developed computing platform. The comparisons of plan verification results under different tumor species and different verification methods were carried out, and the plan complexity metrics was also compared. Subsequently, Spearman correlation analysis between plan complexity and plan validation under different tumor species, different verification methods and different evaluation indexes was analyzed to provide the basis for regression analysis. RESULTS One thousand two hundred twenty-six patients were enrolled in the study. The plans in Eclipse TPS were performed by Varian Edge and iX linear accelerators and their verification were executed by EPID, Delat4, and ArcCheck. The gamma index under evaluation index of 3%/3mm, 3%/2mm, 2%/2mm, 1%/1mm were respectively 97.4% (7.1%), 94.8% (10.9%), 86.1% (20.1%), 50.7% (22.6%). The γ and DD of EPID and Detla4 decreased with the increase of TH, and the change of DD was the most significant, while the DTA of Detla4 did not change significantly with TH, and the passing rate of DTA and γ in thoracic and abdominal was the highest in ArcCheck group. Contrast and Variance were the most different between tumor types. The pelvic MIs and MIa were larger than those planned for the other three sites. Except for head and neck CLS and MD, other metrics did not vary significantly among tumor species. The correlation between the metrics characterizing the static characteristics of leaves was more significant for head and neck tumors; the correlation between metrics characterizing the flux complexity were significantly different in pelvic. There was a correlation between plan complexity and γ indicators, and the overall strength was ArcCheck > EPID > Delta4 for head and neck, Delta4 > EPID and ArcCheck for thorax-abdomen, Delta4 and EPID > ArcCheck for pelvic, Delta4 > ArcCheck > EPID for arms and legs. CONCLUSION There was a correlation between different plan complexity metrics. Based on this study, it is feasible to predict the verification results based on these complexity metrics, but the regression models were respectively established according to tumor types and validation methods.

High familiar faces have both eye recognition and holistic processing advantages. Atten Percept Psychophys 2023; 85:2296-2306. Abstract
People recognize familiar faces better than unfamiliar faces. However, it remains unknown whether familiarity affects part-based and/or holistic processing. Wang et al., Frontiers in Psychology, 6, 559 (2015), Vision Research, 157, 89-96 (2019) found both enhanced part-based and holistic processing in eye relative to mouth regions (i.e., in a region-selective manner) for own-race and own-species faces, i.e., faces with more experience. Here, we examined the role of face familiarity in eyes (part-based, region-selective) and holistic processing. Face familiarity was tested at three levels: high-familiar (faces of students from the same department and the same class who attended almost all courses together), low-familiar (faces of students from the same department but different classes who attended some courses together), and unfamiliar (faces of schoolmates from different departments who seldom attended the same courses). Using the old/new task in Experiment 1, we found that participants recognized eyes of high-familiar faces better than low-familiar and unfamiliar ones, while similar performance was observed for mouths, indicating a region-selective, eyes familiarity effect. Using the "Perceptual field" paradigm in Experiment 2, we observed a stronger inversion effect for high-familiar faces, a weaker inversion effect for low-familiar faces, but a non-significant inversion effect for unfamiliar faces, indicating that face familiarity plays a role in holistic processing. Taken together, our results suggest that familiarity, like other experience-based variables (e.g., race and species), can improve both eye processing and holistic processing.

Abstract
The most precise measurements to date of the _{Λ}^{3}H lifetime τ and Λ separation energy B_{Λ} are obtained using the data sample of Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV collected by ALICE at the LHC. The _{Λ}^{3}H is reconstructed via its charged two-body mesonic decay channel (_{Λ}^{3}H→^{3}He+π^{-} and the charge-conjugate process). The measured values τ=[253±11(stat)±6(syst)] ps and B_{Λ}=[102±63(stat)±67(syst)] keV are compatible with predictions from effective field theories and confirm that the _{Λ}^{3}H structure is consistent with a weakly bound system.

First Measurement of Antideuteron Number Fluctuations at Energies Available at the Large Hadron Collider. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 131:041901. Abstract
The first measurement of event-by-event antideuteron number fluctuations in high energy heavy-ion collisions is presented. The measurements are carried out at midrapidity (|η|<0.8) as a function of collision centrality in Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV using the ALICE detector. A significant negative correlation between the produced antiprotons and antideuterons is observed in all collision centralities. The results are compared with a state-of-the-art coalescence calculation. While it describes the ratio of higher order cumulants of the antideuteron multiplicity distribution, it fails to describe quantitatively the magnitude of the correlation between antiproton and antideuteron production. On the other hand, thermal-statistical model calculations describe all the measured observables within uncertainties only for correlation volumes that are different with respect to those describing proton yields and a similar measurement of net-proton number fluctuations.

Enhanced Deuteron Coalescence Probability in Jets. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 131:042301. Abstract
The transverse-momentum (p_{T}) spectra and coalescence parameters B_{2} of (anti)deuterons are measured in p-p collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV for the first time in and out of jets. In this measurement, the direction of the leading particle with the highest p_{T} in the event (p_{T}^{lead}>5 GeV/c) is used as an approximation for the jet axis. The event is consequently divided into three azimuthal regions, and the jet signal is obtained as the difference between the toward region, that contains jet fragmentation products in addition to the underlying event (UE), and the transverse region, which is dominated by the UE. The coalescence parameter in the jet is found to be approximately a factor of 10 larger than that in the underlying event. This experimental observation is consistent with the coalescence picture and can be attributed to the smaller average phase-space distance between nucleons in the jet cone as compared with the underlying event. The results presented in this Letter are compared to predictions from a simple nucleon coalescence model, where the phase-space distributions of nucleons are generated using pythia8 with the Monash 2013 tuning, and to predictions from a deuteron production model based on ordinary nuclear reactions with parametrized energy-dependent cross sections tuned on data. The latter model is implemented in pythia8.3. Both models reproduce the observed large difference between in-jet and out-of-jet coalescence parameters, although the almost flat trend of the B_{2}^{Jet} is not reproduced by the models, which instead give a decreasing trend.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the therapeutic mechanism of Liushen Wan (LSW) against colitis-associated colorectal cancer (CAC) by network pharmacology. METHODS TCMSP, BATMAN-TCM, CNKI, PubMed, Genecards, OMIM, and TTD databases were used to obtain the related targets of LSW and CAC. The common targets of LSW and CAC were obtained using Venny online website. The PPI network was constructed using Cytoscape 3.8.2 to screen the core targets of LSW in the treatment of CAC. GO and KEGG enrichment analysis were conducted using DAVID database. The therapeutic effect of LSW on CAC was evaluated in a C57BL/6J mouse model of AOM/DSS-induced CAC by observing the changes in body weight, disease activity index, colon length, and size and number of the tumor. HE staining and RT-qPCR were used to analyze the effect of LSW on inflammatory mediators. Immunohistochemistry and TUNEL staining were used to evaluate the effect of LSW on the proliferation and apoptosis of AOM/DSS-treated colon tumor cells. Immunohistochemistry and Western blotting were used to detect the effects of LSW on the expression of TLR4 proteins in CAC mice. RESULTS Network pharmacology analysis identified 69 common targets of LSW and CAC, and 33 hub targets were screened in the PPI network. KEGG pathway enrichment analysis suggested that the effect of LSW on CAC was mediated by the Toll-like receptor signaling pathway. In the mouse model of AOM/DSS-induced CAC, LSW significantly inhibited colitis-associated tumorigenesis, reduced tumor number and tumor load (P < 0.05), obviously improved histopathological changes in the colon, downregulated the mRNA levels of proinflammatory cytokines, and inhibited the proliferation (P < 0.01) and promoted apoptosis of colon tumor cells (P < 0.001). LSW also significantly decreased TLR4 protein expression in the colon tissue (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION LSW can inhibit CAC in mice possibly by regulating the expression of TLR4 to reduce intestinal inflammation, inhibit colon tumor cell proliferation and promote their apoptosis.

Aerosol generation with the use of positive pressure ventilation via supraglottic airway devices: an observational study. Anaesthesia 2023. Abstract
The amount of aerosol generation associated with the use of positive pressure ventilation via a supraglottic airway device has not been quantified. We conducted a two-group, two-centre, prospective cohort study in which we recruited 21 low-risk adult patients scheduled for elective surgery under general anaesthesia with second-generation supraglottic airway devices. An optical particle sizer and an isokinetic sampling probe were used to record particle concentrations per second at different size distributions (0.3-10 μm) during use as well as baseline levels during two common activities (conversation and coughing). There was a median (IQR [range]) peak increase of 2.8 (1.5-4.5 [1-28.1]) and 4.1 (2.0-7.1 [1-18.2]) times background concentrations during SAD insertion and removal. Most of the particles generated during supraglottic airway insertion (85.0%) and removal (85.3%) were < 3 μm diameter. Median (IQR [range]) aerosol concentration generated by insertion (1.1 (0.6-5.1 [0.2-22.3]) particles.cm-3 ) and removal (2.1 (0.5-3.0 [0.1-18.9]) particles.cm-3 ) of SADs were significantly lower than those produced during continuous talking (44.5 (28.3-70.5 [2.0-134.5]) particles.cm-3 ) and coughing (141.0 (98.3-202.8 [4.0-296.5]) particles.cm-3 ) (p < 0.001). The aerosol levels produced were similar with the two devices. The proportion of easily inhaled and small particles (<1 μm) produced during insertion (57.5%) and removal (57.5%) was much lower than during talking (99.1%) and coughing (99.6%). These results suggest that the use of supraglottic airway devices in low-risk patients, even with positive pressure ventilation, generates fewer aerosols than speaking and coughing in awake patients.

Abstract
In the lithium-dominated era, rechargeable Zn batteries are emerging as a competitive alternative. However, the sluggish kinetics of ion diffusion and structural destruction of cathode materials have thus far hampered the realization of future large-scale energy storage. Herein, an in situ self-transformation approach is reported to electrochemically boost the activity of a high-temperature, argon-treated VO2 (AVO) microsphere for effective Zn ion storage. The presynthesized AVO with hierarchical structure and high crystallinity allows efficient electrochemical oxidation and water insertion to induce self-phase transformation into V2 O5 ·nH2 O within the first charging process, which leads to rich active sites and fast electrochemical kinetics. Using AVO cathode, an outstanding discharge capacity of 446 mAh g-1 at 0.1 A g-1 , high rate capability of 323 mAh g-1 at 10 A g-1 and excellent cycling stability for 4000 cycles at 20 A g-1 with high capacity retention are demonstrated. Importantly, such zinc-ion batteries with phase self-transition can also perform well at high-loading, sub-zero temperature, or pouch cell conditions for practical application. This work not only paves a new route to design in situ self-transformation in energy storage devices, but also broadens the horizons of aqueous zinc-supplied cathodes.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the clinical effects of free anterolateral thigh perforator flap pedicled with descending genicular artery in repairing wounds after lower leg limb-sparing surgery. Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted. From January 2019 to June 2021, 12 patients with wounds after lower leg limb-sparing surgery who met the inclusion criteria were admitted to Suzhou Ruihua Orthopedic Hospital, including 6 males and 6 females, aged 17 to 74 years, with original wound area ranging from 17 cm×9 cm to 40 cm×15 cm. Five patients had infection in wounds. The wounds were all repaired by free anterolateral thigh perforator flap from contralateral thigh, with area of 18 cm×10 cm to 37 cm×9 cm. The artery of flap was anastomosed with the descending genicular artery, and the wounds in donor areas were sutured directly. Seven patients were transplanted with split-thickness skin grafts from the contralateral thigh to cover the remaining wounds that can not be covered by flap and the wounds in donor areas were covered with gauze. During the operation, the types of perforating branch carried by flap and the types of arteries and veins in recipient areas were recorded. The survival and occurrence of vascular crisis of flap, the survival of skin graft, the wound healing in donor and recipient areas, and the length of hospital stay after flap transplant surgery were recorded. During follow-up, the color and texture of flap, reinfection in lower leg, and fracture healing were recorded. At the last follow-up, the limb salvage function of patients was evaluated according to the functional evaluation criteria of Chen Zhongwei's amputated limb replantation. Results: The types of perforating branches carried by flaps were as follows: 6 cases of only carrying the descending branch of the lateral circumflex femoral artery, 3 cases of only carrying the oblique branch of the lateral circumflex femoral artery, and 3 cases of carrying the descending branch of the lateral circumflex femoral artery and oblique branch of the lateral circumflex femoral artery after internal pressurization anastomosis. The types of arteries in the recipient area of flap were as follows: one case of main trunk of the descending genicular artery, 8 cases of the saphenous branch of the descending genicular artery, and 3 cases of the articular branch of the descending genicular artery. The types of veins in the recipient area of flap were as follows: 8 cases of one accompanying vein of the descending genicular artery and one branch of the great saphenous vein, and 4 cases of two branches of the great saphenous vein. All the flaps survived without vascular crisis, and all the skin grafts also survived. The wounds in the donor and recipient areas were all healed. The length of hospital stay of patient after flap transplant surgery ranged from 13 to 79 days. During the follow-up of 6 to 23 months, the color and texture of flap were both good, with no infection in lower leg wound. Internal or external fixation were removed after fracture healing in 5 patients, and bone graft internal fixation was performed in 7 patients whose fractures were not healed after surgery and all the incisions healed without infection. At the last follow-up, the limb salvage effect of patients was evaluated as followings: excellent in 7 patients, good in 4 patients, and fair in one patient. Conclusions: Free anterolateral thigh flap pedicled with descending genicular artery can effectively repair the wounds after lower leg limb-sparing surgery and control infection with short length of hospital stay, while not increasing the risk of secondary injury of distal limb vessels. Thus, it can obtain satisfactory limb salvage effect which is worthy of clinical promotion.

Abstract
Spleen is an ideal site for initiating and amplifying antigen-specific immune response. However, spleen-selective antigen delivery has limited tumor therapeutic efficacy owing to an inadequate cytotoxic T-cell immune response. In this study, we designed a spleen-selective mRNA vaccine that delivered unmodified mRNA and Toll-like Receptor (TLR) agonists to the spleen after systemic administration, resulting in a sufficient and persistent antitumor cellular immune response with potent tumor immunotherapeutic efficacy. To establish potent tumor vaccines (sLNPs-OVA/MPLA), we co-loaded stearic acid doped lipid nanoparticles with ovalbumin (OVA)-coding mRNA and TLR4 agonists (MPLA). We found that sLNPs-OVA/MPLA facilitated tissue-specific mRNA expression in the spleen after intravenous injection and elicited enhanced adjuvant activity with Th1 immune responses by activating multiple TLRs. In a prophylactic mouse model, sLNPs-OVA/MPLA induced a potent antigen-specific cytotoxic T cell immune response and ultimately prevented the growth of EG.7-OVA tumors with persistent immune memory protection. In addition, sLNPs-OVA/MPLA effectively delayed the tumor growth of EG.7-OVA subcutaneously transplanted lymphoma and lung metastasis formation of B16F10-OVA intravenously injected melanoma. This study showed that the co-delivery of mRNA antigens and appropriate TLR agonists could significantly improve the antitumor immunotherapeutic efficacy of spleen-targeted mRNA vaccines via synergistic immunostimulation and Th1 immune responses.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Aside from the severity, surgical interventions for the treatment of neurological dysfunctions remain controversial. This study aimed to find factors predicting the benefits of tethered cord syndrome (TCS) surgery. PATIENTS AND METHODS 80 children with TCS were included and followed up for pre- and post-operative factors along with neurophysiological analysis. Outcomes were assessed by univariate and multivariate analysis. RESULTS Surgical treatment not only improved preoperative signs and symptoms in 79% of TCS patients but it showed to be an efficient procedure for the occurrence of future neurological defects. Univariate analysis also revealed that surgical intervention in TCS children (age <1 year) can modulate filar lipoma location and cutaneous abnormalities three months after surgery. Neurophysiological assessment revealed only 5.0% of surgical complications in TCS patients. Two patients had cerebrospinal fluid leakage, and two cases of CNS infection were detected. CONCLUSIONS Surgical intervention is highly recommended for the prevention of neurological deficits in children with TCS. Electrophysiological monitoring revealed rare complications following the surgery.

The Joint Effect of Body Mass Index and Serum Lipid Levels on Incident Dementia among Community-Dwelling Older Adults. J Nutr Health Aging 2023; 27:1118-1126. [PMID: 37997734 DOI: 10.1007/s12603-023-2027-5] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 07/26/2023] [Accepted: 10/11/2023] [Indexed: 11/25/2023]
Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study aimed to explore the joint effect of body mass index (BMI) and serum lipids levels on incident dementia. METHODS We prospectively followed up with 1,627 dementia-free community residents aged ≥60 for 5.7 years on average. At baseline, weight, and height were measured, and total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) were detected in serum. Demographic characteristics were collected through questionnaires. Dementia was based on consensus diagnosis of neurologists and neuropsychologists using DSM-IV criteria. Additive Cox proportional model was used to assess the exposure-response relationship between BMI and serum lipid levels and dementia risk. Interactions and further classifications of BMI and serum lipid levels were further presented by bivariate surface models and decision-tree models. RESULTS The joint effects of TC with BMI, TG with BMI, and LDL-C with BMI on the risk of incident dementia shared a similar pattern, different from their independent exposure-response curves. The joint effect of HDL-C with BMI showed an S-surface but without statistical significance. Participants with TC<5.4 mmol/L and BMI<21 kg/m2 (Hazard Ratio(HR) 1.93, 95% Confidence Interval (CI) 1.05-3.53), TC<5.4 mmol/L and BMI≥21 kg/m2 (HR 1.73, 95% CI 1.09-2.72), and TC≥5.4 mmol/L and BMI<21 kg/m2 (HR 4.02, 95% CI 2.10-7.71) were identified to have the increased risk of incident dementia compared to those with TC≥5.4 mmol/L and BMI≥21 kg/m2. Participants with TG<1.7 mmol/L and BMI<21 kg/m2 had an increased risk of incident dementia compared to those with TG≥1.7 mmol/L and BMI≥21 kg/m2 (HR 1.98, 95%CI 1.17-3.3). Participants with LDL-C≥3.3 mmol/L and BMI<21 kg/m2 were identified to have an increased risk of incident dementia compared to those with LDL-C≥3.3 mmol/L and BMI≥21 kg/m2 (HR 3.33, 95%CI 1.64-6.78). CONCLUSIONS Our study showed that low BMI combined with low or high levels of serum lipids may increase the risk of dementia among older adults. This finding suggests the potential impacts of these two metabolic indexes on the risk of dementia.

Risk factors for 90-day all-cause mortality in post-operative central nervous system infections (PCNSIs): A retrospective study of 99 patients in China. Medicine (Baltimore) 2022; 101:e32418. [PMID: 36596030 PMCID: PMC9803491 DOI: 10.1097/md.0000000000032418] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Download PDF] [Figures] [Journal Information] [Submit a Manuscript] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 12/31/2022] Open
Abstract
Post-operative central nervous system infections (PCNSIs) are serious complications of craniotomy. Many factors, including patient-related, surgical, and postoperative factors, affect the survival of patients with PCNSIs. Timely and effective implementation of antibiotics targeting pathogenic bacteria is crucial to reduce mortality. Metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) has been used successfully to detect pathogens associated with infectious diseases. This study was designed to evaluate the factors influencing mortality and to explore the application value of mNGS in patients with PCNSIs. We conducted a retrospective study of patients with PCNSIs in our unit from 1/12/2019 to 28/2/2021. Clinical data, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) parameters, surgical information, and mNGS results were collected. Follow-up telephone calls were made in June 2021 for 90 days survival after discharge. 99 patients were enrolled, and the overall mortality rate was 36.4% (36/99). Kaplan-Meier survival analysis suggested that the risk factors for poor prognosis included age ≥ 53 years, Glasgow Coma scale (GCS) score ≤ 8, CSF/blood glucose ratio (C/B-Glu) ≤ 0.23, 2 or more operations, mechanical ventilation (MV), and non-mNGS test. MV and poor wound healing were independent risk factors for 90 day mortality according to the multivariate Cox proportional hazards model (OR = 6.136, P = .017, OR = 2.260, P = .035, respectively). Among the enrolled patients, causative pathogens were identified in 37. Gram-negative pathogens were found in 22 (59.5%) patients, and the remaining 15 (40.5%) were Gram-positive pathogens. Univariate analysis showed that white cell count and protein and lactate levels in the CSF of the Gram-negative group were higher than those of the Gram-positive group (P < .05). mNGS and conventional microbiological culture were tested in 34 patients, and the positive detection rate of mNGS was 52.9%, which was significantly higher than that of microbiological culture (52.9% vs 26.5%, χ2 = 4.54, P = .033). The mortality rate of PCNSIs is high, and patients with MV and poor wound healing have a higher mortality risk. Gram-negative pathogens were the predominant pathogens in the patients with PCNSIs. mNGS testing has higher sensitivity and has the potential to reduce the risk of mortality in patients with PCNSIs.

Silencing lncRNA Snhg6 mitigates bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis in mice via miR-26a-5p/TGF-β1-smads axis. ENVIRONMENTAL TOXICOLOGY 2022; 37:2375-2387. Abstract
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is an interstitial pulmonary disease with slow onset and high mortality. Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a significant condition for tissue fibrosis, and lncRNA-Snhg6 (small nucleolar RNA host gene 6) is related to EMT in some cancer cells, but its role in pulmonary fibrosis remains obscure. Here, we found that TGF-β1 and Snhg6 were up-regulated in lung tissues of BLM-induced lung fibrosis mouse, and Snhg6 expression was significantly increased in primary lung fibroblasts after BLM treatment. Snhg6 knockdown notably alleviated the pulmonary dysfunction, and the increase of fibrosis area and collagen deposition induced by BLM. MiR-26a-5p was downregulated in BLM-induced fibrotic lung tissues, and it was negatively regulated by Snhg6. Silencing Snhg6 markedly alleviated the TGF-β1-induced increase in fibrotic marker expression, cell proliferation, migration and differentiation, as well as the nuclear transport of p-Smad2/3 by modulating miR-26a-5p expression in mouse lung fibroblasts. Moreover, overexpressing Snhg6-induced collagen accumulation and fibroblast activation in fibroblasts, which was reversed by treatment with miR-26a-5p mimic or oxymatrine (an inhibitor of TGF-β1-Smads pathway). Interestingly, silencing Snhg6 in vivo mitigated BLM-driven pulmonary fibrosis by regulating the miR-26a-5p/TGF-β1-Smads axis. Our data revealed that Snhg6 contributed to the process of BLM-driven lung fibrosis in mouse by modulating the miR-26a-5p/TGF-β1-Smads axis, suggesting that Snhg6 might be a therapeutic target for lung fibrosis.

Association between maternal oxygenation and brain growth in fetuses with left-sided cardiac obstructive lesions. ULTRASOUND IN OBSTETRICS & GYNECOLOGY : THE OFFICIAL JOURNAL OF THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF ULTRASOUND IN OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY 2022; 60:499-505. Abstract
OBJECTIVE Impaired brain growth has been observed in fetuses with left-sided obstructive lesions (LSOL). Maternal oxygenation (MO) can alter fetal cerebral oxygenation and vascular reactivity. Our aim was to observe whether brain growth improves during MO in fetuses with LSOL. METHODS Forty-six fetuses with LSOL and 23 control fetuses were enrolled in this prospective longitudinal study. Fetuses with LSOL were subgrouped into those with MO (LSOL-MO, n = 23) and those without MO (LSOL-nMO, n = 23). Fetal head circumference (HC) and total intracranial volume (TIV) were evaluated serially at 4-week intervals. Brain biometry and growth were analyzed using linear mixed models adjusted for gestational age and sex. Spearman's correlation coefficients were calculated to identify baseline characteristics predictive of brain growth in the LSOL-MO group. RESULTS Duration of MO therapy had significant interaction effects on cerebral biometry in fetuses with LSOL. TIV increased more rapidly after 8 weeks of oxygen exposure and HC was larger after 16 weeks of oxygen exposure in the LSOL-MO group compared with the LSOL-nMO group (P < 0.001). The change in TIV at the final time- point relative to the initial timepoint in the LSOL-MO group correlated negatively with the baseline pulsatility index of the middle cerebral artery (r = -0.58, P = 0.003) and baseline myocardial performance index of the left ventricle (r = -0.68, P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS TIV and HC increased faster in fetuses with LSOL which had MO compared with those that did not. Lower cerebral vascular resistance and preserved left heart function at baseline may predict greater cerebral biometric growth during MO. Additional research, including larger serial studies, is needed to confirm these preliminary findings and evaluate the clinical application of MO in this population. © 2022 International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Glutamine synthetase gene PpGS1.1 negatively regulates the powdery mildew resistance in Kentucky bluegrass. HORTICULTURE RESEARCH 2022; 9:uhac196. Abstract
Excessive nitrogen (N) application may induce powdery mildew (PM) in perennial grasses, but the resistance mechanisms to PM remain unclear. This study evaluated the physiological and molecular mechanisms of PM resistance affected by N supplies in Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis L.). Cultivar 'Bluemoon' (N tolerant) and 'Balin' (N sensitive) were treated with low N (0.5 mM), normal N (15 mM), and high N (30 mM) for 21 d in a greenhouse. With increasing N levels, the disease growth was more severe in 'Balin' than in 'Bluemoon'. RNA-seq and weighted gene coexpression network analysis revealed that the PpGS1.1 gene encoding glutamine synthetase was a potential hub gene for PM resistance after comparisons across cultivars and N treatments. The N metabolism pathway was connected with the plant-pathogen interaction pathway via PpGS1.1. The expression of PpGS1.1 in rice protoplasts indicated that the protein was located in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Overexpression of PpGS1.1 in wild-type Kentucky bluegrass increased carbon and N contents, and the transgenic plants became more susceptible to PM with a lower wax density. The most differentially expressed genes (DEGs) for N metabolism were upregulated and DEGs for fatty acid metabolism pathway were downregulated in the overexpression lines. The results elucidated mechanisms of PM resistance in relation to N metabolism in Kentucky bluegrass.

Abstract
An easily accessible biomarker with good diagnostic power for patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) was needed to predict the short-term mortality. Studies have shown that platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) is a biomarker for patients with tumor. This study aimed to identify the relationship between PLR and short-term mortality in patients with moderate to severe TBI. This is a retrospective cohort study. We selected patients with moderate to severe TBI who were admitted to the emergency department of The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University. Biomarkers were collected within 24 h after admission. To investigate their relationship with short-term mortality, Cox proportional hazards regression and ROC curve analysis were performed. A total number of 170 patients was included. 47 (27.6%) patients had died and 123 (72.4%) patients were survived by the end of the study. Patients with different Rotterdam CT score (HR = 1.571, 95%CI 1.232–2.002, p < 0.001) or PLR levels (HR = 1.523, 95%CI 1.110–2.090, p = 0.009) had significant different mortality rates. The AUC curve analysis showed that the AUC of Rotterdam CT score and PLR groups were 0.729 (95%CI 0.638–0.821, p < 0.001) and 0.711 (95%CI 0.618–0.803 p < 0.001), respectively. PLR level is an independent biomarker with great diagnostic power for short-term mortality in patients with moderate to severe brain injury.

Abstract
Due to the finding of severe side effects and low therapeutic efficacy with cancer chemotherapy, there still remains a great challenge to benefit patients with curative effect. In this work, we designed a self-powered drug delivery system comprising a current source derived from the disk TENG (D-TENG) and a pair of Au electrodes. Thus, cells seeded within the electrode gap could be stimulated by the current followed by D-TENG`s work. Under the rotation frequency of about 7.4 Hz, the peak output current and voltage of the D-TENG reached 3.7 μA and 135 V and achieved an average of 2.8 μA of output current. Furthermore, the D-TENG also showed its good stability to output steady current in a long-term condition. When applying the electric stimulation by this self-powered drug delivery system, a chemotherapy drug, doxorubicin (DOX), had significant uptake by cancer cells. Therefore, utilizing a novel TENG device as a part of chemotherapy would provide a new opportunity in future disease treatment.

Abstract
The study of nuclei and antinuclei production has proven to be a powerful tool to investigate the formation mechanism of loosely bound states in high-energy hadronic collisions. The first measurement of the production of _{Λ}^{3}H in p-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV is presented in this Letter. Its production yield measured in the rapidity interval -1<y<0 for the 40% highest-multiplicity p-Pb collisions is dN/dy=[6.3±1.8(stat)±1.2(syst)]×10^{-7}. The measurement is compared with the expectations of statistical hadronization and coalescence models, which describe the nucleosynthesis in hadronic collisions. These two models predict very different yields of the hypertriton in charged particle multiplicity environments relevant to small collision systems such as p-Pb, and therefore the measurement of dN/dy is crucial to distinguish between them. The precision of this measurement leads to the exclusion with a significance larger than 6.9σ of some configurations of the statistical hadronization model, thus constraining the theory behind the production of loosely bound states at hadron colliders.
