Abstract
BACKGROUNDS Platelet-to-albumin ratio (PAR) is a new systemic inflammatory prognostic indicator associated with many inflammatory diseases. However, its role in radiation cystitis (RC) is obscure. This study aimed to explore whether PAR could be used as an effective parameter for predicting the RC risk in local advanced cervical cancer (CC) treated with radiotherapy. METHODS A total of 319 local advanced CC patients who received radical radiotherapy at Fujian Cancer Hospital were enrolled between December 2018 and January 2021. Demographics and clinical parameters were retrospectively analyzed. Univariate and multivariate analyses were used to identify the risk factors for RC. Backward and stepwise regression was applied to construct two monograms-one with primary significant factors and the other with extra inflammatory biomarkers. A DeLong test was applied to compare the prediction abilities of two nomograms. Calibration curves and decision curve analysis (DCA) evaluated its prediction consistency, discrimination ability, and clinical net benefit. RESULTS Univariate analysis showed that age, tumor size, stage, total radiation dose, pelvic radiation dose, Systemic Immune-Inflammation Index (SII), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and PAR were significantly associated with RC occurrence (all p < 0.05). Multivariate analyses indicated that age, tumor size, stage, total radiation dose, and PAR were independent factors (all p < 0.05). Then, the area under curve (AUC) value of the nomogramSII+PAR was higher (AUC = 0.774) compared to that of the baseline nomogram (AUC = 0.726) (pDelong = 0.02). Also, the five-cross validation confirmed the stability of the nomogramSII+PAR. Moreover, the calibration curve and DCA exhibited the nomograms' good prediction consistency and clinical practicability. CONCLUSIONS PAR and SII could be valued for CC patients who are treated with radiation therapy. The nomogram based on PAR and SII could stratify patients who need extra intervention and nursing care to prevent bladder radiation damage and improve patients' quality of life.

Abstract
Background The systemic immuno-inflammation index (SII), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) are widely used and have been shown to be predictive indicators of various diseases. Diabetic nephropathy (DN), retinopathy (DR), and peripheral neuropathy (DPN) are the most prominent and common microvascular complications, which have seriously negative impacts on patients, families, and society. Exploring the associations with these three indicators and diabetic microvascular complications are the main purpose. Methods There were 1058 individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in this retrospective cross-sectional study. SII, NLR, and PLR were calculated. The diseases were diagnosed by endocrinologists. Logistic regression and subgroup analysis were applied to evaluate the association between SII, NLP, and PLR and diabetic microvascular complications. Results SII, NLR, and PLR were significantly associated with the risk of DN [odds ratios (ORs): 1.52, 1.71, and 1.60, respectively] and DR [ORs: 1.57, 1.79, and 1.55, respectively] by multivariate logistic regression. When NLR ≥2.66, the OR was significantly higher for the risk of DPN (OR: 1.985, 95% confidence interval: 1.29-3.05). Subgroup analysis showed no significant positive associations across different demographics and comorbidities, including sex, age, hypertension, HbA1c (glycated hemoglobin), and dyslipidemia. Conclusion This study found a positive relationship between NLR and DN, DR, and DPN. In contrast, SII and PLR were found to be only associated with DN and DR. Therefore, for the diagnosis of diabetic microvascular complications, SII, NLR and PLR are highly valuable.

Abstract
Background Frailty is a significant concern in the field of public health. However, currently, there is a lack of widely recognized and reliable biological markers for frailty. This study aims to investigate the association between systemic inflammatory biomarkers and frailty in the older adult population in the United States. Methods This study employed data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) spanning 2007 to 2018 and conducted a rigorous cross-sectional analysis. We constructed weighted logistic regression models to explore the correlation between the Systemic Immune-Inflammation Index (SII), Systemic Inflammatory Response Index (SIRI), and frailty in the population aged 40 to 80 years. Using restricted cubic spline (RCS), we successfully visualized the relationship between SII, SIRI, and frailty. Finally, we presented stratified analyses and interaction tests of covariates in a forest plot. Results This study involved 11,234 participants, 45.95% male and 54.05% female, with an average age of 64.75 ± 0.13 years. After adjusting for relevant covariates, the weighted logistic regression model indicated an odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval(CI) for the correlation between frailty and the natural logarithm (ln) transformed lnSII and lnSIRI as 1.38 (1.24-1.54) and 1.69 (1.53-1.88), respectively. Subsequently, we assessed different levels of lnSII and lnSIRI, finding consistent results. In the lnSII group model, the likelihood of frailty significantly increased in the fourth quartile (OR = 1.82, 95% CI: 1.55-2.12) compared to the second quartile. In the lnSIRI group model, the likelihood of frailty significantly increased in the third quartile (OR = 1.30, 95% CI: 1.10-1.53) and fourth quartile (OR = 2.29, 95% CI: 1.95-2.70) compared to the second quartile. The interaction results indicate that age and income-to-poverty ratio influence the association between lnSIRI and frailty. RCS demonstrated a nonlinear relationship between lnSII, lnSIRI, and frailty. Conclusion The results of this cross-sectional study indicate a positive correlation between systemic inflammatory biomarkers (SII, SIRI) and frailty.

Abstract
COVID-19 has been notoriously unpredictable in its clinical course. Such unpredictability poses a challenge to clinicians in predicting patients who will develop severe cases and possibly die from the infection. This study aims to assess and compare the diagnostic value of the NLR and SII as biomarkers in predicting COVID-19 severity, represented by mortality, with a multicentre comparative study including 855 patients in Saudi Arabia. Descriptive and analytical statistics were used to compare haematological indices between survivors and non-survivors. The median age of patients included was 41 years old, with an almost equal ratio of men to women. Most participants were Saudis, and the mortality rate in the study cohort was 13.22%. Non-survivors, as compared to survivors, were significantly older, had lower RBC counts, haemoglobin and haematocrit levels, as well as significantly higher WBC and neutrophil counts. Both the NLR and SII were capable of differentiating between survivors and non-survivors, with the latter having significantly higher values. However, the NLR was superior to the SII in such differentiation, as it had a larger area under the curve. This study further confirms the diagnostic values of the NLR and SII as biomarkers in predicting COVID-19 severity and mortality, with the NLR being more sensitive and specific. Clinical guidelines on managing COVID-19 cases should benefit from these findings by harnessing the value of the NLR in COVID-19 management.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In this diagnostic accuracy study, we examined the effectiveness of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and systemic immune inflammation index (SII) in predicting the need for surgical intervention in patients with anterior abdominal stab wounds (AASW) who exhibit unclear findings on physical examination yet remain hemodynamically stable. METHODS Over a 7-year period, patients with AASW were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were divided into two groups as surgical (SG) and nonsurgical group (nSG). The SG were also divided into two groups as therapeutic surgery (TS) group and the non-therapeutic surgery (nTS) group. The groups were compared in terms of NLR, PLR values and SII scores. RESULTS In a retrospective analysis of 199 patients with AASW, NLR, PLR and SII obtained during clinical follow-up of patients with AASW in whom the necessity for immediate surgery was unclear significantly predicted therapeutic surgery (p < 0.001 for all). These parameters did not show a significant difference in predicting the need for surgery at the admission. NLR showed an AUC of 0.971 and performed significantly better than PLR and SII (AUC = 0.874 and 0.902, respectively) in predicting TS. The optimal cut-off value for NLR was 3.33, with a sensitivity of 98.2%, a specificity of 90%, and a negative likelihood ratio of 0.02. Time from admission to surgery was significantly shorter in the TS group (p = 0.001). CONCLUSION NLR, PLR and SII values may be useful in predicting therapeutic surgery during clinical follow-up in AASW patients with unclear physical examination findings and in whom immediate surgical decisions cannot be made.

Abstract
Purpose This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic value of the different Complete blood count-derived systemic inflammation indexes, including neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), and neutrophil to lymphocyte × platelet ratio (NLPR) in differential diagnosing the chronic calculus cholecystitis (CCC) and the acute calculus cholecystitis (ACC), as well as determining the severity of ACC. Patients and Methods 105 CCC and 88 ACC patients were enrolled. NLR, PLR, SII, and NLPR were evaluated in both cohorts as well as in different severity levels of ACC. The severity of ACC was determined based on the Tokyo Guidelines. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and Univariate/multivariate regression analyses were conducted. Results The levels of NLR, PLR, SII, and NLPR were significantly higher in the ACC group compared to the CCC group. The optimal cutoff values for NLR, PLR, SII, and NLPR were determined to be 3.89, 144.7, 896.8, and 0.031 respectively. NLR>3.89 demonstrates the highest predictive capability with an AUC of 0.801 and a sensitivity of 72.73%. Multivariate analysis showed that NLR>3.89 (OR: 4.169, p = 0.004) and NLPR>0.031 (OR: 4.304, p = 0.005) were dominant in distinguishing ACC from CCC. In ACC patients, the levels of NLR, SII, and NLPR were significantly higher in the Moderate to Severe-degree ACC (MS-ACC) group than in Mild-Degree ACC (M-ACC). NLPR > 0.044 exhibited the highest predictive ability with an AUC of 0.778 and a specificity of 91.67%. Multivariate analysis showed that NLR>6.399 (OR: 10.308, p = 0.000) was a possible independent prognostic factor for accessing the severity of ACC. Conclusion Systemic inflammation indexes can be useful in predicting the risk of ACC and MS-ACC. NLR demonstrates the best distinguishing power and sensitivity for distinguishing ACC from CCC, while NLPR shows the best predictive power and specificity for predicting the severity of ACC.

Abstract
Introduction Hematologic biomarkers of inflammation may serve as valuable adjuncts in clinical practice, aiding in several aspects such as differential diagnosis, prognostic assessment for patient stratification and monitoring the efficacy of antimicrobial therapy. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of Neutrophil to Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR), Platelet to Lymphocyte Ratio (PLR), Lymphocyte to Monocyte Ratio (LMR), and Systemic Inflammatory Index (SII) in predicting bacterial sexually transmitted infections (STI). Methods This prospective study was conducted in the north-west region of Romania and included patients from several medical special units such as dermatology, obstetrics-gynecology, urology, and general practice. The study group comprised patients with a high suspicion of STI, while the control group consisted of healthy subjects. Quantitative data are presented as medians (interquartile ranges). Results The median values of SII, NLR, and SIRI were higher in the group of subjects with sexually transmitted diseases compared to the control group [604.06 (432.36 - 880.02) vs. 556.89 (388.63 - 874.19); 2.61 (1.57 - 3.3) vs. 2.29 (1.66 - 3.26); and 0.95 (0.53 - 1.52) vs. 0.89 (0.67 - 1.34)]. Regarding PLR, the median values were lower in the group of subjects with sexually transmitted diseases compared to the control group [138.1 (99.19 - 169.6) vs. 140.65 (117 - 190.32)]. As for LMR, the median values were equal between the two groups [4.64 (3.74 - 6.11) vs. 4.64 (3.75 - 5.45)]. Nevertheless, the differences did not reach the significance level. Conclusion Our study suggests that inflammatory biomarkers might aid in detecting bacterial STIs, but their significance was not statistically confirmed. Further research on alternative laboratory tests is needed for improved STI diagnosis and management.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Inflammatory markers such as neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) have shown promise in predicting mortality in various types of cancer. The purpose of this study was to assess NLR, PLR, and SII in predicting 30-day mortality and overall survival (OS) among surgically treated patients with spinal metastasis. METHODS This was a retrospective study including 153 patients who underwent surgery for spinal metastasis between 2012 and 2022. Electronic medical records were manually reviewed, and NLR, PLR, and SII were calculated from preoperative neutrophil, platelet, and lymphocyte counts. Receiver operating characteristic curves with areas under the curve were generated to determine cutoff values. Logistic regression was used to determine the odds ratios (ORs) for 30-day mortality. The Kaplan-Meier method and Cox regression were used to determine the hazard ratio (HR) for OS limited to 5 years postoperatively. RESULTS Preoperative cutoff values were as follows: NLR > 10.2, PLR > 260, and SII > 2900. Overall, 35.9% (55/153) of patients had elevated NLR, 45.7% (70/153) had elevated PLR, and 30.7% (47/153) had elevated SII. The overall 30-day mortality was 8.5% (13/153). After controlling for confounders such as performance status and primary tumor type, high NLR (OR 5.20, 95% CI 1.21-22.28; p = 0.026) and SII (OR 4.92, 95% CI 1.17-20.63; p = 0.029) were associated with increased odds of 30-day postoperative mortality. The median OS time in the study population was 26 months (95% CI 12-40 months). After controlling for confounders such as Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group status, primary tumor, and hypoalbuminemia, high NLR was associated with shorter OS (HR 2.23, 95% CI 1.48-3.97; p = 0.003). CONCLUSIONS High preoperative NLR and SII were independently associated with 30-day postoperative mortality in this study. Elevated NLR was also found to be associated with shorter OS. The prognostic role of these metrics warrants further investigation.

Abstract
Background A new non-invasive biomarker, the Systemic Immune-Inflammation Index (SII), has been proven to have prognostic value in multiple cancers. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to investigate the prognostic and clinical pathological significance of SII in urothelial carcinoma. Methods A comprehensive search was conducted across multiple databases, including PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane Library, and CNKI. The quality of the included studies was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS). Hazard ratios (HR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated to evaluate the prognostic value of SII before treatment on survival outcomes, and odds ratios (OR) with 95%CI were used to assess the correlation between SII before treatment and clinical pathological features. Results This meta-analysis included a total of 10 studies (11 datasets) with 6,333 patients. The pooled analysis showed that high SII before surgery was significantly associated with poor survival outcomes in patients with urothelial carcinoma, including overall survival (OS) (HR=1.55, 95%CI 1.24-1.95, p<0.001), cancer-specific survival (CSS) (HR=2.74, 95%CI 1.67-4.49, p<0.001), recurrence-free survival (RFS) (HR=2.74, 95%CI 1.67-4.49, p<0.001), and progression-free survival (PFS) (HR=1.66, 95%CI 1.36-2.02, p<0.001). In addition, patients with elevated preoperative SII values were more likely to have adverse pathological features, including larger tumor size and advanced pathological T stage (p<0.001). Conclusion These findings suggest a significant association between high SII levels before treatment and poor survival outcomes, as well as certain clinical pathological features, in patients with urothelial carcinoma.

Abstract
BACKGROUND We combined the metabolic features of 18F-FDG-PET/CT and hematological inflammatory indicators to establish a predictive model of the outcomes of patients with locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (LA-NSCLC) receiving concurrent chemoradiotherapy. RESULTS A predictive nomogram was developed based on sex, CEA, systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), mean SUV (SUVmean), and total lesion glycolysis (TLG). The nomogram presents nice discrimination that yielded an AUC of 0.76 (95% confidence interval: 0.66-0.86) to predict 1-year PFS, with a sensitivity of 63.6%, a specificity of 83.3%, a positive predictive value of 83.7%, and a negative predictive value of 62.9% in the training set. The calibration curves and DCA suggested that the nomogram had good calibration and fit, as well as promising clinical effectiveness in the training set. In addition, survival analysis indicated that patients in the low-risk group had a significantly longer mPFS than those in the high-risk group (16.8 months versus 8.4 months, P < 0.001). Those results were supported by the results in the internal and external test sets. CONCLUSIONS The newly constructed predictive nomogram model presented promising discrimination, calibration, and clinical applicability and can be used as an individualized prognostic tool to facilitate precision treatment in clinical practice.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to investigate the predictive value of inflammation parameters and indices measured in the first trimester for the detection of preeclampsia. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this retrospective analysis, we examined the medical records of 276 eligible pregnancies at a tertiary referral center from 2022 to 2023. The cases were categorized into the Control group (n = 171), the Mild Preeclampsia group (n = 63), and the Severe Preeclampsia group (n = 42). We examined the demographic characteristics and perinatal outcomes of all participants. Additionally, we analyzed laboratory parameters, including neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), systemic immune inflammation index (SII) (neutrophil*platelet/lymphocyte), systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) (neutrophil*monocyte/lymphocyte), pan-immune inflammation value (PIV) (neutrophil*platelet*monocyte/lymphocyte), and the β-hCG to PAPP-A ratio in the first trimester. Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analysis was conducted to identify the optimal cut-off levels for inflammatory markers in predicting preeclampsia. RESULTS SIRI and PIV exhibited statistical significance in differentiating between the preeclampsia and control groups for predicting preeclampsia. The determined cut-off value for SIRI was 1.5, providing a sensitivity of 56.2% and a specificity of 55.6% (p = 0.012). Likewise, the cut-off value for PIV was 394.4, with a sensitivity of 55.2% and a specificity of 55% (p = 0.013). NLR, PLR, MLR, SII, and β-hCG to PAPP-A ratio could not predict preeclampsia. CONCLUSIONS This study suggests that SIRI and PIV hold promise as potential tools for predicting the risk of preeclampsia during the first trimester.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Many studies show that settings of severe inflammatory stress might be responsible for changes in circulating blood cells count. Effective inflammation indices are created calculating the quantitative relationship between these cells. No previous studies have been proposed on hemodialysis patients exploring the association between arteriovenous graft (AVG) stenosis and systemic inflammation markers, such as Neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and systemic-immune-inflammation index (SII). METHODS Patients undergone surgery for AVG creation in a 2-year period are examined. Examining their full blood count, we have established the value of inflammatory indices (NLR, PLR, SII) and we have compared their mean values in patients who have developed significant stenosis or not. Finally, we have considered the connection between those values and stenosis onset and recurrence in AVG. RESULTS Fifty-two patients are included in the study [male: 40%, mean age 70 ± 15 years (range 55-86)]. We have found out there is not statistical significance in preoperative values of inflammatory index (NLR p 0.33, PLR p 0.15, SII p 0.98) Otherwise NLR and SII indices were statistically significant 3 months after surgery (NLR 2.04 ± 0.98 vs 3.91 ± 2.10, p < 0.001; SII 415.32 ± 255.15 vs 636.91 ± 349.01, p 0.014). CONCLUSIONS Increased post-operative values of NLR and SII have proved a strong association with AVG outflow stenosis onset and recurrence.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate System Inflammation Response Index (SIRI) and Systemic Immune Inflammation Index (SII), which are the inflammatory indices, for the prediction of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in the first trimester. METHODS This was a prospective observational study conducted in a tertiary center from April 2023 to September 2023. Ninety-four pregnant women with gestational diabetes and 107 healthy pregnant women were included. The two groups were compared according to first-trimester SIRI and SII values. A receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was performed to determine the optimal cut-off levels of SII and SIRI in predicting GDM. RESULTS Significantly higher first-trimester SII and SIRI values were present in the gestational diabetes group (P < 0.001). Optimal cut-off values in the prediction of gestational diabetes were found to be 1.58 (area under the curve [AUC] 0.71, 67% sensitivity, 65% specificity, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.64-0.78, P < 0.001) and 875 (AUC 0.70, 66% sensitivity, 65% specificity, 95% CI 0.63-0.77, P < 0.001) for SIRI and SII, respectively. Neutrophil counts, mean platelet volume (MPW), neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and red cell distribution width (RDW) were significantly higher in the GDM group (P < 0.001, P = 0.02, P = 0.01, P < 0.01, respectively). CONCLUSION Novel inflammatory indices SII and SIRI may be useful in the prediction of GDM in the first trimester, but their utility in the prediction of insulin requirement is questionable. They may be used as additional tools in routine clinical practice.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Depression is associated with both environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) and inflammation. However, whether systemic inflammation mediates the ETS-depression relationship is unclear. METHODS We analyzed 19,612 participants from the 2009-2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (representing approximately 206,284,711 USA individuals), utilizing data of depressive symptoms (assessed by Patient Health Questionnaire-9), blood cotinine level (an ETS biomarker), dietary inflammatory index (DII, assessed by 24-h dietary recall) and inflammation, represented by immune-inflammation index (SII) and systemic inflammation response index (SIRI). RESULTS Weighted multivariable logistic regression showed that a higher blood cotinine level is significantly associated with a higher depressive symptoms risk (OR = 1.79, 1.35-2.38). After adjusting for covariates, the effect in smokers (OR = 1.220, 95 % CI: 1.140-1.309) is larger than that in non-smokers (OR = 1.150, 95 % CI: 1.009-1.318). Compared to the lowest level, depressive symptoms risks in participants with the highest level of SII, SIRI and DII are 19 % (OR = 1.19, 1.05-1.35), 15 % (OR = 1.15, 1.01-1.31) and 88 % (OR = 1.88, 1.48-2.39) higher, respectively. Weighted linear regression demonstrated positive correlations of SII (β = 0.004, 0.001-0.006), SIRI (β = 0.009, 0.005-0.012) and DII (β = 0.213, 0.187-0.240) with blood cotinine level. Restricted cubic splines model showed a linear dose-response relationship between blood cotinine and depressive symptoms (Pnon-linear = 0.410), with decreasing risk for lower DII. And SII and SIRI respectively mediate 0.21 % and 0.1 % of the association between blood cotinine and depressive symptoms. LIMITATION Cross-sectional design, and lack of medication data for depression. CONCLUSIONS Positive association of ETS (blood cotinine) with depressive symptoms risk is partly mediated by systemic inflammation, and anti-inflammatory diet could be beneficial.

Abstract
Objectives Convulsive status epilepticus (CSE) is a major subtype of status epilepticus that is known to be closely associated with systemic inflammation. Some important inflammatory biomarkers of this disorder include the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), systemic immune inflammation index (SII), and pan-immune inflammation value (PIV). This study aimed to determine the NLR, PLR, MLR, SII, and PIV levels before and after treatment in adult patients with CSE and investigated the relationship of these parameters with disease severity. Methods This retrospective study analyzed data from 103 adult patients with CSE and 103 healthy controls. The neutrophil, monocyte, platelet, and lymphocyte counts, as well as the NLR, PLR, MLR, SII, and PIV, were compared in adult patients with CSE during acute seizures (within 2 h of admission) and after treatment relief (1-2 weeks of complete seizure control). Furthermore, multivariate linear regression analysis investigated the relationship between NLR, PLR, MLR, SII, and PIV with the Status Epilepticus Severity Score (STESS). Results The data revealed significant differences (p < 0.05) in neutrophils, monocytes, lymphocytes, NLR, PLR, MLR, SII, and PIV between adult patients with CSE during acute seizures and after treatment relief. The average neutrophil count was high during acute seizures in the patient group and decreased after remission. In contrast, the average lymphocyte count was lower after remission (p < 0.05). Furthermore, significant differences (p < 0.05) were observed in monocytes, lymphocytes, platelets, NLR, PLR, MLR, and PIV levels between adult patients with CSE after remission and the healthy control group. Multivariate linear regression analysis showed no significant correlation between NLR, PLR, MLR, SII, and PIV with STESS. Conclusion The results of this study indicated that adult patients with CSE experienced a transient systemic inflammatory response during acute seizures, which gradually returned to baseline levels after remission. However, there was a lack of robust clinical evidence correlating the severity of adult CSE and systemic inflammatory response.

Abstract
Background Tyrosine kinase inhibitors have been used to treat hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but the outcomes of patients under treatment vary. Since the roles of clinicopathological aspects and markers of chronic inflammation/immune homeostasis in the outcome of HCC patients treated with sorafenib are still unclear, these were the aims of this study. Methods Patients with alcohol-induced and/or hepatitis C virus (HCV)-induced HCC (n = 182) uniformly treated with sorafenib were included in the study. Baseline clinicopathological aspects of patients were computed from the medical records. The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR), systemic inflammation response index (SIRI), and systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) were obtained from the hematological exam performed before the administration of sorafenib. Overall survival (OS) was analyzed using Kaplan-Meier probabilities, log-rank test, and univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazard ratio (HR) analyses. Results In multivariate analysis, alpha-foetoprotein (AFP) level and Child-Pugh score were predictors of OS. Patients with AFP levels higher than 157 ng/mL and Child-Pugh B or C had 1.40 (95% confidence interval (CI): 1.03 - 1.91, P = 0.03) and 1.64 (95% CI: 1.07 - 2.52, P = 0.02) more chances of evolving to death than the remaining patients, respectively. NLR, PLR, LMR, SIRI, and SII did not alter the OS of HCC patients. Conclusions AFP level and Child-Pugh score act as independent prognostic factors in patients with alcohol and/or HCV-induced HCC treated with sorafenib, but markers of chronic inflammation/immune homeostasis seem not to alter the outcome of patients with HCC induced by alcohol and/or HCV.

Abstract
The identification of novel, easily measurable biomarkers of inflammation might enhance the diagnosis and management of immunological diseases (IDs). We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate an emerging biomarker derived from the full blood count, the systemic inflammation index (SII), in patients with IDs and healthy controls. We searched Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science from inception to 12 December 2023 for relevant articles and evaluated the risk of bias and the certainty of evidence using the Joanna Briggs Checklist and the Grades of Recommendation, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation Working Group system, respectively. In 16 eligible studies, patients with IDs had a significantly higher SII when compared to controls (standard mean difference, SMD = 1.08, 95% CI 0.75 to 1.41, p < 0.001; I2 = 96.2%, p < 0.001; moderate certainty of evidence). The pooled area under the curve (AUC) for diagnostic accuracy was 0.85 (95% CI 0.82-0.88). In subgroup analysis, the effect size was significant across different types of ID, barring systemic lupus erythematosus (p = 0.20). In further analyses, the SII was significantly higher in ID patients with active disease vs. those in remission (SMD = 0.81, 95% CI 0.34-1.27, p < 0.001; I2 = 93.6%, p < 0.001; moderate certainty of evidence). The pooled AUC was 0.74 (95% CI 0.70-0.78). Our study suggests that the SII can effectively discriminate between subjects with and without IDs and between ID patients with and without active disease. Prospective studies are warranted to determine whether the SII can enhance the diagnosis of IDs in routine practice. (PROSPERO registration number: CRD42023493142).

Abstract
Background Lupus nephritis (LN) is one of the most severe manifestations of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). There are increased studies examining the role of different markers that would facilitate diagnosis, LN activity monitoring, relapse occurrence, and the right time to introduce maintenance therapy. We aimed to examine the importance of determining the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR), systemic immuneinflammatory index (SII) and systemic inflammatory response index (SIRI) in LN, comparing their significance with other standard parameters of active disease. Methods The clinical examination included 66 patients (34 with active and 32 with LN in remission) and 23 healthy controls. The investigated parameters were CRP, CBC, creatinine, albumin, GFR, C3, C4, ANA, anti-ds DNA Ab, in urine: sediment analysis, SLEDAI/r, proteinuria 24h and Up/cre. We determined the derived markers: NLR, PLR, SIRI, and SII and their correlation with other parameters of active disease.

Abstract
Background There are many studies regarding the use of systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) to help predict oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) prognosis, but findings have been inconsistent. The present meta-analysis was conducted to determine whether SII could contribute to predicting OSCC prognosis. Methods PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library and Web of Science databases were thoroughly searched from their inceptions through August 20, 2023. The role of SII in predicting OSCC prognosis was determined through combined hazard ratios (HRs) with relevant 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Correlations of SII with clinicopathological characteristics of OSCC patients were analyzed based on combined odds ratios (ORs) with 95% CIs. Results This meta-analysis utilized 11 articles in total, involving 3,464 patients. According to the results, an elevated SII was markedly associated with dismal overall survival (OS) (HR=1.85, 95%CI=1.48-2.29, p<0.001) and poor disease-free survival (DFS) (HR=1.77, 95%CI=1.20-2.61, p=0.004) of OSCC. Moreover, a higher SII was markedly correlated with stage T3-T4 (OR=2.47, 95%CI=1.40-4.37, p=0.002), TNM stage III-IV (OR=2.29, 95%CI=1.53-3.44, p<0.001), and low differentiation (OR=1.74, 95%CI=1.25-2.43, p=0.001). Conclusion According to the present meta-analysis, an increased SII is significantly associated with dismal OS and DFS, advanced tumor stage and poor differentiation in OSCC. SII could be a potential and important biomarker for clinical management and predicting the prognosis of patients with OSCC. Abstract
OBJECTIVES In this prospective cross-sectional clinical study, we aimed to determine the efficiency of preoperative hematological markers namely SIRI (systemic inflammatory response index) and SII (systemic inflammatory index) for renal cell cancer to predict the possibility of postoperative metastases. METHODS Istanbul Education and Research Hospital, Clinic of Urology and Medical Oncology in the clinic between the dates of June 2022 to 2023 February, a diagnosis of renal cell cancer by surgical or medical oncology units imported into the treatment planning of 72 patients were included in the study. All cases with diagnoses of renal cell carcinoma were searched from hospital records. Patients with secondary malignancy, hematological or rheumatological disorders or ones with recent blood product transfusion or diagnoses of infection within the 1-month-time of diagnoses were excluded for data analyses. The data within complete blood counts (CBC) analyzed just before the time of renal biopsy or surgery were studied for SIRI and SII calculations. Twenty-two metastatic and 50 non-metastatic RCC patients were included. SIRI and SII values were compared among groups to seek change of values in case of metastasis and in non-metastatic patients a cut-off value were sought to indicate malignancy before pathological diagnosis. RESULTS Mean age of non-metastatic RCC patients were 60.12+/-11.55 years and metastatic RCC patients were 60.25+/-11.72. Histological sub-types of the RCC specimens were clear cell (72%), chromophobe cell (17%), papillary cell (7%) and others (4%). Median SIRI values for non-metastatic and metastatic groups were 1.26 and 2.1 (mean+/-S.D. 1.76 +/-1.9 and 3.12+/-4.22 respectively (p < 0.05). Median SII values for non-metastatic and metastatic groups were 566 and 1434 (mean+/-S.D. 870 +/-1019 and 1537+/-917) respectively (p < 0.001). AUC for detection of metastasis were 0.809 for SII and 0.737 for SIRI. CONCLUSIONS SIRI and SII indexes seem to show a moderate efficiency to show metastases in RCC.

Abstract
Introduction Inflammation plays a significant role in gallstones formation. The prognosis of various illnesses was initially predicted using the systemic immune-inflammatory index (SII). We performed an updated analysis on the impact of SII and gallstones. Methods To investigate the connection between the SII and gallstones occurrence in a sample of individuals from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database from 2017 to 2020, we employed logistic regression analysis, subgroup analysis, and smoothing curve fitting. Results In our study, an aggregate of 4,950 individuals over the age of 20 were enrolled, and 429 of them claimed to have gallstones. A fully adjusted model showed that the third and fourth quartiles of SII was parallel associated with gallstones in adults (OR = 2.43, 95% CI = 1.39-4.26; OR = 2.97, 95% CI = 1.72-5.16) under 50 years. Subgroup analysis and smoothed curve fitting provided evidence in favor of this finding. Conclusion According to our research, gallstones are more likely to occur in US adults younger than 50 years.

Abstract
To investigate how effectively systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and Monocyte-to-HDL-cholesterol ratio (MHR) predict the development of early cardio-cerebral complications in elderly patients who have experienced acute severe carbon monoxide poisoning (ASCMP). A retrospective analysis was conducted on 77 elderly patients with ASCMP admitted to the emergency department of Harrison International Peace Hospital from November 2020 to March 2022. The prevalence of early-onset complications among the 77 individuals was 38.96%. Binary Logistics regression analysis showed that SII and MHR were independent influencing factors of early cardio-cerebral complications in elderly patients with ASCMP. The complication group had a longer length of stay, a greater mortality rate, and a higher incidence of delayed encephalopathy after acute carbon monoxide poisoning (p < .05) than the non-complication group. The area under the curve (AUC) of SII and MHR in predicting early cardio-cerebral complications in elderly patients with ASCMP were 0.724 and 0.796, respectively, with 80.0% and 63.3% sensitivity, and 61.7% and 87.2% specificity. The incidence of early cardio-cerebral complications in elderly patients who had ASCMP is high and the prognosis is poor. SII and MHR can be utilized as independent predictors of early cardio-cerebral complications in elderly patients with ASCMP, allowing doctors to diagnose and treat cardio-cerebral complications earlier and improve prognosis.

Abstract
Aim: The association between the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and serum Klotho concentrations (pg/ml) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) has not been elucidated. The purpose of this study was to clarify the relationship between the SII and serum Klotho concentrations in RA patients. Methods: All data come from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database in the United States, which included 982 RA patients (age range: 40 to 79 years). The measurement data of the SII and serum Klotho are all from the NHANES mobile examination centre. We constructed a multivariate linear regression model to evaluate the association between the SII and serum Klotho levels in RA patients and conducted a subgroup analysis to test the stability of the statistical results. Results: Multivariate linear regression results indicated a negative linear relationship between the SII and serum Klotho concentrations in RA patients (β = -6.33, 95% CI [confidence interval]: -10.15 to -2.53). Compared to the quartile 1 group, the quartile 4 group was associated with significantly lower (P<0.001) serum Klotho concentrations (β = -120.93, 95% CI: -174.84 to -67.02). Compared with the quartile 1 group, with the increase in the SII, the β value showed a decreasing trend (P trend < 0.001). The subgroup analysis showed that none of the covariates affected the stability of these results (all P for interaction ≥ 0.05). Conclusion: There is a significant negative linear association between the SII and serum Klotho concentrations in RA patients. The SII can serve as a predictive indicator of serum Klotho concentrations in RA patients, and Klotho may be a potential anti-inflammatory target for RA treatment.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To determine if a stricter criterion for paediatric hearing aid fitting for proximity of fit-to-target of <3 dB root-mean-square (RMS) error produces better audibility and outcomes compared to the current <5 dB criterion, and to examine the relationship between aided audibility and RMS error by degree of hearing loss. DESIGN We evaluated the influence of unaided hearing level on the relationship between RMS error and aided audibility. We assessed the effect of RMS error category (<3, 3-5, >5 dB) on aided audibility, speech recognition, expressive vocabulary, and morphosyntax. STUDY SAMPLE The study included 2314 hearing aid verification measurements from 307 children with hearing aids. RESULTS Children who met a <3 dB criterion had higher aided audibility than children who met no criterion (>5 dB error). Results showed no differences in speech recognition or vocabulary by error category, but children with <3 dB error demonstrated better morphosyntax than children with 3-5 and >5 dB RMS error. CONCLUSIONS Fittings that are close to prescriptive targets provide a more positive outcome for children with hearing aids. Using probe microphone measures to adjust hearing aids to within 3 dB may benefit language abilities in children.

Abstract
Background Validated predictors of sensitivity or resistance to Bevacizumab (Bev) are not available, and Inflammatory Indexes (IIs) has been reported to be useful prognostic factors in various malignant solid tumours, including metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). Objectives To explore the prognostic value of IIs in mCRC patients treated with first-line chemotherapy plus Bev. Design One hundred and eighty-two patients diagnosed with mCRC and treated with first line chemotherapy plus Bev were considered for this prospective non-pharmacological study. Neutrophil, lymphocyte, platelet, aspartate transaminase (AST) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) tests were carried out at baseline and before each treatment cycle, according to clinical practice. Methods Pre-treatment Systemic Immune-inflammation Index (SII), Colon Inflammatory Index (CII) and Aspartate aminotransferase-Lymphocyte Ratio Index (ALRI) were evaluated to assess a correlation with progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). Results In the overall population, PFS and OS were lower in patients with high SII (HR 1.64, p = 0.006 and HR 1.75, p = 0.004, respectively) and high ALRI (HR 2.13, p = 0.001 and HR 1.76, p = 0.02, respectively), but no difference was detected according to CII value. The multivariate analysis confirmed both SII and ALRI as independent prognostic factors for PFS (HR 1.64 and 2.82, respectively) and OS (HR 1.65 and 2.12, respectively). Conclusion Our results demonstrate and confirm that IIs, and in particular SII and ALRI, are easy to measure prognostic markers for patient candidates to first line chemotherapy plus Bev for mCRC.

Abstract
Introduction The systemic inflammation index (SII) might serve as an indicator of the equilibrium between the inflammatory and immune responses. The aim of the study was to determine the clinical value and prognostic significance of SII in the cohort of multiple myeloma (MM) patients treated with a regimen of pomalidomide and dexamethasone (Pd). Material and methods This retrospective, real-life study included patients who received a Pd regimen in our centre between November 2018 and July 2022. The systemic inflammation index was calculated from peripheral blood counts of platelets, neutrophils, and lymphocytes collected shortly before commencement of Pd treatment using the equation: SII = N × P/L, where N, P, and L are the respective counts per litre of peripheral blood for neutrophils, platelets, and lymphocytes. Results The study group consisted of 54 patients. Most patients received Pd as the third (38.9%) or fourth (37.0%) line of treatment. The median number of completed treatment cycles was 5 (IQR: 1-12). The median progression-free survival (PFS) was 6.8 months and overall survival (OS) 14.8 months. High SII (> 374) was an independent prognostic factor for PFS (HR = 3.0, 95% CI: 1.4-6.3, p < 0.01) and OS (HR = 2.2, 95% CI: 1.0-4.6, p = 0.04). In the low SII group, the respective median PFS and OS values were 9.6 and 21.7 months, compared to 2.6 (p = 0.018) and 5.5 months (p = 0.035) in the high SII group. Conclusions The systemic inflammation index has prognostic significance in MM patients treated with Pd. A high SII predicts a poorer outcome in pretreated MM patients undergoing Pd treatment evaluation. As such, it may well be a key factor for guiding subsequent treatment decisions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of serum inflammatory biomarkers in salivary gland tumors with dubious results following cytological analysis. METHODS A retrospective analysis of 239 cases following surgery between January 2011 and June 2022 was performed. Receiver Operating Characteristic curves were drawn and areas under the curves were computed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of the inflammatory biomarkers (SII, SIRI, PLR, and NLR). Optimal cut-offs for each marker were determined by maximizing the Youden index. RESULTS Analysis showed that among the major biomarkers examined, SIRI performed an AUC of 0.77. The best SIRI cut-off was 0.94 with an accuracy of 79.9%. The accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of cytological analysis were 77.8%, 59.6%, and 90.7% respectively. By combining SIRI with cytological analysis we demonstrated an increase in sensitivity to 82.8%. CONCLUSIONS Inflammatory biomarkers could be evaluated to support the diagnosis and treatment of salivary gland tumors in difficult cases.

Abstract
Purpose This study investigated the prognostic performance of the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) in patients with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) in Lagos, Nigeria. Methods We performed a secondary analysis of the data of 91 women who had treatment for EOC between 2009 and 2018. The associations between pretreatment SII and survivals were tested. Results Pretreatment SII more than 610.2 was a significant independent predictor of reduced progression-free survival (HR = 2.68; 95% CI, 1.17 to 6.09) while SII greater than 649.0 was a significant independent predictor of reduced 3-year overall survival (HR = 2.01; 95% CI, 1.01 to 3.99). Conclusion These findings suggest that high SII may be a potential prognostic indicator and useful marker for more intensive surveillance and design of personalized treatment in patients with EOC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Among malignant neoplasm patients taking immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), it remains unknown how the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) affects their clinical prognosis. We therefore performed the present meta-analysis by collecting the most recent data, so that SII's prognostic value among ICI-receiving carcinoma patients could be fully clarified. METHODS For the prognostic significance evaluation of SII in ICI-receiving carcinoma patients, the combined hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were estimated. RESULTS The number of studies enrolled in the present meta-analysis totaled 17, where 1,990 patients were involved. Among the ICI-treated carcinoma patients, a high SII was linked significantly to inferior overall survival (OS) (HR = 2.62, 95% CI = 1.76-3.90), as well as progression-free survival (PFS) (HR = 2.09, 95% CI = 1.48-2.95) (p both <.001). Contrastively, SII was linked insignificantly to the age (OR = 1.08, 95% CI = 0.39-2.98, p = .881), gender (OR = 1.01, 95% CI = 0.59-1.73, p = .959), lymph node (LN) metastasis (OR = 1.41, 95% CI = 0.92-2.17, p = .117), or metastatic site quantity (OR = 1.49, 95% CI = 0.90-2.46, p = .119). CONCLUSION There are prominent associations of elevated SII with the poor survival outcomes (both short- and long-terms) among the ICIreceiving carcinoma patients. SII has potential as a reliable and cheap prognostic biomarker in the clinic for carcinoma patients receiving ICIs.

Abstract
Background and Objectives: To assess the potential prognostic role of the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) in predicting oncological outcomes in a cohort of patients treated with radical cystectomy (RC). Materials and Methods: From 2016 to 2022, a retrospective monocentric study enrolled 193 patients who were divided into two groups based on their SII levels using the optimal cutoff determined by the Youden index. The SII was obtained from a preoperative blood test approximately one month before RC. Univariable and multivariable logistic regression analyses were conducted to investigate the capacity of SII to predict lymph node invasion (N), advanced pT stage (pT3/pT4), and locally advanced condition at the time of RC. Multivariable Cox regression models adjusted for preoperative and postoperative features were used to analyze the prognostic effect of SII on recurrence-free survival (RFS), cancer-specific survival (CSS), and overall survival (OS). Results: The optimal cutoff value of the SII was 640.27. An elevated SII was seen in 113 (58.5%) patients. Using the multivariable preoperative logistic regression models, an elevated SII was correlated with nodal invasion (N; p = 0.03), advanced pT stage (p = 0.04), and locally advanced disease (p = 0.005), with enhancement of AUCs for predicting locally advanced disease (p = 0.04). In multivariable Cox regression models that considered preoperative clinicopathologic factors, an elevated SII was linked to poorer RFS (p = 0.005) and OS (p = 0.01). Moreover, on multivariable Cox regression postoperative models, a high SII was linked to RFS (p = 0.004) and to OS (p = 0.01). Conclusions: In this monocentric retrospective study, higher preoperative SII values predicted worse oncological outcomes in patients with bladder cancer (BCa) who underwent RC.

Abstract
Background The systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) is a cost-efficient indicator for carcinoma prognosis. However, its utility in urothelial carcinoma (UC) prognosis is disputed. This meta-analysis aims to assess SII's prognostic value in UC. Methods A thorough search of databases including PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Scopus, was conducted to find studies until January 11, 2023. Eligibility criteria were applied to select studies. Hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were extracted from selected studies and compiled in a meta-analysis to gauge SII's association with survival outcomes such as overall survival (OS), cancer-specific survival (CSS), recurrence-free survival (RFS), and progression-free survival (PFS). Results This analysis includes 19 studies with 12505 UC patients. It was found that high SII significantly correlated with worse OS in UC patients (HR 1.430, 95% CI 1.237-1.653, P<0.001). High SII values also linked with poorer CSS (HR 1.913, 95% CI 1.473-2.485, P<0.001), RFS (HR 1.240, 95% CI 1.097-1.403, P=0.001), and PFS (HR 1.844, 95% CI 1.488-2.284, P<0.001) compared to low SII values. Subgroup analysis revealed SII's consistent prognostic value in UC across races, carcinoma types, sample sizes, and SII cut-off values, suggesting its potential as a prognostic indicator in UC patients. Conclusion Current evidence suggests SII as a promising, cost-efficient predictor in UC patients. This meta-analysis indicates SII's potential as a valuable prognostic tool in UC patients. Abstract
Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounting for the vast majority. In recent years, the interaction between inflammation and tumorigenesis has become the focus of attention, which has also confirmed the importance of inflammatory markers such as C-reactive protein (CRP) in prognosis. In this study, we explored the effects of CRP, systemic inflammatory immune index (SII), and monocyte/lymphocyte ratio (MLR) on the prognosis of patients with advanced NSCLC. We conducted a retrospective study of 274 patients suffering from stage III/IV NSCLC. Among them, 224 patients served as the training set and 50 patients served as the validation set. The independent factors affecting PFS (Progression-Free Survival) and OS (Overall Survival) in the patients were analyzed by Cox regression. Our results showed that CPR (HR=1.691, P=0.004), SlI (HR=1.960, P<0.001), MLR (HR=1.578, P=0.003), CEA (HR=1.845, P=0.006), NSE (HR=2.138, P=0.003) and adrenal metastasis (HR=2.896, P<0.003) were independent factors affecting the PFS of NSCLC patients. SII (HR=1.645, P=0.004), CEA (HR=2.021, P=0.002) and brain metastasis (HR=2.899, P<0.001) were independent factors affecting the OS of NLSCL patients. The DCA curve demonstrated that the prediction model provided better clinical net benefit in predicting patients' 6-month PFS and 12-month OS under different threshold probabilities. DeLong test showed no significant difference between AUCs of SII and risk score (P>0.05). Compared with CEA, SII and risk score had higher predictive value for patients' 6-month PFS and 12-month OS (P<0.05). In conclusion, the results of this study indicate that serum inflammatory factor SII can be used as an independent indicator to evaluate 6-month PFS and 12-month OS in patients with advanced NSCLC, and its predictive value is similar to that of the nomogram model.

Abstract
The prediction of severity in acute calculous cholecystitis (AC) is important in therapeutic management to ensure an early recovery and prevent adverse postoperative events. We analyzed the value of the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and systemic inflammatory index (SII) to predict advanced inflammation, the risk for conversion, and postoperative complications in AC. Advanced AC was considered the cases with empyema, gangrene, perforation of the gallbladder, abscesses, or difficulties in achieving the critical view of safety. A 3-year retrospective was performed on 235 patients admitted in emergency care for AC. The NLR was superior to the PLR and SII in predicting advanced inflammation and risk for conversion. The best predictive value was found to be at an NLR "cut-off" value of >4.19, with a sensitivity of 85.5% and a specificity of 66.9% (AUC = 0.824). The NLR, SII, and TG 13/18 correlate well with postoperative complications of Clavien-Dindo grade IV (p < 0.001 for all variables) and sepsis. For predicting early postoperative sepsis, TG 13/18 grading >2 and NLR > 8.54 show the best predicting power (AUC = 0.931; AUC = 0.888, respectively), although not significantly higher than that of the PLR and SII. The NLR is a useful biomarker in assessing the severity of inflammation in AC. The SII and PLR may be useful in the prediction of systemic inflammatory response.

Abstract
Predicting MYC and BCL2 double-expressor lymphoma prognosis using the system immune-inflammatory index (SII) and prognostic nutritional index (PNI) (DEL). From January 2015 to December 2021, 281 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) wax blocks were used to make tissue chips. Screening double expressor lymphoma (DEL) instances involved immunocytochemistry and fluorescence in situ hybridization. Academic analysis used clinicopathological characteristics and follow-up data. SII, PNI, and DEL prognosis were correlated using univariate and multivariate cox regression analysis. The median age of 78 DEL patients is 60 (range: 43-74). SII and PNI cut-off values of 603.5, 3.07, and 144 predict PFS and OS well. Lower SII is associated with longer PFS (HR for SII = 0.34, 95% CI 0.15-0.76, P = 0.006; HR for NLR = 0.46, 95% CI 0.22-0.99, P = 0.048; HR for PLR = 0.39, 95% CI 0.17-0.94, P = 0.025; LMR = 0.39, 95%, CI 0.17-0.94, P = 0.025) and OS (HR for SII = 0.16, 95% CI 0.05-0.51, P = 0.005; HR for PNI = 0.20, 95% CI 0.06-0.62, P = 0.002). SII and PNI are promising predictors for twofold expressor DLBCL. Combining these increase prediction accuracy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Klotho, an anti-aging protein, has been identified to control tissue inflammatory responses. The objective of this research is to determine the linkage between soluble Klotho (S-Klotho) level and systemic immune-inflammation index (SII). METHODS Eligible participants with complete information of S-Klotho level and SII were selected from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES). Subsequently, weighted multivariate linear regression and subgroup analysis were carried out to evaluate the association. RESULTS Totally, 11,108 adults with complete data on S-Klotho level, SII and other important covariates were included in final analysis. Multivariate liner regression revealed that high level of S-Klotho was associated with low level of SII after multivariate adjustments (β=-0.08, 95%CI:-0.10- -0.05, P < 0.01). When classifying S-Klotho into tertiles, participants in S-Klotho tertile 3 (Q3) showed a decrease in SII level compared with those in the lowest tertile (Q1) (β=-45.44, 95%CI:-64.41- -26.47, P < 0.01 ). The negative associations remained significant regardless of age and gender, and varied depending on smoking status and BMI subgroups. CONCLUSION S-Klotho level was negatively related to SII after controlling for covariates. Further studies need to validate current findings and explore the fundamental mechanisms.

Abstract
Background The degree of inflammation and immune status is widely recognized to be associated with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) and is closely linked to poor postoperative survival. The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether the systemic immune-inflammatory index (SII) and the albumin bilirubin (ALBI) grade together exhibit better predictive strength compared to SII and ALBI separately in patients with ICC undergoing curative surgical resection. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on a cohort of 374 patients with histologically confirmed ICC who underwent curative surgical resection from January 2016 to January 2020 at three medical centers. The cohort was divided into a training set comprising 258 patients and a validation set consisting of 116 patients. Subsequently, the prognostic predictive abilities of three indicators, namely SII, ALBI, and SII+ALBI grade, were evaluated. Independent risk factors were identified through univariate and multivariate analyses. The identified independent risk factors were then utilized to construct a nomogram prediction model, and the predictive strength of the nomogram prediction model was assessed through Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) survival curves and calibration curves. Results Univariate analysis of the training set, consisting of 258 eligible patients with ICC, revealed that SII, ALBI, and SII+ALBI grade were significant prognostic factors for overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) (p < 0.05). Multivariate analysis revealed the independent significance of SII+ALBI grade as a risk factor for postoperative OS and RFS (p < 0.05). Furthermore, we conducted an analysis of the correlation between SII, ALBI, SII+ALBI grade, and clinical features, indicating that SII+ALBI grade exhibited stronger associations with clinical and pathological characteristics compared to SII and ALBI. We constructed a predictive model for postoperative survival in ICC based on SII+ALBI grade, as determined by the results of multivariate analysis. Evaluation of the model's predictive strength was performed through ROC survival curves and calibration curves in the training set and validation set, revealing favorable predictive performance. Conclusion The SII+ALBI grade, a novel classification based on inflammatory and immune status, serves as a reliable prognostic indicator for postoperative OS and RFS in patients with ICC.

Abstract
PURPOSE Investigate the association between the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) about the presence of postoperative pneumonia (POP) in geriatric patients with hip fractures. Compare the predictive value of these biomarkers for POP and assess their potential for early detection of POP. METHODS We retrospectively included elderly patients with hip fractures who underwent surgical treatment at our institution. POP was diagnosed according to the guidelines provided by the American Thoracic Society. We collected neutrophil, lymphocyte, and platelet counts upon admission to calculate the NLR, PLR, and SII. Receiver operating characteristic curves were utilized to establish the optimal cutoff values for each index. Multivariate logistic regression analysis and propensity score matching analysis were utilized to assess the independent association between each index and POP after adjusting for demographic, comorbidity, and surgery-related variables. RESULTS The study included a total of 1199 patients, among whom 111 cases (9.26%) developed POP. NLR exhibited the highest predictive value for POP in elderly patients with hip fractures compared to PLR and SII (AUC = 0.648, 95% CI 0.594-0.701). A high NLR, using the optimal cutoff value of 5.84, was significantly associated with an increased incidence of POP (OR = 2.24, 95% CI 1.43-3.51). This finding remained statistically significant even after propensity score matching (OR = 2.04, 95% CI 1.31-3.20). CONCLUSIONS Among the three inflammatory/immune markers considered, the NLR demonstrates the highest reliability as a predictor for POP in elderly patients with hip fractures. Therefore, it serves as a valuable tool for early identification.

Abstract
BACKGROUND peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is identified late in diabetic patients because, in the majority of cases, it is associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, resulting in little or no symptoms, or symptoms that are completely neglected. METHODS In this study were enrolled all patients over 18 years of age, with diabetes mellitus type II for more than a year with poor glycemic control, diagnosed with diabetic polyneuropathy admitted to the Diabetology Department, Emergency County Hospital of Targu Mures, Romania between January 2020 and March 2023. We divided the patients into two groups, based on the presence or absence of subclinical atherosclerosis in the lower limb, named "SA" and "non-SA". RESULTS Patients in the SA group were older (p = 0.01) and had a higher incidence of IHD (p = 0.03), history of MI (p = 0.02), and diabetic nephropathy (p = 0.01). Moreover, patients with subclinical atherosclerosis had a higher BMI (p < 0.0001) and a longer duration of diabetes (p < 0.0001). Among all patients, the systemic inflammatory markers, MLR (r = 0.331, p < 0.001), NLR (r = 0.517, p < 0.001), PLR (r = 0.296, p < 0.001), SII (r = 0.413, p < 0.001), as well as BMI (r = 0.241, p < 0.001) and HbA1C (r = 0.489, p < 0.001), demonstrated a strong positive correlation with the diabetes duration. The multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that older patients (OR: 2.58, p < 0.001), the male gender (OR: 2.30, p = 0.006), a higher baseline levels of BMI (OR: 7.71, p < 0.001), and the duration of diabetes (OR: 8.65, p < 0.001) are predictors of subclinical atherosclerosis in DN patients. Additionally, the high baseline levels of all systemic inflammatory markers (for all: p < 0.001) and poor diabetes management (OR: 10.4, p < 0.001 for HbA1C; OR: 10.78, p < 0.001 for admission glucose) are independent predictors of SA. CONCLUSIONS the inflammatory markers, NLR, MLR, PLR, and SII, being cheap and easy to collect in routine medical practice from the standard blood tests, could be an important step in predicting vascular outcomes in diabetic patients and the disease's progression, playing a key role in follow-up visits in type-2 diabetic patients and PAD patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To perform the first investigation of the role of immune-inflammatory-nutritional status (INS) on oncological outcomes in patients undergoing open radical cystectomy (ORC) for urothelial carcinoma (UC). MATERIALS AND METHODS The records of consecutive patients who underwent ORC for non-metastatic bladder cancer between 2009 and 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy, non-urothelial tumor biology, and absence of oncological follow-up were exclusion criteria. Systemic immune-inflammatory index (SII) and Prognostic Nutritional Index (PNI) values were calculated and optimal cut-off values for these were used to designate four subgroups: "high SII-high PNI", "low SII-high PNI", "low SII-low PNI", and "high SII-low PNI". The Low SII-high PNI INS group had best overall survival (OS) rate while the remainder were included in non-favorable INS group. Survival curves were constructed, and a multivariate Cox regression model was used for OS and recurrence-free survival (RFS). RESULTS After exclusions, the final cohort size was 173 patients. The mean age was 64.31 ± 8.35 and median follow-up was 21 (IQR: 9-58) months. Optimal cut-off values for SII and PNI were 1216 and 47, respectively. The favorable INS group (low SII-high PNI, n = 89) had the best OS rate (62.9%). Multivariate Cox regression analysis indicated that non-favorable INS (n = 84) was a worse independent prognostic factor for OS (HR: 1.509, 95%CI: 1.104-3.145, p = 0.001) and RFS (HR: 1.285; 95%CI: 1.009-1.636, p = 0.042). CONCLUSION Preoperative assessment of INS may be a useful prognostic panel for OS and RFS in patients who had ORC for UC.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the effect of combining the preoperative systemic immune inflammation index (SII) and T-staging to predict the prognosis of patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC). METHODS The clinical data of 94 MIBC patients who met the inclusion criteria of our hospital from September 01, 2012, to August 31, 2022, were collected. Data included sex, age, smoking history, tumour size, tumour number, pathology, P-grading, T-staging, SII, and overall survival (OS). The optimal cut-off of SII (863.62) was selected by obtaining the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Then, the samples were divided into the low-SII group (SII <863.62, 51 cases) and the high-SII group (SII ≥863.62, 43 cases). T-staging could be divided into T2 (61 cases) and T3 and higher stages (33 cases) according to the findings on depth of tumour invasion. Furthermore, the role of combined SII and T-staging for prognosis prediction was evaluated by performing Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and Cox proportional hazards modelling in the OS analysis. RESULTS MIBC patients with higher SII (≥863.62) were associated with shorter OS (p = 0.00005). Patients with more advanced T-stages had shorter OS than those with early T-stages (p = 0.00006). Furthermore, patients who had both higher SII and more advanced T-stages had markedly shorter OS (p = 0.00001). CONCLUSIONS In patients with MIBC, a higher SII and increasing T-stage indicate a worse prognosis and shorter OS. Therefore, the combined SII and T staging approach is a reliable prognostic predictor for patients with MIBC.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) has been considered as a frequent and serious consequence of intertrochanteric femoral fractures in the elderly. Several negative repercussions of DVT can be considerably mitigated by its timely recognition and treatment. The current work was aimed at exploring the factors independently predicting DVT among cases suffering from intertrochanteric femoral fractures and validate their predictive usefulness in diagnosing DVT. METHODS Between April 2017 and July 2022, clinical information from 209 cases showing preoperative DVT for femoral intertrochanteric fractures were retrospectively evaluated. In patients with femoral intertrochanteric fractures, logistic regression analysis with a backward stepwise method was adopted for detecting independent predictors for the diagnosis of preoperative DVT. Using multivariate logistic regression, a nomogram prediction model was developed and verified with the testing group. RESULTS According to multivariate logistic regression model, body mass index (BMI) (OR 0.79, 95% CI 0.63-0.99, P = 0.042), neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) (OR 7.29, 95% CI 1.53, 34.64, P = 0.0012), and systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) (OR 6.61, 95% CI 2.35, 18.59, P = 0.001) were independent predictors for DVT before surgery among cases developing intertrochanteric femoral fracture. AUC values were 0.862 and 0.767 for training and testing groups, separately, while their mean errors in the calibration curve were 0.027 and 0.038 separately. Decision curve analysis (DCA) curve revealed a high value of clinical application for both groups. CONCLUSION Upon admission, BMI, NLR, and SII are independent predictors of DVT before surgery among cases developing intertrochanteric femoral fractures. Additionally, the nomogram based on the BMI, NLR, and SII can assist clinicians in determining if preventive and symptomatic therapies are required to improve DVT prognosis and reduce its associated mortality.

Abstract
To evaluate the utility of neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), and systemic immune-response index (SIRI) in the prediction of adverse pregnancy outcomes in pregnant women with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). This retrospective case-control study was conducted in Ankara City Hospital perinatology clinic between 2019 and 2023. First-trimester NLR, SII (NLR X platelet count), and SIRI (NLR X monocyte count) values were compared between pregnant women with SLE (n = 29) and low-risk controls (n = 110). Afterward, pregnant women with SLE were divided into two groups: 1) SLE with perinatal complications (n = 15) and 2) SLE without perinatal complications (n = 14). NLR, SII, and SIRI values were compared between the two subgroups. Finally, a ROC analysis was performed to determine optimal cut-off values for NLR, SII, and SIRI in the prediction of composite adverse pregnancy outcomes. The study group had significantly higher first-trimester NLR, SII, and SIRI values compared to the controls. The SLE with perinatal complications group had significantly higher NLR, SII, and SIRI values than the SLE group without perinatal complications (p < 0.05). Optimal cut-off values were 6.5 (66.7% sensitivity,71.4% specificity), 1612.6 (73.3% sensitivity, 71.4% specificity), and, 4.7 (73.3% sensitivity, 77.6% specificity) for NLR, SII, and SIRI, respectively. SII, SIRI, and NLR may be used to predict adverse pregnancy outcomes in pregnant women with SLE.

Abstract
Purpose Internal medicine services serve the patient population with many chronic diseases. Therefore, it is high mortality rates compared to other departments of the hospital. Estimating the prognostic risk of hospitalized patients may be useful in mortality for patients. İn this study, we evaluated the level of Systemic Immune Inflammation Index (SII) and Systemic Inflammation Response Index (SIRI) and its association with mortality in inpatients. Patients and methods This study was performed in 2218 patients who were hospitalized between January 1st-December 31th of 2019. Patients were followed up for three years about primary endpoint as all-cause (except for unnatural deaths) mortality. Participants were divided into 4 equal groups according to their increasing levels of SII and SIRI. (Quartile 1-4) Age, gender, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, coronary artery disease, chronic kidney disease, malignancies (solid), white blood cell, neutrophil, lymphocyte, monocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit, platelet, CRP, albumin, Systemic Inflammation Response Index (Quartile 1-4), Systemic Immune Inflammation Index (Quartile 1-4) were compared between survival and non-survival groups. Results There were 1153 female and 1065 male participants enrolled. Compared with surviving patients, patients who died were older and had a higher prevalence of diabetes mellitus, hypertension, malignancy, chronic kidney disease and coronary artery disease (p < 0.001). There was a lower proportion of female patients among the patients who died. Compared to the survivor group, group who died exhibited a significant increase in CRP level, neutrophil, white blood cell and monocyte counts, but had a lower lymphocyte count, albumin level and hemoglobin count (P < 0.001). Results of Cox regression analysis showed that age, chronic kidney disease, malignancy, SIRI quartile 3, 4 and SII quartile 3, 4 pointed out a close relationship with mortality risk. (P < 0.001). Conclusion The SIRI and SII have indicated the clinical importance of as novel markers for predicting mortality in inpatients.

Abstract
Objective: In this study, we investigated the occurrence of no-reflow (NR) in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for saphenous vein grafts (SVGs) and its relationship with a new systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) that determines inflammation. Methods: We studied 303 patients with acute coronary syndrome without ST elevation who underwent PCI for SVG disease. Results: NR formation during SVG PCI was significantly higher in patients with high SII (p < 0.001). NR occurrence was 12.8% when SII was ≤548 and 41.9% when SII was >548. Conclusion: Our study is the first to investigate SII as the state of inflammation and its effect on the SVG PCI. Patients with higher SII have a higher risk of NR during an SVG for PCI.

Abstract
Inflammation contributes to deep vein thrombosis (DVT) formation in patients with aSAH after endovascular treatment. The relationship between systemic immune-inflammatory index (SII) as an inflammatory marker and DVT formation remains unclear. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the association between SII and aSAH-associated DVT following endovascular treatment. We enrolled 562 consecutive patients with aSAH after endovascular treatment at three centers from January 2019 to September 2021. The endovascular treatments included simple coil embolization and stent-assisted coil embolization. Deep venous thrombosis (DVT) was assessed by Color Doppler ultrasonography (CDUS). Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to establish the model. We assessed the association of the SII, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), the systemic inflammatory response index (SIRI), platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and DVT by using restricted cubic spline (RCS). ASAH-associated DVT was found in 136 (24.20%) patients. Based on the multiple logistic regression analysis, the correlation was found between aSAH-associated DVT and elevated SII (fourth quartile) (adjusted odds ratio = 8.20 [95% confidence interval, 3.76-17.92]; p < 0.001 [p for trend < 0.001]), elevated NLR (fourth quartile) (adjusted odds ratio = 6.94 [95% confidence interval, 3.24-14.89]; p < 0.001 [p for trend < 0.001]), elevated SIRI (fourth quartile) (adjusted odds ratio = 4.82 [95% confidence interval, 2.36-9.84]; p < 0.001 [p for trend < 0.001]), and elevated PLR (fourth quartile) (adjusted odds ratio = 5.49 [95% confidence interval, 2.61-11.57]; p < 0.001 [p for trend < 0.001]). The increased SII was correlated with the formation of aSAH-associated DVT after endovascular treatment.

Abstract
Background Acute ischemic stroke (AIS) is a primary cause of death and disability worldwide. Four markers that can be readily determined from peripheral blood, namely, the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and total bilirubin, were measured in this study. We examined the relationship between the SII and in-hospital mortality after AIS and evaluated which of the above four indicators was most accurate for predicting in-hospital mortality after AIS. Methods We selected patients from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care-IV (MIMIC-IV) database who were aged >18 years and who were diagnosed with AIS on admission. We collected the patients' baseline characteristics, including various clinical and laboratory data. To investigate the relationship between the SII and in-hospital mortality in patients with AIS, we employed the generalized additive model (GAM). Differences in in-hospital mortality between the groups were summarized by the Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and the log-rank test. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to assess the accuracy of the four indicators (SII, NLR, PLR, and total bilirubin) for predicting in-hospital mortality in patients with AIS. Results The study included 463 patients, and the in-hospital mortality rate was 12.31%. The GAM analysis showed a positive correlation between the SII and in-hospital mortality in patients with AIS, but the correlation was not linear. Unadjusted Cox regression identified a link between a high SII and an increased probability of in-hospital mortality. We also found that patients with an SII of >1,232 (Q2 group) had a considerably higher chance of in-hospital mortality than those with a low SII (Q1 group). The Kaplan-Meier analysis demonstrated that patients with an elevated SII had a significantly lower chance of surviving their hospital stay than those with a low SII. According to the results of the ROC curve analysis, the in-hospital mortality of patients with AIS predicted by the SII had an area under the ROC curve of 0.65, which revealed that the SII had a better discriminative ability than the NLR, PLR, and total bilirubin. Conclusion The in-hospital mortality of patients with AIS and the SII were positively correlated, but not linearly. A high SII was associated with a worse prognosis in patients with AIS. The SII had a modest level of discrimination for forecasting in-hospital mortality. The SII was slightly better than the NLR and significantly better than the PLR and total bilirubin for predicting in-hospital mortality in patients with AIS.

Abstract
Background The prognosis of several malignancies has been influenced by the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII); however, its association with the prognostic outcome of ovarian cancer (OC) remains controversial. The present meta-analysis focused on the systemic and comprehensive identification of the role of SII in predicting OC prognosis. Methods We searched the Web of Science, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) from inception until March 6, 2023. To predict the prognostic value of SII for overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) in patients with OC, we calculated pooled hazard ratios (HRs) and corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results The meta-analysis included six studies involving 1546 patients. The combined results showed that a high SII was significantly associated with poor OS (HR=2.70, 95% CI=1.98-3.67, p<0.001) and poor PFS (HR=2.71, 95% CI=1.78-4.12, p<0.001) in OC patients. These results were confirmed using subgroup and sensitivity analyses. Conclusion Our results concluded that a high SII significantly predicted poor OS and PFS in patients with OC. Therefore, it can be speculated that the SII may have an independent effect on the prognosis of OC.

Abstract
Systemic inflammation plays a central role in the pathophysiology of psoriasis. This study examined accessible systemic inflammatory markers in patients with psoriasis vulgaris and psoriatic arthritis. We aimed to evaluate their association with psoriasis severity, the presence of arthritis, and drug continuation rates. The findings revealed that neutrophil, monocyte, and platelet count, neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio, monocyte/lymphocyte ratio, systemic inflammation response index, systemic immune/inflammation index (SII), and CRP were positively correlated with Psoriasis Area and Severity Index scores. Patients presenting with higher platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR) or CRP values were more likely to be diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis than with psoriasis vulgaris in the multivariate regression analysis. Importantly, patients with higher pretreatment neutrophil or platelet count, PLR, and SII were associated with lower treatment continuation rates of conventional systemic agents. Higher pretreatment scores of systemic inflammatory markers did not affect treatment retention rates of biologics. These findings suggest that several accessible systemic inflammatory markers may effectively assess underlying systemic inflammation and may provide an indication for a therapeutic approach in patients with psoriasis vulgaris and psoriatic arthritis.

Abstract
PURPOSE Inflammation is one of the hallmarks of cancer, and inflammation-based markers that are calculated easily from laboratory results have shown predictive abilities. We investigated the prognostic values of the preoperative platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), and pan-immune-inflammation value (PIV) in patients with non-metastatic obstructive colorectal cancer (OCRC) and a self-expandable metallic stent inserted as a bridge to curative surgery. METHODS The subjects of this retrospective study were 86 patients with pathological stage I to III OCRC. We examined the associations of these biomarkers with short- and long-term outcomes. RESULTS Multivariate analyses revealed that a preoperative PLR < 149, SII < 597, and PIV < 209 were independently associated with poorer relapse-free survival (RFS) (P = 0.007, P < 0.001, and P = 0.002, respectively) and that a PIV < 209 was independently associated with poorer cancer-specific survival (P = 0.030). A platelet count < 240 was significantly associated with worse RFS, whereas the lymphocyte count was not. Pre-stenting PLR < 221 was an independent poor prognostic factor for RFS (P = 0.045). CONCLUSION This study showed that decreased preoperative PLR, SII, PIV, and pre-stenting PLR were associated with poorer RFS, contrary to the findings of most previous studies. Our results suggest that platelets and obstruction contributed primarily to the opposite relationships, which might provide new insight into the possible pathophysiology of platelet-tumor interactions generated in the OCRC environment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To investigate the clinical significance of preoperative systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) in patients with thymoma who underwent radical resection. METHODS This retrospective study involved 425 patients with thymoma who underwent radical resection at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University between September 1, 2008 and December 30, 2019. Data regarding routine preoperative blood tests and clinical features were collected to calculate and analyze the SII, platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR). RESULTS Univariate analysis indicated that age (p = 0.021), tumor size (p = 0.003), extended resection (p < 0.001), Masaoka-Koga stage (p < 0.001), PLR (p = 0.012), NLR (p = 0.041), and SII (p = 0.003) were related to patient prognosis. A higher SII (>345.83) was a significant independent prognostic factor in this cohort (p = 0.001, HR = 5.756, 95% CI: 2.144-15.457). Multivariate analysis showed that a high PLR was significantly associated with overall survival (OS) (p = 0.008, HR = 3.29, 95% CI: 1.371-7.896), while a high NLR was a significant independent prognostic factor for shorter OS (p = 0.024, HR = 2.654, 95% CI: 1.138-6.19). SII had an area under the curve (AUC) of 70.6% (AUC = 0.706) exceeding the predictive value for PLR (AUC = 0.678) and NLR (AUC = 0.654). CONCLUSION Preoperative SII can predict the prognosis of thymoma patients who have undergone radical resection but further multicenter prospective studies are needed to investigate the role of SII in thymoma.
