Abstract
The structural and functional features of lymphatic vessels in the peripheral nervous system (pLVs) is still unclear. Here, we clarify the existence of pLVs in rats, PROX1-EGFP transgenic mice and human, and exhibit a clear three-dimensional structure for helping understand its structural features. Moreover, two specific phenotypes of lymphatics endothelial cells (Rnd1Hi LECs and Ccl21Hi LECs) in peripheral nerves are well characterized by single-cell sequencing. Subsequently, the ability of trans-lymphatic delivery to peripheral nerves via pLVs has been dynamically demonstrated. After peripheral nerve injury (PNI), extensive lymphangiogenesis occurs in the lesion area and further enhances the efficiency of retrograde lymphatic-nerve transport. In PNI animal models, subcutaneously footpad-injected exosomes are efficiently delivered to sciatic nerve via pLVs which can promote nerve regeneration. The trans-lymphatic delivery to peripheral nerves via pLVs can subtly bypass BNB which provides an easy and alternative delivery route for PNI treatment.

Abstract
Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries are highly considered as next-generation energy storage techniques. Weakly solvating electrolyte with low lithium polysulfide (LiPS) solvating power promises Li anode protection and improved cycling stability. However, the cathodic LiPS kinetics is inevitably deteriorated, resulting in severe cathodic polarization and limited energy density. Herein, the LiPS kinetic degradation mechanism in weakly solvating electrolytes is disclosed to construct high-energy-density Li-S batteries. Activation polarization instead of concentration or ohmic polarization is identified as the dominant kinetic limitation, which originates from higher charge-transfer activation energy and a changed rate-determining step. To solve the kinetic issue, a titanium nitride (TiN) electrocatalyst is introduced and corresponding Li-S batteries exhibit reduced polarization, prolonged cycling lifespan, and high actual energy density of 381 Wh kg-1 in 2.5 Ah-level pouch cells. This work clarifies the LiPS reaction mechanism in protective weakly solvating electrolytes and highlights the electrocatalytic regulation strategy toward high-energy-density and long-cycling Li-S batteries.

Abstract
Lithium polysulfides (LiPSs) are pivotal intermediates involved in all the cathodic reactions in lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries. Elucidating the solvation structure of LiPSs is the first step for rational design of electrolyte and improving Li-S battery performances. Herein, we investigate the solvation structure of LiPSs and find that Li salt anions tend to enter the first solvation sheath of LiPSs and form contact ion pairs in electrolyte. The anion-involved solvation structure of LiPSs significantly influences the intrinsic kinetics of the sulfur redox reactions. In particular, the LiPS solvation structure modified by lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide endows Li-S batteries with reduced polarization and enhanced rate performances under high sulfur areal loading and lean electrolyte volume conditions. This work updates the fundamental understanding of the solvation chemistry of LiPSs and highlights electrolyte engineering for promoting the performances of Li-S batteries.

Abstract
Degenerative intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) is one of the main spinal surgery, conditions, which markedly increases the incidence of low back pain and deteriorates the patient's quality of life, and it imposes significant social and economic burdens. The molecular pathology of IVDD is highly complex and multilateral however still not ompletely understood. New findings indicate that IVDD is closely associated with inflammation, oxidative stress, cell injury and extracellular matrix metabolismdysregulation. Symptomatic management is the main therapeutic approach adopted for IVDD, but it fails to address the basic pathological changes and the causes of the disease. However, research is still focusing on molecular aspects in terms of gene expression, growth factors and cell signaling pathways in an attempt to identify specific molecular targets for IVDD treatment. The paper summarizes the most recent achievements in molecularunderstanding of the pathogenesis of IVDD and gives evidence-based recommendations for clinical practice.

Abstract
While N, N'-substituted p-phenylenediamines (PPDs) and their quinone derivatives (PPDQs) have been widely detected in the environment, there is currently limited data on their occurrence in humans. In this study, we conducted the first serum analysis of two PPDs and PPDQs in the healthy and secondary nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (S-NAFLD) cohorts in South China. The concentrations of four oxidative stress biomarkers (OSBs), namely, 8-iso-prostaglandin F2α (8-PGF2α), 11β-prostaglandin F2α (11-PGF2α), 15(R)-prostaglandin F2α (15-PGF2α), and 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine in serum samples were also measured. Results showed that N-(1,3-dimethybutyl)-N'-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine (6PPD) quinone was the predominant target analytes both in the healthy and S-NAFLD cohorts, with the median concentrations of 0.13 and 0.20 ng/mL, respectively. Significant (p < 0.05) and positive correlations were found between 6PPD concentration and 8-PGF2α, 11-PGF2α, and 15-PGF2α in both the healthy and S-NAFLD cohorts, indicating that 6PPD may be associated with lipid oxidative damage. In addition, concentrations of 6PPD in serum were associated significantly linked with total bilirubin (β = 0.180 μmol/L, 95%CI: 0.036-0.396) and direct bilirubin (DBIL, β = 0.321 μmol/L, 95%CI: 0.035-0.677) related to hepatotoxicity. Furthermore, 8-PGF2α, 11-PGF2α, and 15-PGF2α mediated 17.1%, 24.5%, and 16.6% of 6PPD-associated DBIL elevations, respectively. Conclusively, this study provides novel insights into human exposure to and hepatotoxicity assessment of PPDs and PPDQs.

Abstract
Wedelolactone (WEL) is a small molecule compound isolated from Eclipta prostrate L., which has been reported to possess various biological activities such as anti-hepatotoxicity, anti-hypertension, anti-tumour, anti-phospholipase A2 and detoxification activity against snake venom. In the present study, we investigated the interaction of WEL with human serum albumin (HSA) using simultaneous fluorescence, UV-visible spectroscopy, 3D fluorescence spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), molecular docking technique and molecular dynamics simulation. We found that the interaction between HSA and WEL can exhibit a static fluorescence burst mechanism, and the binding process is essentially spontaneous, with the main forces manifested as hydrogen bonding, van der Waals force and electrostatic interactions. Competitive binding and molecular docking studies showed that WEL preferentially bound to HSA in substructural region IIA (site I); molecular dynamics simulations showed that HSA interacted with WEL to form a stable complex, which also induced conformational changes in HSA. The study of the interaction between WEL and HSA can provide a reference for a more in-depth study of the pharmacodynamic mechanism of WEL and its further development and utilisation.

Abstract
Purpose We aimed to identify the risk factors for postoperative cognitive decline (POCD) by evaluating the outcomes from preoperative comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) and intraoperative anesthetic interventions. Patients and Methods Data used in the study were obtained from the Aged Patient Perioperative Longitudinal Evaluation-Multidisciplinary Trial (APPLE-MDT) cohort recruited from the Department of Orthopedics in Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University between March, 2019 and June, 2022. All patients accepted preoperative CGA by the multidisciplinary team using 13 common scales across 15 domains reflecting the multi-organ functions. The variables included demographic data, scales in CGA, comorbidities, laboratory tests and intraoperative anesthetic data. Cognitive function was assessed by Montreal Cognitive Assessment scale within 48 hours after admission and after surgery. Dropping of ≥1 point between the preoperative and postoperative scale was defined as POCD. Results We enrolled 119 patients. The median age was 80.00 years [IQR, 77.00, 82.00] and 68 patients (57.1%) were female. Forty-two patients (35.3%) developed POCD. Three cognitive domains including calculation (P = 0.046), recall (P = 0.047) and attention (P = 0.007) were significantly worsened after surgery. Univariate analysis showed that disability of instrumental activity of daily living, incidence rate of postoperative respiratory failure (PRF) ≥4.2%, STOP-Bang scale score, Caprini risk scale score and Sufentanil for maintenance of anesthesia were different between the POCD and non-POCD patients. In the multivariable logistic regression analysis, PRF ≥ 4.2% (odds ratio [OR] = 2.343; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.028-5.551; P = 0.046) and Sufentanil for maintenance of anesthesia (OR = 0.260; 95% CI: 0.057-0.859; P = 0.044) was independently associated with POCD as risk and protective factors, respectively. Conclusion Our study suggests that POCD is frequent among older patients undergoing elective orthopedic surgery, in which decline of calculation, recall and attention was predominant. Preoperative comprehensive geriatric assessments are important to identify the high-risk individuals of POCD.

Abstract
Intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) is a disease that severely affects spinal health and is prevalent worldwide. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and their derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) have regenerative potential and have emerged as promising therapeutic tools for treating degenerative discs. However, challenges such as the harsh microenvironment of degenerated intervertebral discs and EVs' limited stability and efficacy have hindered their clinical application. In recent years, hydrogels have attracted much attention in the field of IDD therapy because they can mimic the physiologic microenvironment of the disc and provide a potential solution by providing a suitable growth environment for MSCs and EVs. This review introduced the biological properties of MSCs and their derived EVs, summarized the research on the application of MSCs and EVs in IDD, summarized the current clinical trial studies of MSCs and EVs, and also explored the mechanism of action of MSCs and EVs in intervertebral discs. In addition, plenty of research elaborated on the mechanism of action of different classified hydrogels in tissue engineering, the synergistic effect of MSCs and EVs in promoting intervertebral disc regeneration, and their wide application in treating IDD. Finally, the challenges and problems still faced by hydrogel-loaded MSCs and EVs in the treatment of IDD are summarized, and potential solutions are proposed. This paper outlines the synergistic effects of MSCs and EVs in treating IDD in combination with hydrogels and aims to provide theoretical references for future related studies.

Abstract
There is mounting evidence that the uterine microbiota has an important role in the pathogenesis of endometritis, with invasion of pathogenic bacteria being a main cause of uterine microbial imbalance. However, mechanisms of uterine microbiota resistance to pathogen invasion remain unclear. In this study, an intrauterine infusion of Staphylococcus aureus was used as a bovine endometritis model; it significantly increased abundance of pathogenic bacteria (Streptococcus, Helccoccus, Fusobacterium, and Escherichia-Shigella) and significantly decreased abundance of probiotics (Allstipes, Bacteroides, Phascolarctobacterium, Romboutsia, and Prevotella). In addition, the metabolite aloe-emodin was positively correlated with Prevotella and based on combined analyses of omics and probiotics, the presence of its metabolite aloe-emodin in the uterus at least partially resisted Staphylococcus aureus invasion. Therefore, Aloe-emodin has potential for regulating microbial structure and preventing endometritis.

Abstract
Graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is one of the most important cause of death in patients undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). The gastrointestinal tract is one of the most common sites affected by GVHD. However, there is no gold standard clinical practice for diagnosing gastrointestinal GVHD (GI-GVHD), and it is mainly diagnosed by the patient's clinical symptoms and related histological changes. Additionally, GI-GVHD causes intestinal immune system disorders, damages intestinal epithelial tissue such as intestinal epithelial cells((IEC), goblet, Paneth, and intestinal stem cells, and disrupts the intestinal epithelium's physical and chemical mucosal barriers. The use of antibiotics and diet alterations significantly reduces intestinal microbial diversity, further reducing bacterial metabolites such as short-chain fatty acids and indole, aggravating infection, and GI-GVHD. gut microbe diversity can be restored by fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) to treat refractory GI-GVHD. This review article focuses on the clinical diagnosis of GI-GVHD and the effect of GVHD on intestinal flora and its metabolites.

Abstract
Descriptive epidemiological methods were used to analyze the epidemiological characteristics of the local cluster of COVID-19 in the logistic park of Yuhang District in Hangzhou in March 2022. The cluster epidemic was detected by a case who actively visited the fever clinic. The epidemic lasted for 8 days, and a total of 58 cases (53 workers, 2 students, 1 farmer, 1 teacher and 1 unemployed) were found, including 40 males and 18 females. The age was (33.29±12.22) years. There cases were mainly in Yuhang District (48 cases, 82.77%) and Shangcheng District (7 cases, 12.07%) of Hangzhou. The real-time regeneration number peaked at 2.31 on March 10th and decreased to 0.37 on March 15th. The sequencing result of the indicated case was 100% homologous with the sequence uploaded from South Korea on March 4th, 2022.

Abstract
Accumulating interest has been surging over the past few years regarding the effects of obesity on immunotherapy. In addition to the body mass index (BMI), imaging-quantified body fat compartments have been investigated. The present study aimed to evaluate the predictive value of the BMI and computed tomography (CT)-based body fat in patients with cancer receiving immunotherapy. For this purpose, the PubMed, MEDLINE, EMBASE and Cochrane databases were searched from January 2017 to July 2022. Clinical studies evaluating the association between BMI or body fat and survival of patients with cancer treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) were included. In total, 15 studies reporting on the BMI were included in the meta-analysis and 16 studies evaluating body fat were included in the systematic review. According to the classification of the World Health Organization, overweight and obese patients with ICI treatment showed improved overall survival [overweight vs. normal: Hazard ratio (HR)=0.79, 95% confidence interval (CI)=0.64-0.98, P=0.03; obese vs. normal: HR=0.75, 95% CI=0.60-0.94, P=0.013] and progression-free survival (overweight vs. normal: HR=0.82, 95% CI=0.70-0.97, P=0.02; obese vs. normal: HR=0.81, 95% CI=0.65-1.02, P=0.07). Among the articles investigating the effect of body fat composition on the efficacy of immunotherapy, a number of studies included various CT analysis techniques and cutoffs to define body fat composition. Associations of body fat with survival were contradictory in different patients with cancer treated with immunotherapy. Obesity was associated with better survival in patients with cancer treated with ICIs. Further analyses are required to demonstrate the prognostic value of body fat in patients with cancer immunotherapy.

Abstract
The high sensitivity to color browning during room-temperature storage was a significant factor in limiting the development of fresh spinach noodles (FSN). The practice of humidity-controlled heat treatment (HCHT) at varying temperatures, relative humidity, and time was carried out to limit enzyme activity and improve the quality of FSN. Results showed that HCHT could maximize the color preservation of fresh spinach noodle quality while effectively inactivating polyphenol oxidase and the yeasts, and mold count in FSN during storage was almost undetectable after mild conditions (80 °C). The hardness and chewiness of HCHT noodles were significantly increased, but the free sulfhydryl content was reduced. At 80 °C, 90 %, 5 min, protein structural aggregation was found in the microstructure of HCHT fresh spinach noodles. HCHT also caused partial gelatinization, as evidenced by the decrease in starch gelatinization enthalpy from 5.49 to 4.77 J/g, although the gelatinization degree of FSN was comparatively low.

Abstract
Objective: To summarize the clinical characteristics of epileptic seizure associated with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). Methods: From January 2017 to July 2023 at Children's Hospital Capital Institute of Pediatrics, medical records of patients with both NF1 and epileptic seizure were reviewed in this case series study. The clinical characteristics, treatment and prognosis were analyzed retrospectively. Results: A total of 15 patients(12 boys and 3 girls) were collected. Café-au-lait macules were observed in all 15 patients. There were 6 patients with neurodevelopmental disorders and the main manifestations were intellectual disability or developmental delay. The age at the first epileptic seizure was 2.5 (1.2, 5.5) years. There were various seizure types, including generalized tonic-clonic seizures in 8 patients, focal motor seizures in 6 patients, epileptic spasm in 4 patients, tonic seizures in 1 patient, absence in 1 patient, generalized myoclonic seizure in 1 patient and focal to bilateral tonic-clonic seizure in 1 patient. Among 14 patients whose brain magnetic resonance imaging results were available, there were abnormal signals in corpus callosum, basal ganglia, thalamus or cerebellum in 6 patients, dilated ventricles of different degrees in 3 patients, blurred gray and white matter boundary in 2 patients, agenesis of corpus callosum in 1 patient and no obvious abnormalities in the other patients. Among 13 epilepsy patients, 8 were seizure-free with 1 or 2 antiseizure medications(ASM), 1 with drug resistant epilepsy was seizure-free after left temporal lobectomy, and the other 4 patients who have received 2 to 9 ASM had persistent seizures. One patient with complex febrile convulsion achieved seizure freedom after oral administration of diazepam on demand. One patient had only 1 unprovoked epileptic seizure and did not have another seizure without taking any ASM. Conclusions: The first epileptic seizure in NF1 patients usually occurs in infancy and early childhood, with the main seizure type of generalized tonic-clonic seizure and focal motor seizure. Some patients have intellectual disability or developmental delay. Most epilepsy patients achieve seizure freedom with ASM.

Abstract
Recently, the supra-normal left ventricular ejection fraction (snLVEF) has been proposed, based on extensive datasets indicating increased all-cause mortality in individuals with an LVEF exceeding 65%. However, the implications of an LVEF > 65% in the context of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) remain underexplored.The aim of the present study was to investigate the correlation between supra-normal left ventricular ejection fraction (snLVEF) and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in patients with ACS.Methods: A total of 874 ACS patients (560 men, mean age 59.5 ± 10.0; 314 women, mean age 61.5 ± 8.9) who underwent their first coronary angiography during the period from March 2013 to October 2015 were divided into 2 groups: normal LVEF (nLVEF) (55% ≤ EF ≤ 65%) and snLVEF (EF > 65%), according to their echocardiography results. The patients were evaluated for MACE after surgery by collecting clinical data and long-term follow-up data. This correlation was further analyzed by Kaplan-Meier analysis and Cox regression analysis.The follow-up data revealed a significantly higher incidence of MACE among snLVEF patients compared to the nLVEF group (15.6% versus 7.4%; P = 0.020). This heightened risk persisted even after adjustment for multiple variables, indicating a strong association between snLVEF and increased MACE risk (HR: 2.346; 95% CI: 1.196-4.602; P = 0.013).SnLVEF was independently associated with poor prognosis after ACS. Enhanced management strategies for snLVEF patients could potentially reduce the incidence of MACE in ACS patients.

Abstract
Background Abnormal changes in body composition and systemic inflammation response have been associated with poor survival of cancer patients. Our study was to explore the prognostic value of the association between body composition indicators and systemic inflammation markers among patients with locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC) who underwent concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT). Methods We retrospectively reviewed medical records of LACC patients treated between 2016 and 2019. Subcutaneous, visceral and intra-muscular adipose index (SAI, VAI and IMAI) and skeletal muscle index (SMI) were derived from computed tomography (CT). Kaplan-Meier analysis and Univariate and multivariate Cox analyses were used to evaluate the survival. A nomogram was constructed to assess the prognostic value. Results The study included 196 patients treated with CCRT. According to multivariable Cox analyses, IIIC1r (P = 0.045), high systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) (P = 0.004), sarcopenia (P = 0.008), high SAI (P = 0.016) and high VAI (P = 0.001) were significantly risk factors for overall survival (OS). Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that patients with low lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR) and sarcopenia had longer OS than those with high LMR and sarcopenia (P = 0.023). The high neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in non-sarcopenic patients showed better survival (P = 0.022). Low VAI (P = 0.019) or low IMAI (P = 0.019) combined with low SII had a favorable OS. Low LMR combined with low SAI was associated with longer OS (P = 0.022). The calibration plots of nomogram predicting the 3-year and 5-year OS rates were close to the ideal models. Conclusion Inflammation factors were closely associated with abnormal muscle and fat distribution. The combined prognostic value of body composition indicators and systemic inflammation markers was reliable in predicting survival for LACC patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The therapeutic effect of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (PARPi) monotherapy compared with platinum-based chemotherapy, and the impact to subsequent platinum-based chemotherapy after PARPi resistance were inconclusive in breast cancer susceptibility genes (BRCA)1/2-mutated ovarian cancer patients with secondary platinum-sensitive relapse. METHODS BRCA1/2-mutated patients with secondary platinum-sensitive relapse included in this study did not receive any maintenance regimen after first- and second-line platinum-based chemotherapy, and the secondary platinum-free interval (PFI) was more than 6 months. Patients in study group were treated with PARPi monotherapy until disease progression, and patients in control group were treated with platinum-based chemotherapy without restriction. Progression-free survival (PFS) was defined as the time from third-line therapy to disease progression or death, PFS2 was defined as the time from platinum-based chemotherapy after PARPi resistance to next subsequent therapy or death. Post-recurrence survival (PRS) refers to the survival time after secondary platinum-sensitive relapse. RESULTS A total of 119 patients were retrospectively analyzed, including 71 (59.7%) in study group and 48 (40.3%) in control group. The objective response rate (ORR: 77.5% vs. 80.0%, p=0.766) and PFS (median: 11.2 vs. 11.0 months, p=0.962) were comparable. The benefit of subsequent platinum-based chemotherapy after PARPi resistance was more pronounced in patients with PARPi treatment for more than 12 months (median PFS2: 8.6 vs. 4.3 months, p=0.040). PARPi monotherapy had no adverse effect on PRS compared with platinum-based chemotherapy (median PRS:41.2 vs. 42.8 months, p=0.323). Compared to patients in control group who had never received PARPi, PARPi monotherapy (median PRS: 41.2 vs. 33.7 months, p=0.019) and post-line treatment with PARPi in the control group (median PRS: 48.1 vs. 33.7 months, p=0.002) could prolong PRS for patients with secondary platinum-sensitive relapse. CONCLUSIONS PARPi monotherapy was similar to platinum-based chemotherapy for BRCA1/2-mutated ovarian cancer patients with secondary platinum-sensitive recurrence, and could improve prognosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The current study aimed to investigate the incidence and risk factors for postoperative acute ischemic stroke (PAIS) in advanced-aged patients (≥ 75 years) with previous ischemic stroke undergoing noncardiac surgery. METHODS In this single-center retrospective cohort study, all advanced-aged patients underwent noncardiac surgery from 1 January, 2019, to 30 April, 2022. Data were extracted from hospital electronic medical records. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed to determine predictors of PAIS. Multivariable linear or logistic regression analysis was performed to determine predictors of outcomes due to PAIS. RESULTS Twenty-four patients (6.0%) of the 400 patients developed PAIS. Carotid endarterectomy (CEA), length of surgery and preoperative Modified Rankin scale (mRS) ≥ 3 were significant predictors of PAIS. CEA was associated with increased risk of PAIS (OR 4.14; 95%CI, 1.43-11.99). Each additional minute in length of surgery had slightly increased the risk of PAIS (OR, 1.01; 95%CI, 1.00-1.01). Compared with reference (mRS < 3), mRS ≥ 3 increased odds of PAIS (OR, 4.09;95%CI, 1.12-14.93). Surgery type and length of surgery were found to be significant predictors of in-hospital expense (P < 0.001) and hospital stays (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS CEA, length of surgery and preoperative mRS ≥ 3 may increase the development of PAIS in advanced-aged patients (≥ 75 years) with previous stroke undergoing noncardiac surgery. PAIS increased in-hospital mortality and prolonged hospital stay.

Abstract
Objective This study aims to investigate the situation of vertigo disorder combined with anxiety and depression in patients with different types of vestibular syndrome. Methods A total of 330 patients with vertigo in otolaryngology outpatient department were selected, and clinical information such as age, gender, and scores of Dizziness handicap inventory (DHI), Generalized anxiety disorder-7 (GAD-7), and Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) were collected. Analyzed the differences among acute vestibular syndrome (AVS), episodic vestibular syndrome (EVS) and chronic vestibular syndrome (CVS) in terms of age, gender, comorbid anxiety and depression, and the multivariate ordered logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate the relationship between the above factors and the degree of vertigo disorder. Results The three types of vestibular syndrome had no significant difference in age composition, sex composition, anxiety and depression. There was no significant difference in the probability of anxiety and depression among vertigo patients of different ages and genders. The total score of vertigo disorder and each sub-item score were higher in patients with anxiety and depression. Patients with anxiety mainly manifested in EVS and CVS, while patients with depression mainly manifested in EVS and AVS. The probability of increased vertigo in anxious patients was 4.65 times that of non-anxious patients, and the probability of increased vertigo in depressed patients was 3.49 times that of non-depressed patients. Age and gender had no statistically significant effect on the degree of vertigo. In patients with EVS, anxiety and depression had a significant effect on the degree of vertigo; in patients with CVS, anxiety had a significant effect on the degree of vertigo, but depression had no significant effect. Conclusion Age and gender do not significantly affect the degree of vertigo disorder and mental state in various vestibular syndromes. Instead, anxiety and depression are the risk factors for aggravating the degree of vertigo disorder, and manifest differently in each type of vestibular syndrome. Therefore, it is necessary to use a quick scale tool to conduct a standardized screening of the psychological status of patients with vertigo.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical features and genetic features of combined oxidative phosphorylation deficiency 32 (COXPD32) caused by MRPS34 gene variation. Methods: The clinical data and genetic test of a child with COXPD32 hospitalized in the Department of Neurology, Children's Hospital, Capital Institute of Pediatrics in March 2021 were extracted and analyzed. A literature search was implemented using Wanfang, China biology medicine disc, China national knowledge infrastructure, ClinVar, human gene mutation database (HGMD) and Pubmed databases with the key words "MRPS34" "MRPS34 gene" and "combined oxidative phosphorylation deficiency 32" (up to February 2023). Clinical and genetic features of COXPD32 were summarized. Results: A boy aged 1 year and 9 months was admitted due to developmental delay. He showed mental and motor retardation, and was below the 3rd percentile for height, weight, and head circumference of children of the same age and gender. He had poor eye contact, esotropia, flat nasal bridge, limbs hypotonia, holding instability and tremors. In addition, Grade Ⅲ/6 systolic murmur were heard at left sternal border. Arterial blood gases suggested that severe metabolic acidosis with lactic acidosis. Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed multiple symmetrical abnormal signals in the bilateral thalamus, midbrain, pons and medulla oblongata. Echocardiography showed atrial septal defect. Genetic testing identified the patient as a compound heterozygous variation of MRPS34 gene, c.580C>T (p.Gln194Ter) and c.94C>T (p.Gln32Ter), with c.580C>T being the first report and a diagnosis of COXPD32. His parents carried a heterozygous variant, respectively. The child improved after treatment with energy support, acidosis correction, and "cocktail" therapy (vitaminB1, vitaminB2, vitaminB6, vitaminC and coenzyme Q10). A total of 8 cases with COXPD32 were collected through 2 English literature reviews and this study. Among the 8 patients, 7 cases had onset during infancy and 1 was unknown, all had developmental delay or regression, 7 cases had feeding difficulty or dysphagia, followed by dystonia, lactic acidosis, ocular symptoms, microcephaly, constipation and dysmorphic facies(mild coarsening of facial features, small forehead, anterior hairline extending onto forehead,high and narrow palate, thick gums, short columella, and synophrys), 2 cases died of respiratory and circulatory failure, and 6 were still alive at the time of reporting, with an age range of 2 to 34 years. Blood and (or) cerebrospinal fluid lactate were elevated in all 8 patients. MRI in 7 cases manifested symmetrical abnormal signals in the brainstem, thalamus, and (or) basal ganglia. Urine organic acid test were all normal but 1 patient had alanine elevation. Five patients underwent respiratory chain enzyme activity testing, and all had varying degrees of enzyme activity reduction. Six variants were identified, 6 patients were homozygous variants, with c.322-10G>A was present in 4 patients from 2 families and 2 compound heterozygous variants. Conclusions: The clinical phenotype of COXPD32 is highly heterogenous and the severity of the disease varies from development delay, feeding difficulty, dystonia, high lactic acid, ocular symptoms and reduced mitochondrial respiratory chain enzyme activity in mild cases, which may survive into adulthood, to rapid death due to respiratory and circulatory failure in severe cases. COXPD32 needs to be considered in cases of unexplained acidosis, hyperlactatemia, feeding difficulties, development delay or regression, ocular symptoms, respiratory and circulatory failure, and symmetrical abnormal signals in the brainstem, thalamus, and (or) basal ganglia, and genetic testing can clarify the diagnosis.

Abstract
This study aimed to clarify the effects of motor fatigue on cortical activation levels and functional connectivity during upper limb resistance training using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). Ten healthy college students participated in a high intensity upper limb resistance training and fNIRS was used to measure the changes of oxyhemoglobin concentration changes (HbO) in bilateral sensorimotor cortex (SMC), premotor cortex (PMC), supplementary motor area (SMA), and dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC). The integral value (IV) of blood oxygen signal was calculated as an indicator of cortical activation level and the whole brain correlation analysis was used to calculate cortical functional connectivity. The results showed that as motor fatigue deepened, the activation levels of bilateral DLPFC and PMC in early stage were significantly higher than those in later stage (P<0.05), and the functional connectivity strength of the motor related cortex areas between the hemispheres was significantly reduced, which was manifested by the functional connectivity strength of LSMC-RSMC and LPMC-RSMC showed a significant decrease in middle stage compared with that in early stage (P<0.05) and that the functional connectivity strength of LPMC-RSMC and RSMC-SMA showed a significant decrease in later stage compared with that in early stage (P<0.05). In each stage, the motor related cortex areas maintained high activation levels and the cerebral cortex showed extensive functional connectivity.Clinical Relevance- The clinical relevance of this study is to deepen the understanding of the neural processes related to upper limb resistance training based on motor fatigue, and provide a clinical basis for optimizing resistance training strategies related to motor dysfunction patients with altered brain function under fatigue.

Abstract
Constructed wetlands (CWs) are usually operated at low hydraulic load rates (HLRs) of < 0.5 m3/m2/d, and can efficiently remove pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) from wastewaters. They however often occupy a large area of land, especially when treating the secondary effluent from wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) in megacities. High-load CWs (HCWs) with an HLR ≥ 1 m3/m2/d, requiring smaller land areas, are a good option for urban areas. However, their performance for PPCP removal is not clear. In this study, we evaluated the performance of three full-scale HCWs (HLR: 1.0-1.3 m3/m2/d) to remove 60 PPCPs, and found they had a stable removal performance and a higher areal removal capacity than the previously reported CWs operated at low HLRs. We verified the advantages of HCWs by testing the efficiency of two identical CWs at a low HLR (0.15 m3/m2/d) and a high HLR (1.3 m3/m2/d) fed with the same secondary effluent. The areal removal capacity during the high-HLR operation was 6-9 times higher than that during the low-HLR operation. A high dissolved oxygen content, and low COD and NH4-N concentrations in the secondary effluent were critical for the robust PPCP removal by tertiary treatment HCWs.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There has been limited research regarding the effect of preventive precise multimodal analgesia (PPMA) on the duration of acute postoperative pain after total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH). This randomized controlled trial aimed to evaluate how PPMA affects pain rehabilitation. OBJECTIVES Our primary objective was to reduce the duration of acute postoperative pain after TLH, including incisional and visceral pain. STUDY DESIGN A double blind randomized controlled clinical trial. SETTING Department of Anesthesiology, Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University, Beijing, People's Republic of China. METHODS Seventy patients undergoing TLH were randomized to Group PPMA or Group Control (Group C) in a 1:1 ratio. Patients in Group PPMA were given PPMA through the pre-incisional administration of parecoxib sodium 40 mg (parecoxib is not approved for use in the US) and oxycodone 0.1 mg/kg as well as local anesthetic infiltration at the incision sites. In Group C, similar doses of parecoxib sodium and oxycodone were injected during uterine removal, and a local anesthetic infiltration procedure was performed immediately before skin closure. The index of consciousness 2 was utilized to titrate the remifentanil dosage in all patients to ensure sufficient analgesia. RESULTS Compared with the Control, PPMA shortened the durations of incisional and visceral pain at rest (median, interquartile range [IQR]: 0, 0.0- 2.5) vs 2.0, 0.0-48.0 hours, P = 0.045; 24.0, 6.0-24.0 vs 48.0, 24.0-48.0 hours, P < 0.001; and during coughing 1.0, 0.0-3.0 vs 24.0, 0.3-48.0 hours, P = 0.001; 24.0, 24.0-48.0] vs 48.0, 48.0-72.0] hours, P < 0.001). The Visual Analog Scale (VAS) scores for incisional pain within 24 hours and visceral pain within 48 hours in Group PPMA were lower than those in Group C (P < 0.05). PPMA evidently decreased the VAS scores for incisional pain during coughing at 48 hours (P < 0.05). Pre-incisional PPMA significantly reduced postoperative opioid consumption (median, IQR: 3.0 [0.0-3.0] vs 3.0 [0.8-6.0] mg, P = 0.041) and the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting (25.0% vs 50.0%, P = 0.039). Postoperative recovery and hospital stay were similar between the 2 groups. LIMITATIONS This research had some limitations, including that it was a single-center research with a limited sample size. Our study cohort did not represent the overall patient population in the People's Republic of China; therefore, the external validity of our findings remains limited. Furthermore, the prevalence of chronic pain was not tracked. CONCLUSION Pre-incisional PPMA may enhance the rehabilitation process of acute postoperative pain after TLH.

Abstract
BackgroundQuantitative electroencephalography (QEEG) has emerged as a promising monitoring method in cerebral ischemia, but the feasibility of QEEG in intraoperative cerebral perfusion-related ischemia monitoring is still uncertain. The purpose of this study was to investigate the value of QEEG monitoring in Carotid Endarterectomy (CEA) and the thresholds for intraoperative cerebral perfusion-related ischemia monitoring.MethodsSixty-three patients who underwent carotid endarterectomy with continuous Transcranial Doppler ultrasound (TCD) monitoring and QEEG monitoring at Xuanwu Hospital Capital Medical University from January 2021 to August 2021 were enrolled in this study. Each patient received total intravenous anesthesia. Middle cerebral artery blood flow velocity (V-MCA) was obtained by TCD. Relative alpha percentage (RA) and alpha-delta ratio (ADR) were obtained by QEEG monitoring. Patients were divided into ischemic and non-ischemic groups using a decline of more than 50% in the V-MCA monitored by TCD as the gold standard.ResultsOf the 63 patients, twenty patients were divided into the ischemic group, and forty-three patients into the non-ischemic group. Ipsilateral post-clamp RA and ADR values of QEEG were decreased for all patients in the ischemic group. The optimal threshold for RA and ADR to predict cerebral ischemia was a 14% decrease from baseline (sensitivity 90.0%, specificity 90.7%, Kappa value 0.786), a 21% decrease from baseline (sensitivity 85.0%, specificity 81.4%, Kappa value 0.622), respectively, indicated by TCD monitoring.ConclusionsOur study demonstrated that QEEG is a promising monitoring method undergoing CEA under general anesthesia and has good consistency with TCD.

Abstract
Herein, a chemical pre-potassiation strategy via simultaneously treating both glucose derived carbon (GDC) anode and commercial activated carbon (CAC) cathode in potassium-naphthalene-tetrahydrofuran solution is developed for potassium ion hybrid capacitor (PIHC). Combined with in situ and ex situ characterizations, a radical reaction between pre-potassiation reagent and carbon electrodes is confirmed, which not only deactivates electrochemical irreversible sites, but also promotes to pre-form a uniform and dense KF-rich electrolyte film on the electrodes. As a result, the pre-potassiation treatment presents multiple advantages: (I) the initial Coulombic efficiency (CE) of the GDC anode increases from 45.4 % to 84.0 % with higher rate capability; (II) the CAC cathode exhibits the improved cycling CEs and stability due to the enhanced resistance to electrolyte oxidation at 4.2 V; (III) the assembled PIHC achieves a high energy density of 172.5 Wh kg-1 with cycling life over 10000 cycles.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To develop and validate a nomogram to detect improved knee pain in osteoarthritis (OA) by integrating magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) radiomics signature of subchondral bone and clinical characteristics. METHODS Participants were selected from the Vitamin D Effects on Osteoarthritis (VIDEO) study. The primary outcome was 20% improvement of knee pain score over 2 years in participants administrated either vitamin D or placebo. Radiomics features of subchondral bone and clinical characteristics from 216 participants were extracted and analyzed. The participants were randomly split into the training and validation cohorts at a ratio of 8:2. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression was used to select features and generate radiomics signatures. The optimal radiomics signature and clinical indicators were fitted into a nomogram using multivariable logistic regression model. RESULTS The nomogram showed favorable discrimination performance [AUCtraining, 0.79 (95% CI: 0.72-0.79), AUCvalidation, 0.83 (95% CI: 0.70-0.96)] as well as a good calibration. Additional contributing value of fusion radiomics signature to the nomogram was statistically significant (NRI, 0.23; IDI, 0.14, P < 0.001 in training cohort and NRI, 0.29; IDI, 0.18, P < 0.05 in validating cohort). Decision curve analysis confirmed the clinical usefulness of nomogram. CONCLUSION The radiomics-based nomogram comprising the MR radiomics signature and clinical variables achieves a favorable predictive efficacy and accuracy in differentiating improvement in knee pain among OA patients. This proof-of-concept study provides a promising way to predict clinically meaningful outcomes.

Abstract
Ion transport in solids is a key topic in solid-state ionics. It is critical but challenging to understand the relationship between material structures and ion transport. Nanochannels in crystals provide ion transport pathways, which are responsible for the fast ion transport in fast lithium (Li)-ion conductors. The controlled synthesis of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) provides a promising approach to artificially regulating nanochannels. Herein, the CNTs with a diameter of 5.5 Å are predicted to exhibit an ultralow Li-ion diffusion barrier of about 10 meV, much lower than those in routine solid electrolyte materials. Such a characteristic is attributed to the similar chemical environment of a Li ion during its diffusion based on atomic and electronic structure analyses. The concerted diffusion of Li ions ensures high ionic conductivities of CNTs. These results not only reveal the immense potential of CNTs for fast Li-ion transport but also provide a new understanding for rationally designing solid materials with high ionic conductivities.

Abstract
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide. Although several lung cancer diagnostic methods are available for lung nodule biopsy, there are limitations in terms of accuracy, safety, and invasiveness. Transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA) is a common method for diagnosing and treating lung cancer that involves a robot-assisted medical flexible needle moving along a curved three-dimensional trajectory, avoiding anatomical barriers to achieve clinically meaningful goals in humans. Inspired by the puncture angle between the needle tip and the vessel in venipuncture, we suggest that different orientations of the medical flexible needle puncture path affect the cost of the puncture trajectory and propose an effective puncture region based on the optimal puncture direction, which is a strategy based on imposing geometric constraints on the search space of the puncture direction, and based on this, we focused on the improved implementation of RCS*. Planning within the TBNA-based lung environment was performed using the rapidly exploring random tree (RRT), resolution-complete search (RCS), and RCS* (a resolution-optimal version of RCS) within an effective puncture region. The experimental results show that the optimal puncture direction corresponding to the lowest cost puncture trajectory is consistent among the three algorithms and RCS* is more efficient for planning. The experiments verified the feasibility and practicality of our proposed minimum puncture angle and puncture effective region and facilitated the study of the puncture direction of flexible needle puncture.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Pixel-based beamforming realizes dynamic focusing at the pixel level with a focused beam by assuming that the received signals are composed of spherical pulses. Far-focused pixel-based (FPB) imaging was proposed to avoid artifacts around the focal depth. However, the contrast improvement is limited. OBJECTIVE We propose an adaptive weighting method based on dynamic phase coherence factor (DPCF) to improve the image contrast while preserving the speckle pattern. METHODS The phase variation is dynamically estimated based on the noise energy proportion of echo signals and it is used to calculate phase coherence weights for suppressing interference and preserving desired signals. A depth-dependent parameter is designed for DPCF to enhance the performance of noise and clutter suppression in the far-field region. We further use the subarray averaging technique to smooth the speckle texture. RESULTS The proposed method was evaluated on simulated, phantom experimental, and in vivo data. Results show that, compared with the phase coherence factor (PCF) based method, DPCF respectively leads to average CR improvements by more than 60% and 24% in simulation and experiment, while obtaining an improved speckle signal-to-noise ratio. CONCLUSIONS The proposed method is a potentially valuable approach to obtaining high-quality ultrasound images in clinical applications.

Abstract
Xuanbai Chengqi Decoction (XBCQD), a classic traditional Chinese medicine, has been widely used to treat COVID-19 in China with remarkable curative effect. However, the chemical composition and potential therapeutic mechanism is still unknown. Here, we used multiple open-source databases and literature mining to select compounds and potential targets for XBCQD. The COVID-19 related targets were collected from GeneCards and NCBI gene databases. After identifying putative targets of XBCQD for the treatment of COVID-19, PPI network was constructed by STRING database. The hub targets were extracted by Cytoscape 3.7.2 and MCODE analysis was carried out to extract modules in the PPI network. R 3.6.3 was used for GO enrichment and KEGG pathway analysis. The effective compounds were obtained via network pharmacology and bioinformatics analysis. Drug-likeness analysis and ADMET assessments were performed to select core compounds. Moreover, interactions between core compounds and hub targets were investigated through molecular docking, molecular dynamic (MD) simulations and MM-PBSA calculations. As a result, we collected 638 targets from 61 compounds of XBCQD and 845 COVID-19 related targets, of which 79 were putative targets. Based on the bioinformatics analysis, 10 core compounds and 34 hub targets of XBCQD for the treatment of COVID-19 were successfully screened. The enrichment analysis of GO and KEGG indicated that XBCQD mainly exerted therapeutic effects on COVID-19 by regulating signal pathways related to viral infection and inflammatory response. Meanwhile, the results of molecular docking showed that there was a stable binding between the core compounds and hub targets. Moreover, MD simulations and MM-PBSA analyses revealed that these compounds exhibited stable conformations and interacted well with hub targets during the simulations. In conclusion, our research comprehensively explained the multi-component, multi-target, and multi-pathway intervention mechanism of XBCQD in the treatment of COVID-19, which provided evidence and new insights for further research.

Abstract
Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) battery is strongly considered as one of the most promising energy storage systems due to its high theoretical energy density and low cost. However, the sluggish reduction kinetics from Li2 S4 to Li2 S during discharge hinders the practical application of Li-S batteries. Although various electrocatalysts have been proposed to improve the reaction kinetics, the electrocatalytic mechanism is unclear due to the complexity of sulfur reduction reactions (SRR). It is crucial to understand the electrocatalytic mechanism thoroughly for designing advanced electrocatalysts. Herein an electrocatalytic model is constructed to reveal the chemical mechanism of the SRR in Li-S batteries based on systematical density functional theory calculations, taking heteroatoms-doped carbon materials as an example. The adsorption energy of LiSy ⋅ (y=1, 2, or 3) radicals is used as a key descriptor to predict the reaction pathway, rate-determining step, and overpotential. A diagram for designing advanced electrocatalysts is accordingly constructed. This work establishes a theoretical model, which is an intelligent integration for probing the complicated SRR mechanisms and designing advanced electrocatalysts for high-performance Li-S batteries.

Abstract
Rice leaf blast is prevalent worldwide and a serious threat to rice yield and quality. Hyperspectral imaging is an emerging technology used in plant disease research. In this study, we calculated the standard deviation (STD) of the spectral reflectance of whole rice leaves and constructed support vector machine (SVM) and probabilistic neural network (PNN) models to classify the degree of rice leaf blast at different growth stages. Average accuracies at jointing, booting and heading stages under the full-spectrum-based SVM model were 88.89%, 85.26%, and 87.32%, respectively, versus 80%, 83.16%, and 83.41% under the PNN model. Average accuracies at jointing, booting and heading stages under the STD-based SVM model were 97.78%, 92.63%, and 92.20%, respectively, versus 88.89%, 91.58%, and 92.20% under the PNN model. The STD of the spectral reflectance of the whole leaf differed not only within samples with different disease grades, but also among those at the same disease level. Compared with raw spectral reflectance data, STDs performed better in assessing rice leaf blast severity.

Abstract
Among 2D materials (Xenes) which are at the forefront of research activities, borophene, is an exciting new entry due to its uniquely varied optical, electronic, and chemical properties in many polymorphic forms with widely varying band gaps including the lightest 2D metallic phase. In this paper, we used a simple selective chemical etching to prepare borophene with a strong near IR light-induced photothermal effect. The photothermal efficiency is similar to plasmonic Au nanoparticles, with the added benefit of borophene being degradable due to electron deficiency of boron. We introduce this selective chemical etching process to obtain ultrathin and large borophene nanosheets (thickness of ~4 nm and lateral size up to ~600 nm) from the precursor of AlB2. We also report first-time observation of a selective Acid etching behavior showing HCl etching of Al to form a residual B lattice, while HF selectively etches B to yield an Al lattice. We demonstrate that through surface modification with polydopamine (PDA), a biocompatible smart delivery nanoplatform of B@PDA can respond to a tumor environment, exhibiting an enhanced cellular uptake efficiency. We demonstrate that borophene can be more suitable for safe photothermal theranostic of thick tumor using deep penetrating near IR light compared to gold nanoparticles which are not degradable, thus posing long-term toxicity concerns. With about 40 kinds of borides, we hope that our work will open door to more discoveries of this top-down selective etching approach for generating borophene structures with rich unexplored thermal, electronic, and optical properties for many other technological applications.

Abstract
In this paper, two types of polymer-stabilized blue-phase liquid crystals (PS-BPLCs) with different monomers were designed and prepared. The morphology, temperature range and electro-optical properties of the blue phases were studied and discussed. The temperature range of both types of PS-BPLC is greater than 110 °C, and both samples can be stabilized well at room temperature. The organosilicone monomer 3-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (KH570), which contains double bonds, was introduced to a blue-phase system for the first time. Regarding the electro-optical performance, the on-state voltage of the PS-BPLCs with the KH570 monomer is reduced to 30 V compared with traditional C12A monomer systems in which the on-state voltage is 75 V at 458 nm. Abstract
Echinacea purpurea (EP) is a common medicinal material for extracting anti-RSV components. However, up to now, there has been no effective and simple method to comprehensively reflect the quality of EP. In our current study, the quality of Echinacea purpurea (L.) Moench samples from six different cultivation locations in China was evaluated by establishing a high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) fingerprint, combining chemical pattern recognition and multi-component determination. In this study, the chemical fingerprints of 15 common peaks were obtained using the similarity evaluation system of the chromatographic fingerprints of traditional Chinese medicine (2012A Edition). Among the 15 components, three phenolic acids (caftaric acid, chlorogenic acid and cichoric acid) were identified and determined. The similarity of fingerprints of 16 batches of Echinacea purpurea (L.) Moench samples ranged from 0.905 to 0.998. The similarity between fingerprints of five batches of commercially available Echinacea pupurea (L.) Moench and the standard fingerprint "R" ranged from 0.980 to 0.997, which proved the successful establishment of the fingerprint. PCA and HCA were performed with the relative peak areas of 15 common peaks (peak 3 as the reference peak) as variables. Anhui and Shaanxi can be successfully distinguished from the other four cultivation areas. In addition, the index components of caftaric acid, chlorogenic acid and cichoric acid were in the range of 1.77-8.60 mg/g, 0.02-0.20 mg/g and 2.27-15.87 mg/g. The results of multi-component index content determination show that the contents of the Shandong cultivation area were higher, followed by Gansu, Henan and Hebei, and the lowest were Anhui and Shaanxi. The results are consistent with PCA and HCA, which proved that the quality of Echinacea purpurea (L.) Moench from different origins was different. HPLC fingerprint combined with chemical pattern recognition and multi-component content determination was a reliable, comprehensive and prospective method for evaluating the quality of Echinacea purpurea (L.) Moench. This method provides a scientific basis for the quality control and evaluation of Echinacea purpurea (L.) Moench.

Abstract
Background Novel motor skills are generally acquired through repetitive practices which are believed to be strongly related to neural plasticity mechanisms. This study aimed to investigate the learning-relative hemodynamic modulation of cortical plasticity induced by long-term motor training. Methods An 8-day participation-control program was conducted. Eighteen right-handed healthy participants were recruited and randomly assigned into the training (12) and control groups (6). The training group were arranged to undergo the 8-day block-designed motor training which required to repeat a visuomotor force-control task. The functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) was used to continuously monitor the cortical hemodynamic response during training. Two transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) measurements were performed before and after training to evaluate the cortical excitability changes. The transfer effects of learning were also investigated. Results The behavior performance was quantified via score execution accuracy to illustrate the fast/slow learning stages as experience cumulated. The cortical hemodynamic activations mapped by fNIRS exhibited a temporal evolution trends that agreed the expansion–renormalization model, which assumed the brain modulation against skill acquisition includes complex mechanisms of neural expansion, selection, and renormalization. Functional connectivity (FC) analysis showed the FC strength was maintained, while the measured homodynamic activation returned to baseline after certain level of skill acquisition. Furthermore, the TMS results demonstrated a significant increase of motor evoked potential (MEP) on the targeted muscle for the trained participants, who significantly outperformed the untrained subjects in learning transfer investigation. Conclusion The study illustrated the expansion–renormalization trends during continuous motor training, and relative analysis showed the functional connectivity enhancement may be maintained after amplitude renormalization of cortical hemodynamic activations. The TMS findings further gave an implication of neural facilitations on the descending motor pathway when brain activation returned to renormalization status after certain level of learning stages was achieved, and the learning can transfer to enhance the performance while encountering similar tasks.

Abstract
As a traditional Chinese medicine, Forsythia suspensa (F. suspensa) has attracted much attention due to its significant pharmacological activity. Revealing the spatial distribution of metabolites during F. suspensa development is important for understanding its biosynthesis rules and improving the quality of medicinal materials. However, there is currently a lack of information on the spatial distribution of F. suspensa metabolites. In this work, the spatial distribution and growth metabolism patterns of important metabolites of F. suspensa were studied for the first time using matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI-MSI). Using 2,5-dimethylnaphthalene (DAN) as the matrix and detecting in negative ion mode, the spatial distribution and growth patterns of 11 metabolites obtained from longitudinal sections of F. suspensa included pinoresinol, phillygenin, forsythoside A, forsythoside E, rutin, caffeic acid, malic acid, citric acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, and linoleic acid. These results showed the mesocarp and endosperm tissues of F. suspensa were important for storing important functional metabolites. Changes in mesocarp and endosperm growth and development tissues caused large changes in the content of important functional metabolites in F. suspensa. These results provide a basis for understanding the spatial distribution of metabolites in F. suspensa tissues and the significant changes that occur during growth and development, exploring the mechanism of important synthesis of metabolites, regulating the harvest of F. suspensa, and improving the quality of medicinal herbs.

Abstract
Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries have great potential as high-energy-density energy storage devices. Electrocatalysts are widely adopted to accelerate the cathodic sulfur redox kinetics. The interactions among the electrocatalysts, solvents, and lithium salts significantly determine the actual performance of working Li-S batteries. Herein, lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI), a commonly used lithium salt, is identified to aggravate surface gelation on the MoS2 electrocatalyst. In detail, the trifluoromethanesulfonyl group in LiTFSI interacts with the Lewis acidic sites on the MoS2 electrocatalyst to generate an electron-deficient center. The electron-deficient center with high Lewis acidity triggers cationic polymerization of the 1,3-dioxolane solvent and generates a surface gel layer that reduces the electrocatalytic activity. To address the above issue, Lewis basic salt lithium iodide (LiI) is introduced to block the interaction between LiTFSI and MoS2 and inhibit the surface gelation. Consequently, the Li-S batteries with the MoS2 electrocatalyst and the LiI additive realize an ultrahigh actual energy density of 416 W h kg-1 at the pouch cell level. This work affords an effective lithium salt to boost the electrocatalytic activity in practical working Li-S batteries and deepens the fundamental understanding of the interactions among electrocatalysts, solvents, and salts in energy storage systems.

Abstract
Group B Streptococcus (GBS) is a leading cause of adverse pregnancy outcomes due to invasive infection. This study investigated longitudinal variation in GBS rectovaginal colonization, serum and vaginal GBS capsular polysaccharide (CPS)-specific antibody levels. Non-pregnant women were recruited in the UK and were sampled every 2 weeks over a 12-week period. GBS isolates were taken from recto-vaginal swabs and serotyped by polymerase chain reaction. Serum and vaginal immunoglobulin G (IgG) and nasal immunoglobulin A (IgA) specific to CPS were measured by Luminex, and total IgG/A by ELISA. Seventy women were enrolled, of median age 26. Out of the 66 participants who completed at least three visits: 14/47 (29.8%) women that were GBS negative at screening became positive in follow-up visits and 16/19 (84.2%) women who were GBS positive at screening became negative. There was 50% probability of becoming negative 36 days after the first positive swab. The rate of detectable GBS carriage fluctuated over time, although serum, vaginal, and nasal CPS-specific antibody levels remained constant. Levels of CPS-specific antibodies were higher in the serum of individuals colonized with GBS than in non-colonized, but similar in the vaginal and nasal mucosa. We found correlations between antibody levels in serum and the vaginal and nasal mucosa. Our study demonstrates the feasibility of elution methods to retrieve vaginal and nasal antibodies, and the optimization of immunoassays to measure GBS-CPS-specific antibodies. The difference between the dynamics of colonization and antibody response is interesting and further investigation is required for vaccine development.

Abstract
Chicoric acid has been widely used in food, medicine, animal husbandry, and other commercial products because of its significant pharmacological activities. However, the shortage of chicoric acid limits its further development and utilization. Currently, Echinacea purpurea (L.) Moench serves as the primary natural resource of chicoric acid, while other sources of it are poorly known. Extracting chicoric acid from plants is the most common approach. Meanwhile, chicoric acid levels vary in different plants as well as in the same plant from different areas and different medicinal parts, and different extraction methods. We comprehensively reviewed the information regarding the sources of chicoric acid from plant extracts, its chemical synthesis, biosynthesis, and bioactive effects.
