Abstract
OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to assess the clinical significance of microRNA-4429 (miR-4429) in the development and prognosis of ovarian cancer, and to explore the regulatory role of miR-4429 in migratory potential of ovarian cancer cells. PATIENTS AND METHODS MiR-4429 levels in paired ovarian cancer species and paracancerous ones were examined. Then, the relationship between miR-4429 level and clinical features of ovarian cancer patients was analyzed. Potential influences of miR-4429 on migratory potentials in CAOV3 and SKOV3 cells were explored by transwell assay. After that, the interaction between miR-4429 and its downstream gene YOD1, and their involvement in the malignant development of ovarian cancer were finally demonstrated through Luciferase assay and rescue experiments. RESULTS The results revealed that miR-4429 was downregulated in ovarian cancer tissues and cell lines. Its level was significantly correlated with rates of lymphatic metastasis (p=0.018) and distant metastasis (p=0.012) but not with age, tumor size, and tumor stage in ovarian cancer patients. Survival analysis uncovered that a low level of miR-4429 was unfavorable to PFS and OS in ovarian cancer patients. Besides, the overexpression of miR-4429 inhibited migratory potential in CAOV3 cells, and conversely, the knockdown of miR-4429 in SKOV3 cells obtained the opposite result. Moreover, YOD1 was proved to be the downstream gene binding to miR-4429. It was highly expressed in ovarian cancer tissues and negatively regulated by miR-4429. Rescue experiments finally identified that YOD1 was responsible for migratory potential changes in ovarian cancer cells regulated by miR-4429. CONCLUSIONS MiR-4429 is downregulated in ovarian cancer tissues, and its level is closely linked to metastasis and prognosis in ovarian cancer patients. By negatively regulating YOD1 level, miR-4429 suppresses the malignant development of ovarian cancer.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) is a common complication after general anesthesia in the elderly people. Dual-specificity phosphatase 14 (DUSP14, also known as MKP6) has been implicated in the pathogenesis of various inflammatory diseases. However, the exact role and mechanism of DUSP14 in POCD remains unclear. MATERIALS AND METHODS An isoflurane exposure induced POCD aged rat model was successfully constructed. The pathological changes of hippocampal tissues of aged rats were detected by Nissl staining. Evaluation of learning and memory abilities in aged rats was measured using Morris water maze task test. The DUSP14 level was detected by immunohistochemistry (IHC) assay, quantitative Real Time-Polymerase Chain Reaction (qRT-PCR) and Western blot, respectively. Levels of brain injury markers [S-100β and neuron specific enolase (NSE)] and inflammatory cytokines [interleukin (IL)-1β (tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α and IL-6] were detected using Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) or qRT-PCR. The apoptosis of hippocampal nerve cells was assessed by Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling (TUNEL) assay. Western blot assay was used to measure the expression of proteins related to apoptosis, pyroptosis and NOD-like receptor family pyrin domain-containing 3 (NLRP3)-Caspase-1 pathway. RESULTS Isoflurane exposure led to brain injury, inflammatory response, cognitive dysfunction in aged rats and decreased the expression of DUSP14. Overexpression of DUSP14 could inhibit apoptosis, inflammation, pyroptosis, brain tissue damage, and improve cognitive dysfunction of aged rats after isoflurane anesthesia. Further mechanism studies revealed that DUSP14 may play a neuroprotective effect on POCD by regulating NLRP3 inflammasome-mediated pyroptosis. CONCLUSIONS DUSP14 may effectively protect against isoflurane-induced neuro-inflammation, brain damage and cognitive dysfunction, indicating that DUSP14 may be a potential predictor and therapeutic target for POCD.

Abstract
The selection of low-radioactive construction materials is of utmost importance for the success of low-energy rare event search experiments. Besides radioactive contaminants in the bulk, the emanation of radioactive radon atoms from material surfaces attains increasing relevance in the effort to further reduce the background of such experiments. In this work, we present the 222 Rn emanation measurements performed for the XENON1T dark matter experiment. Together with the bulk impurity screening campaign, the results enabled us to select the radio-purest construction materials, targeting a 222 Rn activity concentration of 10 μ Bq / kg in 3.2 t of xenon. The knowledge of the distribution of the 222 Rn sources allowed us to selectively eliminate problematic components in the course of the experiment. The predictions from the emanation measurements were compared to data of the 222 Rn activity concentration in XENON1T. The final 222 Rn activity concentration of ( 4.5 ± 0.1 ) μ Bq / kg in the target of XENON1T is the lowest ever achieved in a xenon dark matter experiment.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Colorectal cancer is a common malignancy and a common cause of tumor-related death. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have become an important regulatory factor and tissue specific biomarker for a variety of cancers, including colorectal cancer. Recent evidence indicates that the novel lncRNA SLC30A10 plays an important role in tumor progression and metastasis. However, its role and molecular mechanisms in colorectal cancer are unclear. PATIENTS AND METHODS SLC30A10 expression was detected in 12 colorectal cancer and adjacent normal tissues by quantitative reverse transcription PCR. Insights into the underlying mechanisms of competitive endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) were determined by transwell assay, CCK8 assay, and luciferase assay. RESULTS SLC30A10 was down-regulated in colorectal cancer tissues and cell lines, and its low expression was positively correlated with colorectal cancer progression and metastasis. Functionally, SLC30A10 depletion promotes cell proliferation and migration in colorectal cancer cells, while SLC30A10 overexpression has the opposite effect. Bioinformatics prediction and luciferase assay indicated that miR-21c is a direct target of SLC30A10, which plays the role of ceRNA in regulating colorectal cancer metastasis. In addition, miR-21c specifically targets APC gene. CONCLUSIONS Our findings suggest that reduced expression of SLC30A10 is associated with aggressive tumor phenotypes and poor patient outcomes in colorectal cancer. SLC30A10 inhibits colorectal cancer progression and metastasis by acting as a ceRNA for miR-21c to regulate APC expression, suggesting that SLC30A10 may serve as a potential prognostic biomarker and anti-metastatic therapeutic target for colorectal cancer.

Abstract
We have performed cross-sectional scanning capacitance microscopy (SCM), cathodoluminescence (CL) microscopy in the scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) all on the same few-micron region of a GaN/sapphire sample. To achieve this, it was necessary to develop a process flow which allowed the same features viewed in a cleaved cross-section to be traced from one microscope to the next and to adapt the focused ion beam preparation of the TEM lamella to allow preparation of a site-specific sample on a pre-cleaved cross-section. Growth of our GaN/sapphire samples involved coalescence of three-dimensional islands to form a continuous film. Highly doped marker layers were included in the sample so that coalescence boundaries formed late in the film growth process could be identified in SCM and CL. Using TEM, we then identified one or more dislocations associated with each of several such late-coalescing boundaries. In contrast, previous studies have addressed coalescence boundaries formed earlier in the growth process and have shown that early-stage island coalescence does not lead to dislocation formation.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE In recent years, studies have found that abnormally expressed long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) is closely associated with the progression of breast cancer (BCa). Some lncRNAs have been identified to be involved in the regulation of BCa cell invasion and metastasis. In this research, LINC00665 was found to be abnormally expressed in BCa tissues and cells, and its regulatory effects on invasion and metastasis of BCa were explored. The aim of this study was to investigate the expression characteristics of LINC00665 in BCa, and its regulatory role in BCa progression. PATIENTS AND METHODS LINC00665 expressions in BCa tissue samples and normal ones were collected from GEPIA database. The expression of LINC00665 in BCa tissues and cell lines was further confirmed by quantitative Real Time-Polymerase Chain Reaction (qRT-PCR). After knockdown of LINC00665 expression in BCa cells by transfection of small interfering RNA, cell migration and invasion abilities were examined by cell wound healing and transwell assay. Expressions of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related markers in BCa cells were examined using qRT-PCR and Western blot. RESULTS LINC00665 was highly expressed in BCa tissues and cell lines, and the high expression of LINC00665 could be used to predict a poor prognosis of BCa patients. In addition, the results of in vitro cell experiments showed that the migration and invasion ability of BCa cells were remarkably attenuated after downregulation of LINC00665. At the same time, qRT-PCR and Western blot results revealed that downregulation of LINC00665 was able to inhibit the expressions of EMT-related genes in BCa cells. CONCLUSIONS LINC00665 is highly expressed in BCa tissues and cell lines, which could predict poor prognosis of BCa patients. In addition, LINC00665 may promote the malignant metastasis of BCa cells by affecting the EMT process.

Abstract
We report on a search for nuclear recoil signals from solar ^{8}B neutrinos elastically scattering off xenon nuclei in XENON1T data, lowering the energy threshold from 2.6 to 1.6 keV. We develop a variety of novel techniques to limit the resulting increase in backgrounds near the threshold. No significant ^{8}B neutrinolike excess is found in an exposure of 0.6 t×y. For the first time, we use the nondetection of solar neutrinos to constrain the light yield from 1-2 keV nuclear recoils in liquid xenon, as well as nonstandard neutrino-quark interactions. Finally, we improve upon world-leading constraints on dark matter-nucleus interactions for dark matter masses between 3 and 11 GeV c^{-2} by as much as an order of magnitude.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
Genetic polymorphisms of key proteins involved in clopidogrel absorption, metabolism, and action may contribute to variability in platelet inhibition in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), but their impacts on cardiovascular outcomes remain unclear.
Purpose
To examine the associations between genetic polymorphisms and cardiovascular outcomes in Chinese patients undergoing PCI and treated with clopidogrel and aspirin.
Methods
This prospective cohort study consecutively enrolled 2,453 post-PCI patients treated with clopidogrel and aspirin. Adenosine diphosphate-induced platelet aggregation was measured by light transmission aggregometry. A total of 40 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of 18 genes selected according to published studies were investigated using an improved multiplex ligation detection reaction technique. The primary outcome was major adverse cardiovascular event (MACE), the composite of cardiovascular death, non-fatal myocardial infarction (MI), and ischemic stroke within one year after PCI.
Results
We restricted the analyses to the first 1,452 patients who had finished one-year follow-up and complete data on genotyping and platelet aggregation. 44 (3.03%) patients suffered MACE. Among the 40 SNPs, only the A-allele carriers of CYP2C19*2 had a significant higher risk of MACE (adjusted HR 2.05; 95% CI, 1.01–4.19; p=0.048) and platelet aggregation than non-A-carriers after adjusting age, sex, MI presentation, and left ventricular ejection fraction. CYP2C19*3, CYP2B6 rs3745274, and PEAR1 rs12041331 variants were also significantly associated with platelet aggregation (all p<0.05) but not with MACE at 1 year.
Conclusion
About 54.2% of Chinese patients with PCI were A-allele carriers of CYP2C19*2, who face a two-fold higher risk of MACE than non-A-allele carriers in Chinese patients after PCI. It would help identify low clopidogrel responders and optimize antiplatelet therapy before drug administration.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
We have previously shown, using 24-hour ABPM monitoring, that diastolic blood pressure (DBP) in a large referral population, containing both males and females, increases until age 42 years, following which DBP falls progressively. This occurs in the hypertensive population some 13 years sooner than previous general population studies. There is conflicting emerging data on sex differences in the lifelong trajectory of both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
Purpose
To examine sex-specific patterns of diastolic blood pressure throughout the lifespan of patients referred for 24-hour ABPMs.
Methods
Our database was searched for all 24-hour ABPMs. We used the average 24-hour SBP and DBP for this analysis. Scatter grams were produced for age versus systolic BP (SBP) and DBP for both males and females. Second order polynomial regression was performed on the DBP scatter grams for both genders and their inflection points calculated. The inflection point is the age at which the DBP on the polynomial curve where the slope changes from positive to negative. This, inflection point, corresponds to the age at which DBP begins to decrease. The DBP polynomial curves for males and females were then superimposed to show any gender differences.
Results
There were 30,513 24-hour analysable ABPMs over 24 years, representing 97% of all ABPMs. There were 15,913 females aged 60.8±14.6 years (range 15–97 years) and 14,600 males aged 58.8±14.2 years (range 15–100 years). As can be seen from the charts below, in females DBP begins to fall at a very early age of 22.3 years, whereas in males the diastolic BP begins to fall at 46.5 years.
Conclusions
There are significant sex differences in the changes in DBP with increasing age. For the first 35 years DBP is higher in women, thereafter DBP is lower in females and only intersects again much later in life at 95 years. The significance of this sex difference is unclear but may explain the increased prevalence of systolic hypertension in elderly females.

Abstract
Egg-type ducks and meat-type ducks are predominantly commercial or indigenous and have been subjected to artificial directional selection. These two duck types differ substantially in body shape, production performance and reproductivity. However, the genetic changes associated with phenotypic differences remain unclear. Here, we compared the two duck types at the genomic and transcriptomic levels. We identified a large number of SNPs and genes in genomic divergent regions in terms of FST and θπ values. The corresponding genes were mainly enriched in embryonic development function and metabolic pathway. RNA-seq analysis also revealed differential gene expression in the liver and gonads. The differentially expressed genes were functionally associated with signal transmission and substance metabolism respectively. Furthermore, we found that seven genes were related to differentiation between the two types by both g genome and transcriptome analysis and were plausible candidate genes. These genes were annotated to GO categories of cell development and disease immunity. These findings will enable a better understanding of the artificial selection history of meat and egg ducks and provide a valuable resource for future research on the breeding of these two lineages.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the effects of rosuvastatin on nerve cell apoptosis in rats with cerebral ischemic stroke through Sirt1/NF-κB pathway. MATERIALS AND METHODS 30 model rats were divided into three groups: normal group, stroke group (rats with cerebral ischemic stroke) and stroke+RVT group (cerebral ischemic stroke rats treated with rosuvastatin). The expression of Sirt1/NF-κB, areas of stroke infarction, cell cycles, as well as apoptosis situation in different groups were detected by Western Blot, immunohistochemistry, histomorphological observation, triphenyl tetrazolium chloride (TTC) staining and flow cytometry as well as immunofluorescent staining. RESULTS Optical microscope observation showed cells in normal group presented complete and clear cellular hierarchical structure, regular cell arrangement, bluish violet cell nucleus and pink cytoplasm. No damage or necrosis was observed under normal condition. In stroke group, the boundary line between cytoplasm and nucleus was blurry and some apoptosis bodies were also observed. However, after rosuvastatin treatment, necrosis disappeared in stroke+RVT group. Western Blot analysis showed that the expression of SIRT1 decreased and NF-κB elevated in stroke group compared with those in normal group (p<0.05). However, rosuvastatin could reverse the effects of stroke on SIRT1 and NF-κB (p<0.05). The results of immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescent staining also confirmed our findings in SIRT1 and NF-κB expression after stroke. The areas of cerebral infarction increased significantly in stroke group and this effect could also be reversed by rosuvastatin treatment (p<0.05). Besides, cell cycle detection also showed that rosuvastatin treatment could inhibit the shortening of G1, S as well as G2 periods in cell cycles after stoke (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS Rosuvastatin may have great effects on improving cerebral infarction condition in rats with cerebral ischemic stroke. The mechanisms may be through Sirt1/ NF-κB pathway, thereby reducing the apoptosis rate and improving cell cycle of brain cells.

Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is a mosquito-borne alphavirus known to cause epidemics resulting in predominantly symptomatic infections, which in rare cases cause long term debilitating arthritis and arthralgia. Significant progress has been made in understanding the roles of canonical RNA sensing pathways in the host recognition of CHIKV; however, less is known regarding antagonism of CHIKV by cytosolic DNA sensing pathways like that of cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS) and Stimulator of Interferon Genes (STING). With the use of cGAS or STING null cells we demonstrate that the pathway restricts CHIKV replication in fibroblasts and immune cells. We show that DNA accumulates in the cytoplasm of infected cells and that CHIKV blocks DNA dependent IFN-β transcription. This antagonism of DNA sensing is via an early autophagy-mediated degradation of cGAS and expression of the CHIKV capsid protein is sufficient to induce cGAS degradation. Furthermore, we identify an interaction of CHIKV nsP1 with STING and map the interaction to 23 residues in the cytosolic loop of the adaptor protein. This interaction stabilizes the viral protein and increases the level of palmitoylated nsP1 in cells. Together, this work supports previous publications highlighting the relevance of the cGAS-STING pathway in the early detection of (+)ssRNA viruses and provides direct evidence that CHIKV interacts with and antagonizes cGAS-STING signaling.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of micro ribonucleic acid (miR)-210 on the apoptosis of vascular endothelial cells in arteriosclerosis obliterans (ASO) through the Janus kinase-signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK-STAT) signaling pathway. PATIENTS AND METHODS In the present work, the vascular endothelial cells in ASO patients were selected as objects of study, the cell lines with miR-210 interference and overexpression were constructed with the Crisp/Case9 technique for subsequent experiments as experimental group, and the aortic endothelial cells of a healthy human were used as control group. First, the changes in the transcriptional and translational levels of such genes as JAK2 and STAT3 in the JAK-STAT signaling pathway in cell lines with miR-210 interference and overexpression were detected via fluorescence quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR) and Western blotting. The changes in the transcriptional and translational levels of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) in cells were detected in experimental group and control group to clarify the regulatory effect of miR-210 on the JAK-STAT signaling pathway. At the same time, the cell proliferation in experimental group and control group was observed via methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) assay and the apoptosis rate was detected in both groups via flow cytometry. RESULTS The results of fluorescence qPCR and Western blotting revealed that the expression level of miR-210 was significantly increased in cells of ASO patients compared with that in aortic endothelial cells of healthy human with a significant difference (p<0.05). At the same time, the inhibition on miR-210 could significantly reduce the transcriptional and translational levels of JAK2, STAT3, and NOS, block the JAK-STAT signaling pathway, suppress the cell proliferation, and promote apoptosis. The overexpression of miR-210 could markedly increase the transcriptional and translational levels of JAK2, STAT3, and NOS, activate the JAK-STAT signaling pathway, promote the cell proliferation, and suppress the apoptosis. CONCLUSIONS MiR-210 can be involved in the apoptosis process of vascular endothelial cells in ASO through the JAK-STAT signaling pathway.

Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of the first domestic ACYW135 meningococcal conjugate vaccine and a control vaccine named AC group meningococcal conjugate vaccine for 3 months (90-119 days) infants. Methods: From February 2017 to June 2018, a randomized, blinded, and similar vaccine-controlled clinical trial design was adopted at the Henan Vaccine Clinical Research Base. The subjects were 3 months old healthy infants, a total of 720, based on a 1∶1 ratio. The random allocation table for entry was randomly assigned to the experimental group and the control group. According to the 3, 4, and 5 month-old vaccination procedures, the subjects were vaccinated with test vaccine (ACYW135 group meningococcal conjugate vaccine) and control vaccine (group A group C meningococcal polysaccharide conjugate vaccine), of which 720 were given the first dose, 696 were given the second dose (test group: 346; control group: 350), and 692 were given the third dose (test group: 344; Control group: 348). Results: The overall adverse reaction rate of the test vaccine was 21.90% (230 cases), which was lower than the 32.04% (339 cases) of the control vaccine (P<0.001). The incidence of systemic adverse reactions was 19.52% (205 cases), which was lower than that of the control vaccine (27.69%) (293 cases) (P<0.001). The local adverse reaction rate was 3.04% (32 cases), which was lower than the control group (7.84%) (83 cases) (P<0.001). The graded adverse reaction test vaccine was 0.57% (6 cases), which was lower than the control group of 2.36% (25 cases) (P<0.001). The positive conversion rate of anti-bacterial serum antibodies showed that there was no significant difference between the test vaccine group A (91.42%), C (88.76%) and the control vaccine (92.92%) (87.02%) (P>0.05). Group Y and W135 was 88.17% (298 cases), 99.41% (336 cases), respectively. The GMT results showed that the test vaccine group A was 56.24, the control vaccine was 57.43 (P>0.05); the group C test vaccine (43.53) was higher than the control group (27.28) (P<0.001). The group Y and W135 are 89.22 and 140.66, respectively. Among them, the proportion of the group C GMT antibody ≥ 1∶128 for test vaccine (31.07%, 105 cases) was higher than the control vaccine (16.22%, 55 cases) (P<0.001). Conclusion: ACYW135 group meningococcal conjugate vaccine has more safety and immunogenicity after application to 3 month old infants.

Abstract
This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of the EC-T (4 cycles of epirubicin 90 mg/m2 + cyclophosphamide 600 mg/m2, followed by 4 cycles of docetaxel 75 mg/m2) and TCb (6 cycles of docetaxel 75 mg/m2, intravenous drip (ID), day 1 + carboplatin AUC 6, ID, day 1) neoadjuvant regimens in patients with TOP2A-normal stage II-III breast cancer. This study analyzed 280 patients enrolled from three studies registered with ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT03140553, NCT03154749, NCT03507465) with early TOP2A-normal stage II-III breast cancer who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy, including 100 patients who received the EC-T regimen and 180 patients who received the TCb regimen. The primary endpoint was the ratio of RCB 0/1 (residual cancer burden 0/1) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The secondary endpoint was the safety of the two groups. There was no significant difference in the ratio of RCB 0/1 between the two groups (23% vs. 23.9%, p=0.614). Among the triple-negative breast cancer patients, the efficacy did not differ between the two groups (40% vs. 32%, p=0.52). Among the lymph node metastasis patients, the efficacy of the EC-T group was significantly better than that of the TCb group (14% vs. 2.6%, p=0.03). Regarding the side effects, the incidence of grade 3/4 anemia was higher in the EC-T group than in the TCb group (21.0% vs. 8.33%, p=0.002), while the incidence of grade 3/4 neutropenia was higher in the EC-T group than in the TCb group (17% vs. 14.44%, p=0.570), and the incidence of grade 3/4 thrombocytopenia was low in each group (EC-T group: 6 % and TCb group: 7.22%, p=0.697). In the EC-T group, grade 3/4 nausea and vomiting occurred in 5 patients. The EC-T group showed a higher rate of grade 3/4 myalgia than the TCb group (7% and 4.44%, respectively, p=0.363). To conclude, the TCb regimen can be used as an alternative regimen for TOP2A-normal stage II-III breast cancer patients in neoadjuvant chemotherapy. However, in patients with node-positive tumors, EC-T is still recommended. Though no difference of grade 3/4 thrombocytopenia in two groups, grade 4 thrombocytopenia caused by the carboplatin-containing regimen should be taken seriously.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore some morphological features of the eyebrows of women of different ethnicities and ages. MATERIALS AND METHODS Standard digital photographs of 3600 women of six ethnicities, aged 18-84 years, previously used to describe the morphology of the human eyes, allowed us to focus on their eyebrows, as supplementary and opportunistic study. Photographs of both eyebrows were analysed partly by manual markings and automatically by dedicated algorithms. Six parameters of the eyebrows were recorded: length, waviness/curvature, oblique aspect, size (vertical height), total surface and hair coverage (density). RESULTS Most criteria present ethnic specificities. These are: length (longer eyebrows of Indian, shorter among African women); waviness where the straighter eyebrows were found among Chinese and Japanese women. In general, the longer the eyebrows, the higher their waviness and vice versa. Thickness (or height) of the eyebrows presents a wide ethnic variability as well as hair coverage, where African women present the lower hair density, inversely to Indian women. The same holds true with regard to the total surface of eyebrows, of a large variability (by about four times). Some criteria appear more individually dependent than ethnic-specific, such as the oblique positioning, at the exception of Indian women with less oblique eyebrows. In all subjects, the criteria of both eyebrows (Left vs. Right) were found to be highly correlated (r > 0.7, P < 0.001). CONCLUSION The present investigation brings new findings on a scarcely studied facial element, the morphologic features of which are, for most, ethnic-dependent. As applied consequences, the results of the present work pave the road to better adapt adorning procedures of the eyebrows vis-à-vis ethnic and age specificities.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the spatio-temporal characteristics of Oncomelania hupensis snails along the Danyang section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the Danyang-Jintan-Liyang Canal, so as to provide scientific evidence for the dynamic assessment of the risk of snail spread in this region. METHODS O. hupensis snail status was collected in the plain regions with waterway networks in the study area from 2012 to 2017. The spatio-temporal variations of snail distribution were investigated along the Danyang section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the Danyang-Jintan-Liyang Canal using buffer zone analysis, spatial autocorrelation, hotspot analysis and standard deviational ellipse with the geographical information system (GIS) tools. RESULTS The number of snail habitats showed a tendency towards a rise in the study area from 2012 to 2017, and snail habitats were predominantly distributed in the 1 000 m long buffer zone of the Danyang-Jintan-Liyang Canal, notably along the Jiuqu River at the junction between the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the Danyang-Jintan-Liyang Canal. The distribution of snail habitats appeared spatial autocorrelations in 2014, 2016 and 2017, and the hotspot areas were mainly identified at the junction between the Danyang-Jintan-Liyang Canal and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. In addition, the overall distribution of snail habitats was located in the northeastern-southwestern part of the study aera, and gradually shifted to the southern and northern parts with the time. CONCLUSIONS The spatial distribution of O. hupensis snails is complex along the Danyang section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the Danyang-Jintan-Liyang Canal, and there is a risk of snail spread from the upper reaches to the lower reaches, where snail control needs to be intensified.

Abstract
The rate of hyperglycaemia in people around the world is increasing at an alarming rate at present, and innovative methods of alleviating hyperglycaemia are needed. The effects of Jerusalem artichoke inulin on hyperglycaemia, liver-related genes and the intestinal microbiota in mice fed a high-fat diet (HFD) and treated with streptozotocin (STZ) to induce hyperglycaemia were investigated. Inulin-treated hyperglycaemic mice had decreased average daily food consumption, body weight, average daily water consumption and relative liver weight and blood concentrations of TAG, total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol and fasting blood glucose. Liver-related gene expressions in hyperglycaemic (HFD-fed and STZ-treated) compared with control mice showed eighty-four differentially expressed genes (forty-nine up-regulated and thirty-five down-regulated). In contrast, hyperglycaemic mice treated with inulin had twenty-two differentially expressed genes compared with control ones. Using Illumina high-throughput sequencing technology, the rarefaction and the rank abundance curves as well as the α diversity indices showed the treatment-induced differences in bacterial diversity in intestine. The linear discriminant analysis of effect size showed that the inulin treatment improved intestinal microbiota; in particular, it significantly increased the number of Bacteroides in the intestine of mice. In conclusion, inulin is potentially an effective functional food for the prevention and/or treatment of hyperglycaemia.

Abstract
Abstract
INTRODUCTION
The current obesity epidemic has an impact on calculated BSA, significantly increasing the calculated BSA from what the ideal BSA would be if based on a patient’s ideal body weight.
PURPOSE
To determine the effect of ideal BSA on AV area index in patients with low-flow, low-gradient severe aortic stenosis and normal left ventricular function.
METHODS
Our ECHO database was searched for all patients with an LVEF >50%, a mean aortic gradient of <40 mmHg, an AV area <1.00cm2, AVA index <0.60cm2/m2 and SV index <35ml/m2. Patients with atrial fibrillation, mechanical and bioprosthetic valves, any valve repair, HOCM, Amyloidosis, more than mild aortic regurgitation, moderate mitral regurgitation, any wall motion abnormality despite normal LVEF, Pacemaker or ICD or a moderate pericardial effusion were excluded. Ideal weight was calculated using the Devine formula = Constant + 2.3 x [height in inches-60], where constant= 50Kg in males and 45.5Kg in females). Body surface area in m2 was calculated using the formula = [√ (height in cm x weight in kg)/3600]. The paired t-test was used to determine differences between means and the Fisher’s exact test was used to determine differences between proportions. A p value of <0.05 was considered significant.
RESULTS
There were 73 females (mean age 76.2 ± 11.3 years, mean AV gradient 27.2 ± 7.4 mmHg, mean AVA 0.82 ± 0.11 cm2 and mean LVEF of 64.9 ± 5.4%) and 55 males (mean age 76.1 ± 9.8 years, mean AV gradient 29.9 ± 7.2 mmHg, mean AVA 0.85 ± 0.11 cm2and mean LVEF of 62.2 ± 5.7%). Other important variables are seen in table 1. Based on the corrected ideal BSA there were 0 of 55 male patients who were re-assigned to the moderate AS category, compared to 25 of 73 (34.2%) female patients (P < 0.0001, Fisher’s exact test).
CONCLUSIONS
Use of the corrected ideal BSA has no effect on the hemodynamic diagnosis of low-flow, low gradient, normal LVEF severe aortic stenosis in males, but has a significant effect of the same diagnosis in females. It is therefore recommended that ideal body weight and ideal BSA be used when calculating AVA index in female patients suspected of low-flow, low-gradient severe aortic stenosis with normal ventricular function.

Abstract
Abstract
INTRODUCTION
The current obesity epidemic has an impact on calculated BSA. Obesity significantly increases the calculated BSA from what the ideal BSA would be if based on a patient’s ideal body weight.
PURPOSE
To determine the effect of ideal BSA on AV area index in patients with moderate aortic stenosis and normal left ventricular function.
METHODS
Our ECHO database was searched for all patients with an LVEF >50% and moderate aortic stenosis based on a mean aortic gradient of 20-39 mmHg and an AV area >1.00 cm2. Patients with more than mild aortic regurgitation, previous valvular repair or replacement, significant mitral valve disease or any LV wall motion abnormalities were excluded.
RESULTS
There were 210 females (mean age 75.4 ± 11.9 years, mean AV gradient 25.3 ± 4.8 mmHg, mean AVA 1.28 ± 0.27 cm2) and 385 males (mean age 72.7 ± 11.3 years, mean AV gradient 25.9 ± 5.2 mmHg, mean AVA 1.32 ± 0.28 cm2). Other important variables are seen in table 1. There were highly significant differences between actual and ideal measurements of weight, BSA and AV area index. Based on the actual BSA there were 151 of 385 male patients (39.2%) with severe aortic stenosis (<0.60 cm2/m2), which dropped to 66 of 385 patients (17.1%) when the ideal BSA was used in the calculation (P < 0.0001, Fisher’s exact test). For females there were 44 of 210 patients with severe aortic stenosis (21.0%) which dropped to 3 (1.4%) when the ideal BSA was used in the calculation (P < 0.0001, Fisher’s exact test).
CONCLUSIONS
Use of the ideal BSA, based on ideal weight, significantly reclassifies women in terms of AS severity and will be consistent throughout time. All mean aortic gradients and AV areas, by definition, and 98.6% of the ideal AV area indices being in the moderate AS range. The data is less compelling in males but is still significantly improved with 82.9% of AV area indices being correctly assigned.
