Abstract
Background Ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn’s disease (CD) are chronic inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) that affect a significant portion of women in childbearing years. It is known that disease activity in early pregnancy negatively impacts obstetrical and perinatal outcomes, but the impact on infant growth is largely unknown. Aims The objective of this study was to compare the growth of infants born to women with active IBD during pregnancy versus those born to women with IBD in remission during pregnancy. Methods We conducted a prospective cohort study in a Canadian tertiary centre comprised of 98 pregnant women with IBD (63 with UC and 35 with CD) and 13 healthy pregnant women. We collected maternal demographic at trimester 1 and assessed disease activity at each trimester using clinical disease scores and fecal calprotectin. We then collected perinatal outcomes at delivery and followed the infants’ growth and feeding habits up to 12 months of age. Results A total of 103 mother-infant pairs were included in the study, of which 88 infants were born to women with IBD, and 15 born to women with active disease at trimester 1. Active disease at trimester 1 was associated with more adverse obstetrical outcomes, reduced 1-minute and 5-minute APGAR scores and more frequent NICU admissions. Infants born to women with active trimester 1 disease had reduced weight-for-age and length-for-age Z scores up to 6 months of age, in the absence of difference in feeding patterns. In addition, women with active disease at trimester 1 had increased expression of IL-8 and IFN-γ compared to those with trimester 1 remission. Conclusions Active IBD during first trimester is correlated with decreased infant weight and height up to 6 months of age, suggesting that strict disease control during first trimester, or even preconception, is essential for optimizing infant growth and perinatal outcomes. ![]()

Abstract
Implantation is an essential issue in orthopedic surgery. Bulk metallic glasses (BMGs), as a kind of novel materials, attract lots of attentions in biological field owing to their comprehensive excellent properties. Here, we show that a Zr61Ti2Cu25Al12 (at. %) BMG (Zr-based BMG) displays the best cytocompatibility, pronounced positive effects on cellular migration, and tube formation from in-vitro tests as compared to those of commercial-pure titanium and poly-ether-ether-ketone. The in-vivo micro-CT and histological evaluation demonstrate the Zr-based BMG can significantly promote a bone formation. Immunofluorescence tests and digital reconstructed radiographs manifest a stimulated effect on early blood vessel formation from the Zr-based BMG. Accordingly, the intimate connection and coupling effect between angiogenesis and osteogenesis must be effective during bone regeneration after implanting Zr-based BMG. Dynamic gait analysis in rats after implanting Zr-based BMG demonstrates a tendency to decrease the pain level during recovery, simultaneously, without abnormal ionic accumulation and inflammatory reactions. Considering suitable mechanical properties, we provide a realistic candidate of the Zr61Ti2Cu25Al12 BMG for biomedical applications.

Abstract
Objectives Cigarette smoking is an established risk factor for illness severity and adverse outcomes in patients with COVID-19. Alcohol drinking may also be a potential risk factor for disease severity. However, the combined and interactive effects of drinking and smoking on COVID-19 have not yet been reported. This study aimed to examine the combined and interactive effects of alcohol drinking and cigarette smoking on the risk of severe illness and poor outcomes in patients with COVID-19. Study design This was a multicentre retrospective cohort study. Methods This study retrospectively reviewed the data of 1399 consecutive hospitalised COVID-19 patients from 43 designated hospitals. Patients were grouped according to different combinations of drinking and smoking status. Multivariate mixed-effects logistic regression models were used to estimate the combined and interactive effects of drinking and smoking on the risk of severe COVID-19 and poor clinical outcomes. Results In the study population, 7.3% were drinkers/smokers, 4.3% were drinkers/non-smokers and 4.9% were non-drinkers/smokers. After controlling for potential confounders, smokers or drinkers alone did not show a significant increase in the risk of severe COVID-19 or poor clinical outcomes compared with non-drinkers/non-smokers. Moreover, this study did not observe any interactive effects of drinking and smoking on COVID-19. Drinkers/smokers had a 62% increased risk (odds ratio = 1.62, 95% confidence interval: 1.01-2.60) of severe COVID-19 but did not have a significant increase in the risk for poor clinical outcomes compared with non-drinkers/non-smokers. Conclusions Combined exposure to drinking and smoking increases the risk of severe COVID-19, but no direct effects of drinking or smoking, or interaction effects of drinking and smoking, were detected.

Molecular cloning and yeast two-hybrid provide new evidence for unique sporophytic self-incompatibility system of Corylus. PLANT BIOLOGY (STUTTGART, GERMANY) 2022; 24:104-116. Abstract
The Corylus genus contains several important nut producing species and exhibits sporophytic self-incompatibility (SSI). However, the underlying molecular mechanisms of SSI in Corylus remain largely unknown. To clarify whether Corylus and Brassica share the same SSI molecular mechanism. We cloned ChaTHL1/2, ChaMLPK, ChaARC1, ChaEX70A1 genes from Ping'ou hybrid hazelnut using RACE techniques and tested the interaction between the ChaARC1 and ChaSRK1/2. We also examined the pistil-pollen interactions using scanning electron microscopy. We found no differences in the stigma surface within 1 h after compatible or incompatible pollination. Compatible pollen tubes penetrated the stigma surface, while incompatible pollen did not penetrate the stigma 4 h after pollination. Bioinformatics analysis revealed that ChaTHL1/2, ChaMLPK, ChaARC1 and ChaEX70A1 have corresponding functional domains. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) analysis showed that ChaTHL1/2, ChaMLPK, ChaARC1 and ChaEX70A1 were not regularly expressed in compatible or incompatible pollination. Furthermore, the expression patterns of ARC1, THL1/2, MLPK and Exo70A1 were quite distinct between Corylus and Brassica. According to yeast two-hybrid assays, ChaSRK1/2 did not interact with ChaARC1, confirming that the SRK-ARC1 signalling pathway implicated in the SSI response of Brassica was not conserved in Corylus. These results further reinforce the conclusion that, notwithstanding the similarity of the genetic basis, the SSI mechanism of Corylus does not conform in many respects with that of Brassica. Our findings could be helpful to better explore the potential mechanism of SSI system in Corylus.

Abstract
AIM To develop and validate a nomogram to predict 1-, 2-, and 5-year survival in patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) by combining optimised radiomics features, clinicopathological factors, and conventional image features extracted from three-dimensional (3D) computed tomography (CT) images. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 172 patients with NSCLC were selected to construct the model, and 74 and 72 patients were selected for internal validation and external testing, respectively. A total of 828 radiomics features were extracted from each patient's 3D CT images. Univariable Cox regression and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression were used to select features and generate a radiomics signature (radscore). The performance of the nomogram was evaluated by calibration curves, clinical practicability, and the c-index. Kaplan-Meier (KM) analysis was used to compare the overall survival (OS) between the two subgroups. RESULT The radiomics features of the NSCLC patients correlated significantly with survival time. The c-indexes of the nomogram in the training cohort, internal validation cohort, and external test cohort were 0.670, 0.658, and 0.660, respectively. The calibration curves showed that the predicted survival time was close to the actual survival time. Decision curve analysis shows that the nomogram could be useful in the clinic. According to KM analysis, the 1-, 2- and 5-year survival rates of the low-risk group were higher than those of the high-risk group. CONCLUSION The nomogram, combining the radscore, clinicopathological factors, and conventional CT parameters, can improve the accuracy of survival prediction in patients with NSCLC.

Measurement of the Sixth-Order Cumulant of Net-Proton Multiplicity Distributions in Au+Au Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=27, 54.4, and 200 GeV at RHIC. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2021; 127:262301. Abstract
According to first-principle lattice QCD calculations, the transition from quark-gluon plasma to hadronic matter is a smooth crossover in the region μ_{B}≤T_{c}. In this range the ratio, C_{6}/C_{2}, of net-baryon distributions are predicted to be negative. In this Letter, we report the first measurement of the midrapidity net-proton C_{6}/C_{2} from 27, 54.4, and 200 GeV Au+Au collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). The dependence on collision centrality and kinematic acceptance in (p_{T}, y) are analyzed. While for 27 and 54.4 GeV collisions the C_{6}/C_{2} values are close to zero within uncertainties, it is observed that for 200 GeV collisions, the C_{6}/C_{2} ratio becomes progressively negative from peripheral to central collisions. Transport model calculations without critical dynamics predict mostly positive values except for the most central collisions within uncertainties. These observations seem to favor a smooth crossover in the high-energy nuclear collisions at top RHIC energy.

Abstract
Background Psoriasis is a common chronic inflammatory disease caused by excessive activation of CD4+T cells, including Th17, Th1 and Th22. The role of CD8+T cells in psoriasis pathogenesis remains poorly understood. Aim To identify the phenotype of CD8+T cells in patients with psoriasis and to investigate its role in the formation of lesions. Methods The phenotype of CD8+T cells in psoriatic lesions was detected by immunofluorescence staining. Flow cytometry was performed to detect their phenotype in peripheral blood. Thereafter, coculture of CD8αα+T cells with autogenous CD4+T cells was performed to investigate the function of CD8αα+T cells in patients with psoriasis. Finally, pro‐inflammatory factors produced by CD8αα+T cells were examined by immunofluorescence staining and flow cytometry. Results Compared to the CD8αβ+T cells, CD8αα+T cell infiltration in psoriatic lesions markedly increased. Moreover, epidermal CD8αα+T cells exhibited tissue‐resident memory T cells (TRM) phenotypes and dermal CD8αα+T cells exhibited effector memory (TEM) phenotypes in psoriatic lesions. Additionally, we found that CD8αα+T cells from patients with psoriasis did not express the markers of regulatory T cells and could promote the proliferation of CD4+T effector cells and produce interleukin‐17 and interferon‐γ. Conclusions Our findings demonstrate that CD8αα+T cells contribute to the pathogenesis of psoriasis by producing pro‐inflammatory factors.

Abstract
A highly immunogenic nucleotide fragment (195bp) was selected from the Mhp183 gene of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae using information software technology and was named Mhp183195bp. Three Mhp183195bp were linked to form a new nucleotide sequence called Mhp183615bp. Mhp183615bp was directly synthesized and cloned into a pET100 vector and expressed in Escherichia coli. After purification, the proteins were successfully validated using SDS-PAGE and Western blot. BALB/c mice were injected with purified proteins on the first, eighth, and fifteenth days of feeding, respectively; serum samples were collected from mice on the day of immunization and on the 22nd day after immunization. The antibody level in mouse serum was detected by Western blotting using purified expressed proteins as antigens. IL-2, TNF-α and IFN-γ were simultaneously detected in mouse serum by ELISA. The 30 kDa protein was successfully expressed and reacted specifically with the specific serum Mhp His-Tag mouse monoclonal antibody and pig antibody. The expressed recombinant protein was immunogenic. The expression levels of IFN-γ, IL-2 and TNF-α were found to be significantly higher on day 22 than in the control group. This study suggests that the expressed recombinant protein could be used as one of the novel vaccine candidates for Mhp.

Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the effect of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) on the susceptibility and consequences of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). We retrospectively collected data from 218 adult COVID-19 patients who showed no evidence of excessive alcohol consumption and underwent abdominal ultrasound examinations. Of these patients, 39.4% patients had been diagnosed with NAFLD, which indicates a much higher prevalence of NAFLD than that reported in the general population. Significantly elevated white blood cell count (p = 0.008), alanine aminotransferase (p = 0.000), aspartate aminotransferase (p = 0.006) and C reactive protein (p = 0.012) were found in the patients with NAFLD. These patients also had significantly higher proportions of hypertension (p = 0.006) and diabetes (p = 0.049) than the non-NAFLD cases. No significant differences existed in the severity, mortality, viral shedding time and length of hospital stay between patients with or without NAFLD in the sample population. However, subgroup analyses found that in patients with normal body mass index (BMI), NAFLD sufferers were more likely to experience a severe event (30.0% vs 11.5%, p = 0.021). Kaplan-Meier curve (log-rank p = 0.017) and Cox regression (HR = 3.26, 95% CI: 1.17-9.04, p = 0.023) analyses confirmed that before and after adjusting for gender, age and comorbidities, NAFLD patients with normal BMI had a higher incidence of suffering severe events. People with NAFLD may have a higher proportion of COVID-19. NAFLD may be correlated with the severity of COVID-19 patients in the normal BMI group.

Abstract
Objective: To examine the surgical outcome, completeness and safety of robotic thyroidectomy by bilateral axillo-breast approach (BABA). Methods: From February 2014 to May 2019, 1 000 cases of robotic thyroidectomy via BABA at the Department of Thyroid and Breast Surgery, the 960th Hospital of People's Liberation Army were performed. The clinicopathologic characteristics, operation times, perioperative complications, and oncologic outcomes of patients underwent robotic thyroidectomy were collected and reviewed retrospectively. There were 216 males and 784 females, aging (42.3±11.5) years (range: 7 to 75 years). There were 270 cases with benign tumors, and 730 cases with malignant cancers (the tumor diameter was (7.9±6.7) mm (range: 0.1 to 60.0 mm)). Results: There were 999 patients received robotic thyroidectomy using BABA approach successfully, while only 1 case conversed to open operation. The postoperative hospital stay was (7.5±2.5) days (range: 2 to 30 days). Among the 730 patients with thyroid cancers, 725 cases (99.3%) were papillary thyroid carcinoma, 579(79.3%) cases were with papillary thyroid microcarcinoma. Lymph node metastasis was observed in 371(50.8%) cases. The retrieved central lymph node number was 11.2±6.1 (range: 1 to 44),and the retrieved lateral lymph node number was 14.0±8.8 (range: 1 to 52). Postoperative transient hypoparathyroidism and vocal cord palsy occurred in 247(24.70%) and 56(5.60%) cases. Both of permanent hypoparathyroidism and vocal cord palsy occurred in 2 (0.20%) cases. Other surgical complications included chyle leakage (6.1%, 28/460), trachea injury (0.40%, 4/1 000), carotid artery injury (0.10%, 1/1 000). Local regional lymph node recurrence was developed in 4 patients. All patients were satisfied with the postoperative cosmetic outcomes. Conclusions: Robotic thyroidectomy by BABA is safe and effective, suitable for large benign tumors and early thyroid cancers with central or lateral lymph node metastasis. It could obtain superior cosmetic results.

Abstract
The technological advancement heralded the arrival of precision radiotherapy (RT), thereby increasing the therapeutic ratio and decreasing the side effects from treatment. Contour of target volumes (TV) and organs at risk (OARs) in RT is a complicated process. In recent years, automatic contouring of TV and OARs has rapidly developed due to the advances in deep learning (DL). This technology has the potential to save time and to reduce intra- or inter-observer variability. In this paper, the authors provide an overview of RT, introduce the concept of DL, summarize the data characteristics of the included literature, summarize the possible challenges for DL in the future, and discuss the possible research directions.

Abstract
Abstract
BACKGROUND
An effective therapeutic method still hasn’t been devised for lethal high grade glioma. Thus, a method with high anti-tumoral efficiency, tumoral targeting, and acceptable side effect needs to be designed. Oncolytic virotherapy which can specifically lyse tumor cells via mass replication and deleting nucleotide metabolism related gene, like TK, required in viral replication and overexpressed in tumor cells, provides hope for patients. However, the virus only contained TK deletion is unable to show sufficient specificity of anti-tumoral response in tumor cells. Here, the adapted strain of vaccinia virus with high tumoral specificity due to TK and RR deletion and FUC1 insertion, named T601, is chosen in this project. In clinical application, intra-tumoral injection showed improved anti-tumoral efficiency and acceptable side effect. However, intra-tumoral viral injection in orthotropic glioma model is rare. In this project, various biosafety and antitumoral efficiency parameter would be tested for confirming the biosafety and reliability of intra-tumoral T601 viral injection for future clinical trials.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
For measuring the IC50 of T601, 10 different amounts of virus was tested in vitro via calculating cell viability with CCK-8(cell counting kit-8). For measuring the further antitumoral response of FCU1, different concentration of the 5-FC was added into the medium with IC50 viral amount. To ensure the biosafety of T601, MTD (maximum tolerance dose) was measured. Based on the MTD result, for evaluating the anti-tumoral efficiency, 106 pfu,105 pfu,104 pfu of virus was intra-tumoral injected in orthotopic GBM bearing mice. Tumor size was measured once a week through in vivo bioimaging system.
RESULTS
0.022 MOI, the IC50 of T601, showed high cytotoxicity of T601. Moreover, the significantly decreased cell viability under the combined treatment of 5-FC and 0.22MOI T601 showed intact anti-tumoral function. In MTD assay, except for 107 group, no significant weight loss was found. However, in 107 pfu group, mean body weight decreased around 10% and animal fatality happened on day 9. According to the MTD result, certain amount of virus was intra-tumorally injected. In all treatment group, the tumor size was significantly shrined. At the same time, the survival rate of mice under viral treatment was significantly extended.
CONCLUSION
In summary, T601 exhibited efficient anti-tumoral function and acceptable side effect. T601 treatment prolonged the survival period of GBM mice with acceptable neurotoxicity, demonstrating that T601 contains necessary criterial for intra-tumoral injection. Ultimately, this project provided basic reference information of dose for future clinical trial.

Abstract
Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) has been recognized as one of the important zoonotic pathogens. However, it was limited about the epidemiology and genetic characteristics of S. aureus isolated from pigs in Hunan province, china. The aim of this study was to determine the characteristics of 163 S. aureus isolated from 590 pigs in Hunan Province, China. All isolates were characterized by agr typing, detection of virulence genes and antibiotic resistance genes, lethal test of mice and antibiotic susceptibility tests. The results showed that 30 strains of the 163 isolates were divided into agrⅠ (18.40%), agrⅡ(36/163, 22.09%), agrⅢ (20/163, 12.27%,), agr Ⅳ(20/163,12.27%) and the remaining 57 isolates were amplified negative by agr primers. In the 163 isolates, the detection rate of the virulence genes hlb, hld, hla, icaA, seb, fnbA, eta, etb, sea, tst and pvl ranged from 2.45% to 100%. The 43 isolates that were lethal to the mice, had β-hemolytic activity, the number of virulence genes of which was 7.8% higher than that of the remaining 120 non-fatal strains. The resistance rates of the 163 isolates to the 15 antibiotics were 0% (0/163) - 100% (163/163). All isolates were susceptible to Vancomycin and only 7 isolates were methicillin - resistant S. aureus (MRSA). The detection rates of the 11 resistance genes was 0% (0/163) - 100% (163/163). This study first to describes the epidemiology and characteristics of S. aureus from pigs in Hunan Province, which will help in tracking the evolution of epidemic strains and preventing pig-human transmission events.

Observation of D_{s}^{±}/D^{0} Enhancement in Au+Au Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2021; 127:092301. Abstract
We report on the first measurement of charm-strange meson D_{s}^{±} production at midrapidity in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV from the STAR experiment. The yield ratio between strange (D_{s}^{±}) and nonstrange (D^{0}) open-charm mesons is presented and compared to model calculations. A significant enhancement, relative to a pythia simulation of p+p collisions, is observed in the D_{s}^{±}/D^{0} yield ratio in Au+Au collisions over a large range of collision centralities. Model calculations incorporating abundant strange-quark production in the quark-gluon plasma and coalescence hadronization qualitatively reproduce the data. The transverse-momentum integrated yield ratio of D_{s}^{±}/D^{0} at midrapidity is consistent with a prediction from a statistical hadronization model with the parameters constrained by the yields of light and strange hadrons measured at the same collision energy. These results suggest that the coalescence of charm quarks with strange quarks in the quark-gluon plasma plays an important role in D_{s}^{±}-meson production in heavy-ion collisions.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the impact of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) on long-term cardiovascular outcomes in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Methods: This is a single-center, prospective cohort study. Between June 2015 to January 2020, consecutive ACS patients hospitalized at Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Capital Medical University were enrolled. All patients underwent portable sleep breathing monitoring, and they were then divided into moderate/severe OSA group (apnea-hypopnea index (AHI)≥15 events/hour) and no/mild OSA group (AHI<15 events/hour). The primary endpoint was major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular event (MACCE), defined as a composite of cardiovascular death, non-fatal myocardial infarction, non-fatal stroke, ischemia-driven revascularization and hospital admission for unstable angina or heart failure. MACCE were compared yearly by the log-rank test. Multivariable Cox regression analyses were performed to determine the independent predictors of MACCE. Results: A total of 1 927 patients with ACS were enrolled, including 1 629 males (84.5%), aged (56.4±10.5) years. Moderate/severe OSA was present in 1 014 (52.6%) patients. Compared with no/mild OSA group, moderate/severe OSA group exhibited a higher body mass index (P<0.05). Hypertension, prior PCI were more prevalent in moderate/severe OSA group (both P<0.05). The difference of ACS category between the two groups was statistically significant (P=0.021). The rate of patients who underwent PCI and the number of stents were higher in the moderate/severe OSA group. During a 5-year follow-up (median 2.9 years (IQR 1.5-3.6 years)), the cumulative incidence of MACCE was significantly higher in the moderate/severe OSA group than in the no/mild OSA group (34.0% vs. 24.0%, HR=1.346, 95%CI 1.100-1.646, log-rank P=0.004). The cumulative incidence of MACCE remained statistically higher at 4 and 5 year in the moderate/severe OSA group as compared to the no/mild OSA group (33.3% vs. 22.9%, HR=1.397, 95%CI 1.141-1.710, log-rank P=0.001; 34.0% vs. 24.0%, HR=1.341, 95%CI 1.096-1.640, log-rank P=0.004, respectively). Multivariate analysis showed that moderate/severe OSA (HR=1.312, 95%CI 1.054-1.631, P=0.015) was an independent predictor of long-term MACCE in ACS patients. Conclusions: Moderate/severe OSA is observed in more than 52% ACS patients. Moderate/severe OSA is an independent predictor of long-term MACCE.

Abstract
Objective: To observe the incidence of perioperative severe complications in aortic stenosis (AS) patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVR), and to explore the influence of the accumulated experience of the operators on the incidence of complications. Methods: This is a single-center retrospective study. Patients with AS who underwent TAVR from May 2016 to November 2020 in General Hospital of Northern Theater Command were included. The occurrence of severe complications during perioperative period was recorded. Severe complications included all-cause death, surgical transfer to thoracotomy, coronary artery occlusion, peripheral vascular approach complications, severe cerebrovascular events, moderate or above perivalvular leakage, valve displacement (implanted valve middle valve), pacemaker implantation, etc. In order to observe the influence of the accumulated experience of the operators on the occurrence of postoperative complications, the complications in each stage of the patients were counted and the bar chart was drawn with interval of every 30 patients. Results: A total of 119 patients were included, including 64 males and 55 females, the mean age was (73.9±6.9) years. The valve implantation was unsuccessful in 3 out of 119 patients (2.5%). There were 39 cases of severe complications during perioperative period, including 1 death (0.8%), 2 cases of thoracotomy (1.7%), 2 cases of coronary artery occlusion (1.7%), 8 cases of peripheral vascular approach complications (6.7%), and 1 case of new severe cerebrovascular event (0.8%), 3 cases of moderate or higher perivalvular leakage (2.5%), 8 cases of valve displacement leads to midvalvular implantation (6.7%), 14 cases of permanent pacemaker implantation due to new atrioventricular block (11.8%). The bar chart showed that the incidence of permanent pacemaker implantation and in-valve implantation did not significantly decrease with the accumulation of experience, while the incidence of other complications showed a decreasing trend after 30 cases. Conclusions: Most serious complications occurred in the early stage of TAVR in our center. The incidence of all cause death, coronary artery occlusion and peripheral vascular approach complications in the perioperative period post TAVR could be reduced in the TAVR center in the learning stage through the accumulation of procedure-related experience, but the incidence of pacemaker placement and the implanted valve within the valve dose not significantly decrease over time.

E_{8} Spectra of Quasi-One-Dimensional Antiferromagnet BaCo_{2}V_{2}O_{8} under Transverse Field. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2021; 127:077201. Abstract
We report ^{51}V NMR and inelastic neutron scattering (INS) measurements on a quasi-1D antiferromagnet BaCo_{2}V_{2}O_{8} under transverse field along the [010] direction. The scaling behavior of the spin-lattice relaxation rate above the Néel temperatures unveils a 1D quantum critical point (QCP) at H_{c}^{1D}≈4.7 T, which is masked by the 3D magnetic order. With the aid of accurate analytical analysis and numerical calculations, we show that the zone center INS spectrum at H_{c}^{1D} is precisely described by the pattern of the 1D quantum Ising model in a magnetic field, a class of universality described in terms of the exceptional E_{8} Lie algebra. These excitations are nondiffusive over a certain field range when the system is away from the 1D QCP. Our results provide an unambiguous experimental realization of the massive E_{8} phase in the compound, and open a new experimental route for exploring the dynamics of quantum integrable systems as well as physics beyond integrability.

Abstract
Osteosarcoma, a common malignant tumor in orthopedics, often has a very poor prognosis after lung metastasis. Immunotherapy has not achieved much progress in the treatment because of the characteristics of solid tumors and immune environment of osteosarcoma. The tumor environment is rather essential for sarcoma treatment. Our previous study demonstrated that heat shock proteins could be used as antitumor vaccines by carrying tumor antigen peptides, and we hypothesize that an anti-osteosarcoma effect may be increased with an immune check point inhibitor (PD-L1 inhibitor) as a combination treatment strategy. The present study prepared a multisubtype mixed heat shock protein osteosarcoma vaccine (mHSP/peptide vaccine) and concluded that the mHSP/peptide vaccine was more effective than a single subtype heat shock protein, like Grp94. Therefore, we used the mHSP/peptide vaccine in combination with a PD-L1 inhibitor to treat osteosarcoma, and the deterioration of osteosarcoma was effectively hampered. The mechanism of combined therapy was investigated, and AKT expression participates with sarcoma lung metastasis. This study proposed an antisarcoma strategy via stimulation of the immune system as a further alternative approach for sarcoma treatment and elucidated the mechanism of combined therapy.

Abstract
The Breit-Wheeler process which produces matter and antimatter from photon collisions is experimentally investigated through the observation of 6085 exclusive electron-positron pairs in ultraperipheral Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV. The measurements reveal a large fourth-order angular modulation of cos4Δϕ=(16.8±2.5)% and smooth invariant mass distribution absent of vector mesons (ϕ, ω, and ρ) at the experimental limit of ≤0.2% of the observed yields. The differential cross section as a function of e^{+}e^{-} pair transverse momentum P_{⊥} peaks at low value with sqrt[⟨P_{⊥}^{2}⟩]=38.1±0.9 MeV and displays a significant centrality dependence. These features are consistent with QED calculations for the collision of linearly polarized photons quantized from the extremely strong electromagnetic fields generated by the highly charged Au nuclei at ultrarelativistic speed. The experimental results have implications for vacuum birefringence and for mapping the magnetic field which is important for emergent QCD phenomena.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the combined value of coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) indicators and perivascular fat attenuation index (FAI) in predicting hemodynamically significant coronary artery disease. METHODS We retrospectively analyzed the data of patients undergoing CCTA in Chinese PLA General Hospital from 2017 to 2019, who were also examined for fractional flow reserve (FFR) with invasive coronary angiography within one month before inclusion. The CCTA indicators at the vascular level were measured, including plaque distribution, coronary artery calcification score, lesion length, maximum diameter stenosis, maximum area stenosis (MAS), total plaque burden (TPB), perivascular FAI, and CT-FFR based on machine learning. Lesion-specific hemodynamically significant coronary artery disease was diagnosed for an invasive FFR≤0.8. RESULTS A total of 99 patients with 124 involved coronary arteries were included in this analysis. At the vascular level, according to the results of invasive FFR, coronary artery calcification score, maximum diameter stenosis, MAS and the total plaque burden were significantly higher in patents with a FFR≤0.8 than in those with a FFR>0.8; the perivascular FAI (P < 0.01) and CT-FFR (P < 0.01) also differed significantly between the two groups. The AUC of MAS combined with perivascular FAI was 0.818, which was not significantly different from that of CT-FFR (P=0.076). CONCLUSION The combination of MAS and perivascular FAI has good diagnostic performance in predicting hemodynamically significant coronary stenosis, which is comparable with that of CT-FFR.

Abstract
The current Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has become a global challenge. Managing a large number of acutely ill patients in a short time, whilst reducing the fatality rate and dealing with complications, brings unique difficulties. The most striking pathophysiological features of patients with severe COVID-19 are dysregulated immune responses and abnormal coagulation function, which can result in multiple-organ failure and death. Normally metabolized high-density lipoprotein (HDL) performs several functions, including reverse cholesterol transport, direct binding to lipopolysaccharide (LPS) to neutralize LPS activity, regulation of inflammatory response, anti-thrombotic effects, antioxidant, and anti-apoptotic properties. Clinical data shows that significantly decreased HDL levels in patients with COVID-19 are correlated with both disease severity and mortality. However, the role of HDL in COVID-19 and its specific mechanism remain unclear. In this analysis, we review current evidence mainly in the following areas: firstly, the pathophysiological characteristics of COVID-19, secondly, the pleiotropic properties of HDL, thirdly, the changes and clinical significance of HDL in COVID-19, and fourthly the prospect of HDL-targeting therapy in COVID-19 to clarify the role of HDL in the pathogenesis of COVID-19 and discuss the potential of HDL therapy in COVID-19.

Abstract
Salt is among the most harmful agents that negatively influences crop yield. Alfalfa is an important perennial forage crop that exhibits wide cultivar variations in salt tolerance. Developing salt-tolerant alfalfa plants is a promising way to utilize salinized land. A comprehensive method was developed to achieve reliable and effective evaluation of alfalfa salt resistance. This included principal components, membership functions and cluster and stepwise regression analyses. These were used to analyse the salt tolerance coefficients of 14 traits and to evaluate 20 diverse alfalfa cultivars at the seedling stage. The various morphological root parameters of six alfalfa cultivars with contrasting salt tolerance were also tested by a scanning apparatus. According to the comprehensive evaluation value (D value), one highly salt-tolerant, two salt-tolerant, four moderately salt-tolerant and 13 salt-sensitive alfalfa cultivars were screened. A mathematical equation for the evaluation of alfalfa salt tolerance was established: D' = -0.126 + 0.667SFW + 0.377SDW + 1.089K+ /Na+ + 0.172SFW/RFW (R2 = 0.988; average forecast accuracy of 96.95%), where four indices were closely related to the salt tolerance: shoot fresh weight, ratio of shoot fresh weight to root fresh weight, shoot dry weight and ratio of K+ to Na+ in the shoot. We also found that SSA correlated strongly with SFW, SDW, K+ /Na+ , D values, while SRV correlated obviously with SFW, SFW/RFW and D values after 150 mm NaCl treatment. In conclusion, the SFW, K+ /Na+ , SDW, SFW/RFW, SSA and SRV could be used as indicators of salt tolerance in alfalfa seedlings grown under 150 mm NaCl treatment.

Lactobacillus strains derived from human gut ameliorate metabolic disorders via modulation of gut microbiota composition and short-chain fatty acids metabolism. Benef Microbes 2021; 12:267-281. Abstract
Regulation on gut microbiota and short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) are believed to be a pathway to suppress the development of metabolic syndrome. In this study, three Lactobacillus strains derived from the human gut were investigated for their effects on alleviation of metabolic disorders. These strains were individually administered to metabolic disorder rats induced by high-fat-high-sucrose (HFHS) diet. Each strain exhibited its own characteristics in attenuating the impaired glucose-insulin homeostasis, hepatic oxidative damage and steatosis. Correlation analysis between SCFAs and host metabolic parameters suggested that Lactobacillus protective effects on metabolic disorders are partly mediated by recovery of SCFAs production, especially the faecal acetic acid. Correspondingly, it indicated that probiotics restore the gut microbiota dysbiosis in different extent, thereby protect against metabolic disorders in a manner that is associated with microbiota, but not totally reverse the changed composition of microbiota to the normal state. Thus, Lactobacillus strains partly protect against diet-induced metabolic syndrome by microbiota modulation and acetate elevation.

A combined Doppler backscattering/cross-polarization scattering (DBS/CPS) system is being deployed on MAST-U for simultaneous measurements of local density turbulence, turbulence flows, and magnetic turbulence. In this design, CPS shares the probing beam with the DBS and uses a separate parallel-viewing receiver system. In this study, we utilize a modified GENRAY 3D ray-tracing code to simulate the propagation of the probing and scattered beams. The contributions of different scattering locations along the entire beam trajectories are considered, and the corresponding local B̃ wavenumbers are estimated using the wavevector matching criterion. The wavenumber ranges of the local B̃ that are detectable to the CPS system are explored for simulated L- and H-mode plasmas.

Abstract
Background:Iguratimod (IGU) has demonstrated efficacy and safety for active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients in double-blind clinical trials in China and Japan as a new disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug (DMARD). There are no studies evaluating the radiographic progression of structural joint damage of IGU for the treatment of RA using the mTSS as the primary endpoint. Objectives:Our study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of IGU monotherapy and IGU combined methotrexate (MTX) compared with MTX monotherapy, including the inhibitory effects of joint destruction. Methods:This randomized, double-blind, parallel-controlled, multicenter study in patients with active RA who have not previously used MTX and biological DMARDs (bDMARDs) (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier NCT01548001) was carried out in China. Patients were randomized 1:1:1 to receive IGU 25 mg twice a day (bid), MTX 10mg once a week(qw) for the first 4 weeks and 15 mg once a week(qw) for week 5 to 52, or IGU combined MTX (IGU+MTX) for 52 weeks. The primary endpoints were to assess and compare American College of Rheumatology 20% (ACR20) response and the change of modified total Sharp scoring (mTSS) score over 52 weeks (Intention-to-treat, ITT analysis). The non-inferiority test was used to analyze the difference of ACR20 response at 52 weeks between the IGU monotherapy and the MTX monotherapy arms, and the non-inferiority limit value was 10%. The difference test was used for the comparison between the IGU+MTX and MTX monotherapy arms. Two-way ANOVA was used to analyze the difference of the changes of mTSS score of each arm compared with baseline value (0 week). Results:A total of 895 patients were randomized to IGU 25mg bid (n =297), MTX 10-15mg qw(n=293), and IGU+MTX (n=305). Baseline characteristics were comparable between the arms (Table 1).Table 1.Demographic and Other Baseline Characteristics (SAS)IGUMTXIGU+MTXNumber of Subjects297293305Age, mean (SD) years46.87(10.67)47.63(10.70)48.37(10.69)Female/male, %77.44/22.5679.18/20.8278.03/21.97Duration of RA, mean(SD) years11.67±7.1611.60±7.9811.67±7.27CRP, mean(SD) mg/L222.32±35.4720.67±26.6119.74±31.38Tender joint count, mean (SD)14.59±9.1614.83±9.3014.93±9.88Swollen joint count, mean (SD)9.81±6.639.73±7.209.51±6.22DAS28-CRP, mean (SD)5.084±0.9945.102±0.9795.103±0.956HAQ score, mean (SD)15.82±11.2515.24±10.9316.06±10.92SAS: Safety Analysis Set; CRP: C-reactive protein;DAS28: disease activity score; HAQ: Health Assessment QuestionnaireThe study met its primary endpoints. More concretely, IGU monotherapy and IGU+MTX were found to be superior to MTX at week 52 with a higher ACR20 response of 77.44%(230/297, P=0.0019) and 77.05%(235/305, P=0.0028) versus 65.87%(193/293) (fig 1). As shown in fig 1, the structural remission (ΔmTSS≤0.5) was statistically significant for IGU monotherapy (57.4%, P=0.0308) but not for IGU+MTX arm (55%) versus MTX monotherapy (47.8%).Overall incidence of the adverse events (AEs) leading to study discontinuation were reported in 13.8% (41/297) in IGU monotherapy arm, 11.26% (33/293) in MTX monotherapy arm and 11.51% (35/305) patients in IGU+MTX arm. The incidence of adverse drug reactions (ADR) leading to study discontinuation were 11.45% (34/297), 8.53% (25/293) and 9.21% (28/305), respectively. There was no one death and no significant difference in all the safety indicators among the three arms. Conclusion:Iguratimod alone or in combination with MTX demonstrated superior efficacy with acceptable safety compared to MTX for patients with active RA who have not previously used MTX bDMARDs.Disclosure of Interests:None declared

Correlations between inflammatory response, oxidative stress, intestinal pathological damage and intestinal flora variation in rats with type 2 diabetes mellitus. EUROPEAN REVIEW FOR MEDICAL AND PHARMACOLOGICAL SCIENCES 2021; 24:10162-10168. Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the correlations between inflammatory response, oxidative stress, intestinal pathological damage, and intestinal flora variation in rats with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 80 specific pathogen-free (SPF) male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats purchased from Beijing Vital River Laboratory Animal Technology Co., Ltd. (Beijiing, China) were randomly divided into two groups, namely T2DM group (n=40) and normal group (n=40). Then, the contents of inflammatory factors [high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)] and oxidative stress indicators [malondialdehyde (MDA) and superoxide dismutase (SOD)] were detected. Meanwhile, the distributions of intestinal florae Bifidobacteria, Escherichia coli, Lactobacilli and Enterococcocci and the variation of endotoxin were compared between the two groups. Besides, colon specimens were pathologically examined to observe the occurrence of chronic inflammation variation, intestinal mucosal erosion, intestinal mucosal wall thickening and intestinal mucosal fibrosis. Next, the influences of the glycosylated hemoglobin on levels of hs-CRP, MDA and endotoxin and colonization ability of intestinal florae were analyzed. Additionally, univariate and multivariate analyses were performed for underlying the relations of the pathogenesis of T2DM in rats with their inflammatory response, antioxidant capacity, endotoxin level and intestinal flora colonization capacity. RESULTS The levels of hs-CRP and TNF-α were significantly higher in T2DM group than those in normal group (p<0.05). T2DM group exhibited an overtly elevated MDA level (p<0.05), and a clearly lowered SOD level (p<0.05) in comparison with normal group. As to intestinal flora-related indicators, the levels of endotoxin, Escherichia coli and Enterococcocci were evidently higher in T2DM group than those in the normal group (p<0.05), while the levels of Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli in T2DM group were remarkably lowered (p<0.05). Pathological lesions, including chronic inflammation variation, mucosal erosion, mucosal wall thickening and mucosal fibrosis in intestinal mucosal tissues, were worse in T2DM group than those in the normal group (p<0.05). In T2DM rats, the level of glycosylated hemoglobin was positively correlated with changes in the levels of hs-CRP, MDA and endotoxin (p<0.05), and negatively associated with changes in colonization ability of intestinal florae (p<0.05). Aggravated inflammatory response, decreased antioxidant capacity, increased endotoxin level and weakened colonization ability of intestinal florae were independent risk factors for T2DM in rats. CONCLUSIONS Rats with T2DM have significantly aggravated inflammatory response, weakened antioxidant capacity, imbalanced intestinal florae and markedly pathological changes of intestinal mucosa.
