Abstract
A human hepatoma (HepG2) cell line library was screened with an oligonucleotide probe for macrophage stimulating protein (MSP) to clone an MSP cDNA. Deduced sequences of isolated clones were compared with peptide fragment sequences of MSP. MSP9 cDNA encoded most of the known sequence of MSP except for a small segment of the 5' end of the open reading frame. Consequently, a hybrid 2300-base pair cDNA that encoded the complete MSP amino acid sequence was constructed from 2 clones. Culture fluid from COS-7 cells transfected with this full-length MSP cDNA had MSP biological activity, and the expressed MSP was detected by immunoprecipitation with antibody against native MSP. The deduced amino acid sequence of MSP includes 4 kringle domains, which have been found in hepatocyte growth factor and several proteins of the blood coagulation system. Among them, MSP has the highest sequence similarity to hepatocyte growth factor (45% identity). The MSP cDNA hybridized strongly to mRNA from liver, and to a lesser extent to mRNA from kidney and pancreas, suggesting that a cell type in the liver is the source of MSP. Several cloned and sequenced MSP cDNAs had insertions or deletions, suggesting that alternatively spliced MSP mRNAs may occur. This was reflected in Northern blots probed with an MSP cDNA, which showed more than one mRNA species. Furthermore, although the gene coding for MSP is on chromosome 3, the sequence of one of the cDNAs was identical with a unique sequence in chromosome 1, indicating that there may be a family of MSP genes, located on chromosomes 3 and 1.

Abstract
During the crucial stages of tumor cell invasion and metastasis, neoplastic cells must traverse extracellular matrices for their migration to distant sites. Because basement membranes (BM) serve as a critical barrier to such passages, most previous in vitro assay models have utilized either an intact BM or a reconstituted rodent or avian BM-matrix to study this process. We have created a gel-like extracellular matrix derived from human amnions which contained type IV collagen, laminin, entactin, tenascin and heparan sulfate proteoglycan. This matrix, which we called Amgel, was used to study selected steps of invasion including cell attachment to matrix, degradation of it by proteolytic enzymes and movement of human tumor cells through matrix defects. An efficient tumor invasion assay system was developed utilizing filter-supported uniform coatings of this matrix in chambers. Human tumor cells (HT-1080 fibrosarcoma and RL-95 adenocarcinoma), when seeded onto Amgel-coated membranes, attached to matrix within 2 h and initiated a time-dependent migration and invasion process, as verified by biochemical analysis and both light and electron microscopy. In an optimized invasion assay 12-15% of tumor cells completely traversed the matrix during a 72-h period with > 90% viability. In contrast to these highly-invasive cells, normal human foreskin fibroblasts and normal human endometrial stromal cells exhibited minimal migration/matrix penetration during the same time period. When the Amgel-selected tumor cells (i.e. those penetrating the barrier) were isolated, subcultured, and re-exposed to Amgel, they had heightened invasiveness (2-3-fold) as compared to the parental cells. Thus, this improved 'all human' system for quantitating the invasive ability of tumor cells may provide a valuable tool in dissecting out the mechanistic underpinnings of human metastasis. In addition, this assay has the ability to screen agents which have potential anti-invasive and by extension anti-metastatic, activity or chemotactic properties.

Abstract
To determine the prognostic importance of pulsed Doppler-derived left ventricular diastolic filling velocity profiles and the relationship between Doppler variables and clinical functional status, the follow-up outcome of 58 patients with dilated cardiomyopathy and symptoms of left ventricular dysfunction was analysed. During a mean follow-up period of 31.2 +/- 12.8 months, 23 died of either progressive pump failure or sudden death. Peak early filling velocity (E) was higher and late atrial filling velocity (A) lower in nonsurvivors than in survivors. The E/A ratio was higher and the deceleration time (DT) of early diastole shorter in nonsurvivors. The mortality was significantly higher in patients with an E/A ratio > 2 or a DT < 150 ms than in those without. Repeated Doppler echocardiographic examinations in 31 of 35 survivors after intense treatment showed decreased E, increased A, reduced E/A ratio and prolonged DT in 18 patients with clinical functional improvement, whereas these measurements were unaltered in the remaining 13 patients whose functional status was unchanged or deteriorated. This study suggests that pulsed Doppler-derived left ventricular diastolic filling variables may be important predictors of outcome in dilated cardiomyopathy and provide useful measures in observing the effects of therapy during long-term follow-up of the patients.

Abstract
We previously reported that a derivative of the interleukin-6 (IL-6)-dependent B9 B-cell hybridoma (B9/LPNU1L) constitutively expressing an interleukin-1 alpha (IL-1 alpha) gene introduced by retrovirus-mediated gene transfer preferentially metastasized to bone marrow following intravenous injection into unirradiated syngeneic BALB/c mice. B9/LPNU1L cells recovered from the femoral marrow of a recipient with hind limb paralysis (denoted B9/BM1) retained their IL-6-dependency yet displayed enhanced metastatic capacity during serial transplantation in vivo. In contrast, autonomously-growing B9 variants spontaneously arising in vitro or IL-6-independent B9 derivatives created by infection with recombinant IL-6 retroviruses rarely gave rise to experimental metastases in syngeneic BALB/c or nude mice. Examination of cell adhesion molecule profiles by immunofluorescence flow cytometry has revealed high levels of CD44, moderate levels of VLA-4 and low levels of LFA-1 on all B9-series cells. By comparison, ICAM-1 expression was significantly elevated on B9/BM1 cells, with independent isolates stably expressing about 4-fold higher levels which were paralleled by corresponding increases in the steady-state levels of ICAM-1 mRNA. L-Selectin was not expressed by any of the cell lines. Despite higher ICAM-1 levels, cell aggregation assays revealed that LFA-1-ICAM-1 adhesive interactions were not involved in the homotypic adhesion of B9/BM1 cells but rather that binding of CD44 to endogenously-synthesized hyaluronan was responsible. Furthermore, B9/BM1 cells expressing high levels of ICAM-1 were found to be less susceptible to cytolysis by natural killer (NK) cells than their weakly metastatic or nonmetastatic counterparts.

Abstract
The effects of synthetic alkyl ((alkyl 6-deoxy-a-D-gluco-heptopyranosyluronate) 6-deoxy-a-D-gluco-heptopyranoside) uronates, a novel type of mirror pseudo cord factor, on the in vitro modulation of interleukin-6 production and T-cell proliferation in human peripheral blood mononuclear cells, were investigated. Synthetic mirror pseudo cord factors with alkyl chains ranging from C16 to C18 have very weak interleukin-6-inducing capacities and lack mitogenic activities for T-cell proliferation. However, they could inhibit IL-6 release induced by sonicated Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (S-BCG), bacterial endotoxin, and phytohaemagglutinin in a dose-dependent manner. Inhibition was observed not only with mononuclear cells but also with purified monocytes. Furthermore, these synthetic compounds could suppress T-lymphocyte proliferation stimulated by sonicated Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv (S-H37Rv) antigens, S-BCG antigens, as well as by recombinant 65 kDa mycobacterial heat-shock protein. In contrast, these compounds failed to inhibit the phytohaemagglutinin-induced T-cell proliferation. We conclude that the inhibition of cytokine release and T-cell proliferation by synthetic mirror pseudo cord factors was due to direct blocking of the function and/or activity of monocytes or antigen-presenting cells.

Abstract
Most of the toxic reactions during Gram-negative infections are mediated by inflammatory cytokines induced by endotoxin, also termed lipopolysaccharide (LPS). To evaluate the possibility of synthetic derivatives of LPS to antagonize endotoxin-mediated activities, we have examined the effect of synthetic lipid A partial structures, precursor Ia (compound 406 or LA-14-PP) and lipid X (compound 401) on in vitro LPS or lipid A-induced release of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) by human peripheral blood mononuclear cells. In agreement with previous reports it was shown that LPS of Salmonella abortus equi and synthetic Escherichia coli-type lipid A (compound 506 or LA-15-PP) have potent TNF-inducing capacity. The maximum release of TNF was found after stimulation with 1 to 10 ng/ml of LPS or 10 to 1000 ng/ml of lipid A. Synthetic precursor Ia and lipid X failed to induce TNF release, but could inhibit LPS or lipid A-induced TNF release in a dose-dependent manner. Inhibition was not due to a shift of the kinetic of cytokine release, and was observed in the early stage of TNF production. Moreover, we found that the synergistic effect of interferon-gamma with LPS in induction of TNF release could also be counteracted by the addition of synthetic precursor Ia. The observation that precursor Ia failed to inhibit the induction of TNF by Bacillus Calmette-Guérin, Staphylococcus aureus cowan I or lipopeptide indicated that specific mechanisms are involved in suppression by lipid A partial structures on LPS-induced cytokine production.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)

Abstract
Endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide, LPS) induces the production of mediators of inflammation, which exerts pathophysiological effects such as fever or shock in mammals. In the present study we have investigated the modulation of LPS by the synthetic non-active tetraacylated precursor Ia of lipid A (compound 406) in the induction of tumor necrosis factor (TNF), interleukin 1 (IL-1) and interleukin 6 (IL-6) in human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) and in human peripheral blood monocytes (PBMo). PBMC stimulated with LPS released TNF in a concentration dependent manner. Release of biologically active TNF, IL-1 and IL-6 was first detectable 4 h after LPS stimulation. Compound 406 alone in all concentrations tested did not induce TNF, IL-1 or IL-6 release, intracellular TNF or IL-1 beta, or mRNA for TNF or IL-1. Added to PBMC 1 h before LPS compound 406 enhanced or suppressed TNF release and suppressed IL-1 and IL-6 release depending on the ratio of concentrations between stimulator (LPS) and modulator (compound 406). In contrast to LPS stimulation alone TNF, IL-1 and IL-6 release in presence of compound 406 was delayed and first detectable after 6 to 8 h. Compound 406 was able to suppress LPS-induced intracellular TNF and IL-1 beta in PBMC. Added to PBMo 1 h before LPS it totally inhibited the production of mRNA for TNF and IL-1. When added to PBMC 1 h after LPS, TNF release was suppressed in a concentration-dependent way and release of biologically active TNF, IL-1 and IL-6 could again be detected for the first time after 4 h. Compound 406 was not able to inhibit phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA)-induced TNF and IL-1 release in PBMo which suggests that its modulating effect is LPS-specific. This study provides evidence that the modulating effect of compound 406 on the LPS induction of TNF, IL-, 1 and IL-6 could be due to competitive binding.

Abstract
The significance of endotoxins in bacterial infection and their role as bacterial surface antigens (O antigens) have stimulated investigations into their chemical nature and the mechanisms of their biologic action during the last few decades. This article summarizes some of the recent results and emphasizes structure-activity relationships.

Abstract
The effect of two synthetic lipid A partial structures, compound 406 (or LA-14-PP, identical in structure to the lipid A precursor, known as Ia or IVa) and compound 401 (lipid X), on the in vitro modulation of endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide)-induced interleukin-6 production by human blood mononuclear cells was investigated. Lipopolysaccharide of Salmonella abortus equi and synthetic Escherichia coli-type lipid A (compound 506, or LA-15-PP) had potent interleukin-6-inducing capacities. The maximum release of interleukin-6 was found after stimulation with 1 to 10 ng of lipopolysaccharide or 10 to 100 ng of synthetic E. coli-type lipid A per ml. Both synthetic lipid A partial structures (compounds 406 and 401) failed to induce interleukin-6 release. However, they inhibited lipopolysaccharide- or lipid A-induced interleukin-6 production in a dose-dependent manner. Inhibition was found not only in mononuclear cells but also in purified monocytes and was not due to a shift in the kinetics of cytokine production. Suppression was manifested in the early stage of interleukin-6 production. Inhibition was also found in the presence of recombinant gamma interferon, indicating that compound 406 and recombinant gamma interferon act in different, independent pathways. Our data, therefore, indicate that the inhibition of interleukin-6 production by lipid A partial structures may help elucidate the mechanism of interaction of the lipid A component of lipopolysaccharide with immune cells in the inflammatory reaction during gram-negative infection.

Abstract
The serum concentration of corticosterone was examined in control and stressed pregnant female mice (Mus domesticus) as well as male and female fetuses due to our interest in the behavioral effects of material stress on offspring in mice. Pregnant females were restrained under flood lights (2 sessions/day, 45 min/session) from Day 13-17 of pregnancy. On Day 17 of pregnancy a significant increase in maternal serum corticosterone was exhibited 1 h after the onset of a stress session, and serum corticosterone did not return to baseline until 16 h later. We also observed a significant increase in serum corticosterone in male fetuses during the first 4 h after maternal stress, while no significant change in serum concentration of corticosterone was observed in female fetuses throughout 24 h after maternal stress. Daily variation in serum concentration of corticosterone was also determined at 4-h intervals in pregnant mice and their fetuses from Day 16-18 of pregnancy. Pregnant females maintained on a 12 L:12 D cycle exhibited peak serum corticosterone concentrations at and just before the onset of the darkness. Daily fluctuations in serum concentrations of corticosterone in male and female fetuses reflected the pattern observed in the mothers. A sex difference in serum corticosterone in fetuses was observed at some, but not all times of the day, with the difference being greatest during the dark phase of the mother's light:dark cycle.

Abstract
The electrocardiographic (ECG) patterns related to clinical spectrum and angiographic features were assessed in 41 patients with first myocardial infarction due to isolated left circumflex coronary artery (LCX) occlusion, and compared to those in 45 patients with right coronary artery (RCA)-related infarction. The occurrence of inferior Q waves was similar in patients with LCX and RCA occlusion, but lateral Q waves and an abnormal R wave in lead V1 were more frequently seen in patients with LCX-related infarction (46% vs 7% and 51% vs 4%, respectively). Compared with patients with LCX-related infarction without an abnormal R wave in lead V1 and those with RCA occlusion, patients with LCX-related infarction and an abnormal R wave in lead V1 associated with inferior and/or lateral Q waves had larger left ventricular end-diastolic and end-systolic volumes, lower ejection fraction, higher incidence of total occlusion of a dominant LCX without collaterals, and more cardiac events during follow-up. The study suggests that the presence of lateral Q waves and an abnormal R wave in lead V1 after myocardial infarction may be a useful marker of LCX occlusion, and that patients with LCX-related infarction may have different status of left ventricular function depending on the size of circulation and the status of residual flow to the infarct region during LCX occlusion.

Abstract
Disulfiram, widely used in avoidance therapy for alcohol abuse, has been shown to have protective effects against chemically induced toxicity and carcinogenesis. The purpose of this work was to elucidate the biochemical mechanisms of this protective action by examining its effects on cytochrome P450IIE1 and other related microsomal enzyme activities. When a dose of disulfiram was given intragastrically to rats, a very rapid decrease of N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) demethylase activity, possibly due to the inactivation of P450IIE1, was seen. The loss of P450IIE1 protein from the microsomal membrane was observed at 18 hr after receiving disulfiram, but not within the first 5 hr after the treatment. P450IIB1, on the other hand, was induced markedly between 15 and 72 hr after the disulfiram treatment. The treatment, however, caused only moderate changes in some other P450 isozymes. Carbon disulfide, a putative metabolite of disulfiram, produced similar effects on P450IIE1, but with shorter duration. Carbon disulfide, however, did not induce P450IIB1. Diethyldithiocarbamate, a reductive product of disulfiram, was an inhibitor of P450IIE1 activity in vitro, and upon preincubation with microsomes, it produced an NADPH-dependent inactivation of NDMA demethylase activity. The results suggest that this or other metabolites of disulfiram are inhibitors of P450IIE1 and are responsible for the inactivation of P450IIE1 in vivo. Hepatotoxicity of NDMA or CCI4 in rats was blocked by pretreatment with disulfiram. The present work demonstrates that P450IIE1 was inhibited and inactivated by disulfiram, and this mechanism can account for many of the reported inhibitory actions of disulfiram against chemically induced toxicity and carcinogenesis.

Abstract
Diallyl sulfide (DAS) and other organosulfur compounds inhibit chemically induced carcinogenic and toxic responses in rodent model systems. A possible mechanism of action is the inhibition of the hepatic cytochrome P450IIE1-dependent bioactivation of the procarcinogens and protoxicants. Previous work showed competitive inhibition by DAS of N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) demethylase activity in vitro, and a reduction in the microsomal level of P450IIE1 after in vivo treatment with DAS. The present studies demonstrated a time- and dose-dependent decrease of hepatic microsomal P450IIE1 activity, induction of P450IIB1 and pentoxyresorufin dealkylase activity, and moderate induction of ethoxyresorufin dealkylase activity by oral DAS treatment. DAS treatment elevated P450IIB1 mRNA but had no effect on P450IIE1 mRNA. Treatment with putative metabolites of DAS, diallyl sulfoxide and diallyl sulfone, led to similar modulations in monooxygenase activities, but the decrease of P450IIE1 activity by the sulfone occurred more rapidly. In studies in vitro, diallyl sulfone caused a metabolism-dependent inactivation of P450IIE1, but such inactivation was not observed with DAS or diallyl sulfoxide. The profile of microsomal testosterone metabolism after DAS treatment indicated an enhancement of P450IIB1-dependent 16 beta-hydroxylase activity, and a decrease in 6 beta-hydroxytestosterone production possibly related to a lower level of P450IIIA1 or IIIA2. When rats were subjected to a 48-hr fast and DAS treatment, the starvation-induced microsomal P450IIE1 level was decreased by DAS. Inhibition of hepatotoxicity due to exposure to P450IIE1 substrates, CCl4 and NDMA, by DAS was observed under a variety of treatment schedules.

Abstract
The cytotoxicity of natural killer (NK) and lymphokine activated killer (LAK) cells against two human bladder tumor cell lines (BT-A and BT-B) was investigated using a fluorometric assay by labeling tumor cell DNA with Hoechst dye No. 33342. Our results demonstrate that BT-A and BT-B cells have low sensitivity to the cytotoxic activity of mononuclear cells (MNC) and NK cells. Cytotoxicity of MNC or NK cells against both tumor cell lines is enhanced during co-culture of the effector cells with the target cells, which suggests that BT-A and BT-B cells provide the signals which could activate MNC to exert cytotoxicity. In contrast to NK cells, IL-2-generated LAK cells showed profound cytotoxicity to BT-A and BT-B within 24 h. In addition to cellular cytotoxicity to bladder tumor cells, we also tested the effect of recombinant interleukin 1 beta (rIL-1 beta), recombinant tumor necrosis factor (rTNF), and the supernatants of co-culture of MNC or LAK cells with bladder tumor cells. The results show no cytotoxic or growth-promoting activity of rIL-1, rTNF, or the crude culture supernatants on bladder tumor cells. We found that LAK cells, but not macrophages or NK cells, may play a major role in cellular cytotoxicity against the two bladder tumor cell lines tested. From this finding we conclude that activation of LAK cells may be one important mechanism induced by adjuvant bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) therapy leading to effective prevention of urothelial bladder carcinoma reappearance.

Abstract
108 patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI), aged 70 years or younger, underwent left ventriculography and coronary arteriography (mean one month) after infarction and were followed up for an average period of 22 months (range 5-47 months). The contribution of angiographic variables to a first cardiac event (death, recurrent infarction, coronary artery bypass grafting or congestive heart failure) was evaluated with Kaplan-Meier survival curve analysis and long-rank test. Patients with cardiac events had left ventricular dilation, systolic dysfunction, multivessel coronary disease and lack of residual flow to the infarct region. Multivariate analysis showed that left ventricular end-systolic volume (P less than 0.001), end-diastolic volume (P less than 0.01) and the number of the diseased coronary vessels (P less than 0.05) were of significance in predicting the outcome. This prospective study indicates that in survivors of first acute transmural MI, cardiac catheterization performed one month after infarction can provide additive prognostic information that can be used to stratify risk.

Abstract
We report a case of basophilic leukemia with simultaneous translocations of t(8;21) and t(9;22). The patient's clinical and hematologic findings were characteristic only of t(9;22) but not of t(8;21). This unusual cytogenetic phenomenon raises a challenge to the current concepts of primary chromosomal abnormalities in cancer.

Abstract
Bacterial lipopolysaccharides (LPS) consist of a hydrophilic heteropolysaccharide component and a covalently linked hydrophobic lipid portion termed lipid A. Lipid A is responsible for most of the toxic and immunoregulatory effects of LPS. In studying the structure-function relationship of lipid A partial structures we now report that certain synthetic analogues, with themselves being biologically "inactive", exert immunomodulating effects on LPS-induced Interleukin 1 production in vitro.

Abstract
For assessing the relationship between the left ventricular (LV) wall motion abnormalities and the status of residual flow to the infarcted region, the extent of coronary artery disease and one-year outcome, 60 patients with a first transmural, Q-wave myocardial infarction (MI) underwent serial echocardiographic examinations. The abnormal wall motion (AWM) score was calculated, and the cardiac events (death, reinfarction, severe ventricular arrhythmia or congestive heart failure) after discharge were recorded. The AWM score of the infarcted area was higher in patients with total occlusion than in those with subtotal occlusion (anterior MI: 14.6 +/- 2.4 vs 7.2 +/- 2.1; inferior MI: 9.7 +/- 2.1 vs 5.1 +/-1.2, all P less than 0.01). Regional wall motion of the noninfarcted area was preserved in patients with single vessel disease but decreased in those with multivessel disease. In patients who developed cardiac events in follow-up period a higher AWM (16.4 +/- 3.7) was found than in those who did not (8.9 +/- 3.1, P less than 0.05). A score of greater than 13 had a strong prediction of cardiac events after acute MI, with a sensitivity of 81%, specificity of 94% and positive predictive accuracy of 88%.

Abstract
Experiments were designed to investigate the significance of lipid A partial structures, precursor Ia (compound 406), and lipid X (compound 401) to serve as antagonists of interleukin 1 (IL-1) release from human mononuclear cells and monocytes induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS, endotoxin) of Salmonella abortus equi or synthetic Escherichia coli lipid A (compound 506). A definite inhibition mediated by lipid A partial structures on IL-1 release induced by LPS or lipid A was found in repeated experiments. The inhibitory effect was exerted not only on IL-1 release, but also on IL-1 peptide synthesis at the intracellular level. The results also show that lipid A partial structures have suppressive effects even when added 1-4 h after LPS or lipid A. We conclude from these results that lipid A partial structures (precursor Ia and lipid X) have potent immunomodulatory effects on LPS- and lipid A-induced IL-1 release and may become useful reagents to study the mechanism of interaction of LPS and lipid A with cells of the immune system.

Abstract
This paper reports an interesting case of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), whose bone marrow karyotype at diagnosis was 46, XY, t(16;17) (q12;q25). Fourteen months later, the disease transformed into erythroleukemia, and several correlative clones with hyperdiploid appeared at the same time. Thus, we consider that detecting karyotypic evolution may help evaluate the prognosis of MDS.

Abstract
To evaluate the impact of back injury on industry, the authors conducted an extensive retrospective analysis of injuries among hourly employees of The Boeing Company, the largest industrial manufacturer in western Washington. The Boeing Company provided injury information on 31,200 employees for a 15-month period from July 1, 1979 to September 30, 1980. From this information, we analyzed 4,645 injury claims filed as of February 28, 1981 by 3,958 different employees. There were 900 back injuries in this group. Claims were categorized according to total incurred cost (TIC), made up of the medical costs and indemnity costs. High-cost claims were defined as those with a TIC greater than $10,000, and low-cost claims were those with a TIC less than $10,000. Among 857 claimants with 900 back injuries, lifting or material handling was much more commonly considered the cause of injury than accidents such as slips or falls. Accidents, however, had a much greater tendency to result in an expensive claim. The authors could not make reliable conclusions regarding injuries and 32 job skill classifications. The rate of injury did not vary according to day of the week or month, but a significantly higher rate of high-cost back injuries was noted on the day shift than on the evening or night shifts.

Abstract
Dysmaturity, diagnosed according to the Clifford criteria, was studied for the first time in a black population. The infants and matched control subjects were participants in the Collaborative Perinatal Study in Philadelphia from birth to 7 years of age. The incidence of dysmaturity was 25/1,000 live births; more boys than girls were born dysmature, reversing the normal male/female ratio found among black infants in the Collaborative Study as a whole. The condition was more common among post-term infants but did occur in earlier gestational weeks. The overall characteristics of the condition among this black population did not differ from those previously reported among white populations of various races. Surviving infants developed mentally and physically as well as control subjects. No prenatal or environmental characteristics were found that distinguished mothers of dysmature infants from those of nondysmature infants.
