Abstract
Bioenergy or green fuel has been considered the fuel of the future for being a type of renewable energy that contributes to the preservation of the environment as it helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In this way, biogas offers a potential alternative to fossil fuels from anaerobic digestion (AD) bioprocess, which allows the action of several microorganisms in the transformation of substrates into biogas and secondary bioproducts. Over the years, researchers have discussed that low yields in AD are associated with different factors such as type of wastewater, reactor configuration, substrate concentration, temperature, organic loading rates, and biomass concentration inside of the reactor. In this way, to better conduct the AD, studies point to the reactor configuration as one of the factors in the determination of high biogas production for a long period. Understanding and knowing the type of reactor and how the parameters such as biomass accumulation and immobilization, pH, or temperature occur in the system would provide information and can help to improve the bioenergy production in different systems. Moreover, research opportunities about different technologies are essential for the anaerobic digestion of many substrates and the stability of interest production. Thus, this type of scientific study gives a broad overview of the principal systems used in the AD process and information about the circular economy in the production of biogas in the world. Important considerations are highlighted.Implications: The review paper provides information about the scenario of biogas in the world state-of-art and the biogas production from AD. Afterward, an extensive analysis of different and principal types of reactors applied to the AD process, aimed at presenting an overview of the advantages and disadvantages of each configuration intending to gain new insights to improve traditional reactors or propose novel ones. This article enables us to have a perspective about the different technologies available and about new alternatives from an operational point of view for bioenergy from AD, not only in bench studies or pilot scale studies but also at an industrial level. Thus, this type of scientific study gives a broad overview of the principal systems used in the AD process and information about the circular economy in the production of biogas in the world.

Abstract
Biohythane, a balanced mixture comprising bioH2 (biohydrogen) and bioCH4 (biomethane) produced through anaerobic digestion, is gaining recognition as a promising energy source for the future. This article provides a comprehensive overview of biohythane production, covering production mechanisms, microbial diversity, and process parameters. It also explores different feedstock options, bioreactor designs, and scalability challenges, along with techno-economic and environmental assessments. Additionally, the article discusses the integration of biohythane into waste management systems and examines future prospects for enhancing production efficiency and applicability. This review serves as a valuable resource for researchers, engineers, and policymakers interested in advancing biohythane production as a sustainable and renewable energy solution.

Abstract
The food processing industry is one of the world's largest consumers of potable water. Agri-food wastewater systems consume about 70% of the world's fresh water and cause at least 80% of deforestation. Food wastewater is characterized by complex composition, a wide range of pollutants, and fluctuating water quality, which can cause huge environmental pollution problems if discharged directly. In recent years, food wastewater has attracted considerable attention as it is considered to have great prospects for resource recovery and reuse due to its rich residues of nutrients and low levels of harmful substances. This review explored and compared the sources and characteristics of different types of food wastewater and methods of wastewater treatment. Particular attention was paid to the different methods of resource recovery and reuse of food wastewater. The diversity of raw materials in the food industry leads to different compositional characteristics of wastewater, which determine the choice and efficiency of wastewater treatment methods. Physicochemical methods, and biological methods alone or in combination have been used for the efficient treatment of food wastewater. Current approaches for recycling and reuse of food wastewater include culture substrates, agricultural irrigation, and bio-organic fertilizers, recovery of high-value products such as proteins, lipids, biopolymers, and bioenergy to alleviate the energy crisis. Food wastewater is a promising substrate for resource recovery and reuse, and its valorization meets the current international policy requirements regarding food waste and environment protection, follows the development trend of the food industry, and is also conducive to energy conservation, emission reduction, and economic development. However, more innovative biotechnologies are necessary to advance the effectiveness of food wastewater treatment and the extent of resource recovery and valorization.

Abstract
The transition to renewable energy sources is crucial to ensure a sustainable future. Although the sugar and ethanol industries benefit from this transition, there are untapped opportunities to utilize the waste generated from the sugar and ethanol process chains through two-stage anaerobic digestion (TSAD). This review comprehensively discusses the utilization of various sugarcane-based industrial wastes by TSAD for sequential biohydrogen and methane production. Factors influencing TSAD process performance, including pH, temperature, hydraulic retention time, volatile fatty acids and alkalinity, nutrient imbalance, microbial population, and inhibitors, were discussed in detail. The potential of TSAD to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases is demonstrated. Recent findings, implications, and promising future research related to TSAD, including the integration of meta-omics approaches, gene manipulation and bioaugmentation, and application of artificial intelligence, are highlighted. The review can serve as important literature for the implementation, improvement, and advancements in TSAD research.

Abstract
2,3,5,6-Tetramethylpyrazine (TTMP) is an active ingredient of Ligusticum wallichii Franch. It can be used in medicine and food fields. In this study, Bacillus sp. TTMP20 was applied to produce TTMP using cane molasses as a carbon source. After pretreatment with phosphoric acid, 170 mL/L treated molasses, combined with 10 g/L yeast powder, 30 g/L tryptone and 30 g/L (NH4)2HPO4 were used for fermentation. After 36 h, TTMP output reached the highest value of 208.8 mg/L. The yield of TTMP using phosphoric acid-treated molasses as carbon source was 145.59% higher than control. Under the sulfuric acid treatment process of molasses (150 g), the maximum yield of TTMP was 895.13 mg/L, which was 183.18% higher than that of untreated molasses (316.1 mg/L). This study demonstrated that molasses is a high-quality and inexpensive carbon source for the manufacture of TTMP, laying the groundwork for the future industrial production of TTMP.

Abstract
Utilising ‘wastes’ as ‘resources’ is key to a circular economy. While there are multiple routes to waste valorisation, anaerobic digestion (AD)—a biochemical means to breakdown organic wastes in the absence of oxygen—is favoured due to its capacity to handle a variety of feedstocks. Traditional AD focuses on the production of biogas and fertiliser as products; however, such low-value products combined with longer residence times and slow kinetics have paved the way to explore alternative product platforms. The intermediate steps in conventional AD—acidogenesis and acetogenesis—have the capability to produce biohydrogen and volatile fatty acids (VFA) which are gaining increased attention due to the higher energy density (than biogas) and higher market value, respectively. This review hence focusses specifically on the production of biohydrogen and VFAs from organic wastes. With the revived interest in these products, a critical analysis of recent literature is needed to establish the current status. Therefore, intensification strategies in this area involving three main streams: substrate pre-treatment, digestion parameters and product recovery are discussed in detail based on literature reported in the last decade. The techno-economic aspects and future pointers are clearly highlighted to drive research forward in relevant areas.
