Abstract
A method utilizing high-performance liquid chromatography-fluorescence detection (HPLC-FLD) has been developed and refined for the simultaneous detection of florfenicol (FF) and its metabolite florfenicol amine (FFA) along with three fluoroquinolone (ciprofloxacin (CIP), enrofloxacin (ENR), and sarafloxacin (SAR)) residues in different parts of eggs (whole egg, egg yolk, and egg albumen). The QuEChERS ("Quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe") procedure utilized 0.1 M disodium EDTA solution, water, and acetonitrile as extractants; sodium sulfate, sodium chloride, and trisodium citrate as dehydrating salts; and N-propylethylenediamine and C18 as adsorbents. A dual-channel FLD method was utilized to analyze the target compounds using an XBridge BEH C18 chromatographic column (4.6 mm × 150 mm, 5 μm). The mobile phase was employed isocratically using a solution of 0.01 M sodium dihydrogen phosphate, 0.005 M sodium dodecyl sulfate, and 0.1% triethylamine (pH 4.8) in combination with acetonitrile at a ratio of 65:35 (V/V). The limits of detection (LOD) and quantification (LOQ) of the analytes ranged from 0.03 to 1.5 µg/kg and from 0.1 to 5.0 µg/kg, respectively. The recoveries of the analytes in the blank egg samples ranged from 71.9% to 94.8% when reference standard concentrations of the LOQ, half of the maximum residual limit (MRL), MRL, and twice the MRL were added. The parameters of the presented protocol were validated and subsequently applied to the analysis of real samples, demonstrating the applicability and reliability of the method.

Abstract
A sensitive electrochemical method for detecting enrofloxacin was proposed using carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes-reduced graphene oxide (MWCNT-COOH-RGO) nanocomposites. The MWCNT-COOH-RGO nanocomposites were firstly electrodeposited on a bare electrode, followed by electropolymerization of molecularly imprinted polymers. Enrofloxacin was determined by the mechanisms of direct electrocatalytic oxidation and molecularly imprinted recognition, respectively. Under the optimized conditions, a response range of 5.0×10-7 M to 5.5×10-5 M and limit of detection (LOD) of 2.3×10-7 M were obtained by direct electrocatalytic oxidation of enrofloxacin using chronoamperometry. By contrast, the response range of 1.0×10-10 M to 5.0×10-5 M and LOD of 2.5×10-11 M were achieved by molecularly imprinted recognition of enrofloxacin using square-wave voltammetry. Moreover, the proposed method exhibited good repeatability, stability and selectivity, and could be used for enrofloxacin detection in egg samples with satisfactory results.

Abstract
The current effort introduces a facile construction of peony-like CuO:Tb3+ nanostructure (P-L CuO:Tb3+ NS), whose characterization was determined via techniques of X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. We investigated ofloxacin, pefloxacin and gatifloxacin oxidation electrochemically on P-L CuO:Tb3+ NS-modified glassy carbon electrode (P-L CuO:Tb3+ NS/GCE), the results of which revealed the irreversible oxidation of drugs through a two-electron oxidation process. An admirable resolution was found for this modified electrode between voltammetric peaks of ofloxacin, pefloxacin and gatifloxacin, suggesting its appropriateness for simultaneous detection of these drugs in pharmaceutical media. In addition, our nanostructure synergistically influenced the electro-catalytic oxidations of these three compounds. Differential pulse voltammetric measurements of ofloxacin, pefloxacin and gatifloxacin through our sensor showed a limit of detection of 1.9, 2.3 and 1.2 nM a as well as a linear dynamic range between 0.01 and 800.0 μM in phosphate buffered solution (0.1 M, pH = 6.0), respectively. Moreover, as-fabricated sensor could successfully co-detect these drugs in real serum and tablets specimens. In addition, since we use animal foods such as milk it is very important to detect their fluoroquinolone residues. For this purpose, the proposed sensor was tested to determine the residues of ofloxacin, pefloxacin and gatifloxacin in milk.

Abstract
Adsorbents composed of polyaniline nanostructures or their derivatives immobilized on magnetic nanoparticles had gained increasing interest for application in dispersive micro-solid phase extraction. However, reproducible binding between polymeric PANI nanopaterials and magnetic nanomaterials are still a challenging task. Furthermore, other challenges are the enhancement of physical and chemical stability of adsorbent magnetic nanoparticles as well as improvement of polymeric PANI nanoparticles selectivity towards target analytes. This work described the reproducible preparation of a nanocomposite of aniline-anthranilic acid co-polymeric nanorods with silica coated magnetite nanoparticles by physical mixing of its basic components. The prepared nanocomposite had proven stability against chemical and atmospheric attack. The formed nanocomposite in this work had advantages regarding stability and selectivity towards fluoroquinolones as compared with analogues prepared from polyaniline polymers and/or uncoated magnetite nanoparticles. The selectivity of the formed adsorbent was further optimized for microextraction of four fluoroquinolone antibacterial agents. The application of the prepared nanocomposite was exemplified in microextraction of the studied fluoroquinolones from spiked milk samples to enable their detection down to their stated maximum residue limits.

Abstract
In recent years, fluoroquinolones have been found present in important water resources and food sources which compromises the food quality and availability, thereby, causing risks to the consumer. Despite the recent advancement in the development of analytical instrumentation for routine monitoring of fluoroquinolones in water, food, and biological samples, sample pre-treatment is still a major bottleneck of the analytical methods. Therefore, fast, selective, sensitive, and cost-effective sample preparation methods prior to instrumental analysis for fluoroquinolones residues in environmental, food and biological samples are increasingly important. Solid-phase extraction using different adsorbents is one of the most widely used pre-concentration/clean-up techniques for analysis of fluoroquinolones. Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) serve as excellent effective adsorbent materials for selective extraction, separation, clean-up and preconcentration of various pollutants in different complex matrices. Therefore, synthesis of MIPs remains crucial for their applications in sample preparation as this offers much-needed selectivity in the extraction of compounds in complex samples. In this study, the progress made in the synthesis of MIPs for fluoroquinolones and their applications in water, food and biological samples were reviewed. The present review discusses the selection of all the elements of molecular imprinting for fluoroquinolones, polymerization processes and molecular recognition mechanisms. In conclusion, the related challenges and gaps are given to offer ideas for future research focussing on MIPs for fluoroquinolones.

Abstract
A selective electromembrane extraction procedure for the extraction of Enrofloxacin, Marbofloxacin and Flumequine, usually employed as antibiotic in veterinarian use, is proposed by using a chitosan biofilm, composed by 60% (w/w) chitosan and 40% (w/w) Aliquat®336, as active biopolymeric support. The interaction mechanism occurring between the target drugs and the biopolymer has been deeply studied using the Quantum Theory of Atoms in Molecules. The obtained results show the interaction between the extracted fluoroquinolones and the biomembrane is stabilized by two hydrogen bonds formed between both the carboxyl and keto groups of the drugs with both the amine and hydroxyl groups of glucosamine in the biopolymer. The energetic results agree with the high extraction efficiency obtained for Marbofloxacin, Enrofloxacin and Flumequine in terms of enrichment factors (83, 82 and 58, respectively) in presence of other fluoroquinolones. Under optimum conditions, the proposed electromembrane extraction method exhibits wide linear ranges of 4.2-200 μg L-1, 5.6-200 μg L-1 and 5.1-200 μg L-1, respectively; low limits of detection close to 1.3 μg L-1 and appropriate repeatability (relative standard deviation values 4-7%).

Abstract
Fluoroquinolone antibacterial drugs are currently used in reptilian medicine because of their broad spectrum of activity including the most frequent pathogens of these species. The disposition kinetics of marbofloxacin (MBX) at a single dose of 2 mg/kg were determined in healthy red-eared sliders after intravenous (IV) and intramuscular (IM) administration. The influence of renal portal system on the bioavailability of the drug was investigated by using forelimb and hindlimb as IM injection sites. Apparent volume of distribution at steady-state (Vss ) and systemic clearance (Cl) of marbofloxacin after IV administration were estimated to be 48.21 ± 5.42 ml/kg and 23.38 ± 2.90 ml/hr·kg, respectively. The absolute bioavailabilities after IM route were 45.96% (forelimb) and 52.09% (hindlimb). The lack of statistically significant differences in most of the pharmacokinetic parameters after the two IM injection sites suggests a negligible influence of renal portal system in clinical use of MBX, although the Cmax after IMfore administration is advantageous, having into account the concentration-dependent action of this antibiotic. The absence of visible adverse reactions in the animals and the advantageous pharmacokinetic properties suggest the possibility of its safe and effective clinical use in red-eared sliders.

Abstract
Now-a-days, various types of antibiotics are being used worldwide in veterinary sector indiscriminately for promotion of growth and treatment of the livestock. Significant portions of antibiotics are released through milk of dairy animals unaltered and exert serious harmful effects on human health. This review evaluates and compare researches on antibiotic residues in milk in published literatures from Pubmed, CrossRef, CAB direct, DOAJ, JournalTOCs, AGRICOLA, ScientificGate, Electronic Journals Library, CAB abstracts, Global Health Databases, Global Impact Factor, Google Scholar, Park Directory of Open Access Journals, BanglaJOL and ISC E-Journals. Antibiotics residue in milk was first detected in 60s and then with an increasing trend with highest after 2,000 (188). The highest no. of works, 49 (21.87%) were accomplished in China, followed by Spain, 30 (13.39%); Germany, 11 (4.91%); and USA, 10 (4.46%). Continent-wise highest researches are published from Europe, 105 (46.88%), followed by Asia, 77 (34.38%); South America, 18 (8.04%); North America, 16 (7.14%); and Africa, 8 (3.57%). For detection, Bovine milk sample is mostly used, 193 (86.16%), followed by ovine, 19 (8.48%); and caprine, 14 (6.25%). Acetonitrile was used in maximum cases (77) for processing the samples. Chromatographic technique was the highest, 115 (51.34%) for detection. Residue of β-lactam group have been detected mostly 133 (36.54%), followed by tetracyclines, 51 (14.01%); fluoroquinolones, 49 (13.46%); sulfonamides, 46 (12.64%); and aminoglycosides, 38 (10.44%). This review observe that antibiotics residues are more common in milk samples that are being manifested in increasing researches on antibiotic detection and measures should adopt to cease this residue.

Abstract
Antibiotics contamination in food products is of increasing concern due to their potential threat on human health. Herein solid-phase extraction based on magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers coupled with internal extractive electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (MMIPs-SPE-iEESI-MS) was designed for the quantitative analysis of trace fluoroquinolones (FQs) in raw milk samples. FQs in the raw milk sample (2 mL) were selectively captured by the easily-lab-made magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers (MMIPs), and then directly eluted by 100 µL electrospraying solvent biased with +3.0 kV to produce protonated FQs ions for mass spectrometric characterization. Satisfactory analytical performance was obtained in the quantitative analysis of three kinds of FQs (i.e., norfloxacin, enoxacin, and fleroxacin). For all the samples tested, the established method showed a low limit of detection (LOD ≤ 0.03 µg L−1) and a high analysis speed (≤4 min per sample). The analytical performance for real sample analysis was validated by a nationally standardized protocol using LC-MS, resulting in acceptable relative error values from −5.8% to +6.9% for 6 tested samples. Our results demonstrate that MMIPs-SPE-iEESI-MS is a new strategy for the quantitative analysis of FQs in complex biological mixtures such as raw milk, showing promising applications in food safety control and biofluid sample analysis.

Abstract
In this study, a magnetic graphene-based dispersive solid phase extraction method was developed that was combined with high performance liquid chromatography to determine the residues of fluoroquinolone drugs in foods of animal origin. During the experiments, several parameters possible influencing the extraction performance were optimized (amount of magnetic graphene, sample pH, extraction time and elution solution). This extraction method showed high absorption capacities (>6800ng) and high enrichment factors (68-79-fold) for seven fluoroquinolones. Furthermore, this absorbent could be reused for at least 40 times. The limits of detection were in the range of 0.05-0.3ng/g, and the recoveries from the standards fortified blank samples (bovine milk, chicken muscle and egg) were in the range of 82.4-108.5%. Therefore, this method could be used as a simple and sensitive tool to determine the residues of fluoroquinolones in foods of animal origin.

Abstract
A new method based on resonance Rayleigh scattering (RRS) was proposed for the determination of quinolones (QNS) at the nanogram level. In pH 3.3-4.4 Britton-Robinson buffer medium, quinolones such as ciprofloxacin, pipemidic acid (PIP), lomefloxacin (LOM), norfloxacin (NOR) and sarafloxacin (SAR) were protonated and reacted with methyl orange (MO) to form an ion-pair complex, which then further formed a six-membered ring chelate with Pd(II). As a result, new RRS spectra appeared and the RRS intensities were enhanced greatly. RRS spectral characteristics of the MO-QNS-Pd(II) systems, the optimum conditions for the reaction, and the influencing factors were investigated. Under optimum conditions, the scattering intensity (∆I) increments were directly proportional to the concentration of QNS with in certain ranges. The method had high sensitivity, and the detection limits (3σ) ranged from 6.8 to 12.6 ng/mL. The proposed method had been successfully applied for the determination of QNS in pharmaceutical formulations and human urine samples. In addition, the mechanism of the reaction system was discussed based on IR, absorption and fluorescence spectral studies. The reasons for the enhancement of scattering spectra were discussed in terms of fluorescence-scattering resonance energy transfer, hydrophobicity and molecular size.

Abstract
Danofloxacin is a synthetic fluoroquinolone antibacterial agent and a substrate for ATP-binding cassette transporter G2/breast cancer resistance protein (ABCG2/BCRP). This protein actively extrudes drugs from cells in the intestine, liver, kidney, and other organs, such as the mammary gland. The purpose of this study was to determine whether genistein and daidzein, isoflavones present in soy and known inhibitors of ABCG2, could diminish danofloxacin secretion into milk. The results obtained from BCRP-transduced MDCK-II cells (Mardin-Darby canine kidney) showed that both isoflavones efficiently inhibited the in vitro transport of the drug. In addition, danofloxacin transport into milk was studied in Assaf sheep. The experimental design with ewes (n = 18) included ewes fed with standard forage, soy-enriched forage for 15 days prior to the experiment or standard forage paired with orally administered exogenous genistein and daidzein. The danofloxacin levels in the milk of ewes in the soy-enriched diet group were decreased. The area under concentration-time curve AUC (0-24 h) was 9.3 ± 4.6 vs. 16.58 ± 4.44 μgh/mL in the standard forage or control group. The plasma levels of danofloxacin were unmodified. The AUC (0-24 h) milk/plasma ratio decreased by over 50% in the soy-enriched diet group, compared to the control group (4.90 ± 2.65 vs. 9.58 ± 2.17). Exogenous administration of isoflavones did not modify danofloxacin secretion into milk. This study showed that milk excretion of a specific substrate of BCRP, such as danofloxacin, can be diminished by the presence of isoflavones in the diet.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The residues of fluoroquinolone drugs in foods of animal origin are dangerous to the consumers. The objective of this study was to produce a generic monoclonal antibody for determination of fluoroquinolone residues in meat. RESULTS Two novel haptens of ciprofloxacin containing a free amidogen group on the piperazinyl ring were synthesised that were used to produce the monoclonal antibodies. The antibodies obtained simultaneously recognised 12 fluoroquinolones (ciprofloxacin, enrofloxacin, norfloxacin, sarafloxacin, diflocaxin, danofloxacin, ofloxacin, marbofloxacin, pefloxacin, lomefloxacin, amifloxacin and enofloxacin). After evaluation of different coating antigen-antibody combinations, a heterologous competitive indirect ELISA was used to determine the 12 drugs. The cross-reactivities were in the range of 23-120% and the limits of detection were in the range of 1.0-4.5 ng mL(-1). Eight fluoroquinolone drugs licensed as veterinary drugs in China were fortified into blank chicken for analysis. The recoveries were in the range of 61.5-82.5% with coefficients of variation in the range of 7.5-15.2%. CONCLUSION This method could be used as a rapid screening tool for routine monitoring the residues of these fluoroquinolone drugs in animal-derived foods.

Abstract
A phosphorimetric method was developed to enable the determination of enrofloxacin using photochemical derivatization which was used to both improve detection limits and to minimize the uncertainty of measurements. Phosphorescence was induced on cellulose containing TlNO(3). Absolute limit of detection at the ng range and linear analytical response over three orders of magnitude were achieved. A metrological study was made to obtain the combined uncertainty value and to identify that the precision was mainly affected by the changing of substrates when measuring the signal from each replicate. Pharmaceutical formulations containing enrofloxacin were successfully analyzed by the method and the results were similar to the ones achieved using a HPLC method. A solid phase extraction on an acrylic polymer was optimized to separate enrofloxacin from interferents such as diclofenac and other components from biological matrices, which allowed the successful use of the method in urine analysis.

Abstract
The objective of this study was to produce a generic antibody for immunoassay of fluoroquinolone drugs in meat. Two novel haptens of sarafloxacin were synthesized that were used to produce the monoclonal antibodies. The obtained monoclonal antibodies simultaneously recognized 12 fluoroquinolone drugs (sarafloxacin, diflocaxin, marbofloxacin, ofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, enrofloxacin, norfloxacin, pefloxacin, lomefloxacin, amifloxacin, enofloxacin and danofloxacin). After evaluation of different coating antigen/antibody combinations, a heterologous competitive indirect enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was developed to determine the 12 drugs. The crossreactivities to these analytes were in the range of 18%-113% and the limits of detection were in the range of 0.8-6.5 ng/mL depending on the compound. Eight fluoroquinolones licensed as veterinary drugs in China were fortified into blank chicken for ELISA analysis. The recoveries were in the range of 67.6%-94.6% with coefficients of variation lower than 12.4%. Therefore, this method could be used as a screen tool for routine monitoring of the residues of these fluoroquinolone drugs in animal derived foods.

Abstract
An efficient molecularly imprinted solid phase extraction (MISPE)-spectrofluorimetric method was developed to sensitively determine danofloxacin (DAN) in milk samples. Solid phase extraction procedure using MISPE cartridges was first performed on milk samples and then spectrofluorimetric determination was done at 546 nm using an excitation wavelength of 285 nm in presence of terbium and sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS). It was found that SDBS significantly enhanced the fluorescence intensity of the DAN-Tb(3+) complex. Various factors affecting the fluorescence intensity of DAN-Tb(3+)-SDBS system were studied and conditions were optimized. The enhanced fluorescence intensity of the system (ΔF) showed a good linear relationship with the concentration of DAN over the range of 8.4×10(-9)-3.4×10(-7) mol L(-1) with a correlation coefficient of 0.9996. The detection limit was determined as 2.0×10(-9) mol L(-1) and the limit of quantification was determined as 6.5×10(-9) mol L(-1). The MISPE-spectrofluorimetric procedure was successfully applied to the determination of DAN in milk samples. The method is simple, rapid, sensitive and allows interference free determination of DAN in complex fluorescent matrices like milk. The method can be used to determine whether the DAN residues in milk exceed MRLs or not.

Abstract
A simple, rapid and sensitive constant wavelength synchronous fluorescence method is developed for the determination of danofloxacin (DAN) in pharmaceutical formulations and its residue in milk based on Al(III) enhanced fluorescence. The synchronous fluorescence intensity of the system is measured at 435 nm using ∆ λ = 80 nm and an excitation wavelength of 280 nm. A good linear relationship between enhanced fluorescence intensity and DAN concentration is obtained in the range of 3-100 ng mL(-1)(r (2) = 0.9991). The limit of detection (LOD, S/N = 3) of the present method is 0.9 ng mL(-1). The proposed method can be successfully applied to the determination of DAN in pharmaceutical formulations and in milk without serious interferences from common excipients, metal ions and other co-existing substances. The method can be used as a rapid screening to judge whether the DAN residues in milk exceed Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) or not.

Abstract
AbstractThis article discusses the preparation of different polymeric sorbents for solid phase extraction. Various monomers like acrylamide, methacrylic acid and 4-vinylpyridine (VP), cross-linkers such as divinylbenzene (DVB) and ethyleneglycoldimethacrylate (EDMA), porogens like tetrahydrofuran (THF) and dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO) / acetonitrile (ACN) with different ratios were investigated in order to optimize recoveries. Resulting polymers were characterized through scanning electron microscope (SEM) and compared with Oasis HLB (Waters, MA, USA) and Strata-X (Phenomenex, Torrance, USA) on the basis of extraction performance, recovery efficiency and loading capacity. Sample applied was a mixture of flavonoid standards (rutin, myricetin, luteolin, quercetin, apigenin and kaempferol). HPLC hyphenated with PDA was used for the analysis of samples. Results showed that among the prepared SPE materials, 4-VP-co-EDMA produced best results. Comparison of the produced polymers with of Oasis HLB and Strata-X resulted in comparable efficiencies; especially the polymer 4-VP-co-EDMA gave almost similar results for all analytes to those of commercially available SPE materials. A general trend of decrease in retention efficiency with increase in polarity has been observed in both synthesized and already available SPE materials. The newly synthesized polymeric materials can be employed as SPE sorbents for efficient extraction of polyphenolic compounds especially for flavonoid aglycons.
