Abstract
PURPOSE In 2020 as COVID-19 rapidly overwhelmed ICU resources, patient care capacity was reduced thus increasing the risk of development of post intensive care syndrome (PICS). Therefore, an increased incidence of survivors with neurocognitive and neuromuscular impairment could be anticipated. This study aimed to describe residual reductions in health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and risk factors for PICS as they pertain to outcomes one year after intensive care. PATIENTS AND METHODS Between 01-03-2020 and 31-08-2020, all adult COVID-19 ICU patients discharged alive in two Swedish ICU were included. At 2-, 6- and, 12-months post discharge follow up was conducted. Primary outcome parameters were HRQoL up to 12-months after ICU discharge. Secondary outcome parameters were clinimetric results for physical, mental, and cognitive functions at 6 months after intensive care stay. RESULTS Data from 41 patients were analyzed. Fatigue, anxiety, respiratory impairments, and experienced decline in physical stamina were the dominating findings at 6 months. Criteria for PICS were fulfilled in 93% of the study population and a 60% reduction in overall HRQoL, compared with a normal age adjusted population, was seen at follow up. A slight improvement was seen at 6 months whereafter no further significant improvement in HRQoL was detected. Fatigue was the most dominant complaint, expressed by almost all patients at follow up. CONCLUSION Long term outcome reported in this study showed longstanding impairment in HRQoL, mostly related to reduced well-being and perceived limitations in physical ability. Overall, our findings show similarities with previously reported recovery patterns after intensive care. However, the COVID-19 cohort displayed a more profound reduction in HRQoL paralleled with severe fatigue and respiratory limitations. This signals the need for a deeper understanding of pathophysiological mechanisms of COVID-19 induced residual impairments and more precise instruments to tailor an individually designed aftercare.

Abstract
AIM To identify the symptom burden in children and adolescents with post COVID-19, a validated and reliable instrument is needed, particularly to assess symptoms and their impact on the child. The aim of this study was to describe the development, validation, and reliability of the Post COVID-19 in Kids Questionnaire (POCOKIDS-Q), which was designed to assess post COVID-19 symptoms in children and adolescents. METHODS The POCOKIDS-Q was developed based on literature, clinical experience, and questionnaires for adults with post COVID-19. The linguistic validation involved 9- to 17-year-old children. Children and adolescents with the onset of post COVID-19 symptoms were asked to complete the final version through a web link. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were performed to identify a factor structure that explains the covariances between the variables. RESULTS The link to the POCOKIDS-Q was opened 324 times and fully completed by 213 (66%) children and young adults (median age 14 years) with post COVID-19 symptoms. Confirmatory factor analyses revealed four significant and correlated factors: brain fatigue, cognitive impact, physical impact, and emotional impact. The explanatory power of the factor model is high. CONCLUSION The POCOKIDS-Q is applicable for assessing post COVID-19 symptoms in children and young adults.

Abstract
This article explores affectivity, temporality, and their interrelation in patients who contracted COVID-19 during the first wave of the pandemic in Sweden and with symptoms indicative of post-COVID-19 Condition (PCC) that remained one year after the infection. It offers a qualitative phenomenological philosophy analysis, showing how being ill with acute COVID-19 and with symptoms indicative of PCC can entail a radically altered self-world relation. We identify two examples of pre-intentional (existential) feelings: that of listlessness and that of not being able to sense what is real and not real, both of which, in different ways, imply a changed self-world relation. We offer an analysis of intentional feelings: how the fear of not "returning" to one's previous self and the hope of such a return weave together the present and the absent, as well as the past and the future, in ways that make the future appear as constricted, disquieting, or lost. We argue that a phenomenological differentiation among experiences of living with symptoms indicative of PCC-through attention to the way intentional affectivity and pre-intentional affectivity help shape the embodied self's attunement to the world-is apt to yield a better understanding of the variations within these experiences and contribute to clinical practice.

Abstract
Post-COVID syndrome has been defined as signs and symptoms that develop after an infection consistent with COVID-19 and continue for more than 12 weeks, including neurocognitive signs and symptoms that have an impact on the functioning and quality of life of middle-aged adult and older survivors. This systematic review describes the current knowledge of long-term cognitive impairments in COVID-19 survivors, approaches strategies, and their impact on public and private health services worldwide. The systematic review was conducted under the criteria and flowchart established in the PRISMA statement, considering studies from the PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases between 2020 and 2023. The included studies considered participants over 40 years of age, COVID-19 survivors. A total of 68 articles were included, most of which had high to excellent quality. The analysis showed the presence of heterogeneous cognitive symptoms in COVID survivors, persistent for at least 12 weeks from the onset of infection, mostly unsystematized and nonspecific approaches strategies, and a lack of methods for monitoring their effectiveness, with a significant economic and logistical impact on health systems. Specific protocols are required for the rehabilitation of persistent cognitive dysfunction in COVID-19 survivors, as well as longitudinal studies to evaluate the effectiveness of these interventions.

Abstract
CLINICAL RELEVANCE Vision-related problems can be part of longstanding sequelae after COVID-19 and hamper the return to work and daily activities. Knowledge about symptoms, visual, and oculomotor dysfunctions is however scarce, particularly for non-hospitalised patients. Clinically applicable tools are needed as support in the assessment and determination of intervention needs. BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to evaluate vision-related symptoms, assess visual and oculomotor function, and to test the clinical assessment of saccadic eye movements and sensitivity to visual motion in non-hospitalised post-COVID-19 outpatients. The patients (n = 38) in this observational cohort study were recruited from a post-COVID-19 clinic and had been referred for neurocognitive assessment. METHODS Patients who reported vision-related symptoms reading problems and intolerance to movement in the environment were examined. A structured symptom assessment and a comprehensive vision examination were undertaken, and saccadic eye movements and visual motion sensitivity were assessed. RESULTS High symptom scores (26-60%) and prevalence of visual function impairments were observed. An increased symptom score when reading was associated with less efficient saccadic eye movement behaviour (p < 0.001) and binocular dysfunction (p = 0.029). Patients with severe symptoms in visually busy places scored significantly higher on the Visual Motion Sensitivity Clinical Test Protocol (p = 0.029). CONCLUSION Vision-related symptoms and impairments were prevalent in the study group. The Developmental Eye Movement Test and the Visual Motion Sensitivity Clinical Test Protocol showed promise for clinical assessment of saccadic performance and sensitivity to movement in the environment. Further study will be required to explore the utility of these tools.

Abstract
Objectives The aim of this study was to evaluate long COVID patients with persistent respiratory symptoms through the application of the World Health Organization (WHO) International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) framework. Patients and methods This national, prospective, multicenter, cross-sectional study was conducted with 213 patients (118 females, 95 males; median age 56 years; range, 20 to 85 years) with long COVID between February 2022 and November 2022. The ICF data were primarily collected through patient interviews and from the acute medical management records, physical examination findings, rehabilitation outcomes, and laboratory test results. Each parameter was linked to the Component Body Functions (CBF), the Component Body Structures (CBS), the Component Activities and Participation (CAP), the Component Environmental Factors (CEF), and Personal Factors according to the ICF linking rules. Analysis was made of the frequency of the problems encountered at each level of ICF category and by what percentage of the patient sample. Results In the ICF, 21 categories for CBF, 1 category for CBS, and 18 categories of CAP were reported as a significant problem in a Turkish population of long COVID patients with persistent respiratory symptoms. Furthermore, eight categories for CEF were described as a facilitator, and four as a barrier. Conclusion These results can be of guidance and provide insight into the identification of health and health-related conditions of long COVID patients with persistent respiratory symptoms beyond the pathophysiological aspects, organ involvement, and damage of COVID-19. The ICF can be used in patients with long COVID to describe the types and magnitude of impairments, restrictions, special needs, and complications.

Abstract
This observational cohort study explored objective neurocognitive deficits in COVID-19 patients five months after discharge, and any associations with demographic factors and disease severity indicators. Medical notes of all COVID-19 patients admitted to hospital in Region Östergötland, Sweden, March-May 2020, were reviewed. After applying exclusion criteria, 433 patients were screened by telephone. Of these, 185 patients reported persistent and concerning post-COVID-19 problems, including but not restricted to cognitive functions, and were invited to a clinical evaluation. The Repeatable Battery for Assessment of Neuropsychological Status (RBANS) and Colour-Word Interference Test (CWIT) were used to assess immediate memory, visuo-spatial function, language, attention, delayed memory, and executive function. A total of 133 patients had valid test performances. Mean RBANS Global Cognition Score was 83.4, with 37% scoring below cut-off (1.5 SD). Deficits in Attention and Memory indices were most common, each affecting approximately 30% of the patients. After adjustment for sex, language, level of education and premorbid function, neurocognitive performance was positively associated with length of hospital stay, but not with the disease severity indicators WHO CPS and CRP. Findings support that comprehensive neuropsychological assessment should be performed when patients report post-COVID-19 symptoms that affect daily life.

Abstract
There is mounting evidence of the long-term effects of COVID-19 on the central nervous system, with patients experiencing diverse symptoms, often suggesting brain involvement. Conventional brain MRI of these patients shows unspecific patterns, with no clear connection of the symptomatology to brain tissue abnormalities, whereas diffusion tensor studies and volumetric analyses detect measurable changes in the brain after COVID-19. Diffusion MRI exploits the random motion of water molecules to achieve unique sensitivity to structures at the microscopic level, and new sequences employing generalized diffusion encoding provide structural information which are sensitive to intravoxel features. In this observational study, a total of 32 persons were investigated: 16 patients previously hospitalized for COVID-19 with persisting symptoms of post-COVID condition (mean age 60 years: range 41-79, all male) at 7-month follow-up and 16 matched controls, not previously hospitalized for COVID-19, with no post-COVID symptoms (mean age 58 years, range 46-69, 11 males). Standard MRI and generalized diffusion encoding MRI were employed to examine the brain white matter of the subjects. To detect possible group differences, several tissue microstructure descriptors obtainable with the employed diffusion sequence, the fractional anisotropy, mean diffusivity, axial diffusivity, radial diffusivity, microscopic anisotropy, orientational coherence (Cc) and variance in compartment's size (CMD) were analysed using the tract-based spatial statistics framework. The tract-based spatial statistics analysis showed widespread statistically significant differences (P < 0.05, corrected for multiple comparisons using the familywise error rate) in all the considered metrics in the white matter of the patients compared to the controls. Fractional anisotropy, microscopic anisotropy and Cc were lower in the patient group, while axial diffusivity, radial diffusivity, mean diffusivity and CMD were higher. Significant changes in fractional anisotropy, microscopic anisotropy and CMD affected approximately half of the analysed white matter voxels located across all brain lobes, while changes in Cc were mainly found in the occipital parts of the brain. Given the predominant alteration in microscopic anisotropy compared to Cc, the observed changes in diffusion anisotropy are mostly due to loss of local anisotropy, possibly connected to axonal damage, rather than white matter fibre coherence disruption. The increase in radial diffusivity is indicative of demyelination, while the changes in mean diffusivity and CMD are compatible with vasogenic oedema. In summary, these widespread alterations of white matter microstructure are indicative of vasogenic oedema, demyelination and axonal damage. These changes might be a contributing factor to the diversity of central nervous system symptoms that many patients experience after COVID-19.

Abstract
With the growing demand for next-generation health care, the integration of electronic components into implantable medical devices (IMDs) has become a vital factor in achieving sophisticated healthcare functionalities such as electrophysiological monitoring and electroceuticals worldwide. However, these devices confront technological challenges concerning a noninvasive power supply and biosafe device removal. Addressing these challenges is crucial to ensure continuous operation and patient comfort and minimize the physical and economic burden on the patient and the healthcare system. This Review highlights the promising capabilities of bioresorbable triboelectric nanogenerators (B-TENGs) as temporary self-clearing power sources and self-powered IMDs. First, we present an overview of and progress in bioresorbable triboelectric energy harvesting devices, focusing on their working principles, materials development, and biodegradation mechanisms. Next, we examine the current state of on-demand transient implants and their biomedical applications. Finally, we address the current challenges and future perspectives of B-TENGs, aimed at expanding their technological scope and developing innovative solutions. This Review discusses advancements in materials science, chemistry, and microfabrication that can advance the scope of energy solutions available for IMDs. These innovations can potentially change the current health paradigm, contribute to enhanced longevity, and reshape the healthcare landscape soon.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Many individuals hospitalised with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection experience post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC), sometimes referred to as "long COVID". Our objective was to conduct a systematic literature review and meta-analysis to identify PASC-associated symptoms in previously hospitalised patients and determine the frequency and temporal nature of PASC. METHODS Searches of MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane Library (2019-2021), World Health Organization International Clinical Trials Registry Platform and reference lists were performed from November to December 2021. Articles were assessed by two reviewers against eligibility criteria and a risk of bias tool. Symptom data were synthesised by random effects meta-analyses. RESULTS Of 6942 records, 52 studies with at least 100 patients were analysed; ∼70% were Europe-based studies. Most data were from the first wave of the pandemic. PASC symptoms were analysed from 28 days after hospital discharge. At 1-4 months post-acute SARS-CoV-2 infection, the most frequent individual symptoms were fatigue (29.3% (95% CI 20.1-40.6%)) and dyspnoea (19.6% (95% CI 12.8-28.7%)). Many patients experienced at least one symptom at 4-8 months (73.1% (95% CI 44.2-90.3%)) and 8-12 months (75.0% (95% CI 56.4-87.4%)). CONCLUSIONS A wide spectrum of persistent PASC-associated symptoms were reported over the 1-year follow-up period in a significant proportion of participants. Further research is needed to better define PASC duration and determine whether factors such as disease severity, vaccination and treatments have an impact on PASC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND We aimed to assess symptomatology post discharge from the hospital in patients with COVID-19 treated during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, and to follow care consumption and healthcare costs six months post discharge. METHODS This study was a descriptive observational study over time. Data were retrieved from the Sahlgrenska University (SU) hospital registry for patients admitted to an SU hospital during March 2020 to August 2020. Of these, 1014 received a questionnaire approximately six weeks post discharge regarding symptoms. Data regarding care consumption were retrieved from the registry in the Region Västra Götaland for 529 (52.2%) patients who completed the questionnaire. Of these, 466 patients were included in the analysis of care consumption. RESULTS There was a reported decrease in mobility from admission to discharge in both men (p = 0.02) and women (p = 0.01). The costs of inpatient care amounted to a total of 9 601 459.20 Euro (EUR). Symptoms were reported in 436 (93.6%) patients post discharge, of which weight loss during COVID-19 was most common in both men (n = 220, 77.5%) and women (n = 107, 58.8%). During six-month follow-up, 409 (87%) patients consumed care. Of the registered visits, 868 (27.1%) were related to a COVID-19 diagnosis. The total sum of outpatient care (i.e. visits with a registered COVID-19 diagnosis) was 77 311.30 EUR. CONCLUSIONS At discharge from the hospital, there was a decrease in mobility. Most patients had remaining sequelae post discharge. At six months post discharge, nearly 90% of patients had consumed care, with approximately 20% related to COVID-19. This indicates a persisting need for rehabilitation post discharge from hospital in patients treated for COVID-19.

Abstract
Background Few studies have reported the long-term health effects of COVID-19. The regional population-based Linköping COVID-19 study (LinCoS) included all patients hospitalised due to COVID-19 during the first pandemic wave. Four months post-discharge, over 40% (185/433) experienced persisting symptoms and activity/participation limitations, indicating post-COVID-19 condition (PCC). The present follow-up study aimed to determine the long-term recovery among these patients 24 months post-admission. Methods This prospective cohort study included all patients from LinCoS with PCC at four months post-discharge. We repeated the same structured interview at a 24-month follow-up to identify persisting symptoms and their impact on daily life. Intercurrent health issues were identified by reviewing medical records. Findings Of 185 patients with PCC at 4 months post-discharge, 181 were alive at the 24-month assessment and 165 agreed to participate. Of those, 21% (35/165) had been readmitted to hospital for various causes in the interim period. The majority of patients (139/165, 84%) reported persisting problems affecting everyday life at 24 months. Significant improvements were seen in the prevalence and magnitude of some symptoms/limitations compared with four months post-discharge. Cognitive, sensorimotor, and fatigue symptoms were the most common persisting symptoms at 24 months. No clear difference was evident between individuals treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) and non-ICU-treated individuals. Approximately half of those who were on sick leave related to PCC at four months after infection were on sick leave at 24 months. Interpretation This is one of the first studies to report 2-year outcomes in patients with PCC following COVID-19 hospitalisation. Despite some improvements over time, we found a high prevalence of persisting symptoms and a need for long-term follow-up and rehabilitation post COVID-19 infection. Abstract
BACKGROUND Between 30-76% of COVID-19 patients have persistent physical and mental symptoms, sometimes up to 9 months after acute COVID-19. Current rehabilitation is mostly focused on the physical symptoms, while experts have agreed on the need for a biopsychosocial approach. A novel approach such as Virtual Reality (VR) rehabilitation at home might benefit patients and therapists, especially considering the expected rush of patients with post-COVID-19-condition needing rehabilitation. OBJECTIVE To investigate the feasibility of self-administered VR exercises at home for post COVID-19-condition. METHODS This is a single-arm feasibility study in an outpatient care setting. Patients who needed physiotherapy because of post COVID-19 condition were included as determined by the treating physiotherapist. Participants performed VR physical exercises at home for a period of 6 weeks and were allowed to perform VR mental exercise apps available at the VR platform to reduce stress and anxiety and promote cognitive functioning. Main outcomes were related to feasibility, i.e. duration and frequency of VR use, safety i.e. adverse events, patient satisfaction, and reasons to withdraw. Physical performance, daily activities, cognitive functioning, anxiety and depression, and quality of life were measured before and after. RESULTS Forty-eight patients were included. One patient did not start VR and seven patients (15%) withdrew, mostly due to dizziness. Almost 70% of participants reported any adverse event during VR exercising. However, only 25% recalled these events at the end of the intervention period. The majority of patients described VR as having a positive influence on their recovery and the global satisfaction score was 67%. Average VR use was 30 minutes per session 3-4 times a week for 3-6 weeks. Overall use of VR applications was almost equally distributed over the three sets of VR exercises (physical, relaxing, cognitive). However, use frequency of physical exercises seemed to decrease over time, whereas use of cognitive and relaxation exercises remained stable. Physical performance and quality of life outcomes were significantly improved after six weeks. CONCLUSIONS VR physical exercises at home is feasible and safe with good acceptance in a significant percentage of patients with post COVID-19 condition. CLINICALTRIAL ClinicalTrials.gov NCT04505761.

Abstract
Background Survival among critically ill COVID‐19 patients varies between countries and time periods. Mortality rates up to 60% have been reported in intensive care units (ICUs). Standard‐of‐care has evolved throughout the pandemic. The purpose of the study was to explore management and mortality of COVID‐19 ICU‐patients during the first pandemic wave and assess their post‐ICU health status. Methods We conducted an exploratory observational ambidirectional population‐based study of ICU‐patients with COVID‐19 in a Swedish county during 1 March‐30 June 2020. Primary outcome was 60‐day mortality with secondary outcomes including treatments, complications, self‐reported general health and dyspnoea post‐discharge. Patients were consecutively divided into equal tertiles with cut‐offs on April 4 and April 20, 2020, to analyse time trends. Results One hundred patients, median age was 63 years, were included, and 60‐day mortality rate was 22%. Ninety‐one percent had moderate/severe ARDS and 88% required mechanical ventilation. In the first tertile of patients 60‐day mortality was 33%, declining to 15% and 18% in the following two. This reduction paralleled increased use of thromboprophylaxis, less steep rise of treated ICU‐patients per day and expanded ICU resources. Four months post‐discharge, 63% of survivors reported self‐assessed decline in general health retrospectively compared to prior COVID‐19. Conclusions In this cohort, the initial 60‐day mortality quickly declined, despite continuous admittance of critically ill patients. This was parallel to adaptation to increased workload and more intense thromboembolic prophylaxis. A majority of survivors reported declined general health four months after discharge. Further studies on long‐term health status of ICU‐survivors are indicated.

Abstract
The novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) generated a worldwide emergency, until the declaration of the pandemic in March 2020. SARS-CoV-2 could be responsible for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which goes from a flu-like illness to a potentially fatal condition that needs intensive care. Furthermore, the persistence of functional disability and long-term cardiovascular sequelae in COVID-19 survivors suggests that convalescent patients may suffer from post-acute COVID-19 syndrome, requiring long-term care and personalized rehabilitation. However, the pathophysiology of acute and post-acute manifestations of COVID-19 is still under study, as a better comprehension of these mechanisms would ensure more effective personalized therapies. To date, mounting evidence suggests a crucial endothelial contribution to the clinical manifestations of COVID-19, as endothelial cells appear to be a direct or indirect preferential target of the virus. Thus, the dysregulation of many of the homeostatic pathways of the endothelium has emerged as a hallmark of severity in COVID-19. The aim of this review is to summarize the pathophysiology of endothelial dysfunction in COVID-19, with a focus on personalized pharmacological and rehabilitation strategies targeting endothelial dysfunction as an attractive therapeutic option in this clinical setting.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This report describes and objectivizes reported problems among a cohort of previously hospitalized COVID-19 patients by clinical examination and determination of the required level of rehabilitation sevices. METHODS This report forms part of the Linköping COVID-19 Study (LinCoS) that included 745 individuals from one of 21 Swedish healthcare regions, Region Östergötland (RÖ), admitted to hospital for COVID-19 during March 1st-May 31st, 2020. In this descriptive ambidirectional cohort study, all 185 individuals who had reported concerning persisting symptoms were invited to a multi-professional clinical assessment of somatic, functional, affective, neuropsychological status and rehabilitation needs. Rehabilitation needs were assessed using three sub-scales of the Rehabilitation Complexity Scale-Extended. FINDINGS Among the 158 (85·4%) cases consenting and included in the analysis, we found a broad array of symptoms and signs attributable to COVID-19 involving respiratory, visual, auditory, motor, sensory and cognitive functions that could be confirmed clinically at five months post-discharge. This translated into 16% [95% CI 13-20] of survivors (70/433) of the total regional cohort of hospitalised patients requiring further rehabilitative interventions at follow-up. Weakness in extremities was reported in 28·5% [21·6, 36·2] (45/158). On examination, clinically overt muscle weakness could be corroborated in 15 individuals (10·5%) [6·1, 16·4]. 48% [40, 56] (76/158) reported cognitive symptoms, while the physician noted overt cognitive impairments in only 3% [1·1, 7·5]. In neuropsychological testing, 37% [28-46] (45/122) performed 1.5 SD below the norm, indicating neurocognitive deficits. Fifty-five individuals (34·8%) [27·4, 42·8] reported new or aggravated pain. In three fourths of them, it exerted a 'moderate' or worse detrimental effect on their ability to work. INTERPRETATION Our study underscores the importance of providing extensive examination of cases with persisting problems after COVID-19, especially since symptoms such as fatigue and breathlessness are highly nonspecific, but may represent significant underlying functional impairments. Robust neurocognitive testing should be performed, as cognitive problems may easily be overlooked during routine medical consultation. In the Swedish context, most rehabilitative interventions could be provided in a primary care setting. A substantial minority of patients should be triaged to specialized rehabilitation services.

Abstract
Visual function should be considered when reviewing the rehabilitation needs of patients after COVID-19. The association between vision-related issues and coexisting symptoms with an effect on body function and activity and/or participation highlights the need for multiprofessional rehabilitation assessment and intervention after COVID-19.
Objective To report vision-related symptoms and neuro-visual clinical signs in patients approximately 4 months after discharge from hospitalization after COVID-19 infection. To report on coexisting functional and activity limitations. Design The study is part of an ambidirectional population-based cohort study. Setting An outpatient setting in a hospital environment. Participants Patients from a population-based cohort study including all patients with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 admitted to hospital during a 3-month period in a health care region in Sweden. Among patients who, based on a standardized telephone interview, were identified as having persisting rehabilitation needs 4 months after discharge (n=185), several (n=57) reported vision-related symptoms. All 57 patients were invited to a neuro-visual examination. Six patients declined, 6 were unavailable, and 3 did not fulfil the inclusion criteria. Thus, 42 patients were included in the analysis (N=42). Interventions Not applicable. Main Outcome Measures Vision-related symptoms, neuro-visual function, and coexisting impairments affecting activities of daily life and participation. Results A total of 31% of patients with rehabilitation needs after COVID-19 reported vision-related symptoms. Reading-related issues (73.8%), blurry vision (69.0%), and light sensitivity (66.7%) were the most common symptoms. Patients with reading-related issues showed a higher level of eye strain (P<.001). Neuro-visual deficits were found in 83.3% of the patients, mainly concerning eye teaming (23.1%-66.7%) and eye movement (28.6%-30.8%) functions. Patients with vision-related symptoms reported fatigue and 18 other coexisting symptoms to a greater extent (P≤.0001 to .049). Conclusions Neuro-visual symptoms and signs should be considered when assessing rehabilitation needs after COVID-19. The association between vision-related issues and coexisting symptoms with an effect on body function and activity and/or participation underlines the need for multiprofessional rehabilitation assessment and intervention.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The present study aimed to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis on the prevalence of one-year hospital readmissions and post-discharge all-cause mortality in recovered COVID-19 patients. Moreover, the country-level prevalence of the outcomes was investigated. METHODS An extensive search was performed in Medline (PubMed), Embase, Scopus, and Web of Science databases until the end of August 3rd, 2021. A manual search was also performed in Google and Google Scholar search engines. Cohort and cross-sectional studies were included. Two independent reviewers screened the papers, collected data, and assessed the risk of bias and level of evidence. Any disagreement was resolved through discussion. RESULTS 91 articles were included. 48 studies examined hospital readmissions; nine studies assessed post-discharge all-cause mortality, and 34 studies examined both outcomes. Analyses showed that the prevalence of hospital readmissions during the first 30 days, 90 days, and one-year post-discharge were 8.97% (95% CI: 7.44, 10.50), 9.79% (95% CI: 8.37, 11.24), and 10.34% (95% CI: 8.92, 11.77), respectively. The prevalence of post-discharge all-cause mortality during the 30 days, 90 days and one-year post-discharge was 7.87% (95% CI: 2.78, 12.96), 7.63% (95% CI: 4.73, 10.53) and 7.51% (95% CI, 5.30, 9.72), respectively. 30-day hospital readmissions and post-discharge mortality were 8.97% and 7.87%, respectively. The highest prevalence of hospital readmissions was observed in Germany (15.5%), Greece (15.5%), UK (13.5%), Netherlands (11.7%), China (10.8%), USA (10.0%) and Sweden (9.9%). In addition, the highest prevalence of post-discharge all-cause mortality belonged to Italy (12.7%), the UK (11.8%), and Iran (9.2%). Sensitivity analysis showed that the prevalence of one-year hospital readmissions and post-discharge all-cause mortality in high-quality studies were 10.38% and 4.00%, respectively. CONCLUSION 10.34% of recovered COVID-19 patients required hospital readmissions after discharge. Most cases of hospital readmissions and mortality appear to occur within 30 days after discharge. The one-year post-discharge all-cause mortality rate of COVID-19 patients is 7.87%, and the majority of patients' readmission and mortality happens within the first 30 days post-discharge. Therefore, a 30-day follow-up program and patient tracking system for discharged COVID-19 patients seems necessary.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To report findings on brain MRI and neurocognitive function, as well as persisting fatigue at long-term follow-up after COVID-19 hospitalisation in patients identified as high risk for affection of the central nervous system. DESIGN Ambidirectional observational cohort study. SETTING All 734 patients from a regional population in Sweden with a laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis admitted to hospital during the period 1 March to 31 May 2020. PARTICIPANTS A subgroup (n=185) with persisting symptoms still interfering with daily life at a telephone follow-up 4 months after discharge were invited for a medical and neuropsychological evaluation. Thirty-five of those who were assessed with a neurocognitive test battery at the clinical visit, and presented a clinical picture concerning for COVID-19-related brain pathology, were further investigated by brain MRI. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES Findings on brain MRI, neurocognitive test results and reported fatigue. RESULTS Twenty-five patients (71%) had abnormalities on MRI; multiple white matter lesions were the most common finding. Sixteen patients (46%) demonstrated impaired neurocognitive function, of which 10 (29%) had severe impairment. Twenty-six patients (74%) reported clinically significant fatigue. Patients with abnormalities on MRI had a lower Visuospatial Index (p=0.031) compared with the group with normal MRI findings. CONCLUSIONS In this group of patients selected to undergo MRI after a clinical evaluation, a majority of patients had abnormal MRI and/or neurocognitive test results. Abnormal findings were not restricted to patients with severe disease.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION This paper updates and summarizes the current evidence informing rehabilitation of patients with COVID-19 and/or describing the consequences of the disease and its treatment. EVIDENCE ACQUISITION Studies published from May 1st to June 30th, 2021 were selected, excluding descriptive studies and expert opinions. Papers were categorized according to study design, research question, COVID-19 phase, limitations of functioning of rehabilitation interest, and type of rehabilitation service involved. From this edition, we improved the quality assessment using the Joanna Briggs Institute checklists for observational studies and the Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool for randomized-controlled clinical trials (RCTs). EVIDENCE SYNTHESIS Twenty-five, out of 3699 papers, were included. They were three RCTs, 13 cross-sectional studies and nine cohort studies. Twenty studies reported data on symptom prevalence (N.=13) or disease natural history (N.=7); and five studies reported intervention effectiveness at the individual level. All study participants were COVID survivors and 48% of studies collected information on participants 6 months or longer after COVID-19 onset. The most frequent risks of bias for RCTs concerned weaknesses in allocation concealment, blinding of therapists, and lack of intention-to-treat analysis. Most analytical studies failed to identify or deal with confounders, describe or deal with dropouts or eventually perform an appropriate statistical analysis. CONCLUSIONS Most studies in this updated review targeted the prevalence of limitations of functioning of rehabilitation interest in COVID-19 survivors. This is similar to past review findings; however, data in the new studies was collected at longer follow-up periods (up to one year after symptom onset) and in larger samples of participants. More RCTs and analytical observational studies are available, but the methodological quality of recently published studies is low. There is a need for good quality intervention efficacy and effectiveness studies to complement the rapidly expanding evidence from observational studies.
