Abstract
A dual-mode immunoassay method was developed for colorimetric and fluorescence detection of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) based on streptavidin-induced gold nanoparticle aggregation (AuNP@SA). AuNP-modified streptavidin-biotin labeling AFB1 complete antigen aggregations (AuNP@SA@Bio-BSA-AFB1) were synthesized as the competitive binding and dual-mode probe. AuNP@SA@Bio-BSA-AFB1 aggregations possessed high colorimetric and fluorescence quenching intensities. AFB1 antibodies modified immunomagnetic microspheres were used as the capture probe. The competitive binding between AFB1 and AuNP@SA@Bio-BSA-AFB1 leads to changes in color and fluorescence intensity. The detection limit of the colorimetric method is 6.95 ng·mL-1, while that of the fluorescence method is 0.07 ng·mL-1. The practicality of the proposed strategy was demonstrated by determining AFB1 in spiked peanut samples.

Abstract
The rapid quantification of toxins in food and beverage products has become a significant issue in overcoming and preventing many life-threatening diseases. Aflatoxin-contaminated food is one of the reasons for primary liver cancer and induces some tumors and cancer types. Advancements in biosensors technology have brought out different analysis methods. Therefore, the sensing performance has been improved for agricultural and beverage industries or food control processes. Nanomaterials are widely used for the enhancement of sensing performance. The enzymes, molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP), antibodies, and aptamers can be used as biorecognition elements. The transducer part of the biosensor can be selected, such as optical, electrochemical, and mass-based. This review explains the classification of major types of aflatoxins, the importance of nanomaterials, electrochemical, optical biosensors, and QCM and their applications for the determination of aflatoxins.

Abstract
A dual-mode fluorescence/visual aptasensor was developed for straightforward and accurate determination of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) based on an Au/metal-organic framework (Au/MOF) composite. Aptamer-modified Au/Fe3O4 (Apt/Au/Fe3O4) served as the recognition element, and Au/MOF modified with complementary chains and 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (cDNA/TMB/Au/MOF) acted as the fluorescence and visual probes. These components are integrated to form conjugates (Apt/Au/Fe3O4-cDNA/TMB/Au/MOF). Upon the introduction of AFB1, some cDNA/TMB/Au/MOF dissociated from Apt/Au/Fe3O4, enabling the use of detached probes for visual detection. The undecomposed conjugates were isolated magnetically for use in fluorescence detection. As the AFB1 concentration increases, the visual signal intensifies and fluorescence intensity diminishes. Thus, the proposed aptasensor achieves the simultaneous fluorescence and visual determination of AFB1, obviating the need for material and reagent substitutions. The detection limits were established at 0.07 ng mL-1 for the fluorescence mode and 0.08 ng mL-1 for the visual mode. The effectiveness of the aptasensor was further validated by quantifying AFB1 in real samples.

Abstract
Biotoxins are ranges of toxic substances produced by animals, plants, and microorganisms, which could contaminate foods during their production, processing, transportation, or storage, thus leading to foodborne illness, even food terrorism. Therefore, proposing simple, rapid, and effective detection methods for ensuring food free from biotoxin contamination shows a highly realistic demand. Aptamers are single-stranded oligonucleotides obtained from the systematic evolution of ligands by performing exponential enrichment (SELEX). They can specifically bind to wide ranges of targets with high affinity; thus, they have become important recognizing units in safety monitoring in food control and anti-terrorism. In this paper, we reviewed the technical points and difficulties of typical aptamer screening processes for biotoxins. For promoting the understanding of food control in the food supply chain, the latest progresses in rapid optical detection of biotoxins based on aptamers were summarized. In the end, we outlined some challenges and prospects in this field. We hope this paper could stimulate widespread interest in developing advanced sensing systems for ensuring food safety.

Abstract
Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is a virulent metabolite secreted by Aspergillus fungi, impacting crop quality and posing health risks to human. Herein, a dual-mode Raman/fluorescence aptasensor was constructed to detect AFB1. The aptasensor was assembled by gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs), while the surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) and fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) effects were both realized. AuNPs were modified with the Raman signal molecule 4-MBA and the complementary chain of AFB1 aptamer (cDNA). MNPs were modified with the fluorescence signal molecule Cy5 and the AFB1 aptamer (AFB1 apt). Through base pairing, AuNPs aggregated on the surface of MNPs, forming a satellite-like nanocomposite, boosting SERS signal via increased "hot spots" but reducing fluorescence signal due to the proximity of AuNPs to Cy5. Upon exposure to AFB1, AFB1 apt specifically bound to AFB1, causing AuNPs detachment from MNPs, weakening the SERS signal while restoring the fluorescence signal. AFB1 concentration displayed a good linear relationship with SERS/fluorescence signal in the range of 0.01 ng/mL-100 ng/mL, with a detection limit as low as 5.81 pg/mL. The use of aptamer assured the high selectivity toward AFB1. Furthermore, the spiked recovery in peanut samples ranged from 91.4 % to 95.6 %, indicating the applicability of real sample detection. Compared to single-signal sensor, this dual-signal sensor exhibited enhanced accuracy, robust anti-interference capability, and increased flexibility, promising for toxin detection in food safety applications.

Abstract
In the ongoing pursuit of enhancing food safety and quality through advanced technologies, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) stand out for their antimicrobial properties. Despite being overshadowed by other nanoparticles in food sensing applications, AgNPs possess inherent qualities that make them effective tools for rapid and selective contaminant detection in food matrices. This review aims to reinvigorate the interest in AgNPs in the food industry, emphasizing their sensing mechanism and the transformative potential of integrating them with artificial intelligence (AI) for enhanced food safety monitoring. It discusses key AI tools and principles in the food industry, demonstrating their positive impact on food analytical chemistry. The interplay between AI and biosensors offers many advantages and adaptability to dynamic analytical challenges, significantly improving food safety monitoring and potentially redefining the landscape of food safety and quality assurance.

Abstract
A fluorescence biosensor for determination of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) based on polydiacetylene (PDA) liposomes and exonuclease III (EXO III)-assisted recycling amplification was developed. The AFB1 aptamer partially hybridizes with complementary DNA (cDNA), which is released upon recognition of AFB1 by the aptamer. Subsequently, the cDNA hybridizes with hairpin H to form double-stranded DNA that undergoes digestion by EXO III, resulting in the cyclic release of cDNA and generation of capture DNA for further reaction. The capture DNA then hybridizes with probe modified on PDA liposomes, leading to aggregation of liposomes and subsequent fluorescence production. This strategy exhibited a limit of detection of 0.18 ng/mL within the linear range 1-100 ng/mL with a determination coefficient > 0.99. The recovery ranged from 92.81 to 106.45%, with relative standard deviations (RSD) between 1.73 and 4.26%, for corn, brown rice, peanut butter, and wheat samples. The stability, accuracy, and specificity of the method demonstrated the applicability for real sample analysis.

Abstract
Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), a hepatotoxic and carcinogenic food contaminant, is commonly found in agricultural food. Herein, Au NPs anchored ZIF-8-derived porous carbon-ZnO (Au NPs/PCZIF-8-ZnO) was firstly synthesized to act as the sensing substrate. Then, a ratiometric electrochemical (EC) and "off-on" photoelectrochemical (PEC) dual-mode paper-based aptasensor was presented for AFB1 detection based on a distance-modulation sensing strategy. The independent signal transduction mechanisms and output mode not only broaden the dynamic detection range but also provide a self-verification to assay results, improving the sensitivity and reliability. The wide detection ranges of 0.1 pg/mL-100 ng/mL (EC mode) and 0.02 pg/mL-100 ng/mL (PEC mode) were obtained using dual-mode aptasensor, with detection limits of 36.7 and 9.3 fg/mL, respectively. The fabricated aptasensor exhibited excellent selectivity, reproducibility and stability. Furthermore, it exhibited good practicability for AFB1 assays in real samples, demonstrating great potential applications for food safety evaluation.

Abstract
In this work, a sensitive colorimetric bioassay method based on a poly(adenine) aptamer (polyA apt) and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) was developed for the determination of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1). The polyA apt, adsorbed on the AuNPs, especially can bind to the analyte while deterring non-specific interactions. This nano aptasensor uses cationic polymer poly(diallyl dimethyl ammonium chloride) (PDDA), as an aggregating agent, to aggregate gold nanoparticles. PolyA apt-decorated gold nanoparticles (AuNPs/polyA apt) show resistance to PDDA-induced aggregation and maintains their dispersed state (red color) with the optical absorbance signal at λ = 520 nm. However, in the presence of AFB1 in the assay solution, the specific aptamer reacts with high affinity and folds into its three-dimensional form. Aggregation of AuNPs induced by PDDA caused their optical signal shift to λ = 620 nm (blue color). AFB1 concentration in the bioassay solution determines the amount of optical signal shift. Therefore, optical density ratio in two wavelengths (A620/520) can be used as a sturdy colorimetric signal to detect the concentration of aflatoxin B1. AFB1 was linearly detected between 0.5 and 20 ng mL-1, with a detection limit of 0.09 ng mL-1 (S/N = 3). The fabricated aptasensor was applied to the detection of AFB1 in real corn samples.

Abstract
Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is a typical mycotoxin that signifacntly endangers public health and economy. In this study, we systematically studied the interaction of aptamers with AFB1 using circular dichroism, molecular dynamics, molecular docking, and fluorescence analysis. The truncated sequence aptamers were screened using molecular docking. We successfully obtained the AFB1 aptamer with higher affinity and its truncated form was enhanced by 5.2-fold compared to the initial AFB1 aptamer. In addition, for rapid detection of AFB1, we designed a fluorescent nano-adaptor sensing platform using RecJf exonuclease signal amplification strategy based on the optimal aptamer. The aptasensor showed satisfactory sensitivity towards AFB1 with a linear detection range of 1-400 ng/mL and a detection limit of 0.57 ng/mL. The aptasensor was successfully applied to the determination of AFB1 in soybean oil and corn oil with recoveries of 91.02 %-106.59 % and 87.39 %-110.61 %, respectively. The successful application of the AFB1 aptasensor, developed through bioinformatics truncation of the aptamer, provides a novel approach to creating a cost-effective, eco-friendly, and rapid aptamer sensing platform.

Abstract
A colorimetric sensor detects an analyte by utilizing the optical properties of the sensor unit, such as absorption or reflection, to generate a structural color that serves as the output signal to detect an analyte. Detecting the refractive index of an analyte by recording the color change of the sensor structure on its surface has several advantages, including simple operation, low cost, suitability for onsite analysis, and real-time detection. Colorimetric sensors have drawn much attention owing to their rapidity, simplicity, high sensitivity and selectivity. This Review discusses the use of colorimetric sensors in the food industry, including their applications for detecting food contaminants. The Review also provides insight into the scope of future research in this area.

Abstract
Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is highly toxic and challenging to remove, posing significant risks to both human health and economic development. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop rapid, simple, and sensitive detection technologies. In this study, we introduce a naked-eye and colorimetric method based on multiple isothermal amplifications coupled with CRISPR-Cas14a and investigate its biosensing properties. This technique utilizes composite nanoprobes (MAPs) comprising magnetic nanoparticles and gold nanoparticles. AFB1 is efficiently identified through an aptamer competition process facilitated by magnetic nanoparticles , which triggers multiple isothermal amplification. This converts trace amounts of the toxin into a large quantity of DNA signal. Upon specific activation of the CRISPR-Cas14a complex, the MAPs are cleaved, resulting in significant changes in both color and colorimetric signal. The method demonstrates acceptable sensitivity, with a detection limit of 31.90 pg mL-1 and a wide detection range from 0.05 to 10 ng mL-1. Furthermore, the assay exhibits satisfactory specificity and high accuracy when it is applied to practical samples. Our approach offers a universal sensing platform with potential applications in food safety, environmental monitoring, and clinical diagnostics.

Abstract
Photothermal therapy (PTT) has developed in recent decades as a relatively safe method for the treatment of cancers. Recently, various species of gold and silver (Au and Ag) nanostructures have been developed and investigated to achieve PTT due to their highly localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect. Concisely, the collective oscillation of electrons on the surface of Au and Ag nanostructures upon exposure to a specific wavelength (depending on their size and shape) and further plasmonic resonance leads to the heating of the surface of these particles. Hence, porous species can be equipped with tiny plasmonic ingredients that add plasmonic properties to therapeutic cargoes. In this case, a precise review of the recent achievements is very important to figure out to what extent plasmonic photothermal therapy (PPTT) by Au/Ag-based plasmonic porous nanomedicines successfully treated cancers with satisfactory biosafety. Herein, we classify the various species of LSPR-active micro- and nano-materials. Moreover, the routes for the preparation of Ag/Au-plasmonic porous cargoes and related bench assessments are carefully reviewed. Finally, as the main aim of this study, principal requirements for the clinicalization of Ag/Au-plasmonic porous cargoes and their further challenges are discussed, which are critical for specialists in this field.

Abstract
Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) with tremendous toxic effects has caused a serious threat to food security. Accurate quantification of AFB1 in food can effectively prevent the risk of human intake of AFB1. Herein, a colorimetric and fluorescent dual-mode aptasensor for accurate and sensitive detection of AFB1 has been developed based on MnO2 nanoflowers (MnO2NFs) for the first time. MnO2NFs could catalyze the oxidation of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) into blue oxidation product (TMBox) by H2O2, which would be used for visible detection of AFB1. Simultaneously, MnO2NFs can be served as a signal amplifier and reduced by ascorbic acid to generate lots of Mn2+ which would quench the fluorescence of calcein for fluorescent detection of AFB1. Both colorimetric and fluorescent methods have been successfully applied for determination of AFB1 in milk samples with satisfactory results. The proposed dual-mode detection method with high detection sensitivity and accuracy showed great promise for monitoring AFB1 in food.

Abstract
Trace amounts of mycotoxins in food matrices have caused a very serious problem of food safety and have attracted widespread attention. Developing accurate, sensitive, rapid mycotoxin detection and control strategies adapted to the complex matrices of food is crucial for in safeguarding public health. With the continuous development of nanotechnology and materials science, various nanoscale materials have been developed for the purification of complex food matrices or for providing response signals to achieve the accurate and rapid detection of various mycotoxins in food products. This article reviews and summarizes recent research (from 2018 to 2023) on new strategies and methods for the accurate or rapid detection of mold toxins in food samples using nanoscale materials. It places particular emphasis on outlining the characteristics of various nanoscale or nanostructural materials and their roles in the process of detecting mycotoxins. The aim of this paper is to promote the in-depth research and application of various nanoscale or structured materials and to provide guidance and reference for the development of strategies for the detection and control of mycotoxin contamination in complex matrices of food.

Abstract
High-toxicity secondary metabolites called aflatoxin are naturally produced by the fungus Aspergillus. In a warm, humid climate, Aspergillus growth can be considerably accelerated. The most dangerous chemical among all aflatoxins is aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), which has the potential to cause cancer and several other health risks. As a result, food forensicists now urgently need a method that is more precise, quick, and practical for aflatoxin testing. The current study focuses on the development of a highly sensitive, specific, label-free, and rapid detection method for AFB1 using a novel humanoid-shaped fiber optic WaveFlex biosensor (refers to a plasmon wave-based fiber biosensor). The fiber probe has been functionalized with nanomaterials (gold nanoparticles, graphene oxide and multiwalled carbon nanotubes) and anti-AFB1 antibodies to enhance the sensitivity and specificity of the developed sensor. The findings demonstrate that the developed sensor exhibits a remarkable low detection limit of 34.5 nM and exceptional specificity towards AFB1. Furthermore, the sensor demonstrated exceptional characteristics such as high stability, selectivity, reproducibility, and reusability. These essential factors highlight the significant potential of the proposed WaveFlex biosensor for the accurate detection of AFB1 in diverse agricultural and food samples.

Abstract
Mycotoxin contamination in food products can easily cause serious health hazards and economic losses to human beings. How to accurately detect and effectively control mycotoxin contamination has become a global concern. Mycotoxins conventional detection techniques e.g; ELISA, HPLC, have limitations like, low sensitivity, high cost and time-consuming. Aptamer-based biosensing technology has the advantages of high sensitivity, high specificity, wide linear range, high feasibility, and non-destructiveness, which overcomes the shortcomings of conventional analysis techniques. This review summarizes the sequences of mycotoxin aptamers that have been reported so far. Based on the application of four classic POST-SELEX strategies, it also discusses the bioinformatics-assisted POST-SELEX technology in obtaining optimal aptamers. Furthermore, trends in the study of aptamer sequences and their binding mechanisms to targets is also discussed. The latest examples of aptasensor detection of mycotoxins are classified and summarized in detail. Newly developed dual-signal detection, dual-channel detection, multi-target detection and some types of single-signal detection combined with unique strategies or novel materials in recent years are focused. Finally, the challenges and prospects of aptamer sensors in the detection of mycotoxins are discussed. The development of aptamer biosensing technology provides a new approach with multiple advantages for on-site detection of mycotoxins. Although aptamer biosensing shows great development potential, still some challenges and difficulties are there in practical applications. Future research need high focus on the practical applications of aptasensors and the development of convenient and highly automated aptamers. This may lead to the transition of aptamer biosensing technology from laboratory to commercialization.

Abstract
The reaction efficiency of surface-based DNA walker can directly affect the properties of a biosensor. Herein, three-dimensional (3D) DNAzyme walker were first fixed on the top of DNA tetrahedral scaffold to improve the immobilization efficiency. Ferrocene (Fc) that labeled at substrate strand ends effectively quenched the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) signal of Ru(bpy)2(cpaphen)2+, yielding the sensor in a "signal-off" state. Upon the addition of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), 3D DNAzyme walker was activated and fueled by Na+, accordingly releasing Fc and recovering the ECL signal of Ru(bpy)2(cpaphen)2+. Due to the high movement efficiency of such 3D DNAzyme walker, ultrasensitive detection of AFB1 was achieved in the range of 1.0 fg mL-1-10 ng mL-1, with a detection limit of 0.58 fg mL-1. Moreover, satisfactory results were obtained while detecting AFB1 in corn and peanut samples, suggesting it has a potential application in food safety analysis.

Abstract
In this work, authors have developed a portable, sensitive, and quick-response fiber optic sensor that is capable of detection of Aflatoxins B1 (AFB1) quantitatively and qualitatively. Using multi-mode fiber (MMF) and multi-core fiber (MCF), the MMF-MCF-MCF-MMF fiber structure based on symmetric transverse offset splicing and waist-expanded taper is fabricated. The evanescent waves are enhanced to form a strong evanescent field by etching the fiber surface with hydrofluoric acid. To successfully excite the localized surface plasmon resonance phenomenon, gold nanoparticles are deposited on the optical fiber probe's surface. Further, to modify the fiber optic probes, Niobium carbide (Nb2CTx) MXene and AFB1 antibodies are functionalized. Nb2CTx MXene is employed to strengthen the biocompatibility of the sensor and increase the specific surface area of the fiber probe, while AFB1 antibody is used to identify AFB1 micro-biomolecules in a specific manner. The reproducibility, reusability, stability, and selectivity of the proposed fiber probe are tested and validated using various concentration of AFB1 solutions. Finally, the linear range, sensitivity, and limit of detection of the sensing probe are determined as 0 - 1000 nM, 11.7 nm/µM, and 26.41 nM, respectively. The sensor offers an indispensable technique, low-cost solution and portability for AFB1-specific detection in agricultural products and their byproducts with its novel optical fiber structure and superior detecting capability. It is also useful for marine species like fish and consequently affecting health of human body.

Abstract
An AFB1-responsive aptamer-cross-linked hydrogel sensor was successfully constructed. Dual signal amplification strategy with Encapsulation of enzymesand exonuclease I. This method has great potential for AFB1 detection in peanut oil. The accuracy and consistency repeatability of this method are close to those of UPLC-HRMS.
For the on-site detection of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), a DNA hydrogel was prepared as a biosensor substrate, while an AFB1 aptamer was used as the recognition element. An AFB1-responsive aptamer-cross-linked hydrogel sensor was constructed using an enzyme-linked signal amplification strategy; AFB1 binds competitively to the aptamer, causing the hydrogel to undergo cleavage and release horseradish peroxidase (HRP). The addition of exonuclease I (ExoI) to the hydrogel causes the release of AFB1 from the aptamer, promoting additional hydrogel cleavage to release more HRP, ultimately catalysing the reaction between 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine and H2O2. The hydrogel sensor exhibited an outstanding sensitivity (limit of detection, 4.93 nM; dynamic range, 0–500 nM), and its selectivity towards seven other mycotoxins was confirmed. The feasibility and reliability were verified by measuring the AFB1 levels in peanut oil (recoveries, 89.59–95.66 %; relative standard deviation, <7%); the obtained results were comparable to those obtained by UPLC-HRMS.

Abstract
Paraquat is a widely used herbicide for controlling weeds and grasses in agriculture, and its contaminated residues in agricultural areas are of increasing concern. This work reports the development of the sensitive and easy-to-use colorimetric aptasensor for screening paraquat residues in agricultural soil. The short DNA fragments derived from the original aptamer were analyzed for their capability to interact with paraquat by molecular dynamic simulation. The paraquat-aptasensor was developed using the selected DNA fragment and gold nanoparticles. Its limit of detection (LOD) for paraquat is 2.76 nM, which is more sensitive than the aptasensor with long-length aptamer (LOD = 12.98 nM). The developed aptasensor shows the selectivity to paraquat, but not to other tested herbicides; ametryn, atrazine, difenzoquat, 2,4-D-dimethyl ammonium, and glufosinate. The recovery rates of paraquat detection in the spiked soil samples were in a range of 99.5%-105.1%, with relative standard deviation values of <4%. The developed aptasensor was used to screen for paraquat residues in agricultural soils, and three out of 23 soil samples were tested positive for paraquat, which was confirmed by a high-performance liquid chromatography analysis. These results suggested the potential application of the developed aptasensor to detect paraquat residues in agricultural sites.

Abstract
Mycotoxins, which are toxic secondary metabolites produced by fungi, are harmful to humans. Mycotoxin-induced contamination has drawn attention worldwide. Consequently, the development of reliable and sensitive detection methods and high-efficiency control strategies for mycotoxins is important to safeguard food industry safety and public health. With the rapid development of nanotechnology, many novel nanomaterials that provide tremendous opportunities for greatly improving the detection and control performance of mycotoxins because of their unique properties have emerged. This review comprehensively summarizes recent trends in the application of nanomaterials for detecting mycotoxins (fluorescence, colorimetric, surface-enhanced Raman scattering, electrochemical, and point-of-care testing) and controlling mycotoxins (inhibition of fungal growth, mycotoxin absorption, and degradation). These detection methods possess the advantages of high sensitivity and selectivity, operational simplicity, and rapidity. With research attention on the control of mycotoxins and the gradual excavation of the properties of nanomaterials, nanomaterials are also employed for the inhibition of fungal growth, mycotoxin absorption, and mycotoxin degradation, and impressive controlling effects are obtained. This review is expected to provide the readers insight into this state-of-the-art area and a reference to design nanomaterials-based schemes for the detection and control of mycotoxins.

Abstract
Aflatoxin is regarded as the potent carcinogenic agent which is secreted from fungi and present in some food products. So far, many detection methods have been developed to determine the trace amounts of aflatoxin in foods. In the present study a colorimetric competitive assay for detection of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) has been developed based on interaction of gelatin functionalized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs@gelatin) in specific enzymatic reaction. Bacterial supernatant containing gelatinase enzyme were used as the substrate that could digest the coated gelatin on the surface of AuNPs and following in the presence of NaCl medium ingredient resulted to color change of AuNPs colloidal solution from red to purple. It was observed that with addition of aflatoxin to the bacterial supernatant, aflatoxin could interfere in aggregation of AuNPs and inhibited the process which subsequently prevent the expected color change induced by AuNPs aggregation. The supernatant containing AuNPs were investigated to analyze their induced surface plasmon resonance spectra through UV-visible spectroscopy. The absorption values were directly proportional with the applied AFB1 concentration. The experiment conditions including incubation time, AuNPs concentration and pH were investigated. The obtained results showed that through this approach we could detect the AFB1 in a linear range from 10 to 140 pg ml-1, with detection limit of 4 pg ml-1. Real sample assay in saffron samples showed recoveries percentage of 92.4%-95.3%. The applied approach proposed simple, cost effective and specific method for detection of AFB1 toxin in food samples.
