Abstract
Background The association between psychological stress and erectile dysfunction (ED) has been reported, but the causality of different types of stressors on ED is poorly understood. Aim This study aims to investigate the causal relationship between various forms of psychological stress and ED through Mendelian randomization (MR). Methods Several genome-wide association study (GWAS) datasets related to chronic psychological stress were used in this study for the identification of instrumental variables. Concurrently, a genome-wide association studies database provided the ED outcome data containing 6175 ED patients and 217 630 controls. The MR-Egger, inverse variance weighting (IVW), weighted median, and maximum likelihood methods were applied to conduct the MR study and IVW was taken as the primary criterion. Outcomes Mendelian randomization analyses revealed that financial difficulties were associated with a heightened risk of ED, whereas the absence of stressors was linked to a decreased risk. Results Among the various types of psychological stressors analyzed, financial difficulties were found to significantly increase the risk of ED (P = .022, OR = 4.343, 95%CI = 1.240-15.216). In contrast, other stressors did not significantly elevate the risk of ED. Furthermore, the absence of these stressors was associated with a reduced risk of ED (P = .009, OR = 0.211, 95% CI = 0.066-0.681). Clinical implications This study emphasizes the enormous impact of psychological stress, especially financial hardship, in increasing the risk of ED. Strengths and limitations This study is the first to employ MR analysis to investigate the causal relationship between various stressors and ED. However, this study did not consider the influence of non-genetic factors such as living environment and lifestyles. Conclusion Psychological stress, particularly financial difficulties, can increase the risk of ED, while the absence of such stressors appears to be protective. Consequently, it is imperative to enhance medical education and awareness among economically disadvantaged populations and to address the detrimental effects of adverse lifestyles.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW The goal of this paper is to provide a summary of the recent research, evaluation, work-up, and treatment recommendations regarding erectile dysfunction in adolescents and young adults to better equip pediatric urologists to manage patients with this condition. RECENT FINDINGS The latest research regarding erectile dysfunction in this population includes organic and psychogenic etiologies, correlations between the COVID-19 pandemic, and online pornography consumption. In our large pediatric urology practice, we found an 31x increase of adolescent males presenting with erectile dysfunction since 2014. The majority of cases are attributed to a psychogenic etiology such as anxiety or depression. It is likely that with stress from anxiety and depression, cortisol levels rise, increasing vascular resistance and leading erectile dysfunction in this population. Most patients want to be reassured of normal testosterone levels, offered cognitive behavioral therapy, and be rehabilitated with tadalafil starting at 5 mg p.o. daily until tapered.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There has been a great deal of public speculation regarding a surge in erectile dysfunction (ED) in younger men despite data consistently indicating that the ED prevalence rates increase with age. AIM In this study we sought to assess the prevalence and risk of experiencing ED in a nationally representative sample of men in the United States across various social groups, describe comorbidities, and examine barriers to treatment. METHODS Data from the 2021 National Survey of Sexual Wellbeing were analyzed by utilizing the Ipsos KnowledgePanel®, a probability-based online panel, for the purpose of obtaining US nationally representative data of adults aged 18 years and older. The analytic sample consisted of 1822 cisgender men ranging in age from 18 to 87 years, with a mean age of 47.5 years. OUTCOMES Study outcomes were ED as measured by the 5-item version of the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF-5), as well as self-reported diagnosis by a medical professional, comorbidities with other health issues, medications taken for ED, and barriers to treatment. RESULTS The ED prevalence rate based on IIEF-5 scores was 24.2%. Prevalence increased with age: 52.2% of the 75+ age group, and 48.0% of the 65-74 age group meeting diagnostic criteria for ED. Diagnostic criteria were met for more participants in the 18-24 age group (17.9%) than the 25-34 (13.3%) or 35-44 (12.7%) age groups, but less than the 45-54 (25.3%) or 55-64 (33.9%) age groups. Only 7.7% (n = 141) of the sample reported having been diagnosed by a provider (n = 4 in 25-34, n = 6 in 35-44, n = 13 in 45-54, n = 39 in 55-64, n = 44 in 65-74, and n = 34 in ≥75-year olds), indicating a gap in access to treatment. The most common reason selected for not accessing care for ED concerns was a lack of need to see a provider in the past year. CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS The discrepancy between ED self-report and medical diagnosis is critical, given that ED can be an indication of underlying health risks. STRENGTHS AND LIMITATIONS This study is the first nationally representative update to information regarding the prevalence of ED in almost 2 decades. Standard administration of the IIEF-5 is limited to participants who have had sex in the last 6 months, so these rates do not include those men with ED who have been avoiding penetrative sex for a significant time. CONCLUSION The results indicate that ED prevalence and severity remain highest in older age groups and that most individuals who meet criteria for ED have not sought medical care related to this concern.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Sexuality is an integral part of human health, and sexual dysfunctions are prevalent issues that affect men and women. While reviews on sexual dysfunctions in various diseases have been conducted, overall data are scarce. OBJECTIVES To update the overall prevalence of sexual dysfunctions from available prevalence studies on both sexes. METHODS We used a 2-phase selection process to include cross-sectional studies that were conducted on the adult population and published between 2017 and 2022. The extracted data were prevalence, methodology, sample size, and location. Sensitivity and subgroup analyses were conducted to assess heterogeneity. RESULTS This review analyzed 4407 studies. Twenty-three met the established criteria: 9 on the male population and 14 on the female population. The meta-analysis included 7 articles on males and 13 on females. The prevalence of sexual dysfunction was 31% in men and 41% in women, with significant heterogeneity among the studies. Sociocultural differences and use of varying measurement methods were identified as the main factors contributing to heterogeneity. Subgroup analysis revealed decreased heterogeneity among studies that used the Female Sexual Function Index as a diagnostic tool for females. CONCLUSIONS The review highlights the notable variability in results due to methodological and geographic variations. Therefore, enhancing the training of professionals and standardizing the recording of patient data-through the Female Sexual Function Index and Male Sexual Health Questionnaire or by developing new ones for this purpose-could improve the consistency of research on sexual health.

Abstract
Background The inactivated severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccine has made significant contributions to fighting the epidemic in the past three years. However, the rapid development and application raised concerns about its safety in reproductive health, especially after several studies had observed a decrease in semen parameters following two doses of mRNA SARS-CoV-2 vaccination. Thus, it is necessary to comprehensively evaluate the effect of inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine on male fertility. Methods A retrospective cohort study was conducted in the Center for Reproductive Medicine of the Affiliated Hospital of Jining Medical University between July 2021 and March 2023. A total of 409 men with different vaccination status and no history of SARS-CoV-2 infection were included in this study. Their sex hormone levels and semen parameters were evaluated and compared separately. Results The levels of FSH and PRL in one-dose vaccinated group were higher than other groups, while there were no significant changes in other sex hormone levels between the control and inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccinated groups. Most semen parameters such as volume, sperm concentration, total sperm count, progressive motility and normal forms were similar before and after vaccination with any single dose or combination of doses (all P > 0.05). Nevertheless, the total motility was significantly decreased after receiving the 1 + 2 doses of vaccine compared to before vaccination (46.90 ± 2.40% vs. 58.62 ± 2.51%; P = 0.001). Fortunately, this parameter was still within the normal range. Conclusion Our study demonstrated that any single dose or different combined doses of inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccination was not detrimental to male fertility. This information could reassure men who want to conceive after vaccination and be incorporated into future fertility recommendations.

Abstract
Background In the aftermath of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, we sought to explore the causal association between COVID-19 and 17 prevalent post-COVID-19 syndrome (PCS) symptoms using Mendelian randomisation (MR) methodology. Methods We used 22 extensive genome-wide association study (GWAS) data sets, incorporating genetic variants as instrumental variables. Univariate Mendelian randomisation (UVMR) analyses involved 15 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) for COVID-19 patients, 33 for hospitalised COVID-19 patients, and 29 for patients with severe respiratory symptoms due to COVID-19. Furthermore, we further used multivariable Mendelian randomisation (MVMR) analyses based on 93 SNPs for COVID-19 patients, 105 for hospitalised COVID-19 patients, and 99 for patients with severe respiratory symptoms due to COVID-19. With these analyses, we aimed to assess the causal associations between varying levels of COVID-19 infection and 17 prevalent PCS symptoms while accounting for the influence of educational and income levels. Results UVMR analysis identified potential causal effects of COVID-19 genetic susceptibility on myalgia and pain in various regions. Hospitalised COVID-19 was potentially linked to erectile dysfunction and alopecia areata. Very severe respiratory confirmed patients exhibited increased pain and tobacco use. Meanwhile, the MVMR analysis demonstrated a potential causal link between hospitalised COVID-19 and heart arrhythmia, and a protective effect of COVID-19 on tobacco use after adjusting for educational and income levels. Conclusions Our MR analysis provides compelling evidence of causal associations between genetic susceptibility to COVID-19 and specific PCS symptoms, in which educational and income levels play a mediating role. These findings shed light on PCS pathogenesis and underscore the importance of considering social factors in its management. Tailored interventions and policies are crucial for PCS-affected individuals' well-being. Further research is needed to explore the impact of social determinants on COVID-19 patients and the wider population.

Abstract
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) may have a negative impact on the sexual health of male adults. An online questionnaire survey was conducted among male adults from February 04, 2023 to March 15, 2023 to analyze the impact of COVID-19 on the sexual health of male adults in China. Participants provided about their medical, social, lifestyle, and family situations information through questionnaires including the Brief Sexual Function Inventory (BSFI). Sexual function problems were defined based on predetermined cutoff values of the BSFI domain scores. A total of 1,250 male adults were included with median age as 32 years. According to the analysis of statistical results, sexual drive and erections firm enough to have sexual intercourse were reported to be present only a few days or less last month among 14.8 % and 11.1 % of COVID-19 survivors, respectively. Compared with uninfected persons, COVID-19 survivors had significantly lower scores on all BSFI domains and an increased risk of problems with sexual drive and erectile. In multivariate models of COVID-19 survivors, age ≥30 years, rural resident, lower education level, manual worker, lower income, and shorter duration from recovery to survey date were significantly associated with poorer overall sexual function. In this study, COVID-19 survivors was reported to have significantly poorer sexual function than uninfected persons. The COVID-19 may have had a significant impact on the sexual health of Chinese male adults. We need to focus on sexual dysfunction in COVID-19 survivors, and proactively provide effective interventions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Previous research has documented the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on male sexual and mental health. However, no prior study has evaluated the efficacy of online cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) during the COVID-19 pandemic for treating nonorganic erectile dysfunction (ED) by improving negative emotions and self-esteem. AIM To test the efficacy of online CBT for nonorganic ED during the COVID-19 pandemic in Shanghai, China. METHODS A randomized controlled trial was conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Paired t-tests and 1-way analysis of variance were used to analyze and compare erectile functioning, self-esteem, and emotional state between and within groups. OUTCOMES The main outcome measures included scores on the 5-item International Index of Erectile Function, Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale, 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire, and 7-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder scale to evaluate erectile functioning, self-esteem, depression, and anxiety, respectively. RESULTS In the CBT group, erectile functioning, intercourse satisfaction, orgasmic functioning, sexual desire, and overall satisfaction were significantly improved at posttreatment as compared with pretreatment (P < .05). After treatment, group differences in emotional state and self-esteem were observed between the CBT group and the control group. Results revealed that the CBT group had significantly better scores than the control group at posttreatment on the Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale (mean ± SD, 30.43 ± 6.51 vs 22.67 ± 10.74), Patient Health Questionnaire (7.07 ± 2.74 vs 11.07 ± 4.41), and Generalized Anxiety Disorder scale (8.36 ± 1.97 vs 11.13 ± 3.94; P < .05). CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS This study represents an important advance in understanding of the efficacy of online CBT for treating nonorganic ED in reproductive-age males during the COVID-19 pandemic. STRENGTHS AND LIMITATIONS The study participants, treatment modality, and COVID-19 pandemic background of this study are innovative and therefore strengths. However, our study has several limitations-namely, its sample size and use of self-report data to measure erectile functioning due to the pandemic. Further studies should incorporate sexual functioning-monitoring instruments as well as self-report data to measure erectile function. CONCLUSION Online CBT clearly improved the emotional state and self-esteem of patients with ED during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract
Over recent decades, the use of the Internet has dramatically increased, both for professional purposes and entertainment. We investigated the link between social media use, video games, dating apps, and pornography on men's sexual health, which makes life easier, but also carries potential threats. Online surveys including The International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) and Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale questionnaires were spread to young, sexually active men. We asked about demographics, sexual activity, and the use of social media, video games, dating apps, and pornography. We enrolled 702 men aged 18 to 60 years (mean 24.06 ± 5.70). In general, 1.6% of men were exposed to social media addiction. Social media addiction had a negative impact on IIEF scores, while pornography in general had no impact on men's sexual health. However, more extensive use of pornography was correlated with lower IIEF scores. A negative impact of dating apps use on the IIEF score was also found but the correlation was weak (p = 0.049). No correlation was found between playing games and IIEF. We conclude that social media addiction negatively affected men's sexual functioning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The development of strategies for the safe use of the Internet and dissemination of this knowledge through social media campaigns can help young people to recognize the first symptoms of social media addiction.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES We aimed to assess Long COVID sexual dysfunction among both sexes. PATIENTS AND METHODS A cross-sectional study at a multidisciplinary COVID clinic. Consecutive patients answered a symptom-based questionnaire, which included sexual dysfunction. Individuals reporting any degree of sexual dysfunction were compared with those who denied. A multivariable logistic regression was conducted to identify risk factors. A principal component analysis was implemented to explore other symptoms associated with sexual dysfunction. RESULTS All in all, 391 individuals recovering from COVID-19 completed the questionnaire, 211 women and 180 men. Mean age was 45.2 (SD 15.4) years. Most (280, 85.9%) had mild COVID-19, assessed at a median of 3.8 (IQR 2.0) months from diagnosis. Sexual dysfunction was reported by 55 (36%) of the men and 48 (28%) of the women. Increased age [per year; men OR 1.05 (95% CI 1.02-1.08)], long COVID cough [men 2.58 (1.05-6.32)], chest pain [women 3.54 (1.28-9.80)], irritability [women 3.45 (1.28-9.29)], paresthesia [men 4.23 (1.55-10.44); women 3.08 (1.14-8.32)], and emotional distress [men 3.26 (1.36-7.82); women 4.29 (1.65-11.18)] were significantly associated with sexual dysfunction. In women, sexual dysfunction was part of the emotional pattern, while among men, it was part of the emotional and pulmonary patterns. CONCLUSION Sexual dysfunction is a common manifestation of long COVID in both men and women. Presence of other long COVID symptoms, and older age, are associated with this phenomenon. Further studies should explore the mechanisms for long COVID sexual dysfunction in both men and women, as well as strategies for prevention and treatment.

Abstract
Long COVID disproportionately affects premenopausal women, but relatively few studies have examined Long COVID's impact on female reproductive health. We conduct a review of the literature documenting the female reproductive health impacts of Long COVID which may include disruptions to the menstrual cycle, gonadal function, ovarian sufficiency, menopause, and fertility, as well as symptom exacerbation around menstruation. Given limited research, we also review the reproductive health impacts of overlapping and associated illnesses including myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), connective tissue disorders like Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), and endometriosis, as these illnesses may help to elucidate reproductive health conditions in Long COVID. These associated illnesses, whose patients are 70%-80% women, have increased rates of dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, oligomenorrhea, dyspareunia, endometriosis, infertility, vulvodynia, intermenstrual bleeding, ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids and bleeding, pelvic congestion syndrome, gynecological surgeries, and adverse pregnancy complications such as preeclampsia, maternal mortality, and premature birth. Additionally, in Long COVID and associated illnesses, symptoms can be impacted by the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and menopause. We propose priorities for future research and reproductive healthcare in Long COVID based on a review of the literature. These include screening Long COVID patients for comorbid and associated conditions; studying the impacts of the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and menopause on symptoms and illness progression; uncovering the role of sex differences and sex hormones in Long COVID and associated illnesses; and addressing historical research and healthcare inequities that have contributed to detrimental knowledge gaps for this patient population.

Abstract
Introduction Little is known about the impact of the coronavirus on sexual behavior, function, and satisfaction. Aim The aim of the present study was to systematically review people's sexual function and behaviors and their changes in sexual activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods Comprehensive searches in PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus were conducted with keywords in accordance with MeSH terms: COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2, coronavirus, sexual health, sexual function, sexual dysfunctions, sexuality, sexual orientation, sexual activities, and premarital sex. Two reviewers independently assessed full-text articles according to predefined criteria: original design, English studies, and investigating either the general population or sexual minorities. Results Risk of bias in the studies was assessed by the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale, and data were pooled via random effects meta-analyses. We utilized the standardized mean difference to evaluate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on sexual activity, functioning, and satisfaction. We included 19 studies in the analysis and 11 studies in the meta-analysis, with a sample size of 12 350. To investigate sexual activity changes, a sample size of 8838 was entered into the subgroup analysis, which showed a significant decrease in both genders (5821 women, P < .033; 3017 men, P < .008). A subgroup meta-analysis showed that the sexual function of men and women during the COVID-19 pandemic significantly declined (3974 women, P < .001; 1427 men, P < .001). Sexual desire and arousal decreased in both genders, though mainly in women. In investigating sexual satisfaction changes during the COVID-19 pandemic, a meta-analysis with a sample size of 2711 showed a significant decrease (P < .001). The most indicative changes in sexual behaviors during the pandemic were the increase in masturbating and usage of sex toys. Greater COVID-19 knowledge was associated with lower masturbation, oral sex, and vaginal sex. The more protective behaviors were associated with less hugging, kissing, cuddling, genital touching, watching porn with a partner, and vaginal sex. Conclusion The COVID-19 pandemic led to increased challenges and changes for individuals' sexual behaviors. Efforts for preventive strategies should therefore be concentrated between pandemics, while ensuring that there is information available to the population during a pandemic for help in times of psychological distress or crisis.

Abstract
Background Previous studies have confirmed that both affect and emotion regulation strategies are closely associated with psychological capital (PsyCap) and resilience. These factors are assumed to buffer the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health, especially among males. However, these interactions have not been closely examined to date. To fill this gap, this paper explores the dimension-level relationships of these psychological constructs among Chinese males during the late stage of the COVID-19 pandemic and identified critical bridge dimensions using network analysis. Methods A total of 1,490 Chinese males aged 21-51 years completed self-report scales assessing emotion regulation strategies, affect, PsyCap, and psychological resilience. Two regularized partial correlation networks, namely the affect and emotion regulation-PsyCap network and the affect and emotion regulation-psychological resilience network, were then constructed to examine links between the dimensions of these constructs. The bridge expected influence (BEI) index was also calculated for each node to identify important bridge nodes. Results Positive affect, negative affect, cognitive reappraisal, and expressive suppression showed distinct and complex links to various dimensions of PsyCap or psychological resilience. In both networks, positive affect, cognitive reappraisal, and negative affect were identified as critical bridge nodes, with the first two having positive BEI values and the third having a negative value. Conclusion The findings elucidate the specific role of the dimensions of emotion regulation or affect in relation to PsyCap and psychological resilience, which facilitates further understanding of the mechanisms underlying these interrelationships. These findings also provide implications for developing effective intervention strategies to increase PsyCap and psychological resilience.

Abstract
COVID-19 has become a significant public health concern that has catastrophic consequences for society. Some preliminary evidence suggests that the male reproductive system may be an infection target for SARS-CoV-2. SARS-CoV-2 may be transmitted sexually, according to preliminary research. Testicular cells exhibit a high level of the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor, which enhances the entry of the SARS-CoV-2 into host cells. Some instances of COVID-19 have been documented to exhibit hypogonadism during the acute stage. Furthermore, systemic inflammatory reactions triggered by SARS-CoV-2 infection may cause oxidative stress (OS), which has been shown to have profoundly deleterious consequences on testicular functioning. This work gives a clear picture of how COVID-19 may affect male reproductive systems and calls attention to the many unanswered questions about the mechanisms by which this virus can be linked to men's health and fertility.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The Canadian government's response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic included the implementation of several restrictive measures since March 2020. These actions sought to decrease social contact and increase physical distancing, including that within universities. Such constraints were required to impede the transmission of the virus; however, concerns remain about their impact on the sexual and intimate relationships of university employees and students. AIM This study examined the associations between COVID-19-related stress and sexual frequency, sexual satisfaction, and relationship satisfaction, also testing the mediating role of psychological distress. METHODS The models were tested with Canadian data collected from university employees and students in 2 phases: the first wave in April-May 2020 (T1; n = 2754) and the second wave in November-December 2021 (T2; n = 1430), 18 months afterward. Participants completed self-report questionnaires online. Path analyses were performed to test the associations of the mediation models. OUTCOMES The principal outcomes included psychological distress determined via the Patient Health Questionnaire-4, relationship satisfaction measured via the Dyadic Adjustment Scale, and sexual satisfaction and sexual frequency ascertained through a single item each. RESULTS Overall, COVID-19-related stress was associated with higher psychological distress, which in turn was related to lower sexual frequency, sexual satisfaction, and relationship satisfaction. Similar results were obtained with T1 and T2 data, indicating the mediating effect of psychological distress. CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS These findings increase scholarly comprehension of the negative associations between stress/distress and sexual and romantic relationships. Sexuality and close relationships are vital to the quality of human life; thus, targeted interventions should be developed to reduce COVID-19-related stress and its impact on sexual and romantic relationships to mitigate the long-term influences of this unique global challenge. STRENGTHS AND LIMITATIONS To our knowledge, this study is the first to use a large sample size and replicate findings in 2 waves. Nonetheless, it is limited by the use of cross-sectional data. Longitudinal studies with the same participants are mandated to better understand the evolution of these outcomes. CONCLUSION COVID-19-related stress and psychological distress were found among participating university students and employees and were associated with lower sexual satisfaction, sexual frequency, and intimate relationship satisfaction. These results were observed at the early onset of the pandemic and 18 months afterward, suggesting that the stress generated by the pandemic were not mere reactions to the onset of the pandemic but persisted over time.

Abstract
Sexual health alterations are associated with disasters. Consequently, the COVID-19 pandemic may affect female sexual function. This study aimed to determine the COVID-19 pandemic effect on female sexual function and to know the risk of female sexual dysfunction. This online, cross-sectional, observational research was conducted during the pandemic period. A logistic regression model was used to investigate the associations between outcomes and potential risk factors. In total, 432 sexually active women participating in the region affected by the COVID-19 pandemic were analyzed. The overall findings of our study are that 60 percent of females were at risk for female sexual dysfunction. The average FSFI score was 21.27 ± 7.17. Comparing female sexual behavior before and during the COVID-19 pandemic reveals a significant decrease in the frequency of having sex per week, foreplay duration, and coital duration. In the multivariate analysis, the factors associated with the development of RFSD are age greater than 45 years (adjusted odds ratios (AOR) 15.09, 95% confidence interval (CI) 3.67-62.07), body mass index (BMI) greater than 25 (AOR 3.26, 95%CI 1.23-8.67), jobs as a healthcare provider (AOR 8.45, 95%CI 3.66-19.53), previous COVID-19 infection within the previous three months (AOR 36.81, 95%CI 10.93-123.98), and screened-positive anxiety (AOR 13.07, 95%CI 4.75-35.94). COVID-19 influences female sexual behavior and may increase the risk of sexual dysfunction in women. Concern for the effects of female sexual quality of life in high-risk individuals is essential.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The COVID-19 pandemic impacted profoundly on the wellbeing and social interactions of the world population, and all dimensions of sexual health were potentially affected by globally implemented preventive measures. OBJECTIVES The scoping review aimed to compile existing research investigating possible effects of COVID-19 lockdowns on adult sexual health, that is, sexual behavior, functioning, and satisfaction. Further, studies on the interplay between mental health and sexual well-being during the pandemic were reviewed. METHODS The review was conducted in accordance with guidelines established by the Joanna Briggs Institute and the Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) Checklist. On October 11-12, 2021, PubMed, Embase, PsycInfo, Cinahl, Cochrane, Sociological Abstracts and Scopus were systematically searched for relevant peer-reviewed papers employing quantitative methodology. Additionally, unpublished ("grey") research studies on the subject were retrieved. The screening, data extraction, and analysis of evidence were conducted by 4 independent reviewers using an iterative approach. RESULTS Based on 107 studies included, the scoping review showed that the pandemic had had a wide impact on all dimensions of sexual health. Except for solo sex activities, mainly negative COVID-19 implications were identified, although findings were, in sum, characterized by complexity and unpredictability. Thus, sexual behavior, functioning, and satisfaction during the pandemic appeared to be mitigated by a broad range of sociodemographic and contextual factors. Finally, sexual health seemed deeply entwined with overall mental health. CONCLUSION The scoping review revealed a broad range of COVID-19-related effects on sexual health, including an overall decline in partnered sex and a concurrent increase in solo sex activities. It also emphasized a need for future research to shed light on possible long-term consequences of the pandemic in various population groups and on all aspects of sexual health. Abstract
Throughout 2021, the scientific and medical communities were concentrated on dealing with the acute morbidity and mortality induced by the COVID-19 pandemic due to the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). We reviewed the present data for adverse effects of COVID-19 on the different parts of the male urogenital system during the dynamic situation of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the approval of COVID-19 vaccinations, there is a ray of hope at the end of this dark tunnel and a chance to look ahead for the management of long-term consequences in males with urogenital illness. A multidisciplinary investigation of these cases could provide information for establishing and optimizing treatment protocols.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Many studies across the globe have evaluated the adverse mental health consequences of COVID-19 in patients who suffered from COVID-19 infection. However, a comparative study of persons who suffered from COVID-19 infection and those who witnessed the COVID-19 infection in their close relatives is lacking. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES This study aims to compare the psychiatric morbidity in persons who suffered from COVID-19 infections, and those who witnessed the illness in one of their close relatives. METHODS In this cross-sectional online survey, 2,964 adult participants completed the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) Scale, Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCS-19), Brief Resilient Coping Scale (BRCS), The Brief Resilience Scale (BRS) and a self-designed questionnaire to evaluate other neuropsychiatric complications. RESULTS Compared to the close relatives who had witnessed COVID-19 infection, participants who developed COVID-19 infection had a significantly higher prevalence of depression (34.6%), anxiety disorder (32.3%), and fear of COVID-19 infection (18.8%), which was significantly higher than that noted in close relatives. However, BRS coping score was not significantly different between the two groups. Overall, about one-third of the participants who developed COVID-19 infection had depression and one-third had anxiety disorders. One-fifth of the participants reported high fear, post-traumatic symptoms, and obsessive-compulsive symptoms, whereas one-sixth reported other neuropsychiatric manifestations. CONCLUSION Patients who suffered from COVID-19 have a higher prevalence of depression, anxiety, and fear as compared to those to witnessed COVID-19 in relatives.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW The COVID-19 pandemic has led to devastating health outcomes across the world. Initially thought to primarily affect the respiratory system, there is now clear and abundant evidence that COVID-19 can impact upon the male genitourinary system and overall men's health. In this review article, we explore the potential mechanisms by which COVID-19 specifically affects men and we review the literature examining the adverse effects of the disease on men's health. RECENT FINDINGS Studies suggest that men are at higher risk for severe COVID-19 infection and death. COVID-19 infection has a negative impact on men's health including worsening semen parameters, potentially lower testosterone levels, and an increased risk of erectile dysfunction. SUMMARY COVID-19 is a highly pathogenic virus that exerts adverse effects upon the male genitourinary system in myriad ways. The COVID-19 infection can impact serum testosterone, fertility, sexual function, and mental health. Fortunately, the COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective in preventing COVID-19 infection and many of these sequelae.

Abstract
Background Erectile dysfunction (ED) is suspected to be the symptom manifestation of COVID-19. However, scarce data was presented this day. Our study was conducted to determine the prevalence of ED and its associated factors among Thai patients with COVID-19. Methods Sexually active males with COVID-19, hospitalized between May and July 2021 at one university hospital in Bangkok, were screened for erectile dysfunction by the International Index of Erectile Function 5 (IIEF-5). Demographic data and COVID-19 treatment history were collected. Mental health status, including depression and anxiety, was evaluated with the Thai Patient Health Questionnaire 9 (PHQ-9) and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7), respectively. The sample size was calculated, and logistic regression was used to analyze the association. Results One hundred fifty-three men with COVID-19 were recruited. ED prevalence was 64.7%, of which severity was mostly mild. Logistic regression, adjusted for age, BMI, and medical comorbidities, portrayed a significant association between ED and mental health status. Higher risk of ED was found in participants with major depression [adjusted OR 8.45, 95% CI: 1.01–70.96, P=0.049] and higher GAD-7 total score [adjusted OR 1.15, 95% CI: 1.01–1.31, P=0.039]. Conclusions Thai patients with COVID-19 had high prevalence of ED, which was associated with mental disorders. Thus, screening for mental problems is recommended in individuals with COVID-19 and ED.

Abstract
Aim: To assess the profile of patients availing the marital and psychosexual clinic (MPC) services through the telemode at a tertiary care center after the imposition of lockdown and compare the same with the profile of the patients attending the outpatient services, in-person MPC services during the prelockdown period. Materials and Methods: It was a retrospective study in which comparisons were made between patients availing the MPC services from March 24, 2020 to March 23, 2021 with the profile of patients during the period of March 24, 2019 to March 23, 2020 (ie, COVID period—lockdown). Results: A total of 112 patients availed the MPC services during the COVID study period compared to 307 patients in the pre-COVID period. However, when the proportion of MPC cases among the total walk-ins was compared, during the COVID period the proportion of MPC cases increased by almost 1.75 times. During the COVID time period, there was an increase in the patients who were significantly younger ( P = .002), females ( P = .003), more from urban locality ( P = .035), and being referred by self or caregiver ( P = .001). In terms of specific diagnosis, as compared to the pre-COVID timeframe, significantly higher numbers of patients were diagnosed with premature ejaculation (PME) and PME + erectile dysfunction while the services were being provided through the telemode. Conclusion: The present study suggests an increase in the proportion of patients seeking help for marital and sexual issues while the services are being provided by telemode.

Abstract
Introduction Long term complications of COVID-19, the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2, involve many organ systems, dramatically worsening the quality of life, and finally contributing to impaired physical functioning. Despite the presence of well-identified pathogenetic mechanisms, the effect of “Long COVID” on sexual health has been only marginally addressed. Objectives To provide coverage of the current literature on long COVID, its epidemiology, pathophysiology, and relevance for erectile function. Methods. Comprehensive review of literature pertaining to the epidemiology and pathophysiology of long COVID, and its relevance for erectile function. Results Symptoms of long COVID are highly prevalent and involve almost all systems of the human body, with a plethora of clinical manifestations which range from minor nuisances to life-threatening conditions. “Brain fog” and fatigue are the most common complaints, although other neuropsychiatric complications, including sensory dysfunctions, anxiety, depression, and cerebrovascular events have also been reported. The respiratory and cardiovascular systems are also affected, with dyspnea, pulmonary fibrosis, endothelial dysfunction, and myocarditis occurring in some COVID long haulers. A subset of patients might develop endocrine manifestations, including onset of diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, and hypogonadism. Overall, long COVID features many complications which can impair erectile function by multiple pathogenetic mechanisms, and which could require tailored treatment: (i) careful investigation and management from the sexual medicine expert are therefore much needed, (ii) and future research on this topic is warranted. Conclusion in COVID-19 long haulers, several complications can adversely affect erectile function which, upon future tailored studies, could be used as biomarker for the severity of the long COVID disease and for its follow-up.
