Abstract
Amphiphilic materials can be used for sample preparation of chromatography or mass spectrometry. Amphiphilic materials with magnetic properties in combination with magnetic suction devices allow for automated sample preparation. However, conventional synthesis methods are cumbersome and not suitable for the mass production of the material. In this study, a micro-suspension polymerization method was developed to synthesize magnetic amphiphilic resin microspheres (MARMs), providing new ideas for the preparation of amphiphilic microspheres. MARMs with particle sizes ranging from 3 to 6 μm were successfully prepared, with BET surface area up to 653.2 m2/g. A magnetic solid-phase extraction method based on MARM-5 was developed for the extraction of four glucocorticoids including Cortisone, Hydrocortisone, Cortodoxone, and Corticosterone. This method had a very short adsorption time of 0.5 min and a total extraction time of only 13 min. The limit of detection for the four glucocorticoids ranged from 0.22 to 0.82 ng/L. There was a good linear relationship between sample concentration and peak area in the range of 25∼500 ng/L. Relative recovery of 98 %∼108 % and internal standard normalized matrix effect factors of 95∼114 % were obtained, and the relative standard deviation was between 2.3 % and 6.3 %. The MARMs would be used as excellent solid extraction material for glucocorticoids.

Abstract
This paper presents a study on the application of magnetic biochars derived from three distinct biomass sources: almond (AMBC), walnut (WMBC), and peanut (PMBC) shells for magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) of naproxen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, from human saliva prior to LC-MS analysis. The three magnetic biochars were synthesized and characterized through IR, XRD, SEM, and EDX analyses. This work explored the factors influencing extraction efficiency using these three bioadsorbents through experimental design. The results obtained revealed that magnetic biochar derived from almond shells demonstrated outstanding performance in terms of naproxen extraction, achieving an impressive yield of 100.2%. This remarkable efficiency was achieved by optimizing parameters, including a 12-minute extraction time, a 3.5 mL elution volume, a 10 mg adsorbent mass, and a 4-minute elution time. Consequently, this study established almond shell as a low-cost, environmentally friendly, and efficient magnetic biochar for extracting naproxen from human saliva. This superior performance was made possible due to the abundant lignocellulosic potential inherent in almond shell structures, surpassing that of the other two biochars. The combination of magnetic extraction with LC-MS demonstrates good linearity, with an R2 value equal to 0.9987. The limits of detection (LOD) and quantification (LOQ) are 0.013 and 0.047 μg L-1, respectively.

Abstract
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) have been recognized as a potentially serious threat to the natural environment. NSAIDs are popular painkillers, and the main pathway for them to reach natural water is via discharge from wastewater and sewage treatment plants. In order to monitor contamination caused by these drugs, as well as their impact on the environment, a new material based on Silica Gel 60, functionalized with a dendrimeric copolymer of methylamine and 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether (named MA-BDDE), was prepared. Initial physicochemical characterization of the MA-BDDE material was carried out using ATR FT-IR spectroscopy as well as solid-state carbon-13 NMR spectroscopy. Its effectiveness at NSAID extraction was evaluated by the application of five select drugs in dispersive solid-phase extraction (dSPE): aspirin, ketoprofen, naproxen, diclofenac and ibuprofen. This was followed by their simultaneous determination using the HPLC-UV/Vis system demonstrating good sensitivity, with limits of detection values within the 63-265 ng mL-1 range. A comparison of the sorption capacity of each pharmaceutical with unmodified base silica showed an at least tenfold increase in capacity after modification. Initial MA-BDDE application in a quick, low-waste extraction procedure of those select NSAIDs from spiked surface water samples yielded promising results for its use as a sorbent, as recovery values of analytes adsorbed from various samples were found to exceed 72%.

Abstract
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are widely used in human and animal health care to reduce persistent inflammation, pain and fever because of their anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects. However, the improper discharge and disposal make it becomes a major contaminant in the environment, which poses a big threat to the ecosystem. For this reason, accurate, sensitive, effective, green, and economic techniques are urgently required and have been rapidly developed in recent years. This review summarizes the advancement of sample preparation technologies for NSAIDs involving solid-phase extraction, solid-phase microextraction, liquid-phase microextraction, QuEChERS, and matrix solid-phase dispersion. Meanwhile, we overview and compare analytical technologies for NSAIDs, including liquid chromatography-based methods, gas chromatography-based methods, capillary electrophoresis, and sensors, particularly the development of liquid chromatography-based methods. Furthermore, we focus on their progress and conduct a comparison between their advantages and disadvantages.

Abstract
Different generations of polyamidoamine dendrimers were synthesized on a focal core of magnetic graphene oxide modified with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane. After the characterization of synthesized dendrimers, its second generation was employed as a suitable sorbent for simultaneous separation/preconcentration of diclofenac and acetaminophen by a dispersive magnetic solid phase microextraction. The extracted analytes were then quantified by high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection. Under optimized conditions, the limits of detection were 0.3 µg/L for diclofenac and 0.1 µg/L for acetaminophen. The intra-day relative standard deviations at 50 μg L-1 levels were 1.8% for diclofenac and 2.1% for acetaminophen, while the inter-day relative standard deviations were 3.6% and 4.5% for diclofenac and acetaminophen, respectively. The calibration graphs were linear in ranges of 1.0-500.0 µg/L and 0.5-600.0 µg/L for diclofenac and acetaminophen, respectively, with good coefficients of determination (r2 > 0.998). The method was successfully applied to the determination of diclofenac and acetaminophen in water, milk, and biological samples.

Abstract
Paper surface functionalization with polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimers has been developed for increased sensitivity analysis of proteins by paper spray mass spectrometry (PS-MS). PAMAM is a branched polymeric compound with an ethylenediamine core linked to repeating PAMAM units that generates an outer surface rich in primary amines. These positively charged amine groups can interact electrostatically with negatively charged residues (e.g., aspartate, glutamate) on the protein surface. PAMAM inner amide moieties can also promote hydrogen bonding with protein surface oxygens, making PAMAM a useful material for protein extraction. PAMAM-functionalized PS-MS paper strips were used to extract proteins from biofluids, dipped in acetonitrile to remove unbound constituents, dried, and then measured with PS-MS. The use of this strategy was optimized and compared with unmodified paper strips. PAMAM-functionalized paper substrates provided sixfold greater sensitivity for albumin, 11-fold for hemoglobin, sevenfold for insulin, and twofold for lysozyme. The analytical performance of the functionalized paper substrate was evaluated through the analysis of albumin in urine, achieving linearity with R2 > 0.99, LOD of 1.1 μg mL-1, LOQ of 3.8 μg mL-1, precision better than 10%, and relative recovery 70-83%. The method was applied to quantify urinary albumin from nine anonymous patient samples (concentrations ranged from 6.5 to 77.4 μg mL-1), illustrating its potential for the diagnosis of microalbuminuria. These data demonstrate the utility of paper modification with the PAMAM dendrimer for sensitive PS-MS analysis of proteins, opening a path for further applications in clinical diagnosis through the analysis of disease-related proteins.

Abstract
In this research, magnetic metal-organic framework nanofibers were produced by the electrospinning method. The nanocomposite was functionalized by third generation hyperbranched poly(amidoamine) dendrimer (PAMAM) to improve its dye adsorption efficiency from aqueous media. The characteristics of the synthesized magnetic nanocomposite was determined by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) along with elemental mapping analysis and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Central composite design (CCD) based on response surface methodology (RSM) was performed to optimize the adsorption variables and the values of coefficient of determination (R2) and adjusted R2 were 0.9837 and 0.9490, respectively. The results obtained demonstrated remarkable properties of the synthesized nanofiber as adsorbent for methylene blue from aqueous solutions with the removal efficiency of 95.37% and maximum methylene blue (MB) adsorption capacity of 940.76 mg g-1 under optimized conditions. In addition, it was shown that kinetics and adsorption isotherm of the dye removal process followed Langmuir and pseudo-second-order models, respectively. Thermodynamic study of the dye removal indicated that the process was spontaneous and favorable at higher temperatures. Also, the reusability study shows favorable dye removal efficiency of 80.67% even after 4 cycles. To investigate the performance of the adsorbent for the removal of MB in real samples, a sewage sample from a local hospital was used. The result showed good efficiency of the adsorbent.

Abstract
Due to the strong metal-sulfur interaction between mercapto groups and metal ions, which can be used to functionalize polyamidoamine dendrimer decorated Fe3O4 nanoparticles for high enrichment of trace heavy metal ions from waters. Based on this concept, polyamidoamine dendrimer modified Fe3O4 nanomaterials were functionalized with l-Cysteine and a new magnetic solid phase extraction for rapid adsorption and separation of Hg2+, Pb2+, Co2+ and Cd2+ from waters was established. The factors affecting extraction efficiency have been optimized. Upon the optimal parameters, the established method provided good linear ranges of 0.1-200 μg L-1 for Hg2+ and 0.05-200 μg L-1 for Pb2+, Co2+ and Cd2+, and high sensitivity with limits of detection (LOD) of 0.018 μg L-1, 0.014 μg L-1, 0.013 μg L-1 and 0.025 μg L-1 for Cd2+, Pb2+, Co2+ and Hg2+, respectively. Real water samples were utilized to validate the proposed method, and achieved results revealed that the proposed method was sensitive, effective, stable and suitable for monitoring Pb2+, Cd2+, Co2+and Hg2+ in environmental waters. This work provided a novel strategy for the simultaneous analysis of target cations in waters, and a new direction for developing decoration method of nanomaterials according to specific purpose.

Abstract
AbstractA microextraction procedure that is rapid and simple to extract and preconcentrate ketoprofen and naproxen is proposed. An environmentally friendly supramolecular solvent was applied as an extraction solvent and proved to be efficient in the extraction of ketoprofen and naproxen from environmental water. The design of experiment approach was used to screen, optimize significant parameters, and determine optimum experimental conditions. Under optimized experimental conditions, the vortex-assisted supramolecular solvent dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction provided a good linearity (0.57–700 µg L−1), low limits of detection (0.17–0.24 µg L−1) and extraction reproducibility below 9%. The high percentage relative recoveries (93.6–101.4%) indicated that the method is not affected by matrix. The practical applicability of the method was assessed by analysing ketoprofen and naproxen in river water and effluent wastewater samples. Both analytes were found in effluent wastewater.

Abstract
To improve the hydrophobicity and poor separability of hyper-cross-linked polymers (HCPs) in extraction, a porous magnetic adsorbent (Fe3O4@SHCP) was constructed by facile post-modification to introduce sulfonic acid groups and magnetic nanoparticles for the magnetic solid-phase extraction of heterocyclic aromatic amines (HAAs). Owing to the double extraction mechanism adopted by Fe3O4@SHCP, it has a high extraction efficiency for HAAs. Coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), 5 HAAs in baked cakes were detected at one time. Under optimal extraction conditions, the enrichment factor of HAAs was up to 952-986, with LODs at 0.05-0.3 ng·g-1. Based on the HPLC method, novel digital imaging colorimetry (DIC) was developed to accurately and rapidly monitor HAAs in cakes. Additionally, the established DIC method has been used to successfully evaluate the effect of baking temperature and duration on HAAs in baked cakes.

Abstract
An efficient, cost-effective, and fast-synthesis method is presented in the current study to prepare magnetic nanoparticles covered by cheap and nitrogen-rich creatine. The hydrothermal method was used for the synthesis of the magnetic core. The prepared magnetic core was then covered by SiO2 and subsequently functionalized using creatine. The prepared creatine@SiO2 @Fe3 O4 was utilized as a sorbent in the magnetic solid-phase extraction of the selected antidepressants including escitalopram and chlordiazepoxide as the model drugs. The extracted drugs were desorbed by a suitable organic solvent and analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography equipped with an ultraviolet detection system. The influence of different variables on the magnetic solid-phase extraction method was examined by the Plackett-Burman and Box-Behnken designs for screening and optimization, respectively. Under the obtained optimum conditions, the linear ranges of the method were found to be in the range of 1-500 µg L-1 . The limits of detection and limits of quantification were in the range of 0.27-0.63 µg L-1 and 0.89-1.93 µg L-1 for the selected analytes, respectively. Furthermore, the enrichment factors were found to be 79.8 and 92.7 for chlordiazepoxide and escitalopram, respectively. The method was successfully employed for the analysis of selected drugs in urine samples.

Abstract
Polystyrene (PS) microsphere is a kind of attractive extracting medium due to its high stability in different matrices and its particle size can be controlled. The attachment of amphiphilic copolymers to the PS microsphere surface can overcome the drawback of PS relevant to its hydrophobic nature and low wettability. In our previous work, the magnetic composite based on PS microsphere (5 µm) and poly (divinylbenzene-co-N-vinylpyrrolidone, DVB-co-NVP) shell was successfully fabricated and applied for the extraction of safrole in cola drinks. However, the large size and ease of sedimentation limited its application in the enrichment of safrole from blood samples. Considering the adjustability of PS microsphere size, we synthesized the porous PS microspheres with the uniform size of 3 µm and then functionalized with Fe3O4 nanoparticles and poly (DVB-co-NVP) layer in this work. Using the proposed material as extraction sorbent, a simple and fast magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) method coupled with HPLC was developed for quantification of safrole in the plasma. Under the optimized conditions, the response to safrole was linear in the range of 0.02-12 µg mL-1, and the limit of detection (LOD) was 0.006 µg mL-1. Satisfactory recoveries were obtained between 85.67% and 97.74% (spiked at 0.05, 0.2, 2 µg mL-1) and the relative standard deviations (RSDs) for the above spiked levels of the analyte were below 3.9% (n = 6). The adsorbent can be reused for 6 cycles without a significant loss of extraction capability.

Abstract
For sorbents, good magnetic properties and rich interactions with targets are important ways to improve the efficiency of magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE). The magnetic MOF-101 derivative (MD) was obtained by heat-treating MOF-101 at different temperatures. After a series of characterizations, it was found that MD-350 had the best magnetic properties and retained more functional groups of the original MOF-101, and had better extraction efficiency as compared to MD obtained under other treatment temperatures for the MSPE of four non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in water samples, coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The remaining functional groups of MD-350 can produce more interactions with NSAIDs, such as hydrogen bonding, π-π conjugation, and coordination interactions; good magnetic properties facilitate the separation of the sorbent and the solution. These advantages indicate that the established extraction method demonstrated satisfactory extraction performance: an excellent recovery rate (96.73-100.61%) with a short extraction time (15 min), a wide linear range (4-400 μg L-1) with a determination coefficient of 0.9975-0.9993, a low LOD of 0.2-0.5 μg L-1 and up to 12 times service-life without the loss of the recovery rate. Satisfactory results were also obtained in extracting NSAIDs from Yellow River. All these results indicate that MD-350 prepared under mild conditions has potential as an MSPE sorbent to detect and remove NSAIDs from environmental waters with high efficiency and long service life.

Abstract
Pharmaceutical analysis plays an important role in all steps of drug development processes.
Analysis of active pharmaceutical ingredients in biological samples needs sample preparation techniques
to prevent the signal of the analyte from interferences coming from matrix components. Ultrafiltration
is a well-known technique used in the food and pharmaceutical industry. Commercial ultrafiltration
devices have been frequently used on proteomics and metabolomics studies for sample preparation.
In pharmaceutical analysis, these devices have been employed to analyze the free concentration of
drugs in biological fluids after filtration. However, they have been rarely used to determine the total
concentration of targeted compounds when it is compared with some other common sample preparation
techniques. Ultrafiltration-based sample preparation might be used to clean-up the sample easily
from matrix components especially on bioanalysis performed with high-performance liquid chromatography
(HPLC). In the case of using protein precipitation agents on filtration procedure, the quantitative
recovery of this non-selective unique technique is competitive with solid-phase extraction.

Abstract
Development of novel functionalized adsorbents for efficient magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) is essential for promoting their versatile applications in sample pretreatment. Herein, we report the fabrication of a new polyethyleneimine-600 decorated magnetic microporous organic network nanosphere (Fe3O4@MON-PEI600) for effective MSPE of trace non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) from different water samples. The core-shelled Fe3O4@MON-PEI600 integrates the synergistic effects of Fe3O4, MON and PEI600, providing facile and effective extraction to NSAIDs via multiple hydrogen bonding, π-π and hydrophobic interactions. The inner MON shell employs π-π and hydrophobic interaction sites and the outer PEI-600 coat acts as the hydrogen bonding doner/receptor, which affords good extraction performance for NSAIDs. Under optimal conditions, the Fe3O4@MON-PEI600-MSPE-HPLC-UV method gives wide linear range (0.14-400 μg L-1), low limits of detection (0.042-0.149 μg L-1), good precisions (intra-day and inter-day RSDs < 4.5%, n = 6), and large enrichment factors (97.0-98.2). Extraction mechanisms and selectivity of Fe3O4@MON-PEI600 are evaluated in detail. Moreover, Fe3O4@MON-PEI600 is successfully applied to enrich the trace NSAIDs in different water samples with the concentrations of 0.7 and 0.8 μg L-1 for 1-naphthylacetic acid, 0.5 and 0.1 μg L-1 for naproxen as well as 0.7 μg L-1 for ibuprofen, respectively. The developed method not only affords a novel and efficient magnetic adsorbent for NSAIDs in aqueous media at trace level, but also provides a new strategy for the rational design and synthesis of multiple functionalized MON composites in sample pretreatment.

Abstract
In this research, the Cu-based metal-organic framework (MOF-199) was fabricated and coated on the stainless steel mesh as substrates through sol-gel procedure. Then the coated substrates were placed in a small column known as solid-phase extraction cartridge. The SPE based coated stainless steel mesh coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography-UV detector (HPLC-UV) was used for the fast extraction, and quantification of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) from human plasma and water samples. To find optimum extraction conditions, the impacts of effective parameters on analytical performance like sample pH, sample volume, type, and volume of desorption solvent were optimized. At the optimized conditions, calibration graphs of analytes were linear in the concentration range of 0.03-300 ng mL-1 for water samples, and 0.1-200 ng mL-1 for plasma samples. The correlation coefficients were in the range of 0.9938 to 0.9989. Also, the limits of detection (LODs) were from 0.01 to 0.02 ng mL-1 for water samples and 0.03 to 0.1 ng mL-1 for plasma samples. The cartridge repeatability was studied at different values, and the relative standard deviations (RSDs%) were achieved between 3.5 and 5.1%. Consequently, this procedure was successfully used in the extraction and detection of NSAIDs in real water and plasma samples with relative recoveries ranged from 93.6 to 99.6%.

Abstract
The in-situ synthesis and application of nanocubic Co3O4-coated graphene oxide (Co3O4@ GO) was introduced for the first time to present a cost-effective, stable and convenient operation and a simple device for hollow fiber solid-phase microextraction (HF-SPME) of four selected nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) including diclofenac, mefenamic acid, ibuprofen and indomethacin. The extracted analytes were desorbed by an appropriate organic solvent and analyzed via high-performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet detection (HPLC-UV). The prepared sorbent was approved using different characterization methods such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The variables effective on the Co3O4@GO-HF-SPME method including extraction time, desorption time, desorption solvent volume, sample pH, stirring rate and ionic strength were screened via Plackett-Burman design and then optimized by Box-Behnken design. Under optimal condition, the calibration curves were linear within the range of 1.0-200.0 µg L-1 of analyte concentration with detection limits of 0.18-1.1 µg L-1 and the relative standard deviations less than 10.1%. The limits of quantification (LOQs) were in the range of 0.60-3.67 µg L-1. Matrix effect was not observed with this method; therefore, standard addition is not necessary for quantification of target compounds. The enrichment factors were obtained in the range of 49-68. The relative recoveries of the urine sample analysis were calculated in the range of 93-102%. Finally, the presented method exhibited good sensitivity, excellent repeatability, high reusability and acceptable precision, which will be a promising method to analyze various nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in urine samples.

Abstract
In this work, a liquid-liquid microextraction methodology using solidified floating organic drop (SFODME) was combined with liquid chromatography and UV/Vis detection to determine non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) naproxen (NPX), diclofenac (DCF), and mefenamic acid (MFN) in tap water, surface water, and seawater samples. Parameters that can influence the efficiency of the process were evaluated, such as the type and volume of the extractor and dispersive solvents, effect of pH, agitation type, and ionic strength. The optimized method showed low detection limits (0.09 to 0.25 μg L-1), satisfactory recovery rates (90 to 116%), and enrichment factors in the range between 149 and 199. SFODME showed simplicity, low cost, speed, and high concentration capacity of the analytes under study. Its use in real samples did not demonstrate a matrix effect that would compromise the effectiveness of the method, being possible to apply it successfully in water samples with different characteristics.

Abstract
Using a co-precipitation method, starch-Mg/Al layered double hydroxide (S-Mg/Al LDH) composites were synthesized. Their physicochemical properties were assessed by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and thermo-gravimetric analysis. The quantification of six non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) was conducted using real samples (e.g., hospital waste water, river water, sewage treatment plant water, and tablet formulations) by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. For the development of this method, the system was optimized in terms of several key variables (e.g., pH, flow rate, and eluent type/volume). The developed method for NSAIDs exhibited good resolution, sensitivity, reproducibility, and specificity even in complex matrices with limits of detection between 4 and 20 pg/mL. Hence, S-Mg/Al LDH composites were proven to be efficient and fast solid phase extraction (SPE) sorbents for NSAIDs. In addition, each LDH-SPE cartridge showed good reusability without a noticeable change in performance (e.g., up to 30 cycles) and target recoveries between 99.5 - 82.9 %. This work should open up new opportunities for a sesnsitive and sustainable quantitative method for the determination of NSAIDs in complex samples.

Abstract
A green protocol has been developed for preparation of the wide variety of colored xanthene derivatives using a new efficient magnetic solid acid catalyst bearing polyamidoamine dendrimer moiety as a nanoscopic compound. Dendrimers, highly symmetric molecules around a core and 3D spherical morphology, show interesting traits based on their functionalized groups on the branched surface. They can be designed to provide water soluble structures or pseudo-active sites of biomolecules. The catalyst was assembled via a polyamidoamine dendrimer immobilized on the surface of γ-Fe2O3 followed by the sulfonylation of the amine groups by chlorosulfonic acid resulting in γ-Fe2O3@PAMAM-SO3H. Herein, PAMAM dendrimer with repeating amine/amide branches as catchable sites of sulfonic acid groups was introduced as transformer of homogeneous to heterogeneous acidic catalysts. The physicochemical properties of synthesized catalyst were studied using by FT-IR, FE-SEM, XRD, VSM, EDS, TGA/DTG, and TEM. Finally, the catalytic activity of γ-Fe2O3@PAMAM-SO3H was evaluated for the preparation of xanthene derivatives via a one-pot, three components reaction of aromatic aldehydes with i) β-naphthol, ii) cyclic 1,3-dicarbonyl, iii) β-naphthol and cyclic 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds, iv) 2-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone, leading to the eco-riendly preparation of the target compounds in good to excellent yields. The catalyst could be easily recycled for at least five consecutive runs without significant loss in its catalytic activity.

Abstract
The synthesis and application of glutathione-coated magnetic nanocomposite were introduced with the purpose of developing a stable, cheap, operationally convenient, simple, fast, sensitive, and selective device for the microextraction of diazepam and sertraline for the first time. The prepared glutathione@Fe3 O4 nanocomposite was used as the sorbent in the form of magnetic solid-phase extraction. Afterward, the extracted analytes were desorbed by organic solvent and analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet detection. Several influential variables such as desorption time, desorption volume, sample pH, extraction time, and sorbent amount were screened through Plackett-Burman design and then optimized via Box-Behnken design. The obtained results showed that the above-mentioned method enjoys a good linear range (0.2-500 μg/L) with the coefficient of determination higher than 0.9927, low limits of determination (0.07-0.24 μg/L), acceptable limits of quantification (0.22-0.93 μg/L), good enrichment factors (128 and 153), and good spiking recoveries (95-105%) for diazepam and sertraline under the obtained optimized condition. Analyzing the real samples results in the confirmation of the presented method and it can be applied for the analysis of various organic compounds in biological samples.

Abstract
AbstractIn the present study, a convenient and highly effective method was developed for the quantification of acidic drugs in wastewater and river water samples. Ultrasonic-assisted magnetic solid phase extraction employing magnetic waste tyre-based activated carbon nanocomposite functionalized with [3-(2-aminoethylamino)propyl]trimethoxysilane as a cost-effective and efficient adsorbent was used for the extraction and preconcentration of acidic drugs (naproxen [NAP], ketoprofen (KET) and diclofenac [DIC]). The quantification of target analytes was achieved by high‐performance liquid chromatography with diode array detector. Under optimum conditions, the detection limit, quantification limit and relative standard deviation obtained for the analytes of interest ranged from 0.38 to 0.76, 1.26 to 2.54 µg L−1 and 2.02 to 4.06%, respectively. The applicability of the developed method was assessed by the spike recovery tests and the relative recoveries proved that the method is reliable for the determination of acidic drugs in wastewater. Thereafter, the method was applied successfully for the determination of NAP, KET and DIC in river water, influent and effluent wastewater.
