Abstract
Lactic acid bacteria are gaining global attention, especially due to their role as a probiotic. They are increasingly being used as a flavoring agent and food preservative. Besides their role in food processing, lactic acid bacteria also have a significant role in degrading insecticide residues in the environment. This review paper highlights the importance of lactic acid bacteria in degrading insecticide residues of various types, such as organochlorines, organophosphorus, synthetic pyrethroids, neonicotinoids, and diamides. The paper discusses the mechanisms employed by lactic acid bacteria to degrade these insecticides, as well as their potential applications in bioremediation. The key enzymes produced by lactic acid bacteria, such as phosphatase and esterase, play a vital role in breaking down insecticide molecules. Furthermore, the paper discusses the challenges and future directions in this field. However, more research is needed to optimize the utilization of lactic acid bacteria in insecticide residue degradation and to develop practical strategies for their implementation in real-world scenarios.

Abstract
Bees play a crucial role as pollinators, contributing significantly to ecosystems. However, the honeybee population faces challenges such as global warming, pesticide use, and pathogenic microorganisms. Promoting bee growth using several approaches is therefore crucial for maintaining their roles. To this end, the bacterial microbiota is well-known for its native role in supporting bee growth in several respects. Maximizing the capabilities of these microorganisms holds the theoretical potential to promote the growth of bees. Recent advancements have made it feasible to achieve this enhancement through the application of genetic engineering. In this review, we present the roles of gut symbionts in promoting bee growth and collectively summarize the engineering approaches that would be needed for future applications. Particularly, as the engineering of bee gut symbionts has not been advanced, the dominant gut symbiotic bacteria Snodgrassella alvi and Gilliamella apicola are the main focus of the paper, along with other dominant species. Moreover, we propose engineering strategies that will allow for the improvement in bee growth with listed gene targets for modification to further encourage the use of engineered gut symbionts to promote bee growth.

Abstract
Despite the serious health threats due to wide use of organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs) have been experimentally claimed to be remediated by probiotic microorganisms in various food and organism models, the interactions between OPPs and probiotics in the natural wetland ecosystem was rarely investigated. This study delves into the spatial and temporal distribution, contamination levels of OPPs in the Baiyangdian region, the diversity of probiotic communities in varying environmental contexts, and the potential connection with OPPs on these probiotics. In typical shallow lake wetland ecosystem-Baiyangdian lake in north China, eight OPPs were identified in the lake sediments, even though their detection rates were generally low. Malathion exhibited the highest average content among these pesticides (9.51 ng/g), followed by fenitrothion (6.70 ng/g). Conversely, chlorpyrifos had the lowest detection rate at only 2.14%. The region near Nanliu Zhuang (F10), significantly influenced by human activities, displayed the highest concentration of total OPPs (136.82 ng/g). A total of 145 probiotic species spanning 78 genera were identified in Baiyangdian sediments. Our analysis underscores the relations of environmental factors such as phosphatase activity, pH, and electrical conductivity (EC) with probiotic community. Notably, several high-abundance probiotics including Pseudomonas chlororaphis, Clostridium sp., Lactobacillus fermentum, and Pseudomonas putida, etc., which were reported to exhibit significant potential for the degradation of OPPs, showed strongly correlations with OPPs in the Baiyangdian lake sediments. The outcomes of this research offer valuable insights into the spatiotemporal dynamics of OPPs in natural large lake wetland and the probability of their in-situ residue bioremediation through the phosphatase pathway mediated by probiotic such as Lactic acid bacteria in soils/sediments contaminated with OPPs.

Abstract
Honey is the most recognized natural food by-product derived from flower nectar and the upper aero-digestive tract of the honeybees. Significance of honey for its medicinal importance are well-documented in the world's oldest medical literatures. However, the current urbanization, environmental contaminations and changes in agricultural, as well as apiculture practices has led to various types of contaminations in honey. Among all, pesticide contamination has become one of the major issues worldwide. This review focuses on the recent updates concerning pesticides occurrence in honey, as well as how the repeated use and long-term exposure to honey contaminated with pesticide residues could affect the human physiological functions, possibly leading to the development of various cancers. Our findings suggests that uncontrolled use of pesticides in farming and apiculture practices leads to the occurrence of pesticides residues in honey. Therefore, regular consumption of such honey will pose a serious threat to human health, since most of the pesticides has been reported as potential carcinogens. This review will draw the attention of honey consumers, scientific communities, apiculture farmers, as well as governing bodies to strictly monitor the pesticide usage in floriculture, agriculture as well as other related practices.

Abstract
Bioconversion using insects is a promising strategy to convert organic waste (catering leftovers, harvest waste, food processing byproducts, etc.) into biomass that can be used for multiple applications, turned into high added-value products, and address environmental, societal and economic concerns. Due to its ability to feed on a tremendous variety of organic wastes, the black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) has recently emerged as a promising insect for bioconversion of organic wastes on an industrial scale. A growing number of studies have highlighted the pivotal role of the gut microbiota in the performance and health of this insect species. This review aims to provide a critical overview of current knowledge regarding the functional diversity of the gut microbiota of H. illucens, highlighting its importance for bioconversion, food safety and the development of new biotechnological tools. After providing an overview of the different strategies that have been used to outline the microbial communities of H. illucens, we discuss the diversity of these gut microbes and the beneficial services they can provide to their insect host. Emphasis is placed on technical strategies and aspects of host biology that require special attention in the near future of research. We also argue that the singular digestive capabilities and complex gut microbiota of H. illucens make this insect species a valuable model for addressing fundamental questions regarding the interactions that insects have evolved with microorganisms. By proposing new avenues of research, this review aims to stimulate research on the microbiota of a promising insect to address the challenges of bioconversion, but also fundamental questions regarding bacterial symbiosis in insects.

Abstract
The past few decades have witnessed biodegradation of pesticides as a significant method in remediation of the environment for its specificity, efficiency and biocompatibility. However, the tolerability and recyclability of the enzymes in pesticide degradation and the development of enzymes that biodegrad pesticides are still urgent problems to be solved so far. Herein, a novel hyper-thermostable and chlorpyrifos-hydrolyzing carboxylesterase EstC was immobilized by biomineralization using zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF), one of the metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with highly diverse structure and porosity. Compared with free enzyme, EstC@ZIF with a cruciate flower-like morphology presented scarcely variation in catalytic efficiency and generally improved the tolerance to organic solvents or detergents. Furthermore, there was scarcely decrease in the catalytic efficiency of EstC@ZIF and it also showed good reusability with about 50% residual activity after 12 continuous uses. Notably, EstC@ZIF could be used in actual water environment with an excellent value of degradation rate of 90.27% in 120 min, and the degradation efficiency remained about 50% after 9 repetitions. The present strategy of immobilizing carboxylesterase to treat pesticide-contaminated water broadens the method of immobilized enzymes on MOFs, and envisions its recyclable applicability in globe environmental remediation.

Abstract
The treatment of agricultural areas with pesticides is an indispensable approach to improve crop yields and cannot be avoided in the coming decades. At the same time, significant amounts of pesticides remain in food and their ingestion causes serious damage such as neurological, gastrointestinal, and allergic reactions; cancer; and even death. However, during the fermentation processing of foods, residual amounts of pesticides are significantly reduced thanks to enzymatic degradation by the starter and accompanying microflora. This review concentrates on foods with the highest levels of pesticide residues, such as milk, yogurt, fermented vegetables (pickles, kimchi, and olives), fruit juices, grains, sourdough, and wines. The focus is on the molecular mechanisms of pesticide degradation due to the presence of specific microbial species. They contain a unique genetic pool that confers an appropriate enzymological profile to act as pesticide detoxifiers. The prospects of developing more effective biodetoxification strategies by engaging probiotic lactic acid bacteria are also discussed.

Abstract
Environmentally relevant toxic substances may affect human health, provoking numerous harmful effects on central nervous, respiratory, cardiovascular, endocrine and reproductive system, and even cause various types of carcinoma. These substances, to which general population is constantly and simultaneously exposed, enter human body via food and water, but also by inhalation and dermal contact, while accumulating evidence suggests that probiotic cultures are able to efficiently adsorb and/or degrade them. Cell wall of probiotic bacteria/fungi, which contains structures such as exopolysaccharide, teichoic acid, protein and peptidoglycan components, is considered the main place of toxic substances adsorption. Moreover, probiotics are able to induce metabolism and degradation of various toxic substances, making them less toxic and more suitable for elimination. Other probable in vivo protective effects have also been suggested, including decreased intestinal absorption and increased excretion of toxic substances, prevented gut microbial dysbiosis, increase in the intestinal mucus secretion, decreased production of reactive oxygen species, reduction of inflammation, etc. Having all of this in mind, this review aims to summarize the state-of-the-art knowledge regarding the potential protective effects of different probiotic strains against environmentally relevant toxic substances (mycotoxins, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, pesticides, perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, phthalates, bisphenol A and toxic metals).

Abstract
Intensive conventional farm management, characterized by high agrochemicals input, could alter the composition of microbial communities with potential negative effects on both functional traits and the ecosystem services provided. In this study, we investigated the gut microbial composition of a high ecological relevance carabid Pseudoophonus rufipes, sampled in two fields subjected to conventional and organic management practices. Carabids' gut microbiota was analyzed via qPCR and NGS. Profound differences between the microbial composition of organic and conventional samples were detected: the abundance of Tenericutes and Proteobacteria was significant higher in organic and conventional samples, respectively. Spiroplasmataceae and Bifidobacteriaceae families were significantly more abundant in samples from organic management, while Enterococcaceae, Morganellaceae and Yersiniaceae were more abundant in samples from conventional management. The diverse gut microbial composition of insects between the two management systems is related to the pressure of environmental stressors and it may representing an important bioindication of ecological functions and services provided by a carabid species.

Abstract
Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) play pivotal roles in the preservation and fermentation of forage crops in spontaneous or inoculated silages. Highlights of silage LAB over the past decades include the discovery of the roles of LAB in silage bacterial communities and metabolism and the exploration of functional properties. The present article reviews published literature on the effects of LAB on the succession, structure, and functions of silage microbial communities involved in fermentation. Furthermore, the utility of functional LAB in silage preparation including feruloyl esterase-producing LAB, antimicrobial LAB, lactic acid bacteria with high antioxidant potential, pesticide-degrading LAB, lactic acid bacteria producing 1,2-propanediol, and low-temperature-tolerant LAB have been described. Compared with conventional LAB, functional LAB produce different effects; specifically, they positively affect animal performance, health, and product quality, among others. In addition, the metabolic profiles of ensiled forages show that plentiful probiotic metabolites with but not limited to antimicrobial, antioxidant, aromatic, and anti-inflammatory properties are observed in silage. Collectively, the current knowledge on the roles of LAB in crop silage indicates there are great opportunities to develop silage not only as a fermented feed but also as a vehicle of delivery of probiotic substances for animal health and welfare in the future.

Binding and Detoxification of Insecticides by Potentially Probiotic Lactic Acid Bacteria Isolated from Honeybee ( Apis mellifera L.) Environment-An In Vitro Study. Cells 2022; 11:cells11233743. Abstract
Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) naturally inhabiting the digestive tract of honeybees are known for their ability to detoxify xenobiotics. The effect of chlorpyrifos, coumaphos, and imidacloprid on the growth of LAB strains was tested. All strains showed high resistance to these insecticides. Subsequently, the insecticide binding ability of LAB was investigated. Coumaphos and chlorpyrifos were bound to the greatest extent (up to approx. 64%), and imidacloprid to a much weaker extent (up to approx. 36%). The insecticides were detected in extra- and intracellular extracts of the bacterial cell wall. The ability of selected LAB to reduce the cyto- and genotoxicity of insecticides was tested on two normal (ovarian insect Sf-9 and rat intestinal IEC-6) cell lines and one cancer (human intestinal Caco-2) cell line. All strains exhibited various levels of reduction in the cyto- and genotoxicity of tested insecticides. It seems that coumaphos was detoxified most potently. The detoxification abilities depended on the insecticide, LAB strain, and cell line. The detoxification of insecticides in the organisms of honeybees may reduce the likelihood of the penetration of these toxins into honeybee products consumed by humans and may contribute to the improvement of the condition in apiaries and honeybee health.

Abstract
Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are significant groups of probiotic organisms in fermented food and are generally considered safe. LAB regulate soil organic matter and the biochemical cycle, detoxify hazardous chemicals, and enhance plant health. They are found in decomposing plants, traditional fermented milk products, and normal human gastrointestinal and vaginal flora. Exploring LAB identified in unknown niches may lead to isolating unique species. However, their classification is quite complex, and they are adapted to high sugar concentrations and acidic environments. LAB strains are considered promising candidates for sustainable agriculture, and they promote soil health and fertility. Therefore, they have received much attention regarding sustainable agriculture. LAB metabolites promote plant growth and stimulate shoot and root growth. As fertilizers, LAB can promote biodegradation, accelerate the soil organic content, and produce organic acid and bacteriocin metabolites. However, LAB show an antagonistic effect against phytopathogens, inhibiting fungal and bacterial populations in the rhizosphere and phyllosphere. Several studies have proposed the LAB bioremediation efficiency and detoxification of heavy metals and mycotoxins. However, LAB genetic manipulation and metabolic engineered tools provide efficient cell factories tailor-made to produce beneficial industrial and agro-products. This review discusses lactic acid bacteria advantages and limitations in sustainable agricultural development.

Abstract
Toxic ingredients in food can lead to serious food-related diseases. Such compounds are bacterial toxins (Shiga-toxin, listeriolysin, Botulinum toxin), mycotoxins (aflatoxin, ochratoxin, zearalenone, fumonisin), pesticides of different classes (organochlorine, organophosphate, synthetic pyrethroids), heavy metals, and natural antinutrients such as phytates, oxalates, and cyanide-generating glycosides. The generally regarded safe (GRAS) status and long history of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) as essential ingredients of fermented foods and probiotics make them a major biological tool against a great variety of food-related toxins. This state-of-the-art review aims to summarize and discuss the data revealing the involvement of LAB in the detoxification of foods from hazardous agents of microbial and chemical nature. It is focused on the specific properties that allow LAB to counteract toxins and destroy them, as well as on the mechanisms of microbial antagonism toward toxigenic producers. Toxins of microbial origin are either adsorbed or degraded, toxic chemicals are hydrolyzed and then used as a carbon source, while heavy metals are bound and accumulated. Based on these comprehensive data, the prospects for developing new combinations of probiotic starters for food detoxification are considered.

Abstract
Widespread use of organophosphorus pesticides (OPs), especially superfluous and unreasonable use, had brought huge harm to the environment and food chain. It is because only a small part of the pesticides sprayed reached the target, and the rest slid across the soil, causing pollution of groundwater and surface water resources. These pesticides accumulate in the environment, causing environmental pollution. Therefore, in recent years, the control and degradation of OPs have become a public spotlight and research hotspot. Due to its unique advantages such as versatility, environmental compatibility, controllability, and cost-effectiveness compatibility, electrochemical technology has become one of the most promising methods for degradation of OPs. The fundamental knowledge about electrochemical degradation on OPs was introduced in this review. Then, a comprehensive overview of four main types of practical electrochemical technologies to degrade pesticides were presented and evaluated. The knowledge contained herein should conduce to better understand the degradation of pesticides by electrochemical technology, and better exploit the degradation of pesticides in the environment and food. Overall, the objective of this review is to provide comprehensive guidance for rational design and application of electrochemical technology in the degradation of OPs for the safety of the environment and food chain in the future.

Abstract
Organophosphates (OPs) are hazardous pesticides, but an indispensable part of modern agriculture; collaterally contaminating agricultural soil and surrounding water. They have raised serious food safety and environmental toxicity that adversely affect the terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems and therefore, it become essential to develop a rapid bioremediation technique for restoring the pristine environment. A newly OPs degrading Arthrobacter sp. HM01 was isolated from pesticide-contaminated soil and identified by a ribotyping (16S rRNA) method. Genus Arthrobacter has not been previously reported in chlorpyrifos (CP) degradation, which shows 99% CP (100 mg L-1) degradation within 10 h in mMSM medium and also shows tolerance to a high concentration (1000 mg L-1) of CP. HM01 utilized a broad range of OPs pesticides and other aromatic pollutants including intermediates of CP degradation as sole carbon sources. The maximum CP degradation was obtained at pH 7 and 32 °C. During the degradation, a newly identified intermediate 2,6-dihydroxypyridine was detected through TLC/HPLC/LCMS analysis and a putative pathway was proposed for its degradation. The study also revealed that the organophosphate hydrolase (opdH) gene was responsible for CP degradation, and the opdH-enzyme was located intracellularly. The opdH enzyme was characterized from cell free extract for its optimum pH and temperature requirement, which was 7.0 and 50 °C, respectively. Thus, the results revealed the true potential of HM01 for OPs-bioremediation. Moreover, the strain HM01 showed the fastest rate of CP degradation, among the reported Arthrobacter sp.

Abstract
Simple Summary Honey bees play a pivotal role in the sustainability of ecosystems and biodiversity. Many factors including parasites, pathogens, pesticide residues, forage losses, and poor nutrition have been proposed to explain honey bee colony losses. Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are normal inhabitants of the gastrointestinal tract of honey bees and their role has been consistently reported in the literature. In recent years, there have been numerous scientific evidence that the intestinal microbiota plays an essential role in honey bee health. Management strategies, based on supplementation of the gut microbiota with probiotics, may be important to increase stress tolerance and disease resistance. In this review, recent scientific advances on the use of LABs as microbial supplements in the diet of honey bees are summarized and discussed. Abstract Honey bees (Apis mellifera) are agriculturally important pollinators. Over the past decades, significant losses of wild and domestic bees have been reported in many parts of the world. Several biotic and abiotic factors, such as change in land use over time, intensive land management, use of pesticides, climate change, beekeeper’s management practices, lack of forage (nectar and pollen), and infection by parasites and pathogens, negatively affect the honey bee’s well-being and survival. The gut microbiota is important for honey bee growth and development, immune function, protection against pathogen invasion; moreover, a well-balanced microbiota is fundamental to support honey bee health and vigor. In fact, the structure of the bee’s intestinal bacterial community can become an indicator of the honey bee’s health status. Lactic acid bacteria are normal inhabitants of the gastrointestinal tract of many insects, and their presence in the honey bee intestinal tract has been consistently reported in the literature. In the first section of this review, recent scientific advances in the use of LABs as probiotic supplements in the diet of honey bees are summarized and discussed. The second section discusses some of the mechanisms by which LABs carry out their antimicrobial activity against pathogens. Afterward, individual paragraphs are dedicated to Chalkbrood, American foulbrood, European foulbrood, Nosemosis, and Varroosis as well as to the potentiality of LABs for their biological control.

Abstract
Sumithion induced hematoxicity and their recovery pattern in Barbonymus gonionotus was measured. Sumithion induces severe formation and prevalence of micronuclei and significantly (p< 0.05) increased white blood cells. Blood glucose, red blood cell, hematocrit, and hemoglobin were found to be decreased after the exposure of sumithion. In recovery experiment, the recovery rate was significantly higher in probiotic treated groups than other treatments. Fish micronucleus and hematology is an effective biomarker for toxicity test of an organophosphate.
The experiment was conducted to clarify sumithion induced hematoxicity in silver barb (Barbonymus gonionotus) through in vivo exposures (25 % and 50 % of LC50 of sumithion) and subsequent recovery patterns using normal and probiotic treated feed were also assessed. Three treatments each incorporating three replications were used in the experiment for different days (1, 7, 14, 21, and 28). Treatment T1 was control (0 mg/L), and two concentrations, such as 2.61 mg/L (25 % of 96 h LC50), 5.21 mg/L (50 % of 96 h LC50) were used as Treatment T2 and T3, respectively. After 28 days of exposure to pesticide half of the fishes of T2 and T3 were reared in sumithion free water with normal (T2N, T3N) and probiotic treated feed (T2P, T3P). The median lethal concentration (50 %) for 96 h was 10.42 mg/L. In pesticide-treated groups, values of each hematological parameter (blood glucose, red blood cell, hematocrit, and hemoglobin) decreased but prevalence and severity of micronucleus and white blood cells increased significantly (p< 0.05) with concentration and time duration. Other blood indices including mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH) and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) were correspondingly changed in comparison to the control. In the recovery experiment, the silver barb recovered spontaneously, but the recovery rate was significantly higher in probiotic treated groups than normally treated groups in time and duration reliant fashion. In conclusion, persistent sublethal dosages of sumithion caused hematological abnormalities in silver barb. Probiotic supplement can recover the damage but only 28 days of recovery is not enough to recover the total alterations.

Abstract
In this study, a validation of a multi-residue analysis method was performed for the simultaneous analysis of chlorpyrifos (CHL), deltamethrin (DEL) and Imidacloprid (IMI) residues and some of their metabolites in maize silage, by LC MS/MS. Extraction was conducted with acetonitrile acidified with 1% acetic acid. To avoid the matrix effect, a matrix matched calibration was used. The method was validated according to the SANTE/12682/2019 Guidelines. Selectivity, linearity, limit of detection (LOD), limit of quantification (LOQ), trueness (recovery %) and precision (intra-day and inter-day) parameters were evaluated in line with the SANTE document. The linearities of all compounds were quite confident (R2≥ 0.98) and no interference was observed. The LOD and LOQ values were between 2.76 µg kg-1 to 53.61 µg kg-1 and 9.19 µg kg-1 to 178.71 µg kg-1, respectively. The recovery, repeatability RDSr and reproducibility RDSR values of compounds were calculated between 93.7-109.2%, 1-15%, and 1-13%, respectively. Consequently, results obtained with the evaluation of all parameters were found to be compatible with the SANTE validation criteria, so the method was reliable, effective and easy to use for the detection of insecticides and metabolites in maize silage with LC MS/MS.

Abstract
Organophosphate hydrolase (OphB) gene from Pseudomonas sp. was transferred into Arabidopsis plants to observe the bioremediation ability and tolerance level of the transgenic plant to organophosphate pesticides contaminants. Gene transfer was observed by PCR of the transgenic Arabidopsis plants' genomic DNA. Expression of ophB gene and protein levels in the transgenic Arabidopsis plants was observed by western blot analysis. The transgenic plants were resistant and tolerant to chlorpyrifos (an organophosphate pesticide), as evidenced by a toxicity test, where the transgenic plants produced greater shoot and root biomass than that of wild type plants. The fresh weight of transgenic Arabidopsis plants' did not reduced significantly till 400 ppm chlorpyrifos treatment, but fresh weight of wild type Arabidopsis plants' significantly reduced by the application of 100 ppm chlorpyrifos. Moreover, in 600 ppm chlorpyrifos liquid culture, transgenic Arabidopsis plants' produced 1.34 g biomass from 100 seeds, but wild type Arabidopsis plants' produced only 0.24 g biomass from 100 seeds. This study indicates that transgenic Arabidopsis plants having ophB gene increase the tolerance level of organophosphate pesticides.

Abstract
The main objective of this work was to study the effects of probiotic strains, probiotic primary inoculated population, concentrations of spiked diazinon, physiology of probiotic bacteria, fermentation times, and cold storage period in six consecutive stages on diazinon reduction in apple juice. Chemical properties (pH, total acidity, and sugar content), probiotic viability, and diazinon reduction percent were monitored during fermentation and cold storage. Dispersive solid phase extraction (dSPE) followed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry was used to extract and measure diazinon concentration. Results showed that Lactobacillus acidophilus revealed the highest ability to reduce diazinon in apple juice after fermentation. Inoculation of L. acidophilus at 9 log CFU/mL showed significantly higher diazinon reducing ability than 7 log CFU/mL. L. acidophilus reduced diazinon in apple juice samples containing 1000 μg/L of spiked diazinon significantly higher than those containing 5000 μg/L. Heat-killed (dead) L. acidophilus bacteria reduced less diazinon content at the end of fermentation than viable bacteria. Furthermore, 72 h of fermentation was more effective in diazinon reduction. Spiked diazinon is completely disappeared at the end of cold storage (28 days) in treatments containing L. acidophilus, while the viability of probiotic bacteria required for causing health-promoting properties was maintained in apple juice.

Abstract
Chlorpyrifos (CPF) falls under the category of organophosphorus pesticides which are in huge demand in the agricultural sector. Overuse of this pesticide has led to the degradation of the quality of terrestrial and aquatic life. The chemical is moderately persistent in the environment but its primary metabolite 3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridinol (TCP) is comparatively highly persistent. Thus, it is important to degrade the chemical and there are many proposed techniques of degradation. Out of which bioremediation is considered to be highly cost-effective and efficient. Many previous studies have attempted to isolate appropriate microbial strains to degrade CPF which established the fact that chlorine atoms released while mineralising TCP inhibits further proliferation of microorganisms. Thus, it has been increasingly important to experiment with strains that can simultaneously degrade both CPF and TCP. In this review paper, the need for degrading CPF specifically the problems related to it has been discussed elaborately. Alongside these, the metabolism pathways undertaken by different kinds of microorganisms have been included. This paper also gives a detailed insight into the potential strains of microorganisms which has been confirmed through experiments conducted previously. It can be concluded that a wide range of microorganisms has to be studied to understand the possibility of applying bioremediation in wastewater treatment to remove pesticide residues. In addition to this, in the case of recalcitrant pesticides, options of treating it with hybrid techniques like bioremediation clubbed with photocatalytic biodegradation can be attempted.

Abstract
Diazinon is an organophosphorus pesticide widely used to control cabbage insects, cotton aphids and underground pests. The continuous application of diazinon in agricultural activities has caused both ecological risk and biological hazards in the environment. Diazinon can be degraded via physical and chemical methods such as photocatalysis, adsorption and advanced oxidation. The microbial degradation of diazinon is found to be more effective than physicochemical methods for its complete clean-up from contaminated soil and water environments. The microbial strains belonging to Ochrobactrum sp., Stenotrophomonas sp., Lactobacillus brevis, Serratia marcescens, Aspergillus niger, Rhodotorula glutinis, and Rhodotorula rubra were found to be very promising for the ecofriendly removal of diazinon. The degradation pathways of diazinon and the fate of several metabolites were investigated. In addition, a variety of diazinon-degrading enzymes, such as hydrolase, acid phosphatase, laccase, cytochrome P450, and flavin monooxygenase were also discovered to play a crucial role in the biodegradation of diazinon. However, many unanswered questions still exist regarding the environmental fate and degradation mechanisms of this pesticide. The catalytic mechanisms responsible for enzymatic degradation remain unexplained, and ecotechnological techniques need to be applied to gain a comprehensive understanding of these issues. Hence, this review article provides in-depth information about the impact and toxicity of diazinon in living systems and discusses the developed ecotechnological remedial methods used for the effective biodegradation of diazinon in a contaminated environment.

Abstract
In the past decades, the organophosphorus compounds had been widely used in the environment and food industries as pesticides. Owing to the life-threatening and long-lasting problems of organophosphorus insecticide (OPs), an effective detection and removal of OPs have garnered growing attention both in the scientific and practical fields in recent years. Bacterial organophosphorus hydrolases (OPHs) have been extensively studied due to their high specific activity against OPs. OPH could efficiently hydrolyze a broad range of substrates both including the OP pesticides and some nerve agents, suggesting a great potential for the remediation of OPs. Abstract
Chlorpyrifos (CP) is a class of organophosphorus (OP) pesticides, which find extensive applications as acaricide, insecticide and termiticide. The use of CP has been indicated in environmental contamination and disturbance in the biogeochemical cycles. CP has been reported to be neurotoxic and has a detrimental effect on immunological and psychological health. Therefore, it is necessary to design and develop effective degradation methods for the removal of CP from the environment. In the past few years, physicochemical (advanced oxidation process) and biological treatment approaches have been widely employed for the pesticide removal. However, the byproducts of this process are more toxic than the parent compound and along with an incomplete degradation of CP. This review focuses on the toxicity of CP, the sources of contamination, degradation pathways, physicochemical, biological, and nano-technology based methods employed for the degradation of CP. In addition, consolidated information on various detection methods and materials used for the detection have been provided in this review.

Abstract
Food pollution can cause a variety of negative effects on human health, especially reproductive toxicity. Common food contaminants include biological contaminants, chemical contaminants, and physical contaminants, among which endocrine disruptors, pesticides, and heavy metals have the greatest reproductive toxicity in chemical contaminants. Humans mainly solve food pollution through three aspects: decreasing the pollution of food raw materials, lowering the pollution in food processing, and reducing the harm to the human body after food pollutants enter the human body. With more and more research on probiotics, not only beneficial effects, but also the ability to reduce the toxicity of food contaminants is found. Thus, microbial treatment has been proved to be a more effective way to deal with food pollution. Recent research shows that several strains of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum can adsorb or degrade some chemical pollutants and relieve inflammation and oxidative stress caused by them. This review summarized the research to explore the possible role of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum in protecting human reproductive ability and maintaining food safety.

Abstract
Nowadays, people are exposed to diverse environmental and chemical pollutants produced by industry and agriculture. Food contaminations such as persistent organic pollutants (POPs), heavy metals, and mycotoxins are a serious concern for global food safety with economic and public health implications especially in the newly industrialized countries (NIC). Mounting evidence indicates that chronic exposure to food contaminants referred to as xenobiotics exert a negative effect on human health such as inflammation, oxidative stress, and intestinal disorders linked with perturbation of the composition and metabolic profile of the gut microflora. Although the physicochemical technologies for food decontamination are utilized in many cases but require adequate conditions which are often not feasible to be met in many industrial sectors. At present, one promising approach to reduce the risk related to the presence of xenobiotics in foodstuffs is a biological detoxification done by probiotic strains and their enzymes. Many studies confirmed that probiotics are an effective, feasible, and inexpensive tool for preventing xenobiotic-induced dysbiosis and alleviating their toxicity. This review aims to summarize the current knowledge of the direct mechanisms by which probiotics can influence the detoxification of xenobiotics. Moreover, probiotic-xenobiotic interactions with the gut microbiota and the host response were also discussed.

Abstract
Pesticides play an important role in agriculture; however, their excessive use causes several problems such as pollution of ecosystems and risks to human health. The presence of microorganisms able to degrade these pollutants can reduce their negative effect. The objective of this study was to test the capacity of Weissella confusa Lb.Con to tolerate or to degrade the chlorpyrifos pesticide. The results showed the capacity of the strain to tolerate a concentration of 200 μg/ml of chlorpyrifos. The strain Lb.Con has a remarkable capacity to grow in glucose-free MRS medium which contains different concentrations of chlorpyrifos. HPLC analysis showed that this strain was able to remove about 25% of chlorpyrifos. The evaluation of some probiotic properties showed that the strain Lb.Con had a remarkable resistance to the gastrointestinal conditions and a good antibacterial activity towards the pathogenic bacteria. The probiotic potential was evaluated to verify the possible use of W. confusa Lb.Con to detoxify harmful chlorpyrifos contained in food.

Abstract
Numerous honeybee (Apis mellifera) products, such as honey, propolis, and bee venom, are used in traditional medicine to prevent illness and promote healing. Therefore, this insect has a huge impact on humans’ way of life and the environment. While the population of A. mellifera is large, there is concern that widespread commercialization of beekeeping, combined with environmental pollution and the action of bee pathogens, has caused significant problems for the health of honeybee populations. One of the strategies to preserve the welfare of honeybees is to better understand and protect their natural microbiota. This paper provides a unique overview of the latest research on the features and functioning of A. mellifera. Honeybee microbiome analysis focuses on both the function and numerous factors affecting it. In addition, we present the characteristics of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) as an important part of the gut community and their special beneficial activities for honeybee health. The idea of probiotics for honeybees as a promising tool to improve their health is widely discussed. Knowledge of the natural gut microbiota provides an opportunity to create a broad strategy for honeybee vitality, including the development of modern probiotic preparations to use instead of conventional antibiotics, environmentally friendly biocides, and biological control agents.

Abstract
Chlorpyrifos is extensively used worldwide as an insecticide to control various insect pests. Long-term and irregular applications of chlorpyrifos have resulted in large-scale soil, groundwater, sediment, and air pollution. Numerous studies have shown that chlorpyrifos and its major intermediate metabolite 3,5,6-trichloropyridinol (TCP) accumulate in non-target organisms through biomagnification and have a strong toxic effect on non-target organisms, including human beings. Bioremediation based on microbial metabolism is considered an eco-friendly and efficient strategy to remove chlorpyrifos residues. To date, a variety of bacterial and fungal species have been isolated and characterized for the biodegradation of chlorpyrifos and TCP. The metabolites and degradation pathways of chlorpyrifos have been investigated. In addition, the chlorpyrifos-degrading enzymes and functional genes in microbes have been reported. Hydrolases can catalyze the first step in ester-bond hydrolysis, and this initial regulatory metabolic reaction plays a key role in the degradation of chlorpyrifos. Previous studies have shown that the active site of hydrolase contains serine residues, which can initiate a catalytic reaction by nucleophilic attack on the P-atom of chlorpyrifos. However, few reviews have focused on the microbial degradation and catalytic mechanisms of chlorpyrifos. Therefore, this review discusses the deep understanding of chlorpyrifos degradation mechanisms with microbial strains, metabolic pathways, catalytic mechanisms, and their genetic basis in bioremediation.

Abstract
Organophosphorus pesticides are highly toxic phosphate compounds with the general structure of O = P(OR)3 and threaten human health seriously. Methyl parathion hydrolase from microbial is an important enzyme to degrade organophosphorus pesticides (OPs) into less toxic or nontoxic compounds like. p-nitrophenol and diethyl phosphate. Here, a gene encoding methyl parathion hydrolase from Azohydromonas australica was firstly cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli. The recombinant hydrolase showed its optimal pH and temperature at pH 9.5 and 50 °C. Leveraging 1 mM Mn2+, the enzyme activity was significantly enhanced by 29.3-fold, and the thermostability at 40 and 50 °C was also improved. The recombinant MPH showed the specific activity of 4.94 and 16.0 U/mg towards methyl parathion and paraoxon, respectively. Moreover, A. australica MPH could effectively degrade various of OPs pesticides including methyl parathion, paraoxon, dichlorvos and chlorpyrifos in a few minutes, suggesting a great potential in the bioremediation of OPs pesticides.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to monitor the degradation of three insecticides licensed for the control of cabbage moths during the 14-day fermentation period of sauerkraut samples. The hypothesis of this study is that the different sauerkraut fermentation processes could affect the degradation of applied insecticides. For this purpose, the fresh cabbage leaves contaminated with (λ-cyhalothrin, malathion, and chlorpyrifos-methyl) were left for fermentation with and without (natural) starter addition (Lactobacillus plantarum 112), and vacuum-packed as a control under laboratory conditions. The pH values and microbial growth were periodically monitored in sauerkraut samples during the fermentation period. During this time, the insecticide residues were determined in control and treatment samples using LC-MS-MS. In control samples, the degradation of chlorpyrifos-methyl and malathion was higher with rates of 69 and 98%, respectively, compared with the sauerkraut samples (12 and 59%; 31 and 34%, respectively) 14 days after the insecticide application. At the end of fermentation (14 d), no significant reduction in λ-cyhalothrin was detected in both treatments and control (13-19% reduction). The current study demonstrated that the presence of the lactic acid bacteria in the sauerkraut fermentation accelerated pH decline (below 4.0), and these fermentation conditions probably decelerated the degradation of malathion and chlorpyrifos-methyl. The results showed that the stability of different insecticides varied during the same fermentation process.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the effects of different olive processing methods on deltamethrin (DEL), dimethoate (DIM), and imidacloprid (IMI), the most commonly preferred synthetic insecticides for controlling olive pests such as the olive fruit fly. The hypothesis is that the fermentation could accelerate the degradation process of the insecticides. For this purpose, olives were left for fermentation (natural black olives) without and with starter addition (two Lactobacillus plantarum strains 112 and 123) and processed as dehydrated black olives. To monitor the degradation rate of insecticides, olives were first polluted with the insecticides and then the residues were detected periodically during the processes. The insecticide degradation rates were found to be significantly higher in natural black olives and natural black olives inoculated with both starters compared with those of crude olives and dehydrated black olives. At the end of fermentation (after 60 d), 53-61% of deltamethrin, 66-68% of dimethoate, and 42-50% of imidacloprid were removed in natural black olives and natural black olives inoculated with both starters. In dehydrated olives, the degradation of deltamethrin, dimethoate, and imidacloprid was lower with rates of 9.7, 40, and 13.4%, respectively. The current study demonstrated that natural and starter-added natural black olive processing accelerated the degradation of deltamethrin, dimethoate, and imidacloprid.

Abstract
Ochrobactrum genus is known to catabolize aromatic compounds. This study reports a complete genome sequence of Ochrobactrum sp. CPD-03 (~ 4.6 Mb of chromosomal features) responsible for chlorpyrifos (CP) isolated form a paddy field (20.3588° N, 85.8333° E) in Bhubaneswar, India. A comparative genomics approach was performed between CPD-03 and eight closely related genomes of other Ochrobactrum strains in order to deepen our knowledge, to establish its phylogenetic and functional relationships. The involvement of CP degrading genes indicated a versatile role of CPD-03 in additional field trails. This research would provide the genetic information for its use in natural environment for the depletion of organophosphorus (OP) compounds.

Abstract
The residues of organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs) have been widely detected in rivers, the gulf, and even groundwater and drinking water, which may pose a serious threat to aquatic ecosystems and human health. Compared to other treatments, constructed wetlands (CWs) have been demonstrated to be a cost-effective alternative risk mitigation strategy for non-point-source pesticide pollution. This review summarizes 32 studies related to the remediation of OPPs in 117 CWs during 2001-2017 worldwide. The performances, mechanisms and influencing factors in the studies are comprehensively and critically reviewed in this paper. Overall, the OPPs were efficiently removed with an efficiency up to 87.22 ± 16.61%. The removal efficiency, differences and related reasons among different types of CWs in developed and developing countries and the different types of OPPs in CWs are well-evaluated in detail. In addition, the main processes for OPPs removal in CWs involve phytoremediation (plant uptake, phytoaccumulation, phytovolatilization and phytodegradation), substrate adsorption or sedimentation, and biodegradation. Based on the quantitative analysis by mass balance, for water-soluble pesticides, the dominant removal process was via microbiological degradation. This result was in contrast to findings obtained with hydrophobic OPPs, for which the dominant processes were biodegradation and sorption by substrate. Therefore, the behavior of microbial transformation prevails. Additionally, the presence of plants can facilitate the elimination of OPPs in CWs, promoting the process by an average percentage of approximately 6.19 ± 9.46%. Statistical analysis shows that loading of inlet OPPs is the largest limiting factor and that the HRT and T are the most significant parameters that influence the efficiency of trapping OPPs in CWs. Simultaneously, we can also obtain suitable parameters for the design and operation of CWs. This review promotes further research on plant-microbe joint combined remediation and examines the different behaviors of water-soluble and hydrophobic OPPs in CWs.

Abstract
Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) excreted from lactic acid bacteria (LAB) showed the ability to degrade organophosphorus pesticides. This study reported the first purification and characterization of ALP from LAB. The molecular weight of ALP was estimated to be 43 kDa measured by SDS-PAGE. The activity of purified enzyme was determined with the binding of p-nitrophenyl phosphate as the substrate. The results showed that the optimal temperature for ALP activity was 37 °C, and the optimal pH was 8.5. But ALP was stable at temperatures below 32 °C. The ALP activity remained at 80% when the pH was 8-9.5. The enzyme activity could be activated by Mg2+, Ca2+, and inhibited by Cu2+, Zn2+, and EDTA. The Michaelis-Menten constant was 6.05 mg kg-1 with dimethoate as the substrate according to the Lineweaver-Burk plots. These results highlight an important potential use of ALP from LAB for the cleanup of pesticide pollution in raw materials for the food industry.

Abstract
Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are representative members of multiple ecosystems on earth, displaying dynamic interactions within animal and plant kingdoms in respect with other microbes. This highly heterogeneous phylogenetic group has coevolved with plants, invertebrates, and vertebrates, establishing either mutualism, symbiosis, commensalism, or even parasitism-like behavior with their hosts. Depending on their location and environment conditions, LAB can be dominant or sometimes in minority within ecosystems. Whatever their origins and relative abundance in specific anatomic sites, LAB exhibit multifaceted ecological and functional properties. While some resident LAB permanently inhabit distinct animal mucosal cavities, others are provided by food and may transiently occupy the gastrointestinal tract. It is admitted that the overall gut microbiome has a deep impact on health and diseases. Here, we examined the presence and the physiological role of LAB in the healthy human and several animal microbiome. Moreover, we also highlighted some dysbiotic states and related consequences for health, considering both the resident and the so-called "transionts" microorganisms. Whether LAB-related health effects act collectively or follow a strain-specificity dogma is also addressed. Besides the highly suggested contribution of LAB to interplay with immune, metabolic, and even brain-axis regulation, the possible involvement of LAB in xenobiotic detoxification processes and metal equilibrium is also tackled. Recent technological developments such as functional metagenomics, metabolomics, high-content screening and design in vitro and in vivo experimental models now open new horizons for LAB as markers applied for disease diagnosis, susceptibility, and follow-up. Moreover, identification of general and more specific molecular mechanisms based on antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and detoxifying properties of LAB currently extends their selection and promising use, either as probiotics, in traditional and functional foods, for dedicated treatments and mostly for maintenance of normobiosis and homeostasis.

Abstract
This work performed a large scale assessment for organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs) degradation activity of 121 Lactobacillus (L.) plantarum strains. Six L. plantarum strains (P9, IMAU80110, IMAU40100, IMAU10585, IMAU10209, and IMAU80070) were found to possess high capacity of degrading three commonly used OPPs, namely dimethoate, phorate, and omethoate; and they were selected for more detailed characterization. Moreover, the three OPPs were mainly detected in the culture supernatants but not in the cell extracts, further confirming that the OPPs were degraded rather than absorbed by the cells. Among the six selected strains, P9 was most tolerant to gastrointestinal juices and bile. We thus used ultra-high performance liquid chromatography electron spray ionization coupled with time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC/ESI-Q-TOF/MS) to generate the metabolomic profiles of the strain P9 growing in MRS medium with and without containing phorate. By using orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis, we identified some potential phorate-derived degradative products. This work has identified novel lactic acid bacteria resources for application in pesticide degradation. Our results also shed light on the phorate degradation mechanism by L. plantarum P9.

Abstract
Millions of cases of pesticide intoxication occur yearly and represent a public health problem. In addition, pesticide poisoning is the preferred suicidal method in rural areas. The use of enzymes for the treatment of intoxication due to organophosphorus pesticides was proposed decades ago. Several enzymes are able to transform organophosphorus compounds such as pesticides and nerve agents. Some specific enzymatic treatments have been proposed, including direct enzyme injection, liposome and erythrocytes carriers, PEGylated preparations and extracorporeal enzymatic treatments. Nevertheless, no enzymatic treatments are currently available. In this work, the use of enzymes for treating of organophosphorus pesticide intoxication is critically reviewed and the remaining challenges are discussed.

Abstract
Chemical contaminants that are present in food pose a health problem and their levels are controlled by national and international food safety organizations. Despite increasing regulation, foods that exceed legal limits reach the market. In Europe, the number of notifications of chemical contamination due to pesticide residues, mycotoxins and metals is particularly high. Moreover, in many parts of the world, drinking water contains high levels of chemical contaminants owing to geogenic or anthropogenic causes. Elimination of chemical contaminants from water and especially from food is quite complex. Drastic treatments are usually required, which can modify the food matrix or involve changes in the forms of cultivation and production of the food products. These modifications often make these treatments unfeasible. In recent years, efforts have been made to develop strategies based on the use of components of natural origin to reduce the quantity of contaminants in foods and drinking water, and to reduce the quantity that reaches the bloodstream after ingestion, and thus, their toxicity. This review provides a summary of the existing literature on strategies based on the use of lactic acid bacteria or yeasts belonging to the genus Saccharomyces that are employed in food industry or for dietary purposes.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of four kinds of Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) on stereoselective degradation of theta-cypermethrin (CYP), including Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus delbrueckii, and Streptococcus thermophilus. An effective analytical method for (±)-theta-CYP in medium was developed by high-performance liquid chromatography with cellulose tris-(3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate) chiral stationary phase. theta-Cypermethrin was spiked to LAB medium with different inoculation rates and sampled at 0, 2, 8, 24, 36, 48, 72, 120, 168, and 240 hours. The results showed that LAB influenced the half-lives and enantiomer fractions of theta-CYP enantiomers, which lead a closer degradation rate between the 2 stereoisomers, and no obvious difference was found among 4 LABs. Besides, the stereoselective degradation of theta-CYP was closely related to pH. The lower the pH (pH of 3, 5, 7, and 9), the lower the enantiomer fraction (from 4.88 to 6.69). At pH of 3, 7, and 9, significant differences of half-lives between enantiomers were observed. (-)-theta-Cypermethrin decreased faster than (+)-theta-CYP under pH of 3, while opposite results were indicated under pH of 7 and 9. Moreover, the acidic condition contributed to the higher chiral configuration stability of (±)-theta-CYP. (+)-Enantiomer was influenced by pH in a greater degree than (-)-enantiomer.
