Abstract
INTRODUCTION Striae distensae (SD), linear scars of derma, caused by disproportionate skin stretching, which indicates a cosmetic problem and even endangers individuals' psychosocial health. Microneedling, representing a relatively new procedural therapy, has shown brightening but diverse results in the remedy of SD. Our study systematically investigates and further evaluates the efficacy of microneedling for SD. METHOD This study was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines. According to the preplanned search strategy, four electronic databases were comprehensively searched for eligible clinical controlled studies. Standardized mean difference (SMD) and odd ratio (OR) with 95% confidence intervals were calculated for continuous data and dichotomous data, respectively. RESULTS According to the predetermined criteria, eleven eligible articles of six RCTs and five non-RCTs were included. Concerning clinical improvement, a significant difference was observed in the microneedle radiofrequency treatment subgroup (SMD: 0.57, 95% CI 0.20-0.94, P = 0.003). The pooled result of the second subgroup revealed that microneedling and lasers producing almost comparable effectiveness for treating SD with no significant difference (P = 0.35). The analysis result of the third subgroup of microneedling versus non-laser therapy indicated significant difference at the 5% significance level (SMD:1.01, 95% CI 0.51-1.51, P < 0.0001). With regard to patient satisfaction, the pooled estimate concluded that participants' satisfaction with therapeutic effect between MRF and laser group was comparable (P = 0.26), whereas microneedling exhibited significant superiority than both laser (P = 0.04) and non-laser treatments (SMD: 0.95, 95% CI 0.52-1.38, P < 0.0001). Occurrence of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) was not obvious in microneedling therapy compared to other treatments, and a statistically difference was observed (P = 0.0003). Microneedling treatment caused significant pain compared with laser therapy (P < 0.00001). CONCLUSION This systematic review and meta-analysis has provided initial evidence of the efficacy and safety of microneedling technology for SD. Abstract
The article titled "A Two-Center, Prospective, Randomized Controlled Trial to Evaluate the Efficacy and Safety of and Satisfaction with Different Methods of ART FILLER® UNIVERSAL Injection for Correcting Moderate to Severe Nasolabial Folds in Chinese Individuals," authored by Feng et al. in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, aims to compare two hyaluronic acid (HA) injection techniques for enhancing nasolabial folds: the conventional injection method and the ligament injection method. However, concerns have arisen regarding the methodology employed in this study. Having a precise understanding of the properties of the active substance is crucial for treatment standardization. It is imperative to comprehensively grasp the key characteristics of the employed HAs to determine any potential correlation between these properties, outcomes, and the likelihood of complications. Understanding HA's rheological properties, including viscosity, elasticity, and cohesiveness, is essential for selecting the most appropriate facial filler. While recognizing the authors' contributions, we firmly believe that further analysis should encompass these factors.Level of Evidence V This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Abstract
Addressing facial palsy (FP) presents intricate challenges in achieving natural expressions. Although free functional muscle transfers (FFMT) offer effective smile restoration, age impacts their efficacy. The optimal FFMT age range of 5-55 years is limited by physical fitness, which extends beyond age boundaries. Unilateral FP demands vary; younger patients require dynamic solutions like FFMT, whereas older individuals prioritize public appearance due to baseline distortion. The aim of this study is to describe and to assess a new static technique combining deep plane facelift and fascia lata graft for FP treatment. We conducted a prospective pilot study enrolling unilateral FP patients aged >55 and declining FFMT. Exclusions encompassed prior FP surgery, recent injections, uncontrolled diabetes cognitive deficits, and patients unable to quit smoking. To evaluate this technique, the Glasgow Benefit Inventory (GBI), along with two objective scales, the Face- and Neck-Lift Objective Photo-Numerical Assessment Scale and the eFACE scale, were used. Interrater reliability and intrarater reliability were assessed. Fifteen patients (mean age: 60.9 years) underwent the procedure. Both static and dynamic symmetry significantly improved (p < 0.05), including check volume and position, oral commissure, and jawline. Notably, eye closure enhancement was observed. GBI scores also significantly increased (p < 0.05). Interrater reliability and intrarater reliability were minimal (p = 0.12 and p = 0.13). This combined approach offers a static FP treatment option, especially for the elderly or FFMT-ineligible patients. The relatively brief procedure yields immediate and satisfactory results, suggesting its potential value in FP management. Further comprehensive studies are encouraged to validate the technique's long-term efficacy and applicability across larger populations.

Abstract
We conducted a thorough examination of the paper titled " Rhinofiller: Fat Grafting (Surgical) Versus Hyaluronic Acid (Non-surgical)" authored by Gentile et al. in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery with significant interest. The author shared their practical insights gained from employing "fat grafting" and "hyaluronic acid" methods for nasal remodeling in a randomized controlled trial. The research is notably captivating and executed with commendable proficiency. However, we do hold specific reservations concerning the methodologies employed. Precise understanding of the properties of the active substances utilized is fundamental for any medical intervention, and standardization stands as a pivotal element. It is essential to grasp the core characteristics of the administered HAs to potentially uncover links between these attributes, resulting outcomes, and possible complications. In the context of tissue volumization using fillers, rheology-an investigation into material flow and deformation under stress-holds particular importance. Gaining a comprehensive understanding of HA's rheological properties is imperative, especially when selecting an appropriate dermal filler for nasal applications. Among the critical properties of HA are viscosity, elasticity, and cohesiveness. While acknowledging the valuable contributions made by the authors, it is imperative that further analysis takes into account these influential factors during the course of their investigation. Abstract
We reviewed the article titled "The Use of Hyaluronic Acid in Non-surgical Rhinoplasty: A Systematic Review of Complications, Clinical, and Patient-Reported Outcomes" authored by Mortada et al. in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery with considerable interest. This study presents a meticulous systematic review of research examining clinical and patient-reported results in hyaluronic acid (HA) non-surgical rhinoplasty. However, we hold specific reservations about the methodologies employed in the studies encompassed within their analysis. Precise comprehension of the properties of the utilized active substance is essential for any treatment, with standardization being a key factor. Understanding the essential characteristics of the administered HAs is pivotal to establish potential connections between these attributes, outcomes, and complications. Of particular importance in the clinical application of tissue volumization via fillers is rheology, the study of material flow and deformation under stress. Gaining insight into HA's rheological properties is imperative when selecting an appropriate dermal filler for nasal applications. Three pivotal HA properties are viscosity, elasticity, and cohesiveness. While appreciating the authors' contributions, further analysis should account for these factors in their investigation.Level of Evidence V This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Abstract
PRP contains growth factors that promote tissue repair. The authors conducted a meta-analysis comparing PRP treatment to a control group. However, there are concerns about the lack of standardized protocols and specific details about PRP preparation. Factors such as platelet counts, leukocyte concentration, and the use of activated or non-activated platelets can affect treatment outcomes. Further analysis is needed to establish more reliable conclusions about the effectiveness of PRP for androgenic alopecia. We have reviewed the article "Effectiveness and Role of Using Hyaluronic Acid Injections for Gluteal Augmentation: A Comprehensive Systematic Review of Techniques and Outcomes" by Mortada et al. in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery with keen interest. This study aims to comprehensively assess the effectiveness and role of hyaluronic acid (HA) in gluteal augmentation. However, we raise concerns about the methodologies employed in the reviewed studies. For effective treatments, understanding the properties of the active substance is essential for standardization. Thoroughly grasping the key characteristics of the employed HAs is vital to identify correlations between these properties, outcomes, and complication risks. Understanding HA's rheological properties, including viscosity, elasticity, and cohesiveness, is pivotal for selecting appropriate dermal fillers for the gluteal region. Another significant aspect of HA use is cohesiveness, arising from internal adhesion based on HA concentration and cross-linking. This cohesiveness resists vertical forces upon implantation, influencing tissue lifting and projection. Gel texture, influenced by Cross-Linking Degree, Particle Size, Molecular Weight, and HA Concentration, also plays a crucial role. While acknowledging authors' contributions, further analysis should consider these factors. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE V: This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. For a full description of these Evidence-Based Medicine ratings, please refer to the Table of Contents or the online Instructions to Authors www.springer.com/00266 .

Abstract
We reviewed the article "What About the Rheological Properties of PRP/Microfat Mixtures in Fat Grafting Procedure?" and found it highly intriguing. Fat grafting is widely used in plastic surgery, but the issue of inconsistent fat resorption poses a challenge. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has been incorporated to enhance fat revascularization, yet the ideal fat-to-PRP ratio remains undetermined. This study focused on analyzing the rheological properties of microfat combined with different proportions of PRP. The preparation protocol for PRP lacks standardization, and the absence of specific platelet and leukocyte information raises concerns. Further analysis is needed to establish reliable conclusions on PRP applications. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE V: This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Abstract
This study explores the psychological impact of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment for hair loss. PRP, an autologous plasma enriched with platelets, has gained recognition in aesthetic and regenerative medicine for its potential to facilitate tissue healing and regeneration through the release of growth factors. However, concerns arise regarding the lack of standardized protocols for PRP preparation and characterization, including platelet counts and active substance concentrations. Additionally, the concentration of leukocytes and the platelet-to-leukocyte ratio in PRP are crucial factors that can affect treatment outcomes. Further analysis is necessary to establish reliable conclusions about the applications of PRP. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE V: This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Abstract
The study "Strategies to Improve AFT Volume Retention after Fat Grafting" examines the impact of centrifugation duration and force on platelet-rich plasma (PRP) preparation. PRP, known for its potential in tissue healing and regeneration, lacks standardized protocols. The authors investigate the effects of centrifugation parameters on platelet concentrations and raise concerns about the lack of platelet count specification and characterization in previous studies. The concentration of leukocytes and the platelet-to-leukocyte ratio, as well as the use of non-activated platelets, are also discussed. Challenges in administering PRP gel and the morphological changes of activated platelets are noted. Further analysis is needed for reliable conclusions on PRP applications.Level of Evidence V This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Abstract
Facial palsy (FP) is a debilitating nerve pathology. Cross Face Nerve Grafting (CFNG) describes a surgical technique that uses nerve grafts to reanimate the paralyzed face. The sural nerve has been shown to be a reliable nerve graft with little donor side morbidity. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the microanatomy of the sural nerve. Biopsies were obtained from 15 FP patients who underwent CFNG using sural nerve grafts. Histological cross-sections were fixated, stained with PPD, and digitized. Histomorphometry and a validated software-based axon quantification were conducted. The median age of the operated patients was 37 years (5-62 years). There was a significant difference in axonal capacity decrease towards the periphery when comparing proximal vs. distal biopsies (p = 0.047), while the side of nerve harvest showed no significant differences in nerve caliber (proximal p = 0.253, distal p = 0.506) and axonal capacity for proximal and distal biopsies (proximal p = 0.414, distal p = 0.922). Age did not correlate with axonal capacity (proximal: R = -0.201, p = 0.603; distal: R = 0.317, p = 0.292). These novel insights into the microanatomy of the sural nerve may help refine CFNG techniques and individualize FP patient treatment plans, ultimately improving overall patient outcomes.
