Abstract
OBJECTIVES To explore the chain-mediating roles of negative emotions and caregiver readiness between self-efficacy and e-health literacy among caregivers of patients with lung cancer. BACKGROUND With the rise of Internet health services, caregivers of patients with lung cancer, who are one of the health decision makers, are encountering new challenges. In order to develop appropriate interventions, it is necessary to explore in depth the various influencing factors associated with them. DESIGN A cross-sectional survey. METHODS A total of 293 caregivers of patients with lung cancer were recruited between November 2023 and April 2024 through a convenience sampling method. These participants completed the demographic data questionnaire, General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES), Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), Caregivers Preparedness Scale (CPS), and eHealth Literacy Scale (eHEALS). Independent samples t-tests and a one-way ANOVA were employed to identify the primary influencing factors. Structural equation modelling was employed to detect the mediating effects of negative emotions and caregiver readiness. REPORTING METHOD The STROBE checklist was used for this study. RESULTS The total e-health literacy score of caregivers of patients with lung cancer was 29.65 ± 7.11, and there was a correlation between self-efficacy, negative emotions, caregiver readiness, and e-health literacy. The results of the path analysis showed that negative emotions and caregiver readiness had chain-mediating roles between self-efficacy and e-health literacy among caregivers of patients with lung cancer, with the total indirect effect accounting for 31.17% of the total effect. CONCLUSIONS Caregivers of patients with lung cancer exhibit moderate levels of e-health literacy. This research suggests that self-efficacy not only has a direct and positive influence on e-health literacy but may also amplify it by mediating the interplay between negative emotions and caregiver readiness. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE Healthcare providers should be cognizant of the negative emotions and readiness displayed by family caregivers in the hospital setting to aid them in cultivating strong health literacy for more efficient management of illness care tasks. PATIENT OR PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION Nurses at the hospitals assisted us in collecting data from family caregivers of patients with lung cancer, and the caregivers actively cooperated in completing the questionnaires.

Abstract
Introduction While eHealth became prevalent in healthcare during the pandemic, eHealth adoption by older adults has been slow. This digital divide could lead to worsening health and healthcare disparities. Guided by the push-pull-mooring perspective, this study explored factors influencing eHealth adoption among older adults. Methods Semi-structured virtual interviews were conducted in 2021 with 31 older adults with healthcare needs. Interviews were thematically coded and analyzed using constant comparative methods. Results We found the pandemic to be a powerful push factor that forced older adults to adopt eHealth along with several pull factors that attracted older adults to use eHealth. A number of mooring factors that made older adults hesitant to adopt eHealth were identified: limited knowledge or skills on eHealth, security concerns, limited technology access, and peer influence. Discussions Our findings indicate areas to increase productive use of eHealth within older populations, such as education or support within social networks.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Numerous mobile apps have been developed for patients with cancer. However, there is still no comprehensive app for patients with breast cancer that integrates evidence-based medical information, psychological support, and schedule management through a multidisciplinary medical approach. OBJECTIVE We aimed to investigate whether a mobile app designed to assist in the self-management of patients with breast cancer is feasible and positively affects their self-efficacy and other psychological aspects. METHODS The Cancer Manager (CAMA) app was developed to assist in the self-management of patients with breast cancer and survivors of cancer according to cancer trajectory. Its functionalities include providing evidence-based digitalized information created by experts, managing patients' medication and medical appointment schedules, and providing a delayed question and answer system for patients to query health care professionals. In this nonrandomized intervention trial, we analyzed data from 66 patients with breast cancer, divided into experimental (CAMA: n=34, 52%) and control (treatment as usual: n=32, 48%) groups. Group allocation was determined based on the patient's willingness to use the app and access to compatible smartphones. Outcome measures included the Korean version of the Cancer Survivor Self-Efficacy Scale, the Korean version of the Mini-Mental Adjustment to Cancer (K-Mini-MAC) Scale, the World Health Organization Quality of Life Brief Version, Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7), and Menopause Emotional Symptoms Questionnaire (MESQ). A user satisfaction survey was also conducted. RESULTS Throughout the intervention period, the CAMA group (vs treatment as usual group) demonstrated significant improvements in the seeking help and support subscale of the Korean version of the Cancer Survivor Self-Efficacy Scale (F1,64=5.09; P=.03), the psychological well-being subscale of the World Health Organization Quality of Life Brief Version (F1,64=5.48; P=.02), the anxious preoccupation subscale (F1,64=5.49; P=.02) and positive attitude subscale (F1,64=5.44; P=.02) of the K-Mini-MAC Scale, PHQ-9 (F1,64=4.83; P=.03), GAD-7 (F1,64=5.48; P=.02), and MESQ (F1,64=4.30; P=.04). Changes in the anxious preoccupation subscale of the K-Mini-MAC Scale scores were positively correlated with changes in the PHQ-9 (r=0.46; P=.007) and GAD-7 (r=0.41; P=.02) scores and negatively correlated with changes in the positive attitude subscale of the K-Mini-MAC Scale scores (r=-0.36; P=.04). Changes in the PHQ-9 scores were positively correlated with changes in the GAD-7 (r=0.66; P<.001) and MESQ (r=0.35; P=.04) scores. The user satisfaction survey offered insights into the CAMA app's positive impact; trust-building outcomes; and opportunities for enhancement, such as the inclusion of communication tools and continued content enrichment. CONCLUSIONS The mobile app for breast cancer self-management, CAMA, was deemed feasible and showed promise in improving the patients' self-efficacy regarding seeking help and support, positive attitude toward cancer, and psychological well-being. In addition, its use might help reduce anxious preoccupation with cancer, depressive mood, anxiety, and menopausal emotional symptoms. Abstract
BACKGROUND Digital interventions for supportive care during cancer treatment incorporating electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePROs) can enhance early detection of symptoms and facilitate timely symptom management. However, economic evaluations are needed. OBJECTIVE This study aims to conduct a cost-utility analysis of an app for ePRO and interactive support from the perspective of the payer (Region Stockholm Health Care Organization) and to explore its impact on patient health care utilization and costs. METHODS Two open-label randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were conducted, including patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer (B-RCT; N=149) and radiotherapy for prostate cancer (P-RCT; N=150), recruited from oncology clinics at 2 university hospitals in Stockholm, Sweden. EORTC QLQ-C30 scores were mapped to EQ-5D-3L to calculate quality-adjusted life years (QALYs). Intervention and implementation costs and health care costs, obtained from an administrative database, were used to calculate incremental cost-effectiveness ratios (ICERs) in 3 ways: including all health care costs (ICERa), excluding nonacute health care costs (ICERb), and excluding health care costs altogether (ICERc). Nonparametric bootstrapping was used to explore ICER uncertainty. Health care costs were analyzed by classifying them as disease-related or acute. RESULTS In both RCT intervention groups, fewer QALYs were lost compared with the control group (P<.001). In the B-RCT, the mean intervention cost was €92 (SD €2; €1=US $1.03). The mean cost for the intervention and all health care was €36,882 (SD €1032) in the intervention group and €35,427 (SD €959) in the control group (P<.001), with an ICERa of €202,368 (95% CI €152,008-€252,728). The mean cost for the intervention and acute health care was €3585 (SD €480) in the intervention group and €3235 (SD €494) in the control group (P<.001). ICERb was €49,903 (95% CI €37,049-€62,758) and ICERc was €13,213 (95% CI €11,145-€15,281); 22 out of 74 (30%) intervention group patients and 24 out of 75 (32%) of the control group patients required acute inpatient care for fever. In the P-RCT, the mean intervention cost was €43 (SD €0.2). The mean cost for the intervention and all health care was €3419 (SD €739) in the intervention group and €3537 (SD €689) in the control group (P<.001), with an ICERa of -€1,092,136 (95% CI -€3,274,774 to €1,090,502). The mean cost for the intervention and acute health care was €1219 (SD €593) in the intervention group and €802 (SD €281) in the control group (P<.001). ICERb was €745,987 (95% CI -€247,317 to €1,739,292) and ICERc was €13,118 (95% CI -68,468 to €94,704). As many as 10 out of the 75 (13%) intervention group patients had acute inpatient care, with the most common symptom being dyspnea, while 9 out of the 75 (12%) control group patients had acute inpatient care, with the most common symptom being urinary tract infection. CONCLUSIONS ePRO and interactive support via an app generated a small improvement in QALYs at a low intervention cost and may be cost-effective, depending on the costs considered. Considerable variability in patient health care costs introduced uncertainty around the estimates, preventing a robust determination of cost-effectiveness. Larger studies examining cost-effectiveness from a societal perspective are needed. The study provides valuable insights into acute health care utilization during cancer treatment. Abstract
BACKGROUND Mental health plays a key role across the cancer care continuum, from prognosis and active treatment to survivorship and palliative care. Digital health technologies offer an appealing, cost-effective tool to address psychological needs. OBJECTIVE This umbrella review aims to summarize and evaluate the available evidence on the efficacy of digital health interventions for improving mental health and psychosocial outcomes for populations with cancer. METHODS Literature searches were conducted in Embase, PsycINFO, PubMed, CINAHL, the Cochrane Library, and Web of Science from their inception to February 4, 2024. Systematic reviews (with or without meta-analysis) investigating the efficacy of digital health interventions for psychosocial variables in patients with cancer were included. Quality was assessed using the Assessing the Methodological Quality of Systematic Reviews-2 tool. RESULTS In total, 78 systematic reviews were included in this review. Among diverse delivery modalities and types of digital interventions, websites and smartphone apps were the most commonly used. Depression was the most frequently addressed, followed by quality of life, anxiety, fatigue, and distress. The qualities of the reviews ranged from critically low to high. Generally, despite great heterogeneity in the strength and credibility of the evidence, digital health interventions were shown to be effective for mental health in patients with cancer. CONCLUSIONS Taken together, digital health interventions show benefits for patients with cancer in improving mental health. Various gaps were identified, such as little research specifically focusing on older adult patients with cancer, a scarcity of reporting high-precision emotion management, and insufficient attention to other certain mood indicators. Abstract
BACKGROUND Breast cancer causes significant distress in patient-caregiver dyads. While psychosocial and/or mHealth-based interventions have shown efficacy in improving their psychosocial well-being, no reviews have synthesised the effectiveness of such interventions delivered specifically to the breast cancer patient-caregiver dyad. OBJECTIVE To synthesise available evidence examining the effectiveness of mHealth-based psychosocial interventions among breast cancer patient-caregiver dyads in improving their psychosocial well-being (primary outcomes: dyadic adjustment, depression and anxiety; secondary outcomes: stress, symptom distress, social well-being and relationship quality), compared to active or non-active controls. DESIGN A systematic review and meta-analysis. METHODS Randomised controlled trials and quasi-experimental studies were comprehensively searched from seven electronic databases (PubMed, CENTRAL, CINAHL, Embase, PsycINFO, Scopus, Web of Science), ongoing trial registries (ClinicalTrials.gov, WHO ICTRP) and grey literature (ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global) from inception of databases till 23 December 2022. Studies involving breast cancer patient-caregiver dyads participating in mHealth-based psychosocial interventions, compared to active or non-active controls, were included. Exclusion criteria were terminally ill patients and/or participants with psychiatric disorders or cognitive impairment and interventions collecting symptomatic data, promoting breast cancer screening or involving only physical activities. Screening, data extraction and quality appraisal of studies were conducted independently by two reviewers. Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool version 1 and JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist were used to appraise the randomised controlled trials and quasi-experimental studies, respectively. Meta-analyses using Review Manager 5.4.1 synthesised the effects of outcomes of interest. Sensitivity and subgroup analyses were conducted. The GRADE approach appraised the overall evidence quality. RESULTS Twelve trials involving 1204 breast cancer patient-caregiver dyads were included. Meta-analyses found statistically significant increase in caregiver anxiety (standardised mean difference (SMD) = 0.43, 95% confidence interval (CI) [0.09, 0.77], Z = 2.47, p = 0.01), involving 479 caregivers in 5 studies, and stress (SMD = 0.25, 95% CI [0.05, 0.45], Z = 2.44, p = 0.01), involving 387 caregivers in 4 studies post-intervention, favouring control groups. The intervention effects on the remaining outcomes were statistically insignificant. Beneficial effects of such interventions remain uncertain. The overall quality of evidence was very low for all primary outcomes. CONCLUSIONS Results of the effectiveness of mHealth-based psychosocial interventions on the psychosocial well-being of breast cancer patient-caregiver dyads are inconclusive. The high heterogeneity shown in the meta-analyses and very-low overall quality of evidence imply the need for cautious interpretation of findings. Higher-quality studies are needed to assess the effects of psychosocial interventions on dyadic outcomes and determine optimal intervention regimes.

Abstract
Self-efficacy is tightly intertwined with person-centered care and correlates with engaging in self-care behaviors, an important part of hypertension treatment. Evidence indicates that e-Health-based self-management interventions could increase self-efficacy. The objectives of this study were to investigate whether an intervention with a person-centered approach supported by e-Health technology can impact self-efficacy. Furthermore, to examine the impact of self-efficacy on hypertension management, and assess if self-efficacy can indicate which patients might see the greatest improvement on blood pressure from an e-Health-based self-management intervention for hypertension. This multicenter randomized controlled trial included 949 primary healthcare patients with hypertension. After exclusions, data was analyzed for 862 patients. The intervention group used an e-Health-based self-management system for 8 weeks. Self-efficacy was measured with the general self-efficacy (GSE) scale at inclusion, 8-week follow-up and 1-year follow-up. A significant increase in the mean GSE score in the intervention group was identified (p 0.042). No significant association between self-efficacy and blood pressure control was found. GSE scores did not significantly differ between the patients that had the best effect on blood pressure and those that had none. This study showed a significant increase in self-efficacy after the intervention. Self-management-based e-Health interventions might have a role in clinical practice to increase self-efficacy and improve general health. We found no association between self-efficacy and achieving a blood pressure below 140/90. Furthermore, no support was found to claim that self-efficacy would be an indicator of which patients might have the greatest effect from a self-management-based e-Health intervention for hypertension.

Abstract
Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) during and after tumor therapy influences all aspects of life and lowers performance and quality of life. Regular CRF screening and diagnostic evaluation are important factors in the care of patients. This article presents strategies for recognizing and treating CRF. Multiprofessional and personalized therapies can improve CRF. Outpatient and inpatient rehabilitative strategies should be implemented after completion of tumor therapy.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study describes the design, integration, and semantic interoperability process of a minimum data set using standardized nursing language in the caring module of the TEC-MED care platform. METHODS The caring module was developed in three phases (2020-2022): platform concept, functional design and construction, and testing and evaluation. Phases involved collaboration among academics, information technology developers, and social/healthcare professionals. Nursing taxonomies (NANDA-I, NOC, NIC) were integrated to support the nursing process. The platform was piloted in six Mediterranean countries. FINDINGS The final platform features an assessment module with eight dimensions for data collection on older adults and their caregivers. A clinical decision support system links assessment data with nursing diagnoses, outcomes, and interventions. The platform is available in six languages (English, Spanish, French, Italian, Greek, and Arabic). Usability testing identified the need for improved Arabic language support. CONCLUSIONS The TEC-MED platform is a pioneering tool using standardized nursing language to improve care for older adults in the Mediterranean. The platform's multilingualism promotes accessibility. Limitations include offline use and mobile app functionality. Pilot testing is underway to evaluate effectiveness and facilitate cross-cultural validation of nursing taxonomies. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING PRACTICE The TEC-MED platform offers standardized nursing care for older adults across the Mediterranean, promoting consistent communication and evidence-based practice. This approach has the potential to improve care quality and accessibility for a vulnerable population.

Abstract
AIMS This qualitative study explores the experiences of women after cancer treatment in terms of habit changes and mental health impact. METHOD The study involved 10 women who had undergone cancer treatment, recruited from three major hospitals in Hanoi, Vietnam. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, which were transcribed and analyzed using thematic analysis. RESULTS The findings of the study shed light on the various factors influencing lifestyle behavior and mental health changes among women after cancer treatment. Ten participants, aged 39 to 64 years, shared experiences including dietary changes, sleep disruptions, and reliance on non-scientific sources for health decisions. Initially shocked by their diagnosis, many transitioned to acceptance, adopting a "giving-in" attitude. Cultural beliefs, word-of-mouth sharing, and social support networks played significant roles in shaping post-treatment lifestyle changes, coping mechanisms, information-seeking behaviors, and mental health. CONCLUSION The study highlights the need for accessible and scientifically verified information for women after cancer treatment to make informed decisions about their health. It emphasizes the importance of addressing traditional beliefs and promoting evidence-based practices. Moreover, the study underscores the importance of social support and relationships in coping with the challenges of post-cancer experiences.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Aimed to determine the effect of education provided with a mobile application on the supportive care needs and quality of life of women undergoing breast-conserving surgery. METHODS The study was conducted in 81 patients. The experimental group received mobile application and the control group received standard education. Fisher's Exact Test, Chi-Square test, Student's t Test, Mann-Whitney U test, mixed design analysis of variance and Bonferroni-Dunn test were used to analyze the data. RESULTS While the pre-study supportive care needs scores of the women were similar in the experimental (85.37 ± 23.58) and control (83.13 ± 23.03) groups, they decreased significantly in the experimental group at the 4th and 8th-week measurements (54.34 ± 27.28; 58.78 ± 16.51) (p < .05). In the 4th and 8th week measurements, the quality of life of the experimental group (72.26 ± 14.12; 71.04 ± 8.12) increased significantly, while no significant change was found in the control group (42.50 ± 14.38; 45.63 ± 8.28). CONCLUSIONS It was found that the supportive care needs of the decreased and their quality of life increased after the education given to women with a mobile application. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING PRACTICE This study ensured that women who had a sufficiently intense and exhausting process during the cancer treatment process could comfortably receive care support and education with the mobile application at any time and place they wanted. It also revealed that nurses can provide care and education support to their patients at any time and place they want with the mobile application in their busy work tempo.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePROs) are commonly used in oncology clinical practice and have shown benefits for patients and health resource use. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to compare the isolated effect of administering ePROs to patients with cancer versus a control condition. METHODS The PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines were followed. Randomized controlled trials evaluating ePRO interventions that aimed to improve health-related outcomes among patients with cancer were included. The primary outcome was health-related quality of life (HRQOL), and the secondary outcomes were symptoms, hospital admissions, unplanned visits, chemotherapy completion, survival, and satisfaction with care. The effect sizes of ePROs on health-related outcomes were analyzed as standardized mean differences (SMDs) with 95% CIs using a random effects model. RESULTS The search identified 10,965 papers, of which 19 (0.17%) from 15 studies were included. The meta-analysis showed an improvement in HRQOL at 3 months, measured by the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy–General (SMD 0.29, 95% CI 0.19 to 0.39), and at 6 months, assessed using various HRQOL measures (SMD 0.21, 95% CI 0.11 to 0.30). Of the 15 studies, 9 (60%) reported a positive signal on HRQOL, with two-thirds of the studies (n=6, 67%) including tailored patient advice and two-thirds (n=6, 67%) using clinician alert systems. CONCLUSIONS The meta-analysis showed an improvement in HRQOL at 6 months and in Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy–General scores at 3 months for studies that included tailored advice and clinician alerts, suggesting that these elements may improve ePRO effectiveness. The findings will provide guidance for future use and help health care professionals choose the most suitable ePRO features for their patients. Abstract
BACKGROUND Using an iterative user-centered design process, our team developed a patient-centered adaptive supportive care system, PatientCareAnywhere, that provides comprehensive biopsychosocial screening and supportive cancer care to patients across the continuum of care adaptively. The overarching goal of PatientCareAnywhere is to improve health-related quality of life (HRQOL) and self-efficacy of patients with cancer by empowering them with self-management skills and bringing cancer care support directly to them at home. Such support is adaptive to the patient's needs and health status and coordinated across multiple sources in the forms of referrals, education, engagement of community resources, and secure social communication. OBJECTIVE This study aims to assess the usability of the new web-based PatientCareAnywhere system and examine the preliminary efficacy of PatientCareAnywhere to improve patient-reported outcomes compared with usual care. METHODS For phase 1, usability testing participants included patients with cancer (n=4) and caregivers (n=7) who evaluated the software prototype and provided qualitative (eg, interviews) and quantitative (eg, System Usability Scale) feedback. For phase 2, participants in the 3-month pilot randomized controlled trial were randomized to receive the PatientCareAnywhere intervention (n=36) or usual care control condition (n=36). HRQOL and cancer-relevant self-efficacy were assessed at baseline (preintervention assessment) and 12 weeks from baseline (postintervention assessment); mean differences between pre- and postintervention scores were compared between the 2 groups. RESULTS Participants were highly satisfied with the prototype and reported above-average acceptable usability, with a mean System Usability Scale score of 84.09 (SD 10.02). Qualitative data supported the overall usability and perceived usefulness of the intervention, with a few design features (eg, "help request" function) added based on participant feedback. With regard to the randomized controlled trial, patients in the intervention group reported significant improvements in HRQOL from pre- to postintervention scores (mean difference 6.08, SD 15.26) compared with the control group (mean difference -2.95, SD 10.63; P=.01). In contrast, there was no significant between-group difference in self-efficacy (P=.09). CONCLUSIONS Overall, PatientCareAnywhere represents a user-friendly, functional, and acceptable supportive care intervention with preliminary efficacy to improve HRQOL among patients diagnosed with cancer. Future studies are needed to further establish the efficacy of PatientCareAnywhere as well as explore strategies to enhance user engagement and investigate the optimal intensity, frequency, and use of the intervention to improve patient outcomes. Abstract
AIM To determine the effectiveness of brief reminiscence-based psychosocial interventions in alleviating psychological distress in cancer patients. BACKGROUND Cancer patients suffer tremendous psycho-spiritual pain, which affects their quality of life. Brief reminiscence-based psychosocial interventions have demonstrated positive effects on the mental health of cancer patients; however, the efficacy of these interventions has been inconsistent. DESIGN A systematic review and meta-analysis. METHODS This review was conducted and reported in accordance with the PRISMA 2020 checklist provided by the EQUATOR network. The Cochrane Library, Web of Science, PsycINFO, PubMed, Embase, CINAHL and Scopus databases were systematically searched from inception to 27 November 2022 to identify randomised controlled trials (RCTs) published in English. RESULTS Twenty studies involving 1744 cancer participants were included. The meta-analysis showed statistically significant effects of brief reminiscence-based psychosocial interventions on hope, anxiety and depression at post-intervention. A separate analysis revealed that brief reminiscence-based psychosocial interventions had a sustainable effect on hope, spiritual well-being, anxiety and depression at 1 month after the intervention. However, no statistically significant effect on quality of life was found in our study either immediately after the intervention or at 1 month. CONCLUSIONS Brief reminiscence-based psychosocial interventions can significantly reduce anxiety and depressive symptoms and improve hope and spiritual well-being in cancer patients. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE This study further supports that brief reminiscence-based psychosocial interventions should be incorporated into the routine care of cancer patients to address their psychosocial distress. Abstract
BACKGROUND Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the leading cause of death globally. In addition, 20% to 40% of the patients with CHD have comorbid mental health issues such as anxiety or depression, affecting the prognosis and quality of life (QoL). Mobile health (mHealth) interventions have been developed and are widely used; however, the evidence for the effects of mHealth interventions on QoL, anxiety, and depression in patients with CHD is currently ambiguous. OBJECTIVE In this study, we aimed to assess the effects of mHealth interventions on QoL, anxiety, and depression in patients with CHD. METHODS We searched the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Embase, CINAHL, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Wanfang databases from inception to August 12, 2023. Eligible studies were randomized controlled trials that involved patients with CHD who received mHealth interventions and that reported on QoL, anxiety, or depression outcomes. We used the Cochrane risk-of-bias tool for randomized trials to evaluate the risk of bias in the studies, ensuring a rigorous and methodologically sound analysis. Review Manager (desktop version 5.4; The Cochrane Collaboration) and Stata MP (version 17.0; StataCorp LLC) were used to conduct the meta-analysis. The effect size was calculated using the standardized mean difference (SMD) and its 95% CI. RESULTS The meta-analysis included 23 studies (5406 participants in total) and showed that mHealth interventions significantly improved QoL in patients with CHD (SMD 0.49, 95% CI 0.25-0.72; Z=4.07; P<.001) as well as relieved their anxiety (SMD -0.46, 95% CI -0.83 to -0.08; Z=2.38; P=.02) and depression (SMD -0.34, 95% CI -0.56 to -0.12; Z=3.00; P=.003) compared to usual care. The subgroup analyses indicated a significant effect favoring the mHealth intervention on reducing anxiety and depressive symptoms compared to usual care, especially when (1) the intervention duration was ≥6 months (P=.04 and P=.001), (2) the mHealth intervention was a simple one (only 1 mHealth intervention was used) (P=.01 and P<.001), (3) it was implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic (P=.04 and P=.01), (4) it was implemented in low- or middle-income countries (P=.01 and P=.02), (5) the intervention focused on mental health (P=.01 and P=.007), and (6) adherence rates were high (≥90%; P=.03 and P=.002). In addition, comparing mHealth interventions to usual care, there was an improvement in QoL when (1) the mHealth intervention was a simple one (P<.001), (2) it was implemented in low- or middle-income countries (P<.001), and (3) the intervention focused on mental health (P<.001). CONCLUSIONS On the basis of the existing evidence, mHealth interventions might be effective in improving QoL and reducing anxiety and depression in patients with CHD. However, large sample, high-quality, and rigorously designed randomized controlled trials are needed to provide further evidence. Abstract
INTRODUCTION Prostate cancer is the most common malignant disease within the male genitourinary system. Advances in cancer screening and treatment have significantly ameliorated the survival rates of patients with prostate cancer. Nonetheless, prostate cancer survivors report various degrees of cancer-related symptoms. These symptoms cause physiological and psychological suffering, leading to a deterioration of quality of life. Web-based interventions may facilitate the management of symptoms due to their flexibility, accessibility and convenience. However, the efficacy of web-based interventions in reducing symptom burden remains to be confirmed. Consequently, this systematic review and meta-analysis aims to comprehensively synthesise existing evidence, evaluate the effectiveness of web-based interventions in reducing symptom burden among patients and furnish a reference for clinical practice. METHODS AND ANALYSIS This protocol strictly adheres to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Protocol guidelines. We will comprehensively search six databases (PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane, Embase, CINAHL and PsycINFO) from their inception to March 2024 in order to identify clinical trials on the efficacy of web-based interventions for prostate cancer survivors. Two reviewers will independently conduct study selection, data extraction and quality assessment. The risk bias of included studies will be assessed using the Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool for randomised trials 2.0, and the strength of evidence will be assessed using Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) guideline. Meta-analysis will be performed using STATA V.16.0, and the effect size will be calculated using the standardised mean difference and its 95% CI. Heterogeneity will be assessed using Cochran's Q statics and inconsistency will be measured using the I2 statistics. Potential sources of bias will be evaluated. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION Ethics approval is not required for this review as no human participants will be involved. Abstract
PURPOSE Many cancer survivors, facing the consequences of their disease and its treatment, have medical and supportive aftercare needs. However, limited knowledge exists regarding the relationship between support needs and survivors' self-management skills. The study aim is to explore factors contributing to cancer survivors' self-management skills. METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted among cancer survivors (n = 277) of two outpatient oncology clinics at a university hospital in the Netherlands. Patients with head and neck cancer (n = 55) who had received radiotherapy and cisplatin or cetuximab were included, as well as patients who had undergone hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (n = 222). The primary outcome was self-management skills, assessed using the Partners in Health Scale (PIH), which comprises two subscales: knowledge and coping (PIH-KC), and recognition and management of symptoms, and adherence to treatment (PIH-MSA). Secondary outcomes were quality of life (EORTC QLQ-C30), self-efficacy (SECD6), patient-centered care (CAPHS), and social support (HEIQ). Machine learning-based Random Forest models were employed to construct associative models. Feature Importance (FI) was used to express the contribution to the model. RESULTS High emotional quality of life (FI = 33.1%), increased self-efficacy (FI = 22.2%), and greater social support (FI = 18.2%) were identified as key factors contributing to cancer survivors' self-management knowledge (PIH-KC). Furthermore, greater support from professionals (FI = 36.1%) and higher self-efficacy (FI = 18.2%) were found to benefit participants' recognition and management, and therapy adherence (PIH-MSA). CONCLUSIONS A patient-centered relationship between nurses and cancer survivors is essential for therapy adherence and the management of aftercare needs. Training to provide this holistic self-management support is required.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Using software for self-management interventions can improve health outcomes for individuals with low back pain, but there is a dearth of research to confirm its effectiveness. Additionally, no known research has evaluated the effective elements of software-based interventions for low back pain self-management components. This study aimed to synthesize the effectiveness of software-based interventions to promote self-management health outcomes among individuals with low back pain. DESIGN A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted. METHODS Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Statement, relevant studies up to July 2022 were searched via four electronic databases: PubMed, Embase, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, and Web of Science. RESULTS 4908 adults with low back pain who participated in 23 studies were included. Software-based interventions were effective in reducing fear avoidance (mean difference [MD] = -0.95, 95% CI: -1.45 to -0.44), pain catastrophizing (MD = -1.31, 95% CI: -1.84 to -0.78), disability (MD = -8.21, 95% CI: -13.02 to -3.39), and pain intensity (MD = -0.86, 95% CI: -1.17 to -0.55). Specifically, interventions that included an exercise component were more effective in reducing pain and disability. Additionally, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) intervention significantly reduced fear avoidance and pain catastrophizing but had no noticeable impact on disability and pain compared to standard treatment. The certainty of the evidence in this review varied from very low to high across outcomes. The heterogeneity of the study results was significant, suggesting that future studies in this area could optimize the design, time points, measures, and outcomes to strengthen the evidence. CONCLUSIONS Low back pain self-management interventions delivered through software-based programs effectively reduce pain intensity, disability, fear avoidance, and pain catastrophizing. CLINICAL RELEVANCE Low back pain is among the most common reasons for seeking healthcare visits. Combining exercise and counseling through soft-based programs may effectively address this issue and its associated suffering and disability.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Patients with heart failure (HF) and colorectal cancer (CRC) are prone to comorbidity, a high rate of readmission, and complex healthcare needs. Self-care for people with HF and CRC after hospitalisation can be challenging, and patients may leave the hospital unprepared to self-manage their disease at home. eHealth solutions may be a beneficial tool to engage patients in self-care. METHODS A randomised controlled trial with an embedded evaluation of intervention engagement and cost-effectiveness will be conducted to investigate the effect of eHealth intervention after hospital discharge on the self-efficacy of self-care. Eligible patients with HF or CRC will be recruited before discharge from two Norwegian university hospitals. The intervention group will use a nurse-assisted intervention-eHealth@Hospital-2-Home-for six weeks. The intervention includes remote monitoring of vital signs; patients' self-reports of symptoms, health and well-being; secure messaging between patients and hospital-based nurse navigators; and access to specific HF and CRC health-related information. The control group will receive routine care. Data collection will take place before the intervention (baseline), at the end of the intervention (Post-1), and at six months (Post-2). The primary outcome will be self-efficacy in self-care. The secondary outcomes will include measures of burden of treatment, health-related quality of life and 30- and 90-day readmissions. Sub-study analyses are planned in the HF patient population with primary outcomes of self-care behaviour and secondary outcomes of medication adherence, and readmission at 30 days, 90 days and 6 months. Patients' and nurse navigators' engagement and experiences with the eHealth intervention and cost-effectiveness will be investigated. Data will be analysed according to intention-to-treat principles. Qualitative data will be analysed using thematic analysis. DISCUSSION This protocol will examine the effects of the eHealth@ Hospital-2-Home intervention on self-care in two prevalent patient groups, HF and CRC. It will allow the exploration of a generic framework for an eHealth intervention after hospital discharge, which could be adapted to other patient groups, upscaled, and implemented into clinical practice. Abstract
BACKGROUND Urinary incontinence is a common complication among patients with prostate cancer who have undergone radical prostatectomy. Guided by social cognitive theory and a framework for the recovery of health and well-being, we propose to develop and test a self-management intervention for patients with prostate cancer who experience urinary incontinence after undergoing radical prostatectomy. METHODS In this study, a self-management intervention for urinary incontinence (SMI-UI) is developed, comprising a mobile self-management application, a self-management handbook, and professional support. The feasibility, acceptability, and effectiveness of this intervention will be assessed. Patient data from the urology departments of two hospitals will be collected through convenience sampling by adopting an experimental, parallel, and random assignment research design. Patients experiencing urinary incontinence after undergoing radical prostatectomy will be invited to participate. After completing the pretest questionnaire, patients will be randomly divided into the experimental and attention control groups. The experimental group will undergo a 12-week SMI-UI, whereas the attention control group will receive an intervention consisting of a single dietetic education information package. The two groups will be tested 12 and 16 weeks after the pretest. In this study, we recorded the sociodemographic and clinical variables; recruitment rate; retention rate; satisfaction with the intervention; cancer-related self-efficacy; urination symptoms and disturbance; social participation and satisfaction; resilience; and demoralization. Our study aimed to determine the impact of palliative care on mitigating pain and its associated effects in determining the quality of life (QoL) among colon cancer outpatients. Six collection databases were used to perform a structured systematic review of the available literature, considering all papers published between the year 2000 and February 2023. PRISMA guidelines were adopted in our study, and a total of 9792 papers were evaluated. However, only 126 articles met the inclusion criteria. A precise diagnosis of disruptive colorectal cancer (CRC) pain disorders among patients under palliative care is necessary to mitigate it and its associated effects, enhance health, promote life expectancy, increase therapeutic responsiveness, and decrease comorbidity complications. Physical activities, the use of validated pain assessment tools, remote outpatient education and monitoring, chemotherapeutic pain reduction strategies, music and massage therapies, and bridging social isolation gaps are essential in enhancing QoL. We recommend and place a strong emphasis on the adoption of online training/or coaching programs and the integration of formal and informal palliative care systems for maximum QoL benefits among CRC outpatients.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Nearly 30 000 Mexican women develop breast cancer annually, frequently presenting unmet supportive care needs. In high-income countries, incorporating electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePROs) into cancer care has demonstrated potential for increasing patient-centred care and reducing unmet needs. No such ePRO interventions have been implemented in Mexico. This paper presents the study protocol for designing and evaluating an ePRO digital health application combined with proactive follow-up by nurses. METHODS AND ANALYSIS We designed a two-component intervention for women receiving breast cancer treatment: a responsive web application for monitoring ePROs and clinical algorithms guiding proactive follow-up by nurses. We will conduct a pilot test of the intervention with 50 patients with breast cancer for 6 weeks to assess feasibility and adjust the application. We will conduct a parallel arm randomised controlled trial assigning 205 patients each to intervention and control in one of Mexico's largest public oncology hospitals. The intervention will be provided for 6 months, with additional 3 months of post-intervention observation. The control group will receive usual healthcare and a list of breast cancer information sources. Women diagnosed with stages I, II or III breast cancer who initiate chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy will be invited to participate. The primary study outcome will be supportive care needs; secondary outcomes include global quality of life and breast symptoms. Information on the outcomes will be obtained through web-based self-administered questionnaires collected at baseline, 1, 3, 6 and 9 months. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION The National Research and Ethics Committees of the Mexican Institute of Social Security approved the study (R-2021-785-059). Participants will sign an informed consent form prior to their inclusion. Findings will be disseminated through a policy brief to the local authorities, a webinar for patients, publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national and international conferences. Abstract
PURPOSE Digital self-management (SM) interventions targeting symptom relief have demonstrated positive as well as null outcomes, whereas no study has synthesized the effect of the interventions. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of digital SM symptom interventions on symptom outcomes in adult cancer patients. METHODS A systematic review and meta-analysis based on the previous scoping review was conducted. Six databases (PubMed, CINAHL, Embase, the Cochrane Library, RISS [Korean], and KoreaMed [Korean]) were searched. Population was adult cancer patients. Intervention was SM interventions applying digital health tool targeting symptom management. Comparison was usual care, waitlist controls or active controls. The primary outcome was symptom burden, and the secondary outcomes were individual symptoms. RESULTS Our meta-analysis of 32 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) including 7888 patients demonstrated that digital SM symptom interventions had a significant effect on reducing symptom burden (effect size [ES] = -0.230) and relieving pain (ES = -0.292), fatigue (ES = -0.417), anxiety (ES = -0.320), and depression (ES = -0.261). CONCLUSIONS Digital SM interventions can improve symptom outcomes in adult cancer patients. Oncology nurses should be aware that digital SM interventions have demonstrated promising outcomes in cancer patient care.

Abstract
Aims Cardiovascular diseases are one of the main contributors to disability and mortality worldwide. Meanwhile, risk factors can be modified by lifestyle changes. mHealth is an innovative and effective way to deliver cardiac health promotion. This study aims to examine the needs and demands regarding the design and contents of an mHealth intervention for cardiac health promotion among individuals with cardiac diseases. Different clusters were determined and analysed in terms of the intention to use an mHealth intervention. Methods and results A cross-sectional study was conducted via a web-based survey. Three hundred and four individuals with coronary artery diseases (CADs) and/or congestive heart failure (CHF) were included in the data analysis. Descriptive statistics were applied to evaluate needs and demands regarding an mHealth intervention. A k-medoids cluster analysis was performed. Individuals with CAD and CHF favoured an mHealth intervention that supports its users permanently and is easily integrated into everyday life. Handheld devices and content formats that involve active user participation and regular updates were preferred. Three clusters were observed and labelled high, moderate, and low burden, according to their psychometric properties. The high burden cluster indicated higher behavioural intention towards use of an mHealth intervention than the other clusters. Conclusion The results of the study are a valuable foundation for the development of an mHealth intervention for cardiac health promotion following a user-centred design approach. Individuals with cardiac diseases report positive attitudes in the form of high usage intention regarding mHealth. Highly burdened individuals report a high intention to use such interventions.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To provide an overview of types and characteristics of self-management support (SMS) interventions in adults with chronic disease and to assess the impact on the patient reported outcome Quality of Life (QoL). METHODS An umbrella review of systematic reviews was conducted. We searched PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, CINAHL and the Cochrane Library from January 2016 to November 2020 for reviews on SMS interventions for chronic diseases, assessing the impact on the patient reported outcome QoL. Quality assessment was based on the JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist for Systematic reviews and Research Syntheses tool. RESULTS 28 reviews were included. The extensive literature review revealed a variety of SMS interventions. The most frequently cited target group for the interventions were individuals with diabetes. Interventions primarily took place in the home setting. Interventional components that were often incorporated were education, eHealth and mHealth technologies, and coaching techniques. Telephone communication was regularly reported as a type of intervention follow-up. The impact on QoL was mixed and no firm conclusions can be drawn. However, our review revealed a beneficial effect of education. CONCLUSIONS AND PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS Interventions including educational components seem promising for supporting self-management and showed a beneficial effect on QoL. More research is needed to explore where, by whom and how interventions are ideally delivered.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION A growing number of patients with non-communicable diseases (NCDs), such as heart failure (HF) and colorectal cancer (CRC), are prone to comorbidity, a high rate of readmissions and complex healthcare needs. An eHealth intervention, however, could potentially ameliorate the increasing burdens associated with NCDs by helping to smoothen patient transition from hospital to home and by reducing the number of readmissions. This feasibility study therefore aims to assess the feasibility of a nurse-assisted eHealth intervention posthospital discharge among patients with HF and CRC, while also examining the preliminary clinical and behavioural outcomes of the intervention before initiating a full-scale randomised controlled trial. The recruitment ended in January 2023. METHODS AND ANALYSIS Twenty adult patients with HF and 10 adult patients with CRC will be recruited from two university hospitals in Norway. Six hospital-based nurse navigators (NNs) will offer support during the transition phase from hospital to home by using a solution for digital remote care, Dignio Connected Care. The patients will use the MyDignio application uploaded to an iPad for 30 days postdischarge. The interactions between patients and NNs will then be assessed through direct observation and qualitative interviews in line with a think-aloud protocol. Following the intervention, semistructured interviews will be used to explore patients' experiences of eHealth support and NNs' experiences of eHealth delivery. The feasibility testing will also comprise a post-test of the Post-System Usability Questionnaire and pretesting of patient-reported outcomes questionnaires, as well as an inspection of user data collected from the software. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION The study has been approved by the Norwegian Centre for Research Data (ID.NO: 523386). All participation is based on informed, written consent. The results of the study will be published in open-access, peer-reviewed journals and presented at international and national scientific conferences and meetings.

Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic necessitated remote cancer care delivery via the internet and telephone, rapidly accelerating an already growing care delivery model and associated research. This scoping review of reviews characterised the peer-reviewed literature reviews on digital health and telehealth interventions in cancer published from database inception up to May 1, 2022, from PubMed, Cumulated Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, PsycINFO, Cochrane Reviews, and Web of Science. Eligible reviews conducted a systematic literature search. Data were extracted in duplicate via a pre-defined online survey. Following screening, 134 reviews met the eligibility criteria. 77 of those reviews were published since 2020. 128 reviews summarised interventions intended for patients, 18 addressed family caregivers, and five addressed health-care providers. 56 reviews did not target a specific phase of the cancer continuum, whereas 48 reviews tended to address the active treatment phase. 29 reviews included a meta-analysis, with results showing positive effects on quality of life, psychological outcomes, and screening behaviours. 83 reviews did not report intervention implementation outcomes but when reported, 36 reported acceptability, 32 feasibility, and 29 fidelity outcomes. Several notable gaps were identified in these literature reviews on digital health and telehealth in cancer care. No reviews specifically addressed older adults, bereavement, or sustainability of interventions and only two reviews focused on comparing telehealth to in-person interventions. Addressing these gaps with rigorous systematic reviews might help guide continued innovation in remote cancer care, particularly for older adults and bereaved families, and integrate and sustain these interventions within oncology.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Literature encloses numerous systematic reviews (SRs) on nonpharmacologic interventions for improving cancer-related fatigue (CRF). The effect of these interventions remains controversial, and the available SRs have not been synthesized yet. We conducted a systematic synthesis of SRs and meta-analysis to determine the effect of nonpharmacologic interventions on CRF in adults. MATERIAL AND METHODS We systematically searched 4 databases. The effect sizes (standard mean difference) were quantitatively pooled using a random-effects model. Chi-squared (Q) and I-square statistics (I²) tested the heterogeneity. RESULTS We selected 28 SRs, including 35 eligible meta-analyses. The pooled effect size (standard mean difference, 95% CI) was -0.67 (-1.16, -0.18). The subgroup analysis by types of interventions showed a significant effect in all the investigated approaches (complementary integrative medicine, physical exercise, self-management/e-health interventions). CONCLUSIONS There is evidence that nonpharmacologic interventions are associated with CRF reduction. Future research should focus on testing these interventions on specific population clusters and trajectories. PROSPERO REGISTRATION CRD42020194258.

Abstract
Cancer-related fatigue is one of the most common symptoms of cancer and one of those referred by patients as the most disabling. However, we still do not have enough evidence to allow us to recommend effective and personalized approaches. GOAL To provide evidence on the efficacy of ASCO-recommended psychosocial interventions for reducing cancer-related fatigue. METHODOLOGY A general quantitative systematic review for nonprimary clinical interventions that allows the collection, synthesis and analysis of already published reviews. Systematic reviews of RTCs were selected as these make up the body of knowledge that provides the most evidence in an umbrella format. The results do not provide clear or comparable evidence regarding the different interventions, with moderate evidence standing out for cognitive interventions and mindfulness. CONCLUSIONS Research gaps, study biases and the need for further research to ask more precise questions and to make reliable recommendations to mitigate the impact of cancer-related fatigue are evident.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cancer patients often suffer from psychological symptoms and need psychological support. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, eHealth interventions might be helpful to overcome the obstacles of the pandemic. This study evaluates the effectiveness of a video sequence-based eHealth intervention on anxiety, fatigue, and depression in cancer patients. METHODS Patients (N = 157) with different tumor entities were randomly assigned to the video intervention group (IG) and the waiting control group (CG). Patients in the IG received a video intervention comprising 8 video sequences over 4 weeks. The videos included psychoeducation on distress and psychological symptoms, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy elements, and Yoga and Qigong exercises. Patients' anxiety and fear of progression (primary outcomes) and secondary outcomes were assessed before randomization (T1) and after the end of the intervention for IG or the waiting period for CG (T2) using self-reported questionnaires (GAD-7, PA-F-KF, EORTC QLQ-FA12, PHQ-8). RESULTS Patients of the IG showed no significant improvement in anxiety (GAD-7; P = .75), fear of progression (FoP-Q-SF; P = .29), fatigue (EORTC QLQ-FA12; P = .72), and depression (PHQ-8; P = .95) compared to patients in the waiting CG. However, symptoms of anxiety, fatigue, and depression decreased in both groups. Exploratory subgroup analysis regarding sex, therapy status, therapy goal, and tumor entity showed no effects. Overall, the intervention had a high level of acceptance. CONCLUSIONS The video intervention was ineffective in reducing the psychological burden compared to a waiting CG. The findings support prior observations of the value of therapeutic guidance and promoting self-management for improving patients' psychological burdens. Further studies are required to evaluate the effectiveness of psycho-oncological eHealth delivered through video sequences.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the efficacy of self-management interventions on quality of life and/or self-efficacy in patients diagnosed with prostate cancer through a systematic review with meta-analysis. METHODS A search was conducted from database inception to March 2022 across three databases. Randomized controlled trials were included. Two reviewers performed independent data extraction and methodologic quality assessment of the studies. RESULTS A total of fifteen studies were included in the study. Self-management interventions were identified by the Practical Reviews in Self-Management Support. The meta-analysis showed that self-management interventions have a significant effect on self-efficacy CONCLUSION: Self-management programs could have positive effects on quality of life and improve self-efficacy in prostate cancer patients. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS Self-management components may be heterogeneous but show positive results in improving self-efficacy in prostate cancer survivors. Including self-management components in the rehabilitation of prostate survivors can improve their quality of life.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Patients with the thalassemia have a basic requirement for self-efficacy regarding their treatment procedure. The present study aimed to compare the effect of self-care education via a smartphone application and lectures on the self-efficacy of patients with thalassemia. METHODS In the present quasi-experimental study, 99 patients with thalassemia at Shahid Beheshti Hospital in Yasuj, Iran, in 2019 who were eligible to enter the study, were selected. The block randomization was done with the block sizes of 3, 6, and 9, and participants were randomly assigned to 3 groups: smartphone application (A), lecture intervention (B), and control (c). Smartphone application and lecture interventions were performed for intervention groups A and B, respectively, during 8 weeks. Scherer's self-efficacy measure was used to collect the data at baseline and eight weeks after the intervention. Data were analyzed by SPSS-version 25 software using Paired t-test, Wilcoxon and Kruskal-Wallis tests. RESULTS Ninety-nine patients with thalassemia with a mean (SD) age of 25 (6) and 58 females (58.59%) participated in the present study. The results indicated a significant difference in self-efficacy among 3 groups after intervention (P = 0.001). However, self-care education with smartphone application revealed a significant increase in the mean (SD) of self-efficacy of the patients with thalassemia 68.36(8.45) compared to the lecture method 62.55 (7.3) (P = 0.003) and control 62.09 (6.7) (P = 0.001). There were no significant differences among the self-efficacy scores of the patients in lecture intervention and control groups. CONCLUSIONS The results revealed that smartphone application was a suitable educational software to promote self-efficacy in patients with thalassemia. It is recommended to use smartphone application methods to improve the self-efficacy levels of patients with thalassemia.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Previous studies have suggested the benefit of routine screening for biopsychosocial symptoms among patients with cancer. In recognition of the lack of data from low- and middle-income countries, this study sought to test and determine the effect of a mHealth program to screen biopsychological symptoms among patients with advanced breast or gynecological cancer. METHODS This was a quasi-experimental pre-post study conducted in a public hospital located in central western Brazil. Patients diagnosed with advanced breast of gynecological cancer who were about to initiate chemotherapy treatment at this institution and had access to Internet by smartphone, computer or tablet were invited to participate. Patients received training on using the app Comfort, a program developed to rate their physical and emotional symptoms during the 6-month of the proposed study. Patients were also asked to complete the EuroQOL 5D (EQ-5D-3L) every month. Mann-Whitney U test was used to determine differences among groups of patients (engaged and non-engaged). RM-ANOVA was used to determine the effect of time on mean visual analog scale (VAS) score. RESULTS A total of 125 patients were recruited (median age = 46.6 years old, 41.6% married). Mostly, patients possessed lower levels of education and had relatively low monthly incomes. Notably, 67.2% of patients engaged with the Comfort program, and few patients (4%) withdrew due to lack of engagement with the program or issues with internet connection. In general, patients who engaged with the program reported improvement in physical and emotional symptoms (p < 0.01), as well as in their overall quality of life (VAS; p = 0.009), compared with patients who did not engage with the program. CONCLUSIONS This is the first mHealth program developed in Brazil for patients in a low resource setting. Our findings suggest that Comfort could be an effective resource to assist patients and health care providers track symptoms and improve patients' quality of life.

Abstract
Objective This article aims to explore care patterns and understand the impact of telehealth on nursing care in the radiation oncology setting at a comprehensive cancer center during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods Focus group interviews of radiation oncology nurses (n = 18) were used to obtain data and describe current patient care patterns during the study period. Interviews were conducted over Zoom video conference, and content was analyzed. Results Three major themes were determined: (1) the evolution of nurses' roles during the transition to telehealth, (2) the resilience of the human element, and (3) the benefits and constraints of the institution's infrastructure. Conclusions Study results support radiation oncology nurses' ability to provide quality patient care using telehealth and can guide the expansion future care models for radiation oncology patients. Research exploring telehealth care outcomes among radiation patients is warranted. Radiation oncology nurses' training and scope of practice must be expanded to include telehealth care. As telehealth care models continue to develop, there will be a need to address training and technical disparities among certain patient demographics.

Abstract
Background The aim of the trial is to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions provided by online support program apps, adopting health-related quality of life (HR-QOL) scores as indicators. Methods The design is as an open, randomized, parallel-group trial with longitudinal data collection. The subjects will be female cancer patients receiving treatment in a Japanese National Cancer Hospital. Patients assigned to the experimental group will use three apps: an app for them to monitor their own health (monitoring app), an app to assess their understanding of their diagnosis and treatment and their readiness to receive treatment (confirmation app), and an app to address mental health issues (writing app); patients assigned to the control group will use only the monitoring app. At baseline (before patients undergo cancer treatment) and three other times during the study, evaluation indicators will be obtained from three different standardized HR-QOL scales that are incorporated in the monitoring app. The study hypothesis is that at 6 months after patients’ baseline health monitoring, patients in the experimental group will have improved HR-QOL as compared with patients in the control group. Conclusion This study is based on self-regulation theory, so it is important that the online support program works in an efficient way with respect to patients finding and setting their own health-related goals and adapting their behaviors to achieve those goals. Verifying the effectiveness of the combination of the three apps will show that it is a scientifically valid approach to maintaining or improving the HR-QOL of cancer patients.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is one of the most reported long-term effects breast cancer patients experience after diagnosis. Many interventions for CRF are effective, however, not for every individual. Therefore, intervention advice should be adjusted to patients' preferences and characteristics. Our aim was to develop an overview of eHealth interventions and their (preference sensitive) attributes. METHODS eHealth interventions were identified using a scoping review approach. Eligible studies included breast cancer patients and assessed CRF as outcome. Interventions were categorised as physical activity, mind-body, psychological, 'other' or 'combination'. Information was extracted on various (preference sensitive) attributes, like duration, intensity, peer support and costs. RESULTS Thirty-five interventions were included and divided over the intervention categories. (Preference sensitive) attributes varied both within and between these categories. Duration varied from 4 weeks to 6 months, intensity from daily to own pace. Peer support was present in seven interventions and costs were known for six. CONCLUSION eHealth interventions exist in various categories, additionally, there is much variation in (preference sensitive) attributes. This provides opportunities to implement our overview for personalised treatment recommendations for breast cancer patients struggling with CRF. Taking into account patients' preferences and characteristics suits the complexity of CRF and heterogeneity of patients.

Abstract
Purpose The objective of this paper is to design a protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis on the effectiveness of self-management interventions in patients with chronic heart failure. Methods The protocol is developed following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The protocol has been registered in PROSPERO (CRD42021246973). Base on the population, intervention, comparator, and outcome (PICO) framework, our research questions are: 1) What are the effects of eHealth self-management interventions on patients with chronic heart failure? 2) What factors of interventions might affect outcomes? The process includes: 1) search strategy and inclusion criteria; 2) data extraction; 3) risk of bias assessment and 4) data analysis. Searching process and data extraction will be guided by Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions. We will use Cochrane Risk of Bias tool to assess the risk of bias. The data analysis will be performed using Metafor package in R. Conclusions This systemic review will synthesize the current evidence and identify gaps. Findings in the meta-analysis will provide guidance for designing a more effective self-management intervention for patients with chronic heart failure in future.

Abstract
BACKGROUND eHealth is increasingly becoming an indispensable part of health practice and policy-making strategies. However, the use of eHealth tools in clinical practice and the perceptions of eHealth among medical students and health care professionals in Vietnam are not well understood. OBJECTIVE This study aims to investigate perceptions and practices regarding eHealth and their associated factors among medical students and health care professionals. METHODS A web-based cross-sectional study was conducted on 523 medical students and health care professionals. Information about the practices for, perceived barriers to, and benefits of eHealth application in clinical practices was collected. Multivariate Tobit and logistic regression models were used to determine factors associated with perceptions and practices. RESULTS In total, 61.6% (322/523) of participants used eHealth tools in clinical practices, with moderate levels of eHealth literacy. The score for the perceived benefits of eHealth tools was low. The most common barrier for eHealth utilization was human resources for IT (240/523, 45.9%), followed by security and risk control capacity (226/523, 43.2%) and no training in eHealth application (223/523, 42.6%). Age, eHealth literacy, and the use of the internet for updating medical knowledge were positively associated with using eHealth tools in clinical practices. CONCLUSIONS eHealth tools were moderately used in clinical practices, and the benefits of eHealth were underestimated among health care professionals and medical students in Vietnam. Renovating the current medical education curriculum to integrate eHealth principles should be required to equip health care professionals and medical students with essential skills for rapid digital transformation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Patients undergoing heart surgery may experience a range of physiological changes, and the postoperative recovery time is long. Patients and their families often have concerns about quality of life (QoL) after discharge. eHealth interventions may improve patient participation, ensure positive and effective health management, improve the quality of at-home care and the patient's quality of life, and reduce rates of depression. OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of eHealth interventions on the physiology, psychology, and compliance of adult patients after cardiac surgery to provide a theoretical basis for clinical practice. METHODS We conducted systematic searches of the following 4 electronic databases: PubMed, Embase, CINAHL, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials. Mean (SD) values were used to calculate the pooled effect sizes for all consecutive data, including QoL, anxiety, and depression. Where the same results were obtained using different instruments, we chose the standardized mean difference with a 95% CI to represent the combined effect size; otherwise, the mean difference (MD) with a 95% CI was used. Odds ratios were used to calculate the combined effect size for all dichotomous data. The Cohen Q test for chi-square distribution and an inconsistency index (I2) were used to test for heterogeneity among the studies. We chose a fixed-effects model to estimate the effect size if there was no significant heterogeneity in the data (I2≤50%); otherwise, a random-effects model was used. The quality of the included studies was assessed using the Cochrane risk-of-bias tool for randomized trials (RoB 2). RESULTS The search identified 3632 papers, of which 19 met the inclusion criteria. In terms of physical outcomes, the score of the control group was lower than that of the intervention group (MD 0.15, 95% CI 0.03-0.27, I2=0%, P=.02). There was no significant difference in the mental outcomes between the intervention and control groups (MD 0.10, 95% CI -0.03 to 0.24, I2=46.4%, P=.14). The control group's score was lower than that of the intervention group for the depression outcomes (MD -0.53, 95% CI -0.89 to -0.17, I2=57.1%, P=.004). Compliance outcomes improved in most intervention groups. The results of the sensitivity analysis were robust. Nearly half of the included studies (9/19, 47%) had a moderate to high risk of bias. The quality of the evidence was medium to low. CONCLUSIONS eHealth improved the physical component of quality of life and depression after cardiac surgery; however, there was no statistical difference in the mental component of quality of life. The effectiveness of eHealth on patient compliance has been debated. Further high-quality studies on digital health are required. Abstract
PURPOSE Ongoing supportive care using electronic health (eHealth) interventions has the potential to provide remote support and improve health outcomes for patients with breast cancer. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of eHealth interventions on patient-reported outcomes (quality of life [QOL], self-efficacy, and mental or physical health) for patients during and after breast cancer treatment and patient-reported experience measures (acceptability and engagement). METHODS Systematic review with meta-analyses (random-effects model) of randomized controlled trials was conducted following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis guidelines. Nine databases were searched using a prespecified search strategy. Patient-directed eHealth interventions for adult patients during or after active breast cancer treatment measuring QOL, self-efficacy, and mental (depressive, anxiety, and distress symptoms) or physical (physical activity, nutrition, and fatigue) health outcomes were included. Data from eligible full-text articles were independently extracted by six observers. RESULTS Thirty-two unique studies (4,790 patients) were included. All were health self-management interventions, and most were multicomponent (videos, forums, and electronic reminder systems) websites. Meta-analyses revealed a significant effect of eHealth interventions on QOL (standardized mean difference [SMD], 0.20 [95% CI, 0.03 to 0.36]), self-efficacy (SMD, 0.45 [95% CI, 0.24 to 0.65]), distress (SMD, -0.41 [95% CI,-0.63 to -0.20]), and fatigue (SMD, -0.37 [95% CI, -0.61 to -0.13]). Twenty-five studies (78.1%) measured patient-reported experience measures. Acceptability (n = 9) was high, with high ratings for satisfaction (range, 71%-100%), usefulness (range, 71%-95%), and ease-of-use (range, 73%-92%). Engagement (n = 25) decreased over time, but disease-focused information and interactive support were most engaging. CONCLUSION eHealth interventions may provide an acceptable and effective strategy for improving QOL, distress, self-efficacy, and fatigue among patients with breast cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Globally, the burden of cancer on population health is growing. Recent trends such as increasing survival rates have resulted in a need to adapt cancer care to ensure a good care experience and manageable expenditures. eHealth is a promising way to increase the quality of cancer care and support patients and survivors. OBJECTIVE The aim of this systematic review was 2-fold. First, we aimed to provide an overview of eHealth interventions and their characteristics for Dutch patients with and survivors of cancer. Second, we aimed to provide an overview of the empirical evidence regarding the impact of eHealth interventions in cancer care on population health, quality of care, and per capita costs (the Triple Aim domains). METHODS The electronic databases Web of Science, PubMed, Cochrane, and Ovid PsycINFO were searched using 3 key search themes: eHealth interventions, cancer care, and the Netherlands. The identified interventions were classified according to predetermined criteria describing the intervention characteristics (eg, type, function, and target population). Their impact was subsequently examined using the Triple Aim framework. RESULTS A total of 38 interventions were identified. Most of these were web portals or web applications functioning to inform and self-manage, and target psychosocial factors or problems. Few interventions have been tailored to age, disease severity, or gender. The results of this study indicate that eHealth interventions could positively affect sleep quality, fatigue, and physical activity of patients with and survivors of cancer. Inconclusive results were found regarding daily functioning and quality of life, psychological complaints, and psychological adjustment to the disease. CONCLUSIONS eHealth can improve outcomes in the Triple Aim domains, particularly in the population health and quality of care domains. Cancer-related pain and common symptoms of active treatment were not targeted in the included interventions and should receive more attention. Further research is needed to fully understand the impact of eHealth interventions in cancer care on participation, accessibility, and costs. The latter can be examined in economic evaluations by comparing eHealth interventions with care as usual.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Continuous progress in cancer care has led to its increased use in oral anticancer agents that are easily managed by patients at home with fewer costs and hospitalizations. However, correct self-care behaviors are needed for the safe use of these medications. This review aimed to synthesize studies on self-care behaviors in patients treated with oral anticancer agents. METHODS This systematic review used a convergent qualitative synthesis design for mixed studies. Studies on adult patients with cancer using any kind of oral anticancer agent and describing self-care maintenance, self-care monitoring, and/or self-care management behaviors were searched on PubMed, EMBASE, and CINAHL. After data extraction, the findings were retained for qualitative synthesis. FINDINGS Of 3419 records, 19 studies were included in this review. From the qualitative synthesis, all the retrieved behaviors were synthesized in the three self-care dimensions. Five themes and 18 subthemes were identified. Self-care maintenance included "adherence to the medications" and "prevention." Self-care monitoring consisted of "health surveillance and recognition of illness changes." Self-care management included "seeking help" and "autonomous management of side effects." Overall, most of the behaviors described focused only on adherence. CONCLUSION The findings of this systematic review could guide future studies on self-care and drive future interventions aimed at improving self-care in this vulnerable population. Nurses and other healthcare professionals should provide self-care support to patients taking oral anticancer agents. In particular, they should promote behaviors aimed at improving well-being, preserving health, or managing side effects.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The global cancer burden is a major public health problem. Cancer rehabilitation is an essential component of survivorship care for preventing complications, decreasing symptoms and improving functional quality of life (QOL). In addition to pre-existing challenges, the COVID-19 pandemic has greatly affected cancer rehabilitation programmes and their delivery to patients. This comprehensive systematic review will assess the efficacy and safety of telerehabilitation on functional outcomes and QOL in patients with cancer and survivors. METHODS AND ANALYSIS This study was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Protocols. The following key electronic bibliographic databases will be searched from their inception to April 2021: MEDLINE, Embase, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials and Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro). We will include randomised controlled trials (RCTs) published in English that examine the effects of telerehabilitation programmes on patients with cancer and survivors. The terms 'telerehabilitation', 'neoplasm', 'RCT' and their analogous terms will be used in our search strategy. Two reviewers will independently complete the study screening, selection, data extraction and quality rating. The PEDro scale will be used to assess the methodological quality of the included studies. Narrative or quantitative synthesis will be conducted on the basis of the final data. The planned start and end dates for the study are 1 March 2021 and 1 May 2022, respectively. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION Ethical approval will not be required for this review, and the results will be disseminated in peer-reviewed journals. PROSPERO REGISTRATION NUMBER CRD42021243467.

Abstract
Simple Summary In current clinical practice, between one third and a half of patients diagnosed with cancer experience distress. Moreover, many of these psychosocial needs often remain unaddressed, although effective interventions exist. Nowadays, eHealth solutions like ICOnnecta’t offer new tools to overcome these limitations and improve access to treatment. This digital ecosystem has been proved to be feasible to implement, reaching good acceptability, use, and satisfaction between users. In addition, it allowed symptom monitoring in real time, facilitating preventive early interventions. Overall, fostering social support appears as a key to facilitate a resilient response after diagnosis. Abstract Psychosocial interventions prevent emotional distress and facilitate adaptation in breast cancer (BC). However, conventional care presents accessibility barriers that eHealth has the potential to overcome. ICOnnecta’t is a stepped digital ecosystem designed to build wellbeing and reduce psychosocial risks during the cancer journey through a European-funded project. Women recently diagnosed with BC in a comprehensive cancer center were offered the ecosystem. ICOnnecta’t consists of four care levels, provided according to users’ distress: screening and monitoring, psychoeducation campus, peer-support community, and online-group psychotherapy. Descriptive analyses were conducted to assess the platform’s implementation, while multilevel linear models were used to study users’ psychosocial course after diagnosis. ICOnnecta’t showed acceptance, use and attrition rates of 57.62, 74.60, and 29.66%, respectively. Up to 76.19% of users reported being satisfied with the platform and 75.95% informed that it was easy to use. A total of 443 patients’ needs were detected and responsively managed, leading 94.33% of users to remain in the preventive steps. In general, strong social support led to a better psychosocial course. ICOnnecta’t has been successfully implemented. The results showed that it supported the development of a digital relation with healthcare services and opened new early support pathways.

Web-based psychological interventions for people living with and beyond cancer: A meta-review of what works and what doesn’t for maximising recruitment, engagement, and efficacy (Preprint). Abstract
Background Despite high levels of psychological distress experienced by many patients with cancer, previous research has identified several barriers to accessing traditional face-to-face psychological support. Web-based psychosocial interventions have emerged as a promising alternative. Objective This meta-review aimed to synthesize evidence on recruitment challenges and enablers, factors that promote engagement and adherence to web-based intervention content, and factors that promote the efficacy of web-based psychosocial interventions for patients with cancer and cancer survivors. Methods We conducted a systematic search of previous reviews that investigated the recruitment, engagement, and efficacy of web-based and app-based psychosocial interventions in adult patients with cancer and cancer survivors. We searched PubMed, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and the Cochrane Library database for relevant literature. The search terms focused on a combination of topics pertaining to neoplasms and telemedicine. Two independent authors conducted abstract screening, full text screening, and data extraction for each identified article. Results A total of 20 articles met eligibility criteria. There was inconsistency in the reporting of uptake and engagement data; however, anxiety about technology and perceived time burden were identified as 2 key barriers. Web-based psychosocial oncology interventions demonstrated efficacy in reducing depression and stress but reported weak to mixed findings for distress, anxiety, quality of life, and well-being. Although no factors consistently moderated intervention efficacy, preliminary evidence indicated that multicomponent interventions and greater communication with a health care professional were preferred by participants and were associated with superior effects. Conclusions Several consistently cited barriers to intervention uptake and recruitment have emerged, which we recommend future intervention studies address. Preliminary evidence also supports the superior efficacy of multicomponent interventions and interventions that facilitate communication with a health care professional. However, a greater number of appropriately powered clinical trials, including randomized trials with head-to-head comparisons, are needed to enable more confident conclusions regarding which web-based psychosocial oncology interventions work best and for whom. Abstract
PURPOSE To systematically evaluate the effects of Electronic health (eHealth) interventions on fatigue, pain, and sleep disorders in cancer survivors. DESIGN A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted. METHODS Relevant studies were searched from five databases (MEDLINE, Embase, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled trials, CINAHL, and PsycINFO). The comprehensive literature search was done in December 2020. Only randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that examined the effects of eHealth interventions among cancer survivors were included. FINDINGS Twenty-five RCTs were included. The meta-analysis showed that eHealth interventions had a positive impact on pain interference (SMD = -0.37, 95% CI: -0.54 to -0.20, p = 0.0001) and sleep disorders (SMD = -0.43, 95% CI: -0.77 to -0.08, p = 0.02) but not on pain severity or fatigue in cancer survivors. The sensitivity and subgroup analyses indicated that the pooled results were robust and reliable. CONCLUSION eHealth interventions are effective in improving pain interference and sleep disorders in cancer survivors. Additional high-quality RCTs are needed to test the effectiveness of eHealth interventions on fatigue, pain, and sleep disorders in cancer survivors. CLINICAL RELEVANCE This systematic review and meta-analysis provides evidence to offer effective and sustainable eHealth care for symptom management among cancer survivors.

Abstract
AIM This systematic review aimed to systematically summarize studies obtained through a database search and examine the effect of web-based intervention programs on self-management and symptom management in patients with lymphoma. METHODS A systematic review of randomized controlled trials was carried out. Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Web of Science, PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, ProQuest, Science Direct, and Ovid databases were reviewed until January 2021. The flow chart of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis checklist was used in the search procedure without setting a year limit. Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcomes and Study criteria were determined by two independent investigators and published randomized controlled studies in English with lymphoma diagnosis and web-based intervention programs for self-management and symptom management were included in the systematic review. The included studies were examined for their risk of bias with the help of the Cochrane Collaboration tool. A narrative synthesis of study findings was performed. RESULTS Six randomized controlled trials with 2382 participants were included in the systematic review. Web-based intervention programs in patients diagnosed with lymphoma were found to be generally implemented for determining the levels of self-management and symptom management. In all of the studies reviewed, it was found that the interventions had treatment outcomes. The risk of Bias 2 was evaluated as high risk in two studies that did not meet the criteria for blinding outcome evaluations. The included studies, while evaluating the effects of web-based intervention programs on patient outcomes, could not provide information about the underlying mechanisms by which these effects occur and how they occur. CONCLUSIONS All of the studies included were found to apply a technology designed to improve outcomes in patients with lymphoma. It is recommended that web-based intervention programs be individualized by adapting them to lymphoma types and stages, and serve as a guide for effective symptom management.
