Abstract
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic several vaccines were produced, including novel mRNA and viral vector-based vaccines. Though COVID-19 had its own associated dermatological sequelae, the vaccines were associated with a new set of cutaneous side effects, including hypersensitivity reactions, vasculitis, and autoimmune-mediated reactions. Notably, alopecia areata (AA) was reported in several patients closely following a COVID-19 vaccine, especially in those with a personal or family history of AA. A PubMed and Google Scholar search was conducted in July 2024 which resulted in 26 case reports/case series, 1 prospective study, and 3 cross-sectional retrospective chart reviews. Based on our holistic literature review, there is no evidence to support an increased association between COVID-19 vaccination and AA. Despite recent literature highlighting the incidence of de novo and recurrent AA after COVID-19 vaccines, several large retrospective analyses have shown that the overall incidence of AA in vaccinated individuals does not differ from that of historical controls. The potential for de novo AA after COVID-19 vaccine is low and the benefit of being vaccinated far outweighed the risks, especially within the first few years of COVID-19 vaccine rollout. While the decision to get vaccinated is a personal choice, the threat of developing AA secondary to vaccination should not be a deterrent.

Abstract
The presence of anti-polyethylene glycol (anti-PEG) antibodies can hinder the therapeutic efficacy of PEGylated drugs. With the widespread use of a PEGylated coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) messenger RNA vaccine (Comirnaty), the impact of pre-existing anti-PEG antibodies on vaccine potency has become a point of debate. To investigate this, we established mouse models with pre-existing anti-PEG antibodies and divided them into 3 groups: group 1 with anti-PEG immunoglobulin G + immunoglobulin M concentrations of 0.76 to 27.41 μg/ml, group 2 with concentrations of 31.27 to 99.52 μg/ml, and a naïve group with no detectable anti-PEG antibodies. Results indicated that anti-spike antibody concentrations significantly decreased in group 1 and group 2 after the 2nd vaccine dose compared to those in the naïve group. Spearman's rank correlation analysis demonstrated a negative relationship between anti-spike antibody production and anti-PEG antibody levels at both the 2nd and 3rd doses (2nd dose: ρ = -0.5296, P = 0.0031; 3rd dose: ρ = -0.387, P = 0.0381). Additionally, spike protein concentrations were 31.4-fold and 46.6-fold lower in group 1 and group 2, respectively, compared to those in the naïve group at 8 h postvaccination. The concentration of complement C3a in group 2 was significantly higher than that in the naïve group after the 3rd dose. These findings confirm that pre-existing anti-PEG antibodies diminish vaccine efficacy, alter pharmacokinetics, and elevate complement activation. Therefore, detecting pre-existing anti-PEG antibodies is crucial for optimizing vaccine efficacy, ensuring patient safety, and developing improved therapeutic strategies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Alopecia areata (AA) is characterized by an autoimmune inflammatory response to hair follicles. Several studies have suggested that infection and vaccination can trigger an autoimmune process around hair follicles. Moreover, reports of AA and various other autoimmune diseases have increased since the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic became established. OBJECTIVE We assessed the clinical characteristics and treatment response in patients who developed AA following COVID-19 infection or vaccination. METHODS This retrospective study involved patients who had developed COVID-19 or received a COVID-19 vaccination within 3 months before the onset or aggravation of AA from January 2020 to December 2022. RESULTS Fifty patients met the inclusion criteria. Eighteen patients had a history of COVID-19 infection, and 32 had a history of COVID-19 vaccination. The mean onset of AA after COVID-19 infection and vaccination was 5.22±3.35 and 4.13±2.73 weeks, respectively. The most common COVID-19-associated symptoms before AA were fever (88.9%) in the infection group and myalgia (50.0%) in the vaccination group. In the vaccination group, AA most commonly occurred after receiving the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine (BNT162b2, 46.9%) or Moderna vaccine (mRNA-1273, 34.4%). The vaccination group showed more rapid improvement than the infection group; however, both showed significant improvement after 6 months of treatment of AA. CONCLUSION We examined the clinical characteristics and treatment responses of patients who developed AA after COVID-19 infection or vaccination. Further research is needed to evaluate the detailed pathogenesis and association between COVID-19 and AA.

Abstract
Context The global COVID-19 pandemic has universally impacted individuals, with lactating women being uniquely susceptible to severe infection. Vaccination plays a critical role in building population immunity, mitigating severe illness and curtailing the health crisis. However, data on adverse effects and vaccine safety in lactating women remains scarce. Aims To assess the prevalence and types of adverse effects post-COVID vaccination in lactating women. Methods This study was conducted at a tertiary care hospital's COVID-19 vaccination centre in North India, and followed a prospective observational design over a specific timeframe. A total of 200 lactating women were surveyed, with specific inclusion and exclusion criteria applied. Telephonic follow-up was conducted for one month after the first dose for 152 participants and after the second dose for 123 participants. Adverse effects following immunization (AEFIs) were recorded and analyzed. Results Of the study cohort, 45 (29.60%) reported minor adverse effects following the first vaccine dose, with just four (3.25%) experiencing adverse effects after the second dose. Common AEFIs included fever (18.42%) and body aches (9.21%), along with headache, malaise, injection site pain and diffuse abdominal pain. Conclusions This study provides valuable insights into the adverse effects of COVID-19 vaccines in lactating women, which can help primary physicians and policy maker to improve vaccination policies and guidelines. The study revealed that lactating mothers experienced only mild AEFIs, aligning with current literature. Further broader, multicentre research is needed to reinforce these findings and to assess the long-term safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines in this population.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To date, multiple cases of adverse reactions to COVID-19 vaccines have been reported worldwide. Alopecia areata (AA) is an uncommon type of adverse reaction reported in some articles and has a significant social and psychological impact on patients. Our study aimed to review the AA and COVID-19 vaccine literature. METHODS This systematic review was conducted by searching for articles on AA following COVID-19 vaccines in international databases such as Embase, MEDLINE, PubMed, Web of Knowledge, and Ovid from December 2019 to December 30, 2023. We included studies that provided data for AA patients following COVID-19 vaccination with at least one dose. Data on sex, age, country/region of origin, vaccine type, days between vaccination and symptom presentation, manifestations of AA, trichoscopy and histopathological findings, treatment, and outcomes were included. RESULTS In total, 579 explored studies were identified and assessed, and 25 articles with a total of 51 patients were included in the review. Twenty-seven (52.9%) patients developed new-onset AA following receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, and AA recurrence or exacerbation occurred after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine in 24 (47.1%) patients with preexisting disease. Five vaccines were reported to cause AA in all cases. The Pfizer vaccine (45.1%) was the most frequently reported, followed by the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccine (27.5%), Moderna mRNA-1273 (19.6%), Sinopharm (3.9%) and SinoVac (3.9%). AA occurred most frequently within one month after the 1st dose, and then, the incidence decreased gradually with time. Topical or systemic corticosteroids were used in 38 patients. Eleven patients were treated with a Janus Kinase inhibitor (jakinib) inhibitor, eight with tofacitinib, and three with an unspecified jakinib. However, 3 of the 11 patients experienced exacerbations after treatment. CONCLUSION AA after COVID-19 vaccination is rare, and physicians should be aware of this phenomenon to improve early diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

Abstract
While global concern over vaccine-associated alopecia has been gradually increasing, it has also been reported that alopecia, classified as an autoimmune disease, can manifest as an immune-related side-effect caused by vaccinations. However, comprehensive research on vaccine-associated alopecia has been limited. Therefore, we carried out a comprehensive analysis using information from VigiBase (1979–2023) from more than 156 countries, managed by the WHO and the Uppsala Monitoring Centre. Thus, this global pharmacovigilance study of vaccine-associated alopecia, encompassing all age and sex groups, provides international and comprehensive evidence that substantiates the overall real-world impact of vaccines.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Alopecia areata (AA) is an autoimmune disease induced by viral infection or vaccination. With the increased incidence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the incidence of AA has also increased. Recently the incidence was found to be 7.8% from a previously reported rate of 2.1%. The physical and psychological damage caused by AA could seriously affect patients' lives, while AA is a challenging dermatological disease owing to its complex pathogenesis. AREAS COVERED This paper presents a comprehensive review of the prevalence, pathogenesis and potential therapeutic targets for AA after infection with SARS-CoV-2 or SARS-CoV-2 vaccine. EXPERT OPINION The treatment of AA remains challenging because of the complexity of its pathogenesis. For patients with AA after SARS-CoV-2 infection or vaccination, the use of sex hormones and alternative regenerative therapies may be actively considered in addition to conventional treatments. For preexisting disease, therapeutic agents should be adjusted to the patient's specific condition.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines are the most effective tools in managing the pandemic. However, the concern about these vaccines is the occurrence of unwanted adverse events (AEs). This study aimed to evaluate the short-term AEs of COVID-19 vaccines (Sputnik V, Astrazenka, and Sinopharm). A cross-sectional study using an online questionnaire was conducted among 321 vaccinated individuals. Demographic information, history of drug use, prior infection with COVID-19, the type of vaccine, vaccination stage, local injection site complication, systemic complication, and allergic reactions were collected and evaluated. Local complications, including pain and swelling at the injection site, and systemic complications, including fever, fatigue, lethargy, lymphadenopathy, and diarrhea, were reported after the injection of the AstraZeneca vaccine was more than the other 2 vaccines; The prevalence of fatigue and lethargy was higher than other systemic complications. The least reported complication was due to lymphadenopathy. The Sinopharm vaccine showed a lower prevalence of AEs than the other 2. The rare AEs, such as facial paralysis, nasal bleeding, and urticarial, were further reported after injection of the AstraZeneca vaccine. In general, the severity of systemic complications after the second dose of the vaccine was also higher than the first dose. All 3 vaccines were safe and tolerable. The most commonly reported AEs were injection site pain (local) and fatigue and lethargy (systemic). These expected AEs occurred shortly after vaccination and indicated an early immune response after vaccination.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Alopecia areata (AA) has diverse disease characteristics and multiple factors may interfere with the prognosis of the disease. OBJECTIVES In this study, the factors affecting the AA recurrence were evaluated. METHODS A total of a hundred patients diagnosed with AA between June 2022 and March 2023 were included in this retrospective, cross-sectional study. The patients were divided into two groups according to the presence of outbreaks. Both groups were compared in terms of age, gender, disease duration, number of outbreaks, family history of AA, previous medical treatment history for AA, clinical type, disease severity, presence of accompanying nail findings, and trichoscopic and laboratory characteristics. RESULTS Among 100 patients, male dominance was found (N = 69). Most of the patients had patchy disease (90/100), mild disease severity (88/100), and a solitary outbreak (65/100). Male gender, longer disease duration, family history, presence of S2 severity of alopecia tool score, trachyonychia, short vellus hairs in trichoscopic examination, hypothyroidism, and folic acid deficiency were factors for AA outbreaks. Male gender and the presence of a family member with AA in the family were defined as the independent prognostic factors for disease recurrence. CONCLUSIONS While demographic, laboratory, and clinical findings are factors for AA outbreaks in the follow-up, male gender and family history should be considered independent predictors.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The clinical characteristics and pathomechanism for immune-mediated alopecia following COVID-19 vaccinations are not clearly characterized. OBJECTIVE We investigated the causality and immune mechanism of COVID-19 vaccines-related alopecia areata (AA). STUDY DESIGN 27 new-onset of AA patients after COVID-19 vaccinations and 106 vaccines-tolerant individuals were enrolled from multiple medical centers for analysis. RESULTS The antinuclear antibody, total IgE, granulysin, and PARC/CCL18 as well as peripheral eosinophil count were significantly elevated in the patients with COVID-19 vaccines-related AA compared with those in the tolerant individuals (P = 2.03 × 10-5-0.039). In vitro lymphocyte activation test revealed that granulysin, granzyme B, and IFN-γ released from the T cells of COVID-19 vaccines-related AA patients could be significantly increased by COVID-19 vaccine excipients (polyethylene glycol 2000 and polysorbate 80) or spike protein (P = 0.002-0.04). CONCLUSIONS Spike protein and excipients of COVID-19 vaccines could trigger T cell-mediated cytotoxicity, which contributes to the pathogenesis of immune-mediated alopecia associated with COVID-19 vaccines.

Abstract
Despite the numerous reports of cutaneous manifestations associated with vaccines for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the relationship between COVID-19 vaccines and cutaneous side effects remains unevaluated. In this review, we examine these manifestations and their management. Reported dermatoses included injection-site reaction (early and delayed), type I allergic reaction, morbilliform eruption, pityriasis rosea, Sweet syndrome, lichen planus, psoriasis, herpes zoster reactivation, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN). The most common COVID-19 vaccination-related cutaneous manifestations are delayed local reactions, approximately 66% of which are associated with the Moderna vaccine, and 33% with the Pfizer vaccine. Aside from mild injection-site reactions, severe reactions include anaphylaxis and TEN. Most reactions, except for Stevens-Johnson syndrome and anaphylaxis, though unpredictable and unpreventable are mild and can be treated symptomatically. Findings from this review should allow primary care physicians and dermatologists to reach faster diagnosis and initiate prompt intervention.

Abstract
Messenger RNA vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 infection, or COVID-19 dramatically changed the landscape of the fight against COVID-19 pandemic. However, they might be associated with various side effects, such as myocarditis. Herein we report a case of alopecia universalis occurring after injection of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine in a Japanese patient. Healthcare workers should be aware of this rather rare complication after vaccinations.

Abstract
Background: Four vaccines have been authorized by the European Medicines Agency (EMA): viral vector-based vaccines (AstraZeneca; AZD1222 and Johnson & Johnson; Ad26.COV2. and 2 mRNA-based vaccines (Pfizer/BioNTech; BNT162b2 and Moderna; mRNA-1273). Adverse events (AEs) related to vaccination have been described in the literature. The main aim of the dermatological practice was to avoid the diffusion of COVID-19, allowing the continuity of care for patients. Objective: The aim of this review article is to investigate current literature regarding cutaneous reactions following COVID-19 vaccination, mainly inflammatory dermatological diseases. Materials and methods: Investigated manuscripts included metanalyses, reviews, letters to the editor, real-life studies, case series, and reports. Results: We selected a total of 234 articles involving more than 550 patients. We have divided the results section into various sub-sections to ensure greater understanding for readers. Conclusions: Clinicians should keep in mind the possibility of new onsets or the worsening of several dermatoses following vaccination in order to promptly recognize and treat these AEs. Certainly, vaccination should not be discouraged.

Abstract
COVID-19 vaccines have positively changed the course of the pandemic. They entered the market after only one year of the initial trials, which that yielded positive results in terms of safety and efficacy. However, after inoculating billions of people in the most extensive vaccination campaign worldwide, mild but common and some rare but potentially fatal adverse events have been reported. Among several self-reported adverse events, hair loss and alopecia have been linked to COVID-19 mRNA or viral vector vaccines. We tracked and followed a series of five cases with post-vaccine telogen effluvium and alopecia development in Ecuador. Here, we reported the clinical presentation of two women and three men with the diagnosis of post-vaccine hair loss. All patients received a heterologous vaccination scheme (mRNA and attenuated virus vaccine) with an additional viral vector booster associated with the apparition of telogen effluvium and alopecia universalis between 3 and 17 days after the vaccine was administered.

Abstract
Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease resulting in non-scarring hair loss. Alopecia areata can progress to become alopecia totalis (loss of hair from the entire scalp) or alopecia universalis (loss of hair form the entire body), with the progression estimated to range from 7% to 30%. There are no universally proven therapies that both induce and sustain remission, and furthermore, the course of alopecia areata tends to be unpredictable, with ~80% of patients achieving spontaneous remission within 1 year. We herein present the case of a 61-year-old female who presented with a 20-year history of alopecia universalis, and biopsy confirmed widespread granuloma annulare. Hydroxychloroquine was initiated to treat her granuloma annulare, with subsequent significant hair regrowth on her scalp, eyebrows, eyelashes, and arms. A review of the literature is presented showing that hydroxychloroquine has variable success in treatment of alopecia areata, alopecia totalis, and alopecia universalis.

Abstract
Numerous cutaneous manifestations related to the COVID-19 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) viral infection have been reported in literature. In this case report, we describe two acute hair-associated manifestations-the first being alopecia areata and the second is a case of Marie Antoinette syndrome or Canities subita where all the scalp hair has become white almost overnight. Both entities of hair changes were seen in the same patient.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The perception of COVID-19 vaccines as being unsafe is a major barrier to receiving the vaccine. Providing the public with accurate data regarding the vaccines would reduce vaccine hesitancy. METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted to collect data on the side effects experienced by the vaccinated population to assess the safety of the inactivated COVID-19 vaccine. RESULTS The majority of the study participants (n = 386) were female (71.9%), and 38.6% of them were under 30 years old. Around half of the participants (52.8%) reported side effects after receiving the inactivated COVID-19 vaccine. Fatigue (85.1%), a sore arm at the site of the injection (82.1%), and discomfort (67.2%) were the most commonly reported side effects after the first dose. Reporting side effects was significantly associated with the female sex (p-value = 0.027). Significant associations between being female and experiencing chills, muscle or joint pain, anorexia, drowsiness, and hair loss were also found, as well as being above the age of 30 and experiencing a cough. Being a smoker was significantly associated with experiencing a cough, and a headache. Furthermore, chills, and a sore throat were significantly associated with individuals who had not been infected before. CONCLUSION Mild side effects were reported after receiving the inactivated COVID-19 vaccine. Fatigue was the most commonly reported side effect. Females, older adults, smokers, and those who had never been infected with COVID-19 had a greater susceptibility to certain side effects.

Abstract
The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) represented a new worldwide challenge, strongly impacting on the global economy, overall health and lifestyle. Since then, several strategies have been adopted to contain the widespread of infection. Among these, vaccination is currently the most important measure to fight against the pandemic. However, several concerns such as slower-than-hoped-for rollout, the hurried approval with limited data, the mechanism of action (in particular mRNA-based), and the uncertain duration of protection they afforded were initially raised. Moreover, even if cutaneous reactions have been rarely reported in clinical trials, global mass vaccination showed several dermatologic reactions not initially recognized, leaving dermatologists to decide how to diagnose and treat them. In this scenario, dermatologists should be ready to promptly recognize these clinical manifestations. Thus, the aim of this manuscript is to review current literature on cutaneous reactions following COVID-19 vaccination, particularly inflammatory dermatological diseases, in order to help clinicians to better understand these dermatological conditions and to provide an extensive overview of all the vaccine-related skin manifestations.

Abstract
Although vaccination is widely accepted as an effective method of preventing and controlling the COVID-19 pandemic, many people are concerned about possible cutaneous side-effects, which can delay or prevent them from being vaccinated. The objectives of this systematic review were to assess the global prevalence and clinical manifestations of cutaneous adverse reactions following COVID-19 vaccination. PubMed and Scopus databases were searched for articles published from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2021, and reference lists for each selected article were screened. Case reports, case series, observational studies and randomized controlled trials that provided information on cutaneous adverse reactions following COVID-19 vaccines were included. A total of 300 studies were included in a systematic review of which 32 studies with 946 366 participants were included in the meta-analysis. The pooled prevalence of cutaneous manifestations following COVID-19 vaccination was 3.8% (95% CI, 2.7%-5.3%). COVID-19 vaccines based on the mRNA platform had a higher prevalence than other platforms at 6.9% (95% CI, 3.8%-12.3%). Various cutaneous manifestations have been reported from injection site reactions, which were the most common (72.16%) to uncommon adverse reactions such as delayed inflammatory reactions to tissue filler (0.07%) and flares of pre-existing dermatoses (0.07%). Severe cutaneous reactions such as anaphylaxis have also been reported, but in rare cases (0.05%). In conclusion, cutaneous adverse reactions are common, especially in those receiving mRNA vaccines. Most reactions are mild and are not contraindications to subsequent vaccination except for anaphylaxis, which rarely occurs. COVID-19 vaccination may also be associated with flares of pre-existing dermatoses and delayed inflammatory reactions to tissue filler. Patients with a history of allergies, pre-existing skin conditions or scheduled for filler injections should receive additional precounselling and monitoring. A better understanding of potential side-effects may strengthen public confidence in those wary of new vaccine technologies.

Abstract
Limited data concerning the development of autoimmune skin diseases after COVID-19 vaccination are currently available. Recently, a few reports described the development, worsening or recurrence of alopecia areata after the administration of COVID-19 vaccines. High variability in terms of disease onset following vaccination as well as the heterogeneous topical and/or systemic treatment approaches have been described. Methods: All patient-related data and images were obtained as part of clinical routine. Diagnosis of alopecia areata was established according to clinical and trichoscopic findings, along with the exclusion of common differential diagnoses. Results. Twenty-four patients, 20 females (83.3%) and four males (16.7%), with a mean age of 39.1 years (age range: 14–66 years), were examined for the occurrence of alopecia areata within 16 weeks after COVID-19 vaccination. Out of 24, 14 patients (58.3%) experienced a patchy alopecia areata, while an extensive disease occurred in 10/24 patients (41.7%): six patients with whole scalp involvement (alopecia areata totalis) and four patients with the whole body affected (alopecia areata universalis). Twelve patients reported a history of autoimmune disease (50%). Treatment with topical corticosteroid was performed in almost all patients with patchy alopecia areata, whilst it was associated with systemic drugs (corticosteroids, minoxidil, cyclosporin) in the case of generalized alopecia areata and alopecia areata universalis. Mean baseline values of Severity of Alopecia Tool (SALT) score decreased from 43.4 to 36.6 after 12 weeks of treatment, with evidence of hair regrowth in 16/21 patients. Conclusion. This study described the occurrence of alopecia areata after COVID-19 vaccination and its management that implicates the use of both topical and systemic therapies.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a major concern worldwide and various vaccines have been developed and approved for it, however some immune-related issues of COVID-19 vaccines should be considered and individualized for patients. In this study we report two cases of rapidly progressive hair loss following COVID-19 vaccination.

Abstract
Alopecia areata (AA) is a patchy autoimmune nonscarring hair loss. Various pathophysiological explanations are described with immune dysregulation being the most well established. In this report, we describe a 63-year-old lady with AA recurrence, in the form of AA universalis, after 32 years of remission, following administration of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccine. We also briefly reviewed published cases with similar presentations after receiving the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES In this study covering all of Turkey, we aimed to define cutaneous and systemic adverse reactions in our patient population after COVID-19 vaccination with the Sinovac/CoronaVac (inactivated SARS-CoV-2) and Pfizer/BioNTech (BNT162b2) vaccines. METHODS This prospective, cross-sectional study included individuals presenting to the dermatology or emergency outpatient clinics of a total of 19 centers after having been vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccines. Systemic, local injection site, and non-local cutaneous reactions after vaccination were identified, and their rates were determined. RESULTS Of the 2290 individuals vaccinated between April 15 and July 15, 2021, 2097 (91.6%) received the CoronaVac vaccine and 183 (8%) BioNTech. Systemic reactions were observed at a rate of 31.0% after the first CoronaVac dose, 31.1% after the second CoronaVac dose, 46.4% after the first BioNTech dose, and 46.2% after the second BioNTech dose. Local injection site reactions were detected at a rate of 35.6% after the first CoronaVac dose, 35.7% after the second CoronaVac dose, 86.9% after the first BioNTech dose, and 94.1% after the second BioNTech dose. A total of 133 non-local cutaneous reactions were identified after the CoronaVac vaccine (2.9% after the first dose and 3.5% after the second dose), with the most common being urticaria/angioedema, pityriasis rosea, herpes zoster, and maculopapular rash. After BioNTech, 39 non-local cutaneous reactions were observed to have developed (24.8% after the first dose and 5% after the second dose), and the most common were herpes zoster, delayed large local reaction, pityriasis rosea, and urticaria/angioedema in order of frequency. Existing autoimmune diseases were triggered in 2.1% of the patients vaccinated with CoronaVac and 8.2% of those vaccinated with BioNTech. CONCLUSIONS There are no comprehensive data on cutaneous adverse reactions specific to the CoronaVac vaccine. We determined the frequency of adverse reactions from the dermatologist's point of view after CoronaVac and BioNTech vaccination and identified a wide spectrum of non-local cutaneous reactions. Our data show that CoronaVac is associated with less harmful reactions while BioNTech may result in more serious reactions, such as herpes zoster, anaphylaxis, and triggering of autoimmunity. However, most of these reactions were self-limiting or required little therapeutic intervention.

Abstract
The prevalence of hair loss has increased during COVID-19. In this study, we review the current literature on incidence and characteristics of various types of COVID-19-related and COVID-19-vaccine- related hair loss including telogen effluvium, alopecia areata, friction alopecia and anagen effluvium. Regarding most of them, the more severe the infection, the more profound and prolonged the course of alopecia. However, the most important issue is reassuring the patients of the non-serious nature of this complication, since psychological support is the most important factor in the earlier resolution of the condition.
