Abstract
Adsorption free energies of 32 small biomolecules (amino acids side chains, fragments of lipids, and sugar molecules) on 33 different nanomaterials, computed by the molecular dynamics - metadynamics methodology, have been analyzed using statistical machine learning approaches. Multiple unsupervised learning algorithms (principal component analysis, agglomerative clustering, and K-means) as well as supervised linear and nonlinear regression algorithms (linear regression, AdaBoost ensemble learning, artificial neural network) have been applied. As a result, a small set of biomolecules has been identified, knowledge of adsorption free energies of which to a specific nanomaterial can be used to predict, within the developed machine learning model, adsorption free energies of other biomolecules. Furthermore, the methodology of grouping of nanomaterials according to their interactions with biomolecules has been presented.

Abstract
Identifying the cerebral arterial branches is essential for undertaking a computational approach to cerebrovascular imaging. However, the complexity and inter-individual differences involved in this process have not been thoroughly studied. We used machine learning to examine the anatomical profile of the cerebral arterial tree. The method is less sensitive to inter-subject and cohort-wise anatomical variations and exhibits robust performance with an unprecedented in-depth vessel range. We applied machine learning algorithms to disease-free healthy control subjects (n = 42), patients with stroke with intracranial atherosclerosis (ICAS) (n = 46), and patients with stroke mixed with the existing controls (n = 69). We trained and tested 70% and 30% of each study cohort, respectively, incorporating spatial coordinates and geometric vessel feature vectors. Cerebral arterial images were analyzed based on the 'segmentation-stacking' method using magnetic resonance angiography. We precisely classified the cerebral arteries across the exhaustive scope of vessel components using advanced geometric characterization, redefinition of vessel unit conception, and post-processing algorithms. We verified that the neural network ensemble, with multiple joint models as the combined predictor, classified all vessel component types independent of inter-subject variations in cerebral arterial anatomy. The validity of the categorization performance of the model was tested, considering the control, ICAS, and control-blended stroke cohorts, using the area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and precision-recall curve. The classification accuracy rarely fell outside each image's 90-99% scope, independent of cohort-dependent cerebrovascular structural variations. The classification ensemble was calibrated with high overall area rates under the ROC curve of 0.99-1.00 [0.97-1.00] in the test set across various study cohorts. Identifying an all-inclusive range of vessel components across controls, ICAS, and stroke patients, the accuracy rates of the prediction were: internal carotid arteries, 91-100%; middle cerebral arteries, 82-98%; anterior cerebral arteries, 88-100%; posterior cerebral arteries, 87-100%; and collections of superior, anterior inferior, and posterior inferior cerebellar arteries, 90-99% in the chunk-level classification. Using a voting algorithm on the queued classified vessel factors and anatomically post-processing the automatically classified results intensified quantitative prediction performance. We employed stochastic clustering and deep neural network ensembles. Ma-chine intelligence-assisted prediction of vessel structure allowed us to personalize quantitative predictions of various types of cerebral arterial structures, contributing to precise and efficient decisions regarding the cerebrovascular disease.

Abstract
Prediction of redox potentials is essential for catalysis and energy storage. Although density functional theory (DFT) calculations have enabled rapid redox potential predictions for numerous compounds, prominent errors persist compared to experimental measurements. In this work, we develop machine learning (ML) models to reduce the errors of redox potential calculations in both implicit and explicit solvent models. Training and testing of the ML correction models are based on the diverse ROP313 data set with experimental redox potentials measured for organic and organometallic compounds in a variety of solvents. For the implicit solvent approach, our ML models can reduce both the systematic bias and the number of outliers. ML corrected redox potentials also demonstrate less sensitivity to DFT functional choice. For the explicit solvent approach, we significantly reduce the computational costs by embedding the microsolvated cluster in implicit bulk solvent, obtaining converged redox potential results with a smaller solvation shell. This combined implicit-explicit solvent model, together with GPU-accelerated quantum chemistry methods, enabled rapid generation of a large data set of explicit-solvent-calculated redox potentials for 165 organic compounds, allowing detailed investigation of the error sources in explicit solvent redox potential calculations.

Abstract
<b>Background and Objective:</b> Beetroot juice is a biological antioxidant and acts as health-promoting minerals as well as soluble fibres and vitamins. This study aimed to encapsulate the Beetroot Juice Powder (BJP) by the conjugate sodium caseinate (NaCas) and Maltodextrin (MD) to protect it from environmental conditions. Produced flavoured acid beverage using BJP encapsulated using conjugates. <b>Materials and Methods:</b> Nano-encapsulation of BJP (20, 30, 40 mg g<sup></sup><sup>1</sup>) and determine the encapsulation efficiency, size and zeta potential. Rats were divided into 4 groups as follows, negative control, positive control and 2 test groups that received free BJP or encapsulated BJP. All rats except the negative control group were injected with CCl<sub>4</sub> twice a week. <b>Results:</b> The NaCas-MD conjugate has the advantage over the NaCas-MD complex of higher stability and BJP binding, also showing high encapsulation efficiency (>93.75%) of different levels of BJP. The flavoured beverage from the addition of BJP encapsulated by conjugate has better sensory and technological properties than fortified with BJP in the complex. Injection with CCl<sub>4</sub> leads to a decrease in body weight, serum parameters including, protein, albumin, GSH, CAT and SOD, also increase ALT, AST, ALP and liver weight. Moreover, a variable pathological alteration in liver tissue was found. At the end of the experiment receiving encapsulated beetroot juice led to improvement in all above body and liver weight, all biochemical parameters and histopathological elevation. <b>Conclusion:</b> Thus, it could be concluded that flavoured beverage containing BJP encapsulated by conjugate is of acceptable quality and high antioxidant activity. Also, it has a remarkable protective effect against acute hepatotoxicity.

Abstract
Fipronil (FPN), a phenylpyrazole insecticide, has been receiving increased attention owing to its toxicity, which is largely mediated through its effects on antioxidant systems. The present study was undertaken to assess the effects of resveratrol (RSV) and curcumin (CUR) on oxidative damage induced by FPN. Forty mature male Wistar rats were randomized into five groups (n = 8 per group): the first group was the control; the second was administered FPN (10 mg/kg); and the third, fourth, and fifth were co-treated with RSV (10 mg/kg), CUR (200 mg/kg), and their combination, respectively, 2 h prior to FPN administration. All animals were dosed via oral gavage for 4 weeks. FPN significantly (p < 0.05) elevated the sera of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), γ-glutamyl transferase (GGT), urea, creatinine, and cholesterol levels, whereas serum total protein, albumin, and triglyceride levels were significantly (p < 0.05) decreased, compared to those of the control group. Reduced glutathione (GSH), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), and catalase (CAT) were decreased (p < 0.05) in the FPN-treated group compared to those in the control group; however, malondialdehyde (MDA) and nitric oxide (NO) levels were markedly increased (p < 0.05) in the hepatic, renal, and brain tissues. Co-treatment with RSV or CUR alleviated (p ˂ 0.05) the increased lipid peroxidation and changes in enzymatic/nonenzymatic antioxidants induced by FPN; all these variables mostly returned to normal levels with the combined of RSV and CUR treatment. In conclusion, RSV and/or CUR relieved and synergistically reversed the FPN-induced tissue oxidative injury, probably by improving the antioxidant defenses via their free radical scavenging and antioxidant characteristics.

Abstract
This study was performed to study the impacts of rosemary cold-pressed oil (RCPO) for biostimulating health, growth performance, and intestinal bacterial populations of Japanese quail. The study included 300 growing 1-wk-old Japanese quails. Birds were divided into 3 groups in a complete randomized design experiment that involved 3 levels of RCPO (0, 1.00 and 2.00 mL/kg diet). Results revealed that the addition of rosemary oil numerically increased values of body weight and body weight gain when compared with the control group, particularly the highest level of RCPO (2.00 mL/kg diet). Birds fed diets supplemented with rosemary oil consumed more feed (P ≤ 0.01) compared with those fed the control diet. Feed conversion ratio tended to be improved in rosemary oil groups during the period 3 to 6 wk of age (P = 0.013). The highest level of rosemary oil (2.00 mL/kg diet) had the best impact on all carcass traits studied. RCPO supplementation showed an increase in serum total protein, metabolic hormones levels, while it reduced serum cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine, and protein carbonyl levels. Moreover, RCPO increased antioxidative enzymes, and reduced the lipid peroxidation in quail liver. The supplementation of 2 mL/RCPO kg diet showed significant reduction in populations of total cultural bacterial count, coliforms, Escherichia coli, and Salmonella spp. in the ileum when compared to the control. The current results showed that RCPO supplementation to Japanese quails diet could enhance the growth performance and reduce the intestinal pathogenic bacteria. Therefore, RCPO can be a beneficial antimicrobial and growth-promoting feed supplement for the Japanese quail.

Abstract
Fipronil (FPN) is a phenylpyrazole insecticide, widely used for agricultural and veterinary activities. Early reports indicated that FIP organ toxicity is primarily mediated by the induction of oxidative stress. Both thymoquinone (TQ) and diallyl sulfide (DAS) are natural antioxidants with established health benefits. This study investigated the potential ameliorative effects of DAS and TQ against FPN-induced toxicity in rats. Thirty-two male Wistar rats (150-180 g) were randomized into four treatment groups, receiving (I) saline, (II) FPN (10 mg/kg bw), (III) FPN with DAS (200 mg/kg bw), and (IV) FPN with TQ (10 mg/kg bw). All treatments were administered once daily for 28 days. The results showed that compared to the control rats, FPN-treated rats had significantly increased (p < 0.05) serum levels of uric acid, urea, creatinine, cholesterol, aspartate transferase, alanine transferase, alkaline phosphatase, lactate dehydrogenase, and γ-glutamyl transferase. Moreover, FPN significantly reduced (p < 0.05) the serum levels of total proteins, albumin, and triglycerides. In addition, compared with the control group, FPN-treated rats had significantly elevated (p < 0.05) malondialdehyde and nitric oxide levels, as well as significantly reduced glutathione concentration and activities of glutathione peroxidase, superoxide dismutase, and catalase enzymes in the hepatic, renal, and brain tissues. Cotreatment with DAS or TQ significantly ameliorated (p < 0.05) the FPN-induced alterations in all the previously mentioned parameters with more frequent restoration of normal control ranges in the TQ group. In conclusion, both DAS and TQ alleviated the oxidative injury of FPN, probably by enhancing tissue antioxidant defenses.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIMS It is very important to assess the nutritional intake in patients on dialysis given the high prevalence of poor nutritional status of those in this population. The aim of this study was to assess nutrient intakes in hemodialysis (HD) and peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients. METHODS A clinical cross-sectional study was conducted over 7 days on 14 dialysis patients (98 days) who were trained to keep a weighed food record and a 7-day food diary. Nutrient intake adequacy was compared with specific guidelines for Italians and dialysis patients. RESULTS The mean daily protein intake (0.92 ± 0.36 g/kg) and energy intake (EI; 25.3 ± 7.4 kcal/kg) were inadequate according to the European best practice guidelines (EBPG). The ratio of EI to resting energy expenditure was 1.22. Inadequate intakes, compared to the EBPG, were found for calcium (525 ± 162 mg/day) and iron (8.7 ± 2.1 mg/day). Dietary fiber (14.7 ± 8.7 g/day), niacin (14.4 ± 5.2 mg/day), thiamine (0.8 ± 0.3 mg/day) and riboflavin (1.1 ± 0.4 mg/day) were also inadequate according to the Italian recommended dietary allowances (LARN). HD patients did not display different nutrient intakes between the dialysis days and the interdialytic period. Overall, the percentage of days during which nutrient recommendations were not satisfied ranged from 16 to 100% depending on the nutrient. CONCLUSION Macronutrient and micronutrient intakes in HD and PD patients are largely inadequate compared to the EBPG. The weighed dietary record appears to be a useful and accurate tool for individual assessment of food intake in motivated patients. No nutrient intake differences were found between dialytic and interdialytic days in patients on HD.

Abstract
UNLABELLED ETHNPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: To investigate antidiabetic activity of purslane seeds on type-2 diabetic subjects and to provide scientific basis for the clinical use of Portulaca oleracea (PO). MATERIALS AND METHODS A thirty subject with type-2 diabetes divided into two groups, to receive 5 g of PO seeds twice daily while in the second group, their participants receive 1,500 mg of metformin/day. All participants were requested to report the effects of treatments on diabetic manifestations, their weights, body mass index (BMI), adverse effects, fasting and post-prandial blood glucose during treatment schedule. Blood samples from participants before and after treatment were taken for serum separation, which are used for measurement of serum lipids, liver enzymes, total and direct bilirubin, albumin, and insulin. RESULTS It showed a significant decrease in serum levels of triglycerides (TGs), total cholesterol (T(C)), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL(C)), liver alanine-, aspartate- and gamma glutamyl transaminase (ALT, AST, and GGT), total and direct bilirubin, fasting and post-prandial blood glucose, insulin, body weight and BMI while a significant increase in high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL(C)) and albumin but non-significant change of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) in PO seeds treated subjects. Metformin (M) group has the same results of PO group except in high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL(C)), LDL(C), and ALP levels had a different pattern. CONCLUSIONS PO seeds could be effective and safe as adjuvant therapy for Type-2 diabetic subjects. These results demonstrated that PO seeds possessed notable hypoglycaemic, hypolipidaemic and insulin resistance reducer effects; possibly due to its contents of polyunsaturated fatty acids, flavonoids, and polysaccharides.
