Abstract
China has built over 100,000 dams by 2020, with the total capacity of reservoirs reaching 989 billion cubic meters. The effects of reservoirs on the ecological environment of riparian zones need thorough study, yet current research covers only a small portion of China's completed dams. This study uses fixed effects vector decomposition and structural equation modeling to quantify the response of riparian vegetation to reservoirs near 921 completed dams in China, within a range of 1-10 km. The results reveal spatial variations in the response of vegetation to dam construction. Within a 1 km of the reservoir, riparian vegetation is negatively affected by habitat fragmentation and altered hydrological conditions (Coeff -0.14, P < 0.05). However, with increasing distance from the reservoirs, the effects diminish (P > 0.05, 2-5 km) or even become positive (Coeff > 0, P < 0.05, 5-10 km). Within the 1-10 km buffers, the negative effects of dams and reservoirs on riparian vegetation through climate and soil also show a distance decay (P < 0.05). This study provides new evidence of the long-term effects of hydraulic engineering development on riparian vegetation and explores the pathways and spatial scope of these impacts, which has important implications for hydropower planning and river ecosystem management.

Abstract
As the largest hydroelectric project in the world, the Three Gorges Dam (TGD) is expected to have significant environmental and ecological impacts on riparian vegetation in the Yangtze River Basin (YRB). However, existing studies have mainly focused on small segments of the YRB. In addition, few studies have quantified the responses of riparian vegetation to both climatic factors and dam construction. In this study, we investigated riparian vegetation dynamics over the entire YRB before, during, and after the construction of TGD from 1982 to 2015 using the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI). Furthermore, the effects of climatic factors and dam construction on riparian vegetation were quantitatively analyzed using path analysis. The results demonstrate that the YRB has experienced a generally greening trend after TGD construction. The impacts of climate change on riparian vegetation have exhibited notable spatial heterogeneity and temperature is the main climatic factor that affects riparian vegetation growth. Moreover, TGD becomes the major contributor to riparian vegetation dynamics in the YRB after TGD construction. TGD has not only directly enhanced riparian vegetation but also indirectly affected riparian vegetation by regulating the microclimate. This study highlights the significance of anthropogenic interference when evaluating the relationships between riparian vegetation and climatic factors, providing useful insights for the effective management and conservation of large-scale riparian ecosystems.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES Childhood overweight and obesity are influenced by a range of prenatal and postnatal factors. Few studies have explored the integrative pathways linking these factors and childhood overweight. This study aimed to elucidate the integrative pathways through which maternal pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI), infant birth weight, breastfeeding duration, and rapid weight gain (RWG) during infancy are associated with overweight outcomes in early childhood from ages 3 to 5 years. SUBJECTS/METHODS Pooled data from seven Australian and New Zealand cohorts were used (n = 3572). Generalized structural equation modelling was used to examine direct and indirect associations of maternal pre-pregnancy BMI, infant birth weight, breastfeeding duration, and RWG during infancy with child overweight outcomes (BMI z-score and overweight status). RESULTS Maternal pre-pregnancy BMI was directly associated with infant birth weight (β 0.01, 95%CI 0.01, 0.02), breastfeeding duration ≥6 months (OR 0.92, 95%CI 0.90, 0.93), child BMI z-score (β 0.03, 95%CI 0.03, 0.04) and overweight status (OR 1.07, 95%CI 1.06, 1.09) at ages 3-5 years. The association between maternal pre-pregnancy BMI and child overweight outcomes was partially mediated by infant birth weight, but not RWG. RWG in infancy exhibited the strongest direct association with child overweight outcomes (BMI z-score: β 0.72, 95%CI 0.65, 0.79; overweight status: OR 4.49, 95%CI 3.61, 5.59). Infant birth weight was implicated in the indirect pathways of maternal pre-pregnancy BMI with RWG in infancy, breastfeeding duration, and child overweight outcomes. The associations between breastfeeding duration (≥6 months) and lower child overweight outcomes were fully mediated by RWG in infancy. CONCLUSIONS Maternal pre-pregnancy BMI, infant birth weight, breastfeeding duration and RWG in infancy act in concert to influence early childhood overweight. Future overweight prevention interventions should target RWG in infancy, which showed the strongest association with childhood overweight; and maternal pre-pregnancy BMI, which was implicated in several pathways leading to childhood overweight.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The knowledge gap and attitude of allergic rhinitis (AR) patients using intranasal corticosteroid (INCS) led to the poor outcome of their disease. We aimed to develop and validate a new questionnaire to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) of AR patients that can be used to assess and understand the factors affecting compliance of INCS. METHODS The questionnaire comprised development and validation stages. A self-administered questionnaire was developed after a comprehensive literature review. It was subjected to content and face validity before a revised final version was drafted. Exploratory factor analysis was used to assess the validity of the questionnaire. Cronbach's alpha was used to verify internal consistency. RESULTS The development phase resulted in a questionnaire consisting of 14 items. Explanatory factor analysis revealed four factors associated with KAP. The four factors were extracted, and 12 items were kept. The factors were attitude domain with four items (factor 1), practice domain with four items (factor 2), and knowledge domain with four items (factor 3 has two items, and factor 4 has two items). The Cronbach's alpha of the four factors ranged from 0.614 to 0.809. The final questionnaire consists of 3 domains with 12 items (the knowledge domain with four questions; the attitude domain with four questions; the practice domain with four questions) and was valid and reliable. CONCLUSIONS The newly developed questionnaire has adequate validity and reliability. It is a useful tool to improve the treatment of AR patients by understanding the factors affecting their compliance.

Abstract
Parental beliefs, attitudes, and feeding practices play a vital role in childhood obesity. This study aimed to assess parental perceptions, concerns about weight, feeding practices using the Child Feeding Questionnaire (CFQ), and its association with body mass index (BMI) and maternal education in elementary school children. Participants aged 6–10 years (n = 169) were recruited and anthropometric measurements were obtained. Pearson’s correlation and hierarchical linear regression analysis were used to examine the association between BMI z-score and the seven factors of the CFQ. The BMI z-score was significantly associated with parental perceived child weight and concern about child weight. The BMI z-score had a significant negative association with parents pressuring children to eat. Parents of obese children reported significantly higher (p < 0.001) levels of perceived child weight (β = 0.312) and concern (β = 0.320) about their child’s weight compared to the normal weight and overweight groups. Parents of overweight children showed considerably less (β = −0.224; p < 0.005) pressuring towards their children to eat as compared to parents of normal weight children. Additionally, we found that the parental feeding practice (pressure to eat) was only dependent upon maternal education. The path analysis indicates that maternal education has a mediating effect on BMI z-score and pressure to eat is related to BMI z-score through maternal education. The findings demonstrate the association between the parents’ perceptions, concerns, and pressure to eat with BMI z-score of elementary school-aged children. Only the parental feeding practice pressure to eat was dependent upon the maternal education.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Despite the key role of Iranian nurses throughout disaster management, there is no instrument available to examine nurses' current disaster preparation levels. AIM The aim of this study was to develop and analyse the reliability and validity of a questionnaire on the nurses' knowledge, attitude and practice of disaster preparedness. MATERIALS AND METHODS The scale was developed based on a comprehensive literature review and applied to 112 nurses in three public educational center affiliated to Ilam University of Medical Sciences, Ilam, Iran. Relibility was obtained using the test-retest method. Cronbach's alpha was used to verify internal consistency. Exploratory factor analysis was used to assess the validity of the questionnaire. RESULTS Explanatory factor analysis using varimax rotation revealed seven main factors associated with the nurses' knowledge, attitude and practice regarding disaster preparedness. The questionnaire overall internal consistency using Cronbach's alpha was 0.785, showing acceptable internal consistency. The intraclass correlation coefficient using Test-retest method was 0.82. Total variance was 67.57%. CONCLUSION The instrument has satisfactory reliability and validity indices and can be used to measure nurses' knowledge, attitude and practice regarding disaster preparedness.
