Abstract
OBJECTIVE Postoperative venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a potentially life-threatening complication. This study aimed to develop a predictive model to identify independent risk factors and estimate the likelihood of VTE in patients undergoing surgery for cervical cancer. METHODS We conducted a retrospective cohort study involving 1,174 patients who underwent surgery for cervical carcinoma between 2019 and 2022. The cohort was randomly divided into training and validation sets at 7:3. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to determine the independent factors associated with VTE. The results of the multivariate logistic regression were used to construct a nomogram. The nomogram's performance was assessed via the concordance index (C-index) and calibration curve. Additionally, its clinical utility was assessed through decision curve analysis (DCA). RESULTS The predictive nomogram model included factors such as age, pathology type, FIGO stage, history of chemotherapy, the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), fibrinogen degradation products (FDP), and D-dimer levels. The model demonstrated robust discriminative power, achieving a C-index of 0.854 (95% CI: 0.799-0.909) in the training cohort and 0.757 (95% CI: 0.657-0.857) in the validation cohort. Furthermore, the nomogram showed excellent calibration and clinical utility, as evidenced by the calibration curve and decision curve analysis (DCA) results. CONCLUSIONS We developed a high-performance nomogram that accurately predicts the risk of VTE in cervical cancer patients undergoing surgery, providing valuable guidance for thromboprophylaxis decision-making.

Abstract
Objective To determine the prevalence and risk factors for the development of asymptomatic venous thromboembolism (VTE) in ovarian cancer patients who underwent interval cytoreductive surgery after finishing neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Methods This is a prospective observational trial. Female patients with pathologically proven ovarian cancer who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy without clinical evidence of VTE were included. Results A total of 107 patients were enrolled in this study. The mean age was 53.37 years, and the mean body mass index (BMI) was 34.11 kg/m2. Seven (6.5 %) patients suffered from silent VTE, as documented by bilateral Doppler ultrasound in the pre- and postoperative settings. The mean age of the patients in the VTE group was 56.17 years, and their mean body mass index was 31.71 Kg/m2. Their median serum CA125 concentration was elevated (325.6 units/ml). On the other hand, the median D-dimer level was elevated by 678 ng/ml fibrinogen equivalent units (FEUs) in the same group of patients. In the present study, comorbidities did not influence the incidence of VTE, as the 7 patients who were diagnosed with VTE did not have any comorbidities. Most of the patients who were diagnosed with serous adenocarcinoma (71.4 %) or stage IIIc disease (57.1 %) were most likely to develop VTE. Conclusion Silent VTE is more prevalent in patients with advanced-stage ovarian cancer and serous carcinomas.

Abstract
Deep venous thrombosis (DVT) has a significant negative impact on surgical and tumor patient's safety and quality of life. There was no specific report on the incidence and risk factors of postoperative lower extremity DVT in cervical cancer patients. Analysis of the risk factors of postoperative DVT in patients with cervical cancer is of great clinical significance for prevention and treatment. We retrospectively analyzed 309 cervical cancer patients treated by the Hubei Cervical Cancer Prevention Center and used a logistic regression model to test the risk variables of postoperative lower extremity deep venous thrombosis in cervical cancer patients. By univariate analyses, the results of the study showed that the incidence of postoperative DVT was significantly increased in cervical cancer patients complicated with old age, obesity, high preoperative plasma D-dimer level, increased preoperative triglyceride level, chronic diseases (hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease), open surgery, long operation time, intraoperative blood transfusion, advanced tumor stage, and preoperative chemotherapy/radiotherapy. Advanced age, obesity, elevated preoperative D-dimer level, high preoperative triglyceride level, and open surgery were independent risk factors for postoperative lower extremity DVT in patients with cervical cancer by multivariate regression analyses (all P < .05). In gynecologic patients with cervical cancer, there is a high incidence of postoperative lower extremity DVT. Clinicians should develop systematic and comprehensive prevention and treatment measures for the risk factors to lower this morbidity and improve patient prognosis.

Abstract
Objective Gynecologic cancers are associated with a high risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE). The Khorana score is a validated tool to assess risk of VTE in cancer patients. The purpose of this study is to determine if the Khorana score can be used as a risk stratification tool for VTE in patients with uterine cancer undergoing chemotherapy. Methods A retrospective cohort study of patients with newly diagnosed uterine cancer receiving chemotherapy over a 4-year period was conducted. The patients were stratified based on their Khorana score as well as their chemotherapy sequence, neoadjuvant or definitive versus adjuvant. Results A total of 276 patients were included: 40 received neoadjuvant or definitive, 236 adjuvant chemotherapy. Most patients had advanced stage disease (64.5%). 18 (6.5%) patients developed VTE within 180 days of initiating chemotherapy. High Khorana score was associated with a non-significant increase in VTE (K ≥ 2 OR 1.17, CI 0.40-3.39, K ≥ 3 OR 1.69, CI 0.61-4.69) but had poor predictive accuracy based on area under the curve (K ≥ 2 0.51, K ≥ 3 0.55). The VTE rate was higher in the neoadjuvant/definitive chemotherapy group to adjuvant (12.5% vs 5.5%, p = 0.11). While the former group had a higher average Khorana score (2.35 vs 1.93, p = 0.0048), this was not predictive of VTE. Conclusions While validated in other cancer types, the Khorana score was found to be a poor predictor of VTE in patients with uterine cancer. The use of the Khorana score to guide routine thromboprophylaxis in these patients should be used with caution and further investigation is warranted.

Abstract
PURPOSE Many investigations on prognostic factors in lung cancer have been conducted; however, little is known regarding the outcomes of lung cancer cases complicated by deep vein thrombosis (DVT). This study aimed to determine the risk factors and impact on outcomes of lung cancer patients concurrent with DVT. METHODS Lung cancer patients who underwent lower-extremity venous ultrasound were enrolled in this study. The patients were divided into a DVT group and a non-DVT group. Demographic information, clinical characteristics, and survival were analyzed by t-test, Wilcoxon test, chi-squared test, and logistic regression analysis. RESULTS Of the 160 enrolled lung cancer patients, DVT was detected in 30 patients. Among the DVT group, adenocarcinoma was the most common histological type (27/30, 90.00%). Lung cancer complicated with DVT was associated with advanced stage, more severe myocardial injury, and a hypercoagulable state (P < .05). Differences in driver genes between the two groups were not significant. Radiologically, lung cancer patients with DVT were more likely to present with pericardial effusion and pleural effusion than patients without DVT (P < .05). Following multivariable logistic regression analysis, advanced stage (OR 5.368, [95%CI 1.871-18.165], P = .021), NT-proBNP >300 pg/ml (OR 5.575, [95%CI 1.733-3.722], P = .018), D-dimer >5 mg/L (OR 8.449, [95%CI 4.323-18.536], P = .004), CRP >12 mg/L (OR 6.687, [95%CI 1.967-13.617], P = .010), and serum CEA >25 ng/ml (OR 4.755, [95%CI 1.358-3.123], P = .029) were independent risk factors for adenocarcinoma complicated with DVT. Finally, survival analysis revealed that the occurrence of DVT resulted in a poorer prognosis despite anticoagulant therapy (P < .05). CONCLUSION DVT is a potential complication in patients with lung adenocarcinoma and could represent a prognostic marker for unfavorable outcome. It is essential to screen for DVT in high-risk adenocarcinoma patients.
