Abstract
Objective This study aimed to evaluate and rank the effectiveness of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions for managing dyspnea severity, anxiety, exercise capacity, and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patients with advanced cancer. Methods A comprehensive search of PUBMED, HINARI, CENTRAL, and ResearchGate was conducted to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published up to March 2024. Network meta-analysis was performed to compare interventions, calculating mean differences (MD) and standardized mean differences (SMD) with 95% confidence intervals (CI). P-scores were used to rank the interventions. Risk of bias was assessed using the Cochrane tool, and the quality of evidence (QOE) was evaluated using the GRADE framework. Results A total of 42 RCTs, encompassing 3,832 patients, were included in the analysis. Among the evaluated interventions, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) demonstrated the most significant improvement in dyspnea relief (SMD = -1.91; 95% CI: -3.32 to -0.49; QOE: moderate), followed by acupressure/reflexology (SMD = -1.04; 95% CI: -2.02 to -0.06; QOE: very low). Activity rehabilitation was the only intervention that significantly reduced anxiety compared to the control group (SMD = -0.64; 95% CI: -0.97 to -0.32; QOE: very low). While all interventions showed trends of improving exercise capacity, none reached statistical significance. Notably, acupressure/reflexology significantly enhanced HRQoL (SMD = 1.55; 95% CI: 0.22 to 2.88; QOE: moderate). Conclusions Non-pharmacological interventions, particularly HFNC and acupressure/reflexology, were more effective than pharmacological approaches in improving dyspnea relief and HRQoL. However, the low quality of evidence underscores the need for high-quality, large-scale trials to confirm these findings and refine treatment strategies for dyspnea management in advanced cancer patients. Abstract
This systematic review and network meta-analysis (NMA) was to investigate the effects of different exercise modalities on inflammatory markers in cancer patients. Using the standardized mean difference (SMD) as the effect size, a Bayesian random-effects network meta-analysis and regression analysis were conducted. Searches were performed across five databases for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving cancer patients, with exercise as the intervention, reported outcomes related to inflammatory markers, and interventions lasting more than four weeks, up to June 2024. A total of 57 RCTs (3106 patients) were included. The Cochrane risk of Bias Tool was utilized to assess the RCTs, and the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) tool was employed to evaluate the quality of evidence. NMA results indicate that regular exercise is effective in reducing inflammation in cancer patients, with combined high-intensity aerobic and resistance exercises proving to be the most beneficial. The type, intensity, and total volume of exercise are critical factors in achieving positive outcomes. It is recommended to design exercise programs for cancer patients that combine aerobic and resistance training, with a gradual increase in intensity to ensure safety.

Abstract
PURPOSE This systematic review aims to evaluate the feasibility, safety, and adherence of home-based exercise interventions in people diagnosed with cancer. The primary research question is: Are home-based exercise interventions safe and feasible for people diagnosed with cancer? METHODS A comprehensive search of databases including PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library was conducted in January 2025, focusing on randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that involved home-based exercise interventions people diagnosed with cancer. Studies were included if they reported on safety, feasibility, and health-related outcomes. The Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro) scale was used to assess study quality and risk of bias. Adverse events were categorized by severity, and feasibility which was determined based on recruitment, withdrawal, and adherence rates. RESULTS From 127 eligible studies involving 10,562 participants, the review found that home-based exercise interventions are generally safe, with less than 3.2% of participants experiencing exercise-related adverse events, most of which were minor. Feasibility was supported by an average recruitment rate of 50.1%, which was calculated as the proportion of eligible participants who consented to participate across the included studies. Additionally, the review found a withdrawal rate of 13.7%, and an adherence rate of 76.2%. However, significant variability in these rates were observed across the studies, highlighting the challenges in maintaining participant engagement. CONCLUSIONS Home-based exercise interventions are feasible and safe for people diagnosed with cancer, with minor adverse events being the most common. However, there is a need for standardized protocols in reporting adverse events and better strategies to improve recruitment and adherence. IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS These findings support the integration of home-based exercise into standard cancer care, offering a practical and safe option for enhancing the health and well-being of cancer survivors. However, the successful implementation of these programs may require additional support from exercise professionals within primary care or community settings to ensure appropriate guidance and adherence. Personalized exercise programs, developed by qualified exercise professionals such as physiotherapists or clinical exercise physiologists, and improved reporting standards are essential to optimizing these interventions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There is a growing body of robust evidence to show that lifestyle behaviors influence mental health outcomes. Technology offers an accessible and cost-effective implementation method for interventions, yet the study of the effectiveness of interventions to date has been specific to the mode of delivery, population, or behavior. OBJECTIVE The primary aim of this review was to comprehensively evaluate the effectiveness of digital lifestyle interventions for improving symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, and well-being as coprimary outcomes in adults. The secondary aim was to explore the technological, methodological, intervention-specific, and population-specific characteristics that were associated with major changes in mental health outcomes. METHODS A systematic search was conducted across the MEDLINE, CINAHL, Embase, Emcare, PsycINFO, and Scopus databases to identify studies published between January 2013 and January 2023. Randomized controlled trials of lifestyle interventions (physical activity, sleep, and diet) that were delivered digitally; reported changes in symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, or well-being in adults (aged ≥18 years); and were published in English were included. Multiple authors independently extracted data, which was evaluated using the 2011 Levels of Evidence from the Oxford Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine. Inverse-variance random-effects meta-analyses were used for data analysis. The primary outcome was the change in symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, and well-being as measured by validated self-report of clinician-administered outcomes from pre- to postintervention. Subgroup analyses were conducted to determine whether results differed based on the target lifestyle behavior, delivery method, digital features, design features, or population characteristics. RESULTS Of the 14,356 studies identified, 61 (0.42%) were included. Digital lifestyle interventions had a significant small-to-medium effect on depression (standardized mean difference [SMD] -0.37; P<.001), a small effect on anxiety (SMD -0.29; P<.001) and stress (SMD -0.17; P=.04), and no effect on well-being (SMD 0.14; P=.15). Subgroup analyses generally suggested that effects were similar regardless of the delivery method or features used, the duration and frequency of the intervention, the population, or the lifestyle behavior targeted. CONCLUSIONS Overall, these results indicate that delivering lifestyle interventions via a range of digital methods can have significant positive effects on depression (P<.001), anxiety (P<.001), and stress (P=.04) for a broad range of populations, while effects on well-being are inconclusive. Future research should explore how these interventions can be effectively implemented and embedded within health care with a concerted focus on addressing digital health equity. Abstract
BACKGROUND The advancement of information and communication technologies has spurred a growing interest in and increased applications of patient-generated health data (PGHD). In particular, PGHD may be promising for older adults with cancer who have increased survival rates and experience a variety of symptoms. OBJECTIVE This scoping review aimed to identify the characteristics of research on PGHD as applied to older adults with cancer and to assess the current use of PGHD. METHODS Guided by Arksey and O'Malley as well as the JBI (Joanna Briggs Institute) methodology for scoping reviews, 6 electronic databases were searched: PubMed, Embase, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, Scopus, and Web of Science. In addition, the reference lists of the selected studies were screened to identify gray literature. The researchers independently screened the literature according to the predefined eligibility criteria. Data from the selected studies were extracted, capturing study, participant, and PGHD characteristics. RESULTS Of the 1090 identified studies, 88 were selected. The publication trend gradually increased, with a majority of studies published since 2017 (69/88, 78%). Almost half of the studies were conducted in North America (38/88, 43%), followed by Europe (30/88, 34%). The most common setting in which the studies were conducted was the participant's home (69/88, 78%). The treatment status varied; the median sample size was 50 (IQR 33.8-84.0). The devices that were used to measure the PGHD were classified as research-grade wearable devices (57/113, 50.4%), consumer-grade wearable devices (28/113, 24.8%), or smartphones or tablet PCs for mobile apps (23/113, 20.4%). More than half of the studies measured physical activity (69/123, 56.1%), followed by patient-reported outcomes (23/123, 18.7%), vital signs (13/123, 10.6%), and sleep (12/123, 9.8%). The PGHD were mainly collected passively (63/88, 72%), and active collection methods were used from 2015 onward (20/88, 23%). In this review, the stages of PGHD use were classified as follows: (1) identification, monitoring, review, and analysis (88/88, 100%); (2) feedback and reporting (32/88, 39%); (3) motivation (30/88, 34%); and (4) education and coaching (19/88, 22%). CONCLUSIONS This scoping review provides a comprehensive summary of the overall characteristics and use stages of PGHD in older adults with various types and stages of cancer. Future research should emphasize the use of PGHD, which interacts with patients to provide patient-centered care through patient engagement. By enhancing symptom monitoring, enabling timely interventions, and promoting patient involvement, PGHD have the potential to improve the well-being of older adults with cancer, contributing to better health management and quality of life. Therefore, our findings may provide valuable insights into PGHD that health care providers and researchers can use for geriatric cancer care. Abstract
BACKGROUND Increasing physical activity levels is a significant unmet need in cancer survivors, and it can likely be enhanced through a better understanding of the interventions developed. Some studies on patient-centered physical activity interventions have shown promising results in increasing daily activity levels among lung cancer survivors. However, the programs present a high heterogeneity, and there is no consensus on the parameters and their effectiveness. OBJECTIVE To examine the effectiveness of patient-centered physical activity interventions on clinical severity and functional capacity in lung cancer patients. METHODS A systematic review was performed on randomized controlled trials. A literature search was conducted using MEDLINE, Web of Science, Science Direct, and Cochrane Library (last search November 2023). The Cochrane tool and the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation system were used for quality assessment. Pooled data were meta-analyzed for physical activity levels, functional capacity, and cancer-related symptoms. RESULTS Fourteen studies, encompassing 1123 lung cancer patients, were included. The treatment status of patients varied. The components of the physical activity programs showed heterogeneity. Results revealed significant differences favoring patient-centered physical activity interventions over the control group for physical activity levels (P < .05), functional capacity (P < .001), and cancer-related symptoms (P < .05). CONCLUSION The results indicate that patient-centered physical activity programs positively enhance physical activity levels, improve functional capacity, and reduce cancer-related symptoms in patients with lung cancer. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE Patient-centered physical activity interventions show promise in improving the care and management of lung cancer patients. These interventions provide a basis for encouraging lung cancer patients to actively participate in their treatment.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Lung cancer is the second most common cancer diagnosed worldwide, resulting in significant physical and psychological consequences. In this narrative review, we explore the role of exercise as an adjunct therapy to counteract health issues experienced by people before, during and after treatment for lung cancer, and offer recommendations for exercise prescription and future research. DESIGN Narrative cornerstone review. METHODS A narrative review was conducted to explore the role of exercise in cancer care for people diagnosed with lung cancer. RESULTS Improvements in fitness, strength and quality of life have been demonstrated in people with lung cancer following participation in exercise programmes before, during and post treatment. Whilst combined aerobic (50-100 % heart rate maximum) and resistance (50-85 % of 1 repetition maximum) training, 2-5 times per week across the cancer continuum is typically prescribed, few people with lung cancer currently access exercise services. 'Optimal' exercise prescription is unclear, although is likely individual-specific. The immediate priority is to identify a tolerable starting exercise dosage, with the side effects of lung cancer and its treatment on the respiratory system, particularly shortness of breath (dyspnoea), likely driving the initial maximum threshold for session mode, duration and intensity. To date, exercise safety for people with lung cancer has been poorly evaluated and reported - few trials report it, but those that do report small numbers of serious adverse events. CONCLUSIONS Recommendations for health professionals prescribing exercise therapy to people with lung cancer are provided, with consideration of the strengths and limitations of the current evidence base.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is a significant burden for patients with advanced lung cancer. While exercise is recommended for managing CRF during pre- and active treatment phases, evidence supporting its efficacy in advanced stage remains limited. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to quantify the effects of exercise on CRF and its common complications in patients with advanced lung cancer. METHODS A systematic search of 4 databases (PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, and Web of Science) was conducted up to July 10, 2024 to identify relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Studies were selected based on predefined eligibility criteria, including adult patients with advanced lung cancer reporting fatigue as an outcome. Study selection followed Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 guidelines, and the risk of bias was assessed using the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool (RoB 2.0). The quality of evidence was evaluated with the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) system. Random- or fixed-effects models were used for meta-analyses based on heterogeneity levels. RESULTS Eight RCTs involving 749 patients were included. Meta-analysis revealed that exercise significantly improved CRF in patients with advanced lung cancer (standardized mean difference (SMD) = -0.33; 95% confidence interval (95%CI): -0.54 to -0.12); p = 0.00; I2 = 0.00%). Subgroup analysis showed greater efficacy in patients aged ≤60 years (p = 0.028), those engaging in traditional Chinese exercise (p = 0.003), and interventions lasting fewer than 12 weeks (p = 0.017). Exercise also significantly improved quality of life (SMD = 0.29; 95%CI: 0.02-0.55; p = 0.04; I2 = 0.00%) and reduced dyspnea (SMD = -0.43; 95%CI: -0.71 to -0.16; p = 0.00; I2 = 0.00%). No significant effects were observed on sleep quality, anxiety, or depression. The risk of bias across studies was moderate, and the quality of evidence, as evaluated by GRADE, was rated as low due to study limitations. Adverse events were minimal, with only one mild, exercise-related event reported. CONCLUSION Exercise significantly alleviates CRF in patients with advanced lung cancer, improves certain complications, and enhances quality of life. The intervention's effectiveness varies by age, type of exercise, and duration. Further high-quality studies are needed to validate these findings.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to investigate the association between physical activity (PA) levels and quality of life (QOL) in elderly lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy in China. METHODS Two hundred eight elderly lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy were recruited by convenient sampling at two tertiary A hospitals in Guangxi from October 2023 to March 2024. The evaluation of PA Levels by the International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form (IPAQ-SF) was conducted, and the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Lung (FACT-L) was utilized to measure the QOL. Multiple linear regression was used to identify factors correlated with QOL. RESULTS Out of 208 elderly patients with lung cancer who were undergoing chemotherapy, 119 (57.20%) had low-level PA, 79 (38.00%) had moderate-level PA, and 10 (4.80%) had high-level PA. The mean score of FACT-L was 95.41 ± 15.01, and FACT-L was correlated with age, residency, education level, and per capita monthly household income (P < 0.05). Moderate to high PA levels explained 19.4% of the variation in QOL among elderly patients undergoing chemotherapy for lung cancer. CONCLUSION Elderly lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy exhibited lower levels of PA. The increase in PA levels was associated with better QOL. Treatment options for elderly lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy may involve PA plans to boost their QOL. It is vital to evaluate the patient's physical condition and functional level when creating these plans to ensure safety and effectiveness, thereby increasing patient engagement and maximizing enhancements in their QOL.

Abstract
PURPOSE This scoping review aimed to identify and synthesize published studies on physical activity (PA) and cognition among persons with cancer and elucidate knowledge gaps. METHODS Articles were identified through electronic and manual searches (02/21 and 03/22) using the following inclusion criteria: (1) empirical, peer-reviewed publication in English, (2) sample comprised persons with cancer, and (3) reported at least one statistical association between PA and cognition. Multiple reviewers independently performed study selection and data extraction, and results were mapped in tabular and narrative form. RESULTS Ninety-seven articles were eligible; these were largely published from 2017 to 2022 (54.6%), conducted in high-income countries (96.9%), and presented (quasi-)experimental studies (73.2%). Samples predominantly comprised women with breast cancer (48.5%), and recruitment often occurred post-treatment (63.9%). PA interventions included: aerobic (32.3%), resistance (4.8%), combined aerobic/resistance (38.7%), mind-body (19.4%), or other PA (4.8%). Most (66%) articles reported inconclusive findings; 32% were positive (in support of PA promoting cognition or vice versa), and 2.1% were negative. Diverse samples and studies with long-term follow-up were scarce. CONCLUSIONS The state of knowledge is insufficient and more rigorous, large-scale studies are required to provide definitive conclusions about the cognitive benefits of PA among persons with cancer. IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS Cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI) thwarts quality of life. This review summarizes what is known about the association between PA and cognition among persons with cancer and concludes that the evidence is currently equivocal. Hence, it remains uncertain if PA interventions can reduce CRCI, and large-scale PA intervention trials explicitly designed to promote cognition are greatly needed.

Abstract
DESIGN The purpose of this review is the analysis of the literature concerning the effects of physical exercise in cancer patients undergoing medical oncologic treatment. Papers were retrieved from the scrutiny of 15 reviews/meta-analyses published in the last 2 years, which, however, pooled different populations of patients (surgical and medical patients, receiving or not an oncologic therapy, harboring a cancer, or being survivors). RESULTS We reviewed the data of 35 RCTs on the use of physical exercise in cancer patients, distinguishing well-nourished from malnourished patients. The conclusions of our study are the following: No major difference between well-nourished and malnourished patients as regards compliance/adherence with physical exercise and outcomes. Compliance with physical exercise was reported in about 70% of the studies. Compared with a control group receiving the usual care, in patients who practiced physical exercise, a benefit in some parameters of physical function and quality of life and lean body mass (LBM) was reported in 61%, 47%, and 12%, respectively, of the studies in non-malnourished patients, and in 50%, 100%, and 36%, respectively, of the studies in malnourished patients. The benefit in LBM was more frequently reported in weight-losing patients. There was no strict association among the results of different outcomes (muscle function vs. quality of life vs. LBM). There are still some ill-defined issues, including the optimal physical regimen (with some authors favoring high-intensity interval training and resistance) and the place of exercising (patients usually preferring home exercises, which, however, have been proved less efficacious).

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study aimed to summarize the most effective evidence on nonpharmacological interventions for the fatigue-pain-sleep disturbance symptom cluster in lung cancer patients and to provide evidence-based management methods for clinical team and lung cancer patients. METHODS Guided by the "6S" pyramid model, we retrieved evidence on fatigue, pain, and sleep disturbance management from relevant websites and databases, and unpublished gray literature was also searched. The time frame of the search ranged from database establishment to September 30, 2023. Two researchers independently evaluated the literature quality using the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation II (AGREE II) for guidelines, and the Assessment of Multiple Systematic Reviews II (AMSTAR II) for systematic reviews. Two people independently extracted and summarized the evidence according to the first principle of high-quality evidence and newly published evidence. The included evidence was graded by the JBI Evidence Pre-Grading System. RESULTS A total of 52,238 articles were retrieved, of which 60 articles, including 18 guidelines, 18 JBI best practice recommendations, one Up To Date clinical practice, and 23 systematic reviews, were included. Overall, 49 pieces of evidence from six dimensions-screening, assessment, management, education, referral, and follow-up-were summarized. Forty-three pieces of evidence were level 1, three pieces of evidence were level 4, and three pieces of evidence were level 5. CONCLUSIONS The best 49 pieces of evidence on nonpharmacological interventions for the fatigue-pain-sleep disturbance symptom cluster in lung cancer patients were summarized in this study, and these nonpharmacological interventions are scientific and comprehensive. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING PRACTICE This study can provide guidance for clinical team to improve the fatigue-pain-sleep disturbance symptom cluster management. These evidence items can be implemented by clinical team to reduce the symptom burden and improve the self-management ability of symptoms in lung cancer patients.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The discovery of oncogenic mutations that drive the growth and progression of Non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) led to the development of a range of molecular targeted therapies. Tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) improve the overall outcome of patients with oncogene addicted NSCLC, ensure a better compliance to treatment and few side effects compared to traditional chemotherapy. However, the treatment is still completely "drug-centric", in a population of patients who usually survive for a long time and desire to regain their quality of life. Despite an extensive literature on the importance of complementary treatments and lifestyle promotion, the guidelines on physical exercise are general and usually refer to the entire lung cancer pathology. METHODS AND OBJECTIVES EXcellenT is an Italian monocentric randomized prospective study enrolling 40 patients diagnosed with oncogene-addicted advanced NSCLC in active treatment with TKIs. Patients will be randomized (1:1 ratio) to an 'interventional' or a 'control' group. In the interventional arm (arm A), participants will receive a 3-month multicomponent personalized physical activity prescription combining a supervised coaching program at the training center and an app-based physical activity schedule at patients home. In the control group (arm B) patients will receive a fitness professional-guided montly session that will result in an unsupervised home-based physical activity counselling. Prospective collection of blood metabolome and immune phenotypes will be performed to investigate the integration with genetic alterations that drive the patient's disease. The overall aim of the project is to evaluate if a tailored physical program may have a significant impact on quality of life and performances of this specific homogeneous subgroup of patients. The exploratory goal is to elucidate a potential link between metabolites, immune parameters and genetic deregulations and how this interplay may be influenced by physical exercise. CONCLUSION EXcellent trial aims to propose a new approach to personalized medicine in the specific subgroup of oncogene-addicted NSCLC patients, where targeted therapy is integrated with an equally tailored physical activity program. The homogeneity of this cancer population will provide insights on the influence of exercise on metabolism and immunity during treatment with TKIs.

Abstract
PURPOSE To assess the effectiveness of exercise interventions on psychological distress in lung cancer patients and how this effectiveness varies by cancer stage, treatment, intervention type (exercise/with other interventions), exercise mode, duration, and sustained effects over time. METHODS Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) investigating exercise effects on psychological distress were included. Exclusion criteria were studies with less than 50% lung cancer patients, those on pharmacotherapy/psychotherapy, and studies focused solely on breathing exercises. Data sources included PubMed, Embase, MEDLINE, CINAHL, and Scopus. Reporting followed PRISMA 2020 guidelines, with analysis via Review Manager 5.4, and quality assessed using Cochrane RoB 2. RESULTS Twenty-two studies with 1524 participants were selected from 611 articles. All intervention groups were compared to usual care. Meta-analysis, including 11 studies, showed significant reductions in anxiety (SMD = - 0.52, 95% CI = - 0.94 to - 0.09, p = .02) and depression (SMD = - 0.55, 95% CI = - 0.89 to - 0.21, p = .001). The subgroup revealed that early-stage patients, surgery alone, engaging in aerobic exercise (with other exercise modes) or combined interventions showed greater effectiveness in reducing anxiety and depression. Regarding sustained effects, exercise interventions showed a significant medium-term effect on reducing anxiety. CONCLUSION Exercise interventions show promise in reducing psychological distress among lung cancer patients. However, further research is needed to optimize these interventions and explore their long-term effects. IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS The effectiveness of exercise interventions on psychological distress in lung cancer patients varies by cancer stage, treatment, and intervention type, supporting the use of tailored programs.

Abstract
PURPOSE To synthesise evidence evaluating non-pharmacological interventions targeting mobility among people with advanced cancer, considering the type, efficacy and contextual factors that may influence outcome. METHODS Systematic review of studies of non-pharmacological interventions in adults (≥ 18 years) with advanced (stage III-IV) cancer, and assessing mobility using clinical or patient-reported outcome measures. Searches were conducted across three electronic databases (MEDLINE, EMBASE and CINAHL) up to June 2024. Methodological quality was assessed using Joanna Briggs Institute tools and contextual factors were evaluated through the Context and Implementation of Complex Interventions framework. A narrative synthesis was conducted due to clinical heterogeneity of included studies. RESULTS 38 studies encompassing 2,464 participants were included. The most frequent mobility outcome measure was the 6-min walk test (26/38 studies). Exercise was the most common intervention, (33 studies: 27 aerobic and resistance, 5 aerobic, 1 resistance versus aerobic training) and improvements in mobility were found in 21/33 outcomes. Electrotherapy interventions led to significant improvements in mobility in 3/5 studies. Geographical factors (e.g. distance, transport, parking requirements) potentially limited participation in 18/38 studies. A lack of ethnic diversity among populations was evident and language proficiency was an inclusion criterion in 12 studies. CONCLUSION Exercise and neuromuscular electrical stimulation appear to improve mobility outcomes in advanced cancer. The evaluation of other non-pharmacological interventions targeting mobility should consider access and inclusivity, and be adaptable to the needs of this population.

Abstract
Background Previous literature lacks summative information on the mental health benefits achieved from different forms of walking. Objective The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of different forms of walking in reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety. Methods This was a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing the effects of walking on depressive and anxiety symptoms. MEDLINE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), Embase, PsycINFO, Allied and Complementary Medicine Database (AMED), CINAHL, and Web of Science were searched on April 5, 2022. Two authors independently screened the studies and extracted the data. Random-effects meta-analysis was used to synthesize the data. Results were summarized as standardized mean differences (SMDs) with 95% CIs in forest plots. The risk of bias was assessed by using the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool. Results This review included 75 RCTs with 8636 participants; 68 studies reported depressive symptoms, 39 reported anxiety symptoms, and 32 reported both as the outcomes. One study reported the results for adolescents and was not included in the meta-analysis. The pooled results for adults indicated that walking could significantly reduce depressive symptoms (RCTs: n=44; SMD -0.591, 95% CI -0.778 to -0.403; I2=84.8%; τ2=0.3008; P<.001) and anxiety symptoms (RCTs: n=26; SMD -0.446, 95% CI -0.628 to -0.265; I2=81.1%; τ2=0.1530; P<.001) when compared with the inactive controls. Walking could significantly reduce depressive or anxiety symptoms in most subgroups, including different walking frequency, duration, location (indoor or outdoor), and format (group or individual) subgroups (all P values were <.05). Adult participants who were depressed (RCTs: n=5; SMD -1.863, 95% CI -2.764 to -0.962; I2=86.4%; τ2=0.8929) and those who were not depressed (RCTs: n=39; SMD -0.442, 95% CI -0.604 to -0.280; I2=77.5%; τ2=0.1742) could benefit from walking effects on their depressive symptoms, and participants who were depressed could benefit more (P=.002). In addition, there was no significant difference between walking and active controls in reducing depressive symptoms (RCTs: n=17; SMD -0.126, 95% CI -0.343 to 0.092; I2=58%; τ2=0.1058; P=.26) and anxiety symptoms (14 RCTs, SMD -0.053, 95% CI -0.311 to 0.206, I2=67.7%, τ2=0.1421; P=.69). Conclusions Various forms of walking can be effective in reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety, and the effects of walking are comparable to active controls. Walking can be adopted as an evidence-based intervention for reducing depression and anxiety. More evidence on the effect of low-intensity walking is needed in the future.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Health-related quality of life (HR-QoL) is often impaired in lung cancer survivors. To inform personalized survivorship care, we identified associations between HR-QoL scores and patient-, tumor-, and treatment-factors over time. MATERIALS AND METHODS We evaluated HR-QoL scores provided at diagnosis, 6 months, 1 year, and 2 years from the Yale Lung Cancer Biorepository. HR-QoL was measured via the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy - Lung (FACT-L) instrument and available for a subset of patients (n = 513). Analyses were stratified by early-stage (I-II; n = 355) non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), advanced stage NSCLC (III-IV; n = 158), and small cell lung cancer (SCLC, n = 21). We used mixed effects modeling and multivariable analysis with covariate adjustment to examine changes in FACT-L from diagnosis to follow-up. Sensitivity analysis was performed including patients with early-stage disease and complete FACT-L scores at both baseline and year 2 (n = 91). RESULTS The average FACT-L scores at diagnosis in early-stage NSCLC, advanced stage NSCLC, and SCLC were 121.0 (standard deviation (SD) 11.4), 109.2 (18.7), and 98.7 (20.2) respectively. At all timepoints, HR-QoL was higher in patients with early-stage NSCLC (vs advanced-stage disease). In patients with early- and advanced-stage NSCLC, HR-QoL was higher at years 1 and 2 than at diagnosis, though the changes did not meet clinical significance. At NSCLC diagnosis, higher HR-QoL was associated with older age, better performance status, participating in physical activity, adenocarcinoma histology, and (in advanced stage NSCLC) anticipated treatment with chemotherapy. At NSCLC follow-up, HR-QoL was higher in patients with higher BMI and better performance status. DISCUSSION In patients with newly diagnosed NSCLC, HR-QoL scores are impacted by patient factors, tumor factors, and treatment factors. HR-QoL is higher in patients with early-stage disease. In patients surviving 2 years, HR-QoL was higher at follow-up, though the change did not meet clinical significance. To optimize HR-QoL, lung cancer survivorship teams should prioritize comorbidity management, physical activity, healthy weight maintenance, and treatment-related side effects.

Abstract
Purpose To evaluate effects of aerobic and resistance exercises for cancer-related pain in adults with and surviving cancer. Secondary objectives were to a) evaluate the effect of exercise on fatigue, psychological function, physical function, b) assess fidelity to exercise. Design A systematic search of MEDLINE, EMBASE, AMED, CINAHL and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials was conducted to identify randomised controlled trials (RCTs) comparing aerobic and/or resistance exercise to control groups. The primary endpoint were changes in cancer-related pain intensity from baseline to post intervention. Meta-regression analysis evaluated predictors for heterogeneity between study findings. Tolerability was defined as reporting of exercise-induced adverse events while fidelity evaluated by reported intervention dropout. Results Twenty-three RCTs including 1954 patients (age 58 ± 8.5 years; 78 % women); 1087 (56 %) and 867 (44 %) allocated to aerobic/resistance exercise therapy and control group, respectively. Exercise therapy was associated with small to moderate decreases in cancer-related pain compared to controls (SMD = 0.38, 95 % CI: 0.17, 0.58). Although there was significant heterogeneity between individual and pooled study effects (Q = 205.25, p < 0.0001), there was no publication bias. Meta-regression including supervision, age, duration and exercise type as moderators showed no significant differences in reported outcomes. Analysis of secondary outcomes revealed a moderate effect for improvements in physical function, fatigue and psychological symptoms. Conclusions Aerobic and resistance exercises are tolerable and effective adjunct therapies to reduce cancer-related pain while also improving physical function, fatigue and mood. Future RCTs of dose, frequency, compliance and exercise type in specific cancer settings are required.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The aim of this systematic review was to summarize the current literature on wearable technologies in oncology patients for the purpose of prognostication, treatment monitoring, and rehabilitation planning. METHODS A search was conducted in Medline ALL, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Embase, Emcare, CINAHL, Scopus, and Web of Science, up until February 2022. Articles were included if they reported on consumer grade and/or non-commercial wearable devices in the setting of either prognostication, treatment monitoring or rehabilitation. RESULTS We found 199 studies reporting on 18 513 patients suitable for inclusion. One hundred and eleven studies used wearable device data primarily for the purposes of rehabilitation, 68 for treatment monitoring, and 20 for prognostication. The most commonly-reported brands of wearable devices were ActiGraph (71 studies; 36%), Fitbit (37 studies; 19%), Garmin (13 studies; 7%), and ActivPAL (11 studies; 6%). Daily minutes of physical activity were measured in 121 studies (61%), and daily step counts were measured in 93 studies (47%). Adherence was reported in 86 studies, and ranged from 40% to 100%; of these, 63 (74%) reported adherence in excess of 80%. CONCLUSION Wearable devices may provide valuable data for the purposes of treatment monitoring, prognostication, and rehabilitation. Future studies should investigate live-time monitoring of collected data, which may facilitate directed interventions.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the relationship between pulmonary function, physical activity, and health-related quality of life (QoL) in resected lung cancer patients based on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) framework developed by the World Health Organization to describe health and health-related states. METHODS A quantitative study was designed with postoperative lung cancer survivors to assess personal characteristics. We also assessed functional impairment related to the lung using forced vital capacity (FVC) and forced expiratory volume at 1 second (FEV1), activity limitations using maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max), anaerobic threshold (AT) and 6-minute walking distance (6MWD), and participation restriction using the 36-item Short Form Health Survey V1 (SF-36). Data analyses were conducted using the multivariate method and Smart- PLS to examine path coefficient among the measures. RESULTS Forty-one patients were enrolled in this study. FVC and FEV1 were poorly correlated with QoL, and 6MWD, AT, or VO2max were positively associated with QoL. AT or VO2max showed a significant (p<0.01) direct path with SF-36 in the ICF model. Although age and body mass index were not strongly correlated with QoL, these personal factors had a medium to large effect on perceived QoL. CONCLUSION Disability is a complex in patients with lung resection, and physical activity plays an important role in enabling participation. Improving VO2max and AT is needed to improve the QoL of resected lung cancer patients. We should also pay more attention to contextual factors that have a significant impact on social participation.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Lung cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. Depression is also a common concern for lung cancer patients and is of concern because it negatively impacts overall well-being. This study summarizes the existing literature on the impact of exercise interventions on quality of life and depression in patients diagnosed with lung cancer. METHODS A systematic search of electronic databases was performed to identify relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs) investigating the effects of exercise interventions on depression and quality of life in patients with lung cancer. Two evaluators collected information from the chosen studies utilizing a standardized data extraction form. The quality of the studies was evaluated using the Cochrane risk of bias tool. RESULTS Nine RCTs were included in the meta-analysis, with 798 participants. The pooled standardized mean difference (SMD) for the effect of exercise interventions on depression was -0.60, representing a statistically significant reduction in depression levels following exercise interventions (p < 0.001). The pooled SMD for the effect of exercise interventions on quality of life was 0.61, indicating a statistically significant association between quality of life and exercise interventions (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION There is evidence that exercise may benefit the mental health of individuals with lung cancer, including improvements in depression symptoms and quality of life, based on the intervention studies reviewed here. Given the heterogeneity in findings, however, additional randomized controlled trials are needed to augment the existing findings. Nevertheless, there appears to be sufficient evidence for now to encourage primary care physicians to recommend exercise for patients with lung cancer, while offering guidelines on how to gradually and safely increase physical activity depending on the patient's health status.

Abstract
PURPOSE Physical activity can provide analgesic benefit but its effect on cancer-related pain is unclear. This review synthesised and appraised the evidence for the effect of physical activity on pain in people living with or beyond cancer. METHODS A systematic search of Ovid Medline and Embase was performed to identify randomised controlled trials (RCTs), randomised cross-over studies (RXTs), and prospective observational studies that examined physical activity and pain outcomes in adults living with or beyond cancer. Meta-analyses were performed to generate effect estimates. Risk of bias was assessed, and the GRADE system was used to assess evidence quality. RESULTS One hundred twenty-one studies (n = 13,806), including 102 RCTs, 6 RXTs, and 13 observational studies, met the criteria for inclusion. Meta-analyses of RCTs identified a decrease in pain intensity (n = 3734; standardised mean difference (SMD) - 0.30; 95% confidence interval (CI) - 0.45, - 0.15) and bodily pain (n = 1170; SMD 0.28; 95% CI 0.01, 0.56) but not pain interference (n = 207; SMD - 0.13, 95% CI - 0.42, 0.15) following physical activity interventions. Individual studies also identified a reduction in pain sensitivity but not analgesic use, although meta-analysis was not possible for these outcomes. High heterogeneity between studies, low certainty in some effect estimates, and possible publication bias meant that evidence quality was graded as very low to low. CONCLUSION Physical activity may decrease pain in people living with and beyond cancer; however, high heterogeneity limits the ability to generalise this finding to all people with cancer or to specific types of cancer-related pain.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To identify nursing support provided for the relief of breathlessness in patients with cancer. DESIGN A scoping review following a standard framework proposed by Arksey and O'Malley. STUDY SELECTION Electronic databases (PubMed, CINAHL, CENTRAL and Ichushi-Web of the Japan Medical Abstract Society Databases) were searched from inception to 31 January 2022. Studies reporting on patients with cancer (aged ≥18 years), intervention for relief from breathlessness, nursing support and quantitatively assessed breathlessness using a scale were included. RESULTS Overall, 2629 articles were screened, and 27 were finally included. Results of the qualitative thematic analysis were categorised into 12 nursing support components: fan therapy, nurse-led intervention, multidisciplinary intervention, psychoeducational programme, breathing technique, walking therapy, inspiratory muscle training, respiratory rehabilitation, yoga, acupuncture, guided imagery and abdominal massage. CONCLUSIONS We identified 12 components of nursing support for breathlessness in patients with cancer. The study results may be useful to understand the actual state of nursing support provided for breathlessness in patients with terminal cancer and to consider possible support that can be implemented.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cognitive impairment is one of the most frequently reported symptoms in patients with non-central nervous system (non-CNS) cancer. Walking has positive effects on cognitive function. However, the effects of walking interventions on cognitive function outcomes in patients with non-CNS cancer are not well synthesized. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to explore the characteristics of walking intervention and its effects on cognitive function in patients with non-CNS cancer. METHODS Ten databases were searched to identify eligible randomized controlled trials from each database's inception to June 7, 2021. The Physiotherapy Evidence Database Scale was used to assess the quality of the included studies. RESULTS Five randomized controlled trials involving 242 adults with non-CNS cancer were included. Two studies involving immediate treadmill walking interventions with moderate intensity at 40% to 60% maximal heart rate reported significantly improved objective cognitive domains of processing speed and spatial working memory with small to moderate effect sizes for cancer survivors. One study delivering home-based, moderate-intensity walking intervention had borderline significantly positive effects on perceived cognitive functioning for patients with non-CNS cancer during chemotherapy. CONCLUSION Walking intervention with moderate intensity is a beneficial approach to improve objective cognitive domains of processing speed and spatial working memory and perceived cognitive function. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE Nurses may provide moderate-intensity walking with 40% to 60% maximal heart rate monitoring to alleviate cognitive problems during the continuous process of cancer care. The modality and dosage of intervention should be adjusted depending on this population's tolerance to better maintain training.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Cancer-related pain is common and undertreated. Exercise is known to have a pain-relieving effect in non-cancer pain. OBJECTIVES This systematic review aimed to evaluate (1) the effect of exercise on cancer-related pain in all cancers, and (2) whether the effect of exercise differed according to exercise mode, degree of supervision, intervention duration and timing (during or after cancer treatment), pain types, measurement tool and cancer type. METHODS Electronic searches were undertaken in six databases to identify exercise studies evaluating pain in people with cancer, published prior to 11 January 2023. All stages of screening and data extraction were conducted independently by two authors. The Cochrane risk of bias tool for randomised trials (RoB 2) was used and overall strength of evidence was assessed using the GRADE approach. Meta-analyses were performed overall and by study design, exercise intervention and pain characteristics. RESULTS In total, 71 studies reported in 74 papers were eligible for inclusion. The overall meta-analysis included 5877 participants and showed reductions in pain favouring exercise (standardised mean difference - 0.45; 95% confidence interval - 0.62, - 0.28). For most (> 82%) of the subgroup analyses, the direction of effect favoured exercise compared with usual care, with effect sizes ranging from small to large (median effect size - 0.35; range - 0.03 to - 1.17). The overall strength of evidence for the effect of exercise on cancer-related pain was very low. CONCLUSION The findings provide support that exercise participation does not worsen cancer-related pain and that it may be beneficial. Better pain categorisation and inclusion of more diverse cancer populations in future research would improve understanding of the extent of benefit and to whom. Abstract
Advanced-stage lung cancer (LC) causes significant morbidity and impacts patients' quality of life (QoL). Exercise has been proven to be safe, feasible, and beneficial for symptom reduction and QoL improvement in many types of cancers, but research is limited in advanced-stage LC patients. This systematic review evaluates the effect of exercise interventions on the symptoms and QoL in patients with advanced-stage LC. Twelve prospective studies (744 participants) were included, evaluating different combinations of exercises and training such as aerobics, tai chi, strength, inspiratory muscle training, and relaxation. Studies found outcomes including but not limited to improved QoL, symptom burden, psychosocial health, functional status, and physical function. The results of this review support that exercise is safe and feasible with evidence supporting improved QoL and symptom mitigation. Integration of exercise should be considered in the individualized management of advanced-stage LC patients under the guidance of their healthcare providers.

Abstract
Background Exercise is recommended for people with cancer. The aim of this study was to evaluate the harms of exercise in patients with cancer undergoing systemic treatment. Methods This systematic review and meta-analysis included published and unpublished controlled trials comparing exercise interventions versus controls in adults with cancer scheduled to undergo systemic treatment. The primary outcomes were adverse events, health-care utilization, and treatment tolerability and response. Eleven electronic databases and trial registries were systematically searched with no date or language restrictions. The latest searches were performed on April 26, 2022. The risk of bias was judged using RoB2 and ROBINS-I, and the certainty of evidence for primary outcomes was assessed using GRADE. Data were statistically synthesised using pre-specified random-effect meta-analyses. The protocol for this study was registered in the PROESPERO database (ID: CRD42021266882). Findings 129 controlled trials including 12,044 participants were eligible. Primary meta-analyses revealed evidence of a higher risk of some harms, including serious adverse events (risk ratio [95% CI]: 1.87 [1.47-2.39], I2 = 0%, n = 1722, k = 10), thromboses (risk ratio [95% CI]: 1.67 [1.11-2.51], I2 = 0%, n = 934, k = 6), and fractures (risk ratio [95% CI]: 3.07 [3.03-3.11], I2 = 0%, n = 203, k = 2) in intervention versus control. In contrast, we found evidence of a lower risk of fever (risk ratio [95% CI]: 0.69 [0.55-0.87], I2 = 0% n = 1109, k = 7) and a higher relative dose intensity of systemic treatment (difference in means [95% CI]: 1.50% [0.14-2.85], I2 = 0% n = 1110, k = 13) in intervention versus control. For all outcomes, we downgraded the certainty of evidence due to imprecision, risk of bias, and indirectness, resulting in very low certainty of evidence. Interpretation The harms of exercise in patients with cancer undergoing systemic treatment are uncertain, and there is currently insufficient data on harms to make evidence-based risk-benefits assessments of the application of structured exercise in this population. Abstract
PURPOSE There is some evidence of the benefits of physical activity (PA) in patients with lung cancer; however, there is a lack of understanding of acceptable PA for patients with established cachexia and how to facilitate sustainable behaviour change to promote PA. Therefore, this study explored the views of healthcare professionals (HP), patients with lung cancer and cachexia, and their carers on preferences for, barriers and facilitators of homebased PA. METHODS This qualitative study involved ten telephone interviews with HPs and face-to-face interviews with seven patients with lung cancer and cachexia and their carers. Interviews were transcribed and analysed thematically. The Capability, Opportunity, Motivation and Behaviour (COM-B) model was used as a framework for the thematic cross-group analysis. RESULTS The types of homebased PA suggested by patients with lung cancer and cachexia (n = 7), their carers (n = 7) and HPs (n = 10) were functional, flexible, individualised and initially of short duration and low intensity. PA was influenced by themes within physical and psychological Capability, physical and social Opportunities as well as automatic and reflective Motivation. CONCLUSION Based on a behaviour change theory, principles to promote homebased PA were developed. These principles need to be integrated into tools to promote PA in people with lung cancer and weight loss. IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS The application of the proposed principles by clinicians will promote physical activity, enhancing the function and wellbeing of patients with lung cancer and reducing burden on carers.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although considered one of the most important prognostic factors for lung cancer patients, the health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of the newly diagnosed lung cancer population remains scarcely focused on in the literature. Therefore, we aimed to identify the determinants of HRQOL among newly diagnosed lung cancer patients in Taiwan. METHODS Two hundred and fifty patients newly diagnosed with lung cancer were recruited from a medical center in northern Taiwan through convenience sampling. Four structured questionnaires, including the Taiwanese version of the MD Anderson symptom inventory (MDASI-T), the Taiwanese version of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI-T), the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form (IPAQ-SF), and the World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF), were used to collect data. Further, a multivariate stepwise linear regression was conducted to determine the independent risk factors for HRQOL. A p value of less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS The patients (mean age was 61.04 years, 51.2% male, 94.0% non-small-cell lung cancer, 56.4% stage IIIB-IV) had moderate levels of HRQOL among the physical, psychological, social, and environmental domains, as well as overall QOL. HRQOL was not correlated with married status, religion, and comorbidity. Gender, age, family income, smoking status, cancer stage, ECOG PS scores, PA, symptom burden (severity and interference), and PSQI global scores were correlated with HRQOL. Notably, symptom severity was the dominant negative predictor affecting the psychological and environmental domains of QOL (β = -4.313 and -3.500, respectively), accounting for 23.2% and 14.6% of the variance, respectively. On the other hand, symptom interference was the dominant negative predictor affecting the physical and social domains of QOL, as well as overall QOL (β = -3.592, -1.984, and -0.150, respectively), accounting for 44.4%, 15.0%, and 24.1% of the variance, respectively. CONCLUSION Newly diagnosed lung cancer patients suffered symptom severity and interference that significantly impaired their HRQOL; particularly, symptom interference affected the physical domain of QOL. Healthcare professionals should pay more attention to cancer-related symptom severity, symptom interference, and HRQOL changes when caring for newly diagnosed lung cancer patients.

Abstract
Background Pain is the most common cancer-related symptom, but it is often undertreated. Telemedicine is widely used in cancer treatment, but its effectiveness is uncertain. Objective We aimed to evaluate the impact of telemedicine intervention on pain in patients with cancer. Design Methodological quality and risk-of-bias evaluation were conducted, and the sources of heterogeneity were explored through subgroup analysis and sensitivity analysis. Data Sources and Methods PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and clinical trial databases were searched up to 16 August 2022. Randomized controlled trials of the impact of telemedicine intervention regarding pain in patients with cancer were included, and the results related to pain were extracted. Results Twenty-one randomized controlled trials were selected from 1810 articles. A total of 1454 patients received telemedicine interventions, and 2213 received conventional medical services. Telemedical intervention had a positive effect on improving pain intensity [standard mean deviation (SMD) = -0.28, 95% confidence interval (CI): -0.49 to -0.06, p = 0.01] and pain interference (SMD = -0.41, 95% CI: -0.54 to -0.28, p < 0.00001), with statistical difference between the two groups. The subgroup analysis results showed that the telemedicine subgroup based on an application (SMD = -0.54, 95% CI: -0.91 to -0.18, p = 0.004) and the subgroup with intervention time ⩾ 6 months (SMD = -0.33, 95% CI: -0.52 to -0.13, p = 0.001), both demonstrated significant improvement regarding pain intensity, with significant statistical difference between the two groups. When the follow-up time was ⩾ 6 months, there was no significant difference (SMD = -0.24, 95% CI: -0.55 to 0.07, p = 0.13). Conclusion Compared with conventional medical services, telemedicine intervention can improve the pain of patients with cancer and is effective and acceptable regarding symptom monitoring. Integrating telemedicine interventions into cancer pain management may be a feasible option. But its long-term effects still need to be confirmed with more high-quality randomized controlled trials in the future. Registration https://www.crd.york.ac.uk/PROSPERO/; CRD42022361990.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Digital care has become an essential component of health care. Interventions for patients with cancer need to be effective and safe, and digital health interventions must adhere to the same requirements. OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to identify currently available digital health interventions developed and evaluated in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) targeting adult patients with cancer. METHODS A scoping review using the JBI methodology was conducted. The participants were adult patients with cancer, and the concept was digital health interventions. The context was open, and sources were limited to RCT effectiveness studies. The PubMed, CINAHL, Embase, Cochrane Library, Research Information Sharing Service, and KoreaMed databases were searched. Data were extracted and analyzed to achieve summarized results about the participants, types, functions, and outcomes of digital health interventions. RESULTS A total of 231 studies were reviewed. Digital health interventions were used mostly at home (187/231, 81%), and the web-based intervention was the most frequently used intervention modality (116/231, 50.2%). Interventions consisting of multiple functional components were most frequently identified (69/231, 29.9%), followed by those with the self-manage function (67/231, 29%). Web-based interventions targeting symptoms with the self-manage and multiple functions and web-based interventions to treat cognitive function and fear of cancer recurrence consistently achieved positive outcomes. More studies supported the positive effects of web-based interventions to inform decision-making and knowledge. The effectiveness of digital health interventions targeting anxiety, depression, distress, fatigue, health-related quality of life or quality of life, pain, physical activity, and sleep was subject to their type and function. A relatively small number of digital health interventions specifically targeted older adults (6/231, 2.6%) or patients with advanced or metastatic cancer (22/231, 9.5%). CONCLUSIONS This scoping review summarized digital health interventions developed and evaluated in RCTs involving adult patients with cancer. Systematic reviews of the identified digital interventions are strongly recommended to integrate digital health interventions into clinical practice. The identified gaps in digital health interventions for cancer care need to be reflected in future digital health research.

Abstract
BACKGROUND A growing number of articles had reported the beneficial effects of physical exercise on reduced risks of cancer recurrence and mortality. However, the associations between physical exercise and laboratory biomarkers still had controversy. As we knew, this meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was the first time for us to comprehensively clarify their relationships in cancer patients. METHODS We comprehensively searched the PubMed, Cochrane Central, EMBASE, Web of Science, and SportDiscus online databases to identify eligible articles, up to June 1, 2021. Pooled standardized mean differences (SMDs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were utilized to clarify their associations. Sensitivity analysis was performed to assess the impact of the individual on overall and Begg's/Egger's plot was utilized to evaluate potential publication bias. RESULTS Finally, 35 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were finally enrolled in this meta-analysis. Our results indicated that physical exercise could significantly reduce BMI (pooled SMD = -0.32 - 0.56 to -0.09)), body weight (pooled SMD = -0.31 (-0.54 to -0.08)), body fat (pooled SMD = -0.44 (-0.70 to -0.18)), waist circumference (pooled SMD = -0.50 (-0.76 to -0.23)), hip circumference (pooled SMD = -0.54 (-0.80 to -0.28)), triglyceride (pooled SMD = -0.35 (-0.69 to -0.02)), fasting insulin (pooled SMD = -0.38 (-0.54 to -0.22)), glucose (pooled SMD = -0.56 (-0.84 to -0.28)), insulin resistance (pooled SMD = -0.40 (-0.72 to -0.07)), CRP (pooled SMD = -0.97 (-1.48 to -0.46)), IGF-1 levels (pooled SMD = -0.56 (-0.83 to -0.29)) and remarkably increase IGFBP-3 levels (pooled SMD = 0.81 (0.45 to 1.17)). Further sensitivity analysis and Begg's or Egger's test suggested that our results were robust with no significant publication bias. CONCLUSIONS Our results shed light on the beneficial effects of physical exercise on cancer patients by means of BMI/weight change and various biomarkers alteration (insulin-glucose pathways or inflammatory biomarkers). Our results were anticipated for clinical application to improve cancer patients' prognosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The importance of assessing and monitoring the health status of a population has grown in the last decades. Consistent and high quality data on the morbidity and mortality impact of a disease represent the key element for this assessment. Being increasingly used in global and national burden of diseases (BoD) studies, the Disability-Adjusted Life Year (DALY) is an indicator that combines healthy life years lost due to living with disease (Years Lived with Disability; YLD) and due to dying prematurely (Years of Life Lost; YLL). As a step towards a comprehensive national burden of disease study, this study aims to estimate the non-fatal burden of cancer in Belgium using national data. METHODS We estimated the Belgian cancer burden from 2004 to 2019 in terms of YLD, using national population-based cancer registry data and international disease models. We developed a microsimulation model to translate incidence- into prevalence-based estimates, and used expert elicitation to integrate the long-term impact of increased disability due to surgical treatment. RESULTS The age-standardized non-fatal burden of cancer increased from 2004 to 2019 by 6 and 3% respectively for incidence- and prevalence-based YLDs. In 2019, in Belgium, breast cancer had the highest morbidity impact among women, followed by colorectal and non-melanoma skin cancer. Among men, prostate cancer had the highest morbidity impact, followed by colorectal and non-melanoma skin cancer. Between 2004 and 2019, non-melanoma skin cancer significantly increased for both sexes in terms of age-standardized incidence-based YLD per 100,000, from 49 to 111 for men and from 15 to 44 for women. Important decreases were seen for colorectal cancer for both sexes in terms of age-standardized incidence-based YLD per 100,000, from 105 to 84 for men and from 66 to 58 for women. CONCLUSIONS Breast and prostate cancers represent the greatest proportion of cancer morbidity, while for both sexes the morbidity burden of skin cancer has shown an important increase from 2004 onwards. Integrating the current study in the Belgian national burden of disease study will allow monitoring of the burden of cancer over time, highlighting new trends and assessing the impact of public health policies.
