Abstract
OBJECTIVE To analyze RELT gene mutation found in a pedigree with clinical features and inheritable pattern consistent with amelogenesis imperfecta (AI) in China, and to study the relationship between its genotype and phenotype. METHODS Clinical and radiological features were recorded for the affected individuals. Peripheral venous blood samples of the patient and family members were collected for further study, and the genomic DNA was extracted to identify the pathogenic gene. Whole exome sequencing (WES) was performed to analyze the possible pathogenic genes, and Sanger sequencing was performed for validation. SIFT and PolyPhen-2 were used to predict and analyze the mutation effect. Comparison of RELT amino acids across different species were performed by using Uniprot website. In addition, the three-dimen-sional structures of the wild type and mutant proteins were predicted by Alphafold 2. RESULTS The proband exhibited typical hypocalcified AI, with heavy wear, soft enamel, rough and discolored surface, and partial enamel loss, while his parents didn ' t have similar manifestations. WES and Sanger sequencing results indicated that the proband carries a homozygous frameshift mutation in RELT gene, NM_032871.3: c.1169_1170del, and both of his parents were carriers. This mutation was predicted to be pathogenic by SIFT and PolyPhen-2. Up to now, there were 11 mutation sites in RELT gene were reported to be associated with AI, and all of the patients exhibited with hypocalcified AI. Compared with the wild-type RELT protein, the mutant protein p. Pro390fs35 conformation terminated prematurely, affecting the normal function of the protein. CONCLUSION Through phenotype analysis, gene sequencing, and functional prediction of a Chinese family with typical amelogenesis imperfecta, this study found that RELT gene frameshift mutation can lead to protein dysfunction in AI patients. Further research will focus on the role and mechanism of RELT in enamel development at the molecular and animal levels, providing molecular biology evidence for the genetic counseling, prenatal diagnosis, and early prevention and treatment of AI.

Abstract
In recent era, cancer is a major global health hazard and is mostly treated with either radio or chemotherapy. The above treatment procedure induces a secondary concern named as oral mucositis (OM). The disorder OM is specifically associated with oral mucosa and leads to bleeding, pain, difficulty in swallowing of solids, as well as fluids and speech difficulty. Curcumin is explored for prevention as well as treatment of OM. The article was organized via collection of enormous literatures by using the keywords like oral mucositis, chemotherapy, anti-inflammatory, curcumin, and clinical trials from search engines of different domains like Scopus, PubMed/MEDLINE, Science Direct, and Google Scholar with an increasing order of their year of publications. A numerous antineoplastic therapies resulted OM, as a devastating side effect. Moreover, the expanded pathogenesis of the disease permits a sound predictability over the patient's risk, thereby directing its adaptability and management protocols towards the achievement of novel therapeutics. An augmented interest towards curcumin as a potential therapeutic emerged because of its easy accessibility, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiulcer, antimicrobial, and wound-healing abilities along with reduced side effects. Curcumin can potentially alter OM and OM-induced weight loss but showed a great heterogeneity. Graphical Abstract

Abstract
BACKGROUND Dental caries is the most prevalent disease in elementary schoolchildren in Japan. Problematic Internet use (PIU) has increased among children; however, its association with caries has rarely been studied. We aimed to explore (1) sex differences in dental caries and (2) the association of dental caries with lifestyle and PIU among elementary school children in Japan. METHODS From 110 elementary schools in Toyama Prefecture, 13,413 children in the 4th-6th grades (mean age, 10.5 years) participated in the Toyama Safe Internet Use Project in 2018. We inquired about lifestyle, anthropometric data, family rules for screen time, PIU, and the number of self-reported treated caries. PIU was assessed using the Young's Diagnostic Questionnaire. We defined children having ≥ 3 caries as having multiple caries. Subsequently, a modified Poisson regression analysis was performed. RESULTS Overall, 12,146 children (90.7%) were analyzed. The prevalence of multiple caries was 25.7% (24.4% in boys and 27.0% in girls). In the regression analysis, the presence of multiple caries was significantly associated with being a girl(adjusted prevalence ratio (aPR) 1.13), being in higher grades (5th grade: aPR 1.13 and 6th grade: aPR 1.14), skipping breakfast (aPR 1.11), having late bedtime (10 to 11 p.m.: aPR 1.17 and ≥ 11 p.m.: aPR 1.23), tooth brushing (once a day: aPR 1.14 and not every day: aPR 1.41), having no family rules (aPR 1.20), and PIU (YDQ score 3-4: aPR 1.17). When stratified by sex, a dose-response relationship was observed between PIU and the presence of multiple caries in boys (YDQ score 3-4: aPR 1.19 and YDQ score ≥ 5: aPR 1.22). CONCLUSION Being a girl, having an undesirable lifestyle, and PIU were significantly associated with multiple self-reported caries. In addition to a having a healthy lifestyle, restricting PIU is recommended to prevent caries in children.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study evaluated the accuracy of implant placement using a robotic system (Remebot) compared to freehand surgery and explored factors influencing accuracy. METHODS This retrospective study included 95 implants placed in 65 patients, divided into robot-assisted (50 implants) and freehand (45 implants) groups. Platform, apical, and angular deviations were measured by superimposing preoperative plans and the postoperative CBCT images. Mean deviations between groups were compared, and regression analysis assessed the impact of implant dimensions and positioning on accuracy. RESULTS The robot-assisted group exhibited significantly lower mean deviations in platform (0.44 ± 0.17 mm), apical (0.46 ± 0.17 mm), and angular deviations (0.85 ± 0.47°) compared to the freehand group (1.38 ± 0.77 mm, 1.77 ± 0.82 mm, and 6.63 ± 3.90°, respectively; p < 0.001). Regression analysis indicated no significant impact of implant location, jaw type, or implant dimensions on the robotic system's accuracy, unlike the freehand placement where these factors influenced deviations. CONCLUSIONS Robot-assisted implant surgery significantly enhances accuracy and clinical safety compared to freehand techniques. Despite limitations, robotic surgery presents a promising advancement in implant dentistry by reducing human error.

Abstract
Robot-assisted dental surgery has gained significant attention in the field of dental implant therapy as an alternative to conventional free-hand surgery. It addresses challenges faced by human operators, such as limited visibility, operator fatigue, and lack of experience, which can lead to errors. Dental implant robots offer improved precision, efficiency, and stability, enhancing implant accuracy and reducing surgical risks. Accurate placement of dental implants is crucial to avoid complications during and after surgery. Robotic guidance in dental implant surgery provides several benefits. Firstly, the robotic arm offers haptic feedback, allowing physical guidance when placing the implant in the desired position. Secondly, a patient tracker integrated into the robotic system monitors patient movement and provides real-time feedback on a screen. This feature ensures that the surgeon is aware of any changes and can adjust accordingly. Lastly, the robotic system operates under human-robot collaboration, with the surgeon maintaining control and oversight throughout the procedure. Therefore, the objective of the current study is to review the dental implant robots, as well as accuracy and efficiency (e.g. operation and preparation time) of robot-assisted dental implant surgery procedures.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Dental cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is commonly used to evaluate cancellous bone density before dental implant surgery. However, to our knowledge, no measurement approach has been standardized yet. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between three different regions of interest (ROI) methods on cancellous bone density at the dental implant site using dental CBCT images. METHODS Patients' dental CBCT images (n = 300) obtained before dental implant surgery were processed using Mimics (Materialise, Leuven, Belgium). At the potential implant sites, the rectangle, cylinder, and surrounding cylinder ROI methods were used to measure bone density. Repeated measures one-way analysis of variance was performed to compare the three ROI methods in terms of measurement results. Pearson correlation analysis was performed to identify the likely pair-wise correlations between the three ROI methods. RESULTS The density value obtained using the surrounding cylinder approach (grayscale value [GV],523.56 ± 228.03) was significantly higher than the values obtained using the rectangle (GV, 497.04 ± 236.69) and cylinder (GV,493 ± 231.19) ROI methods in terms of results. Furthermore, significant correlations were noted between the ROI methods (r > 0.965; p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS The density measured using the surrounding cylinder method was the highest. The choice of method may not influence the trends of measurement results. Abstract
Background Accurate prediction of facial soft tissue changes post-orthognathic surgery is crucial for treatment planning and patient communication. Current models pose limitations due to the complexity of facial biomechanics and individual variances. Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as an important tool in many disciplines, including the dental field. Objectives The aim of this scoping review is to assess the accuracy of AI in predicting facial changes post-orthognathic surgery in comparison to traditional models. Explore the strengths and limitations of the current AI models. Material and Methods Following PRISMA-DTA guidelines, a comprehensive search was conducted manually and through Medline, Embase, Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar databases was conducted, focusing on studies that applied AI models with various machine learning and deep learning algorithms for post-surgical outcome prediction. Selection criteria were based on the PICO format, emphasizing studies that compared AI-predicted outcomes with actual post-surgical results. Literature was searched until January 31, 2024. Results The initial search result yielded 1579 records. After screening and assessment for eligibility, seven studies met the inclusion criteria, with publication dates ranging from 2009 to 2023. Several AI algorithms were evaluated on different orthognathic surgical procedures, revealing the high predictive accuracy of AI models across various facial regions. Conclusions AI demonstrates significant potential for enhancing the precision of facial outcome predictions following orthognathic surgery. However, despite the promising results, limitations such as small sample sizes and a lack of external validation were noted. Further research with larger, more diverse datasets and standardized validation methods is essential for optimizing AI's clinical utility. Abstract
Background Although the conventional replacement for lost teeth has been partial or full dentures, the need for a fixed, esthetic, and functional restoration makes dental implants a reliable alternative. Aim To evaluate the initial and final stability of platelet rich fibrin coated implants using resonance frequency analyzer. Method ology: Thirteen patients with two or more missing teeth were informed about the procedure, and a consent form was obtained after cone beam computer tomography evaluation. Blood was drawn from the anticubital area of the patient, which was centrifuged to obtain platelet-rich fibrin. In all, 26 implants were placed, among which 13 were platelet-rich fibrin-coated (test group) and 13 were without platelet-rich fibrin (control group), and implant stability quotient values were recorded. Results The mean age of the patients was 34.4 (SD = 4.28). Majority of the patients were males (9; 69.2%) whereas there were only four (30.8%) female patients. When comparison between overall primary implant stability with and without PRF was done, the mean difference was 5.12 and this difference was not statistically significant (p = 0.221) whereas a statistically significant difference (p = 0.019) was found when comparison between overall secondary implant stability was done with and without PRF. The primary and secondary stability values for the control group were 69.18 ± 7.45 and 73.84 ± 8.21 respectively, and the primary and secondary stability values for the test group were 64.06 ± 12.66 and 81.49 ± 7.61 respectively, which showed statistically significant differences among the groups. The difference in these values signify that primary stability is more in control group whereas secondary stability is more in case group. This signifies that PRF enhances the stability of implant. Conclusion Implants coated with platelet-rich fibrin exhibited better osseointegration than implants without platelet-rich fibrin.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Oral disease poses a significant public health burden for many countries and affects individuals throughout their lifetime, causing pain, disfigurement, impairment of function and reduced quality of life. Among children and adolescents globally, there is a recognized trend of poor oral hygiene, attributed to the accumulation of plaque and calculus deposits that increase with age. This study assessed the knowledge, practice and factors associated with the practice of oral hygiene among Junior High School students (JHS) in Koforidua, in the Eastern Region of Ghana. METHODS A school-based cross-sectional study design was conducted among 233 JHS students in Koforidua township using a multistage sampling technique. Descriptive and inferential statistics, including frequency, percentage, and Pearson's Chi-square test, were conducted. The results were interpreted using tables and graphs. RESULTS Findings from the study revealed that more than half 126 (54.1%) of the respondents had a good level of knowledge of oral hygiene. The majority 130 (55.8%) of them also had good oral hygiene practice. The findings further indicated that a significant relationship was found between the class or education level of students and good oral hygiene practice (χ2 = 17.36, p < 0.001). CONCLUSION Overall, the current study found that over half of the JHS students had good knowledge as well as practice of oral hygiene. This reinforces the significance of oral health education and awareness campaigns, especially in school settings, to improve knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours related to oral hygiene. The study however found only class or education level of students to be statistically associated with the practice of oral hygiene. While other variables did not reach statistical significance, our research serves as a starting point for further investigation and exploration of the various factors that may contribute to oral hygiene practices.

Abstract
Background The aim was to assess the consequence of different printing orientation on the marginal misfit and internal gap of 3-unit interim fixed partial denture manufactured by two different additive manufacturing technologies compared to milling technique. Material and Methods Three-unit interim fixed partial denture (FPD) was designed by using exocad software (Dental CAD 3.0 Galway) in the format of standard tessellation language (STL) , which was transferred to a nesting software (PreForm) and printed by A Next Dent C&B resin liquid (NextDent; Soesterberg, Neitherland) by using two printing technologies; stereolithography (SLA, n=30) and digital light processing (DLP, n=30) with 3 different orientations (occlusal direction [0°] ,buccal direction [90°] & lingual direction [270°]) for each technology (n=10). Additionally, a control group was milled (CAD/Milling, n=10) from DC PMMA A1 Disc (White peaks dental solutions; Gmbh& co., Germany). A Microcomputed tomography was used to measure the marginal misfit and internal gap for each specimen in 12 different points. The average value of the marginal and internal gaps measurements was calculated, and one-way ANOVA was used for the comparison between groups. Results SLA printing technology showed a similar result to CAD/Milling with all different printing orientations tested. DLP printing technology showed the highest gap values within all the printing orientations with significant difference (p< 0.001) with the CAD/Milling and SLA. Conclusions Regarding the trueness of the interim FPDs, SLA was a promising technology for its superior adaptation. Marginal misfit and Internal gap for DLP printing technology limiting the use of that technology as it exceeded the acceptable clinical range. Abstract
Objective Dental plaque bacteria, including Streptococcus mutans (SM), play a role in the pathogenesis of the dental caries. There are conflicting results regarding the association of salivary SM level and dental caries susceptibility. Our aim was to compare salivary SM levels in colony-forming units (CFU) between children with active caries and caries-free children in Birjand, Iran. Methods This case-control study included 61 six-year-old children referred to health centers in Birjand city, Iran, in 2022. The children were divided into two groups: case (dmft/DMFT>0 with active caries) (including 31 children) and control (dmft/DMFT = 0 [caries-free]) (including 30 children). Demographic information and dental history were recorded. Oral examinations were also performed by the dentist. Unstimulated saliva samples were collected from children. The number of salivary SM colonies was determined using the microbial culture and confirmed using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The data were analyzed using Chi-square and T-tests at a significance level of p < 0.05. Results The mean number of SM colonies was 126.24 ± 92.78 CFU/ml and 92.38 ± 75.34 CFU/ml in case and control groups, respectively. No significant difference was found in salivary SM levels between case and control groups (P = 0.125). No significant association was observed between caries experience with gender (P = 0.363), type of school (public/private) (P = 0.296), receiving oral health education (P = 0.072) and frequency of tooth brushing (P = 0.935). The mean gingival index (P = 0.001) and plaque index (P = 0.025) in case group were significantly higher than control group. Conclusion There is no significant difference in salivary SM levels between caries-active and caries-free children in Birjandi children.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To assess histologically the success of the pulp capping approach performed in traumatically exposed dogs' teeth using a novel injectable gelatin-treated dentin matrix light cured hydrogel (LCG-TDM) compared with LCG, MTA and TheraCal LC. METHODS Sixty-four dogs' teeth were divided into two groups (each including 32 teeth) based on the post-treatment evaluation period: group I: 2 weeks and group II: 8 weeks. Each group was further subdivided according to the pulp capping material into four subgroups (n = 8), with subgroup A (light-cured gelatin hydrogel) as the control subgroup, subgroup B (LCG-TDM), subgroup C (TheraCal LC), and subgroup D (MTA). Pulps were mechanically exposed in the middle of the cavity floor and capped with different materials. An assessment of periapical response was performed preoperatively and at 8 weeks. After 2 and 8-week intervals, the dogs were sacrificed, and the teeth were stained with hematoxylin-eosin and graded by using a histologic scoring system. Statistical analysis was performed using the chi-square and Kruskal-Wallis tests (p = 0.05). RESULTS All subgroups showed mild inflammation with normal pulp tissue at 2 weeks with no significant differences between subgroups (p ≤ 0.05), except for the TheraCal LC subgroup, which exhibited moderate inflammation (62.5%). Absence of a complete calcified bridge was reported in all subgroups at 2 weeks, while at 8 weeks, the majority of samples in the LCG-TDM and MTA-Angelus subgroups showed complete dentin bridge formation and absence of inflammatory pulp response with no significant differences between them (p ≤ 0.05). However, the formed dentin in the LCG-TDM group was significantly thicker, with layers of ordered odontoblasts identified to create a homogeneous tubular structure and numerous dentinal tubule lines suggesting a favourable trend towards dentin regeneration. TheraCal LC samples revealed a reasonably thick dentin bridge with moderate inflammation (50%) and LCG showed heavily fibrous tissue infiltrates with areas of degenerated pulp with no signs of hard tissue formation. CONCLUSIONS LCG-TDM, as an extracellular matrix-based material, has the potential to regenerate dentin and preserve pulp vitality, making it a viable natural alternative to silicate-based cements for healing in vivo dentin defects in direct pulp-capping procedures.

Abstract
The unnotified or undifferentiable early stages of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) progression are the prime reasons for late-stage detection and poor survival outcomes of oral cancer. This review summarizes the prior research and recent advancements on the influence of dysregulated non-coding RNA (ncRNA) on cell cycle and their employability as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers of oral cancer. The literature search was performed using the following keywords: 'serum/saliva non-coding RNAs' and 'serum/saliva non-coding RNAs and cell cycle', 'serum/saliva dysregulated ncRNAs and cell cycle', 'Cdk/CKI and ncRNAs', 'tissue ncRNAs' concerning 'oral cancer''. The compiled data focuses mainly on the diagnostic and prognostic significance of MicroRNAs (miRNAs), Circular RNAs (circRNAs), and Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) on oral cancer and all other cancers as well as subject-relevant articles published in languages other than English are beyond the scope of this review and excluded from the study. Moreover, articles focusing on DNA, protein, and metabolite markers are eliminated from the study. While there exist various potential biomolecules such as DNA, RNA, proteins, metabolites, and specific antigens representing predictive biomarkers in body fluids for oral cancer, this review completely focuses on non-coding RNAs restricted to saliva and blood, picking out a few of the reliable ones amongst the recent investigations based on the sophisticated techniques, cohort, and sensitivity as well as specificity, i.e., salivary miR-1307-5p, miR-3928, hsa_circ_0001874 and ENST00000412740, NR_131012, ENST00000588803, NR_038323, miR-21 in circulation. Thus, further studies are required to clinically confirm the usage of these non-invasive biomarkers in oral cancer.

Abstract
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) resulting from indiscriminate use of antibiotics in various fields of agriculture such as livestock farming, aquaculture, and croup fields become an emerging catatroph for the health (human, animal) and environment. Among those, poultry farming has been considered as one of the major contributors of multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria. Focusing this, the present research is designed for green synthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles (CuONPs) with the aim of their application in antibiotic-free poultry farming for curving use of antibiotics in that sector. For that, antibacterial CuONPs were nanoformulated to decrease the required doses of bulk CuSO4. We used a CuSO4·5H2O solution as a Cu2+ source and Citrus limon juice as a reducing agent as well as capping agent. Particle yield was initially confirmed by the λmax specific to CuONPs (295 nm) using UV-Vis spectroscopy. The presence of the Cu-O group during particle formation and crystallinity with the purity of yielded NPs was confirmed with Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffractometry. The round to spherical CuONPs of 92-155 nm average size was confirmed with atomic force, scanning electron, and transmission electron microscopy. The concentration of yielded NPs was calculated with the dynamic light scattering. The physical characterization tools indicated a maximum CuONPs yield with a 0.001 M ion source with 15% reducing agents after 12 h reduction. Antibacterial effectivity was tested against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and tetracycline- and beta-lactamase-resistant Escherichia coli, confirmed by PCR amplicon band at 163 bp, 643 bp, and 577 bp for the mecA, blaTEM-1 and tetA genes, respectively. An antibiogram assay of CuONPs showed a maximum zone of inhibition of 26 ± 0.5 mm for the synthesized particles. The minimum inhibitory and bactericidal concentrations were 1.6 μg ml-1 and 3.1 μg ml-1, respectively, for broad-spectrum application. Finally, the biocompatibility of CuONPs was determined by demonstrating a nonsignificant decrease of BHK-21 cell viability at <2 MIC doses for complying their future in vivo applicability.

BACKGROUND Given the favorable antimicrobial properties of zinc oxide (ZnONPs), standard silver (AgNPs), and imidazolium-based silver (Im-AgNPs) nanoparticles, this study aimed to evaluate their influence on the microhardness of root canal dentin. METHODS In this experimental study, 40 mandibular premolars were decoronated at the cementoenamel junction and longitudinally sectioned into halves to create 80 specimens. They were randomly allocated to 5 groups (n = 16) and irrigated with ZnONPs, AgNPs, Im-AgNPs, NaOCl, or normal saline (as the negative control) for 15 min. The Vickers Hardness Number (VHN) was measured on each root canal third before and after being soaked in irrigants. Statistical analysis was performed using paired t-test, one-way ANOVA, and post hoc Tukey's test (α = 0.05). RESULTS Im-AgNPs and ZnONPs irrigants improved the microhardness of root dentin, whereas, AgNPs and NaOCl decreased it. ZnONPs yielded the highest VHN at the coronal third (P˂0.001), while the Im-AgNPs provided the highest VHN at the middle and apical thirds (P˂0.001). The AgNPs group showed the lowest VHN at the apical third. CONCLUSIONS The irrigants containing Im-AgNPs and ZnONPs significantly enhanced the root dentin microhardness. However, the use of AgNPs resulted in decreased microhardness.

Abstract
This study analyse the type of release kinetic of specific monomers from dental resin composites containing various fluoride-doped calcium phosphates. The release behavior of urethane dimethacrylate (UDMA), ethoxylated bisphenol-A dimethacrylate (bis-EMA) and 1.6-hexanediol ethoxylate diacrylate (HEDA) was evaluated over a period of 35 days. Two tailored calcium phosphates doped with different concentrations of fluoride salts (VS10% and VS20%) were prepared and incorporated in the dimethacrylate matrix at various concentrations to generate a range of experimental composites. The release kinetics were characterized using mathematical models such as zero-order, first-order, Peppas and Higuchi models. The results showed that the first-order model best described the release kinetics. UDMA and HEDA exhibited significant differences in release compared to bis-EMA from day 1, while no significant differences were observed between UDMA and HEDA, except on day 35, when UDMA exhibited a higher release rate than HEDA. When comparing the release of each monomer, VS20-R20% had the highest total release percentage, with 3.10 ± 0.25%, whereas the composite VS10-R5% showed the lowest release percentage, with a total of 1.66 ± 0.08%. The release kinetics were influenced by the composition of the resin composites and the presence of calcium fluoride and sodium fluoride in the calcium phosphate played a role in the maximum amounts of monomer released. In conclusion, the release of monomers from the tested resin composites followed a first-order kinetic behaviour, with an initial rapid release that decreased over time. The composition of the resin monomers and the presence of fluoride salts influenced the release kinetics. The VS10-R5% and VS10-R10% resin composites exhibited the lowest total monomer release, suggesting its potential favourable composition with reduced monomer elution. These findings contribute to understanding the release behavior of dental resin composites and provide insights for the development of resin-based bioactive dental materials.
