Abstract
Respiratory diseases are extremely common conditions worldwide with a high social and economic impact. The aim of this systematic review was to summarize the scientific evidence on the efficacy of thermal inhalation treatments to manage the signs and symptoms of all type of upper and lower respiratory diseases. The review was conducted according to the PRISMA recommendations. The protocol was registered in the PROSPERO platform (ID: CRD42024510869). The bibliographic search was performed using PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science databases without time limits up to January 2nd 2025. All experimental and semi-experimental studies conducted on humans, published in Italian and English, aimed to evaluate the effects of thermal inhalation treatments in the treatment of respiratory diseases were considered eligible. The quality of the studies was assessed using the CLEAR NPT scale. Overall, 27 studies were included, related to chronic and chronic-recurrent upper and lower respiratory tract diseases. The results agree on beneficial effects of thermal waters use, with an improvement in the sensation of nasal obstruction, rhinorrhea, muco-ciliary transport time and lung function parameters. The therapeutic effects determined by thermal inhalation treatments is attributed to the composition and biochemical activity of the different waters, which lead, among other effects, to a regularization of the activity of the immune system. The results, although agreeing and encouraging, cannot be definitive due to the limitations of the studies included, especially their low quality and heterogeneity. Therefore, further clinical studies should be conducted using more appropriate methodologies, study designs and statistical analysis techniques.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In the cardio-respiratory rehabilitation field, thermal medicine represents an interesting complementary therapy approach. It can aid in complex medical contexts characterized by cardio-respiratory deficiency, functional limitation, and pain determined by the invasiveness of pharmacological and surgical treatments in combination with limited post-surgical physical activity. METHODS We investigated the evolution of cardio-respiratory and functional performances following the application of the Integrated Thermal Care (ITC) protocol in 11 mastectomized/quadrantectomized women (mean age of 54 years). The ITC protocol consisted of hydroponic treatments, steam inhalations treatment, hydrokinesitherapy, and manual treatments. Patients were assessed before and after a cycle of 1 h long treatment sessions, which were performed 5 days a week for 4 weeks. The outcomes were measured through the following scales and tests: Piper Fatigue Scale (PIPER), 6-Minute Walking Test (6MWT), Five Times Sit-to-Stand (5STS), Range of Arm Motion (ROM), Disability of the Arm-Shoulder-Hand Scale (DASH), and Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS). RESULTS We found appreciable improvements in cardio-respiratory efficiency and in pain perception exemplified by a reduction of PIPER, 5STS, DASH, and NPRS values together with an increase in 6MWT and ROM values. CONCLUSIONS We conclude that ITC is a promising rehabilitative tool to enhance cardio-respiratory and functional performance and reduce pain after mastectomy/quadrantectomy.

Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has left behind mental health issues like anxiety, depression, and sleep disorders among survivors. This study assessed the efficacy of spa therapy in enhancing psychological well-being and sleep quality in individuals with chronic arthro-rheumatic, respiratory, and otorhinolaryngological diseases, including COVID-19 recoverees. Our prospective observational study included 144 Caucasian subjects from three Italian spas who underwent a 2-week spa therapy cycle, involving balneotherapy and/or inhalation treatments. Symptoms were assessed with the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), psychological well-being with Depression Anxiety Stress Scales-21 items (DASS-21), and sleep quality with the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI). Significant reductions in VAS scores for arthro-rheumatic, respiratory, and otorhinolaryngological symptoms were observed after spa therapy, as well as for DASS-21 and ISI scores for sleep quality, transitioning to less severe insomnia categories. Females had more pronounced improvements in DASS-21 scores and sleep quality. Subjects with and without prior SARS-CoV-2 infection experienced significant reductions in anxiety, depression, and stress, with more pronounced improvements in those without prior infection. COVID-19 survivors also showed significant ISI score improvements. Spa therapy is a promising complementary treatment for improving mental health and sleep quality in chronic disease patients, including COVID-19 survivors.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a common condition that affects patients' quality of life. Standard treatments for CRS have known side effects and variable efficacy rates. Thus, complementary and integrative (CIM) treatments for CRS such as crenotherapy, which utilizes high mineral content water or vapor as an inhalation therapy, are of continued interest. OBJECTIVES To summarize and evaluate the current research investigating crenotherapy's therapeutic potential and clinical outcomes for the treatment of CRS. STUDY DESIGN Systematic review and qualitative analysis. METHODS A systematic review was performed, with a comprehensive search strategy applied to 6 databases from inception to March 2021: CINAHL, Cochrane, Embase, PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. Studies with at least 10 patients, which investigated crenotherapy as the sole or adjunctive treatment for CRS in humans were included. RESULTS In total, 10 articles out of 756 were included. Of these, 6 were randomized controlled trials. The remaining four articles were non-randomized prospective cohort studies. Six studies assessed clinical symptoms in response to crenotherapy, and there were unanimous improvements in Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Sino-Nasal Outcome Test-20 (SNOT-20), and other quality of life metrics. The studies that assessed inflammatory markers, cytology, or other measures showed significant improvement in neutrophil count, spores, ciliary motility, IgE, and manometry. Minimal to no adverse events were reported across all 10 studies. CONCLUSION There is limited data to support crenotherapy's effectiveness in treating patients with CRS. However, published studies suggest that for certain patients crenotherapy can both improve CRS symptoms and objective measures of nasociliary function with minimal side effects. Findings must be interpreted with caution due to study heterogeneity, inconsistent use of standard CRS definitions and outcomes measures, as well as other study design flaws. Given these results, as well as a growing interest in CIM, crenotherapy treatments for CRS deserve further investigation.

Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Inhalations with thermal waters are an old therapeutic method used in the therapy of respiratory diseases as a treatment of choice showing a long-lasting outcome with no side effects. Paradoxically, there is little well-established research on their mechanisms of action. AIM OF THE STUDY The aim of this paper is therefore to summarize the influence of inhalatory treatment with thermal waters on the main symptoms and features of respiratory disorders including allergy-like symptoms, inflammation, oxidant-anti-oxidant balance, cellular influx, disturbed mucus secretions, recurrent infections, pulmonary and nasal function and quality of life. A short history of inhalations is also presented. MATERIALS AND METHODS The present paper is a sum-up of research articles on the use of inhalations with thermal waters in respiratory disorders. RESULTS According to the herein presented literature, the use of thermal water inhalations is beneficial for almost all manifestations of respiratory diseases. The mode of their action remains still unclear; however, it seems that the most important one relies on the restoration of proper defense mechanisms of the organism. CONCLUSIONS Inhalations with thermal waters alleviate symptoms of respiratory diseases. They also improve the quality of life of the patients and seem to be a good add-on therapy in the treatment of disorders of the respiratory system.

Abstract
Recurrent respiratory infections (RRIs) are a common clinical condition in children, in fact about 25% of children under 1 year and 6% of children during the first 6 years of life have RRIs. In most cases, infections occur with mild clinical manifestations and the frequency of episodes tends to decrease over time with a complete resolution by 12 years of age. However, RRIs significantly reduce child and family quality of life and lead to significant medical and social costs.Despite the importance of this condition, there is currently no agreed definition of the term RRIs in the literature, especially concerning the frequency and type of infectious episodes to be considered. The aim of this consensus document is to propose an updated definition and provide recommendations with the intent of guiding the physician in the complex process of diagnosis, management and prevention of RRIs.

Abstract
The effects of low-dose macrolide (LDM) therapy on pediatric chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) patients are unknown. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of LDM for treating pediatric refractory CRS. A retrospective study was conducted by a medical chart review. Pediatric CRS patients (age <15 years) who received LDM after standard medical treatments failure between 2013 and 2019 were identified. The LDM treatments with any macrolide agents, doses, and regimens were included. Any co-interventions were allowed. Duration of the LDM therapy was ≥6 weeks. Outcomes were the total nasal symptoms by the visual analogue scale (TNS), presence of individual symptoms, physician-assessment nasal discharge and adverse events. Six patients (67% male, mean age 7±3.4 years) were assessed. All patients had failed to intranasal steroids and nasal saline irrigation but continued. The addition of LDM significantly improved TNS (mean difference ± standard deviation 5.83 ± 1.33; 95% confidence interval 4.44-7.23, p< 0.001). At the end of treatment, the numbers of patients with individual symptoms were decreased: nasal obstruction (100%-67%), rhinorrhea (83%-50%), hyposmia (50%-0%), cough (100%-33%), and physician-assessment thick mucoid discharge (33%-0%). No patients had facial pain. One patient reported mild tolerable nausea. Preliminary findings of this study showed some beneficial effects of LDM added to intranasal steroids and nasal saline irrigation in pediatric CRS after standard treatments failure. The beneficial effects included the improvements of the TNS and individual nasal symptoms and decrease in thick mucoid discharge.

Abstract
Inhalations with brine solutions are old but underestimated add-ons to pharmacological treatments of inflammatory lung diseases. Although widely used, not all features underlying their action on the respiratory system have been explored. The aim of the present study was to elucidate the mechanism of the beneficial action of inhalations of brine solution from the 'Wieliczka' Salt Mine, a Polish health resort, in a murine model of non-atopic asthma. Asthma was induced in BALB/c mice by skin sensitization with dinitrofluorobenzene followed by an intratracheal challenge of cognate hapten. All animals underwent 12 inhalation sessions with brine solution, pure water or physiological saline. Control mice were not inhaled. We found that brine inhalations reduced, as compared to non-inhaled mice, the typical asthma-related symptoms, like airway hyperreactivity (AHR), the infiltration of pro-inflammatory cells into the bronchial tree, and the inflammation of the airways at the level of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1α, IL-1β and IL-6. The level of the anti-inflammatory IL-10 was elevated in brine-inhaled mice. Inhalations with pure water increased AHR, whereas saline had no influence, either on AHR or cytokine concentrations. These observations indicate that inhalations with a brine solution from the 'Wieliczka' Salt Mine diminish the asthma-related symptoms, mostly by reducing the inflammatory status and by decreasing AHR.

Abstract
Based on their chemical composition, salus per aquam (spa) mineral waters (or medical mineral waters) can be classified as sulphurous, sulphate, bicarbonate etc. Sulphate mineral waters where the predominant element is sulphate anion SO42−, are frequently used in clinical therapy. In this review, we describe and analyze the current scientific knowledge concerning the therapeutic effect of sulphate mineral waters in the treatment of several disorders. Moreover, we underline how important is to integrate spa treatments with other therapeutic approaches to meet the various needs that can arise during a specific pathological state. Now, there is no systematic Review on Sulphate mineral waters in literature. The Review focuses on the importance of spa treatment as complementary therapy. The Review highlights the efficacy and tolerability of the spa in several disorders.

Abstract
Background Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is frequently used in the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) in developed countries. With a plethora of CAM therapies available, their effectiveness and safety are poorly understood in the context of CRS. Objectives This article aims to critically appraise the evidence for CAM use in CRS through a systematic review of current literature that investigate the effects of CAM on symptoms and clinical status of adults with CRS. Study Design Systematic review and qualitative analysis. Review Methods A comprehensive systematic review of the literature was conducted by the authors using 5 databases from inception to July 2017: CINAHL, Cochrane, Embase, PubMed, and SCOPUS. Inclusive medical subject headings and keywords consisted of, but were not limited to, sinusitis and complementary therapies, naturopathy, or traditional Chinese medicine. PRISMA guideline was followed. Using templates by Cochrane Public Health Group and Newcastle-Ottawa Scale, each author extracted data, assessed bias, and computed minimal clinically important difference. Any conflicts were resolved through discussion. Results In total, 7 of 7141 articles from 1995 to 2016 were included. Three randomized controlled trials and 4 observational studies were organized into 4 categories of CAM: naturopathy, Chinese medicine, homeopathy, and others. Limited evidence supported the use of Pimpinella anisum and crenotherapy for CRS. Data available on Chinese medicine, homeopathy, and liposomal therapy in CRS were inconclusive due to inherent flaws in the studies. Conclusion Overall, there is very limited evidence to support the use of CAM in the treatment of CRS. No significant adverse effects have been found. Given its widespread use, more rigorous data from high-quality research are needed before it can be routinely recommended.

Abstract
Background Chronic rhinitis, pharyngitis and sinusitis are common health problems with a significant impact on public health, and are suspected to be influenced by ageing factors. Nasal inhalation with thermal water may be used to reduce symptoms, inflammation and drug intake. A pre-post clinical study was conducted in 183 consecutive adult and elderly patients with chronic rhinitis, pharyngitis or sinusitis, to evaluate whether thermal water nasal inhalations could improve their symptoms, clinical signs and rhinomanometry measurements, and influence inflammatory biomarkers levels in nasal epithelial cells. Results Participants profile revealed that they were aged on average (mean age and SD 60.6 ± 15.2 years, median 65, range 20–86, 86 aged ≤ 65 years (47%), 96 aged > 65 years (53%)) and extremely concerned about wellbeing. Older age was associated with better compliance to inhalation treatment. Total symptom and clinical evaluation scores were significantly ameliorated after treatment (p < 0.001), with no substantial difference according to age, while rhinomanometry results were inconsistent. Persistence of symptom improvement was confirmed at phone follow up 1 year later (n = 74). The training set of 48 inflammatory genes (40 patients) revealed a strong increase of CXCR4 gene expression after nasal inhalations, confirmed both in the validation set (143 patients; 1.2 ± 0.68 vs 3.3 ± 1.2; p < 0.0001) and by evaluation of CXCR4 protein expression (40 patients; 1.0 ± 0.39 vs 2.6 ± 0.66; p < 0.0001). CXCR4 expression was consistently changed in patients with rhinitis, pharyngitis or sinusitis. The increase was smaller in current smokers compared to non-smokers. Results were substantially unchanged when comparing aged subjects (≥ 65 years) or the eldest quartile (≥ 71 years) to the others. Other genes showed weaker variations (e.g. FLT1 was reduced only in patients with sinusitis). Conclusions These results confirm the clinical impact of thermal water nasal inhalations on upper respiratory diseases both in adults and elders, and emphasize the role of genes activating tissue repair and inflammatory pathways. Future studies should evaluate CXCR4 as possible therapeutic target or response predictor in patients with chronic rhinitis, pharyngitis or sinusitis. Abstract
Rhinitis is a multifactorial disease characterized by sneezing, rhinorrhea, postnasal drip, and nasal congestion. This condition affects 10% to 40% of the population and is responsible for billions of spent health care dollars and impairment in quality of life for those affected. Currently available medical and vaccine therapies are effective for a large segment of this population; however, a subset of patients still has difficult-to-control rhinitis. This article reviews the current progress being made in novel drug and vaccine development and delves into alternative medical, surgical, and homeopathic strategies that may be promising adjunctive treatments for the difficult-to-treat rhinitis patient.

Abstract
Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) determines irreversible alterations of the nasal mucosa with consequent impairment of ciliary movements and, therefore, mucociliary clearance (MCC). People of all ages can be affected by CRS but the elderly are subjects at the highest risk. CRS in the elderly with an age-related physiological impairment of nasal respiratory function, often accompanied by other chronic diseases, requires additional therapies to be added to the numerous daily medications. Since the currently available therapies for CRS include the use of drugs that can have adverse effects and contraindications, crenotherapy could represent a therapeutic option. Indeed, because the adverse effects and contraindications of crenotherapy are scarce, it can be safely used in elderly patients with comorbidities. The aim of this study is to evaluate the nasal cytological assessment after crenotherapy in elderly subjects with CRS. Two groups, comprising a total of 84 elderly subjects with CRS, were treated with crenotherapy with sodium chloride sulphate hyperthermal water rich in mineral salts (group I, n=49) and saline solution (group II n=35). Cytological assessment for both groups took place at baseline (T0) and 1 month after treatment (T30). At T30 the nasal cytological assessment showed statistically significant improvements in the ciliary motility and in the count of neutrophils and spores in group I, but not in group II. Conversely, there were no significant differences in the count of eosinophils, mast cells, bacteria and biofilm in either group. Our data for the first time focused on the role of crenotherapy in the improvement of cytological assessment of CRS in the elderly.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effectiveness of crenotherapy on the olfactory performance of elderly patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). STUDY DESIGN A longitudinal case-control study of a cohort of elderly patients affected by CRS and olfactory dysfunction assessed with the Sniffin' Sticks (Burghart Medical Technology, Wedel, Germany) (SS) olfactory test. METHODS One hundred and thirty-seven elderly subjects with CRS were divided into two groups. The investigational arm (n = 69) underwent crenotherapy with hyperthermal water, rich in mineral salts, and the control group (n = 68) underwent NaCl 0.9% both for 12 days. At baseline and at 1 and 6 months after treatment, both groups underwent ear nose and throat assessment and SS. Self-report questionnaires were administered at baseline to evaluate the patients' own olfactory response, and after treatment to evaluate their degree tolerability. Olfactory performance was then evaluated in elderly subjects with hyposmia without CRS (n = 40) and in younger subjects with both hyposmia and CRS (n = 40). RESULTS No adverse reactions were reported after crenotherapy. The SS total score showed that crenotherapy induced a statistically significant improvement in the olfactory function of both the elderly and the younger subjects with hyposmia and CRS. By contrast, no improvement was observed in the control arm and in the elderly with hyposmia without CRS. All subjects showed a good degree of tolerability. CONCLUSIONS We demonstrated that crenotherapy effectively improves olfactory function in elderly patients with CRS. Finally, our study suggests that crenotherapy represents a safe therapeutic strategy for the treatment of CRS and olfactory dysfunction in the elderly.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Airway secretions contain endogenous antimicrobial factors (AMFs) that contribute to the innate host defense of the respiratory tract. Antibacterial peptides as well as host-derived lipids including cholesteryl esters have been detected in maxillary lavage fluid. Sterol O-acyltransferase 1 (SOAT1) is a key enzyme in cholesteryl ester production. The purpose of this study is to determine if such intrinsic microbicidal molecules are acutely expressed within sinus tissue and to compare levels of expression between patients with and without chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). METHODS Sinus tissue was obtained from subjects with (24) and without (9) a history of CRS. Six CRS patients had nasal polyposis (CRSwNP). Immunofluorescence staining for human neutrophil peptide (HNP) was done as a marker for inflammation. Real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) following RNA extraction was used to quantify the expression of SOAT-1, the epithelial beta-defensins (HBD2 and HBD3), and the cathelicidin LL37 with ribosomal protein, large, P0 (RPLP0) as the housekeeping gene. RESULTS Immunofluorescence showed significant increase in HNP staining in CRS patients without nasal polyposis (CRSsNP) vs non-CRS specimens (p = 0.010), in agreement with clinical inflammation status. SOAT1 messenger RNA (mRNA) expression was also upregulated in CRSsNP compared to non-CRS (p = 0.041) and CRSwNP (p = 0.005) patients, whereas increases for HBD2 and HBD3 were less prominent. LL37 was either absent or expressed at very low levels in all samples. CONCLUSION Increased biosynthesis of SOAT1, a key enzyme for antimicrobial cholesteryl ester production, was observed in the sinus tissue of CRSsNP patients but not in CRSwNP patients. This further supports the novel concept of lipid-mediated innate mucosal defense and delineates CRS with and without nasal polyposis as distinct subtypes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Chronic sinonasal disease is common in asthmatic patients and associated with poor asthma control; however, there are no long-term trials addressing whether chronic treatment of sinonasal disease improves asthma control. OBJECTIVE We sought to determine whether treatment of chronic sinonasal disease with nasal corticosteroids improves asthma control, as measured by the Childhood Asthma Control Test and Asthma Control Test in children and adults, respectively. METHODS A 24-week multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind trial of placebo versus nasal mometasone in adults and children with inadequately controlled asthma was performed. Treatments were randomly assigned, with concealment of allocation. RESULTS Two hundred thirty-seven adults and 151 children were randomized to nasal mometasone versus placebo, and 319 participants completed the study. There was no difference in the Childhood Asthma Control Test score (difference in change with mometasone - change with placebo [ΔM - ΔP], -0.38; 95% CI, -2.19 to 1.44; P = .68; age 6-11 years) or the Asthma Control Test score (ΔM - ΔP, 0.51; 95% CI, -0.46 to 1.48; P = .30; age ≥12 years) in those assigned to mometasone versus placebo. In children and adolescents (age 6-17 years) there was no difference in asthma or sinus symptoms but a decrease in episodes of poorly controlled asthma defined by a decrease in peak flow. In adults there was a small difference in asthma symptoms measured by using the Asthma Symptom Utility Index (ΔM - ΔP, 0.06; 95% CI, 0.01 to 0.11; P < .01) and in nasal symptoms (sinus symptom score ΔM - ΔP, -3.82; 95% CI, -7.19 to -0.45; P = .03) but no difference in asthma quality of life, lung function, or episodes of poorly controlled asthma in adults assigned to mometasone versus placebo. CONCLUSIONS Treatment of chronic sinonasal disease with nasal corticosteroids for 24 weeks does not improve asthma control. Treatment of sinonasal disease in asthmatic patients should be determined by the need to treat sinonasal disease rather than to improve asthma control.

Abstract
Pediatric chronic rhinosinusitis is a multifactorial inflammatory and infectious disorder. It likely reflects a dysfunction at the site of the interaction between host and environmental factors in the nose and sinuses. Our limited understanding of this common childhood disease makes it difficult to diagnose and to treat effectively. This review focuses on the scope of manifestations particular to the pediatric form of the disease, diagnostic challenges, and epidemiologic data. The normal development of sinuses in children, the role of inflammation, and biofilm and immune responses in the pathophysiology of chronic rhinosinusitis in pediatric patients are discussed. Predisposing and comorbid factors contributing to this disorder or associated with it are described. The current investigational and therapeutic approaches are presented, including recommendations for imaging and medical and surgical therapy. Various aspects of the disease that are still subject of controversy are underscored. Advice for what constitutes a reason to involve a multidisciplinary collaboration in the care of a child with chronic rhinosinusitis is provided.

Abstract
Background. Thermal water inhalations and irrigations have a long tradition in the treatment of airway diseases. Currently there exists no systematic review or meta-analysis on the effectiveness of thermal water treatment in upper respiratory tract diseases. Methods. A systematic search in the databases of MEDLINE, EMBASE, CENTRAL, ISI Web of Science, and MedPilot was accomplished. Results. Eight evaluable outcome parameters from 13 prospective clinical studies were identified for 840 patients. Mucociliary clearance time improves significantly (P < 0.01) for the pooled thermal water subgroup and the sulphurous subgroup after 2 weeks (-6.69/minutes) and after 90 days (-8.33/minutes), not for isotonic sodium chloride solution (ISCS). Nasal resistance improved significantly after 2 weeks (Radon, ISCS, and placebo), after 30 days (sulphur and ISCS), and after 90 days (sulphur). Nasal flow improved significantly with the pooled thermal water, radon alone, and ISCS subgroups. For the IgE parameter only sulphurous thermal water (P < 0.01) and ISCS (P > 0.01) were analyzable. Adverse events of minor character were only reported for sulphurous treatment (19/370). Conclusion. Thermal water applications with radon or sulphur can be recommended as additional nonpharmacological treatment in upper airway diseases. Also in comparison to isotonic saline solution it shows significant improvements and should be investigated further.

Abstract
Recurrent respiratory infections (RRI) represent a social problem for both the pharmaco-economic impact and the burden on the family. Thermal water is popularly well accepted. However, there is no scientific evidence of its preventive activity on recurrent respiratory tract infections (RRI). Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of Agnano thermal water nasal irrigation on RRI prevention in children.A total of 107 children (70 males, mean age 4.5 plus minus1.2 years) with RRI were enrolled in the study. At baseline, children were randomly assigned to the treatment with: A) inhaled crenotherapy with salso-sulphide water or B) isotonic saline (NaCl 0.9 percent). Inhaled therapy was performed using nasal washing by Rino-jet (ASEMA srl, Milan, Italy) b.i.d. for 12 days. Nasal washing lasted 2 minutes per nostril. Immediately before washing, children inhaled 1 l of water by stream inhalation per 2 minutes. Crenotherapy was capable of significantly reducing: the number of respiratory infections, nasal symptoms, neutrophil and bacteria count, turbinate and adenoidal hypertrophy, presence of biofilm, and blockage of ostiomeatal complex (OCM). In conclusion, this study provides the first evidence that Agnano crenotherapy may be capable of preventing RRI in children as it exerts some positive effects, such as reduction of nasal obstruction, OCM blockage, biofilm, and inflammatory events.
