Abstract
OBJECTIVE We aimed to investigate the value of quantitative parameters derived from dynamic contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (DCE-US) and a combination of these quantitative parameters with the LR-M classification criteria in distinguishing hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) nodules and non-HCC malignancies. METHODS HCC and non-HCC malignant nodules were grouped using pathologic results, and each nodule was classified using CEUS LI-RADS 2017. Quantitative CEUS analysis of each nodule was performed using VueBox, and quantitative parameters were compared between the HCC and non-HCC groups. The diagnostic efficacy of the LR-5 category for HCC was analyzed using the LR-M classification criteria along with time-related quantitative parameters. RESULTS Of the 190 malignant liver nodules, 137 and 53 were HCCs and non-HCC malignancies, respectively. The median values of quantitative parameters RT (rise time), TTP (time to peak), mTTl (mean transit time local), and FT (fall time) in the non-HCC malignant group were lower than those in the HCC group, with p < 0.05. There was a statistically significant difference in WiAUC (wash-in area under the curve), WoAUC (wash-out area under the curve), WiWoAUC (wash-in and wash-out area under the curve), and WoR (wash-out rate) values between HCC and non-HCC malignant groups, with p < 0.05. Using LR-M washout time <60 s and FT ≤21.2 s as the new diagnostic standard, the LR-5 category showed a sensitivity of 83.9%, specificity of 96.2%, and positive predictive value of 98.3% for HCC diagnosis. CONCLUSION DCE-US can facilitate the distinction of HCCs and non-HCC malignancies. Non-HCC malignancies present with earlier peak enhancement and more rapid and marked washout than HCC nodules. The combination of the LR-M classification criteria and FT ≤21.2 s can significantly improve the diagnostic sensitivity of the LR-5 category for HCC.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study is to describe a comprehensive contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) imaging protocol and analysis method to implement CEUS LI-RADS (Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System) in a quantifiable manner. The methods that are validated with a prospective single-center study aim to simplify CEUS LI-RADS evaluation, remove observer bias, and potentially improve the sensitivity of CEUS LI-RADS. MATERIALS AND METHODS This prospective single-center study enrolled patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (April 2021-June 2022; N = 31; mean age ± SD, 67 ± 6 years; 24 men/7 women). For each patient, at least 2 CEUS loops spanning over 5 minutes were collected for different lesion scan planes using an articulated arm to hold the transducer. Automatic respiratory gating and motion compensation algorithms removed errors due to breathing motion. The long axis of the lesion was measured in the contrast and fundamental images to capture nodule size. Parametric processing of time-intensity curve analysis on linearized data provided quantifiable information of the wash-in and washout dynamics via rise time ( RT ) and degree of washout ( DW ) parameters extracted from the time-intensity curve, respectively. A Welch t test was performed between lesion and parenchyma RT for each lesion to confirm statistically significant differences. P values for bootstrapped 95% confidence intervals of the relative degree of washout ( rDW ), ratio of DW between the lesion and surrounding parenchyma, were computed to quantify lesion washout. Coefficient of variation (COV) of RT , DW , and rDW was calculated for each patient between injections for both the lesion and surrounding parenchyma to gauge reproducibility of these metrics. Spearman rank correlation tests were performed among size, RT , DW , and rDW values to evaluate statistical dependence between the variables. RESULTS The mean ± SD lesion diameter was 23 ± 8 mm. The RT for all lesions, capturing arterial phase hyperenhancement, was shorter than that of surrounding liver parenchyma ( P < 0.05). All lesions also demonstrated significant ( P < 0.05) but variable levels of washout at both 2-minute and 5-minute time points, quantified in rDW . The COV of RT for the lesion and surrounding parenchyma were both 11%, and the COV of DW and rDW at 2 and 5 minutes ranged from 22% to 31%. Statistically significant relationships between lesion and parenchyma RT and between lesion RT and lesion DW at the 2- and 5-minute time points were found ( P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS The imaging protocol and analysis method presented provide robust, quantitative metrics that describe the dynamic vascular patterns of LI-RADS 5 lesions classified as hepatocellular carcinomas. The RT of the bolus transit quantifies the arterial phase hyperenhancement, and the DW and rDW parameters quantify the washout from linearized CEUS intensity data. This unique methodology is able to implement the CEUS-LIRADS scheme in a quantifiable manner for the first time and remove its existing issues of currently being qualitative and suffering from subjective evaluations.

Abstract
PURPOSE To investigate and compare the ultrasonic features of hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (HEHE) and other common hepatic malignancies, such as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) and hepatic metastatic tumor (HMT). METHODS A total of 37 patients with pathologically proven HEHE, 37 HCC cases, 37 ICC cases, and 37 HMT cases were enrolled from single hospital. The clinical characteristics and ultrasonic features of all cases were summarized and statistically analyzed. RESULTS There were significant differences in sex and age between the HEHE group and other three groups (P < 0.001). The probability of HEHE infection with hepatitis B virus was lower than that of HCC and ICC groups (P < 0.05). The probability of elevated serum tumor markers in HEHE was significantly lower than that in the other three groups (P < 0.05). On conventional ultrasound (CUS), the probability of multiple lesions in HEHE was significantly higher than that in the other three groups (P < 0.05). On contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS), the time to wash out in HEHE was significantly shorter than that of the other three groups (P < 0.001). The proportion of synchronous or slow enhancement in HEHE was significantly higher than that of the other three groups (P < 0.001). The proportion of HEHE with iso- or hypo-enhancement was significantly higher than in HCC and HMT groups (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION HEHE mainly performed multiple hypoechoic lesions on CUS and displayed greater odds of synchronous enhancement in arterial phase, iso- or hypo-enhancement in peak time and wash out more quickly on CEUS, which allowed for differentiation from other common malignant tumors.

Abstract
We aimed to investigate the diagnostic utility of quantitative parameters of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) for benign and malignant liver lesions in pediatric patients. This was a single-center retrospective analysis of children with liver lesions who underwent CEUS at our hospital between July 2019 and February 2023. The CEUS perfusion patterns for all lesions were qualitatively analyzed using histopathology, contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging, contrast-enhanced computed tomography, or long-term clinical follow-up as reference standards. The CEUS images were quantitatively analyzed using SonoLiver® software (TomTec Imaging Systems, Munich, Germany) to obtain data regarding quantitative parameters and dynamic vascular pattern (DVP) parametric images, including rise time (RT), time to peak (TTP), mean transit time (mTT), and maximum intensity (IMAX). Statistical analysis was carried out using Student's t-test and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis to evaluate the diagnostic value of quantitative parameters. A total of 53 pediatric cases were included in this study, and 88.57% (31/35) of malignant lesions exhibited hyper-enhancement with rapid washout patterns; the same proportion of DVP parametric images exhibited washout patterns. Conversely, 94.44% (17/18) of benign lesions showed hyper-enhancement with slow washout patterns, and the same proportion of DVP parametric images showed no-washout patterns. RT, TTP, and mTT were significantly shorter in the malignant group than in the benign group (p < 0.05), while IMAX showed no significant difference (p > 0.05). ROC analysis indicated that mTT < 113.34 had the highest diagnostic value, with an area under the curve of 0.82. CEUS quantitative analysis had an accuracy of 98.11%, while qualitative analysis had an accuracy of 92.45%, with no statistically significant difference (p > 0.05). Quantitative analysis of CEUS provides valuable assistance in differentiating benign and malignant liver lesions in children. Among all quantitative parameters, mTT holds promise as a potentially valuable tool for identifying liver tumors.

Abstract
A correct differentiation between hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and intracellular cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is essential for clinical management and prognostic prediction. However, non-invasive differential diagnosis between HCC and ICC remains highly challenging. Dynamic contrast-enhanced ultrasound (D-CEUS) with standardized software is a valuable tool in the diagnostic approach to focal liver lesions and could improve accuracy in the evaluation of tumor perfusion. Moreover, the measurement of tissue stiffness could add more information concerning tumoral environment. To explore the diagnostic performance of multiparametric ultrasound (MP-US) in differentiating ICC from HCC. Our secondary aim was to develop an US score for distinguishing ICC and HCC. Between January 2021 and September 2022 consecutive patients with histologically confirmed HCC and ICC were enrolled in this prospective monocentric study. A complete US evaluation including B mode, D-CEUS and shear wave elastography (SWE) was performed in all patients and the corresponding features were compared between the tumor entities. For better inter-individual comparability, the blood volume-related D-CEUS parameters were analyzed as a ratio between lesions and surrounding liver parenchyma. Univariate and multivariate regression analysis was performed to select the most useful independent variables for the differential diagnosis between HCC and ICC and to establish an US score for non-invasive diagnosis. Finally, the diagnostic performance of the score was evaluated by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. A total of 82 patients (mean age ± SD, 68 ± 11 years, 55 men) were enrolled, including 44 ICC and 38 HCC. No statistically significant differences in basal US features were found between HCC and ICC. Concerning D-CEUS, blood volume parameters (peak intensity, PE; area under the curve, AUC; and wash-in rate, WiR) showed significantly higher values in the HCC group, but PE was the only independent feature associated with HCC diagnosis at multivariate analysis (p = 0.02). The other two independent predictors of histological diagnosis were liver cirrhosis (p < 0.01) and SWE (p = 0.01). A score based on those variables was highly accurate for the differential diagnosis of primary liver tumors, with an area under the ROC curve of 0.836 and the optimal cut-off values of 0.81 and 0.20 to rule in or rule out ICC respectively. MP-US seems to be a useful tool for non-invasive discrimination between ICC and HCC and could prevent the need for liver biopsy at least in a subgroup of patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the value of dynamic contrast-enhanced ultrasound (DCE-US) for the Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (LI-RADS). METHODS We included 220 liver nodules at high risk for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) from January 2019 to October 2021. Visual interpretation and DCE-US-based quantitative categories using VueBox® software were compared for consistency, nodule enhancement intensity, and washout onset following the contrast-enhanced ultrasound LI-RADS. Taking the cut-off value of the ROC curve on washout onset as the time criterion of early washout of LR-M nodules, analyzed the diagnostic performance of LR-5 for HCC and compared it to that of washout onset within 60 s. RESULTS The LI-RADS visual and DCE-US interpretation results showed good consistency (Kappa = 0.730), but differed significantly in determining the LR-5 washout onset (91.2 ± 30.2 vs. 82.0 ± 32.8 s, P = 0.020) and detecting early washout (<60 s) in 196 nodules (P = 0.047). Distinguishing HCC from non-HCC malignancies had: area under the ROC curve, 0.85 (95 % confidence interval, 0.8-0.9); Youden index, 0.69; cut-off value, 48 s; sensitivity, 74.4 %; specificity, 95.0 %. When LR-M diagnosis used washout onset within 48 s, LR-5 diagnosis had sensitivity, 72.8 %; specificity, 95.0 %; positive predictive value, 98.5 %; showing a higher sensitivity than with washout onset in 60 s (62.2 %; P = 0.033). CONCLUSION DCE-US and visual interpretations showed high consistency in LI-RADS categories but differed in assessing the washout time. According to the DCE-US interpretation, the diagnostic performance of LR-5 could be improved using washout onset of 48 s for LR-M.

Abstract
Dynamic contrast-enhanced ultrasound (DCE-US) enables quantification of tumor perfusion. VueBox is a platform independent external software using DICOM cine loops which objectively provides various DCE-US parameters of tumor vascularity. This review summaries its use for diagnosis and treatment monitoring of liver tumors. The existing literature provides evidence on the successful application of Vuebox based DCE-US for characterization and differential diagnosis of focal liver lesions, as well as on its use for monitoring of local ablative therapies and of modern systemic treatment in oncology.

Abstract
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a unique cancer entity that can be noninvasively diagnosed using imaging modalities without pathologic confirmation. In 2018, several major guidelines for HCC were updated to include hepatobiliary contrast agent magnetic resonance imaging (HBA-MRI) and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) as major imaging modalities for HCC diagnosis. HBA-MRI enables the achievement of high sensitivity in HCC detection using the hepatobiliary phase (HBP). CEUS is another imaging modality with real-time imaging capability, and it is reported to be useful as a second-line modality to increase sensitivity without losing specificity for HCC diagnosis. However, until now, there is an unsolved discrepancy among guidelines on whether to accept “HBP hypointensity” as a definite diagnostic criterion for HCC or include CEUS in the diagnostic algorithm for HCC diagnosis. Furthermore, there is variability in terminology and inconsistencies in the definition of imaging findings among guidelines; therefore, there is an unmet need for the development of a standardized lexicon. In this article, we review the performance and limitations of HBA-MRI and CEUS after guideline updates in 2018 and briefly introduce some future aspects of imaging-based HCC diagnosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To investigate the accuracy of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography, CT-enhancement and MRI in the diagnosis of liver-occupying lesions. METHODS 176 patients with suspected liver lesions in our hospital were retrospectively studied from July 2014 to July 2016. All of the 176 patients were diagnosed by contrast-enhanced ultrasonography, enhanced CT and MRI, and the pathological examination was performed. The results of pathological examination were regarded as the results of the diagnosis. The diagnostic accuracywas then compared among contrast-enhanced ultrasound, enhanced CT and MRI of these patients. RESULTS The results of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography showed that 164 of the 176 patients had liver-occupying lesions, and the accuracy of the diagnosis was 95.35%, which was significantly higher than that of CT enhancement and MRI (80.23% 84.30%). The accuracy of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography, in the diagnosis of primary liver cancer was significantly higher than that of CT enhancement and MRI (P < 0.05), and the difference was significant difference (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS The examination of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography is relatively simple, and the patients can get duplicateexamination, so we should choose the contrast-enhanced ultrasonography as the preferred method of diagnosis in liver mass, especially primary liver cancer.

Abstract
Clinical utility of ancillary features (AFs) in contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (LI-RADS®) is yet to be established. In this study, we assessed the diagnostic yield of CEUS LI-RADS and AFs in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We retrospectively included patients with risk factors for HCC and newly diagnosed focal liver lesions (FLL). All lesions have been categorized according to the CEUS LI-RADS v2017 by an experienced sonographer blinded to clinical data and to the final diagnosis. From a total of 143 patients with 191 FLL, AFs favoring HCC were observed in 19.8% cases as hypoechoic rim and in 16.7% cases as nodule-in nodule architecture. From the total of 141 HCC cases, 83.6% were correctly classified: 57.4%- LR-5 and 26.2%- LR-4. In 9.21% cases, CEUS indicated LR-M; 2.12% cases- LR-3. The LR-5 category was 96.2% predictive (PPV) of HCC. LR-5 had 60.4% sensitivity and 93.6% specificity. PPV for primitive malignancy (LR-4 + LR-5) was 95.7%, with 88% sensitivity, 89.3% specificity and 88.4% accuracy for HCC. LR-4 category had 94.8% PPV and 26.2% sensitivity. CEUS LR4 + LR5 had 81,8% sensitivity for HCCs over 2 cm and 78.57% sensitivity for smaller HCCs. CEUS LR-5 remains an excellent diagnostic tool for HCC, despite the size of the lesion. The use of AFs might improve the overarching goal of LR-5 + LR-4 diagnosis of high specificity for HCC and exclusion of non-HCC malignancy.

Abstract
To analyze the correlation between quantitative contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) parameters and angiogenesis in primary small hepatocellular carcinoma (sHCC) with varying degrees of differentiation.According to varying degrees of differentiation, a total of 90 primary sHCC patients admitted to our hospital from July 2018 to January 2020 were selected and divided into poorly differentiated group (24 cases), moderately differentiated group (31 cases), and highly differentiated group (35 cases). All patients received real-time CEUS before surgery. The tumor diameter, microvascular morphology, grading of color blood flow, contrast-enhanced performance in different phases, quantitative CEUS parameters, expression of angiogenesis-related genes, and microvessel density (MVD) were compared among the 3 groups. The correlation between quantitative parameters of CEUS and angiogenesis indexes was analyzed by Spearman rank correlation analysis.Spearman rank correlation analysis showed that vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), and angiopoietin-2 (Ang-2) expression and MVD were negatively correlated with the time to peak (TTP), wash-out time, and peak accelerating time (PAT) (r < 0, P < .05), and were positively correlated with enhancing slope rate (ESR) and peak intensity increasing rate (PIIR) (r > 0, P < .05).CEUS is able to identify varying degrees of differentiation in primary sHCC, and the quantitative CEUS parameters are closely related to angiogenesis.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Focal nodular hyperplasia, a benign liver tumour, is the second most common focal benign liver lesion, after a cavernous haemangioma. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound is used increasingly for the diagnostic work up and follow-up of focal liver lesions in adults, but is particularly valuable in the paediatric population, with the ability to reduce radiation and the nephrotoxic contrast agents used in computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging. Confident recognition of focal nodular hyperplasia is important; it is benign, usually asymptomatic, of no clinical significance, of no clinical consequence or malignant potential. We present a case of focal nodular hyperplasia of the liver with its characteristic findings on conventional ultrasound, contrast-enhanced ultrasound with quantitative analysis and correlated with magnetic resonance imaging.Case presentation: A 15-year-old female with right upper quadrant abdominal pain was referred for liver ultrasound. A focal liver lesion was detected on B-mode ultrasound examination, and colour Doppler demonstrated no specific features. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound examination demonstrated early arterial enhancement, with a characteristic spoke-wheel pattern, centrifugal uniform filling of the lesion on the late arterial phase and sustained enhancement on the portal venous phase. Quantitative contrast-enhanced ultrasound has been performed, showing a typical curve of enhancement, as well as characteristic parametric images, supporting the interpretation of contrast-enhanced ultrasound and assisting the diagnosis. Magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated a central T2 hyperintense scar and similar enhancement characteristics as contrast-enhanced ultrasound on T1 gadolinium-enhanced sequences. CONCLUSION Contrast-enhanced ultrasound is a useful technique for the differentiation of benign from malignant liver lesions and has the potential to establish the diagnosis of focal nodular hyperplasia, based on the enhancement pattern, which is similar to that observed on magnetic resonance imaging but can be better appreciated with superior temporal, contrast and spatial resolution of contrast-enhanced ultrasound.

Abstract
Hepatic angiomyolipoma (HAML) comprises epithelioid angiomyolipoma (EAML) and classic hepatic angiomyolipoma (CAML). The imaging appearance of HAML varies widely, and EAML is more easily misdiagnosed as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) than as CAML. The clinical and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) features of CAML, EAML and HCC with negative alpha-fetoprotein protein expression (HCC[AFP-]) were retrospectively reviewed. The hyper-vascular type was more commonly found in CAML and EAML lesions than in HCC lesions. Most lesions were hyper-enhanced in the arterial phase. CAMLs showed prolonged hyper-enhancement or iso-enhancement during the portal and late phases on CEUS, making them easily distinguishable from HCC(AFP-). Some EAML lesions (41.7%) were hypo-echoic, similar to HCC(AFP-). However, the hypo-enhancement of EAML lesions occurred later than that of HCC(AFP-) lesions. Thus, our findings may be useful in distinguishing among these lesions to improve diagnostic accuracy.

Abstract
Global statistics show an increasing percentage of patients that develop non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and NAFLD-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), even in the absence of cirrhosis. In the present review, we analyzed the diagnostic performance of ultrasonography (US) in the non-invasive evaluation of NAFLD and NAFLD-related HCC, as well as possibilities of optimizing US diagnosis with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) assistance. To date, US is the first-line examination recommended in the screening of patients with clinical suspicion of NAFLD, as it is readily available and leads to a better disease-specific surveillance. However, the conventional US presents limitations that significantly hamper its applicability in quantifying NAFLD and accurately characterizing a given focal liver lesion (FLL). Ultrasound contrast agents (UCAs) are an essential add-on to the conventional B-mode US and to the Doppler US that further empower this method, allowing the evaluation of the enhancement properties and the vascular architecture of FLLs, in comparison to the background parenchyma. The current paper also explores the new universe of AI and the various implications of deep learning algorithms in the evaluation of NAFLD and NAFLD-related HCC through US methods, concluding that it could potentially be a game changer for patient care.

Abstract
Background To summarize the characteristics of solitary necrotic nodules (SNN) in the liver observed under contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS). Methods Conventional ultrasonography (US) and CEUS were performed in 24 patients who were confirmed to have SNN by pathological assessment. The US data and dynamic enhancement patterns of CEUS were recorded and retrospectively analyzed. Results Ten of 24 patients underwent surgical resection, while the other 14 patients underwent a puncture biopsy to be confirmed as SNN. Among the 24 patients, 13 patients had a single lesion and 11 patients had multiple lesions. The largest lesion was selected for CEUS examination for patients with multiple lesions. Eleven patients presented no enhancement in all three phases, while the other 13 patients presented with a peripheral thin rim-like enhancement in the arterial phase, an iso-enhancement in the portal phase and delayed phase. However, no enhancement in the interior of the lesions was detected during three phases of CEUS. Conclusions SNN has characteristic findings on the CEUS, which play an important role in the differential diagnoses of liver focal lesions.

Abstract
Purpose: Angiogenesis in liver cancers can be characterized by hepatic functional perfusion imaging (FPI) on the basis of dynamic contrast-enhanced ultrasound (DCEUS). However, accuracy is limited by breathing motion which results in out-of-plane image artifacts. Current hepatic FPI studies do not correct for these artifacts and lack the evaluation of correction accuracy. Thus, a hepatic DCEUS-based dual-phase multi-parametric FPI (DM-FPI) scheme using a derivative principal component analysis (PCA) respiratory gating is proposed to overcome these limitations. Materials and Methods: By considering severe 3D out-of-plane respiratory motions, the proposed scheme's accuracy was verified with in vitro DCEUS experiments in a flow model mimicking a hepatic vein. The feasibility was further demonstrated by considering in vivo DCEUS measurements in normal rabbit livers, and hepatic cavernous hemangioma and hepatocellular carcinoma in patients. After respiratory kinetics was extracted through PCA of DCEUS sequences under free-breathing condition, dual-phase respiratory gating microbubble kinetics was identified by using a derivative PCA zero-crossing dual-phase detection, respectively. Six dual-phase hemodynamic parameters were estimated from the dual-phase microbubble kinetics and DM-FPI was then reconstructed via color-coding to quantify 2.5D angiogenic hemodynamic distribution for live tumors. Results: Compared with no respiratory gating, the mean square error of respiratory gating DM-FPI decreased by 1893.9 ± 965.4 (p < 0.05), and mean noise coefficients decreased by 17.5 ± 7.1 (p < 0.05), whereas correlation coefficients improved by 0.4 ± 0.2 (p < 0.01). DM-FPI observably removed severe respiratory motion artifacts on PFI and markedly enhanced the accuracy and robustness both in vitro and in vivo. Conclusions: DM-FPI precisely characterized and distinguished the heterogeneous angiogenic hemodynamics about perfusion volume, blood flow and flow rate within two anatomical sections in the normal liver, and in benign and malignant hepatic tumors. DCEUS-based DM-FPI scheme might be a useful tool to help clinicians diagnose and provide suitable therapies for liver tumors.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Numerous studies have reported that contrast ultrasound (CU) can be utilized for diagnosis in patients with liver cancer (LC) accurately. However, no systematic review has addressed to assess its diagnostic impact on patients with LC. Thus, this systematic review will investigate the accurate of CU diagnosis on LC. METHODS A comprehensive literature search for relevant studies will be performed in the Cochrane Library, EMBASE, MEDILINE, Web of Science, PSYCINFO, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Allied and Complementary Medicine Database, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure from inceptions to the March 10, 2019. All case-controlled studies investigating the impacts of CU diagnosis on LC will be included in this study. Two researchers will independently carry out study selection, quality assessment, and data extraction. The quality will be assessed by using Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies tool. Statistical analysis will be conducted by RevMan V.5.3 (Cochrane Community, London, UK) and Stata V.12.0 software (Stata Corp, College Station). RESULTS This study will present the accuracy of CU diagnosis for patients with LC through the assessment of sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio, negative likelihood ratio, and diagnostic odds ratio of CU. CONCLUSION The findings of this study will summarize the current evidence for accuracy of CU diagnosis in patients with LC. SYSTEMATIC REVIEW REGISTRATION PROSPERO CRD42019127108.

Abstract
Aggressive tumors are characterized by angiogenesis that promotes the migration and dissemination of tumor cells. Our aim was to develop a dual-targeted microbubble system for non-invasive evaluation of tumor angiogenesis in ultrasound. Avidinylated microbubbles were conjugated with biotinylated arginylglycylaspartic acid and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2) antibodies. Subcutaneous MHCC-97H liver carcinoma models were established. Non-targeted, αvβ3-targeted, VEGFR2-targeted and dual-targeted microbubbles was intravenously injected in series while acquiring ultrasound images of the tumor. The microbubbles were destroyed by a high-mechanical-index pulse 4 min after the injection. Peak intensity (PI) before and after the destructive pulse was recorded to compare contrast enhancement by different microbubbles. The targeting rates of the integrin-targeted, VEGFR2-targeted and dual-targeted groups were 95.02%, 96.04% and 94.23%, respectively, with no significant differences. Tumors in all groups were significantly enhanced. The time-intensity curve indicated no significant differences in arrival time, PI, area under the curve, amplitude and mean transit time. The difference in ultrasound signal intensity before and after the destructive pulse (⊿PI) for all targeted microbubble groups was significantly greater than that for the non-targeted microbubble group (all p values < 0.05), and the difference for the dual-targeted microbubble group was significantly greater than those of both mono-targeted groups (p <0.05).

Abstract
The aim of this follow-up study was to demonstrate the effect of percutaneous interventional treatment on local microcirculation of peripheral vascular malformations using CEUS and TIC analysis. MATERIAL AND METHODS Retrospective analysis of 197 patients (136 female; 61 male; 3-86 years) with 135 venous (VM), 39 arterio-venous (AVM), 8 lymphatic and 15 veno-lymphatic peripheral vascular malformations before and after the first percutaneous treatment.CEUS was performed after i.v. injection of 1-2.4 ml of sulfur hexafluoride microbubbles (SonoVue®) using a 6-9 MHz linear probe. Digitally stored cine loops (starting in the early arterial phase for 60 sec) were read by independent readers in consensus. Regions of interest (ROI) were defined in the center and at the margins of the malformation, as well as in the healthy surrounding tissue. TIC analyses with Time to Peak (TTP) and Area under the Curve (AUC) were calculated using integrated perfusion software. RESULTS After the treatment there was a significant decrease for median AUC in VM in the center from 297.8 (14.5-2167.6) rU down to 243.3 (0.1-1678.8) rU (p = 0.043) and in the surrounding tissue down to 107.7 (20.2-660.2) rU (p = 0.018). For the other malformations AUC decreased in the center and the margins as well. TTP rose, however these changes did not reach the level of significance. CONCLUSION Analyzing the capillary microcirculation TICs offer a possibility of monitoring therapy-induced capillary changes of vascular malformations.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The plantar fasciitis is a common disease with a high prevalence in public and a frequent cause of heel pain. OBJECTIVE In our pilot study, we wanted to characterise the feasibility of shear-wave elastography and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in the assessment of the plantar fasciitis. METHODS 23 cases of painful heels were examined by B-Mode ultrasound, Power Doppler (PD), shear wave elastography and contrast-enhanced ultrasound before anti-inflammatory radiation. Time-intensity-curves were analysed by the integrated software. The results for area-under-the-curve (AUC), peak, time-to-peak (TTP) and mean-transit-time (MTT) were compared between the plantar fascia and the surrounding tissue. RESULTS All cases showed thickening of the plantar fascia, in most cases with interstitial oedema (87.0%). Shear wave elastography showed inhomogeneous stiffness of the plantar fascia. 83.3% of cases showed a visible hyperperfusion in CEUS at the proximal plantar fascia in comparison to the surrounding tissue. This hyperperfusion could also be found in 75.0% of cases with no signs of vascularisation in PD. AUC (p = 0.0005) and peak (p = 0.037) were significantely higher in the plantar fascia than in the surrounding tissue. CONCLUSION CEUS and shear wave elastography are new diagnostic tools in the assessment of plantar fasciitis and can provide quantitative parameters for monitoring therapy.

Abstract
PURPOSE To investigate the value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in histologic prediction of focal liver lesions after liver transplantation. MATERIALS AND METHODS 10 focal liver lesions in 10 patients after liver transplantation were scanned using CEUS and the CEUS results were compared with the histopathological results. RESULTS Among 10 focal liver lesions, 7 proofed to be histopathological benign and 3 lesions proofed to be histopathological malignant. All lesions (100%) were correctly report as benign or malignant in the report of the CEUS examination. CONCLUSION CEUS can be helpful in the differentiation of benign and malignant focal liver lesions in patients after liver transplantation and can be used in clinical management of focal liver lesions.

Abstract
Background This meta-analysis is aimed at determining the diagnostic value of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS). Materials and Methods A comprehensive literature search of Pubmed, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library was performed to identify published studies. The methodological quality of the included studies was evaluated. Data from eligible studies were used to estimate the pooled sensitivity, specificity, diagnostic odds ratio (DOR), positive and negative likelihood ratio (LR) and summary receiver operating characteristic (SROC) curve. Meta-Disc and STATA softwares were utilized for all statistical analyses. Results Fifty-three eligible studies (publication years ranged from 1998 to 2016) were selected according to inclusion criteria. The meta-analysis showed that the pooled sensitivity and specificity of CEUS to detect HCC were 0.85 (95% CI: 0.84–0.86) and 0.91 (95% CI: 0.90–0.92), respectively. The pooled positive and negative LRs were 6.28 (95% CI: 4.49–8.77) and 0.16 (95% CI: 0.12–0.22), respectively. The pooled DOR was 55.01 (95% CI: 35.25–83.47). The area under the SCOR curve was 0.9432. Meta-regression and funnel plot indicated that sample size, type of contrast agents and publication bias might be the major sources of heterogeneity. Conclusions CEUS is a valuable diagnostic tool for identifying HCC in clinic with highly sensitive and specific.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the efficacy of strain elastography (SE) using semi-quantitative measurement methods compared to constrast enhanced ultrasound during liver tumor surgery (Io-CEUS) for dignity assessment of focal liver lesions(FLL). MATERIAL AND METHODS Prospective data acquisition and retrospective analysis of US data of 100 patients (116 lesions) who underwent liver tumor surgery between 10/2010 and 03/2016. Retrospective reading of SE color patterns was performed establishing groups depending on dominant color (>50% blue = stiff, inhomogenous, >50% yellow/red/green = soft tissue). Semi-quantitative analysis was performed by Q-analysis based on a scale from 0 (soft) to 6 (stiff). 2 ROIs were placed centrally, 5 ROIs in the lesion's surrounding tissue. Io-CEUS was performed by bolus injection of 5-10 ml sulphurhexaflourid microbubbles evaluating wash-in- and -out- kinetics in arterial, portal venous and late phase. Histopathology after surgical resection served as goldstandard. RESULTS 100 patients (m: 65, f: 35, mean age 60.5 years) with 116 liver lesions were included. Lesion's size ranged from 0.5 to 8.4 cm (mean 2.42 cm SD±1.44 cm). Postoperative histology showed 105 malignant and 11 benign lesions. Semi-quantitative analysis showed central indurations of >2.5 in 76/105 cases suggesting malignancy. 7 benign lesions displayed no central indurations correctly characterized benign by SE. ROC-analysis and Youden index showed a sensitivity of 72.4% and specificity of 63.6% assuming a cut-off of 2.5. Io-CEUS correctly characterized 103/105 as malignant. Sensitivity was 98%, specificity 72.7%. CONCLUSION Strain elastography is a valuable tool for non-invasive characterization of FLLs. Semi-quantitative intratumoral stiffness values of >2.5 suggested malignancy. However, sensitivity of Io-CEUS in detecting malignant lesions was higher compared to SE. In conclusion SE should be considered for routine use during intraoperative US in addition to Io-CEUS for optimization of curative liver surgery.
