Abstract
This review highlights the role of Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) in ovarian insufficiency and as a predictor of menopause. AMH, produced by granulosa cells in growing follicles, is a key marker of ovarian reserve, reflecting the remaining pool of viable follicles. In cases of primary ovarian insufficiency (POI), AMH levels are significantly reduced, aiding in diagnosis and distinguishing POI from other causes of amenorrhea. AMH levels below 8 pmol/L have shown high sensitivity (85%) and specificity (100%) for diagnosing POI in women with secondary oligomenorrhea. Regarding ovarian aging, AMH declines steadily with age, serving as a reliable predictor of menopausal timing. AMH levels are linked to menopausal symptoms, particularly vasomotor symptoms like hot flashes and their severity. However, its reliability for diagnosing menopause is inconsistent, especially in younger populations or when determining the exact onset. AMH levels can predict an earlier onset of menopause with limited sensitivity and specificity, particularly when using age-specific concentrations, as lower age-specific AMH levels are associated with an earlier menopause onset. Tracking AMH over time can improve the prediction of menopause. The accuracy of AMH measurements can be enhanced when considered alongside other hormonal markers or clinical symptoms. In polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), elevated AMH levels suggest a delayed onset of menopause, indicating an approximately two-year longer reproductive lifespan compared to women without PCOS (mean menopause age: 51.4 years in PCOS cases vs. 49.7 years in healthy controls). In endometriosis, AMH levels generally decline after surgery; however, they remain stable after chemotherapy, even years later, indicating that the decline in ovarian reserve may not be significantly affected.

Abstract
Conditioning regimens for hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT) in patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) place patients at risk for reproductive health issues. The purpose of this study was to assess reproductive health and reports of fertility counseling in patients with SCD who received a transplant. This was a secondary analysis of gonadal hormone production, future infertility risk assessment, and parent-proxy/patient reports of fertility counseling in SCD transplant recipients who are currently pubertal and were enrolled in the Atlanta sites of the Sickle Cell Transplant Evaluation of Long-term and Late Effects Registry (STELLAR) between May 2017 and October 2023. Clinical information was abstracted from medical records and reproductive health survey data from the STELLAR database. Descriptive statistics were reported as median (interquartile range [IQR]) or percentages. There were 20 females and 12 males in the study population. Females were median (IQR) 19.6 (9.4) years old and males 20.8 (11.4) years old at the time of the study. Transplants most commonly occurred in the decade 2010 to 2019 at 10.7 (4.8) years old for females and 11.1 (4.1) years old for males. Most participants received bone marrow stem cells (95.0% females, 100.0% males) from matched sibling donors (90.0% females, 100.0% males). Participants received one of seven HCT conditioning regimens with cyclophosphamide equivalent doses ranging from 3388 to 9706 mg/m2. The majority of females (90.0%) had diminished ovarian reserve with low anti-Mullerian hormone levels, and 61.1% had premature ovarian insufficiency with two follicle-stimulating hormone levels (FSH) ≥40 mIU/mL post-HCT. All males had normal testosterone levels, but 63.6% had elevated FSH levels suggestive of impaired spermatogenesis post-HCT. Parent proxies (for patients <18 years old) and patients ≥18 years old completed surveys 9.0 years (5.2) and 7.9 years (9.3) since HCT in females and males respectively. Twenty-five percent of parent proxies and 45% of patients reported that they had not been informed by a healthcare provider of the risk of infertility post-transplant. There are high rates of gonadal dysfunction post-HCT, but many parent proxies and patients do not recall being told of the risk for future infertility. More effective methods of education are warranted to ensure SCD patients and their families clearly understand the risk for reproductive health issues post-HCT.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The early onset of menopause is associated with increased risks of cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis. As a woman's circulating anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) concentration reflects the number of follicles remaining in the ovary and declines towards the menopause, serum AMH may be of value in the early diagnosis and prediction of age at menopause. OBJECTIVE AND RATIONALE This systematic review was undertaken to determine whether there is evidence to support the use of AMH alone, or in conjunction with other markers, to diagnose menopause, to predict menopause, or to predict and/or diagnose premature ovarian insufficiency (POI). SEARCH METHODS A systematic literature search for publications reporting on AMH in relation to menopause or POI was conducted in PubMed®, Embase®, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials up to 31 May 2022. Data were extracted and synthesized using the Synthesis Without Meta-analysis for diagnosis of menopause, prediction of menopause, prediction of menopause with a single/repeat measurement of AMH, validation of prediction models, short-term prediction in perimenopausal women, and diagnosis and prediction of POI. Risk-of-bias was evaluated using the Tool to Assess Risk of Bias in Cohort Studies protocol and studies at high risk of bias were excluded. OUTCOMES A total of 3207 studies were identified, and 41, including 28 858 women, were deemed relevant and included. Of the three studies that assessed AMH for the diagnosis of menopause, one showed that undetectable AMH had equivalent diagnostic accuracy to elevated FSH (>22.3 mIU/ml). No study assessed whether AMH could be used to shorten the 12 months of amenorrhoea required for a formal diagnosis of menopause. Studies assessing AMH with the onset of menopause (27 publications [n = 23 835 women]) generally indicated that lower age-specific AMH concentrations are associated with an earlier age at menopause. However, AMH alone could not be used to predict age at menopause with precision (with estimates and CIs ranging from 2 to 12 years for women aged <40 years). The predictive value of AMH increased with age, as the interval of prediction (time to menopause) shortened. There was evidence that undetectable, or extremely low AMH, may aid early diagnosis of POI in young women with a family history of POI, and women presenting with primary or secondary amenorrhoea (11 studies [n = 4537]). WIDER IMPLICATIONS The findings of this systematic review support the use of serum AMH to study the age of menopause in population studies. The increased sensitivity of current AMH assays provides improved accuracy for the prediction of imminent menopause, but diagnostic use for individual patients has not been rigorously examined. Prediction of age at menopause remains imprecise when it is not imminent, although the finding of very low AMH values in young women is both of clinical value in indicating an increased risk of developing POI and may facilitate timely diagnosis.

Abstract
Introduction Menopause is defined as the permanent cessation of menstruation, as a result of decrease in ovarian follicles and the loss of ovarian activity. There is decrease in inhibin B level which causes decrease in negative feedback on the serum follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), which in turn increases the level of serum FSH. Serum FSH is routinely used as a marker of menopause. Decline in the estrogen level causes thinning of vaginal epithelium, resulting in less exfoliation of the vaginal epithelial cells, lesser available glycogen, and decreased substrate for acid production, leading to increase in vaginal pH. Aims The aim of this study is to compare the sensitivity of vaginal pH versus serum FSH level to diagnose menopause. Settings and Design This is a cross-sectional study, performed in obstetrics and gynecology outpatient department of a teaching hospital of central Gujarat. Subjects and Methods A total of 120 women who had their last menstrual period >1 year back (menopause) were included in the study. Vaginal pH was measured and serum sample was taken to measure FSH level. Sensitivity of both vaginal pH and serum FSH to diagnose menopause was compared. McNemar test was used to analyze the convergence of the two methods for the diagnosis of menopause. Results In the absence of vaginal infection, sensitivity of vaginal pH to diagnose menopause was 90%, while sensitivity of the serum FSH was 85%. Conclusions Sensitivity of the vaginal pH is similar to the serum FSH for diagnosis of menopause.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study describes the hormone profiles for gonadal late effects after alkylator-based hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) regimens used for sickle-cell disease (SCD). METHODS This is a retrospective chart review of subjects followed in the post-HSCT clinic for sickle-cell disease. Patient demographics, pubertal development, characteristics of pre-HSCT disease severity, treatment before HSCT, conditioning regimens, presence of graft versus host disease and follicle-stimulating hormone, anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), luteinizing hormone and testosterone were abstracted from the medical record. RESULTS Forty subjects (24 female individuals) with SCD were 9 (±4.3) years old at HSCT and 7.9 years (±5.6) from HSCT. At the time of transplant, 8% of female individuals and no male individuals were pubertal and 58% of female individuals and 38% of male individuals had been treated with hydroxyurea. Post-HSCT, all of the female individuals had diminished ovarian reserve on the basis of low AMH values and 10 of the pubertal female individuals (71%) had premature ovarian insufficiency defined as follicle-stimulating hormone >40 mIU/mL ×2. There was no ovarian recovery and AMH remained very low or undetectable up to 13 years post-HSCT. In male individuals, luteinizing hormone and testosterone levels were normal for age. CONCLUSIONS Post-HSCT for SCD, all female individuals had diminished ovarian reserve and most female individuals had POI, whereas male individuals had normal testosterone hormone production.

Abstract
Background To investigate the age-dependent changes in circulating anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels in healthy Arabic-speaking Lebanese women, and to correlate changes in serum AMH levels with serum FSH and LH values, and LH/FSH ratio. Methods Cross-sectional study, involving 1190 healthy females, age 17–54 years, with regular menses and both ovaries. Serum AMH levels (ng/ml) were measured by ELISA. Results There was an inverse proportion of AMH and subject’s age, which declined from median 6.71 (2.91) ng/ml in young subjects, to 0.68 (0.45) ng/ml in subjects older than 50 years. Average yearly decrease in median AMH levels was 0.27 ng/ml/year through age 35, but then diminished to 0.12 ng/ml/year afterwards. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis demonstrated high sensitivity and specificity of age as determinant of AMH levels. In contrast to AMH, FSH levels increased progressively from 5.89 (0.11–62.10) ng/ml in young subjects, to 38.43 (3.99–88.30) ng/ml in subjects older than 50 years. On the other hand, age-dependent changes in LH/FSH ratio paralleled those of AMH. Linear regression modeling testing the independent effect of AMH on FSH and LH, adjusted for age, showed that AMH was significant predictor of FSH and LH/FSH ratio, but not LH. This did not contribute significantly to baseline LH and FSH prediction. Conclusions Circulating AMH levels are inversely related to age as also shown elsewhere, and are predictors of LH/FSH ratio and FSH but not LH levels in eumenorrheic females.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Highly purified human menotrophin and urofollitrophin preparations obtained from human urine via a novel patented purification method have been tested over a timeframe of 14 years in the studies presented in this article. The objective of the studies was to investigate the pharmacokinetics and the pharmacodynamics of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) after single subcutaneous and intramuscular doses and multiple subcutaneous doses of the tested preparations in healthy fertile pituitary-suppressed women. DESIGNS We performed five open, randomised, crossover, single-dose bioequivalence and/or bioavailability studies and one open, multiple-dose, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics study. STUDY SUBJECTS AND TREATMENTS The six studies included 121 healthy fertile women taking their usual combined oral contraceptives for 3 months before the study: Study 1: 300 international units (IU) of highly purified menotrophin as single subcutaneous and intramuscular doses. Study 2: 300 IU of highly purified menotrophin (test formulation vs. comparator) as single subcutaneous doses. Study 3: 300 IU of highly purified urofollitrophin (hp-FSH) (test formulation vs. comparator) as single subcutaneous doses. Study 4: 300 IU (2 × 150 IU vs. 4 × 75 IU) of hp-FSH as single subcutaneous doses. Study 5: 225 and 445 IU of hp-FSH as single subcutaneous doses. Study 6: daily 225 IU of hp-FSH as subcutaneous doses for 5 consecutive days. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES The main outcome measures were the FSH pharmacokinetic parameters, estradiol concentrations, and the number and size of the follicles. RESULTS FSH after single subcutaneous and intramuscular injections of menotrophin or urofollitrophin attained a systemic peak (maximum) concentration (C max) that was on average consistent throughout the first four studies and ranged from 4.98 to 7.50 IU/L. The area under the plasma concentration-time curve (AUC) from administration to the last observed concentration time t (AUCt) ranged from 409.71 to 486.16 IU/L·h and the elimination half-life (t ½) ranged from 39.02 to 53.63 h. After multiple doses of urofollitrophin (225 IU) for 5 days, FSH attained a mean C max of 14.93 ± 2.92 IU/L and had an AUC during the time interval τ between two consecutive doses at steady state (AUCτ) of 322.59 ± 57.92 IU/L·h, which was similar to the mean AUCt after a single subcutaneous dose of 225 IU of urofollitrophin in study 5 (306.82 ± 68.37 IU/L·h). CONCLUSIONS In our studies, the intramuscular and subcutaneous routes of menotrophin were equivalent; both menotrophin and urofollitrophin were bioequivalent to their marketed reference; FSH kinetic parameters following injection of urofollitrophin were dose proportional and independent from the administered concentration; and multiple doses of FSH increased estradiol levels and enhanced growth of follicles with a good dose-response correlation. Local tolerability was excellent throughout the six studies.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To evaluate preoperative anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels in women with endometrioma or other benign ovarian cysts and differences of AMH changes according to various characteristics. METHODS Ninety-seven patients aged 20 to 39 years who underwent surgery for benign ovarian cyst were enrolled retrospectively. Of these, 65 patients were diagnosed as endometriomas, and 32 had other benign cysts. Serum AMH, mean, maximum, and total diameter of ovarian cysts were measured. The AMH levels were compared according to pathology (endometrioma vs. other benign cyst), size of ovarian cyst, age-matched AMH quartile percentile and characteristics of endometrioma. RESULTS Preoperative serum AMH level was significantly lower in endometrioma group than other benign cyst group (4.12 ± 2.42 ng/mL vs. 6.02 ± 2.29 ng/mL, P < 0.001). Serum AMH level was significantly lower in endometrioma group, especially in patients aged 30 to 39 years. Dividing to age-matched AMH quartile percentile, there were significantly fewer patients with AMH level ≥ 75 percentile in endometrioma group (24.6% vs. 50.0%, P = 0.035). Among 4 subgroups of endometrioma, patients with AMH level ≥ 75 percentile were significantly decreased in multiple bilateral endometrioma group. Mean and total diameter of cysts were negatively correlated with preoperative serum AMH level in other benign cyst group. CONCLUSION We suggest that preoperative AMH level measurement might be considered in women with endometrioma, especially in 30 to 39 years old, multiple bilateral type, or big-sized other benign ovarian cyst to assess the diminished ovarian reserve.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Osteocalcin was found to have a significant role in insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is considered a pathophysiological mechanism of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). However, the relationship between serum osteocalcin level and NAFLD is not well known. METHODS A total of 7,067 women undergoing abdominal ultrasonography, bone mineral density, and serum osteocalcin level measurement were analyzed. RESULTS Serum osteocalcin level was independently associated with menopausal status, bone mineral density, calcium, phosphate, alkaline phosphatase, fasting blood glucose, triglyceride, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, alanine aminotransferase, γ-glutamyltransferase, and NAFLD. When women were grouped according to their menopausal status and bone mineral density, the serum osteocalcin level showed an independent inverse association with NAFLD in premenopausal women without osteopenia or osteoporosis (n = 2,941) [odd ratio (OR): 0.94, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.91-0.96, p < 0.001] and postmenopausal women without osteopenia or osteoporosis (n = 2,155) (OR: 0.96, 95% CI: 0.95-0.98, p < 0.001), however, not in premenopausal (n = 308) or postmenopausal women (n = 1,663) with osteopenia or osteoporosis. CONCLUSIONS The serum osteocalcin level was an independent factor associated with NAFLD, especially for women with normal bone mineral density. © 2015 S. Karger AG, Basel.

Abstract
Menopause is a relevant phase in a woman's reproductive life. Accurate estimation of the time of menopause could improve the preventive management of women's health. Reproductive hormones reflect the activity of follicle pools and provide information about ovarian aging. Anti-Mu llerian hormone (AMH) is secreted from small antral follicles and its level is correlated to the ovarian reserve. AMH declines with age, and data suggest that it can provide information on menopausal age and reproductive lifespan. Serum AMH levels become low approximately 5 years before the final menstrual period and are undetectable in postmenopausal women. The majority of studies indicate that AMH is relatively stable throughout the menstrual cycle; however, there are interindividual variabilites of serum AMH concentration under different conditions. AMH is an independent predictor of time to menopause. AMH coupled with age for menopause prediction provides stronger information than using age alone. Ongoing research is focused on constructing a multivariate model including AMH values, genes related to follicular recruitment and maternal age of menopause that would predict more precisily time to menopause.

Abstract
Introduction. Anti-Müllerian hormone represents the primitive follicular number and ovarian age. Low level of AMH is in relation to early menopausal state and decreased ovarian reserve. AMH level changes occur prior to FSH level in representing ovarian failure. The aim of this study is to compare sensitivity and specificity of AMH with FSH in diagnosis of POF. Material and Methods. This descriptive study is done on 96 patients referred to Dr. Rasekh Clinic. Serum level of AMH and FSH was measured at Day 3 (3rd day of menstrual cycle) and data were analyzed through SPSS 21 software. Results. Results of AMH and FSH serum level indicate that AMH has more sensitivity (80% versus 28.57%) and almost equal specificity (78.89% versus 78.65%) compared with FSH. Also negative predictive value of AMH (98.61%) and FSH (87.5%) is different. But positive predictive value is the same (17.39%). Diagnostic accuracy of AMH is more than FSH and has significant differences. Conclusion. According to the results of this study, AMH serum level is more sensitive than FSH serum level. Also AMH has more negative predictive value. Besides, this hormone can be measured at any time of menstrual cycle, against FSH. AMH seems to be more useful in early diagnosis of POF.

Abstract
Serum anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels are regarded as an age-specific marker for predicting the ovarian reserve in women of reproductive age. Some studies have shown that the luteinizing hormone (LH)/follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) ratio can be used as a predictor of ovarian reserve. The purpose of this study was to assess the variation of LH/FSH ratio with aging and to evaluate the correlation between serum LH/FSH ratio and AMH levels as a predictor of the ovarian reserve in normo-ovulatory women. We retrospectively analyzed the day 3 serum hormone levels in 1,251 patients (age range: 20-50 yr) between January 2010 and January 2011. We divided the patients into 6 groups according to their age. Relation between serum AMH level and LH/FSH ratio was analyzed statistically. The serum AMH level was inversely correlated with age (r = -0.400, P < 0.001). A significant negative correlation was found between serum LH/FSH ratio and age (r = -0.213, P < 0.001). There was a significant partial correlation between serum LH/FSH ratio and AMH level when adjusted by age (r = 0.348, P < 0.001). The LH/FSH ratio could be considered as a useful marker for the ovarian reserve and could be applied to the clinical evaluation with AMH.

Abstract
This prospective study investigated the relationship between anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) level in the follicular fluid (FF) and the quality of the oocyte and embryo. A total of 65 FF samples from 54 women were included in this study. FF was collected from the largest preovulatory follicle sized≥20 mm of mean diameter from each ovary. Samples were divided into 3 groups according to the FF AMH levels: below the 33th percentile (low group, FF AMH<2.1 ng/mL, n=21), between the 33th and the 67th percentile (intermediate group, FF AMH=2.1-3.6 ng/mL, n=22), and above the 67th percentile (high group, FF AMH>3.6 ng/mL, n=22). The quality of the ensuing oocytes and embryos was evaluated by fertilization rate and embryo score. FF AMH levels correlated positively with the matched embryo score on day 3 after fertilization (r=0.331, P=0.015). The normal fertilization rate was significantly lower in the low group than in the intermediate group (61.9% vs. 95.5% vs. 77.3%, respectively, P=0.028). Our results suggest that the FF AMH level could be a predictor of the ensuing oocyte and embryo quality.

Abstract
Objective In 2009 anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) assay was approved for clinical use in Korea. This study was performed to determine the reference values of AMH for predicting ovarian response to controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) using the clinical assay data. Methods One hundred sixty-two women who underwent COH cycles were included in this study. We collected data on age, basal AMH and FSH levels, total dose of gonadotropins, stimulation duration, and numbers of oocytes retrieved and fertilized. Blood samples were obtained on cycle day 3 before gonadotropin administration started. Serum AMH levels were measured at a centralized clinical laboratory center. The correlation between the AMH level and COH outcomes and cut-off values for poor and high response after COH was analyzed. Results Concentration of AMH was significantly correlated with the number of oocytes retrieved (OPU; r=0.700, p<0.001). The mean±SE serum AMH levels for poor (OPU≤3), normal (4≤OPU≤19), and high (OPU≥20) response were 0.94±0.15 ng/mL, 2.79±0.21 ng/mL, and 6.94±0.90 ng/mL, respectively. The cut-off level, sensitivity and specificity for poor and high response were 1.08 ng/mL, 85.8%, and 78.6%; and 3.57 ng/mL, 94.4%, and 83.3%, respectively. Conclusion Our data present clinical reference values of the serum AMH level for ovarian response in Korean women. The serum AMH level could be a clinically useful predictor of ovarian response to COH.

Abstract
Insulin-like growth factor (IGF) signaling plays an important autocrine, paracrine and endocrine role in growth promotion involving various tissues and organs. Synthesis of both IGFs (IGF-1 and IGF-2) in normal conditions takes place mainly in the liver even if the proteins can be produced in every cell of the human body. The alterations in the IGF signaling axis in human hepatocarcinogenesis are described, but mechanisms of the interactions between expression of oncogenic hepatitis C virus (HCV) proteins and components of the IGF system in progression of chronic hepatitis C to primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have been poorly recognised. In advanced stages of liver diseases, lowered serum levels of IGF-1 and IGF-2 have been documented. This was supposed to reflect significant damage to liver parenchyma, a decreased number of growth hormone receptors and a decreased genomic expression of IGF binding proteins (IGF BPs). In HCC, a decreased tissue expression of IGF-1, and an increased expression of IGF-1 receptor (IGF-1R) were noted, compared to the control. Potential mechanisms of augmented IGF-2 expression in HCC were also described and dysregulation of IGF signaling in HCC was concluded to occur predominantly at the level of IGF-2 bioavailability. The review aimed at presentation of involvement of IGF-1, IGF-1R and IGF BPs (mostly IGF BP-3 and IGF BP-6) in HCV-related hepatocarcinogenesis. Manifestation of various mRNA transcripts and IGF-1 proteins and their potential involvement in carcinogenesis are also discussed.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) investigated whether acute exacerbation of COPD (AECOPD) and clinically stable COPD (CSCOPD) are associated with changes in circulating insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and C-reactive protein (CRP) concentrations, and whether changes in IGF-1 and CRP levels are related to changes in the indicators of malnutrition and muscle wasting. METHODS A total of 61 patients with AECOPD, 43 patients with CSCOPD and 20 healthy age-matched controls were included in the study. Circulating IGF-1 and CRP levels, together with erythrocyte sedimentation rate and indicators of malnutrition and muscle wasting, were measured in all the study participants. RESULTS Circulating IGF-1 levels were significantly lower and CRP levels significantly higher in COPD patients than in controls. In addition, IGF-1 levels were significantly lower and CRP levels significantly higher in AECOPD patients than in CSCOPD patients. In COPD patients, indicators of malnutrition and muscle wasting (weight, body mass index, thigh circumference and albumin level) were significantly positively correlated with logIGF-1; thigh circumference and albumin level were significantly inversely correlated with logCRP. CONCLUSION Circulating IGF-1 and CRP levels may have potential as indicators of exacerbation, malnutrition and muscle wasting in patients with COPD.

Abstract
Objective To determine the age specific serum anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) reference values in Korean women with regular menstruation. Methods Between May, 2010 and January, 2011, the serum AMH levels were evaluated in a total of 1,298 women who have regular menstrual cycles aged between 20 and 50 years. Women were classified into 6 categories by age: 20-31 years, 32-34 years, 35-37 years, 38-40 years, 41-43 years, above 43 years. Measurement of serum AMH was measured by commercial enzyme-linked immunoassay. Results The serum AMH levels correlated negatively with age. The median AMH level of each age group was 4.20 ng/mL, 3.70 ng/mL, 2.60 ng/mL, 1.50 ng/mL, 1.30 ng/mL, and 0.60 ng/mL, respectively. The AMH values in the lower 5th percentile of each age group were 1.19 ng/mL, 0.60 ng/mL, 0.42 ng/mL, 0.27 ng/mL, 0.14 ng/mL, and 0.10 ng/mL, respectively. Conclusion This study determined reference values of serum AMH in Korean women with regular menstruation. These values can be applied to clinical evaluation and treatment of infertile women.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the utility of random anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) in assessing ovarian response among women with diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) diagnosed by elevated early follicular-phase FSH levels. DESIGN Retrospective study. SETTING Academic and academically affiliated assisted reproductive technology (ART) programs. PATIENT(S) Seventy-three women undergoing ART with elevated early follicular FSH levels. INTERVENTION(S) None. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE(S) Number of oocytes retrieved during ART cycle, number of day 3 embryos, and cycle cancellation and clinical pregnancy rates. RESULT(S) Random AMH levels were strongly correlated with the number of oocytes retrieved during an ART cycle among women with elevated FSH (r=0.55). Women with elevated FSH who had a random serum AMH level of 0.6 ng/mL or higher had twice the number of oocytes retrieved (11±1.3 vs. 5.6±0.6), a greater number of day 3 embryos (5.7±0.9 vs. 3±0.5), and approximately a third of the cycle cancellation rate (14% vs. 41%) compared with women with a random serum AMH below 0.6 ng/mL. The clinical pregnancy rate was also higher among women with a random serum AMH≥0.6 ng/mL (28% vs. 14%), however, the difference was not statistically significant. CONCLUSION(S) A random serum AMH level is useful in setting expectations for ART prognosis in women with elevated early follicular-phase serum FSH levels.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) has been suggested as a marker of ovarian reserve and predictor of ovarian response to controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH). Several studies have demonstrated AMH changes during follicular and luteal phases during COH, but not after human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG) administration. The objectives of this study were to investigate changes in AMH levels during the entire COH cycle and to clarify the regulatory mechanism of AMH secretion. In addition, we analyzed the COH outcome parameters to determine the optimal timing for AMH measurement to predict outcome. METHODS The study included 74 women who underwent in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles with a GnRH agonist or antagonist protocol. Serum AMH and inhibin B levels were measured at baseline, Day 5 of stimulation (d5), day of hCG administration (dhCG), day of oocyte retrieval (dOPU) and 14 days after oocyte retrieval (dPO14). Follicular fluid (FF) from dominant follicles upon oocyte retrieval were also analyzed for AMH and inhibin B concentrations. AMH levels were analyzed for changes during the cycle and for correlations with COH outcome parameters. RESULTS Serum AMH levels decreased progressively during COH until dhCG, then increased on dOPU and further increased on dPO14. Serum and FF AMH levels and dynamic changes were not different between the GnRH agonist and antagonist cycles. Serum AMH levels on every sample day and the FF AMH levels were significantly correlated with outcomes of COH, such as dose of gonadotrophins used, estradiol level on dhCG and number of retrieved oocytes; the strength of the relationship was highest for baseline AMH. CONCLUSIONS The results of the present study suggest that changes in the hormonal milieu during stimulation and after the LH surge may affect AMH secretion. Serum AMH levels during COH are good markers to predict ovarian response, but the baseline serum level seems to be the most predictive marker.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to assess the capability of a single measurement of antimullerian hormone (AMH) to predict menopause status in late reproductive-aged women. METHODS A group of 147 women, naturally fertile, aged 40 to 50 years with regular menstrual cycles were selected from the Tehran Lipid and Glucose Study cohort. Participants were assessed three times at 3-year intervals (T1-T3), and their blood levels of AMH were measured. The World Health Organization classification was used to define menopause status. The area under the receiver operating characteristics curve was calculated to assess the ability of AMH at T1 to discriminate between women who have reached menopause status and those who have not. Cutoff points and their relevant sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values were calculated. RESULTS Of 147 women, menopause occurred in 60. With use of the AMH level at T1, the probability of an accurate prediction of not reaching menopause status within the next 6 years for women aged 40 to 50 years was 88% (area under the receiver operating characteristics curve, 0.88; 95% CI, 0.83-0.94; P < 0.001). A threshold of 0.39 ng/mL for AMH had the optimal combined sensitivity and specificity for prediction with a positive predictive value of 0.90 (95% CI, 0.81-0.96) and negative predictive value of 0.76 (95% CI, 0.65-0.86). Results for a slightly lower (0.365 ng/mL) and higher (0.49 ng/mL) AMH threshold had negligible effect. Stratified analysis for women aged 40 to 44 and 45 to 49 years produced similar results. CONCLUSIONS Of every 10 women in late reproductive age with AMH levels greater than 0.39 ng/mL, only one will reach menopause status within the next 6 years. A single AMH measurement is a good predictor for the onset of menopause.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To determine if the anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), a proposed marker of ovarian aging, decreases with repetitive oocyte donation. DESIGN Retrospective cohort. SETTING Academic. PATIENT(S) Thirty-six young women who underwent three to seven oocyte donation cycles. INTERVENTION(S) Assessor blind determination of AMH levels from serum samples collected during each treatment cycle. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE(S) Cycle trends of serum AMH levels. RESULT(S) The AMH was the only predictor of oocyte yield in the first cycles. The AMH was negatively associated with donor age and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) dose used. Serum AMH levels did not show any decrease per treatment cycle basis and per maximum number of oocyte donation cycles performed per woman. Whereas donors who underwent six cycles showed increasing AMH levels when controlled for studied covariates, the slopes of the multiple regression curves were not significantly different from donors who underwent three, four, and five cycles. Clinical outcome assessed by FSH dose/number of oocytes ratio did not show significant change over repetitive cycles. Intercycle variation of AMH in all patients over three cycles was found to be 12.5%, which was within the reported intermenstrual range. CONCLUSION(S) Serum AMH levels do not decrease over repetitive oocyte donation cycles, which may imply that accelerated ovarian aging may not occur in oocyte donors.

Abstract
Menopause is an important public health issue because of its association with a number of disorders. Androgens produced by residual ovarian tissue after menopause could impact the development of these disorders. It has been unclear, however, whether the postmenopausal ovary retains steroidogenic capacity. Thus, an ovary-intact mouse model for menopause that uses the occupational chemical 4-vinylcyclohexene diepoxide (VCD) was used to characterize the expression of steroidogenic genes in residual ovarian tissue of follicle-depleted mice. Female B6C3F1 mice (age, 28 days) were dosed daily for 20 days with either vehicle or VCD (160 mg kg(-1) day(-1)) to induce ovarian failure. Ovaries were collected on Day 181 and analyzed for mRNA and protein. Acyclic aged mice were used as controls for natural ovarian senescence. Relative to cycling controls, expression of mRNA encoding steroidogenic acute regulatory protein (Star); cholesterol side-chain cleavage (Cyp11a1); 3beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (Hsd3b); 17alpha-hydroxylase (Cyp17a1); scavenger receptor class B, type 1 (Scarb1); low-density lipoprotein receptor (Ldlr); and luteinizing hormone receptor (Lhcgr) was enriched in VCD-treated ovaries. In acyclic aged ovaries, mRNA expression for only Cyp17a1 and Lhcgr was greater than that in controls. Compared to cycling controls, ovaries from VCD-treated and aged mice had similar levels of HSD3B, CYP17A1, and LHCGR protein. The pattern of protein immunofluorescence staining for HSD3B in follicle-depleted (VCD-treated) ovaries was homogeneous, whereas that for CYP17A1 was only seen in residual interstitial cells. Circulating levels of FSH and LH were increased, and androstenedione levels were detectable following follicle depletion in VCD-treated mice. These findings support the idea that residual ovarian tissue in VCD-treated mice retains androgenic capacity.
