Abstract
Laccases play a crucial role in neutralizing environmental pollutants, including antibiotics and phenolic compounds, by converting them into less harmful substances via a unique oxidation process. This study introduces an environmentally sustainable remediation technique, utilizing NiO nanoparticles (NPs) synthesized through green chemistry to immobilize a metagenome-derived laccase, PersiLac1, enhancing its application in pollutant detoxification. Salvadora persica leaf extract was used for the synthesis of NiO nanoparticles, utilizing its phytochemical constituents as reducing and capping agents, followed by characterization through different analyses. Characterization of NiO nanoparticles revealed distinctive FTIR absorption peaks indicating the nanoparticulate structure, while FESEM showed structured NiO with robust interconnections and dimensionality of about 50nm, confirmed by EDX analysis to have a consistent distribution of Ni and O. The immobilized PersiLac1 demonstrated enhanced thermal stability, with 85.55 % activity at 80 °C and reduced enzyme leaching, retaining 67.93 % activity across 15 biocatalytic cycles. It efficiently reduced rice straw (RS) phenol by 67.97 % within 210 min and degraded 70-78 % of tetracycline (TC) across a wide pH range (4.0-8.0), showing superior performance over the free enzyme. Immobilized laccase achieved up to 71 % TC removal at 40-80 °C, significantly outperforming the free enzyme. Notably, 54 % efficiency was achieved at 500 mg/L TC by immobilized laccase at 120 min. This research showed the potential of green-synthesized NiO nanoparticles to effectively immobilize laccase, presenting an eco-friendly approach to purify pollutants such as phenols and antibiotics. The durability and reusability of the immobilized enzyme, coupled with its ability to reduce pollutants, indicates a viable method for cleaning the environment. Nonetheless, the production costs and scalability of NiO nanoparticles for widespread industrial applications pose significant challenges. Future studies should focus on implementation at an industrial level and examine a wider range of pollutants to fully leverage the environmental clean-up capabilities of this innovative technology.

Abstract
The creation of a new metal-organic framework (MOF) with a hollow hierarchical porous structure has gained significant attention in the realm of enzyme immobilization. The present work employed a novel, facile, and effective combinatorial technique to synthesize modified MOF (N-PVP/HZIF-8) with a hierarchically porous core-shell structure, allowing for the preservation of the structural integrity of the encapsulated enzyme molecules. Scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, confocal laser scanning microscopy, and other characterization tools were used to fully explore the changes of morphological structure and surface properties in different stages of the preparation of immobilization enzyme CRL-N-PVP/HZIF-8, thus showing the superiority of N-PVP/HZIF-8 as an enzyme immobilization platform and the logic of the immobilization process on the carrier. Additionally, the maximum enzyme loading was 216.3 mg mL-1, the relative activity of CRL-N-PVP/HZIF-8 increased by 15 times compared with the CRL@ZIF-8 immobilized in situ, and exhibited quite good thermal, chemical, and operational stability. With a maximal conversion of 88.8%, CRL-N-PVP/HZIF-8 demonstrated good catalytic performance in the biosynthesis of phytosterol esters as a proof of concept. It is anticipated that this work will offer fresh concepts from several perspectives for the creation of MOF-based immobilized enzymes for biotechnological uses.

Abstract
Enzymatic lipophilization has been proposed as a cost-effective strategy to produce new liposoluble antioxidant compounds. In this study, modified oils rich in structured phenolipids were prepared via one-pot enzymatic acylation of hydroxytyrosol (HTYR), vanillyl alcohol (VA) and homovanillyl alcohol (HVA) with pomace olive oil (POO) in solvent-free conditions using immobilized lipase on biogenic nanoparticles. The effect of temperature (30-70 °C) and enzyme concentration (0.1-1%, w/w) on the efficiency of the bioprocess as well as the reusability of the nanobiocatalyst were thoroughly investigated. The modified oils exhibited increased antioxidant activity compared to the control oil according to DPPH and CUPRAC assays (p < 0.05). The oxidative stability of pomace olive oil was also significantly enhanced after modification, as depicted by the K232 values and TBARS contents under accelerated oxidation at 60 °C (p < 0.05). Moreover, a fortified mayonnaise containing modified oil with HTYR was prepared that was noticeably stable compared to the control mayonnaise at 28 °C for 5 months (p < 0.05). Enzymatically modified oils have great potential for application in the nutraceutical and food industry, encouraging the exploitation of immobilized lipases as effective and green catalytic tools.

Abstract
Esterases are among the most studied enzymes, and their applications expand into several branches of industrial biotechnology. Yet, despite the fact that information on their substrate specificity is crucial for selecting or designing the best fitted biocatalyst for the desired application, it cannot be predicted from their amino acid sequence. In this work, we studied the substrate scope of the newly discovered hydrolytic extremozyme, EstDZ3, against a library of esters with variable carbon chain lengths in an effort to understand the crucial amino acids for the substrate selectivity of this enzyme. EstDZ3 appears to be active against a wide range of esters with high selectivity towards medium- to long-carbon chain vinyl esters. In-silico studies of its 3D structure revealed that the selectivity might arise from the mainly hydrophobic nature of the active site's environment.

Abstract
The use of biological systems such as plants, bacteria, and fungi for the synthesis of nanomaterials has emerged to fill the gap in the development of sustainable methods that are non-toxic, pollution-free, environmentally friendly, and economical for synthesizing nanomaterials with potential in biomedicine, biotechnology, environmental science, and engineering. Current research focuses on understanding the characteristics of biogenic nanoparticles as these will form the basis for the biosynthesis of nanoparticles with multiple functions due to the physicochemical properties they possess. This review briefly describes the intrinsic enzymatic mimetic activity of biogenic metallic nanoparticles, the cytotoxic effects of nanoparticles due to their physicochemical properties and the use of capping agents, molecules acting as reducing and stability agents and which aid to alleviate toxicity. The review also summarizes recent green synthetic strategies for metallic nanoparticles.

Abstract
Functional lipids, mainly ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFAs) such as eicosapentaenoic (EPA; 20:5n-3) and docosahexaenoic (DHA; 22:6n-3), are known to have a variety of health benefits. Lipases and phospholipases are widely used to prepare different forms of structured lipids, since biocatalytic methods can be carried out under mild conditions, preserving the quality of the products. On the other hand, many processes still are conducted at high temperatures and with organic solvents, which are conditions unfavorable for the production of nutritional products. This article gives an updated overview of enzyme biocatalysis methods for the preparation of different derivatives containing n-3 PUFAs, including specific reactions, enzyme immobilization research for high-efficiency catalysis, and enzyme engineering technologies (higher selectivity, stability, and activity). Furthermore, advanced control strategies of biocatalytic processes and reactors are presented. The future prospect and opportunities for marine functional lipids are also discussed. Therefore, the obtainment of enzymes endowed with superior properties and the development of optimized processes, still have to be pursued to achieve greener bio-catalyzed processes.

Abstract
The hydroxyapatite/glycyrrhizin/lithium-based metal-organic framework (HA/GL/Li-MOF) nanocomposites were synthesized via the hydrothermal method in the presence of lecithin and glycyrrhizin. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) were applied for characterization of the fabricated nanocomposites. The HA/GL/Li-MOF and Li-MOF nanocomposites were employed as support for immobilization of Thermomyces lanuginosus lipase (TLL). The Plackett-Burman and Box-Behnken designs were used for screening and optimizing of variables affecting the immobilization conditions, respectively. The optimum specific activity of immobilized TLL on HA/GL/Li-MOF and Li-MOF nanocomposites (41.8 ± 1.2 U/mg and 39.4 ± 3.1 U/mg, respectively) was predictably determined at support concentration of 0.5 mg/mL, glutaraldehyde concentration of 5 mM, and enzyme activity of 20 U/mg, while the specific activities of TLL@ HA/GL/Li-MOF and TLL@Li-MOF were experimentally found to be 39.5 ± 3.7 U/mg and 38.5 ± 2.3 U/mg, respectively. The stability results showed that the TLL@ HA/GL/Li-MOF has suitable stability against pH and thermal denaturation. However, the immobilized TLL on Li-MOF represented lower stability compared with that of the HA/GL/Li-MOF. The immobilized TLL on HA/GL/Li-MOF maintained near 70% of its original activity after 15 days' storage and during 5 runs of application. In addition, TLL@HA/GL/Li-MOF exhibited higher enzyme-substrate affinity (Km, 10.1 mM) compared to that of TLL@Li-MOF (Km, 23.4 mM). Therefore, these findings demonstrated the potential use of HA/GL/Li-MOF nanocomposites for enzyme immobilization.

Abstract
Lipase catalytic activity is greatly influenced by immobilization on nanoparticles. In this study, lipase from Aspergillus niger was immobilized on TiO2 nanoparticles with different morphologies: microspheres, nanotubes, and nanosheets. All TiO2 samples were prepared by a hydrothermal method. Lipase/TiO2 nanocomposites were prepared by a physical adsorption method through hydrophobic interactions. The prepared composites were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The catalytic activity of free and immobilized lipases was tested using sunflower oil in the presence of methanol to produce biodiesel at 40 °C for 90 min. The lipase immobilized on TiO2 microspheres showed the highest activity compared to the lipase immobilized on TiO2 nanotubes and nanosheets. To optimize the lipase-to-microsphere ratio, lipase was immobilized on TiO2 microspheres in different microspheres/lipase, w/w, (S/L) ratios of 1:1, 1:0.75, 1:0.5, and 1:0.25. It was noticed that the hydrolytic activity follows the order 1:0.25 > 1:0.5 > 1:75 > 1:1. The immobilization yield activities were found to be 113, 123, 125, and 130% for the microspheres/lipase (S/L) ratios of 1:1, 1:0.75, 1:0.5, and 1:0.25, respectively.

Abstract
Recently, new bioactive compounds were identified in olive oil, lipophenols, which are composed of a fatty acid (FA) and a phenolic core, such as HT (HT-FA). However, their bioaccessibility remains unknown. Thus, the present study uncovers the impact of the separate phases of gastrointestinal digestion on the release and stability of HT-FAs from oily matrices under in vitro simulated conditions. Accordingly, it was found that the bioaccessibility of HT derivatives is largely dependent on the type of FA that esterifies HT, as well as the food matrix. Also, the generation of HT-FAs during intestinal digestion was observed, with pancreatin being the enzyme responsible, to a higher extent, for the de novo formation of lipophenolic derivatives. These findings prompt us to identify new applications to oily matrices and their byproducts as potential functional ingredients for the promotion of health, where the possible formation of new lipophenols during digestion should be taken into consideration.

Abstract
Polyphenols and omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids from fish oils, i.e., eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic acids, are well-recognized nutraceuticals, and their single antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties have been demonstrated in several studies found in the literature. It has been reported that the combination of these nutraceuticals can lead to three-fold increases in glutathione peroxidase activity, two-fold increases in plasma antioxidant capacity, decreases of 50-100% in lipid peroxidation, protein carbonylation, and urinary 8-isoprotanes, as well as 50-200% attenuation of common inflammation biomarkers, among other effects, as compared to their individual capacities. Therefore, the adequate combination of those bioactive food compounds and their single properties should offer a powerful tool for the design of successfully nutritional interventions for the prevention and palliation of a plethora of human metabolic diseases, frequently diet-induced, whose etiology and progression are characterized by redox homeostasis disturbances and a low-grade of chronic inflammation. However, the certain mechanisms behind their biological activities, in vivo interaction (both between them and other food compounds), and their optimal doses and consumption are not well-known yet. Therefore, we review here the recent evidence accumulated during the last decade about the cooperative action between polyphenols and fish oils against diet-related metabolic alterations, focusing on the mechanisms and pathways described and the effects reported. The final objective is to provide useful information for strategies for personalized nutrition based on these nutraceuticals.
