Abstract
BACKGROUND The MALAT1 lncRNA acts as an oncogene in Prostate cancer (PC); thus, it can be severe as a cancer biomarker. METHODS Using bioinformatics datasets including (HTSeq-Counts, GDC, and TCGA) 5501 gene expression profiling specimens were gathered. Then, expression profiles and sample survival of lncRNA were investigated using COX regression analyses, ROC curve analysis. The Database for Annotation, Visualization, and Integrated Discovery was used to conduct GO and KEGG studies on the lncRNA-related PCGs. After MALAT1 Knockout via CRISPR/Cas9 technique, the MALAT1 expression was assessed in DU-145 cells. The deletion of the target fragment was examined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Also, the expression of apoptosis genes was investigated by qRT-PCR. The viability and cell proliferation were measured using the MTT assay. Cell migration capability was determined using the cell scratch assay. The results of qRT-PCR were assessed by the ΔΔCt method, and finally, statistical analysis was performed in SPSS software. RESULTS A maximum of 451 lncRNAs were discovered to reflect different expressions between PC and non-carcinoma tissue samples, with 307 being upregulated and 144 being down-regulated. Thirty-six lncRNAs related to OS were carefully selected, which were then subjected to stepwise multivariate Cox regression analysis, with 2 lncRNAs (MALAT1, HOXB-AS3). MALAT1 is highly expressed in PC cells. MALAT1 Knockout in DU-145 cells increases apoptosis and prevents proliferation and migration, and DU-145 transfected cells were unable to migrate based on the scratch recovery test. Overall, data suggest that MALAT1 overexpression in PC helps metastasis and tumorigenesis. Also, MALAT1 knockout can be considered a therapeutic and diagnostic target in PC. CONCLUSION Targeting MALAT1 by CRISPR/Cas9 technique inhibit the cell proliferation and migration, and in addition induce apoptosis. Thus, MALAT1 can act as a tumor biomarker and therapeutic target.

Abstract
Aim Gastrointestinal (GI) cancer is among the most common cancers in Iran. The main purpose of this study was to evaluate changes in the time trends of stomach, colon and rectum, and esophageal cancer during the past decade in Iran. Materials and Methods In this cross-sectional study, the study population was all cases of GI cancers diagnosed in Iran between 2004 and 2008. Cancer incidence data for the years 2004-2008 were obtained from the cancer registry system of the Ministry of Health. All incidence rates were directly age standardized to the world standard population. Age-Satndardized incidence rate (ASR)per 105 persons was calculated using direct standardization and the world standard population. The crude rate was calculated in this study. Data were analyzed using SPSS (version 17) and Microsoft Office Excel 2007. Results During the 2004-2008 period, the ASR and crude rates of GI cancers, including esophagus, stomach, colon and rectum, among males were 5.05, 15.02, and 8.29 and 4.01, 11.81, and 6.4, respectively, and among females were 6.52, 7.055, and 7.75 and 4.40, 4.85, and 5.49, respectively. The most common cancers in women were colon and rectum, and stomach cancer had the highest incidence in males. In this study, most cases of stomach cancer were adenocarcinoma adenocarcinoma (Nos) in both women and men. The most common type of colorectal cancer was adenocarcinoma, which was greater in men than women. The most common type of esophageal cancer was squamous cell carcinoma in both sexes. The north and northwestern regions of Iran have the highest risk of GI cancer. Conclusion According to this study, a significant increase was observed in the incidence of cancers in the north and western regions of Iran. Hence, screening and early detection programs are highly recommended in these high-risk areas.

Abstract
Chemotherapy is the main approach for the treatment of cancer; however, it often causes unpleasant oxidative damages. Therefore, the development of an effective alternative/complementary therapy with improved tumor suppression efficiency and lower adverse effects is highly required. Recently, it has been shown that Cyrtopodion scabrum extract (CsE) is an effective and selective tumor suppressor medicine. The present study investigated the antioxidant activity of Cyrtopodion scabrum homogenate (CsH) and CsE and their effects on attenuating 5-fluorouracil (5-FU)-induced liver dysfunction in rats. A total of 60 male rats (weight: 200-220 g) were divided into six groups and treated for 14 days. The control (group I) and 5-FU (group II) groups received distilled water and 5-FU, respectively. The other four groups were orally administered with CsE, CsH, CsE+5-FU, and CsH+5-FU (groups III to VI), respectively by gavages based on a daily schedule. The 5-FU-induced oxidative damage was evaluated by changes in the weight and food and water intake during the treatment and antioxidant parameters in the liver and serum of the treated rats. The obtained data indicated that the administration of CsH and CsE significantly improved liver function and defense system of antioxidants by attenuating the levels or activities of malondialdehyde, superoxide anion, aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, and alkaline phosphatase and decrease of superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase, glutathione S-transferase, total antioxidant capacity, glutathione, total protein, and albumin in the liver and serum, induced by 5-FU treatment. The obtained data of the current study suggested that CsH and CsE play a protective role in the imbalance elicited by 5-FU and can be used as alternative/complementary supplements with 5-FU to reduce oxidative damages which is the consequence of reactive oxygen species production in cancerous patients.

Abstract
PURPOSE The aim of this study was to estimate the incidence of colorectal cancers in Iran. The results of this study are based on a screening program that is being implemented in Isfahan province. MATERIAL AND METHODS In this study, about 137,000 people were screened for colorectal cancer and adenomatous polyps in 2 steps during the year 2018. RESULTS Based on the findings of this study, the incidence of adenomatous polyps was reported to be 389 (95% CI, 365-422) per 100,000 population. The incidence of adenomatous polyps was reported to be 483 (95% CI, 446-520) and 316 (95% CI, 286-346) in men and women, respectively (p < 0.001). Also, the incidence of colorectal cancer was reported to be 33 (95% CI, 23-42) per 100,000 population. The incidence of colorectal cancer in men and women was reported to be 41 (95% CI, 30-51) and 26 (95% CI, 17-34), respectively, indicating a statistically non-significant difference (p = 0.29). CONCLUSION Based on the result of this study, despite a low participation rate of the target population in the screening program, the incidence of adenomatous polyps and colorectal cancer is relatively high in the average-risk population.

Abstract
PURPOSE Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common cancers in the world. The aim of this study was to investigate its incidence and risk factors in the Iranian population. METHODS A literature search was conducted in PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, SID, and Magiran from inception until 2019. Studies that reported the incidence rate and risk factors of colorectal cancer were included in this review. RESULTS Twenty-one articles that reported the incidence rate and 13 that reported the risk factors were included. The incidence rate was different according to the population type, gender, age, and study year in different regions. The main risk factors for colorectal cancer were high consumption of red meat and fried food and low intake of fruits and vegetables, diabetes, a positive family history, and obesity. CONCLUSION The incidence of CRC has a marked variation in different parts of Iran, and various risk factors are associated with colorectal cancer. According to incidence rate and various risk factors, precise planning is needed to control colorectal cancer in the future.

Abstract
Return to work after completion of cancer treatments has many benefits for patients, families, and society. Readiness for return to work (RRTW) seems to be an effective factor for return to work in cancer survivors. Therefore, the present study was to investigate return to work and its relation to RRTW among Iranian survivors of cancer. This descriptive-correlational study examined a total of 227 survived cancer patients with completed primary treatments and without active cancer symptoms. Data were collected by the return to work and RRTW questionnaires and analyzed with descriptive statistics and inferential statistics using SPSS software. Upon completion of initial treatment, 166 (73.2%) of survivor participants returned to work, of which 78 (34.4%) and 88 (38.4%) participants returned to full-time and part-time works, respectively. ANOVA test showed a significant difference between RRTW and the type of return to work. In addition, results of regression analysis revealed that there was a positive significant relationship between RRTW and the rate of return to work before and after the adjustment of variables (p ≤ 0.05). Considering the findings of the study, there is a necessary need planning for rehabilitation programs by nursing managers concerning these patients to facilitate their return to work.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most common cancers in Iran. Knowledge of the epidemiology of the disease is essential in planning for prevention. So this study aimed to investigate the epidemiological aspects of gastric cancer including prevalence, incidence, mortality, and risk factors of Iran. METHODS This systematic review study was based on articles published in both English and Persian languages during the years of 1970-2020 in international databases (PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus) and national databases (including SID, Magiran, and IranDoc). Papers related to epidemiological aspects of the disease including mortality, prevalence, incidence, and risk entered the final review. RESULTS According to the studies, the minimum and maximum prevalence of gastric cancer in northwestern Iran (Ardabil) is between 0.2 and 100 per 100,000. Also, the death rate per 100,000 people ranged from 10.6 to 15.72 and the ASMR ranged from 4.2 to 32.2%. On the other hand, the incidence of GC was higher in men than in women (74.9 vs 4.6%). The GC risk ratio was 8-times higher in the elderly than in the other age groups (HR=8.0, 2.7-23.5). The incidence of gastric cancer in patients with H. pylori infection was 18-times and that of smokers 2-times higher than other populations. Low level of economic situation and food insecurity increased the odds of GC by 2.42- and 2.57-times, respectively. It should be noted that there was a direct relationship between consumption of processed red meat, dairy products, fruit juice, smoked and salty fish and legumes, strong and hot tea, and consumption of salt and gastric cancer incidence. There was also an inverse relationship between citrus consumption, fresh fruit, garlic, and gastric cancer. In addition, the mRNA genes are the most GC-related genes. CONCLUSION Given the high incidence of GC in Iran, changing lifestyle and decreasing consumption of preservatives in food, increasing consumption of fruits and vegetables, and improving the lifestyle can be effective in reducing the incidence of this disease.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The tumor suppressing protein p53 and its downstream effector p21 play important roles in cell cycle regulation. Deficiency or deactivation of these proteins as a result of gene alterations has been indicated in several cancers. Such genetic variations could be considered as susceptibility indicators in acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL). Therefore, we investigated the associations between ALL risk and TP53 codon 72, p21 codon 31, and MDM2 SNP309 polymorphisms in an Iranian population. METHODS Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) was used to determine the MDM2 T309G (rs2279744), TP53 codon Arg72Pro (rs1042522), and p21 Ser31Arg (rs1801270) single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). This study was performed in 115 ALL patients and 115 healthy controls in Khuzestan province in southwest Iran. RESULTS In the control group and ALL patients, p21 Ser/Arg, and MDM2 TG and GG genotypes were associated with significant 1.81-fold (95% confidence interval CI= 1.008-3.267; P < 0.05), 11.07-fold (95% CI= 5.10-24.05; P < 0.0001), and 19.41-fold (95% CI= 8.56-43.99; P < 0.0001) increased risks for ALL, respectively. The TP53 72 Arg allele was significantly more prevalent in ALL patients (56.96%) than in control subjects (47.39%), and was significantly associated with ALL (OR= 1.47; 95% CI = 1.017-2.121, P < 0.05). CONCLUSION The MDM2T309G and the p21 Ser31Arg SNPs indicate a significantly increased risk for developing ALL in Khuzestan province.

Abstract
BACKGROUNDS Throughout the world, there exists a clear need for the maintenance of cancer statistics, forming an essential part of any rational programme of cancer control, health-care planning, etiological research, primary and secondary prevention, benefiting both individuals and society. The present work reports only on the prevalence of cancers in the Oncology Department of Jamhuriyat Hospital, Kabul, Afghanistan following several decades of war. MATERIALS AND METHODS A quantitative retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted using the medical records of patients diagnosed and treated from October 2015 to December 2017. Data includes information on gender, age, economic status, address and types of cancer diagnosed. The data was transferred to a customized form and analysed using Microsoft Excel program to classify cancer types. RESULTS The total number of patients with completed documents were 1025. Of these, 403 (39.3%) were male and 622 (60.7%) female. Most of the patients were in the age range of 20-70 years old. The most common cancers in women were breast cancer (45.8%), followed by oesophagus (12.5%), colorectal (4.8%), Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (4.7%), sarcoma (4.7%), ovary (3.8%), both stomach and liver (2.6%) and cervix uteri (1.9%). Contrarily to men, esophageal cancer was highest (21.8%), followed by stomach (12.2%), Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (9.4%), sarcoma (8.9%), gastroesophageal junction (8.9%), colorectal (8.6%), Hodgkin lymphoma (4.7%), testis (4.2%), liver (3.2%), lung (2.7%) and Nonmelanoma skin squamous cell carcinoma 9 (2.2%). CONCLUSION Results showed that the most frequent cancers among Afghans were breast and oesophagus. The most common cancer in men was oesophagus and stomach at the age range of 50-70 years while in women, breast and oesophagus cancers were common and within the age range of 25-65 years old.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers among men. There are various estimates of prostate cancer incidence from different geographical areas in Iran. In addition, no systematic reviews are available regarding the incidence rate of prostate cancer in Iran. Therefore, the present systematic review aimed to address this epidemiological gap. METHOD This systematic review was performed based on the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses in July 2017. In doing so, the researchers searched Medline/PubMed, Scopus, Embase, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar for international articles and four Iranian databases (Scientific Information Database, MagIran, IranMedex, and IranDoc) for Persian articles. RESULT A total of 274 titles were retrieved in the initial search of the databases. Further refinement and screening of the retrieved studies produced a total of 21 studies. Based on the random-effect model, the age-standardized rate of prostate cancer was 9.11 and 95% confidence interval was 8.19-10.04. Besides, the results of Cochran's test indicated the heterogeneity of the studies (Q = 1457.8, df = 46.0, I2 = 96.8%, P < 0.001). CONCLUSION The incidence of prostate cancer was lower in Iran than in the other parts of the world. Yet, establishing cancer registries covering a broader perspective of the population and conducting further studies are required to map out the exact incidence rate and trend of prostate cancer in Iran.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to assess the relationship between religiosity and quality of life (QoL) in patients with breast cancer in a Muslim population. METHODS This descriptive-correlational study was conducted in 84 Muslim patients with breast cancer who were admitted to Ahvaz Shafa Hospital, Iran, during 2015. QoL and religiosity were measured with the Short Form-36 questionnaire and Muslim Religiosity questionnaire based on the Glock and Stark model, respectively. Data were analyzed using a software program for descriptive statistics, the Chi-square test, Pearson's correlation, and an independent sample t-test. RESULTS Most patients had high religiosity (69%) and moderate QoL (46.5%) scores. Total scores and all subscales scores for QoL were significantly higher in patients with high religiosity than patients with moderate religiosity (P < 0.0001). Moreover, a direct correlation was found between religiosity (total and all subscales) and QoL (total and all subscales) (P < 0.0001). CONCLUSIONS A significant relationship was found between religiosity and QoL in patients with breast cancer. Accordingly, care team members, especially midwifery and nursing staff, should pay more attention to religious beliefs among these patients to improve their QoL.

Abstract
The bark of Pinus massoniana is a traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of various health disorders. Previous studies have demonstrated that P. massoniana bark extract (PMBE) may induce the apoptosis of hepatoma and cervical cancer cells. However, whether PMBE is able to inhibit the migration of lung cancer cells requires further investigation. In the current study, the effects of PMBE on the viability of human lung cancer A549 cells were detected using an MTT assay. The migration of lung cancer cells following exposure to PMBE were quantified using wound healing and Transwell assays, respectively. The expression levels of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-9 were determined using western blotting. The results revealed that PMBE significantly inhibited the growth of the lung cancer cells. In addition, the wound closure rate and the migration of the lung cancer cells were suppressed by PMBE. Furthermore, the expression levels of MMP-9 were reduced. These findings indicated that PMBE is able to restrict the migration and invasion of lung cancer cells, and that PMBE may serve as a novel therapeutic agent for patients with metastatic lung cancer in the future.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Chemoradiotherapy is an important treatment modality for lung cancers. The aim of this study was to investigate alterations in, as well as the interrelationship between, lung function and quality of life of patients receiving chemoradiotherapy due to locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC) limited to the thorax. MATERIALS AND METHODS The study included patients receiving definitive chemoradiotherapy for lung carcinoma. The respiratory function of the patients was assessed by measuring forced expiratory volume in 1 s per unit (FEV1) and forced expiratory volume in 1s per unit of vital capacity (FEV1/VC) before, in the middle of and after treatment. During the study, EORTC QLQ C30 and LC13 questionnaires developed by the Committee of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) were employed to evaluate the quality of life on the same day as respiratory function tests (RFT). FINDINGS The study included 23 patients in total: 19 (82.6%) diagnosed with NSCLC and 4 (17.4%) with SCLC. The average percentage FEV1 was 55.6±21.8% in the pre-treatment period, 56.2±19.2% in the middle of treatment and 60.4±22% at the end of treatment. The improvement in functional scores, symptom scores and general health scores during treatment was not statistically significant (P=0.568, P=0.734, P=0.680, P=0.757 respectively). CONCLUSIONS Although this study showed an improvement in respiratory function and quality of life of patients during treatment with thoracic chemoradiotherapy, no statistically significant results were obtained. While evaluating the effectiveness of treatments for lung carcinoma, the effects of treatment on respiratory function and quality of life should be considered.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Very few analytical studies are available on any association between stressful life events (SLE) and colorectal cancer (CRC), at least in Iran. The aim of this case control study was to determine the association between stressful life events (SLE) and colorectal cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS This study was conducted in four hospital colonoscopy units in Tabriz city of Iran including 414 participants aged 40-75 years: 207 cases with CRC confirmed by pathology and colonoscopy findings and 207 controls free of neoplastic conditions were selected (from the same hospitals at the same period for the cases and after matching for age and sex). Stressful life events were assessed using a 43-item Holmes and Rahe Life Events Questionnaire. Multivariate logistic regression was used to estimate adjusted odds ratios for SLE and risk of CRC. RESULTS The stressful life event mean score in the case group was 141.3, in contrast to 63.8 in the control group (p<0.011). After adjusting for confounders, death of dear ones increased the risk of CRC (OR: 2.49; 95%CI: 1.41-5.13). Other types of stressful life events (family and husband disputes, serious occupational problems, unemployment of >6 months, and Serious financial problems) were also associated with CRC, but without statistical significance. CONCLUSIONS According to our findings, it seems that SLE may increase the risk of CRC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cancer is one of the most important causes of mortality worldwide. It includes approximately 13% of death cases. This study aimed to investigate the incidence trend of common cancers in Iran during 2004-2008 to improve reporting distribution the disease. METHODS This was a retrospective study. The study population was all cases of cancer diagnosed in Iran during 2004-2008. The crude incidence rate of cancers was calculated per 100 000 people by age groups and sex. Age-standardised incidence rates (ASRs) were calculated using direct standardisation and the world standard population. Data were analysed using SPSS (version 17) and Microsoft Office Excel 2007. RESULTS In this study, a total of 301 055 cases of cancer were diagnosed. ASRs were 60.51 and 84.51 in women and men respectively. Most common cancers in men were skin (ASR = 18.85), stomach (15.02), bladder (ASR = 11.25), prostate (ASR = 8.93) and colorectal (ASR = 8.29). Most common cancers in women were breast (ASR = 18.24), skin (ASR = 12.01), colorectal (ASR = 7.75), stomach (ASR = 7.05) and haematocyte (ASR = 4.01). CONCLUSION A significant increase was observed in the incidence of cancers in the country. Therefore, it is necessary to perform screening, early diagnosis and treatment in early stages of cancers.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in Iran. The increasing trend of colorectal cancer incidence in Iran and the close relationship with the geographical location are the underlying reasons for this study. METHODS DATA SOURCE Eleven databases, including MEDLINE, EMBASE, SCOPUS, and four other databases, for articles in Persian were searched from April 2014 to October 2014. Additional data were obtained from an online survey of the Central Library of Tabriz Faculty of Medicine. STUDY ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we included studies reporting different measures of incidence, age-standardized incidence rates, and crude incidence rates. All rates (per 100,000 person-years) were standardized to the world standard population. STUDY APPRAISAL AND SYNTHESIS METHODS A preliminary review of the title and abstracts of these articles was used to exclude any that were clearly irrelevant. The full text review determined whether the article was relevant to our topic. All the potentially relevant manuscripts were reviewed by two other investigators (S.D., M.G.). A total of 39 studies (10 Persian and 29 English articles) from different provinces and diverse areas of Iran, were analyzed in this study using comprehensive meta-analysis software. For accuracy studies, we used estimated rates for males and females with 95 % confidence intervals. RESULTS Age-standardized incidence rates were obtained based on the random effects model and were 8.16 (95 % CI: 6.64 to 9.68) and 6.17 (95 % CI: 5.01 to 7.32) for males and females, respectively. The random crude rates were 5.58 (95 % CI: 4.22 to 6.94) for males and 4.01 (95 % CI: 3.06 to 4.97) for females. CONCLUSIONS Colorectal cancer incidence rates rise due to individual and environmental risk factors as well as improvement in the registry system and increase in access to health services. A more executed organized and structured system for collecting cancer data, in all cities and rural areas of the country, is an essential priority.

Abstract
Rates based on age-adjusted incidence of colorectal cancers over a 10-year period in Kerman, the biggest province of Iran, were estimated from 2003 to 2013. Data were obtained from the population-based cancer registry unit of Kerman University of Medical Sciences (CR-KMU). Information included age, sex, city, ICD-O and year of registry. Our trend analyses cover 3.91% of the Iranian population. The data set comprised cases diagnosed from 2003 to 2013.The population of over 20 years was interpolated using 2003 and 2010 censuses. Then, truncated age-adjusted incidence rates were calculated. Increase was noted from 2003-2009 to 2010-2013 for 731 cancer cases considered in the analysis. The increases was most prominent in 2009. Totally, the frequency of the cancer was greater in males. Moreover, calculating truncated age-adjusted incidence rate indicated that the most prevalent age of colorectal incidence was in the 50-59 year age group except in 2007-2008 and 2012- 2013, when greatest incidences occurred in people aged 60-69 years. Our data revealed that the incidence rates of colorectal cancer have increased over the past decade in our region of Iran.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Cancer is a major public health problem in Iran and many other parts of the world. The cancer incidence is different in various countries and in country provinces. Geographical differences in the cancer incidence lead to be important to conduct an epidemiological study of the disease. This study aimed to investigate cancer epidemiology and trend in the province of Qom, located in center of Iran. METHOD This is an analytical cross-sectional study carried out based on re-analysis cancer registry report and the disease management center of health ministry from 2004 to 2008 in the province of Qom. To describe incidence time trends, we carried out join point regression analysis using the software Join point Regression Program, Version 4.1.1.1. RESULTS There were 3,029 registered cases of cancer during 5 years studied. Sex ratio was 1.32 (male to female). Considering the frequency and mean standardized incidence, the most common cancer in women were breast, skin, colorectal, stomach, and esophagus, respectively while in men the most common cancers included skin, stomach, colorectal, bladder, and prostate, respectively. There was an increasing and significant trend, according to the annual percentage change (APC) equal to 8.08% (CI: 5.1-11.1) for all site cancer in women. CONCLUSION The incidence trend of all cancers was increasing in this area. Hence, planning for identifying risk factors and performing programs for dealing with the disease are essential.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Non-Hodgkins lymphoma (NHL) is a heterogeneous group of malignancies, originating in the lymphatic organs, whose incidence is increasing in developed as well as developing countries. Epidemiological evidence suggests that aspirin may reduce the incidence and mortality of several cancers. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the potential relationship between using aspirin and development of NHL with a meta-analysis. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 7 studies were included. Outcome was calculated and reported as odds ratios (ORs). Heterogeneity was assessed with Cochrane Q and I2 statistics. Dissemination bias was evaluated by funnel plot visualization and trim-and-fill analysis. RESULTS Our analysis showed OR of developing NHL overall of 1(95% CI: 0.87-1.16, p=0.9), and in females this was 0.81 (95%CI: 0.72-.92, p=0.001) and in males 1.01 (95%CI: 0.82-1.26, p=0.86). The odds ratio (OR) of chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL/SLL) was 0.85 (95%CI: 0.75-0.97, p=0.02), The ORs of follicular lymphoma (FL) and large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) in individuals exposed to aspirin were 1.12 (95%CI: 0.86-1.45, p=0.37) and 1.03 (95%CI: 0.9-1.19, p=0.6) respectively. CONCLUSIONS In conclusion, individuals taking aspirin do not demonstrate any change in risk of Non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cancer is a leading cause of death throughout the world. Increasing life expectancy and aging population are important factors for increasing cancer incidences in developing countries. National programs are essential for prevention and control of cancer in any society. This study aimed to investigate cancer epidemiology and trends in the province of Hamadan, located in Northwest Iran. MATERIALS AND METHODS This analytical study was carried out based on cancer registry data from 2004 to 2009 in the province of Hamadan, analyzed using STATA (version 12) software for descriptive tests and Join point 4.1.1.1 software for analytical tests. RESULTS There were 7,767 registered cases of cancer during the 6 years studied. Of the total cases registered, 59.1% (4,592 cases) involved men and 40.9% (3,175 cases) occurred in women. Age-standardized incidence rates (ASR) increased from 72.9 to 132.0 in males and 48.2 to 115.0 in females during the 6 years of the study (p<0.001). The most common cancers were skin, stomach, breast, bladder, and leukemia. In women, teh most common were breast, skin, stomach, colorectal, and leukemia, in that order, and in men skin, stomach, bladder, leukemia, and prostate cancers. CONCLUSIONS The cancer incidence is greater in men that women in this region but with increasing trends in both sexes. Planning regarding education in prevention of exposure to risk factors and control strategies is required to decrease the incident cases. Screening programs for common cancers in older age groups might be helpful to reduce the disease impact.

Abstract
BACKGROUND According to increase in elderly populations, and change in lifestyle and cancer-causing behavior, the global burden of cancer is increasing. For prevention and control of disease, knowledge of population statistics of cancers and their trends is essential. This study aimed to investigate the epidemiology and trends of cancer in the province of Kerman: southeast of Iran. MATERIALS AND METHODS This analytical and cross-sectional study was carried out based on cancer registry data at the Disease Management Center of the Health Ministry from 2004 to 2009 in the province of Kerman in Iran. Common cancers were defined as the number of reported cases and standardized incidence rates. To compute the annual percentage change (APC), joinpoint 4.1.1.1 software was applied. RESULTS Of 10,595 registered cases, 45.3% (4802 cases) were in women and 56.7% (5,793 cases) occurred in men. The standardized incidence rates for both females and males were increasing during the six years studied. The most common cancers in both sexes during six years of studied were skin (13.4%), breast (9.35%), bladder (7.8%), stomach (7.45%), leukemia (7.05%), colorectal(5.57%), lung(4.92%), trachea(3.51%) and prostate(2.48%). CONCLUSIONS Our findings revealed that the cancer incidence is demonstrating increasing trends in both sexes in the province of Kerman. This may be because of changes in lifestyle, increasing exposure to risk factors for cancer and increase of life expectancy. If this is the case, increasing public awareness of cancer risk factors is a high priority, together with introduction of large-scale screening techniques.
