Abstract
BACKGROUND Perinatal depression (PND) is a common mental health problem, and eHealth interventions may provide a strategy for alleviating PND. AIM This meta-analysis aimed to determine the effect of eHealth interventions on PND. METHODS Six databases were searched to retrieve published randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on the effect of eHealth interventions on PND. A meta-analysis was performed on the data of these studies using a random effects model. RESULTS A total of 21 RCTs were included in the meta-analysis, which revealed that eHealth interventions significantly reduced antenatal depression (WMD = -1.64, 95 % CI [-2.92, -0.35], P = .013), postpartum depression (SMD = -0.41, 95 % CI [-0.52, -0.29], P < .001), anxiety (SMD = -0.39, 95 % CI [-0.51, -0.28], P < .001), stress (WMD = -2.93, 95 % CI [-4.58, -1.27], P = .001), and improved self-efficacy (SMD = 0.42, 95 % CI [0.21, 0.63], P < .001) compared with the control group. However, eHealth interventions did not significantly improve social support (SMD = 0.27, 95 % CI [-0.01, 0.56], P = .058). For antenatal depression, significant subgroup differences were observed in the digital platform and material presentation format. In addition, for postpartum depression, significant subgroup differences were found in the type of therapy. CONCLUSIONS The meta-analysis results suggest that eHealth interventions can relieve depression, anxiety, and stress symptoms and improve self-efficacy in perinatal women. However, these interventions did not improve social support. Additional high-quality studies on eHealth interventions in PND are needed to validate these results.

Abstract
Background Midwives may be key stakeholders to improve perinatal mental healthcare (PMHC). Three systematic reviews considered midwives' educational needs in perinatal mental health (PMH) or related interventions with a focus on depression or anxiety. This systematic review aims to review: 1) midwives' educational/training needs in PMH; 2) the training programs in PMH and their effectiveness in improving PMHC. Methods We searched six electronic databases using a search strategy designed by a biomedical information specialist. Inclusion criteria were: (1) focus on midwives; (2) reporting on training needs in PMH, perinatal mental health problems or related conditions or training programs; (3) using quantitative, qualitative or mixed-methods design. We used the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool for study quality. Results Of 4969 articles screened, 66 papers met eligibility criteria (47 on knowledge, skills or attitudes and 19 on training programs). Study quality was low to moderate in most studies. We found that midwives' understanding of their role in PMHC (e.g. finding meaning in opening discussions about PMH; perception that screening, referral and support is part of their routine clinical duties) is determinant. Training programs had positive effects on proximal outcomes (e.g. knowledge) and contrasted effects on distal outcomes (e.g. number of referrals). Conclusions This review generated novel insights to inform initial and continuous education curriculums on PMH (e.g. focus on midwives' understanding on their role in PMHC or content on person-centered care). Abstract
INTRODUCTION Continuing education is important to improve midwives' attitudes to trauma-informed care in addressing the needs of women during the perinatal period. This study aimed to evaluate if there was a significant difference in attitudes towards trauma-informed care between midwives who participated in a 2-day trauma-informed care education program and those who did not. METHOD A static group comparison design was adopted with a convenience sample of midwives to analyse differences in attitudes towards trauma-informed care between midwives who received a 2-day TIC education (n = 19, intervention group) and their peers who did not receive the education (n = 18, comparison group). RESULTS The results suggest that midwives who participated in a 2-day trauma-informed care education program had significantly higher scores for positive attitudes towards trauma-informed care compared to those who did not take part in the program and that this effect was sustained at 6 months. CONCLUSION To minimise perinatal trauma for mothers and babies, midwives require specific trauma-informed care education. This study proposes that trauma-informed care education is a foundational pathway for implementing a trauma-informed care framework across a maternity service.

Abstract
AIM The present study aimed to examine the effects of a mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) program and deep relaxation exercises on pregnancy-related anxiety levels. MATERIALS AND METHODS This randomized parallel-group controlled trial was conducted with 95 pregnant women (MBSR: n = 32, deep relaxation exercises: n = 31, control: n = 32) between 1 August and 15 October 2022 with pregnant women who were registered at the pregnancy outpatient clinics of a hospital in the Southeastern Anatolia Region of Türkiye. CONSORT guidelines were followed in our study. The participants in the MBSR group were given an eight-session MBSR program, consisting of two sessions per week for 4 weeks, whereas the participants in the deep relaxation exercises group were asked to do exercises at home with deep relaxation videos four times a week for 4 weeks. The participants in the control group received only routine prenatal care. RESULTS The mean PRAQ-R2 Fear of Giving Birth subscale scores of the participants in the MBSR and deep relaxation exercises groups after the intervention were lower than that of the participants in the control group. Additionally, the mean total PRAQ-R2, PRAQ-R2 Worries about Bearing a Physically or Mentally Handicapped Child subscale and PRAQ-R2 Concern about One's Own Appearance subscale scores of the participants in the MBSR group were found to be significantly lower than the scores of those in the deep relaxation exercises and control groups (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION The MBSR program is an effective method for reducing pregnancy-related anxiety levels. Additionally, deep relaxation exercises are alternative practices for reducing the fear of giving birth among pregnant women. TRIAL REGISTRATION NCT05447000.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Psychological treatments remain largely inaccessible to perinatal populations despite their robust effectiveness. This gap is partly due to the limited number of available treatment providers. In this review, we critically evaluate recent literature on task-sharing to peer providers and propose future directions. RECENT FINDINGS There is a growing evidence base demonstrating that peer providers can effectively deliver psychological treatments for perinatal populations, as well as engage in processes critical to quality assurance, such as measurement-based peer supervision. Findings have also highlighted some benefits of peers over licensed healthcare providers, such as enhanced collaborative relationships, reduced stigma, provision of social comparisons, and increased accessibility. Peer providers may be one solution to improve access to psychological treatments for perinatal populations. However, there is a need to address clinical, professional, and health-system level barriers to effectively leverage this cadre of treatment providers.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Various risk factors to perinatal mental health disorders have been described; however, there is a dearth of data on the perspectives of women themselves regarding what increases the risk of psychological distress. This qualitative study explores women's perceptions of factors that increase the risk of perinatal psychological distress. AIM The aim of this study was to elucidate women's perceptions of factors that increase the risk of perinatal psychological distress. METHODS A qualitative design with an exploratory and descriptive approach is used. Women (N = 188) aged 18 to 45 years who self-report experiencing perinatal psychological distress complete an online survey. RESULTS Perceived causes of perinatal psychological distress include: adverse experiences with childbirth and/or breastfeeding, negative attitudes of people close to the participant, financial and social challenges, health challenges, staff behavior in a maternity hospital, a challenging baby, family circumstances, and the new role as mother. CONCLUSION Women's perceived causes of perinatal psychological distress may allow for women-centered innovations in perinatal mental health care. The results highlight the need to train maternity staff regarding perinatal mental health and communication. These findings can serve as important guidelines on women-centered planning of innovations of perinatal mental health care. Interventions need to focus on the role of partners and others close to women so as to support the women during the perinatal period.

Abstract
AIM This study explores the profile of pregnant women interested in the online assessment of their emotional status according to their sociodemographic and obstetric characteristics, history of psychopathology, and healthcare setting used (private vs. public). DESIGN This is a comparative and descriptive cross-sectional study. METHOD Participants were 281 Spanish pregnant women assessed with the MamáFeliz (HappyMom) website. RESULTS Participants were probably to be unemployed, in a relationship, and generally had a high educational level and an intermediate economic status. Most of them were primiparous, had non-complicated natural pregnancies and presented healthy habits and good physical and emotional health, despite 31.3% of them had a history of psychological treatment. Our results reveal the profile of women interested in the online assessment of their emotional status, which can contribute to improving future initiatives to facilitate rapid screenings of perinatal mental health by nurses in both public and private settings.

Abstract
Anxiety symptoms are common among pregnant women worldwide. In the United States, prenatal anxiety symptoms tend to be elevated among Black and Latin American women as compared to non-Latina White women. Despite the high prevalence of anxiety and associations with adverse maternal and offspring outcomes, interventions have not been developed or tailored sufficiently to Black women or Latinas who need efficacious treatment. This article provides a scoping review of articles published since 2017 that test the effects of randomized and non-randomized psychological interventions designed to reduce prenatal anxiety in samples comprised primarily of ethnic/racial minority women. We also review published protocols of planned psychological interventions to reduce prenatal anxiety in order to highlight novel approaches. In addition to summarizing intervention efficacy and participant acceptability, we highlight gaps in the literature which, if addressed, could improve perinatal mental health equity. Finally, we discuss future directions in prenatal anxiety intervention science beginning preconception including intervention design and prevention models.

Abstract
Objective Perinatal depression is linked to poor maternal health and infant development outcomes. The World Health Organization recommends expanding the mental health education and training of primary care providers to improve the quality of perinatal depression care. The present study evaluated the effect of various psychological training methods on nurses' and midwives' competence in administering care to and alleviating symptoms in patients with perinatal depression. Methods A comprehensive search of the PubMed, MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, Web of Science, and CINAHL databases was performed. The data were independently extracted by two reviewers, and the critical appraisal tools of the Joanna Briggs Institute were used for quality assessment. Random-effects meta-analysis was conducted using Review Manager 5.4 software. Findings A total of 13 articles including 246 nurses and midwives and 4,381 perinatal women were reviewed. Care administered through both face-to-face (relative risk [RR] 0.70, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.61-0.74) and digital training (RR 0.44, 95% CI 0.26-0.74) significantly mitigated symptoms of perinatal depression. Significant benefits were observed after 3- to 5-day and 8-day training, for which the RR were 0.75 (95% CI 0.59-0.97) and 0.72 (95% CI 0.66-0.85), respectively. Studies with high intervention fidelity more effectively reduced the risk of depressive symptoms in perinatal women than those with low intervention fidelity. Key conclusions and implications for practice Compared with face-to-face, digital training methods were more effective in reducing the risk of depressive symptoms. High intervention fidelity and 3- to 5-day and 8-day training resulted in better outcomes. The present findings can serve as a reference for the design of psychological training programs for nurses and midwives to equip them with effective strategies for administering care to patients with perinatal depression.

Abstract
Aim To evaluate the effectiveness of nurses and midwives‐led psychological interventions on the perinatal depressive symptoms. Design A systematic review and meta‐analysis based on the PRISMA guidelines. Methods Six databases were searched, including PubMed, MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, Web of Science and CINAHL. The search date range was before 30 September 2019. We used the Cochrane risk of bias tool to evaluate the quality of the included studies and Review Manager software 5.3 to conduct a meta‐analysis. The data were pooled using a random‐effect model. Results Studies (N = 827) were retrieved with 12 studies included. Psychological interventions provided by nurses and midwives have a significant effect on reducing perinatal depressive symptoms (RR: 0.72, 95% CI [0.64–0.82]). Among the approaches of psychological intervention, supportive counselling was the most effective (RR: 0.58, 95% CI [0.42–0.80]). The best intensity of intervention was six to eight sessions (RR: 0.66, 95% CI [0.55–0.79]).
