Abstract
PURPOSE This study explored symptom clusters (SCs) and predominant symptoms in lymphoma survivorships at least 1 month after treatment. METHODS A cross-sectional trend study design was adopted. Inclusion criteria were participants who were over the age of 20, diagnosed with lymphoma, and 1 month after treatment concluded. The symptoms were assessed by the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy Scale-Lymphoma Subscale. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, latent profile analysis (LPA), and comparisons of means and frequencies of each symptom in each SC. RESULTS A total of 234 lymphoma survivors completed this study. Three SCs were identified at < 2 and > 5 years and two SCs at 2-5 years. Worrying about getting new symptoms and infections emerged as predominant symptoms across all SCs over time. This study provides insights into the symptom experiences of survivors of lymphoma and highlights the significant role of worry-related symptoms in their survivorship. CONCLUSION Through the use of LPA and a trend study design, we identified distinct SCs in lymphoma survivors, providing valuable insights into their longitudinal symptom experiences. The findings emphasize the complexity of symptomatology in lymphoma survivorship and underscore the importance of employing advanced statistical methods to explore and understand these clusters comprehensively, informing targeted interventions and improved care strategies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors (CS) face unique psychosocial challenges, which may affect their mental health. However, there are inconsistencies in AYA definitions and varying prevalence data on psychological distress, anxiety, and depression. We aimed to synthesize published literature on prevalence, risk, longitudinal changes, and predictors for these outcomes and estimate pooled prevalences. METHODS We searched for observational studies published in English before June 1 2022, in PubMed, PsycINFO, Scopus, and Web of Science. Two researchers extracted independently information on study characteristics, prevalence, and risk. The pooled prevalence (PP) of psychological distress, anxiety, and depression was estimated using random-effects models. Geographical region, treatment status, and assessment instruments were considered in stratified meta-analyses. RESULTS Sixty-eight studies were included in the systematic review and 57 in the meta-analyses. We estimated an overall prevalence of 32% (n = 30; 4226/15,213 AYAs; 95% CI, 23%-42%; I2 = 99%) for psychological distress, 29% for anxiety (n = 24; 2828/8751 AYAs; 95% CI, 23%-36%; I2 = 98%), and 24% (n = 35; 3428/16,638 AYAs; 95% CI, 18%-31%; I2 = 98%) for depression. The range of PP of psychological distress varied across geographical regions, treatment status, and assessment instruments. The PP of anxiety varied significantly across continents, while no variations were seen for depression. Studies found higher risks for psychological distress, anxiety, and depression in AYAs compared to older cancer survivors or cancer-free peers. CONCLUSIONS Our research found that one in three AYA-CS experience psychological distress or anxiety and one in four are affected by depression, highlighting the need for specialized psychological services for AYA-CS in oncology settings and AYA-focused interventions.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study investigated the incidence of fatigue, insomnia, depression, anxiety, and stress symptoms in patients after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AHSCT), as well as explored potential relationships among these symptoms. METHODS A total of 126 patients who had undergone transplantation at a university hospital at least one month prior to the study's commencement were included. The study was conducted as a cross-sectional and relational research, and data were collected using the "Personal Information Form," "Brief Fatigue Inventory," "Insomnia Severity Index," and "Depression Anxiety Stress Scale." Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, parametric and nonparametric tests, and correlation analyses using the Spearman Correlation Coefficient. Additionally, mediation analyses were conducted using a Structural Equation Model to explore potential causal relationships among the variables. RESULTS The incidence of fatigue was high among patients, with 94% experiencing this symptom following transplantation. Additionally, 52% had anxiety, 47% had insomnia, 47% had depression, and 34% had stress. Moderate relationships were observed between these symptoms. Regression analysis revealed that one-point increase in fatigue was associated with increases in stress 1.065 points, depression 0.937 points, anxiety 0.956 points, and insomnia 0.138 points (p<0.001). Similarly, one-point increase in insomnia was associated with increases in fatigue 3.342 points, stress 0.972 points, depression 0.885 points, and anxiety 0.816 points (p<0.001). CONCLUSION After AHSCT, fatigue was the most frequent symptom experienced by patients, followed by insomnia, depression, anxiety, and stress. There was a relationship between these symptoms. Additionally, evidence suggested that insomnia was more strongly associated with fatigue compared to the other symptoms.

Abstract
Lymphoma in pregnancy is a rare and challenging diagnosis that complicates ∼1:6000 pregnancies; posing a series of unique therapeutic, social, and ethical challenges to the patient, her family, and the medical professionals involved. These difficulties are compounded by the paucity of real-world data on the management of LIP, and a lack of relevant support systems for women in this setting. We conducted a retrospective multicenter qualitative study, interviewing women aged ≥18 years of age diagnosed with Hodgkin (HL) or non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) during pregnancy or within 12 months postpartum, between 1 January 2009 and 31 December 2020 from 13 Australasian sites. Semi-structured telephone interviews were conducted, recorded, and analyzed using QSR Int NVivo 12 Pro (March 2020, USA) to quantify salient themes. Of the 32 women interviewed, 20 (63%) were diagnosed during pregnancy (16, 34, and 13% in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimesters, respectively), while 12 (37%) were diagnosed post-partum. Women recalled that their chief concerns at diagnosis were the welfare of their child (n = 13, 41%) and a fear of dying (n = 9, 28%). Perceived diagnostic delay attributed to pregnancy was reported by 41% of participants. Other key themes were communication, educational materials, psychosocial supports, and oncofertility issues. To our knowledge this is the first report capturing the lived experiences of survivors of lymphoma during pregnancy, affording a unique opportunity to consider the management, psychosocial supports, and delivery of care to meet the needs of these women.What is the NEW aspect of your work? Abstract
INTRODUCTION The present review aimed to establish prevalence rates of anxiety and depression in adults with haematology cancer, with a focus on the differences between patients under treatment and patients under watchful waiting. METHOD Five databases (Scopus, Medline, PsycINFO, EThOS, CINAHL) were searched throughout June 2021. Key search terms included haematology cancer, anxiety, depression, in treatment and watchful waiting. Study and sample characteristics, prevalence rates and mean self-reported scores of anxiety and depression data were extracted. RESULTS A total of 18 eligible papers were included in the review. Quality appraisal indicated papers were of adequate standard. Depression data from 2720 participants (14.5% under watchful waiting) and anxiety data from 2520 participants (15.9% under watchful waiting) were analysed through subgroup meta-analyses. The prevalence of anxiety was 34% amongst adults receiving treatment and 24.5% amongst those under watchful waiting. The prevalence of depression amongst adults receiving treatment was 31.3%, significantly higher than 16.1% of adults under watchful waiting. CONCLUSION Overall, adults with haematology cancer were at greater risk of experiencing anxiety and depression than the general population, with greatest risk in those under treatment. The findings indicate the need for future research to examine availability and effectiveness of targeted psychological interventions.

Abstract
Hematologic malignancy outcomes have remarkably improved in the past decade with further advancement expected in future years. However, the detrimental effects of financial toxicity (FT) on patients with hematologic malignancies, because of both diagnoses and subsequent treatments, have not been studied comprehensively. We performed a systematic review of all studies reporting FT as a primary or secondary outcome among adult or pediatric patients with hematological malignancies. A total of 55 studies met the inclusion criteria for analysis. Across studies, 20-50% of patients reported some form of FT, including loss of work productivity, food and transportation costs, and depletion of savings. Younger age, lower-income level, unemployment, and rural residence were the most commonly identified risk factors for FT. Two studies looked at survival outcomes, with one reporting improvement in survival with a decrease in financial toxicity. However, significant heterogeneity in FT definitions was found between countries and payor systems. Only half of the studies (51%, n = 28) used validated survey instruments such as the COST assessment. The present systematic review identified that FT is common in patients with hematological malignancies and may be associated with poorer outcomes. However, studies of FT generally use non-standardized methods with cross-sectional analyses rather than longitudinal, prospective assessments. Further work is needed to standardize FT reporting and investigate measures to alleviate FT among patients with hematologic malignancies.

Abstract
Purpose To summarise what is currently known about the psychosocial morbidity, experiences, and needs of people with cancer and their informal caregivers, who live in rural or regional areas of developed countries. Methods Eligible studies dating from August 2010 until May 2021 were identified through several online databases, including MEDLINE, EMBASE, PsychINFO, and RURAL (Rural and Remote Health Database). Results were reported according to the PRISMA guidelines and the protocol was registered on PROSPERO (CRD42020171764). Results Sixty-five studies were included in this review, including 20 qualitative studies, 41 quantitative studies, and 4 mixed methods studies. Qualitative research demonstrated that many unique psychosocial needs of rural people remain unmet, particularly relating to finances, travel, and accessing care. However, most (9/19) quantitative studies that compared rural and urban groups reported no significant differences in psychosocial needs, morbidity, or quality of life (QOL). Five quantitative studies reported poorer psychosocial outcomes (social and emotional functioning) in urban cancer survivors, while three highlighted poorer outcomes (physical functioning, role functioning, and self-reported mental health outcomes) in the rural group. Conclusion Recent research shows that rural people affected by cancer have unique unmet psychosocial needs relating to rurality. However, there was little evidence that rural cancer survivors report greater unmet needs than their urban counterparts. This contrasts to the findings from a 2011 systematic review that found rural survivors consistently reported worse psychosocial outcomes. More population-based research is needed to establish whether uniquely rural unmet needs are due to general or cancer-specific factors.

Prevalence and correlates of psychological distress, unmet supportive care needs, and fear of cancer recurrence among haematological cancer patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. Abstract
Background The COVID-19 pandemic has had a disruptive effect on people with haematological cancers, who represent a high-risk population due to the nature of their disease and immunosuppressive treatments. We aimed to identify the psychological impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on haematology patients and identify correlated factors to inform the development of appropriate supportive interventions. Methods Three hundred and ninety-four respondents volunteered their participation in response to a study advertisement distributed online through established haematology groups. Participants completed a self-report online survey exploring wellbeing, psychological distress, unmet supportive care needs, and fear of cancer recurrence. Results At least 1 in 3 respondents (35%) reported clinical levels of distress and nearly 1 in 3 (32%) identified at least one unmet need. Among respondents in remission (n = 134), clinical fear of cancer recurrence was reported by nearly all (95%). Unmet needs, pre-existing health conditions, younger age, financial concerns, and perceived risk of contracting COVID-19 were the dominant factors contributing to psychological distress during the pandemic. Psychological distress, lost income, perceived inadequate support from care team, perceived risk of contracting COVID-19, and being a woman were significantly associated with unmet needs. Psychological distress and concern about the impact of COVID-19 on cancer management were significantly associated with fear of cancer recurrence among respondents in remission. Conclusion Results highlight the high psychological burden and unmet needs experienced by people with haematological cancers during the COVID-19 pandemic and indicate a need for innovative solutions to rapidly identify distress and unmet needs during, and beyond, pandemic times. Abstract
BACKGROUND We conducted a survey to investigate the prevalence and factors associated with anxiety and depressive symptoms among patients hospitalized with hematological malignancies after chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy. METHODS In total, 130 eligible patients completed the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale and Self-Rating Depression Scale at week 4 after CAR-T cell infusion. We collected sociodemographic information during the same period. We studied factors associated with anxiety and depressive symptoms using logistic regression analysis. RESULTS The prevalence of anxiety and depressive symptoms at week 4 after infusion were 13.8% and 40.0%, respectively. A cutoff value of 50 or above indicates significantly anxiety and depressive symptoms. Binary logistic regression analysis showed that high school education and above (OR = 0.22, 95% CI = 0.06-0.78) and middle age (OR = 0.16, 95% CI = 0.03-0.90) were associated with lower risk of anxiety symptoms, and increased odds of depressive symptoms was associated with old age (OR = 11.39, 95% CI = 2.50-51.88), non-manual occupations before illness (OR = 3.72, 95% CI = 1.20-11.58), and higher healthcare expenditure (OR = 3.93, 95% CI = 1.50-10.33), while lower risk of depressive symptoms was associated with rural household location (OR = 0.25, 95% CI = 0.08-0.76) and being cared for by spouse (OR = 0.12, 95% CI = 0.02-0.63). CONCLUSIONS Patients receiving CAR-T therapy with lower education background, old ages, urban household location, or who used to work as non-manual workers require more attention and psychological care. Support from a spouse and medical expense deductions from the government may help patients develop positive attitudes.

Abstract
(1) Background: This systematic review was conducted to identify cancer patient experiences, and the impact of out-of-pocket costs and financial burden in Australia. (2) Methods: A systematic review, following the Preferring Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses, was conducted. Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature and PubMed were searched. The primary outcome was financial burden among cancer patients and their families in Australia. The secondary outcome was out-of-pocket costs associated with cancer care and treatment within the population sample, and the impact of financial burden. (3) Results: Nineteen studies were included, covering more than 70,000 Australians affected by cancer. Out-of-pocket costs varied by cancer type and ranged from an average of AUD 977 for breast cancer and lymphoedema patients to AUD 11,077 for prostate cancer patients. Younger aged patients (≤65 years), Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people in rural and/or remote areas, households with low income, those who were unemployed and people with private health insurance were at increased risk of experiencing out-of-pocket costs, financial burden or a combination of both. (4) Conclusions: Australians diagnosed with cancer frequently experience financial burden, and the health and financial consequences are significant. Focusing efforts on the costs of care and options about where to have care within the context of informed decisions about cancer care is necessary.

Abstract
Fear of cancer recurrence (FoR) is an important yet underestimated long term sequela that many cancer survivors suffer from. The continuous state of uncertainty the survivors might go through can lead to a serious impact on their quality of life (QoL), which is collectively referred to as Damocles syndrome. Given the increasing numbers of cancer survivors, it is crucial to understand the different psychological issues that face them, including Damocles syndrome. Herein, we review the current literature of Damocles syndrome specifically in hematologic cancer survivors. Although with inconsistent terms, current literature demonstrates the impact and the prevalence of Damocles syndrome on QoL of survivors of leukemia, lymphoma, and hematopoietic cell transplant. Interventional studies are very limited in this area. Moreover, hematologic malignancy survivors can also meet the diagnostic criteria of other psychiatric diseases, including depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder, wherein they should be managed accordingly. It is important to increase the awareness about Damocles syndrome and screen patients for it and other related psychological disorders. Additionally, this review has shown the need for standardization of Damocles syndrome definitions. Finally, the lack of interventional studies that target survivors' psychosocial challenges calls for prospective research to better address this rising problem.

Abstract
Background Some sub-types of haematological cancers are acute and require intensive treatment soon after diagnosis. Other sub-types are chronic, relapse over many years and require life-long cycles of monitoring interspersed with bouts of treatment. This often results in significant uncertainty about the future, high levels of depression and anxiety, and reduced quality of life. Little is known about how to improve care for haematological cancer survivors. This study explored qualitatively, in a sample of haematological cancer survivors, (i) their unmet needs experienced as a result of their disease and treatment; and (ii) strategies that may help address these needs. Methods Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 17 adult haematological cancer survivors. Data was analysed using qualitative content analysis. The Supportive Care Framework guided data collection and analysis. Results Participants had a mean age of 57 years (SD 13). Most were male (n = 10, 59%). Five themes emerged from the data: (i) changes in unmet needs across the care trajectory (with greatest unmet needs experienced soon after diagnosis, at discharge from hospital and with cancer recurrence); (ii) informational unmet needs requiring improved patient-centred communication; (iii) uncertainty about treatment and the future; (iv) coordinated, tailored and documented post-treatment care planning as a strategy for optimal care delivery; and (v) ongoing support services to meet psychosocial and practical unmet needs by involving peer support, less bureaucratic transport services and flexible work arrangements. Conclusions To our knowledge, this is the first qualitative investigation using the Supportive Care Framework to explore unmet needs of haematological cancer survivors. Our findings offer fresh insights into this important area of study. Written, take-home care plans which provide simple but tailored guidance on where to seek additional support may help decrease uncertainty and feelings of vulnerability post-treatment for adult haematological cancer survivors. Future research should further develop and test strategies aimed at addressing unmet needs of haematological cancer survivors identified in this study. Abstract
This narrative review provides an overview of the scope of psychosocial distress and stress in cancer patients and survivors and the potential negative consequences of untreated symptoms. Evidence-based interventions to treat these symptoms are reviewed, beginning with a summary of published clinical practice guidelines, followed by more detailed reviews of the specific integrative interventions with the largest empirical support: cognitive-behavioral stress management, yoga, mindfulness-based interventions, and massage. We also comment on use of natural health products because of their popularity. Finally, we conclude with recommendations to improve the quality of research in integrative interventions for stress management.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The organization of psychosocial care is rather complex, and its provision diverse. Access is affected by the acceptance and attitude of patients and professional caregivers toward psychosocial care. OBJECTIVES The aims of this study were to examine when patients with cancer experience quality psychosocial care and to identify circumstances in collaboration that contribute to patient-perceived positive psychosocial care. METHODS This study used a qualitative design in which semistructured interviews were conducted with patients, hospital workers, and primary health professionals. RESULTS Psychosocial care is often requested but also refused by patients with cancer. Based on this discrepancy, a distinction is made between psychosocial support and psychosocial interventions. Psychosocial support aims to reduce the chaos in patients' lives caused by cancer and is not shunned by patients. Psychosocial interventions comprise the formal care offered in response to psychosocial problems. Numerous patients are reluctant to use psychosocial interventions, which are often provided by psychologists. CONCLUSION Psychosocial care aims to assist patients in bearing the difficulties of cancer and its treatment. Patients prefer informal support, given often in conjunction with physical care. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE This study confirms the important role of nurses in promoting psychosocial care. Patients perceive much support from nurses, although nurses are not considered to be professional psychosocial caregivers. Being perceived as approachable and trustworthy offers nurses a significant opportunity to bring more intense psychosocial interventions within reach of cancer patients.

Abstract
Purpose. Patients with hematological malignancies often present with reduced muscle and physical functions, which are caused by the disease or related treatment. Moreover, patients with hematological malignancies rapidly develop low hemoglobin levels, and this may affect muscle and physical functions. This study aimed to identify the influence of hemoglobin levels on muscle and physical functions in patients with hematological malignancies. Methods. Using a cross-sectional study design, this study included 60 patients with hematological malignancies (mean age = 68.0 ± 10.2 years, women 56.7%) who were hospitalized for chemotherapy- and radiotherapy-related side effects and underwent examination for skeletal muscle mass (SMM), muscle strength, physical function, activities of daily living (ADLs), psychological status, and quality-of-life (QOL), including physical symptoms. Participants were divided into 3 groups according to tertiles of hemoglobin levels: low (n = 19), middle (n = 20), and high (n = 21). Evaluation items were compared among the 3 groups. Results. There was no significant difference among the 3 groups in terms of SMM. The low hemoglobin group showed significantly higher values of fatigue and dyspnea and lower values of muscle strength, ADLs, and QOL than the high hemoglobin group. Conclusions. Hemoglobin levels did not affect SMM; however, muscle weakness, decrease in physical function, physical symptoms such as fatigue and dyspnea, and decline in ADLs and QOL were observed in patients with low hemoglobin levels.

Abstract
Distress is defined in the NCCN Guidelines for Distress Management as a multifactorial, unpleasant experience of a psychologic (ie, cognitive, behavioral, emotional), social, spiritual, and/or physical nature that may interfere with the ability to cope effectively with cancer, its physical symptoms, and its treatment. Early evaluation and screening for distress leads to early and timely management of psychologic distress, which in turn improves medical management. The panel for the Distress Management Guidelines recently added a new principles section including guidance on implementation of standards of psychosocial care for patients with cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There is poor uptake of psychosocial interventions offered to people with cancer who record high scores on distress screening scales. Intervention uptake may be influenced by a mismatch between consumer (bottom-up) and professional (top-down) paradigms of wellbeing. The current research aims to compare cancer survivors' 'self-judgements' about their levels of anxiety, depression and stress, to classifications derived via a professional-driven measure, the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21). METHODS A cross-sectional study was undertaken with haematological cancer survivors recruited from three population-based cancer registries in Australia. Consenting participants were mailed a questionnaire package; and non-responders received a second questionnaire package after 3-weeks and a reminder call after 6-weeks. The consumer-driven perspective was assessed via three separate single items asking survivors to self-classify their levels of anxiety, depression and stress over the past week on a scale from 'normal' to 'extremely severe'. The professional-driven classification was assessed via the DASS-21. Kappa statistics were used to assess agreement between consumer- and professional-driven measures. RESULTS Of 2,971 eligible haematological cancer survivors, 1,239 (42%) provided written consent and were mailed a questionnaire package. Of these, 984 (79%) returned a completed questionnaire. The simple kappa for agreement between the DASS-21 and self-classified measures for anxiety was 0.47 (95% CI: 0.39 to 0.54, p<0.0001). The weighted kappa for agreement between the DASS-21 and self-classified measures of depression was 0.60 (95% CI: 0.53 to 0.67, p<0.0001) and for measures of stress was 0.51 (95% CI: 0.44 to 0.59, p<0.0001). CONCLUSIONS Moderate agreement between self-classification and professional-driven assessments was found. The value of screening is predicated on the assumption that those with identified needs will be offered and take up services that will benefit them. Our results suggest that to improve the utility of distress screening it may be important to include assessment of survivor views about their symptoms.

Abstract
CONTEXT Financial toxicity (FT) is used to describe the financial distress/hardship associated with cancer and its treatment. OBJECTIVES The aim of this review was to explore the relationship between FT and symptom burden. METHOD A systematic review was performed in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. We searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, and CINAHL (from January 2000 to January 2018) and accepted quantitative, mixed-methods and qualitative studies. Data were extracted and appraised by two reviewers. Owing to significant heterogeneity in the included studies, a narrative synthesis was performed. RESULTS Nine studies involving 11,544 cancer survivors were included. Of these nine studies, eight were of high quality. The relationships between FT and psychological symptoms and physical symptoms were examined in eight and three studies, respectively. Six studies reported a positive relationship between FT and depression. Three studies found a positive association between FT and anxiety. Limited evidence was found for an association between FT and stress, fear of recurrence, spiritual suffering, pain, and overall symptom burden. CONCLUSIONS A relatively clear association exists between FT and psychological symptoms. Clinicians should regularly screen for, assess, and manage emotional distress that may be attributed to FT. Although the causal pathway is not known, future intervention studies aimed at minimizing or preventing FT should evaluate psychological symptoms as secondary outcomes. Little is known about the relationships between FT and physical symptoms. Future research should overcome methodological limitations by incorporating longitudinal data collection, use of mixed-methods approaches, and homogeneity of samples.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE In this study, we investigated the muscle function of patients with haematological malignancy and healthy controls and examined the effect of cachexia on muscle function. METHODS Seventy-one patients with haematological malignancy, hospitalised for chemotherapy, and 71 healthy controls underwent examination of skeletal muscle mass (SMM; total body and upper and lower limbs), handgrip strength and isometric knee extensor strength. Patients with haematological malignancy were divided into three groups based on Glasgow Prognostic Score: non-cachexia (n = 31), pre-cachexia (n = 23) and cachexia (n = 17) groups. The evaluation items were compared among the groups. RESULTS Patients with haematological malignancy had lower SMM of the total body and lower limbs, handgrip strength and isometric knee extensor strength than healthy controls. There was no significant difference in SMM of the upper limbs among the groups. When classifying patients with haematological malignancy according to GPS, there was no significant difference among the three groups for any of the evaluation items. CONCLUSIONS In patients with haematological malignancy, although significant muscle wasting and weakness were observed in the lower limbs, the effect of cachexia was minimal. The reduction in muscle function involved disuse syndrome, which accompanied a decline in physical activity.

Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the effects of low-intensity exercise therapy (LIET) on the physical and mental symptoms and functions in patients with haematological malignancies undergoing chemotherapy. Forty-four patients hospitalised for chemotherapy performed LIET. The exercise intensity of LIET was defined as achieving <40% of the predicted maximum heart rate calculated using the Karvonen formula. LIET consisted of aerobic and resistance training, which was carried out on weekdays. The intervention was omitted in the case of poor general health status and strong patient refusal. Muscular and physical function, activities of daily living (ADLs), psychological distress and quality of life (QOL) were evaluated upon initiation of rehabilitation and at discharge. Participants were divided into high- and low-frequency groups according to their LIET frequency. Two-way repeated-measures analysis of variance was used for statistical analysis. In the high-frequency group, muscle function was maintained, while physical function, ADLs, psychological distress and QOL were significantly improved. However, in the low-frequency group, muscle function of the lower limb was significantly reduced and no other improvement was observed. Low-intensity exercise therapy could be a potential treatment strategy for patients with haematological malignancies undergoing chemotherapy who are unable to perform mid- or high-intensity exercise.

Abstract
This cross-sectional study analysed the contributors and moderators of quality of life. The sample comprised 124 Portuguese multiple myeloma patients assessed on social support, spirituality, unmet needs, psychological morbidity and quality-of-life measures. Results showed that being older and a woman, as well as psychological morbidity and unmet emotional needs were significant predictors of worse quality of life as measured by the QLQ-C30. Unmet financial needs moderated the relationship between psychological morbidity and quality of life. Results emphasize the importance of intervening in patients’ unmet emotional needs and psychological morbidity in order to promote quality of life, in this population.

Abstract
Most cancer survivors adjust well to life after cancer but some experience persisting negative mood, such as cancer-related fears, posttraumatic stress, anxiety, or depression. Mood fluctuations may not reach criteria for a clinical diagnosis but subclinical symptoms can interfere with quality of life. Women, adolescents, and young adults are particularly at risk for mood disturbances. Behavioral interventions, such as cognitive behavioral therapy and pharmacologic treatments, can effectively treat these distressing emotions. Much of the research on managing emotional needs after cancer has been completed with breast cancer survivors and more work is needed with diverse groups of survivors.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Due to medical advances and an aging population, the number of cancer survivors continues to rise. Survivors often experience late and long-term sequelae of cancer and its treatment (e.g., fatigue, pain, fear of recurrence, and stress). As a result, some patients have utilized or expressed interest in integrative medicine (IM) modalities for prevention of recurrence, optimizing health, enhancing quality of life, and managing symptoms. The purpose of this review is to focus on research published during the past year that informs our understanding of the utility of IM for cancer survivors. RECENT FINDINGS Physical activity, diet, dietary supplements, mind-body modalities, acupuncture, and massage therapy all may play a role in the management of the physical (e.g., fatigue and pain) and emotional (e.g., anxiety and fear) issues faced by cancer survivors. SUMMARY IM therapies are appealing to and utilized by many cancer survivors and may reduce symptom burden. Clinicians who provide cancer survivorship care may improve patient care by understanding the evidence for and against their use.

Abstract
Background It is well known that cancer patients tend to have high levels of perceived stress and symptoms of depression and anxiety. However, there is less study on the association between perceived stress and symptoms of depression and anxiety among ovarian cancer patients in China. And the mediating effect of hope and resilience needs to be further studied. In this study, we aim to examine the prevalence of depression and anxiety symptoms, to analyze the association between perceived stress and symptoms of depression and anxiety, and to test whether hope and resilience mediate the association of perceived stress with symptoms of depression and anxiety among Chinese patients with ovarian cancer. Method A total of 220 questionnaires were distributed and collected from the First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University and Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University. All participants in this study were ovarian cancer inpatients. After excluding the incomplete questionnaires, 198 questionnaires were valid for the analysis. Qualified patients were asked to response to the questionnaires including Hospital anxiety and depression scale (HADS), perceived stress scale (PSS-10), and the Herth hope scale and the resilience scale. Hierarchical regression analyses were used to test the associations among perceived stress, symptoms of depression and anxiety, and hope and resilience. Bootstrapping method was conducted to examine whether the indirect effect of hope and resilience was significant respectively. Results The prevalence of symptoms of depression and anxiety in ovarian cancer patients was 47.0% and 51.5% respectively. Perceived stress correlated significantly with symptoms of depression (r = 0.709, P < 0.01) and anxiety (r = 0.660, P < 0.01). Hope (a*b = 0.155, BCa 95% CI: 0.094, 0.223) partly mediated the association between perceived stress and symptoms of depression; similarly, hope (a*b = 0.129, BCa 95% CI: 0.048, 0.205) partly mediated the effect of perceived stress on symptoms of anxiety. However, resilience (a*b = 0.004, BCa 95% CI: -0.030, 0.040) did not mediate the association between perceived stress and symptoms of depression. And resilience (a*b = 0.041,BCa 95% CI: -0.013, 0.098) did not mediate the association between perceived stress and symptoms of anxiety. Conclusions The present study suggests that perceived stress might be one of the impact factors of symptoms of depression and anxiety, while hope might ease symptoms of depression and anxiety. In view of the role of hope, medical workers and patient caregivers should pay more attention to hope, and then to intervene perceived stress among patients with ovarian cancer.

Abstract
Background This study aimed to explore the factors affecting the level of hope and psychological health status of patients with cervical cancer (CC) during radiotherapy. Material/Methods A total of 480 CC patients were recruited. Psychological distress scale, Herth hope index, functional assessment cancer therapy-cervix, and Jolowiec coping scale were used to conduct surveys on psychological distress, level of hope, quality of life (QOL), and coping style to analyze the factors affecting the level of hope and psychological health status of CC patients. Results The morbidity of significant psychological distress in 480 CC patients during radiotherapy was 68%, and the main factors causing psychological distress were emotional problems and physical problems. During radiotherapy, most patients had middle and high levels of hope, and the psychological distress index of patients was negatively correlated with the level of hope. The QOL of CC patients during radiotherapy were at middle and high levels, and the QOL was positively correlated with confrontment, optimism, appeasement, and self-reliance, but it was negatively correlated with predestination and emotional expression. Conclusions For CC patients during radiotherapy, the morbidity of psychological distress was high, but they were at middle and high levels of hope.

Abstract
PURPOSE The purpose of the study is to examine the course of anxiety, depression and unmet needs in diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and multiple myeloma (MM) survivors in the first 2 years post diagnosis. METHODS DLBCL and MM survivors, recruited through the Victorian Cancer Registry, completed two interviews approximately 7 and 15 months post diagnosis. Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and Supportive Care Needs Survey (SCNS-SF34) were completed at both interviews. Primary outcomes were prevalence of anxiety, depression and unmet needs (any or moderate-high). Generalized estimating equation examined whether course of anxiety, depression and unmet needs differed between the two cancers. RESULTS Overall, 236 DLBCL and 178 MM survivors completed both telephone interviews. Course of anxiety differed (p < 0.01) with rate increasing in DLBCL (14 to 22%) while remaining stable for MM (15 to 12%). Course of depression also differed (p < 0.01), decreasing for MM (22 to 12%) and remaining stable for DLBCL (15 to 16%) survivors. Change in unmet needs was generally similar for the two cancer groups, except for moderate to high psychological needs (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Patterns of change in anxiety and depression in first 2 years post diagnosis differ for DLBCL and MM survivors. IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS Studying psychological outcomes in mixed haematological cancer samples may be inappropriate, at least in the early survivorship phase. Separate studies of the experiences of people with the different haematological cancer subtypes are needed to ensure psychosocial and supportive care interventions are appropriate to the needs of individuals with different haematological cancers.
