Abstract
BACKGROUND The prevalence and severity of perimenopausal symptoms are typically associated with multiple factors, including demographic characteristics. The sociodemographic characteristics of women living in rural areas differ from those residing in urban areas, and it has been suggested that these differences could potentially influence the prevalence of symptoms experienced during perimenopause. OBJECTIVES To evaluate if perimenopausal women living in Spanish rural areas have a higher prevalence of perimenopausal symptoms and assess their influence on health-related quality of life. METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted in a sample of 270 perimenopausal women residing in rural and urban areas. The participants completed the Cervantes Scale Short Version and Beck Depression Inventory 2. RESULTS Perimenopausal women in rural areas reported a higher incidence of perimenopausal symptoms and a lower perception of health-related quality of life compared to those in urban areas, as evidenced by higher scores on the total Cervantes Scale Short Version scale (33.2 (±16.2) vs. 26.4 (±18.1), p = .001). No differences in the Beck Depression Inventory 2 score were detected. CONCLUSIONS Perimenopausal women residing in rural areas of Spain reported a higher prevalence of perimenopausal symptoms and experienced a poorer Health-Related Quality of Life compared to those living in urban areas of Spain.

Abstract
The expanded version of the Inventory of Depression and Anxiety Symptoms (IDAS-II) is a self-report measure of 18 empirically derived internalizing symptom dimensions. The measure has shown good psychometric properties in adults but has never been evaluated in children and adolescents. A Swedish version of the IDAS-II was administered to 633 children and adolescents (Mage =16.6 [SD = 2.0]) and 203 adults (Mage = 35.4 [SD = 12.1]). The model/data fit of the 18-factor structure was excellent in both samples and measurement invariance across age groups was supported. All scales showed good to excellent internal consistency and psychometric properties replicated in the younger youth sample (< 16 years). Among youth, good convergent validity was established for all scales and divergent validity for most scales. The IDAS-II was better at identifying youth with current mental health problems than an internationally recommended scale of internalizing symptoms. In conclusion, the IDAS-II shows promise as a measure of internalizing symptoms in youth.

Abstract
STUDY OBJECTIVES to characterize possible differences in the function of the ANS in patients with chronic insomnia compared to a control group, using a wearable device, in order to determine whether those findings allow diagnosing this medical entity. METHODS Thirty-two patients with chronic insomnia and nineteen patients without any sleep disorder, as a control group, were recruited prospectively. Both groups of patients underwent an in-patient night with simultaneous polysomnography and wearable device recording Empatica E4 a diverse array of physiological signals, including electrodermal activity, temperature, accelerometry, and photoplethysmography, providing a comprehensive resource for in-depth sleep analysis. RESULTS In polysomnography, patients suffering from insomnia showed a significant decrease in sleep efficiency and total sleep time, prolonged sleep latency, and increased wakefulness after sleep onset. Accelerometry results were statistically significant differences in the three axis (x, y, z) just in stage N3, no differences were observed between both groups in REM sleep. The lowest temperature was reached in REM sleep in both groups. Peripheral temperature did not decrease during the different sleep phases compared to wakefulness in insomnia, unlike in the control group. Heart rate was higher in patients with insomnia than in controls during wakefulness and sleep stage. Heart rate variability was lower in stage N3 and higher in REM sleep compared to wakefulness in both groups. Sweating was significantly higher in patients with insomnia compared to the control group, as indicated by Skin Conductance Variability values and Sudomotor Nerve. CONCLUSIONS Our study suggests that patients with insomnia have increased sympathetic activity during sleep, showing a higher heart rate. Temperature and sweating significantly influence the different sleep phases.

Abstract
Background The Inventory of Depression and Anxiety Symptoms (IDAS-II) is a self-report measure comprising 99 items divided into 18 non-overlapping scales that allows for a dimensional assessment of depression, anxiety, and bipolar symptoms. The IDAS-II is currently available in English, Turkish, Spanish, German, and Swedish. This study's major goal was to adapt and validate the IDAS-II to the Romanian population. Method Participants from a community sample (N = 1,072) completed the IDAS-II (Romanian version) and additional measures assessing depression and anxiety disorders. Results Item-level factor analyses validated the unidimensionality of the scales, and internal consistency results indicated that most symptom scales had satisfactory alpha coefficient values. Based on previous structural analyses, a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) on the IDAS-II scales confirmed a three-component model of "Distress," "Obsessions/Fear," and "Positive Mood." Convergent and discriminant validity were established by correlational analyses with other symptom measures. Limitations This study was conducted using a sample from the general population and several of the employed measures have limitations. Specifically, the current study was unable to employ Romanian versions of the gold-standard instruments that assess well-being, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and claustrophobia. Conclusion The IDAS-II (Romanian version) is the first clinical measure to assess internalizing dimensions of the Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology (HiTOP) model that is available for the Romanian population.

Abstract
Tests and scales measuring psychological disorders should provide information about how scores relate to other constructs such as quality of life or functional impairment. Such information is necessary to allow that their scores contribute to clinical decision making. The current study analyzes the clinical utility of the Spanish version of the Inventory for Depression and Anxiety Symptoms (IDAS-II) to discriminate between different levels of functional impairment and identify the IDAS-II scales that contribute most to explaining impairment. The total sample (N = 1390) consists of two subsamples: a community sample of the general population (n = 1072) selected by random sampling; and a sample of patients (n = 318) from public and private mental health services. The Spanish IDAS-II for measuring internalizing symptoms and WHODAS 2.0 for measuring impairment were administered to all participants. All scales show statistically significant higher scores in the patient sample, with Cohen's d effect sizes values greater than 0.30, except for well-being (d = 0.19). The cutoff values and their confidence intervals do not overlap with the means of either the community or patient sample. AUC values for most of the scales are above .70, except for appetite gain, ordering, euphoria, cleaning, and well-being. Multiple linear regression model using IDAS-II scales explain 57.1% of the variance of the WHODAS 2.0 (F 12.1377 = 155.305; p < .001). Cutoff values provided allow us to reliably differentiate between the patients and community samples. Spanish IDAS-II scores show greater sensitivity and specificity in detecting those with greater impairment. General Depression, Lassitude, Panic and Claustrophobia contribute to impairment in a greater extent. Knowledge of which symptoms are most related with impairment, allows healthcare providers to improve treatment planning based on empirical evidence.

Abstract
Given that eating disorders (EDs) are relatively common in college populations, it is important to have reliable and valid tools to identify students so that they can be referred to evidence-based care. Although research supports the psychometric properties of existing ED screens for identifying cases of EDs, most studies have been conducted in samples of young white-majority women or have not reported the psychometric properties of the screening tool in men. OBJECTIVE The purpose of the current study was to validate a brief, 10-item screening tool for the identification of EDs-the brief assessment of stress and eating (BASE). METHOD Participants were college students (N = 596; 68.2% cisgender women) from a large Midwestern university who completed the BASE and SCOFF. The Eating Disorders Diagnostic Survey was used to generate DSM-5 ED diagnoses. We evaluated area under the curve (AUC) for both receiver operating curves (ROC) and precision-recall curves (PRC). RESULTS Both the BASE and SCOFF performed significantly better than chance at identifying probable EDs in cisgender women (BASE AUC: ROC = .787, PRC = .633, sensitivity = .733, specificity = .697; SCOFF AUC: ROC = .810, PRC = .684, sensitivity = .793, specificity = .701). However, the BASE (AUC: ROC = .821, PRC = .605, sensitivity = .966, specificity = .495) significantly outperformed the SCOFF (AUC: ROC = .710, PRC = .354, sensitivity = .828, specificity = .514) for identifying probable EDs in cisgender college men. DISCUSSION The BASE is appropriate for student healthcare and college research settings. Because the BASE outperforms the SCOFF in college men, results from the current study are expected to contribute to improved identification of EDs on college campuses. PUBLIC SIGNIFICANCE The BASE is a new screening tool to identify eating disorders. The BASE performed as well as, if not better than, the SCOFF (particularly in men). Given the need for brief, psychometrically strong, and unbiased ED screening tools in college students, the current study helps address an unmet student healthcare need that we expect will contribute to improved identification of EDs on college campuses.

Abstract
Negative emotional states (NES; i.e., depression, anxiety and stress) are likely contributors to the development of food addiction (FA). The association between NES and FA symptoms may be mediated by altered eating behaviors or by eating-to-cope motives. This study examined, in a sample of Argentinean young adults, the association between NES and FA symptoms via eating-to-cope motives and three patterns of eating behaviors. We also examined whether the model was invariant across college status. The transition from high school to college is usually associated with increased exposure to stress, which promotes the probability of engaging in altered eating behaviors. A sample of 499 Argentinean young adults (mean age = 24.9 ± 3.51 years) completed a survey that assessed FA symptoms, eating behaviors (i.e., uncontrolled, emotional, and restrained eating), eating-to-cope motives and NES. A path analysis tested the indirect association between NES and FA symptoms via uncontrolled, emotional or restrained eating, or by eating-to-cope. Stress and depression symptoms were indirectly associated with FA symptoms via uncontrolled eating and eating-to-cope motives. The model was invariant across college status. The findings suggest that NES are associated with FA symptoms by increasing uncontrolled eating and eating-to-cope motives. Young adults exhibiting greater depressive or stress symptoms, higher eating-to-cope, or higher uncontrolled eating may be at risk for FA. Future research should examine the significance of this pattern by tailoring interventions to these characteristics.

Abstract
Abstract
According to the literature, comorbidity rates observed on emotional disorders are linked to how the main diagnostic classification systems have traditionally defined these disorders. This paper aims to analyze the structure of symptoms evaluated with the Inventory of Depression and Anxiety Symptoms-II (IDAS-II) with network analysis. A mixed sample (n = 2021) of 1692 community adults and 329 patients was used. 14.79% (n = 299) of the sample met the diagnostic criteria for at least one DSM-5 mental disorder and 5.29% (n = 107) had diagnostic comorbidity. The sample was randomly divided into two sub-samples: estimation sample (n = 1010) and replication sample (n = 1011). The detection of community structures was carried out on estimation sample using the walktrap algorithm. Four local inference measures were estimated: Strength, one-step Expected Influence, two-step Expected Influence, and node predictability. Exploratory graphic analysis of modularity yielded an optimal solution of two communities on estimation sample: first linked to symptoms of depression and anxiety and second grouping symptoms of bipolar disorder and obsessive – compulsive disorder. Mania, Panic, Claustrophobia, and Low Well-Being Bridge emerged as bridge symptoms, connecting the two substructures. Networks estimated on replication subsamples did not differ significantly in structure. Dysphoria, Traumatic Intrusions and Checking and Ordering were the symptoms with greatest number of connections with rest of the network. Results sheds light on specific links between emotional disorder symptoms and provides useful information for the development of transdiagnostic interventions by identifying the influential symptoms within the internalizing spectrum.

Abstract
Stimulation of the vagus nerve, a parasympathetic nerve that controls the neuro-digestive, vascular, and immune systems, induces pain relief, particularly in clinical conditions such as headache and rheumatoid arthritis. Transmission through vagal afferents towards the nucleus of the solitary tract (NST), the central relay nucleus of the vagus nerve, has been proposed as the main physiological mechanism that reduces pain intensity after vagal stimulation. Chronic pain symptoms of fibromyalgia patients might benefit from stimulation of the vagus nerve via normalization of altered autonomic and immune systems causing their respective symptoms. However, multi-session non-invasive vagal stimulation effects on fibromyalgia have not been evaluated in randomized clinical trials. We propose a parallel group, sham-controlled, randomized study to modulate the sympathetic–vagal balance and pain intensity in fibromyalgia patients by application of non-invasive transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation (tVNS) over the vagal auricular and cervical branches. We will recruit 136 fibromyalgia patients with chronic moderate to high pain intensity. The primary outcome measure will be pain intensity, and secondary measures will be fatigue, health-related quality of life, sleep disorders, and depression. Heart rate variability and pro-inflammatory cytokine levels will be obtained as secondary physiological measures. We hypothesize that multiple tVNS sessions (five per week, for 4 weeks) will reduce pain intensity and improve quality of life as a result of normalization of the vagal control of nociception and immune–autonomic functions. Since both vagal branches project to the NST, we do not predict significantly different results between the two stimulation protocols.

Abstract
Inventory of Depression and Anxiety Symptoms-II (IDAS-II) constitutes a useful measurement tool with demonstrated psychometric properties that is contributing to the advancement of knowledge of emotional disorders within transdiagnostic models. To implement its use in clinical settings it is important that the scores can be interpreted in order to guide clinical decisions. This study aims to develops normative data for the Spanish version of the IDAS-II. An anonymous online survey was applied to 1,072 subjects, recruited through a stratified random sampling procedure taking into account population gender, age, and geographical region of Spain. Results show that women tend to score higher than men, particularly on the Dysphoria, General Depression, Appetite Gain, and Lassitude scales. Largest effect sizes for differences in the scores according to age were found for Lassitude, Dysphoria, and General Depression. Therefore, normative data according to gender and age group for each IDAS-II scale is provided. The norms provided in this work complement those already available, facilitating the decision-making of clinical professionals. Evidence of unidimensionality is provided for the 19 IDAS-II scales that allows researchers and clinicians to use specific IDAS-II scales independently.
