Abstract
A two colors, one-step, self-drive fluorescent strategy was developed for chloramphenicol (CAP) detection based on cyclic cleavage of molecular beacon (MB) by pincer DNA sequences. CAP can bind with its aptamer and active the enzyme-strand (E-DNA). Then the E-DNA can circularly cleave the MB on the both side of pincer DNA sequences. The cleaved fragments can self-assembly to form a long duplex and cause the great recovery of the two colors fluorescent signal. The limit of detection was as low as 0.7 pM. Importantly, the whole detection process is very simple with only one-step operation. Moreover, the two colors fluorescent signals can greatly enhance the accuracy of the result. It was also successfully used to detect CAP in actual samples.

Abstract
The rapid quantification of antimicrobial agents is important for therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM), enabling personalized dosing schemes in critically ill patients. Highly sophisticated TDM technology is becoming available, but its implementation in hospitals is still limited. Among the various proposed techniques, surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) stands out as one of the more interesting due to its extremely high sensitivity, rapidity, and fingerprinting capabilities. Here, we present a comprehensive review of various SERS-based novel approaches applied for direct and indirect detection and quantification of antibiotic, antifungal, and antituberculosis drugs in different matrices, particularly focusing on the challenges for successful exploitation of this technique in the development of assays for point-of-care tests.

Abstract
To improve the sensitivity for electro-chemiluminescent (ECL) detection of chloramphenicol (CAP), a common broad-spectrum antibiotic, boron nitride quantum dots (BNQDs) were prepared with excellent photoelectric property and low toxicity. After its structure and electrochemical property were investigated in detail, it was noted that the ECL signal of Ru(Phen)32+could be strengthened by the proposed BNQDs, which was further activated by ten's times in the presence of CAP. Under the optimized conditions, there was an excellent linear relationship between ΔECL and lgcCAPin a wide linear range from 1.0 × 10-10to 1.0 × 10-6mol l-1CAP. The detection limit was super-low to be 3.3 × 10-11mol l-1(S/N = 3). When applied for CAP detection in real pharmaceutical and food samples, the recoveries were between 97.8% and 105.7% with R.S.D. less than 3.3%. A possible CAP-activated ECL mechanism of BNQDs-Ru(phen)32+was also proposed. This work will offer a great potential for efficient monitoring of CAP pollution and clinical diagnosing of CAP-related diseases in future.

Abstract
Chloramphenicol (CAP) is a harmful compound associated with human hematopathy and neuritis, which was widely used as a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent in agriculture and aquaculture. Therefore, it is significant to detect CAP in aquatic environments. In this work, carbon nanotubes/silver nanowires (CNTs/AgNWs) composite electrodes were fabricated as the CAP sensor. Distinguished from in situ growing or chemical bonding noble metal nanomaterials on carbon, this CNTs/AgNWs composite was formed by simple solution blending. It was demonstrated that CNTs and AgNWs both contributed to the redox reaction of CAP in dynamics, and AgNWs was beneficial in thermodynamics as well. The proposed electrochemical sensor displayed a low detection limit of up to 0.08 μM and broad linear range of 0.1-100 μM for CAP. In addition, the CNTs/AgNWs electrodes exhibited good performance characteristics of repeatability and reproducibility, and proved suitable for CAP analysis in real water samples.

Abstract
Here we introduce a composite material that consists of graphene oxide (GO) sheets crosslinked with N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) and functionalized with gold nanoflowers (AuNFs). Furthermore, a screen printed electrode (SPE) modified with the introduced composite is electrochemically reduced to obtain an SPE/rGO–NHS–AuNFs electrode for sensitive and selective determination of chloramphenicol (CAP) antibiotic drug. The morphological structure of the as-prepared nanocomposite was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The proposed sensor demonstrated excellent performance with a linear concentration range of 0.05 to 100 μM and a detection limit of 1 nM. The proposed electrode offers a high level of selectivity, stability, reproducibility and a satisfactory recovery rate for electrochemical detection of CAP in real samples such as blood serum, poultry feed, milk, eggs, honey and powdered milk samples. This further demonstrates the practical feasibility of the proposed sensor in food analysis. Here we introduce a composite material that consists of graphene oxide (GO) sheets crosslinked with N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) and functionalized with gold nanoflowers (AuNFs).![]()

Abstract
A chloramphenicol (CAP)-binding aptamer of 80 nucleotides (nt) was reported in 2011. In 2014, it was truncated to 40 nt and has since been used by most researchers, although a careful binding study is still lacking. In this work, binding assays using isothermal titration calorimetry and various DNA-staining dyes were performed. By comparing the truncated aptamer with three control sequences, no specific binding of CAP was observed in each case. The secondary structures of the original and truncated aptamers were analyzed, and it was shown that the likelihood of the truncated aptamer to retain the same binding mechanism as the original sequence is low. We further examined gold nanoparticle (AuNP)-based label-free colorimetric assays. By quantifying the extinction ratio at 620 nm over that at 520 nm, a similar color response was observed regardless of the sequence of DNA, suggesting the color change mainly reflected other events such as the adsorption of CAP by the AuNPs, instead of aptamer binding to CAP. Salt-induced aggregation experiments suggested direct adsorption of CAP on AuNPs. CAP only weakly inhibited DNA adsorption by AuNPs but did not displace pre-adsorbed DNA. Therefore, CAP adsorption by AuNPs needs to be considered when designing related sensors, for example, by using non-aptamer sequences as controls. This work calls for careful confirmation of aptamer binding and control experiments for designing aptamer and AuNP-based biosensors.

Abstract
A simple and ultrasensitive flow injection chemiluminescence competitive immunoassay based on gold nanoparticle-loaded enzyme for the detection of chloramphenicol (CAP) residues in shrimp and honey has been developed. Due to their good biocompatibility and large specific surface area, carboxylic resin beads can be used as solid phase carriers to immobilize more coating antigens (Ag). In addition, gold nanoparticles could provide an effective matrix for loading more CAP antibody and horseradish peroxidase, which would effectively catalyze the system of luminol-p-iodophenol (PIP)-H2 O2 . A competitive immunoassay strategy was used for detection of CAP, in which CAP in the sample would compete with the coating Ag for the limited antibodies, leading to a chemiluminescence (CL) signal decrease with increase in CAP concentration. A wide linear range 0.001-10 ng ml-1 (R2 = 0.9961) was obtained under optimized conditions, and the detection limit (3σ) was calculated to be 0.33 pg ml-1 . This method was also been successfully applied to determine CAP in shrimp and honey samples. The immunosensor proposed in this study not only has the advantages of high sensitivity, wider linear range, and satisfactory stability, but also expands the application of flow injection CL immunoassay in antibiotic detection.

Abstract
Cellophane was taken as platform to fabricate a new SERS substrate via silver mirror action. From Raman spectra, it can be found that the Raman signal of Ag-coated cellophane has little influence on the detection of analytes molecules. Raman mapping analysis showed that the cellophane-based SERS substrate has good uniformity. By using the Ag-coated cellophane, 10-6-10-9M crystal violet (CV) could be detected by this substrate and the reproducibility of the substrate was also involved. Acetamiprid was also detected via Ag-coated cellophane. The result showed that cellophane is suitable to be taken as platform for preparation of SERS substrates.

Abstract
New and emerging robust technologies can play an important role in ensuring a more resilient meat value chain and satisfying consumer demands and needs. This paper outlines various novel thermal and non-thermal technologies which have shown potential for meat processing applications. A number of process analytical techniques which have shown potential for rapid, real-time assessment of meat quality are also discussed. The commercial uptake and consumer acceptance of novel technologies in meat processing have been subjects of great interest over the past decade. Consumer focus group studies have shown that consumer expectations and liking for novel technologies, applicable to meat processing applications, vary significantly. This overview also highlights the necessity for meat processors to address consumer risk-benefit perceptions, knowledge and trust in order to be commercially successful in the application of novel technologies within the meat sector.

A novel "dual-potential" electrochemiluminescence aptasensor array using CdS quantum dots and luminol-gold nanoparticles as labels for simultaneous detection of malachite green and chloramphenicol. Abstract
A novel type of "dual-potential" electrochemiluminescence (ECL) aptasensor array was fabricated on a homemade screen-printed carbon electrode (SPCE) for simultaneous detection of malachite green (MG) and chloramphenicol (CAP) in one single assay. The SPCE substrate consisted of a common Ag/AgCl reference electrode, carbon counter electrode and two carbon working electrodes (WE1 and WE2). In the system, CdS quantum dots (QDs) were modified on WE1 as cathode ECL emitters and luminol-gold nanoparticles (L-Au NPs) were modified on WE2 as anode ECL emitters. Then the MG aptamer complementary strand (MG cDNA) and CAP aptamer complementary strand (CAP cDNA) were attached on CdS QDs and L-Au NPs, respectively. The cDNA would hybridize with corresponding aptamer that was respectively tagged with cyanine dye (Cy5) (as quenchers of CdS QDs) and chlorogenic acid (CA) (as quenchers of l-Au NPs) using poly(ethylenimine) (PEI) as a bridging agent. PEI could lead to a large number of quenchers on the aptamer, which increased the quenching efficiency. Upon MG and CAP adding, the targets could induce strand release due to the highly affinity of analytes toward aptamers. Meanwhile, it could release the Cy5 and CA, which recovered cathode ECL of CdS QDs and anode ECL of L-Au NPs simultaneously. This "dual-potential" ECL strategy could be used to detect MG and CAP with the linear ranges of 0.1-100 nM and 0.2-150 nM, with detection limits of 0.03 nM and 0.07 nM (at 3sB), respectively. More importantly, this designed method was successfully applied to determine MG and CAP in real fish samples and held great potential in the food analysis.
